Bring Me to Life
A Dark AU Multifandom/OC Erotica Story
Mafia Princess #2
Prologue
Author's Note
Characters from other fandoms appear such as Ari Levinson, Ransom Drysdale, and Lloyd Hansen but Andy Barber is the man focus. This chapter contains pregnancy loss from self induced abortion, some mild physical violence towards women, discussing of sex trade/prostitution, organized crime, forced sex work, other types of abuse, etc. This is a very mature story so I highly advise that minors DNI. The italic lyric sections are from the song posted at the beginning of the chapter. You can also get the song info from the playlist. - Leia
So go on and scream, scream at me
I'm so far away (So far away)
I won't be broken again (Again)
I've got to breathe
I can't keep going under

Andy Barber had spend the day in his office piecing together evidence on a case when the phone on his desk, breaking his concentration.
"Andy Barber," He answered quickly.
"Mr. Barber, I'm calling from Newton General Hospital," replied the feminine voice on the other end. "It's about your wife, Laurie."
"Do I need to get over there?"
"The Doctor believes that would be best."
"I'll be right there."
Laurie was six months pregnant with their first child. They'd been married close to a year now. To say he was worried was an understatement. He left his office without hesitation and rushed over to the hospital. He walked straight up to the reception desk frantically to know where to go.
"Excuse me. I'm Andy Barber," he spoke, practically out of breath. "I was told my wife Laurie is here."
The receptionist typed quickly before responding, "She's in surgery, but the maternity waiting area is on the third floor."
"Thank you."
Andy went to the elevator and selected the third floor. He walked off when it stopped and looked for the waiting room, which didn't take him long to find. He found a lonely seat in the corner and took it. He wasn't fond of sitting and waiting but it was better than pacing a hole in the floor. His mind racing. What the bell could have possibly happened to Laurie and their unborn baby? She told him everything was perfect at the last appointment since he was forced to miss it due to being in court. There has been nothing wrong at any of the other appointments and everything at home seemed fine. He wasn't sure what to think or even feel as his face feel into his hands. He wasn't sure how much time had passed when he finally heard the name "Barber" called from the doorway. He practically jumped from where he sat when he stood up and had to resist the urge to run to the doorway. He did walk a little faster than normal until he reached the figure in the doorway.
"Mr. Barber?" The male doctor questioned.
"I'm Andy Barber," He answered.
"I'm Dr. Weston. Please come with me."
Andy followed the doctor into the hallway and waited for him to speak. He took in a deep breath, as he was unsure what he was about to hear.
"Mr. Barber, I want to start out with your wife is fine," Dr. Weston began. "However, we had to perform an emergent C section when she arrived. She was bleeding and in advanced pre-term labor. I'm so very sorry, but your son was stillborn upon delivery."
Andy was in shock, but needed to know more. He felt like he was about to hit the floor, like all the air had been sucked out of his lungs. He just couldn't believe this!
"Dr. Weston, do you have any idea what cause this to happen?" Andy questioned in disbelief. "My wife wasn't having any problems at all with the pregnancy."
"That's the thing, Mr. Barber, is this is very abnormal given how your wife's pregnancy has gone," the Doctor responded. "So, we did run tests."
"What did this?"
"It appears that your wife ingested exorbitant amounts of an herb called black cohosh. We, also, found pitocin in her system. When she was questioned about these things, she admitted to taking them both to end the pregnancy but said no more than that."
Andy was instantly filled with anger and trying with everything in him not to boil over with rage. He'd just been told his wife had essentially killed their unborn child. His marriage was a lie. He was living a lie. Who did he marry? What kind of monster essentially murders their child? He could feel the tears he was fighting as he wanted to mourn his son. He couldn't continue to live this lie that Laurie had turned their marriage and life into. His marriage was over and he wouldn't ever be able to trust her again. She had murdered their child, their son. He'd never be able to look at her again without wanting to rage for what she's done.
"Thank you, Dr. Weston, for your full disclosure and honesty," Andy stated.
"Would you like to see your wife?" the doctor inquired curiously.
"No. Knowing what she's done, I can't even look at her."
"Is there anything I should tell her?"
"No. She'll find it all out when she gets the divorce papers before you even discharge her. I'm going to see my lawyer now."
"I am truly sorry I had to be the one to deliver such news to you, Mr. Barber."
"I appreciate that. However, you're not at fault here for anything. This is all on Laurie for her actions."
The Doctor firmly shook Andy's hand before walking away. Andy, himself, was a bundle of so many emotions in that moment. He had been looking forward to becoming a dad and Laurie had just stolen that from him. She, also, ruined their marriage. Now all he cared about was ridding himself of her forever.
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies (So I don't know what's real)
(So I don't know what's real and what's not)
(Don't know what's real and what's not)
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore

Caroline McKenna was putting the finished touches on her make-up. It was a special night, her eighteenth birthday, and she was more than looking forward to the celebrations. She had just stepped out of her bathroom and into her bedroom when three armed men she didn't recognize burst in the door. She suddenly frozen in fear as two of the three grabbed her by the arms. Her breathing was ragged and heavy as they drug her across the floor to the third man.
"Aren't you a pretty thing," the third commented as he put a hand under her chin, forcing her to look up at him. "You will do nicely. The Boss is going to want to see her."
She could feel tears start to fall from her eyes and roll down her cheeks as their grip on her began to tighten. What was going on?
"What do you want with me?" Caroline asked, trying her best not to sob.
"You're about to find out," the same man as before answered. "Now bring her."
She started to cry as she was dragged from her room forcefully then down the hallway with them stopping at the stairs. Then, one of the men let her go while the other roughly tossed her over his shoulder, causing her dress to ride up and partially exposing her lace panties. She could hear the comments about what the other could see and it made her skin crawl. At the bottom of the stairs, she was placed back onto her feet and both men once again resumed their tight grip on her. They then went back to basically dragging her to where they wanted her to go until reaching the open doorway of her father's study.
She was taken into this room much more gently where a man who wasn't her father sat behind his desk with a ruggedly handsome and soft faced body guard standing just behind him. Her father was seated in a chair off to the side and another man stood just behind him pointing a gun at his head. The man sitting behind the desk had to be the Boss. He looked at the one who seemed to be above the two that had basically man handled her into the room then back to her as if he were examining her.
"Release her," he commanded in a calm but cool tone to the lackeys that had been holding her then turned his attention to her once she was free of their grip. "Come to me, pretty one."
Caroline walked to the desk and then around it to this stranger, this man they referred to as the Boss, fearing what would happen if she did not do as he wished. She approached him without a word. He reached out and gently pulled her closer to him, turning her completely around to fully examine her body just short of removing her clothes.
"What is your name, pretty one?" He asked her.
"Caroline," she answered quietly.
"And Sean McKenna here is your father?"
"He is, sir."
"So very, polite. You taught your daughter so well, Sean. Oh, sweet girl, your father is greatly indebted to me, so he's given me you."
"Wha...what? For what?"
"To earn the money to pay his debts as well as continue to sustain him, your mother, and younger siblings."
"How am I supposed to do that? How will I do that? What about my life, Dad?"
"If your father cared about your life, sweet girl, he wouldn't have given you to me. You will make money the best way pretty girls like you do in this world, with your body. You will be one of my special girls so you will be well cared for. Men will pay for time with you and the privilege to touch your body, among other things. This will be how you make money for me and the money your father needs."
Caroline was in complete shock as she felt the tears forming in her eyes again. She couldn't believe this! She turned around to look at his father who had his head down so he didn't have to face her because he couldn't. Of course he couldn't! He was a coward who put her into a forced life of sex work for possibly the rest of her life.
"This is my son, James," the Boss stated, introducing the one who had obviously been in charge before then he motioned towards the man behind him. "And this is Ari Levinson, my head of security."
Her father said nothing to this and she took a deep breath. She was going to go with this and be willing. Her father made it obvious he cared nothing about her considering that he was willing to make such an arrangement in the first place.
"What do you want of me? I won't fight you or make you force me," she said to the older man in front of her.
"Go with Ari to your room and pack essentials. You will stay under my close eye since James treated you so poorly with Ari as your personal guard. The rest of your things will be sent for," the boss responded.
"Yes, sir."
"Ari will take you to your new home. Put her in the suite attached to yours, Ari, so that you can keep a close eye on her."
"Of course, Boss," Ari replied with a slight smile before he walked over to her and offered her his arm.
Caroline took Ari's arm and walked out of the study with him. She hadn't realized the tears that were rolling down her cheeks by the time she reached the stairs. She directed him up the stairs and then down the hallway to her bedroom door. Of course, it would very soon no longer be her room at all. Once they were in the room with the door shut behind them she stepped forward a couple of paces and turned around to face the rugged but handsome man. He approached her quietly, his blue eyes shining brightly at her. The look in his eyes was kind as he softly wiped away her tears with his hands and gave her a smile.
"I won't hurt you, pretty girl," he spoke softly. "The Boss won't either, though he can't let your father know that. He has a reputation to maintain."
"What do you mean?" She questioned. "I thought..."
"You're being taken to the Boss's home to stay, not where the girls live. He's putting you under his protection."
She was confused. What did all this mean? What was really happening?
"It means that no one can ever touch you without your consent until you're more comfortable or choose the life," Ari explained.
"The boss isn't forcing me into anything at all?" Caroline asked in response.
"No, he's not, but James will, which is why you have me."
"You're here to protect me?"
"And, I'm the best."
She smiled at him. He was a handsome man that was oozing with confidence. She couldn't help but be grateful for the news he'd given her. She was so inexperienced, having only had sex once, and the thought of selling her body for it was terrifying. She desired greatly to be touched but was cynical about anything more than sex after his a man she tried giving her heart to had crushed her.
"Are you allowed to touch me?" She inquired of him.
"Have you ever been touched?" He questioned in response.
"Only once."
"I'm allowed with consent as long as we keep it secret."
"Will you touch me?"
"Oh, pretty girl, you're going to be so much trouble for me, aren't you?"
"I may not want to be one of the girls yet but I want to be touched."
Caroline backed up until she was leaning against the bed then slipped her arms out of her dress, allowing it to drop to the floor and pool at her feet. She stood before him in only a matching black lace bra and panty set. Ari followed her towards the bed, stripping his clothes off as he approached her. By the time he got to the bed, he was in nothing but his boxers. He pulled her against him then captured her lips in a fierce kiss. She needed to feel something good. Her father had condemned her to this life, and she was going to find a way to enjoy it. She got lucky that the Boss was putting her under special protection to give her some choices and control in this new life. Caroline did know one thing as Ari deepened the kiss and that was that she'd never, ever forgive her father for sentencing her to this life. She was choosing Ari right now, but who knew what else the future held for her. There wouldn't always be men like Ari though she hoped to god there would be a lot of men that would be as good to her as he was being right now.

flowers for a ghost

“You disappear with all your good intentions And all I am is all I could not mention”
The day Lucy and Max ended things would forever be the worse day of her life, and she was certain she went home and cried so hard she almost stopped breathing. which resulted in her sucking in her breathe and tears so hard she would gasp, and vomit. The way she was handling everything even though she knew it was a great deal her part, and everything that came with her lifestyle came her so much anxiety that there was no way she would have been a good wife for him. But she loved him.
Those first six months after the break up, she spend all her time doing school, and working for some doctor she found to be overbearing.  “Like who will bring me flowers when it's over And who will give me comfort when it's cold” Once she had graduated school she got a teaching job right away, and the doctor who had once been her boss made it very clear he was interested in her. The whole relationship felt speedy; they started dating on a crisp January evening, he took her to Boston to meet her family in March, in convinced her ever so sweetly to begin converting to reformed Judaism in April, he proposed in August, and they were married in the temple in October. Being married so quickly wasn’t exactly because she was in love, she told herself she could be in love, but he made her feel so afraid to be alone that she needed someone to take care of her.
“She took a plane to somewhere out in space To start a life and maybe change the world”
Three years after the date she and Max broke up she found herself laying in the bed she shared with her husband, who she had celebrated an anniversary with a few weeks prior. “You’ve been throwing up so much, Luce. You’re going to end up being nothing but tits soon,” Christopher told her as he sat on the edge of their bed putting on his shoes.
”I’m pregnant,” she breathed out. “I was going to tell you in a really cute way but every time i’d plan something you’d end up working late.”
”You’re having my baby?” he questioned moving closer to her to press a kiss to her head. “My parents are going to be so excited, my child bride is making them grandparents again,” Lucy hated when her in-laws called her that, she was twelve years younger then her husband and they acted like she was a baby.  “See I never meant for you to have to crawl No I never meant to let you go at all”
The entire pregnancy Christopher had been the most dotting husband, always calling her between surgeries, and skipping out on work functions to take care of her. She was 18 weeks at this point, and she was waiting for both the ultrasound tech and her husband to show up. In quiet moments like this she always found herself wondering what Max would do in these situations, and what he would think about it all. But then Christopher would show back up, and she would remind herself that he was her husband and she was meant to love him.
”How’s my baby?” he questioned his hands moving to her stomach. “I can’t wait to see their little face,” his hands moved out of the way as the ultrasound tech began to move the wand against her stomach. “It looks like a girl so far.”
“I don’t want to know,” Lucy reminded him with a chuckle.
“Lucy that’s crazy. It will be easier if we know, the surprise is a bit outdated,” he said as he watched the ultrasound. “Our baby Zoey.”
“I just like Zoe. I thought we decided if it was a girl her name would be Zoe Kate.”
“No, we decided we’d call her Zoe, but her legal name would be Zoey,” which couldn’t have been further from the truth, and she knew his mother most likely made it clear how much she adored the name Zoey.
“Don't ever say goodbye”
Of course her little glimpse of all her dreams coming true seemed to be crashing down around her quickly. “She’s such an active little girl,” Lucy said with a smile as she got comfortable in the passenger seat of their car following a get together her husband’s co-worker had thrown. “I’m so tired though.”
”Good. She’s healthy,” Christopher pointed out as he started towards their house. “I think my mother is going to come stay with us for the first few months to help with the baby.”
”Oh, I just thought that maybe it would be just us for the first few months, us and Zoe.”
”Lucy neither of us know how to raise a baby. I still have to work even after the baby is born, and my mom can help us,” she was about to beg him to not let his mother come stay with him about the time they were going through an intersection and a drunk driver ran a red light hitting Lucy’s side of the car perfectly.  See my head aches from all this thinkin' “Feels like a ship god, god knows I'm sinkin'”
Lucy felt like it was a sick joke that she lost her baby twenty two weeks into her pregnancy because someone was careless. The first few days home she wasn’t sure she even left bed, until she finally forced herself on day three to get out of bed to get a glass of water. She walked past the nursery that was going to be Zoe’s where she found Christopher, she had thought he was having a moment of grief when she walked in wrapping her arms around his body.
”I have someone coming for the crib today,” he told her which caused her heart to drop. “My friend from work said she wanted the baby clothes, she found out she was having a girl today. My mom said she’d take the sign with Zoe’s name on it to put in her house on her wall dedicated to her grandchildren.”
”Why are you doing this?” Lucy questioned as he arms dropped. “It’s been three days, and I’m not ready for any of this.”
”Lucy, if I waited until you were emotionally ready for this, or honestly for anything I’d waste so much time,” he bluntly told her. “I’m not going to let you mope around some nursery for my daughter when we both have a lives to live, and you can grieve but i’m not going to let you grieve in unhealthy ways in my house.”
”It’s our house,” she whispered. “And i’m just not ready. I don’t want to get rid of her stuff, and I don’t this to become some boring guest room.”
”Lucy, I love you but a teacher’s salary can’t afford this house. Five bedrooms and five baths, two living rooms, a nice kitchen for you to make dry snickerdoodles in, and a nice backyard on a teacher’s salary is a trailer house,” Christopher told her which caused her to cry, which caused him to feel bad. “Baby, you know I didn’t mean it. I’m just grieving in my own way, but I can’t let you drowned in this.” “Wonder what you do and where it is you stay”
Six months after they lost Zoe, Lucy found herself sitting on the edge of the bathtub taking a pregnancy test which was positive. She was so scared of what if it hurt too bad to have another baby after everything with Zoe, but before she could even find herself hoping for this baby she had another miscarriage.
She laid in the cold hospital room, as her husband came down from surgery. “Lucy, we should really look into birth control,” he paused. “You know I’m allergic to latex so condoms aren’t the best option, and the latex free ones are weird,” he sat on the edge of the bed. “I’ll be late tonight, I’m teaching a night class,” he leaned over pressing a kiss to her head as the tears began to form. “I’ll have your dad come pick you up.”
“These questions like a whirlwind, they carry me away Who will bring me flowers when it's over”
”You know I mind my business,” Joshua Hadley told his daughter as they drove from the hospital to the Bien house. “But Goose your mother had five miscarriages in the eight years between you and Beau, and I never once left her side.”
”Dad, it’s different,” she shook her head. “He has a class he’s teaching, and he can’t just cancel it for this. Then tomorrow he’s flying out to Boston to see his parents, and I just know he would be here if he wasn’t so busy.”
”Lucy Katherine, I want you to have the greatest love story of all time, and I just don’t know if it’s with Christopher,” he told her hoping she would come to her senses.
”He’s my husband, and I love him.”  “And who will give me comfort when it's cold Who will I belong to when the day just won't give in”
Four years into their marriage, and five years since she had last seen Max, and she found herself at a conference with Christopher. While he spent his hours in workshops, and with friends she lounged around the pool, when she noticed her boobs weren’t quite fitting her bathing suit the same way. She took a pregnancy test, and was over joyed when she got the positive results.
”Hi,” she told him as he walked into the hotel room. “I’m pregnant again,” she was overjoyed and excepted this grand moment where he would also be elated that they were having a baby.
”Lucy, why do you keep doing this to yourself?” he questioned. “Your doctor has told you numerous times that your body, he said you’d need numerous medical producers to help carry a baby after everything that happened with my Zoe,” he scoffed. “I’m not trying to be mean I just know it’s not healthy for you.”
”But, we’re having a baby again,” she said as she felt the tears start to form in her eyes.
”The crying act might have worked on Garrett or Max, or any of your other little boyfriends, but it’s getting old,” he leaned against the doorframe. “My mother said that are childish, and that’s the reason you can’t seem to carry a baby. She said that the universe knows you’d be too immature to parent, and that they are saving some poor baby from that.”
“Why would you tell me that?” Lucy questioned as she sat down on the bed.
“Because I love you, and I want you to know that not everyone is meant to be a mother.”
“And who will tell me how it ends and how it all begins”
When they heard the baby’s heartbeat she was certain that this time they were going to get their happy ending. But three days after that appointment, she found herself once again in a cold hospital bed.
”Where have you been?” She questioned as Christopher walked through the doors. “I’ve been here, and alone, and I’ve scared.”
”Lucy, you are a grown adult I can’t hold your hand every single time you miscarry. I had to work,” he told her, which his tone was quickly changed about the time the doctor walked through the door.
”Dr. Bien,” The doctor said. “Mrs. Bien I am so sorry to hear about your loss.”
”Dr. Fletcher, I just worry so much about my wife, and I know this can’t be good for her body,” he said as he moved his fingers through Lucy’s hair. “I just don’t want something to happen to her.”
”Well, there is options, and I would suggest if you really want a baby to start looking into other options, or we can run more test to see what exactly is causing the problem; she’s young, and healthy there’s no reason we can’t fix what’s going on.”
”I just don’t want her to get hurt again,” Christopher told the doctor. “I know after I lost my daughter I was devested for months.”
”Our daughter,” Lucy whispered.  “Don't ever say goodbye I'm only human”
Three months following the last miscarriage, Lucy stood in the kitchen making his lunch. “I made sure to meal prep a few nights of dinners for while I was gone,” she looked at Christopher who was spreading cream cheese on a bagel.
“Babe, I’m a grown man, I know how to cook,” he let out a chuckle. “But you're sweet,” he had this way of being the most charming man when she was about to leave, or when they were around friends and family, or even strangers. “Have fun, and enjoy yourself.”
“You know today Zoe would have been two if she had been born on her due date,” Lucy told him as she snapped the lid closed on a glass tupperware dish. “I want to start fertility treatments when I get home.”
“Lucy, I just don’t want to do this with you again,” he took a deep breath. “My mother is coming to visit once you get home, then we have a gala soon, and we just don’t have time for a baby right now,” he explained. “And it’s just not going to happen.”
Lucy nodded opting not to fight as she put the tupperware in the fridge. “I love you, and I will see you when I get home.”
“I love you too, Lucy Bien.”

a month ago these fields were dry and dead and prickly. They were nothing compared to how beautiful they are; green and full and alive with life. Where we live, we don’t see rain often - but when it rains it pours.
That is how I feel about life right now. I look at this photo, which was taken on sunrise, in our favourite place, with my whole world captured within it. They look so happy and carefree and I’ve found myself looking at this photo often. Two out of three of my dogs need specialist surgeries to not only improve their quality of life; but to justify their lives. Because with their current conditions, if left untreated, the kindest option for them will be euthanasia.
Most of you have followed Miller’s journey with her - to put it plainly - broken ears. Some of you even donated to help her! With the help of friends, family, total strangers, and an army of vets and nurses, she received a bilateral vertical ear canal ablation. This didn’t work. We performed another surgery. This didn’t work. For the last eight months she has routinely been seeing a veterinary dermatologist; has been on antibiotics, steroids, creams, ointments, painkillers.. and is still in excruciating pain. the tablets needed to keep her relatively comfortable cost $269 for two weeks worth - that’s without the specialist consults, antibiotics, and painkillers.
The specialist is out of answers; out of treatments. We’ve tried everything. Her ONLY option left is a bilateral total ear canal ablation, or TECA. This will cost $1,500 - $2,500 per ear. The other dog with life-threatening issues is Harold. Which sounds crazy. How can my baby dog be so broken already? When harold was a few months old I noticed him limping. His hips had been cleared, so it wasn’t hip dysplasia. He was diagnosed with bilateral elbow dysplasia. I was DEVASTATED. I threw every treatment at him, hoping his elbows would get better as he aged.
Harold struggles to stand if he’s been lying down for too long. He needs daily 4cyte (an epiitalis supplement) and monthly cartrophen injections to keep him mobile. I have to carefully monitor his exercise otherwise the following day he is crippled. Three weeks ago we performed another x-ray on harold now that he’s almost fully grown.
Our orthopaedic specialist has said, if Harold is to live a happy and abled life, he needs elbow arthroscopy. This costs between $2000 - $4000. I’ve not spoken about Harold’s issues on this blog, aside from when I contacted a fellow blogger who went through the same thing with their pooch, but receiving all of this news at once has been overwhelming.
This is not a cry for help nor a plea for pity. I don’t really know what this is. I just needed to vent to an audience who cares. If you have dealt with either of these surgeries, please let me know if it was worth it, as I’m at a loss of what to do.

New Beginnings
Will halstead x nurse!reader
Summary: you find out your pregnant surprising you and Will.
Tumblr media
a/n: i literally can't stop crushing on fictional characters. This is based on the episode where April is pushed by that one guy but this happens to the reader, so yeah. Also slight inspiration from the office when Jim and Pam find out they are expecting. Hope you enjoy it! also I want to make a part two but I'm not sure lol :)
You and Will being together was a bet everyone was a part of these days. You two just had something, but you two being so oblivious had no idea. You were a great team in the ed, knowing all of his moves, and treatment plans. You were his secondhand and he couldn't be more grateful. He of course started to grow feelings for you quite fast. He just couldn't handle how smart you were and of course beautiful.
“She likes you too,” Maggie said as Will frowned, “what?” he asked as she giggled, “you know what i'm talkin about. Everyone sees how you look at her, just ask her out.” she said as he shook his head, “oh no, i'm not doing that. You don't even know if she does like me.” he said as Maggie laughed, “aha so you do like her! Finally took me months to get it out of you,”  She said as Will tried to hide his smile as he nodded “okay yeah, fine i do like her, but we are colleagues, it wouldn't work out.” he said as Maggie shrugged, “you never know if you don't try.” she said walking away and leaving him alone with his thoughts.
There were moments where you two would join forces and figure out what was going on with patients. It almost looked like there were two doctors, you had a lot of knowledge in your head, sometimes you even forgot you were just a nurse.
“How do you know all this? You're smarter than me.” he said as you giggled “i just read a lot, Will, also not to brag but i was at the the top of my class. They were even surprised when it told them i would be a nurse, said i would excel in surgery.'' you said as he smiled, “well you would. Me and you make a pretty great team.” he said as you giggled getting back to your diagnosis.
These feelings he had for you of course had developed in you as well. You probably felt something for him the first time Maggie introduced you to him. You were slightly nervous, which was so obvious to Maggie. April was also in on it too, wanting you to just tell him what you were feeling.
“You know your crushes are better than the tv drama I am watching.” April said as you frowned looking at her, “what?” you asked as she giggled, “don’t play dumb with me, you like Will.” she said as you shook your head and began to blush, “no i don't, we are just friends.” you said as she shrugged, “if you say so, but i see the way he looks at you. He always chooses you to help him with patients.” she said as you sighed, “that's not true, i help Ethan too, and corner. I alternate all the time.” you said as she pulled out a tally of the times he asked you to help.
“Explain this, you can't say it's nothing because it's dated too,” she said as you laughed looking at her as if she was serious, “April, are you a nurse or a stalker.” you said as she laughed, “I'm serious, you should just tell him how you feel. He likes you back and I know it.” she said as you looked at her, “how do you know?” you said as she shook her head, “not saying, just do it.'' she said as Ethan called her over as you were left with all the tools in hand.
Months later Will had asked you out and you said yes of course. One date had turned into two, and well you were now 1 year into your relationship. Of course Maggie and April had no idea of this. You were surprisingly very secretive. They had no idea about you, nor did they suspect anything. You two did your own thing in the hospital and once you got to your apartment your hands were on one another after a day of no touching.
Once you enter your apartment, his hands were all over you as he brought you lips onto his. You smiled as you placed your hands on his hair, missing how soft it was. He missed your touch, he was so deprived. You were the only thing that kept him alive as he would like to say. Barely making it to the kitchen he placed you on the kitchen counter as you legs were on his waist as he took your shirt off and kissed you some more. He knew all your soft spots. His touch made you feel safe, no matter what. You took his shirt off as he kissed you some more as he took you to the shower, where you two caught up with the eachothers touch that you couldn't feel when working, not even a hug or kiss.
As you walked into the ed alone, Maggie had looked at you weirdly, you looked over at her and touched your face, “what is something on my face?” you asked as she shook her head, “no, you just look a little pale, you okay?” She asked as you nodded, “I feel fine, I was a little nause this morning, but I'm okay.” you said as she nodded “okay, you sure?” she asked as you nodded. You headed over to patients making sure they were all okay and stable and had everything they needed.
Just then two guys walking in caught your attention and Will’s as well, “y/n you busy?” he asked as you headed over, “I'm with you.'' you said as you were putting gloves on to see blood on the guy as you headed to treatment three.
“Alright fellas, im dr. halstead, follow me.” he said as the guy spoke, “don’t need this.” he said very slurred as the friend answered, “hey, just let him take a look.” he said as you turned around motioning him in, “im fine,” he said as you spoke, “alright come on, let's get you on this bed.” you said as he replied, “no, no, just wanna go home.” he said as he sat on the bed, “okay what happened,” Will asked as the friend answered, “we went out to party after the game, and he sees these cards fans..” he said as the guy on the bed answered, “douchebags wearing a ‘cubs suck’ shirt. Yet we won. How could we suck douchebag?” he said getting up from the bed as you placed him back, “sir sit down.'' you said as he was back on the bed and got up again, “stay on the bed.'' you said as he turned to you, “let me go!” he said as he pushed you to the side as you hit the door on your abdomen, Will quickly gave orders to the friend and to security, and was quick by your side, “you alright y/n?” He said seeing your face for any expression as all you could do was nod and bring air back into your lungs.
“Give him five of haldol.” he said as he picked you up and took you two treatment 2 so he made sure you were all fine.
“Your lungs are fine,” he said as you sighed, “okay, can i get back to work?” you said as Miss Goodwin, Maggie and April were there just to be sure you were fine, “just hold on.” Miss Goodwin said as he was examining you some more.
“Will, I'm fine.'' you said as he pushed around your abdomen, “does it hurt here?” he said as you flinched, “ow,” you said as he smiled,  “okay on a scale from one to ten how bad was the pain?” he asked as you spoke softly, “three?” You said as April spoke, “That means it's  seven or eight.” She said as you rolled your eyes, “I'm fine, really.”
“You're probably okay, but i would like to get a chest x-ray to be safe.” he said as you shook your head, “no way.'' you said as he became serious, “y/n, you have some pain and tenderness. A broken rib could have punctured your liver or your lung, I want to make sure you don't have a pneumothorax.'' he said as you scoffed looking over at the girls, “y/n, we don't want to see you wheeled back here in a gurney.'' Maggie said as you spoke, “guys I'm fine, you are all over acting a bit.'' you said they all eventually convinced you to do it along with some tests of course to rule out everything else that could be bad.
With your x-ray, nothing bad was seen, but Will being very cautious placed the tests in order as he waited with you. Luckly the curtain covered you two so he laid on the bed nearby, he was very worried you could tell, “Will...honey, I'm okay. The x-ray showed nothing, so it's probably nothing.” you said as he nodded “well if it's nothing, there is no harm in doing tests. I just want you to be okay.” he said as his voice grew shaky, “Will I’m not going anywhere okay? I'm here. I'm healthy.” you said as he nodded. “Yeah I know.” he said as you wiped his tears away and kissed him, “i'm here for the long haul.” you said as he smiled.
Minutes later, Natalie was back with your tests along with ob, “hey y/n, so your tests look well, nothing is wrong, however we do have some good news for you.'' she said as you frowned, “okay, why is ob with you?” you said as natalie looked at you with a smile, “well that's the good news, you are 5 weeks pregnant. Congratulations,” she said as you grew shocked, eyes widened as you smiled, “woah, really? I- um, i don't know what to say.'' you said as she smiled, “well i'm hopeful this is good news, did you want to call the father? she asked as you looked over at Will who was shocked as well.
“Uh well, actually he is in this room, he's just shocked as i am.'' you said as natalie gasped along with the ob. You weren’t sure if Will wanted kids this early in your relationship, so this was a surprise to the both of you. He then began to worry wondering if the hit you took hurt you more than it should.
“Is she okay? Are they okay? It's just they both took a hit, she got pushed and hurt her abdomen.” Will said as Natalie nodded, “well that's what we are hoping to see. There is nothing that indicates, but we wanna do an ultrasound to be sure,” she said as you both nodded.
As they showed you your small creation you were both in awe, Will was probably more excited seeing that you were pregnant. And of course now your relationship was public.
“Everything is fine, the fetus is well, and the placenta seems to be great. I'm so happy for you guys! We will give you guys some space, congratulations again!” she said as her and the ob left giving you time to process this.
Will sat beside you as he placed his hands on his face and gave your knuckles a kiss. He was filled with joy. You were having a baby, his baby.
“You okay Will?” you asked as he nodded, “yeah, i'm just, i'm gonna be a dad.” he said softly as you nodded, “yeah you are, sorry i worried you.'' you said as he shook his head, “no, the good thing is that you are both fine. y/n, you have no idea how happy i am.'' you said as you smiled as you placed his hand on your belly that would soon blossom.
“I'm happy, over the moon to be exact. I just, when she said that i worried, since maybe it's too soon.'' you said as he shook his head, “no, it's not too soon. This is our timing. Might be in the wrong order, but don't worry, I'll put that ring on your finger soon.'' you said as you blushed playfully slapping him, “im serious honey, before you know it you'll be Y/n Halstead.'' you said as you smiled, “does have a nice ring to it.'' you said as you kissed him and from afar, Maggie and the others were all happy. Maggie, being the winner of the bet, had been collecting her money. She knew it the whole time. There was no doubt you two were in love. So in love that you were starting a new life with one another. It was meant to be.

“Are You Married?”
“Are You Married?”
Pairing: AU Neurosurgeon Henry/Reader
Warning:  Explicit Smut; do not read if under 18
Note: The conversation at the end of this one-shot is an exact conversation between a lady at my church and her surgeon.
Taglist: @raspberrydreamclouds @lunedelorient @madbaddic7ed @summersong69 @killjoy-assbutt-1112 @meowpurrbooks @zealoushound @foodieforthoughts @crazybutconfidentaf
 You’d had a long day. You’d been out at the zoo with your children, your sisters-in-law, niece, nephews, and your mother-in-law.  Henry had surprised you while you were there by calling to say he needed a date night with you.  Marianne had jumped at the chance to have her grandbabies spend the night. You were thankful for a break, too.
 While you loved your 5 children, there were times they could be a little too much, especially after a day at the zoo.  They loved to pull you in all different directions.  Who could blame them?  You had a boy and identical quadruplet girls. Your son, Boyce, was almost 5, while your girls, Amelia, Ryleigh, Gracen, and Sophia, were almost 3.  You were a stay-at-home mom to all five and loved it.
 Henry joked, when you found out you were having identical quadruplets, “I knew my sperm was super…this just proves it.”  He also mentioned that it was a good thing he was a neurosurgeon because he wanted to spoil those little girls so much.
 So, yeah, you were more than happy to have a night away from them.  You and Henry didn’t get nights alone very often, between your 5 kids and his busy schedule.  That isn’t to say your sex life wasn’t active, because it definitely was.
 You weren’t a morning person when you first married Henry.  But you soon became one after becoming pregnant with the girls and then having them. So, morning quickies sometimes were the only time of the day when you got to enjoy Henry while not dead tired.
 On your way home from dropping the kiddos off at Gammy and Poppy’s house, you got your favorite coffee drink from the local café.  They knew you, as you visited often.  The owner smiled and said,
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Cavill.  Where’s the rest of your bunch?”
 You laughed. Normally, you’d have all five kids with you.  Now, they weren’t bad kids, and never ran in stores, but they were very active and started talking with anyone they saw in the stores.  Often, people noticed them before you could even say a word.
 “They’re at Gammy and Poppy’s for the night.  We had a day at the zoo.  I just want to make it to 10pm, so I needed some caffeine.”
 The woman smiled,
“I’ll go get that started for you.”
 As soon as she did, you got a message on your phone,
Tumblr media
 Thankfully, it didn’t take long for your coffee to be made.  You paid for it and then practically ran out of the door and to your van.  Once there, you tried to quickly drink your coffee, but not too quickly.  You knew what would happen if you did.
  It was almost embarrassing how wet you got from a simple, innocent text message.  But, you were already so wound up that just the thought of Henry, in bed, waiting for you, had you so excited.  Now, you were bouncing on the balls of your feet, as if you were one of your children waiting to go see their favourite animals today!
 Then, you started thinking: Will Henry be wearing his glasses when I get home?  You really hoped so…there was nothing sexier than shirtless Henry sitting up in bed with his glasses on.
 If you were just wet before…now you were almost soaking, and you hadn’t even left the café’s car park!  You immediately turned the van on, buckled up, and got home as fast as you could without going over the speed limit!
 Once you pulled into the garage, you sent a silent prayer up that Kal was in the backyard so he wouldn’t get too excited to see his people home and want to jump you.
 When you walked in to the living room and saw Kal’s bed empty, you sent up a silent thank you to whatever diety was listening.  So, on your way to the master bedroom, you dropped off your clothes in the laundry room. You thanked your lucky stars that Henry had the forethought to tell you which underwear and bra to wear today. He normally did that, so you’d be thinking of him all day (as if he really needed to do that; with your most morning quickies, you’d be feeling him all day as well as thinking of him).  But, you hadn’t had a morning quickie in the last few days.  Odd, but when you’re married to a neurosurgeon, their hours were very different from day to day and from week to week.
 While you were sad, you were also glad because you needed enough sleep in order to survive a day at the zoo with your kiddos, your mother-in-law, and the rest of the Cavill kiddos.
 Now, you were ready to greet Henry in all your glory.  When you enter the room, you see him sitting up in your California King, shirtless, with his glasses on, and his work laptop on his lap.
Tumblr media
 "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Henry says, even though you know exactly what he means.
 You make a small moan, and he looks up from the laptop.  By the time you make it to the bed, he’s put it away.
You don’t answer him with words; you just climb on the bed to straddle him and begin to grind on the bulge in his pants.
 He then leans down to capture your lips with his. As he does, he reaches behind your back to unclasp your bra.  Once the offending garment is unclipped, you quickly (and without moving your lips away from his) remove it.
 He reaches up to cup your cheek, and then he drags his elegant fingers gently down your throat, and over your breasts, softly brushing over your hardening nipples. You break away from the kiss to moan at his feather light touch.  Then, you move to grind your hips against him again, but he merely grips the top of your thighs, stopping your movements.
 He always wants to be in control and you’ll gladly let him.
 He drags his thumbs along the crease of your thighs and over your panties, spreading your arousal.
 He watches intently as his thumb circles your clit a few times. You can feel him hard beneath you, but he's got you pinned, so you can't really move. It’s like this for a few moments and, just when you think you can't take anymore, he threads his hands under your thighs, and rips your panties off of you like he did when you first got together.  Then, before you can fully process what has happened, he scoots you forward until you’re straddling his face.
 You suddenly reach out to grasp the headboard for balance, and your face flames at the position you're in.  While you had done this in the past, it had been a long time since Henry had surprised you like this!  You couldn’t remember the last time he’d had you ride his face…well before the kids were born, that’s for sure.
 He'd had his hands full of your ass, and his mouth full of well… you.  Yet, you couldn’t move away; it just felt too damn good. Especially when he used his hands to encourage you to move.  You were amazed, because your body was not what it used to be, but Henry didn’t seem to mind one bit.
 After riding the blissful wave of your orgasm, you are finally able to move away from his mouth, and are incredibly turned on when you notice the way your arousal glistens on his mouth and chin.
 You scoot back down then lean down to kiss him, and moan at the combination of your juices and his own unique taste. You kiss him deeper.
 He smoothly turns you both over, and immediately, you wrap your arms and legs around him. You squeeze your eyes shut when he drags his nose along your jaw, and kisses your neck. You moan again when he sucks a nipple into his mouth, and shifts to line himself up. He lifts his head as he releases said nipple with a pop.
 "Look at me, baby."
 It’s all you can do to look into his lust filled eyes.  You try your best to look at the slight brown in his eye when he pushed inside you with a groan.  Your legs then go slack; you can’t hold on when it feels so good each and every time.
 He drops his forehead to your own, and squeezes his eyes shut against the overwhelming sensation.
 "I love you, Y/N. I love you so much it hurts."
 You feel completely filled, but not just with his cock.  You feel his love breathing through each bead of sweat that covers his body and yours.  You can feel it in every thrust of his cock.  You pull together some strength and grab his curls and pull his head towards yours again.  You kiss him with every fibre of your being and you hope he feels the same.
 The electricity surrounding you feels like a live wire as he presses harder and deeper inside of you. Suddenly, he hits the most delicious spot. You claw at his back as he hits it again and again, and you fall into the best orgasm you’ve had in a week. Three more quick thrusts, and Henry follows with a deep, guttural groan.
 Henry then rolls you over so that you are now on top.  While he isn’t hard anymore, he also doesn’t want to let you go.  So, you put your head on his chest as he runs his fingers through your hair.
 After a few moments of silence, you finally speak up,
“Henry, not that I’m complaining, but what brought that on?”
 You could feel him laugh deep in his chest,
 “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you.”
 “Try me; I’m a college educated woman.  I’m sure I can follow.”
 He shifted slightly, and you knew he wanted to see your face as he spoke.  So, you sat up…carefully as to not lose your connection.
 “Well, it had to do with a patient.”
 “Okay…not sure I understand how a patient of yours has to do with the best sex we’ve had in a week.”
 “I’m getting there. This patient has a brain tumor that I’ll be removing tomorrow.  She asked me today as we were doing the pre-op, ‘Are you married?’  When I said, yes, she breathed what seemed to be a sigh of relief.”
 “How odd…”
Henry’s smile got bigger,
 “That’s not the odd part.  She then said, ‘Oh, good.  Now, what I want you to do is go home and have sex with your wife before my surgery.’ When I asked her why I needed to do that, she replied with ‘So you won’t be nervous, of course.’  I about died in the pre-op room.  Her husband just shook his head and said, ‘Kathy, you can’t just tell the doctor to have sex with his wife.’  ‘But, how else is a doctor supposed to relax before surgery?’  She is going to be a favorite patient, I’m sure.”
 Now you were laughing, hard.  You really hoped to meet this patient someday.  Of all the things to ask your doctor before major brain surgery!  You now had a favorite story to tell at parties!
 End note: Sadly, the woman who asked the question, Kathy, did end up passing away.  She had brain cancer and it was just too aggressive.  But, she always had a great sense of humor.

Getting Railed By Your Jealous Bf Ushijima After He Meets Your Childhood Ex (Who Wants You Back!)📱📞
———————————
Sooooooooo
It’s canon that Ushi is a very calm and collected bf
Your friends love him 💕
Your pet loved him 💕
And your family loves him
Or that’s what Ushi always thought...... until tonight.
You and Toshi went to your parents house for an elegant middle aged people dinner party they were throwing with all their friends from the neighborhood
Ushijima wore a suit and everything 💜💜💜 you wore in a beautiful green dress and small heels to match him
CUTIES
The dinner party was great: 🎶 classy , bougie, ratchet extremely classy haha 💎
Until.......
your parent’s best friends’ son—Jeremy—happened to be home too.
Actually , he surprised everyone, crashing the party unexpectedly
And he brought gifts🤨.
Making a huge entrance that had everyone screaming in delight and hugging him, Ushijima couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of the way your family fawned over your childhood friend
Your parents can’t help but gush over Jeremy, because they’ve always wanted you to marry him and move with him to America to study cosmetic surgery
In high school you two dated a little, but then you realized it was all for the benefit of your parents and you agreed to break up but remained distant friends
You were good with that , as you thought it was a mutual decision
But it wasn’t. Jeremy truly had feelings for you and they hadn’t stopped just because he moved away and finished med school
“These are for you, Y/N.” Jeremy smoothly handed you a bouquet of your favourite type of flowers
You hadn’t the heart to tell him your favourite type had changed since high school :S
“And Wakatoshi-san, I didn’t know you would be here. Apologies.” He shook his hand.
Ushijima’s face was hard. “I don’t know why I would not be.....?” He answered with a slight eyebrow raise, squeezing Jeremy’s hand right back.
Hose down that fire Y/N
Anyway, even though your parents like Ushi a lot, it was pretty obvious to you AND your boyfriend that both them + Jeremy’s parents never gave up hope that you two would one day get back together
Not to mention They were as subtle as elephants in a library
They got the fucking photo album, showing everyone including Ushijima pictures of you and Jeremy bathing together as babies and kissing before prom
SMFH!
“Oh, you live in Beverly Hills, now?” Your mom’s eyes sparkled at Jeremy as he showed her pictures of his mansion on his phone. “Y/N looooves that part of Los Angeles, don’t you, honey?”
You noticed Ushijima stiffen. He was thinking about the love of his life, you, living in LA in Jeremy’s ugly mansion and it pissed this Ace off.
You nodded slowly, giving your mom a warning glance. “Sure, when I was 15.”
“Hey Jeremy, your father told me last weekend that you know of bunch of players on the LA Rams?”
Jeremy nodded proudly. “Yes sir. A lot of their wives and mothers are patients of mine, so the starting line up usually sends me Christmas cards with season passes and signed memorabilia so that I up their women on the waiting lists. Whenever you’re in America and you’d like to go see a game, just let me know.”
You rolled your eyes at how loud your father exclaimed in joy. “I keep telling you to call me YF/N!” He clapped. “And that’s a real sport right there. Football, Baseball, Soccer. Everything else is a joke to real men.” Your father finished.
“DAD!” You chastised, stomping your foot under the table.
“What—?”
You glowered are him. “In case you FORGOT.....Ushijima happens to be a professional volleyball player.”
Your dad had clearly forgotten, trying to blubber out an apology. Ushijima interrupted him, putting a hand on yours to settle his furious girlfriend.
“That’s quite alright, sir. I took no offence to it.” Ushi was used to other men not recognizing volleyball as a manly sport—he is very confident so that didn’t bother him. Rather, what stung was the fact that your father had never asked Toshi to call him by his first name before, and you two had been dating for three years.
To your dismay, Yours and Jeremys parents continued to say annoying shit like that all night
Jeremy loved it 🙄
You hated it, and defended your man at any chance you got
Ushijima stayed silent through it all, trying to calm you down actually.
Like I said he’s confident and not easily shaken
He only had had enough when the conversation changed to Jeremy’s explanation of liking his life and his career but it all never seeming good enough because of “the one that got away” and how “she seems happy in a relationship now” but “he would do anything to get her back”
Meanwhile he’s sneaking heartfelt glances at you 🤬🤬🤬🤢
Your mother and father were doting, looking at you and eachother as if to say “come onnnnn Y/N give him another chance”
Ushijima picked up on it all.
At one point during Jeremy’s explanation of ‘the one that got away’ you stuck your finger down your throat to make a gagging noise childishly
YOUR PARENTS WERE NOT HAPPY LMAO
anyway, at the end of the night you said bye to everyone..... and Jeremy asked to speak to you in private on the empty porch
Ushijima watched with a locked jaw by the car, leaning on it so he could stare openly
He was justly heated as he watched the conversation (but couldn’t hear anything) happening on the porch at night
He witnessed Jeremy write down what had to be his number and hold it in front of you for you to take
You hesitated, not sure if you should take it just to avoid causing more waves with both parents or to stomp on his foot
Luckily you didn’t need to do either because Ushijima had silently stormed over in a millisecond, whisking the paper from Jeremy’s hand, staring at his number written on the paper before crumbling it and throwing it over his shoulder.
“She doesn’t need it. Goodnight, Jeremy.”
Ushi grabbed your hand and walked you to the car angry af, you had to jog in your heels to keep up with him
This man was maaad and silent the whole way home, thinking about how everyone seems to be so sure that your ex could have given you a better life
He still held your hand the entire drive though, so clearly he wasn’t mad at you ❤️
He hated that everyone liked this Jeremy better all because he went down the conventional path to success:
Hadn’t Toshi paid for everything? Hadn’t Toshi massaged your feet? Hadn’t Toshi made you extremely happy? Hadn’t they seen how you were treated? Did you believe someone could do better?
Nonsense.
Toshi knew that he was the BEST boy and that no one could dare love you more or treat you better....... and you tended to agree
But Toshi needed to hear you say it.
He needed to feel it, too.
Upon arriving at yours & Toshi’s gorgeous modern home:
Tumblr media
Toshi hurriedly closed the door
you hadn’t even fully taken off your heels yet when you felt your boyfriend pressed himself against you from behind, lifting your dress up and rubbing his long hard cock print on your pantied pussy lips as you bent over
You moaned and started to get wet immediately
“Take off the panties.” He ordered.
you did obviously 😭 almost tripped with how fast you did it
Horny bish lol
Your boyfriend then picked you up in his strong arms and walked a few steps into the foyer, placing you so your ass was sitting on the 7th marble stair. He knelt down in between your legs and spread them while you sat on the staircase
He squeezed your ass in his large hands and dove into your pussy with his lips then tongue, immediately skipping the gentle licks... and tongue fucking your entrance into oblivion
His tongue was wet, strong and needy and fuck you choked on your own cries
You threw your head back, already screaming Ushi’s name
“Mmm scream my name just like that. Let everyone hear who you belong to.” He paused tongue fucking you to order.
you shuddered as you felt his warm breath on your clit and Ushi expertly enclosed his mouth around your sopping cunt, French kissing your clit into his mouth and sucking on it like a tiny lollipop
You tugged on his hair and screamed his name louder, feeling your interior walls clench
Once your legs started shaking because you were about to fall over the edge, Ushi picked you up again, making you wrap your legs around his waist
Toshi bent down quickly to empty his pockets which consisted of his keys, wallet, and his phone, placing it where you were just sitting when he was eating you out
Ushiwaka pressed your back against the wall beside the staircase.....
He held your entire body weight with one arm as he leaned in to kiss your neck, using his other hand to unbuckle his belt and kick his pants off
When he was freed & nude, he asked you kindly if you were ready and once you nodded he put one of his feet on the sixth stair, the other on the fifth, then thrusted deep into your soaking heat
He wasted no time in pounding you into the wall, the slight pain of the hard wall and your boyfriend’s hard dick somehow heightening the pleasure factor
Ushijima took both of your wrists in his gigantic hand and locked them above your head as he gave you nice and deep thrusts the way you both like it
“So fucking wet. All because of me, correct? I’m the only one who makes your pussy drip like this.”
Your pussy answered:💧 💧💧💧💧💧💧💧
Your vaginal walls squeezed around his dick and you bit his shoulder because the pleasure disallowed you to speak and Ushi groaned out
“Say. This. Tight. Pussy. Is. Mine.” He grunted as he circled his hips a bit while pounding, his voice grave.
Toshi picked up the pace as your soaking wet walls clenched around him even more from his dirty talk.
“Say. Who. This. Pussy. Belongs. To. Beautiful.”
You were being fucked too well, you couldn’t speak, you could only moan ... like usual
But your boyfriend wasn’t having any of that tonight.
He let go of your captive wrists and held you with both hands again, stepping downstairs and stopping in front of the large mirror in your foyer, turning so that only you could see yourself poking over his large shoulder, along with your boyfriend’s fine juicy ass and back calf muscles 🤤
Ushi grabbed the back of your neck (not enough to hurt) but just enough so that your head was up and you were looking at yourself in the mirror. He began to fuck you again, getting nice and deep in your pussy as he made you bounce on his dick in his arms
“Are you seeing yourself?” He laughed sexily. “Getting dumb-fucked, Princess? Whose dick are you taking, Y/N?” Wakatoshi groaned as your pussy clenched around him even more. He could tell you were about to cum and that he wouldn’t be long after. But he needed to hear you say something first.
“Who is your first choice, Y/N? Who fucks you like this every night? Who’s dick can you never get enough of? Me? Or Him?”
In your stupor, you watched yourself in the mirror: Toshi’s delectable ass flexing as he pushed in and out of you, feeling his strong hand gripping your neck. You weren’t a big talker during sex and bae knew that, but the amazing feeling of this angry jealous sex was too much, his big dick felt too fucking good..... and one particularly hard thrust from him that grazed your g-spot in the besssst way gave you the energy to cry out;
“YOU, TOSH. FUCK THAT JEREMY, HE COULD NEVER FUCK ME LIKE YOU DO. OR TAKE CARE OF ME LIKE YOU DO. I DON’T WANT OR NEED ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU. YOU’RE THE BEST BOY WITH THE BEST DICK. NO ONE CAN EVEN C-COME CLOSE TO YOU. YOU —OH, OH, OH MY GOD, I’M GONNA—“
Wakatoshi let go of your neck, landing soft kisses on your neck while he returned to gripping your ass with both hands now, sliding you up and down his long, hard, soaking wet dick from your juices.
It felt so fucking good 😩
“That’s right princess. I’ve heard enough, baby. I knew it: I just needed to hear you say it. Now cum for me.”
when you did, you made sure to scream out all the praises you always told toshi when you weren’t getting fucked, making him feel like a King, reassuring him that your mind, body, and soul belonged to him and NO ONE else.
Wakatoshi found his release soon after from your pussy but also from your words, shooting his thick cum up inside you for you to take as he caressed your back and whispered how much he loved you in your ear.
Then, as you laid limp in his arms, he left his cock to stay warm inside you and went back to the stairs, fully prepared to go head up and bathe you, then put you to bed.
But as he passed the sixth step, though, Toshi bent down to pick up his keys, wallet and phone that he’d set there.
As you fell asleep on his shoulder, Ushi grinned at his phone screen, pressing send to the voicemail message he’d just recorded.
Whoops 😏 must have accidentally butt-dialed someone before fucking you and left a long message by accident
😕ohno😕
With a photographic memory, it wasn’t difficult for the Ace to remember such a plastic surgeon’s phone number when Ushi saw it on the note.....
And Toshi could explain to you how sorry he was that he’d accidentally dialed it before railing you to sleep on the stairs and in the foyer
But truth be told, your boyfriend’s only real regret would be not being able to see the look on Jeremy’s face when he listened to it on his flight back home.

A Change of Heart Part 2–Matt Brody
Tumblr media
Part 1
Wattpad request by psych0bxtch
Matt's POV
When I heard the flatline, my stomach dropped. The only thing I could hear other than the worst sound in the world was Summer sobbing violently as Mitch tried to keep her from collapsing to the floor.
"No," she kept sobbing. "She can't be. . . Please tell me she isn't. . . Mitch. . . She's my baby sister. . . Please."
"Keep trying," I said under my breath when I finally found my voice. Everyone looked at me as I cleared my throat and took a step towards the ambulance.
"Keep trying," I said louder as they slowly started to unhook Y/N's lifeless body from their machines. "You can't give up on her. She's. . . We need her."
I ignored Summer's questioning look and instead, my eyes glanced towards Y/N. Suddenly, my view of Y/N in the back of an ambulance changed to the last time we were alone together in the South Lifeguard Tower. I couldn't decide if I was more haunted by her laying there unmoving or the look in her eyes when I rejected her.
"I need her," I mumbled. I glanced over at Summer to see her tears slowly stopping.
"Matt?" She said under her breath.
We broke our eye contact when we heard them charging the defibrillator. I held my breath as we all waited to hear the heart monitor start beeping. As we impatiently waited, Summer walked over to me, but I didn't look away from the EMTs working on Y/N.
"What did you mean when you said you need her?" She asked, her voice barely a whisper. "Be very careful with your next words, Matt."
"I can't imagine my life without her," I blurted out. I kept my eyes on Y/N and the EMTs as I continued, "I hate that us almost losing her is what made me realize it."
"No," Summer cut me off, making me finally look at her. "You aren't doing this. Y/N is an amazing girl and you broke her. You broke her, Matt. She finally got the courage to tell you how she felt and you shot her down. Are you telling me that all this time. . . Or are you just suddenly realizing it because we might. . . No. My sister deserves better. Y/N deserves a guy who knows he wants to be with her. Not some Olympic Asshole who picks and chooses when he gets a girl."
I opened my mouth to respond but was interrupted when we heard a beautiful beep. You could hear us all sucking in a synced breath when we recognized the sound. We turned around and saw the EMTs letting out relieved sighs.
"She's back," an EMT said as he glanced over at us. "We got her back."
"Alert the surgical team at the nearest hospital," the other EMT started giving instructions. "We need to get her into surgery as soon as we get there."
The EMTs started talking indistinctly as they hooked her up to more machines. I jumped when they slammed the door shut and the ambulance sped off. I turned to say something to Summer but she was already jogging towards her car. CJ and Stephanie sent me matching glares before following Summer. Ronnie cleared his throat, awkwardly avoiding eye contact with me.
"We're going to the hospital," Mitch said with not even an ounce of emotion in his voice. "Want a ride?"
We rode to the hospital in silence. I watched the buildings zoom by, the anger in Summer's voice repeating over and over again. The glare she gave me sent chills down my spine just thinking about it.
She was right. Y/N is too good for me.
As we sat in the waiting room, I thought back to our conversation in the South Lifeguard Tower. The longer I thought about it, the more I realized I never shot her down. I didn't say anything to her. She assumed I didn't have feelings for her because I didn't say anything. I didn't say anything because I was too shocked.
I looked up and noticed Summer watching me with tears streaming down her face. She had numerous reasons to be pissed at me but the real reason was because of the conversation in the South Lifeguard Tower. I stood up, nervously wiping my hands on my shorts as I walked over to her.
"Don't," she said, her voice getting caught in her throat. "I don't care how guilty you feel about shooting my sister down. I have more important things to think about. Like how Y/N is fighting for her life on a surgery table right now."
"Summer," I stuttered. "Please just. . ."
"Stop!" She yelled, quickly standing up. "My sister is dying, Matt. I don't give a shit that you feel guilty for turning her down. You have no idea how much you hurt her."
"I didn't. . ." I stuttered.
"Of course not," she scoffed. "She took two weeks off from work. Want to know what she did during that time? She spent the entire two weeks crying her eyes out. She was embarrassed, defeated, humiliated, and felt like she couldn't face you. Here's the real kicker; she came back for you!"
"What do you mean?" I asked under my breath.
"You were losing it, Matt," she sighed. "We could all see it."
I looked behind her to see everyone else watching us with the same look on their faces. When I made eye contact with Mitch, he shook his head and looked around the waiting room.
"Summer," I said, my voice breaking as I turned back towards her.
"Enough," she said through her teeth. "Y/N doesn't deserve you, Matt Brody. She deserves better."
* * * * *
An hour later, we still hadn't heard anything from the doctors working to save Y/N's life. We sat in the waiting room of the ER, all of us on edge. Whenever someone walked through a door, we all jumped.
"For Ms. Y/N Quinn?"
We all jumped up, slightly surprising the doctor when he saw how many of us were there. He looked around, trying to figure out which one of us he needed to address first.
"I'm her sister," Summer said shakily as she took a step towards him. "Is she. . . Did she. . . Please tell me she's okay."
"Your sister is one hell of a fighter," the doctor smiled sweetly at her.
"She's okay?" Summer said with nothing but hope in her voice.
"For the most part," he said slowly.
"What does that mean?" Ronnie asked.
"Well," the doctor said, slightly clearing his throat. "As you know, they were able to restart her heart in the back of the ambulance but her vitals were too low when she got to the hospital. As we took her into an exam room, she stopped breathing again. After a few tests, we discovered that it wasn't just the drowning that almost killed her."
"What was it?" Summer asked, slightly taking a step closer to the doctor.
"A bullet."
My breath got stuck in my throat. I looked over at Summer to see her covering her mouth, trying to stop the sob.
"When the hell was she shot?" CJ asked under her breath.
"Underwater," Mitch mumbled to himself. We turned around to see him thinking about something.
"Mitch?" Summer said under her breath.
"Before I jumped in after her, I thought I heard something strange. If I hadn't hesitated. . . I'm so sorry, Summer. I heard the gunshot and that's what made me jump in after her. I should've done that sooner. I'm so sorry."
"This isn't your fault," she said gently. My heart dropped into my stomach when Summer glanced over at me.
"How is she?" Mitch asked.
"We got the bullet out," the doctor continued, "and stopped the bleeding, but she still lost a lot of blood during the surgery. I'm afraid she's slipped into a coma."
"When is she going to wake up?" Summer asked almost instantly.
"We can't be entirely sure," he sighed. "She could be asleep for a few more hours or a few more days. When a patient loses a lot of blood, their mind tends to shut off until that blood is reproduced. But I can assure you that we are doing everything we can to make her feel comfortable until she does. I can take you to see her, Ms. Quinn."
When the rest of us took a few steps closer to Summer and the doctor, he stopped us. "I'm sorry," he said, clearing his throat, "but only family can go into the ICU."
Even though we didn't like it, we sat back down. I intertwined my fingers, struggling to calm my nerves. The next few days were never-ending. While the others went home, I stayed sitting in the uncomfortable ER waiting room chair.
"Matt."
I jumped when I felt someone kick my foot. I looked up to see Mitch standing above me with his arms folded. He sighed as he slightly shook his head.
"Go home."
"I'm good," I said, clearing my throat.
"No, you're not," he sighed. "You haven't slept, you've barely eaten, and you look like shit. Not to mention that you reek."
"I'm not leaving," I said sleepily.
"Matt," he sighed again as he sat next to me. "I know you feel guilty for what happened to Y/N, but the boat fire had nothing to do with you. If anyone is to blame, it's me. I was the one who didn't jump in after her soon enough. I keep hearing that damn underwater gunshot. It replays in my mind and my dreams. This was my responsibility. All of your safety falls on me. I failed Y/N. And Summer."
I suddenly realized how much this has been weighing down on him. His shoulders were tense, his back was hunched, and his eyes were heavy.
"Mitch," I said, making him look at me, "Y/N wouldn't blame you for anything that's happened. You jumped in, you found her, you brought her back to the boat. You saved her, Mitch. All I did was break her heart."
"About that," Mitch said, clearing his throat to cover his laugh. "What the hell, man? She told you how she felt, you shut her down, then she gets hurt and that makes you suddenly have feelings for her?"
"First of all," I sighed, "I didn't shoot her down. I didn't respond right away and she took that as me not having feelings for her. Second, I didn't say anything about "suddenly" having feelings for her."
"Hold on," he said, more anger in his voice. "After all the shit that's gone down, you actually have feelings for her?"
When he looked at me, he saw my answer clearly written on my face. He scoffed as he looked away, slightly shaking his head. When he looked back at me, I felt like a kid about to get scolded by my father.
"Please tell me you realize how much of an asshole you are," he scoffed.
"Mitch," I stuttered.
"Y/N is an amazing girl. You'd be lucky to have someone like her interested in you. Honestly, you don't deserve her anymore. Hell, you didn't deserve her when she told you how she felt. And if you walk into that hospital room and confess to having feelings for her all along. . ."
He didn't finish his threat. Instead, he stood up and wiped his hands on his pants. He was about to walk away but stopped. He didn't bother to turn around as he spoke up.
"By the way," he said through his teeth, "She's awake."
I watched Mitch leave before slowly standing up. I made my way down the hallway, my nerves jumping all over the place the closer I got to her. I hesitated outside her room, continually wiping my sweaty hands on my pants. Whenever I reached for the door handle, I never made it all the way to it. As I tried to reach for the handle again, the door swung open.
"Matt," Summer gasped. She looked over her shoulder before quickly closing the door. "I don't think you should be here."
"Summer, please," I stuttered. "I just want to. . ."
"You've done enough."
* * * * *
After Summer stopped me from going into Y/N's room, I was even more determined to talk to her. I waited for Summer to leave before sneaking back down the hallway. I ducked into Y/N's room, my breath getting caught in my throat when I turned and saw Y/N asleep in the hospital bed.
I felt numb as I walked over and sat next to her. I hesitated to grab her hand because I didn't want to wake her up. Instead, I sat back in the uncomfortable chair and thought about the last conversation Y/N and I had.
~•~
"Your sister is looking for you," I said. I got concerned when I noticed her still facing away from me. I slowly walked over and grabbed the gauze that was frozen in her hand.
"You okay?"
"I'm fine," she said, not at all convincingly.
"Y/N," I elongated. "You sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine," she said again, sounding less convincing than before.
"I'm in love with you."
I heard her suck in a breath the same time I sucked in one of my own. My mind instantly started going 100 miles an hour.
She was in love with me? Since when? Does everyone know? How could I not know?
"What?" I asked under my breath for clarity. I wanted, no needed to make sure I heard her right.
"Never mind," she stuttered. My heart sank when she started to leave the shack.
"Y/N," I said, trying to get her to look at me. My shoulders slightly sank when she remained facing the door. "What did you say?"
"Just forget it," she said quickly.
Right as she was about to leave, I quickly grabbed her hand and slowly turned her towards me. I tried to get her to look up at me but she kept her stare to the ground.
"Y/N?" I whispered. "Did you mean it? Are you really. . ."
"Yes," she forced out. When she finally looked up at me, her eyes sank. My heart clenched when I saw her struggling to hold back embarrassed tears.
"Y/N," I stuttered, "I'm not. . . It's not that . . . I'm sorry."
She roughly pulled her hand out of mine and cleared her throat like she was trying to get rid of a lump.
"Okay," she whispered.
"Y/N," I sighed.
"It's fine," she said before I could get a chance to explain what was going through my head. It wasn't that I didn't have feelings for her. The truth was, I wasn't sure how I felt about Y/N Quinn.
"I should umm. . . You're taking over, right? You're on the next shift? Okay, I'm gonna go then. Bye, Matt."
"Y/N," I said, trying to get her to stay and hear me out. "Please let's. . ."
I physically jumped when the South Lifeguard tower door shut between us. I sat on one of the extra chairs, my mind not stopping. I ran my fingers through my hair as Y/N's defeated and embarrassed look on her face was stuck in my head.
"I don't know how I feel about you," I mumbled to myself. "But I know I don't want to lose you."
~•~
I've always felt this pull towards Y/N. I just thought it was friendship. That is until she told me how she felt for me. I looked over at her, the guilt suffocating me.
"You don't get it," I whispered, shaking my head and looking away from her. "You left before I could explain. I wasn't stuttering that I didn't have feelings for you. I was stuttering that I wasn't sure. I know that's not better but. . ."
"Matt?"
My head snapped up when I heard my name weakly said. I was met with Y/N's Y/E/C eyes. I smiled as I scooted closer to her.
"Hi," I whispered.
"What are you doing here?"
"I had to see you," I started to ramble. "Look, I know things have been weird between us and I hate it. I absolutely hate this tension between us, Y/N. When you were gone, those were the worst two weeks of my life. I was miserable. I wanted to call you but Summer kept telling me to leave you alone."
"She what?" She asked softly but I kept talking.
"And then when you came back? I didn't know what to do or say. Whatever I rehearsed, didn't seem good enough. Then the boat fire. . . You were underwater for four and a half minutes. Mitch gave you CPR for the whole five-minute boat ride back to shore. The EMTs took over for three minutes before they hooked you up to the defibrillator. One minute and forty-two seconds later, you flatlined. That was the longest minute and forty-two seconds of my life."
"Matt," she said weakly, trying to interrupt me again.
"When you told me how you felt," I continued, "I didn't respond but not because I didn't have a response for you. It was because I was evaluating."
"Evaluating," she repeated. "Matt, what does that mean? Evaluating what?"
"Us," I said before I could stop myself. "I mean evaluating who you are to me. We've been good friends since you started at Baywatch, but I've always thought our relationship was stronger than just a simple friendship. And it wasn't until you left those two weeks that I realized it was a lot deeper than a simple friendship."
"What are you trying to say?" She asked hesitantly.
"I'm saying I have feelings for you," I said quickly. I watched as her eyes widened. She was studying me hard, probably trying to decide if I was being honest with her.
To help reassure her, I continued. "Y/N, I'm not just saying I have feelings for you because I almost lost you. I'm saying it because I didn't realize how I felt for you. I had a general idea but I wasn't sure exactly. I know this doesn't make much sense, but it's the truth. I care about you, Y/N, a lot. I'm sorry it took almost losing you for me to wake up and realize that I've loved you all this time."
I held my breath, waiting for her reaction. When her eyes filled with tears, I couldn't tell if they were happy tears or angry tears. The silence ate away at me, almost as much as the guilt.
"Please say something," I whispered. My breath got caught in my throat when she slowly smiled.
"Come here," she whispered.
I scooted the chair closer to Y/N's bed and grabbed her hand. I leaned down and pressed my lips to hers. The second our lips touched, we instantly started moving them in sync.
Every feeling I've felt since her confession intensified as we finally kissed. It was like everything we've been holding back, burst. Without breaking the kiss, I stood up and carefully crawled onto her bed until I was hovering over her. The kiss got heated as Y/N reached up, grabbed my shirt, and pulled me closer to her.
She moaned when I used the hand that wasn't holding me up to gently rub her hip. I smirked against her lips as I slowly slid that hand up her body. She gasped, breaking the kiss when I found and squeezed her boob. That surprised gasp turned into a painful one.
"Shit," I gasped, moving my weight off of her. "I'm so sorry, Y/N. I should've. . . You've been shot and I. . . I'm sorry. For everything. I never should've. . ."
"Matt," she whispered, cutting me off as she reached up and gently cupped my cheek in her hand. "It's okay."
"No," I stuttered. "It's not okay, Y/N. None of it is. I want to make it up to you. I need to make it up to you."
"Then take me on a date," she said so simply.
"What?"
"Take me on a date," she repeated.
I smiled, feeling like a giddy idiot as I laid down next to her. I let out a satisfied sigh as she immediately cuddled into my chest.
"As soon as you get out of here," I whispered, "I'm taking you on that date."

Stay With You
You get the call after Rook’s accident and go to the hospital to take care of him.
Requests: “ Could you maybe write another Rook story about where you get the call after his accident that he’s in the hospital and just always staying there with him and when his dad shows up he sees you leaning on the bed sleeping holding Rooks hand or something and he knows you’ll take care of him? I just really love Rook “ “ I was wondering if you know what happened to rook and if you could write something cute like taking care of him after being worried at first about him. I had a mental breakdown when we got the news I'm hoping he gets well soon “
JP “Rook” Cappelletty X Reader
Warnings: Cursing, mentions of the accident (violence, broken bones, etc.), angst
A/N: I have been following every update from Rook and his Dad bc I have been so worried. It looks like he’s finally able to go home tonight but I’m still going out of my mind. I tried my best to do what happened justice (without being too depressing) and ended up needing a part 2. I had to reread what happened like 30 times so y’all better enjoy this just for my heartbreak alone.

Tumblr media
You were always scared when you got a phone call from an unknown number when Rook was out for the night. You’d gotten calls from the police station and hospital more than once, so you’d learn to expect trouble when your phone rang.
But this was not what you were expecting.
“Excuse me, is this Y/N Y/L/N, the emergency contact for JP Cappelletty?” A female’s voice rang out through the line. You rolled your eyes.
“This is her, what did he do this time?” You smiled, figuring he’d gotten hurt doing something stupid and just needed stiches.
She cleared her throat, “Mr. Cappelletty has been involved in a serious accident. He’s currently at Southern California Hospital awaiting treatment.”
You felt like your entire body stopped working. Your throat closed up and you started shaking. A normal phone call wouldn’t use the words “serious accident,” they would just say he’d been admitted for “minor treatment.”
“Can I come see him?” You barely got the words out, mind spinning in a million directions. The lady on the end of the phone gave you an affirmation and you thanked her, hanging up quickly and packing a small bag for you and Rook. You threw some of his clothes in, some hygiene supplies for you both, and anything else you could think he’d want. You texted your boss a quick explanation and asked for the next few days off before grabbing your keys, wallet, mask, and Rook’s insurance cards, and heading out the door.
You drove to the hospital, calling Colson on your way, on speaker, of course. “Whaddup?”
“Rook is in the hospital.” You rushed out, still in a bit of a panicked mode.
You could hear his breathing pause before he continued, “it’s probably nothing, you know Rook. He probably just punched a guy or something stupid.”
You had tried to convince yourself of that, but something felt wrong about it. “I know, but the hospital said he was in a serious accident.” You emphasized the word “serious.” “Maybe I’m overreacting but I have this really bad feeling right now.”
Colson’s voice held more worry after your statement, too. “Okay. Just get there and figure out what’s going on and then call me. What hospital is he at?”
“Southern California.”
“That’s like 10 minutes away from me. If it is serious, just call me back and I can be there.” His voice was much calmer than yours, which you were thankful for.”
“Okay.”
“And Y/N,” He paused, “try to stay calm. If it is bad, he’s gonna need you to take care of him.”
You took in a deep breath, trying to slow your heartrate. “Yeah, yeah okay. Thanks.”
“Let me know what’s going on.”
“I will. Thank you, Kells.” You hung up the phone, pulling into the hospital parking garage and turning your car off. You sat in the dark for a few moments, gathering your thoughts, before heading towards the hospital. When you reached the front desk, you gave them Rook’s name and waited as they read your temperature from the touchless thermometer. You had to stop yourself from groaning as she started reading the Covid questionnaire, answering no to every question.
The lady gave you directions to his room, telling you they’ll take your ID once you get up to the fourth floor. Your hands were shaking as you rode the elevator up, and you tried to calm yourself down before you saw your boyfriend. Colson was right, you worrying wouldn’t do anything but make him nervous.
You gave your ID to the security guard on the fourth floor, impatiently waiting for him to print out your visitor’s sticker. Once you had put it on, you walked down the hallway, counting the room numbers to find his. Once you reached the door, you took a deep breath, unsure what you would find beyond it.
You opened it slowly, a sigh of relief when you saw him sitting on the bed, an ice pack pressed against his face. “Babe!” His face lit up when he saw you. He tried to lean forward on his own, but his grimace told you that it hurt him too much.
You smiled, setting the bag in your hands on the floor and adjusting the bed so he didn’t have to lean. “What happened?” You whispered, taking in his state, and pulling down your mask. He had a small bruise under his left eye and there were wires and tubes running up his left arm. His right arm was wrapped in layers of hospital bandage.
He frowned at you, left hand reaching for your hand and motioned you to sit down beside him, so you did, gently.  You wanted to hold his hand, but you were worried it would hurt him more, so you settled to rubbing his thigh gently. “I was walking around in the hills, and then these two guys came out of fucking nowhere. They jumped me and my friend and took a bunch of our shit. I punched one of them but the other one ran to his car and said he had a gun.” Your eyes went wide. “He didn’t have a gun, but he did have a car. And he literally came full speed at me and his partner.”
You tried to stay calm, but his recount of the night made you want to wrap him in bubble wrap and keep him in your house forever. “That sounds so scary, love.” You whispered, your free hand reaching out and stroking his right cheek. He leaned his head into your touch, a small smile on his face. “Did anyone see anything? Or does anyone know who they were?”
He shook his head lightly, “the guy in the car got away, but the other dude got hit too. Pretty sure he’s in this hospital. The cops came in and asked about it earlier, but I’d never seen those guys before.”
You nodded, leaning in, and pressing a soft kiss to his lips. “I’m very glad you’re okay.” You moved the ice pack from his face, observing the purple mark on his face. You may not know how to take care of broken bones, but you’d been with Rook through more than a few bruises and busted lips. You peppered kisses over the skin lightly, making him smile, which was the best thing you could do at the moment.
“The doctors are supposed to come back in soon. They did some X-Rays earlier to figure out exactly what’s broken, but my hand is definitely fucked up, and my legs.” He raised his right arm, showing you the cuts that ran along it. You frowned. “They said I’ll probably need surgery, which sucks.”
“I’m sorry, baby.” Your voice was soft. You reached your hand to move his braids out of his face, something you’d gotten in the habit of doing quite often.
He shrugged, “I’m fine with it, you’re the one who has to take care of me afterwards.” You smiled and shook your head teasingly.
“I do that anyways, loser.” You chuckled, before a thought popped into your head. “Should I call your dad? I told Colson but I didn’t think to call your dad.”
He shook his head lightly, “Once they told me they’d called you I texted him. He said he’d be here in an hour or so.” You nodded, moving to sit in the chair beside the hospital bed so you could be at eye level with your boyfriend instead of leaning down uncomfortably. “What did Kells say?”
You chuckled, “he said you’d probably just gotten in a fight or did something stupid.” Rook pouted dramatically. “I told him we’d let him know what was going on later and he could come to the hospital if you were up for it.”
He smiled at you as you leaned your head onto the bed, near his abdomen, and looked up at him. He reached to rest his hand on top of yours, even though you could tell it hurt him to do so. You sat in silence for a few moments until you heard a small knock on the door. “Come in.” Rook called, and you sat up, putting on your mask and turning to see who was coming in.
A woman in her early 40s walked in, followed by two younger men. “Hello again, Mr. Cappelletty. I’ve got the results from your scans.” She spoke as the other two placed X-Ray films onto a small lightboard in the room. “Oh, sorry. I didn’t realize you had company.” She said as she noticed you.
“Oh, it’s okay Dr. Tambi, this is my girlfriend, Y/N.” He smiled, looking towards you. You smiled kindly at the doctor. “She can stay, right?” He asked, his hand curling around yours lightly, you could feel the motion straining him and you flipped your hand around, holding his in yours lightly. You hoped it would hurt him less.
Dr. Tambi gave a nod and flashed you a smile, “of course.” She turned back to the films, pointing at the first one. “This is your left hand. If you look at this part right here, you can see where your second metacarpal fractured at the bottom near the carpal.” She raised her right hand, pointing to the bottom of her pointer finger near the knuckle. “So, we’re going to need to do a minor surgery to fix that up a little bit.” Rook nodded and you ran your hand up and down his arm gently. “Your right hand got off a bit easier,” she pointed to the next X-Ray. “No surgery, we’re gonna put it in a cast for a little while just in case but it might be off before you even leave the hospital.” You could feel him relax under your touch at that.
“But then your legs,” she pointed to the next images, “are a bit more complicated. I would imagine they took a brunt of the hit, correct?” She asked. He nodded again and you bit your lip, trying not to cringe at the image of your boyfriend being hit by a car. “The lower portion of your right tibia shattered into 3 pieces.” She pointed to the bone fragments in the X-ray, and this time a shiver physically went through your body. “So, we’ll need to do surgery to fix that up, too. And your left ankle has a hairline fracture that won’t need surgery, but you will have to stay off of it for a while.”
You looked at Rook, taking in the clench of his jaw. He was trying to look tough, but you could see through him, you always could. You knew he wouldn’t ask, so you did. “How long will they take to heal?”
He turned towards you, a soft smile on his face. You two worked so well because you balanced him out. Whenever he would almost get into a fight at a bar, you would be the rational one to pull him away. When you got too stressed out or uptight, he knew just how to get you to relax. When he was too nervous to think straight, you were there to ask all the right questions. You took care of each other, and you could read him like an open book.
“The left hand won’t need to stay in a cast for very long if the surgery goes well, but the left leg might be in a boot for 6 to 8 weeks, and the right leg will probably be a little bit longer, closer to 8 to 12 weeks.” Rook took in a deep breath, and the hand on his arm squeezed lightly, subtly telling him that you were there for him, and he would be okay. “Once we get the surgeries out of the way we can talk more about the treatment plan going forward, so try not to worry about it too much.” She smiled.
One of the men stepped forward, “I’m Dr. Stenson, I’ll be the anesthesiologist working with you.” Rook nodded towards the man, who continued to go over what Rook could and couldn’t do before the surgery. “How often do you drink or smoke?” He asked, and you let out a small chuckle.
Rook shoved you lightly, a small smile on his face. “Often.” He said, and you tried not to laugh.
“And what do you smoke?” He asked.
You mumbled under your breath, “what doesn’t he smoke is the better question.” Rook heard you, sending you a glare and you giggled quietly.
“Weed and cigarettes.” He said, trying to hide laughter as he watched you out of the corner of his eye. The man nodded and soon after the doctors left, leaving you and Rook alone again. “You’re so mean to me sometimes.” He pouted.
You laughed, “If it wasn’t so easy to make fun of you, I wouldn’t be so mean.”
“I got hit by a car, you have to be nice to me.” He whined and you rolled your eyes jokingly. “That’s a law.” He stated.
“Oh, is it?” You smiled, leaning forward, and pressing a kiss to his lips. “I guess I can be a little nice to you. For now.”
Rook’s expression turned serious, his eyes gazing into yours. “I’m kind of freaking out right now.” He whispered, his forehead resting against yours. “I’m not gonna be able to play for at least 8 weeks. What if I forget how to? Or what if they get into surgery and find out that it’s worse than they thought and I can never play again?”
You sighed, knowing these thoughts had been festering in him since the accident. You brought your hand up to his face, your thumb rubbing circles into his cheek. “Babe listen to me. You are the best drummer I know; you’ve been drumming for what, your entire life? You’re not gonna forget how to drum from 8 weeks off. And even if they get in there and find out its worse than they thought, which they won’t, we’ll figure it out. Everything is gonna be okay. They’ve seen worse fractures than these, trust me, they know what they’re doing.”
He nodded, letting out air through his nose. “But what if I could never drum again? I dropped out of high school. I’ve literally never done anything else except drum. I wouldn’t have money, I wouldn’t have friends because they would be touring all the time, I would lose everything.”
“You’d have me.” You whispered, “You would have me, and your dad, and all the people who really matter, even if they go on tour.”
“You would stay with me even if I was broke?” He sounded so small, so scared, and yet so amazed that you would even hint at the idea.
You frowned, confusion on your face. “I would stay with you if we were living on the streets and eating out of trash cans. But we wouldn’t be, because I also have a job and you’re going to be able to drum in no time.”
You simultaneously loved and hated this side of Rook. He never showed anyone how insecure he could be, and he was so insecure sometimes. You hated seeing him so sad. But you loved it, because you were one of the only people who did see it, because he trusted you enough to let you.
You guys had been friends for years and started dating 3 years ago after he kissed you, completely sober, in the studio while he thought the other guys were taking a break (they were really spying on you two the whole time). In those three years you’d come to know just about everything about each other. You trusted him with every piece of you, and he trusted you. You’d moved in together 2 years ago, and now everyone seemed to be waiting for a ring.
You didn’t mind waiting, you didn’t need to get married to know that Rook loved you or to know that you were going to spend the rest of your life with him. It was clear in the way you looked at each other that there would never be anyone else for either of you.
“I love you.” He mumbled, bringing a smile to your lips.
“I love you too.” You pressed another slow kiss to his soft lips. He closed his eyes as you did so, relaxing into it. You realized how tired he must be. “Why don’t you take a nap, J?” You whispered, and he mumbled a sound of protest, but you could already see him struggling against his sleepiness. “I’ll be right here when you wake up.” You ran your free hand over his forehead, his braids having fallen into his face again, before adjusting his bed so he was laying down more.
It only took you 15 minutes before you fell asleep, your head resting against his stomach and hand still in his.
A little while later, Johnny rushed in the room, worry on his face until he saw the two of you. He smiled, taking a quick picture that he would definitely be showing on your wedding day. You got a good one, son. He thought to himself, feeling a sense of his pride that JP had finally found someone as good as you who would put up with his shit.
He took the seat on the wall opposite of the hospital bed. You came to consciousness 20 minutes later, finding the older man and smiling. “Hi Mr. Cappelletty.” You whispered, not wanting to wake Rook up.
“Hey, darlin’. How’s he doing?”
You looked up at your boyfriend, a soft smile on your face as you took in his peaceful features. “He’s doing good, a little freaked out, I think, but he’s good.” The man nodded, and you continued. “They’re doing surgery on his hand tomorrow and then on his leg a few days from now.”
“Damn. Did he tell you what happened? All I got was a very vague text.”
You nodded, the smile falling. “I guess these guys jumped him while he was out and one of them got in a car and hit him.” Your breathing got heavy thinking about it and you could see Johnny’s eyes widen.
He took in a deep breath, processing what you told him. “Jesus, I just thought he’d got his ass kicked at some bar.”
“So did Colson.” You let out a short laugh, your heart not in it. Your hand moved up to run over his arm again. “He’s scared he’s not gonna be able to drum again.” You whispered, tears coming to your eyes as you took in Rook’s sleeping state. For the first time since you’d gotten the call you allowed your emotions to hit you fully, thoughts of how much worse it could’ve been and how scared he must’ve felt floating through your mind.
Johnny could hear the slight crack in your voice, and he walked over to where you were sitting, pulling you into his stomach. “He’ll be okay.” He whispered, “I raised a strong kid.”
You nodded, trying to hide your sniffles. “I know, I just- I can’t stop thinking about how much worse it could’ve been. If he-.” You bit your lip, not wanting to voice the thought out loud. “I can’t lose him.” Your voice was weak, and you weren’t even sure that the words came out.
Johnny pulled you closer, “I know, sweetheart. But you have to remember that he’s okay, it wasn’t worse.” You nodded. “You’re allowed to want him to stay inside for the next few months out of fear, that’s natural. You just gotta remember how lucky we are.”
You wiped your eyes gently, smiling up at the father of your soulmate. “Thank you.” You whispered.
He nodded, “He needs to remember how lucky he is to have you. There’re not many people who would stick around with him for 3 years. Not people like you.”
You smiled softly, looking at Rook with fondness in your eyes, “I’m lucky to have him, too.”
Johnny patted your shoulder, going back to where he was sitting. You grabbed a spare pillow from the table next to you and propped it on the bed , slightly on Rook’s lap. You laid your head on it, making sure Rook’s hand was in a comfortable position in your own, and drifted off to sleep.

Love and Medicine ~ 1
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2,300ish
Summary: You begin your intern year at Avengers Medical Center
Tumblr media
You let out a little groan as you turned around. You immediately knew you were naked as the cold wood floor sent chills down your bare body. Slowly opening your eyes, you took in your surroundings. You were home, in the house you had just inherited, boxes still pilled high around the living room you were laying in. Suddenly, someone else groaned beside you. You teased, clenching your eyes shut. The headache you had been ignoring since you woke finally broke free and you realized that your late night drunkenness must have caused you to bring a guy home.
You let out a long breath as you reopened your eyes and looked over at the hopefully-still-asleep man beside you. He wasn’t bad looking at all. You had really done well. He was blonde with a chiseled body. He had to have been at least six foot, which didn’t hurt. He was naked though, all out in the open on your living room floor. Cringing, you sat up, pulling one blanket from the couch to quickly cover yourself before standing and pulling one over him. You stood up silently, and began making your way out of the room. It was your first day of your intern year as a doctor, you couldn’t afford to be late.
You successfully made it to the doorway of the living room without a sound before the floorboard beneath you creaked. You should there, frozen, closing your eyes in hopes that the man sleeping behind you wouldn’t wake. You could hear him turn over, letting a small moan out of his mouth. Waiting a few more seconds, you started going again.
“You know…” the man started, clearly in his morning voice, “it’s usually rude to disappear on someone after spending a night with them.”
You quickly spun around to see him, still laying on his stomach, looking up at you with a sly grin.
“Well,” you cleared your throat, “it’s my house, so it’s not that rude.”
He stood up, not grabbing the blanket as quick as he should have, letting you have another look at him. When you met his eyes again, it was clear that you had been caught staring and that he was enjoying it.
“Why the rush to silently get out of here?” He asked, tucking the blanket around his waist. “Have a husband or a boyfriend you have to hurry and get ready for?”
“Neither,” you responded, tightening your hold on the blanket covering you. “I’m running late for my first day of work. So, if we’re done here, you should go.”
“We don’t have to be done here.”
“I think we do.” You kicked up his shirt, grabbing it, and throwing him at it. “You need to go.” He caught his shirt, slipping it on slowly over his clear cut abs. “So, um, goodbye… um…”
“Steve,” he reached his hand out.
“Steve. Right,” you shook his hand. “Y/N.”
“Y/N.” He smiled. It almost took your breath away, but you couldn’t let it show.
“Yeah.”
“Nice meeting you.”
“Yeah. Bye, Steve.”
You fled up the stairs, hoping that by the time you were done getting ready, Steve would be gone.
~~~
You made it to the Avengers Medical Center just in time to meet up with the other interns in your year. The Chief of Surgery, Dr. Nicholas J. Fury, was leading a small tour to the ORs. He started talking as the interns took in the OR.
“Each of you comes here hopeful. Wanting in on the game. A month ago you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today, you are the doctors,” Fury stated. “The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five of you will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play? That's up to you.”
He then told each of the interns which resident they were assigned to. You got Dr. Gamora. All of the interns were then taken to the locker room, where each of you were assigned a locker and given scrubs to change into and start your long day.
“Only ten women out of thirty,” you muttered as you slipped your scrubs on.
“Yeah,” the woman with fiery red hair next to you responded. “I heard that one of them was a model. Seriously, like that’s going to help with the respect thing?”
“You’re Natasha, right?”
She nodded. “You’re Y/N?”
“Mhm,” you hummed.
“Which resident did you get assigned to? I got Gamora.”
“Me too.”
“You got Gamora?” A male intern repeated beside you. “So did I. At least we’ll all be tortured together, right? I’m Clint Barton, uh, we met at the mixer. You had a dress with a slit up the side, those shiny heels…” You and Natasha exchanged looks. “Now you think I’m gay.”
“Uh-huh,” Natasha hummed, heading out the door.
“No, I’m not gay! It’s, ah, it’s just that, you know, you were, I mean… You were very unforgettable,” Clint rambled as you both followed after Natasha. You shot him a sympathetic smile before hurrying to catch up with Natasha. “And I’m totally forgettable.”
“Barton, L/N, Romanoff, Valkyrie, Lang,” a doctor called at the door way.
“Gamora?” Natasha questioned that doctor that called you.
“End of the hall.”
The five of you that were called began walking. At the end of the hall, you saw a pretty woman working on paperwork. She didn’t look as threatening as you had heard she was.
“That’s Dr. Gamora?” Natasha wondered.
“From what I heard, I thought she’d look scarier,” the other male in your group of five said. You guessed it was Scott Lang.
“Yeah,” Clint agreed. “I thought she’d be… well, bigger.”
“Same,” you added.
“Maybe it’s professional jealousy,” a woman in your group suggested, Valkyrie, you presumed. “Maybe she’s brilliant, and they say things about her because they’re jealous. Maybe she’s really nice.”
“Please don’t tell me you’re the model,” Natasha said.
“Wait…” Clint said, looking at Nat. “I thought you were the model.”
Valkyrie shot Natasha a look before turning to Dr. Gamora with an extended hand. “Hi, I’m Valkyrie, but everyone calls me Val.”
Gamora looked her up and down, not even moving to shake Val’s hand. “I have five rules,” Gamora stated, clearly unimpressed already. “Rule number one, don’t bother sucking up, I already hate all of you, that’s not gonna change.” She turned and pointed to things on the counter. “Trauma protocol, phone lists, pagers. Nurses will page you, you answer every page at a run. A run, that's rule number two. Your first shift starts now and lasts forty-eight hours.”
Gamora began walking away with you and the others quickly following, after each of you have grabbed the things off the counter.
“You’re interns, grunts, nobodies, bottom of the surgical food chain, you run labs, write orders, work every second night till you drop and don’t complain!” She continued. Gamora led you to a door, opening it to reveal a room with bunk beds. “On call rooms. Attendings hog them, sleep when you can, where you can, which brings me to rule number three, if I'm sleeping, don't wake me, unless your patient is actually dying. Rule number four, the dying patient better not be dead when I get there, not only would you have killed someone, you would have also woke me for no good reason, we clear?” There was a brief pause before you nervously raised your hand. “Yes.”
“You said five rules,” you tried to hold back a cringe as you spoke up. “That was only four.”
Suddenly, Gamora’s pager beeped. “Rule number five. When I move, you move.” She ran down the corridor, followed by you and the other interns. “Get out of my way!” She yelled at a few doctor’s blocking the hallway.
You had the others followed Gamora to the ER. There was a bustling trauma room that the six of you entered. There was a young female on the stretcher, already being hooked to the machines.
“What’ve we got?” Gamora asked.
“Savannah Chase, fifteen year old female,” the paramedic still in the room stated. “New onset seizures, intermittent for the past week. ID lost en route. Started gran mal seizing when the ambulance pulled up.”
“Alright, get her on her side, Val, ten milligrams Diazepam.” Val started to do as she was directed while the rest of you watched. “No, no, the white lead is on the right, righty whitey, smoke over fire, a large bore IV. Don’t let the blood haemolyse, let’s go!”
Val injected the young woman with the diazepam and she stopped seizing. A new Doctor entered the room.
“So I heard we got a wet fish on dry land?” The man asked.
“Absolutely Dr. Banner,” Gamora responded.
“Dr. Gamora, I’m gonna shotgun her.”
“That means every test in the book, CT, CBC, chem seven, a tox screen,” Gamora clarified for the interns. “Natasha, you’re on labs, Clint, patient workups, Y/N, get Savannah for a CT, she’s your responsibility now.” Gamora began to walk away.
“Wait,” both Val and Lang called out. Gamora turned back around.
“What about us?” Val asked.
“You two—honey, you get to do rectal exams.”
~~~
You were currently in an elevator with Savannah, the patient, trying to find your way to CT. Since it was your first day at the medical center, you didn’t know where anything was and you were too stubborn to ask.
“You’re lost,” Savannah stated.
“I’m not lost,” you defended. “How are you feeling?”
“How do you think I’m feeling? I’m missing my pageant.”
“You’re missing your pageant.” You wheeled her out of the elevator and around a corner, still not knowing where you were headed.
“The Manhattan Teen Miss? I was in the top ten after the first two rounds. This is my year. I could’ve won.” Savannah sat up as she was wheeled back around the same way. “Hello? You’re so lost. What are you, like, new?”
“I’m— just tell me what happened.”
“I twisted my ankle. I do rhythmic gymnastics, which is like, really cool. Nobody else does it. And I tripped over my ribbon, and I didn't get stuck with someone this clueless. And that was like, a nurse.”
You gritted your teeth, trying not to be over-the-line rude to a patient on your first day. It took you almost another forty five minutes to find CT. You helped her with the scan before taking her back to a room. Before you knew it, it was lunch time. You grabbed some food from the cafeteria, finding your group of interns alone at a table.
“Savannah Chase is a pain in the ass,” you grumbled as you sat down with your tray. “If I hadn't taken the Hippocratic oath, I'd Kevorkian her with my bare hands.” The others around her just stared. “What?”
“Good afternoon interns,” a new doctor came up. “I’m Dr. Maria Hill. It’s posted, but I thought I’d share the good news personally. As you know, the honor of performing the first surgery is reserved for the intern that shows the most promise. As I’m running the OR today, I get to make that choice. I’ve been watching you all and I have to say, you’re all something. The intern I’ve chosen is, Scott Lang.”
Scott coughed up the drink he had been taking. “M-me?” He questioned.
“You’ll scrub in for an appendectomy this afternoon. Congratulations.” Then she left.
“Did she say me?”
“I can’t believe you were chosen over me,” Natasha grumbled. “It’s already clear that I’m a better surgeon that you.”
“Did she say… I’m sorry. What?”
~~~
After lunch, you went back to Savannah’s room to take care of her. As you did, a man and a woman, not doctors, came in.
“Savannah, honey, mom and dad are here,” the woman said, coming over to Savannah’s bedside.
“They gave her a sedative for the CT scan, so she’s a little groggy,” you informed them.
“Will she be alright?” The mother asked.
“Our doctor at home said she might need an operation, is that true?” The father wondered.
“What kind of operation?”
“She’s, um, well, you know what,” you tried your best to sound professional through your nervous stuttering, “I’m not, I’m not the doctor, uh. I am a doctor, but I’m not Savannah’s doctor, so I’ll go get him for you.”
You quickly left the room to go find Gamora. Thankfully, she was at the nurses desk just outside of the room. You hurried over but were too nervous to start speaking.
“What?” Gamora questioned, not looking up from the paperwork she was doing.
“Savannah’s parent’s have questions,” you responded. “Do you talk to them, or do I ask Banner?”
“No, Banner’s off of the case. Savannah belongs to the new attending now, Dr. Rogers, he’s over there.”
You follow in the direction that Gamora gestured to. You only made it a few steps before freezing. The man Gamora gestured to was talking to another doctor. But that wasn’t the reason you froze. Dr. Rogers was none other than your one night stand, Steve. Your eyes widened and you turned to go, but it was too late. Steve glanced your way, having to do a double take. You quickly left, feeling his eyes on the back of you.
“Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.”
You weren’t sure how this case slipped from the team’s control so quickly, but somehow you were alone, on the floor with two black eyes and at least three broken ribs. It was hard to breathe, and something really didn’t feel right.
The unsub was unconscious beside you, felled by a well-placed kick to the jaw. You crawled to your cell phone. Slowly. Painfully.
The coughs that shuddered from your lungs were wet and heavy and you could barely see. You turned your phone on and called Penelope, falling unconscious before you could say anything. With any luck, she would be able to find you with just that much.
+++
Hotch’s knuckles were white where his fingers strangled the steering wheel. His only focus was the coordinates he just received. Ignored was Emily’s death grip on the handle above the door. Ignored was JJ leaning into the front over the center console, getting more tactical information from Derek, who was still at the precinct. Ignored was the ache in his clenched jaw.
The door to the house nearly fell off its hinges when Hotch kicked it open, the SUV forgotten on the lawn behind him. Emily followed, striding through the house and clearing every room before moving on.
Hotch made a beeline for the basement, the door carelessly left open. The lack of sound acutely disturbed him, and he pushed away images of Haley’s body, laying silent on the floor of their guest room.
Silence, he knew, often meant unpleasant surprises.
JJ’s light footsteps followed behind him as he descended. He saw the unsub right away, stirring at the foot of the stairs. JJ branched off, checking the unsub’s pulse before rolling him over and cuffing him. She called for Emily, but the rushing in Hotch’s ears made it hard to hear anything.
He knelt beside you, finding a pulse and rattling, labored breathing. There was blood weeping from wounds laced across your side, arm, and thigh. He put pressure on the worst of it, his white button-down a lost cause. stained red to the elbow.
Images of Haley and Kate flashed before his eyes, and blinked them away, violently shaking his head.
“Call medics! Now!” He lifted your head, supporting it in the crook of his arm as he did his best to cover your wounds with his bare hands.
You coughed, your consciousness returning for a moment, “Aaron.” and there was blood. “Aaron...”
“You’re okay, honey. It’s okay. I’m here. Medics are on their way, I promise. I love you. You’re okay. I love you.” He wanted that to be what you heard, so you weren’t scared, so you stayed awake.
So much blood.
+++
The waiting room was quiet. Hotch sat with his elbows on his knees, blood still spattered on his shirt, staining his hands, streaked across his face. He’d done his best to give the paramedics the space they needed to work, but it was hard to watch as you struggled for breath.
One of your ribs had punctured a lung, collapsing it. They said surgery would be a couple hours, but there was a good chance you’d make it. “A simple patch,” the nurse said.
Aaron stared into nothing, his eyes close to crossing as the tiles blurred in front of him. Belatedly, he realized the blur was tears.
A hand on his shoulder startled him. Dave.
“It’ll be alright, Aaron.”
He barked a quiet, humorless laugh. His voice was raw when he replied. “How can you know that?”
“Because I know you.” Dave paused. “And I know there’s more to it than what we all see in the office.”
A bag was dropped at Aaron’s feet, in front of a pair of boots.
“Hotch, you need to get cleaned up.” Derek’s voice was shockingly gentle.
Aaron looked up for the first time in what felt like hours. JJ, Spencer, and Emily stood a little off to the side. With a sigh, he heaved himself to his feet and snatched the bag from the floor.
It was hard for him to wash your blood from his hands and face. It felt like a piece of you, washing down the drain. His hands shook as he washed them over and over, well above his elbows.
As much as he hated to admit it, the soft grey cotton of his shirt felt much better against his skin than his sticky, stiff dress shirt. He mechanically slipped on a pair of worn jeans and sneakers, thankful he thought to pack them in the extra compartment of his go bag.
One of your sweatshirts was at the bottom of the duffle, probably from the last time you spent an unsanctioned night in his hotel room.
He held it to his face, your familiar smell overwhelming his senses. When he placed your sweatshirt back into his bag and packed away his soiled clothes, his hands weren’t shaking so much. His breath came easier.
The air conditioning felt cool against his bare arms when he finally left the bathroom, returning to the huddle in the corner of the waiting room. JJ was doing her best not to pace. She was seated, her leg bouncing and the inside of her cheek firmly planted between her teeth. She looked ready to jump to her feet at any moment, which probably explained –
Derek, sitting beside her, his arm looped through hers and his legs splayed out before him.
Dave sat with his head bowed, and Hotch was near-certain he was praying. Emily sat beside him, her head on his shoulder. Her eyes were closed, but she wasn’t sleeping. Her brows were far too drawn for that, her mouth too tense. She was picking at her nails. Again.
Spencer, of course, was reading, but he couldn’t sit still. He shifted and shuffled every few minutes.
+++
“Goddamn it.”
Hotch smacked the vending machine with the heel of his hand. It had already eaten five dollars, and his patience was admittedly running thin. It was the fourth hour of your surgery, and he was feeling the weary weight of constant vigilance.
“Hey. Hotch.” Emily trotted up to him and put a hand on his shoulder. “Let me.”
She gently fed another bill into the machine, and a bag of chips met their match and landed at the bottom. She handed the bag to Aaron and guided him to a nearby bench.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on with you two, or should I take a guess?”
Aaron sighed and pulled a hand down his face. “Do we have to do this right now?”
“It’s as good a time as any. Neither one of us are going anywhere.”
“Prentiss...” He trailed off, not sure where to start. He looked over at her. “Emily.”
She shuffled closer to him and mirrored his posture, her elbows resting on her knees, fingers loosely laced. “Just start from the beginning.”
So he did.
He told her about meeting you in the elevator for the first time.
He told her about the way you tripped up the stairs just outside the entrance to the office the second time you saw each other, your files scattering on the snow-dusted concrete.
He told her about the way you made him laugh.
He told her about your first date a few months later, and how he couldn’t get you out of his head.
He told her how you were with Jack, how often his son asked to see you and the way you always gave him your full attention.
He told her about your transfer into the unit, the dichotomy between the joy of having you beside him and the fear for your safety in the field.
He told her that he loved you, in so many words.
“I feel alive,” he said. “I can’t lose –“ He cut himself off and swallowed thickly.
“That’s not gonna happen. It’s not. You’ll both go home at the end of this.” She bumped his shoulder playfully. “And I am the authority on near-death experiences, here.”
Aaron gave her a small smile in spite of himself.
Emily stood and brushed imaginary crumbs from her pants in an authoritative and decisive fashion. “Now, I’m getting you some coffee. Eat your chips, Hotch. Try to taste them, too.”
She’d only taken three steps, when -
“Hey, Emily?”
She turned over her shoulder. “Yeah?”
“Thank you.”
+++
You opened your eyes to the image of Derek sitting next to your bed, peering at you.
“Jesus Christ, Morgan.” You couldn’t help but jump a little, and your ribs twinged. “You scared the shit out of me.”
He grinned at you. “So. You and Hotch?”
You rolled your eyes, and even that hurt. “Seriously? How long have you been sitting there waiting to ask me that?”
“Three and a half hours.”
You opened your mouth to retort, but Aaron stepped in before you could draw breath. You watched him as he crossed the room with purpose and set his coffee down.
Ignoring Derek entirely, he leaned over and pressed a kiss to your lips, then your forehead. He took your hands in his and pressed kisses to those, too.
“Feeling better?” He asked. The transformation of the man who walked through the door and the man that held your hands was stark. His eyes were softer, brighter, his shoulders lower.
You nodded, smiling fondly at him. “Much better, now.”
A noisy sigh erupted behind you. “Guys...c’mon.”
You looked back over at Derek with a smile, the shadow of Aaron looming over your shoulder.
+++
At the end of it, you were fine. Your lung was repaired (for the most part), your wounds mended. The hardest part was taking time off, and the physical therapy.
Physical therapy sucked.
Most afternoons found you spending time with Jack at the apartment. As soon as your arm was strong enough to manage a controller again, you spent hours playing his favorite games with him while the team was away on cases.
Your office at home had become essentially a satellite BAU hub. The team phoned you in to almost every case, and you took a great amount of joy curating maps and profiles from your office. The display was rather beautiful, at the end of it. Notes and photos and maps all over the walls.
There were footsteps behind you as you finished pinning a post it to the board. “Hi, jet-setter.” You turned around and quirked a smile at him, admiring him in one of his new suits. He walked toward you, leaving his briefcase at the door.
He framed your face with his hands and you leaned into him. He kissed you gently, and you slid your hands under his suit jacket. The light, spicy scent of his cologne hit your nose and you smiled against his mouth.
“I missed you out there,” he said, his lips traveling down your neck and jaw.
You huffed a laugh, and you planted your hands in his hair. “I was on video with Penelope the whole time.”
He hummed into your skin. “Not the same and you know it.” He pulled back, running his hands over your upper arms.
You watched him take stock of you, his eyes tracing over the scars on your forearm, your pinkie that wouldn’t quite sit straight anymore, and the nebulizer on your desk behind you. “I’m alright, Aaron.”
He kissed your cheek and wrapped his arms around you, holding you to his chest. “I know.” Your hands curled around the fabric of his dress shirt at his sides. He tucked his head and pressed his lips to your skin. “I know.”
Previously on Waves
“Now back to the news that broke headlines just last night. Academy Award-Winning Actress Summer Hemsworth was allegedly attacked in her Georgia hotel room last night. Hemsworth suffered two gunshot wounds and reportedly collapsed in the lobby as horrified onlookers called 911 and attempted to stop the bleeding.”
“She was rushed to the local hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery, and as of now, we are hearing reports that she is in stable condition.”
“While details are still unclear, what we do know is that the attacker is now deceased, reportedly at the hands of Summer, who fought him off. In addition, the perpetrator has been identified as Myles Hampton, the same man who stalked and attacked Mrs. Hemsworth almost six years prior.”
“Hampton was sentenced and serving a 15-year sentence which has the world wondering. How did he get out? How was he able to re-traumatize his victim? How--”
“Mommy.”
His son’s voice ripped Christopher from his phone where he was watching the news for reasons even he couldn’t explain. Well, rather, didn’t want to explain.
Elysha glared at her brother, bringing her index finger to her mouth. “Shh. Papa said we gotta be quiet.”
Summer moaned, finally waking up from another nap. They had her on heavy painkillers that made her sleep, much to the chagrin of all four individuals occupying the private hospital room. For the twins, sleep meant she couldn’t talk to them. They needed to hear her voice to know that she was going to be okay.
For Christopher, well, even awake, he still worried.
And for Summer, she just hated to be unconscious as she recognized the concern that it caused her family.
“Did he now?” She whispered, blinking a couple times as she managed to lift her hand, bringing it to Emmett’s cheek. “Well, mama says you don’t have to.”
Both kids responded with a smile, quickly grabbing the sheets on either side of the bed, where they’d remained the entire time.
They wouldn’t leave her side.
“Look, mama,” Elysha chimed as they lifted the papers. “We drew you pictures. Mines is bestest.”
“Nu uh!”
“Uh huh!”
She smiled, ignoring the pain she was still experiencing. It mattered not though. She’d take the pain of survival over the finality of death any day.
“They’re both the bestest,” Summer shared, making both of them grin for a few seconds when she noticed Elysha drop her head. “What’s wrong, baby?”
Elysha took a few seconds, her voice barely above a whisper. “We’re glad you’re okay, mommy.”
“Yeah,” Emmett agreed. “Why’d that mean man try to hurt you, mama?”
Summer closed her eyes. Her pain was no longer a concern. Her priority was the hurt she saw and heard in her children, her beautiful babies prematurely forced to encounter the evils of this world.
“I-”
“Well, it’s about time you woke up, lil’ missy.” Helen spoke with a warm smile as she walked into the room.
Seeing their grandmother raised their spirits just enough to eat away some of Summer’s guilt. Helen walked over and gently felt her daughter’s head. “How you doing, baby?”
Summer, conscious of the watchful set of blue eyes on her, smartly replied. “I’m good, mama.”
Helen nodded. “I see you’re getting some of your color back. Good. You was getting a lil’ pale on me, lil girl.”
Elysha gasped. “Can I have some of mommy’s color, grandma!”
“Me too, grandma!”
The twin’s excitement and naivety made Summer smile. Their uplifted spirits nursed her soul.
“I don’t know about color, but how about you two come with grandma to the cafeteria, and we’ll see what kind of ice cream they have.”
The promise of their favorite dessert quickly dimmed when they realize it meant leaving their mom.
“But-”
“Ya’ll go. Mama has to talk to papa,” Summer referenced Christopher who’d sat silent while allowing the children time to bond with their mother. “Please?”
Emmett groaned but relented. “I’ll bring you ice cream back, mama.” He looked back at Christopher. “You too, papa!”
“I’ll bring you some too, papa!”
Careful kisses on either side of her cheeks preceded the kids finally walking out hand in hand with Helen.
The sound of tiny footsteps repeatedly diminished until they could be heard no more, replaced by heavy-footed strides and the creaking of a chair. Summer closed her eyes at his warm touch, his hand clasped over hers, the other going to her forehead.
He laid his head against her shoulder, Summer angling her own so that she could kiss the top of his head.
She gently tightened her grip on his head. “I’m fine, Christopher.”
“Don’t.” She licked her lips, concern shifting from her kids to her husband. “Don’t give me that shit, Summer. You are not fine.”
“I’m alive, Chris,” she croaked, wanting desperately to stress how grateful she was. “He shot me. Twice. And I’m alive.”
“This never should have fucking happened. If they’d been watching him, he would have never-”
“Hey,” she forced some bass into her voice. “We can’t do that. It happened, and it-it sucks, but-”
“How can you be so calm about this?” He forced out bitterly, finally lifting his head to reveal glazed eyes that burned with fear and rage. “After everything he did, what he tried-”
She attempted the comedic route, something that typically worked for them. “Well, it’s not like this is the first time I’ve almost died.” The dark joke fell through, possibly increasing his irritation. She swallowed. “I-I think-I still don’t know what to think, Chris. I-It’s a lot to process, but I can’t do that right now. Emmett and Elysha are watching us, watching me, and every time I look at them, look at you, I’m reminded of everything I stood to lose, and I’m just-I’m thankful. And the last thing that I want is to further worry the twins…or you.”
He lifted their conjoined hands and gently kissed her fingertips. Summer recognized the gesture as acknowledgment.
“I love you,” she breathed as he moved his mouth to kiss her inner forearm. “So much.”
He brought his hand to her cheek, their eyes meeting with a burning and moving meeting that conferred the ardent love between them but was now tinged with a new emotion.
Fear
Wild Hearts
“Just a few more seconds. Come on, Summer.”
Face scrunched up in discomfort, the actress swallowed her pain and scraped for every bit of resilience that she had left, successfully completing the set before relaxing as soon as her therapist gave her the okay.
Dropping onto the floor, Summer crossed her wrists and placed them over her head. Deep, relaxing breaths abated her nerves and aching muscles as Rene attempted to offer words of encouragement and praise that Summer was only halfheartedly listening to.
It wasn’t that Rene was bad at her job. No, far from it. She was a wonderful physical therapist who pushed Summer in ways that were both challenging while also welcoming. It was that Summer still hadn’t come to accept that she was back at square one. She felt like she was preparing to become Storm all over again. Relearning suddenly replaced years of maintenance. Her schedule had been disrupted, and it created cognitive dissonance.
Hand unconsciously falling onto her core, her fingers slid over the dark scar that still bled with remnants of trauma and regrets. One of two, it was the most prominent and noticeable. Folks rarely paid attention to feet, but the stomach, it was the area that generally garnered a decent amount attention based solely on the level of flatness.
Rene noticed the way Summer’s fingers stroked her slick skin and cleared her throat. “Why don’t we call it a day?”
“The day has been called, ma’am.”
The ginger grinned crookedly and complimented her client. “You did great today.”
Summer snorted, groaning quietly as she sat up and braced her palms against the mat. “Now you’re just kissing my ass.”
“While you do have quite the ass,” Summer rolled her eyes. “I’m not quite sure how my wife and your husband would feel about that.”
Summer rolled her eyes as Rene reached a hand to help her stand up. “Noted.” Rolling her shoulders, Summer walked over to grab her pink Blender Bottle, downing down the water mixed with lemons and limes. The typically acrid mixture was welcoming because of the addition of ice cubes that quenched her parched throat, assisting in the cooling down of her warm body.
“I think we could even maybe move down to twice a week instead of three.”
Swallowing a couple more ounces, Summer lowered her cup and wiped at her mouth. “Seriously?”
Rene nodded as she crossed her arms. “I meant it. You’re doing great.” A beat. “Physically.”
And just like that, Summer rolled her eyes and turned her body to start packing up her items. “Here we go again.”
Rene already knew that she was going to be met with apprehension, but that didn’t dissuade her. “I can only help you rehabilitate your body, Summer. But your mind—”
“—is fine.”
Rene stilled, her green eyes softening. “You can say that until you’re blue in the face, but it makes no difference if you don’t really believe it, and I don’t think you do.”
Summer stilled, her back toward the tall woman. A part of her, a very small part of her, wanted to switch things up. She wanted to entertain the conversation, just to see how it would play out, but another part of her knew exactly how it would play out, so she did as she’d done a lot lately.
“So, same time next week?” She spun around, swinging her bag over her shoulder. Before the other woman could offer a response, Summer shot her a wink and walked past her. “Thank, Rene.”
As if on cue, Phillip’s large frame appeared in the doorway, and Summer’s grin fell.
Arms clasped in front of him, he nodded in acknowledgment. “Ready, Mrs. Hemsworth?”
An elongated sigh escaped as she approached him and managed to reignite her previous smile. “I told you, Summer is fine, but yeah, I’m ready.”
A grunted response that she couldn’t really make out proceeded him opening the door for her only to quickly move back in front of her so that he was blocking her view. For a man his size, he was impressively quick on his feet.
A few more doors, elevator ride down, and Summer was met with the blistering Australian heat as a firm hand moved to her backside and escorted her out the building. Out the corner of her eye, she spotted the photographers who snapped away, a few inching close to the star but not enough where they were in arms reach of Phillip.
They weren’t stupid.
Phillip had served as a bodyguard for some of the most important figures across the world, celebrities and royals included. His resume was impeccable, and he was damn good at his job, a job that, while she respected, Summer felt suffocated by at times.
The fact that she even had a full-time bodyguard was something that she still hadn’t swallowed. She’d always been vocal and open about the fact that she loathed the whole “barrier” between celebrities and “regular degular” people. Her occupation, in her option, shouldn’t place her on a pedestal.
Plus, she was far from hopeless, and so a bodyguard was something could never get with unless they were provided by the event she was attending.
But a certain husband of hers was absolutely adamant about hiring the 24/7 protection following the attack, and while Summer understood his reasoning, she still wasn’t in agreement.
Not that it mattered…
The drive was short as the outpatient treatment center was only about twenty minutes away from the Hemsworth residence. Once they reached the mansion, Summer relieved Phillip from his duties. She had no plans on going out again. Christopher was picking up the kids from school. She’d maybe take Doggy out for a walk on the beachfront, but that didn’t require the 6”3 giant’s presence.
Not even three seconds into the door, Christopher was in front of his wife, hands on her hips as he pecked her lips.
“Hey, honey.”
Summer faltered only for a second before chewing on her bottom lip. “Damn, waiting for someone?”
“Always.” He winked and smacked her ass, prompting her to try to push him away.
“I need to shower,” she protested with a small pout as he brushed her comment off and slyly lowered his mouth down to her ear.
“I’ll join you.”
Summer grinned, momentarily contemplating his offer. “Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?”
“We are married, aren’t we?”
“I mean….” She laughed at his scowl and managed to pull away, walking past him to make her way up the steps. “Can you make us—”
Summer stopped and turned around on the second step only to see that was directly in front of her, on the first step.
She lifted a brow. “Sir?”
“What?”
She crossed her arms. “I’m pretty sure that I said n—Christopher!” She squealed as he silenced her by picking her up and throwing her over his shoulder. “Put me down!”
“I am going to put you down,” he responded while continuing their track up the stairs. “On my dick.”
“Christopher!”
————
Summer rolled over on her side and ran her hand over her face, eyes shut as she struggled to catch her breath. Holding onto the pillow, she pulled the blanket up to her neck, depriving her nude body of the chilly air that the AC caused to consume their room.
She smiled softly as her husband kissed her temple. Feeling the bed creak, he peaked and saw him moving out the way as he started to pull on his clothes. Leaning on her back, she grabbed her phone off the nightstand and saw that it was time for him to leave to pick up the twins.
How long were we?
“Phillip will be here in a few minutes—”
Summer frowned. “What?” She sat up, not caring that the sheet fell down, exposing her breast. “Baby, I told him he could go home for the day.”
Christopher stood up, pulling his pants on. “Why would you do that?”
She looked from side to side. “Because I don’t need him? I didn’t plan on going out today.”
“But you knew that I had to go pick up the kids, so you’d be alone.”
Summer closed her eyes. “Christopher….”
The chime of his phone interrupted her as he glanced at the screen to see that Phillip had arrived and entered the house using the key that Chris thought was a good idea to provide him with. “He’s here. I have to get going.”
Summer frowned and leaned back against the headboard. “Okay.”
Looking back over to see that she was still dissatisfied, he walked over and sat on the bed, reaching out to cup her cheek. “Why don’t you come with me?”
Her brows furrowed. “Seriously? Christopher, you’ve already called the man over here.”
“And?” Chris didn’t see a problem. “He’s staying the night—”
“Again?” Summer was no longer so disappointed. She was irritated. “That’s the third damn time this week.”
“Okay?”
Summer scoffed and moved away from him, crossing her arms. “You know, I would appreciate it if you would actually, maybe, communicate with me before you make these decisions.”
“What is there to talk about, Summer?” He watched her move to the other side of the bed as she kicked the blanket off and scurried around to gather her clothes. “You need pro—”
“No, Christopher, what I need is for you to stop treating me like a child!” A beat. “I can take care of myself!”
“Like you did with Myles?”
Summer clutched the shirt in her hand at the same moment Chris closed his eyes. “Fuck, Summer—“
“You can go to hell,” she whispered, yanking her shirt over her head and marching past him, snatching her arm away from him when he reached for her. “Don’t—“ she stopped, eyes closing as she fought the sob in the back of her throat. “—touch me.”
Christopher recognized that tone. It was rare, but when present, he recognized that nothing he could say or do could penetrate the impenetrable exterior that was Summer’s wall.
The slamming of the bathroom door indicated what he already knew. Walking over to the door and placing his ear against it, welcoming it to the quiet sobs of his wife confirmed it.
He’d fucked up.
mute
pairing - spencer reid x reader
summary - an injury causes you to go mute for awhile, spencer is there to help you
warnings - injuries, gruesome details, mentions of case
word count - ?
Tumblr media
you could barely stand up. the unsubs rough hand clutching the back on your neck was the only thing keeping you on your feet.
while your physical injuries at the moment we’re super bad, you still had immense bruising all over your body. through your blurry vision, you managed to look at at year team, who all had their guns pointed at the unsub. this case was never supposed to be like this.
the team was called out to indianapolis for a series of murders of young women around the city. while investigating one of the victims house, you had been knocked unconscious and kidnapped before the team could even realize what had happened.
it was only a day or so you were gone but in that time, the unsub was barely around you. all you could do was sit in the chair you were tied to. however you had been hurt just enough so you weren’t strong enough to escape. when the unsub was cornered, he had held you by your neck with a knife pointed towards the team.
“you don’t have to do this man!” you heard morgan shout.
suddenly, the blade of the very sharp knife was placed against your neck. a stream blood began to flow from your neck to your chest, soaking your shirt a crimson color.
“it’s too late,” the unsub called back.
everything happened incredibly quickly. in one swift movement, the unsub slashed your throat, creating a deep cut. you knew you were due to bleed out in meer moments. as your body fell to the ground, three gunshots sounded. between the ringing in your ears and your slit throat, you were in immense pain.
muffled yelling was the only thing you could hear. the fuzzy figures of your team appeared over you. some form of a clothe was pressed tightly against your neck, helping the blood flow lessen but allowing you to breath at the same time.
your whole body jerked slightly. all you wanted to do was say something but you couldn’t. it only took a minute for the pain to become too much and your eyes fluttered shut.
paramedics rushed into the building just after you passed out. the team stepped back, watching the emt’s move your body onto a stretch while applying pressure to your wound.
spencer stood a small distance away from everything. his hands were shaking in front of him as blood coated up to his wrists. blood was under his fingernails too. it was your blood. morgan moved towards the genius as your body was loaded into the ambulance.
“come on kid, let’s get you cleaned up,” morgan spoke, wrapped his arm around spencer’s shoulder and leading him out.
the blood was soon scrubbed off of spencer’s skin, leaving a pool of red in the sink at the hospital. spencer, morgan, j.j., and hotch had all headed to the hospital while emily and rossi went to the police station. they needed to get some paperwork before they could visit. hotch was initially going to go with rossi but upon his rememberance that he was your emergency contact, just like with the rest of the team, he went with the others. you and spencer had discussed putting each other down but with the luck you both had, you went with hotch instead.
close to two hours later, a nurse appeared in the waiting room. suprisingly, there was no one else in the waiting room due to the size of the hospital and the time. so, the team was hopeful that it was news on you.
“family of agent y/n y/l/n,” the nurse called.
in an instant, the four team members were on their feet. “i’m her superior and emergency contact. this is her team, we’re practically family,” hotch spoke. the nurse raised a slight eyebrow at that but nonetheless, opened her file.
“first of all, y/n will be okay,” the nurse started resulting in a sigh of relief from the team, “to start, y/n has sustained serious bruising to various parts of her body. her ribs aren’t broken but they are bruised as well as swelling on her arms and legs. the obvious injury is her neck. her throat was slit very deeply. a lot of blood was lost during surgery but luckily the surgeons managed to repair the damage. however, the cut did reach her vocal chords, severely damaging them. the side effect is that y/n is now mute. it will take anywhere from eight or more months for them to fully heal and for her to be able to speak again.”
the tension in the room thickened. obviously, they were thankful that you were going to be okay but at the same time, you couldn’t speak. “are we able to see her?” spencer spoke up. the nurse pressed her lips together and shook her head. “i’m sorry but visiting hours are over and y/n is not expected to wake up for a little bit. you can all come back in the morning,” the nurse offered.
with that, hotch thanked the nurse and turned back to his team. “alright, i want everyone to head back to the hotel and get some sleep. i know we are all worried bout y/n but there’s nothing we can do. it’s been a long couple of days and we all need to rest,” hotch instructed.
j.j. and morgan both led spencer out of the hospital, followed by hotch. like their boss had said, there was nothing they could do.
____
your eyes shot open, darting around to take in your surroundings. sunlight was streaming into your hotel room, meaning it was most likely some time in the morning or afternoon. suddenly, you began choking, directly due to the tube down your throat.
two nurses rushed into your room. one gently took the tube out of your mouth while the other began to check your vitals. memories of your injury came rushing back to you. you opened your mouth to say something but a nurse quickly cut you off.
“don’t speak, a doctor will be in to talk to you about your injuries in a moment. for now, use this notepad to write down anything,” she spoke, handing you paper and a pen.
“what time is it?” you first wrote down. “it’s 8 in the morning. you’ve been out for two days,” the nurse responded. “my team?” you scribbled. “ah, they’ve been here both days. visitors aren’t allowed for another hour but i would place bets that they’ll be here.”
you leaned back into your hospital beds as the nurses exited. a few minutes later, a doctor entered your room holding a chart. she smiled softly at you before taking a seat. you looked at her with desperate eyes, wanting to know your injuries.
“agent y/n, are you okay with diving right in,” the doctor asked you. upon seeing your nod, she continued, “your ribs are bruised but other than that, your shoulders down is fine. you neck, however, is our primary concern. your vocal chords were injured from the cut. thankfully, in a few months, you should be able to speak properly again. until then, you will be unable to speak.”
you pressed your lips together and stared at the ceiling. “i have already talked to your team about learning sign language. i’m pretty sure the tall skinny one is already fluent. he’s been reading and practicing the entire time,” the doctor added. you smiled when she mentioned spencer.
“thank you,” you wrote down. the doctor nodded and exited your room.
an hour later, you heard commotion in the hallway outside your room. you could have sworn it sounded like emily and hotch arguing with a nurse. but you weren’t entirely sure. you then remembered the doctors words about visiting hours.
suddenly, one of the nurses popped in your room. “agent y/n, your team is here, shall i send them in?” he asked. you nodded, pretty much all you could do.
it only took a moment for your team to appear at your doorway. spencer was the first one in, making your way to your bedside and pulling you in a tight hug. from there, everyone else entered your room, taking seats around your bed. the attention was a little awkaward but you were still happy that they were here.
you tore off the piece of paper you had previously written on and handed it to j.j. to throw out. “how are you feeling?” rossi asked. it took you a moment to write down your answer. “fine, whatever they’re giving me is helping me with the pain. not being able to talk really sucks.”
upon seeing your answer, you were met with sympathetic looks. “well pretty boy here has managed to become fluent in sign language almost overnight. once you learn, he’ll be a great communicator,” morgan smiled.
“actually, i knew a bit of sign language before i just hadn’t practiced in awhile. just needed a bit of a refresher,” spencer responded, squeezing your hand softly.
“i’m sure he’ll be a great teacher,” you wrote.
____
the return to work was extremely difficult. it had been two weeks after you were released from the hospital. your injury was classified different than when hotch was stabbed, explaining the time difference.
you were mostly assigned to do anything other than field work. when you realized something about the case, it had become increasingly difficult to write down what you needed to say and get your point across effectively. however, you were back in the field a little bit over a week after you returned.
however, spencer had took the time to teach you sign language. it was a rocky start, but after two months, you were able to communicate effectively.
on cases, you now stuck by spencer’s side all the time. your hands moved incredibly quickly which spencer did his best to translate your movements. it was a lot better than writing but there were still roadblocks. if spencer wasn’t with you, communicating with the team was challenging.
five months after your injury, the team had suprised you. behind your back, they had all taken sign language classes, working towards learning enough that they would be able to understand what you were signing. you had initially found out when you had a break in one of the cases.
“the unsubs work around childcare, most likely a babysitter, only way they are close enough to the kids. plus, parents pay in cash which leaves no trail,” you signed.
“that’s a good point y/n, i’ll get garcia on it right away,” hotch had spoke.
your eyes widened. “you can understand me?” your hands moved so fast that you weren’t sure if they could fully process your movements. this time, emily nodded. “we’ve all been taking sign language classes. you can fully communicate with us now. no more sticking with reid only.” you frowned slightly at that.
“hey now, we know you love your boyfriend and all but i think the rest of us are pretty good too,” j.j. teased making you grin.
____
ten months later, after a suprise visit to the doctors, you attempted to talk for the first time.
it was a late night at spencer’s apartment. the two of you had just gotten into bed, exhausted after a long case. spencer turned so he was facing you, a smile on his face that you could only see in the lowlight.
“i love you,” you managed to choke out. your voice was scratchy and skipped certain letters due to the many months you had gone without speaking but it didn’t matter. the fact that you were speaking was a major accomplishment.
tears formed in your eyes as spencer broke out into a grin. despite you both lying down, he pulled you into a tight hug, kissing your temple.
“i’m so proud of you,” he whispered back. “i love you too,” spencer added, still smiling widely.
Hanahaki
Not connected to other one-shots Pre-relationship TW: Blood and (kind of) vomit
Content: Amity thought she could handle it when she found herself in love, but then she began coughing up flowers.
It hadn't been a big deal at first. Being in love with her newfound best friend sucked, sure, but Amity was certain she'd be over it eventually. After a few weeks, she began to have frequent coughing fits, often spitting up blood toward the end, but even then she told herself she was just coming down with something. She'd always known she was at higher risk for Hanahaki; every Blight generation had seen at least one case, with Amity's own older brother being one of them, but she still couldn't bring herself to accept the fact that she'd developed it over Luz.
When she coughed up the first flower, a tiny blue forget-me-not, she could no longer sit in denial. Amity Blight had developed Hanahaki, and now she had to do something about it. Her first instinct was to tell her parents, but she immediately pushed that option off the table. Her parents had forced Edric into surgery for his Hanahaki, which had admittedly cured the disease, but at the cost of the love that had caused it. Stubborn and silly as it sounded, Amity would sooner die than willingly give up something that made her feel so alive. Of course, she would still prefer to avoid death, so that left only one option. She had a few weeks, maybe more, maybe less, to tell Luz and hope that her feelings were returned. Until then, she had to hide all symptoms from her family to avoid suspicion.
That worked really well for about three days. Amity had been doing a pretty decent job of pretending to have a cold to excuse her coughing, as well as disposing of the flowers and bloody tissues in a quick and discrete manner, but there wasn't really a way to hide coughing up an entire cluster of forget-me-nots, stem and all, at the breakfast table.
"That cold's not letting up," Emira remarked the moment Amity began to cough. "Maybe you should stay home today."
Amity tried to respond, but she could hardly get a breath in before the awful hacking stole the air from her lungs again. She felt something rising in her throat and slapped her hand over her mouth to catch the flower.
"Mittens?" Edric asked after about thirty consecutive seconds of coughing and wheezing. His voice rose an octave as blood began to seep through Amity's fingers. "Em, get a towel!"
Emira glanced between them, confused for a moment, but as soon as she spotted the blood, she sprinted into the kitchen. Amity pushed her chair away from the table to spare her plate from the dripping, thanking her lucky stars that her parents rarely ever ate a meal other than dinner with their children. Not even thirty seconds later, Emira returned with a towel and passed it to Amity, who moved her hand away and pressed it to her mouth. By the time she was finished, Amity was left with two panicked siblings, a very bloody towel, and a long stem with several small blue flowers on the end.
"When did this start?" Edric demanded after allowing Amity to breathe for a minute.
"The flowers started three days ago," Amity rasped, her throat hoarse from all the coughing. "I've been coughing for about a week, though."
"You've had Hanahaki for a week and you didn't say anything?!" Emira exclaimed.
"Keep your voice down!" Amity hissed. She didn't think her parents were home, but she could honestly never be sure, and she didn't want to take the risk.
"Amity, this is a huge deal," Edric pressed, though he had the decency to remain quiet. "We need to get you to a doctor."
"No!" Amity shook her head furiously, wrapping the stem up in the towel so she wouldn't have to look at it any longer. "I'm not getting that surgery."
"That surgery saved Ed's life." Emira pointed out, taking the towel from Amity.
"I don't need it, I'm going to deal with it myself."
"If you got Hanahaki, whoever this person is almost definitely doesn't like you back. Believe me." Edric's voice grew soft and his ears sank sadly. Amity knew he was remembering the person he'd been forced to give up in exchange for his life. He'd never revealed the person's identity, only that they had a boyfriend and he had no chance, but it had always been apparent that he had genuinely loved this person.
"I don't care," Amity stood up and snatched the towel back from Emira so she'd have an excuse to leave the dining room. "I like her and I'm not ready to give that up."
She marched into the kitchen, internally groaning as she siblings followed her. Of course they were going to persist.
"Who even is this girl?" Emira inquired.
"That's none of your business." Amity grumbled. She stared at the towel for a moment, decided it was too bloody to be saved, and tossed it into the garbage.
"It is if we're going to help you confess."
"What?" Amity and Edric asked at the same time.
"If you like this girl so much, we can give you one day to get your act together and confess." Emira explained. Amity rolled her eyes; she had her act together. "If she likes you back, great, no more Hanahaki, and if she doesn't, we tell Mom and Dad about this and you get scheduled for surgery."
That actually sounded like a decent plan. If Luz didn't like her back, Amity would just be hurting herself by keeping her feelings anyway. There was, however, one very important factor that Emira had failed to consider. Amity was a wuss.
"Does it have to be today?" She asked meekly.
"Mittens, your life is in danger," Edric sighed in exasperation. "Now is not the time to be a coward. I tried to wait and I could have died."
"I'm not being a coward!" Amity protested. "I'm just nervous."
"Well, man up, 'cause you're doing this today or you're not doing it at all." Emira said firmly with a hard pat to Amity's back. "Now tell us who it is."
"It's Luz..." Amity mumbled. Her siblings exchanged and unsurprised glance. "I'm going to get my bag."
Amity darted out of the kitchen and up the stairs, quickly closing the door once she was inside her room. As she swept her homework off her desk and stowed it away in her schoolbag, she grumbled to herself about her siblings. They didn't need to step in. She had it totally under control, she just needed to be able to confess at her own pace. But a small part of her knew that this was probably necessary; she'd been planning to confess, sure, but she always got nervous and bailed. If left to her own devices, would she ever confess?
With a heavy sigh, Amity slung her bag over her shoulders and trudged back downstairs to meet her siblings at the front door. Surprisingly, they didn't say anything else about her Hanahaki for the entirety of their walk to Hexside. In fact, the walk was pretty much silent, although Amity did catch them staring at her more than once.
"Do you know where she'd be right now?" Edric broke the silence as the three of them stepped onto campus.
"I can't just go up to her and say it!" Amity exclaimed. That would be far too casual. Who just walked up to their best friend and said 'I like you' like it was nothing? She didn't need some huge presentation, but she wanted it to be bigger than that.
"You really can." Emira rolled her eyes.
"No, that would be weird." Amity shook her head. "We have third period together. I can tell her then."
"That would hardly be any different, but fine." Emira decided. "Ed and I are going to check up on you after that class and make sure you didn't chicken out."
"I'm not going to chicken out!" Amity thumped her sister's arm indignantly. "By the end of third period, she'll know. You'll see!" And with that, she hurried away before her siblings could make any more remarks about her (lack of) bravery. She'd show them she wasn't a coward.
Throughout the morning, it became increasingly more apparent that Amity was, in fact, a coward. She had no plan and was absolutely dreading third period. Should she tell Luz immediately or wait until class was over? Should she write a note or say it out loud? A part of her genuinely considered waiting until lunch and getting Willow to confess for her.
By the time third period rolled around, Amity was a mess. She could hardly even bring herself to look at Luz, much less speak to her. For once, she was actually grateful for the coughing, because she could use not feeling well as an excuse to stay quiet until she could figure out what she was going to do. She never did figure it out, though, and when Luz stood up to leave at the end of class, Amity panicked and grabbed her arm.
"You okay?" Luz's brow furrowed in confusion as Amity searched for something to say.
"I-" She cut herself off with a few coughs a wheeze, which only served to worry Luz further. "I need you to meet me on the bleachers at break. There's something important that I want to tell you."
"Alright," Luz said as Amity released her arm. "But are you sure you're okay? That cough sounds really bad."
"I'm fine, I promise." Amity lied, gathering her things as quickly as she could. With a short goodbye to Luz, Amity hurried out of the classroom, heading for her next class. This was fine. There was only one more class until break.
"Mittens, over here!" Amity groaned as her sister's voice reached her. She stopped and turned around to find both of her siblings heading her way.
"Did you tell her?" Edric asked quietly once they were close enough.
"I asked her to meet me at break," Amity replied, stifling a cough. "I'll tell her then."
"Quit stalling!" Emira hissed. "You've only got one day to do this."
"Wait, Em, lay off for a second." Edric suddenly ushered Emira back, his eyes filled with concern. "Mittens, you're bleeding again."
Amity wiped at her mouth, surprised to find the back of her hand smeared with blood. She suddenly became aware of a slow drip from between her lips. She licked her lips to clean them and sucked in anxious breath, only to choke on it a second later. When it became clear that the coughing fit wasn't going to subside, Emira put her arm around Amity's shoulders and began steering her down the hallway, producing a piece of crumpled notebook paper from her cowl for Amity to cough into.
Amity sputtered all the way to the girl's bathroom, where Emira gently took the notebook paper from her and replaced it with a wad of paper towels. Amity gagged hard as a cluster came up, followed quite quickly by another. Her eyes teared up and she leaned against Emira, trying to spit up the stem that she could feel in her throat. When she finally managed to get it out, she stayed were she was, gasping for breath and shaking while her sister supported her with one arm and used the other to take the paper towels and toss them into the trash a few feet away.
"Do you think that was all for now?" Emira asked quietly. Amity noticed a pain in her eyes, and even in her wretched state, she recognized how hard it must be to watch a sibling go through something so terrible for the second time.
"Yeah." Amity whimpered. She knew there was probably still blood on her lips, but she couldn't say she particularly cared at the moment. A small part of her urged her to hurry to class, but the rest of her would've been content to curl up and fall asleep right there on the bathroom floor. Emira seemed to realize this and led Amity over to the wall so they could sink to the floor together, her ears twitching downward sympathetically.
"Let's stay here a little while." She suggested, and Amity nodded wordlessly into her shoulder. Normally, Amity would've fretted over skipping class, but she figured this was probably justified.
The two of them sat there in silence for a long while. At some point, Amity must have nodded off on Emira's shoulder, because after what felt like ten minutes, she was startled by the sound of the bell.
"I have to go meet Luz." She said as she jumped to her feet. Emira's arms darted out, as if she was afraid Amity was going to fall, but she quickly retracted them.
"Do you want me to go with you?"
"No, I'll be okay." Amity bit back a retort about not needing her sister spying her. She knew Emira was trying to look out for her, but she didn't think she'd be able to get the words out if someone was watching her.
They walked out of the bathroom together, but Amity soon split off to head out the nearest side door. She was vaguely aware of Emira watching her go, though she did her best to ignore it. The fresh air outside actually managed to ease the burning in Amity's lungs as she made her way toward the Grudgby field. Maybe this was going to be okay after all. As long as her lungs behaved themselves, she could use this time to formulate some kind of plan as to what she would say.
"Hey, Amity!" Or not. Amity sighed and turned around to find Luz hurrying toward her, smiling brightly. "So, what was it you wanted to tell me?"
"Okay, so..." Amity took a moment to collect her thoughts. Just say it. Say it fast and hope for the best. Don't cough. "Um, alright, I'm... shoot, sorry, I'm nervous."
"It's okay, take your time." Luz said kindly. "I'm not going anywhere."
Amity smiled and felt her chest swell with affection. It was going to be fine. Even if Luz didn't like her back, there was no way a girl this sweet was going to hate her over some crush. For the first time in a while, Amity really thought she was going to be fine. And then she spat up blood onto Luz's shoes.
"I'm so sorry!" She said immediately, but before she could say anything else, she fell into a terrible coughing fit.
"Oh my God, are you okay?!" Luz nearly shrieked. "Amity, that's blood!"
"I'm okay!" Amity gasped between coughs. Blood sprayed from her lips with each hack, and soon she was doubled over, retching into the grass.
"Clearly you aren't!" Luz exclaimed, her eyes wide with terror. "I'm taking you to the Healing Professor."
"She can't-!" Amity suddenly vomited a stem with two clusters, a shower of stray petals falling with it. She collapsed on the ground, trembling and unable to stop gagging.
"How do we make it stop?!" Luz pleaded as she kneeled down beside Amity, helpless to do anything but rub comforting circles on her back. "Tell me what you need."
Amity waited a few minutes for her coughing fit to ease. When she could breathe again, she slowly sat up and met Luz's teary gaze.
"Does that, by any chance, happen in the Human Realm?" She asked weakly. Luz shook her head. "It's called Hanahaki Disease. It's caused by unrequited love. Flowers will grow in our lungs until they're surgically removed or they suffocate us, unless we can get the person to return our feelings." Her face burned with embarrassment as she spoke, silently willing Luz to understand.
"When are you getting your surgery?" Luz asked innocently, and Amity almost wished for another coughing fit so she wouldn't have to answer.
"I'm not getting surgery." Amity admitted, refusing to look at Luz any longer. She could feel her ears drooping so far that they were practically brushing against her neck. "The surgery kills the feelings that caused the disease in the first place. I'm not ready to give you up."
"Wait, me?" Luz asked incredulously. Amity stiffened for a moment, horrified, and buried her face in her hands. "So, if I tell you that I like you back, this will stop?"
"It's not that easy." Amity mumbled. "It has to be genuine."
Luz grabbed Amity's wristed and gently pulled them away from her face. Heat rose to Amity's face as Luz leaned in close, her expression soft. Amity barely registered the feeling of Luz's lips pressed against hers until they'd already been kissing for a few seconds. She pulled away, startled, and stared at Luz.
"Luz, it won't go away just because you kissed me. I told you, it has to be genuine." She appreciated that Luz would try that for her, but she really wished she hadn't. If anything, the kiss would probably increase her longing and make the Hanahaki worse.
"I wouldn't have kissed you if I didn't mean it." Luz said softly, releasing Amity's wrists so she could hold her hands. "I do genuinely like you. I would've said something sooner, but I spent so long just trying to be your friend that I didn't want to mess it up. If I'd known this was going to happen, I would have told you so much sooner."
Amity's chest began to lighten and her ears tentatively perked up. A part of her still thought Luz might be lying for her sake, but the rest of her desperately wanted to believe it. Luz wouldn't lie to her, right?
"You promise you mean it?" She asked, maybe a little too forcefully.
"I promise." Luz said firmly. "Can I kiss you again?"
"I probably taste like blood." Amity chuckled self-consciously.
"You do," Luz confirmed. "But I don't mind."
"I think I'd rather get cleaned up before class starts." Amity replied sheepishly, pulling Luz with her as she stood up. She could feel dried blood on her lips and chin, making it a little uncomfortable to talk.
"Can I come with you?" Luz asked. "I want to make sure it doesn't happen again."
"Of course, but I don't think it will." Amity smiled at Luz, her face flushed harder than before as she felt their fingers intertwine. She thought it was sweet that Luz cared so much about making sure she was alright, but she was pretty sure she would be. She could almost feel the flowers crumbling away inside her lungs. "I think I'm finally okay."
They wonder what the future might be like as they glanced at their windows, one of them was on the other side of the world while the other is living their life at their ‘home’ where all the memories were stamped on every inch of the place.
She was getting ready for the day, as she curls her hair. She suddenly felt a touch, the one that she felt familiar with, his touch. The way he would play with her hair, as they took their time getting ready for work once upon a day. The room was quiet as she sat in front of the mirror, with her hands on her hair somehow, trying her very best to feel the familiar touch once more. At the end, its just a memory as she pulled her hands off her hair, shaking her head before she slips on her white coat.
He was stood up gazing through the glass windows, as the sun starts to rise. The view was breathtaking, as his mouth curled up into a smile. He would often take a seat a few minutes before the sun rises as he would enjoy the view. His life was somehow at a fast pace, as the highway but… sitting there watching the sunrise; it slowed down just for a few moments. Those moments where he could envision anything, anyone, and anywhere. He was brought into a trance, as he felt arms hugging him on his waist, along with the familiar smell of lavender shampoo that made his day. He tried to grasp the touch, but it felt invisible. Nothing was there, as he tried to reach it but… the luck runs out. He was brought back to reality once more, as he shook his head somehow trying to get rid of the memory within his mind. Soon, he found himself wearing the same old green scrubs that had helped him survive this life.
---------------
The day went by quickly for both of them, he was doing several surgeries whilst she was diagnosing her patients happily. Once before they were together, but… now, together was a memory where they would relieve as it were there glory days. The days where the love was a presence, happiness was something real, before heartbreak entered into the horizons.
She would sigh, as she walked through the familiar hallways where they would sneak their little moments where love was blooming. The small interactions where they had been the talk of the staff. Her pace was slowed down, as a camera was capturing her every motion slowly.
He was cheered upon after he managed to complete a complicated surgery, where he would earn endless praise. The look on his face was happiness, somehow.. it felt incomplete. His mind would search to find her, to tell her the good news. His head tilted as in the search for her, but she is not there. She hasn’t been there for a long time. He lets out a sigh, as he walks away.
The day went by quickly after, as their work captures their whole attention from the lingering feeling in their heart. Longing for one another’s touch. They would go out and meet new people, as an attempt of so-called, filling the void. Every party, every drink they had as they tried to vanished the feeling away. They would fill their desires, but… the heart still longed for a feeling named, ‘love’.
‘I am okay.’
‘Never better, man.’
They would smile through the pain, as somehow a reminder of one another appeared. The smell of her perfume, the sweet scent of his favorite shampoo, his favorite food, her favorite song. The one trigger that made their friends look at them in concern, giving them the look of sadness when it was mentioned.
The day was long for both of them, working in a hospital. It took a lot of time, as their shifts would end during the time where the darkness replace the sunlight. The moon shines brightly being their guide back home.
---------------
The shine from the moon reflects through his windows, as he walked into the quiet apartment. It's different from the home they had before where it's their heaven where all good memories were made. Fast forward, he sat on the couch as he stared blankly at the television in front of him, as his smile perk up remembering a memory from before.
‘C’mon Casey, its tradition to watch every popular horror movie on Halloween night.’ Bryce said as they are deciding on what to watch.
Casey lets out a sigh,
‘I have a huge hatred towards horror movies Bryce. We can watch any movie except horror. I don’t want to be awake at night to fetch water and imagining Chucky is about to kill me in that kitchen with his damned knife…’ Casey shivers at the thought.
They went quiet, as he was thinking about a solution.
‘Okay. I have a preposition, you would watch one movie and I promised to be your trusty hero if you ever encountered a living Chucky doll in our kitchen.’ Bryce couldn’t help but stifled laughter as he finishes his sentence.
He felt a huge thump as Casey throws a pillow straight to his face, as she pouts. Bryce laughs and pulled her into his embrace.
‘Alright, I am playing with you.’ He said as he starts to place small kisses on her arms making her smile despite her attempt on staying mad at him. It's impossible to stay mad at him.
‘Its serious Bryce, I had this weird dream that Chucky would kill me in my sleep and I am not kidding.’ She playfully smacked his arm as he pulled her closer.
‘Alright, alright. We will watch any Disney movie of your choice tonight if you promise to watch one horror movie with me.’ Bryce stated as Casey raised a skeptical eyebrow at his statement.
‘What’s the catch?’
Bryce smiles at the question, making her curious even more on his intentions.
‘There’s no catch, cant a man wants to make his girl happy?’ Bryce replies as his eyes soften at the sight of her. Her hair was tied into a messy bun, she was wearing his shirts with sweatpants. She still looked like the most beautiful woman in the world.
‘You are a sap Lahela.’ Casey said as she placed a kiss on his cheek.
‘You love me anyway Valentine.’ He winked as they settled on watching ‘Tangled’ and a horror classic, ‘Saw’ as the night goes on.
He smiled at the moment that flashed before his eyes, he knew he loved her at the time. But, ‘love’ sometimes can disappear. The feeling can be self-destructing, as life gets in between them. He lets out a sigh, as he gets himself ready for the night.
---------------
Casey made her way back to the apartment where she used to share with her friends, most of them had moved out ever since they had gotten their very own personal lives to follow. They would still visit her frequently especially Jackie and Aurora since they would crash at hers after work is over. Sometimes, they would have a sleepover and just, have fun like old times. She turned on the switch as she was meet with her living room, the darkness around her felt comforting. After placing her jacket on the rack, she immediately made her way to change as she felt needed a fresh change after the long day she had.
The sight of her room puts a smile on her face since she is ready to plop herself to bed and just let herself sleep for the night. After a perfect shower, Casey gets herself ready as she raids her closet. Her eyes stopped at a familiar number of shirts, and a pair his very own sweatpants that were folded nicely at the corner. The sight of it brought a small smile to her face, as he would leave it there during the times he would stay for the night.
She took a deep breath, as she decides to wear it after all these years. The smell of him was gone, it was replaced by the smell of nostalgia as the memories flooded in her mind. The shirt was huge on her, but… she didn’t mind. The familiar comfort from it brings tears to her eyes as she is ready to call it a night. It felt like he was hugging her through the fabric, as she pulled the covers above her head.
---------
‘When are you leaving for the conference again?’ Casey asked quietly as they were laying down with their faces a few feet from each other.
‘Tomorrow night.’ Bryce replied with a sadness in his voice, he had to go on a conference with Harper at New York for a few days and he knew Casey ain’t taking it easy.
There was silence, as the only sound that can be heard was their heartbeats. They were close enough to hear each other’s heart.
‘I’ll be back Cas, don’t worry.’ Bryce’s voice was as soft as silk, as his hands brushed the strand of hair that was covering her face.
‘I know… it will be very lonely without you here.’ Her green eyes gazed into his brown ones, as she lets out a small sigh.
‘I will be sure to leave some momento of myself when I leave.’ Bryce winks at her, causing her to smile as her head was buried into his chest.
The atmosphere was quiet, as they decided to call it a night. Casey was still awake, as she felt herself smiling at his beautiful face which is illuminated by the moonlight that was reflected through her window.
‘I love you Bryce Lahela.’ She whispered before letting herself fall into a deep slumber safely in his arms.
The day he left for New York, Casey makes her way back to the apartment. Following her routine, her eyes widen at a box on the coffee table. After placing her stuff on the counter, she rushed to it.
She opened it gracefully as a smile appeared on her face, the smile that one would have after their food would arrive. She took out the contents of the box which consists of a few t-shirts of his, and a pair of sweatpants. People might call her crazy for smiling over pieces of clothing but, she couldn’t care less. All of the contents were taken out, and the scent of him made her smile even wider.
In a flash, she gets herself ready for the night with her ‘new’ outfits, consists of his very own sweatpants and a very rugged t-shirt. Somehow, the scent of it bring comfort to her and laying in the bed felt like he was there with her. Hugging her from behind, telling her that everything is gonna be alright.
---------
Bryce was in his hotel room, as a smile appeared on his face thinking about the goodies he left for her. It wasn’t much, but… maybe he would surprise her with something even better when he gets back.
His mind was wandering at the three words that had escaped from her mouth the other night. He never thought about that, the feeling of love. He had dated a few people in the past, the feeling with them is different than what he felt for Casey. He would feel somehow at peace as he saw the smile on her face, the way his days would light up at the sight of her and the feeling of having her in his arms felt like…
Home.
The thought was playing in his mind, as he smiled. Because, he felt it too. Love.
---------
She didn’t realize her tears had fallen from the memory, it had been a long time since it happened. She haven’t seen him in a long time, the only reminder left of him was the garments that she was wearing. The nostalgia of his touch, is something she didn’t know she needed after all these years.
He was tossing and turning in his sleep, the mention of her from the snippet of his mind bothered him. He saw her face through his friends, the way she would smile in the pics as they went to dinner together. That smile, makes his heart leap in happiness. The smile that he never gets tired of seeing. After all these years, even from a thousand miles away she never failed to make him smile.
‘I miss you so  much.’ The words echoed from the both of them, as the darkness around them paints as a disguise on the pain that their heart is feeling.
There were times it would work out, where their futures is filled with happiness from once upon a day but… sometimes, it’s just not meant to be. And, they have to live with it for the rest of their lives.
THE END.
Blue Eyes Part 20
Summary: After the Garrison is shot up, the youngest Shelby daughter finds a new home in London. She strips herself of her last name and tries to live a peaceful life far away from her brothers’ chaos in Birmingham. But fate leads her right back into it after she runs into Alfie Solomons.
Part 20: Alfie and Ella can finally leave Birmingham but that doesn’t mean their problems are over.
Tumblr media
      It was as if losing her unborn children was the final straw. Ella had put up with so much heartache in her life but fate had taken it too far. The doctors said she wasn’t healing very quickly because she was refusing to help herself.
           “She’s given up.” The doctor shrugged. “This is often the case with mothers who have miscarried.”
           Alfie sat by her bedside as long as she would allow him to. When she was lucid, she was angry. She cried and begged to be put out of her misery. The pain was too much to bear, that’s what she sobbed. Alfie didn’t know whether she meant the physical pain or the emotional hurt. He never asked.
           When she was doped up, she slept or lazily stared up at the ceiling. Sometimes she’d mumble about the horses. Lilac and the foals. Other times she would forget what happened. She would idly chat with the ceiling about how her children would be named after the ocean. That was the first thing they would see. The beautiful ocean. They’d be beautiful. Ocean colored eyes. Beautiful.
           Soon, the nurses began to give Ella heavier doses of morphine to keep her subdued. Her outbursts while coherent were too much to handle when Tommy, Polly, or Alfie wasn’t there. When Alfie found out, he nearly tore the entire hospital apart. Tommy had to hold him back from strangling the nearest doctor on call.
           So Tommy tried to enlist Alfie to help with the end of Luca Changretta. Hopefully, he could direct the man’s anger long enough to end the war and get Alfie and Ella out of Small Heath.
           Because according to Alfie there were two things driving his wife to insanity. Small Heath and the morphine. And he was adamant that the second Luca had a bullet through his head, they’d be gone.
           Tommy didn’t doubt him. So, he used Alfie’s resources while he could and soon enough they came upon the night of the boxing match.
~~~~~~~~~~
           Alfie visited the hospital before the fight began. Tommy’s own plan was in motion and if things went to plan, Luca would be dead before the week was up.
           He walked into the hospital room and took his usual seat by the small bed. Ella was asleep, curled up on her side and facing him. It was always a shot in the dark when he visited her. There was no telling what sort of state of mind she’d be in.
           “Love?” He gently touched her arm to wake her up.
           She stirred, which was a good sign that she hadn’t been taking as much morphine. Usually, when she was doped up, it was hard to wake her once she was asleep.
           “El, I hafta go soon, I wanted to see you before tomorrow morning.”
           Her husband’s voice woke Ella and she opened her eyes. “Where are you going?” Through all the emotional turmoil and the painkillers, her memory was spotty and slow.
           “The boxing match, Bonnie’s fighting Goliath tonight.” He smiled weakly. “’Fraid we’re gonna have to wipe that poor boy up off the floor once me nephew’s done with him.”
           A dazed smile formed on Ella’s lips. It wasn’t her usual smile; Alfie hadn’t seen that in quite a while. In fact, he couldn’t remember exactly when it was. All she could muster was a blank gaze and a detached smile. “No, he’s a gypsy boy.” She replied quietly. “Gypsy boys never stay down.”
           “What about you?” Alfie adjusted her sheets, pulling them further over her.
           “Me?” She hummed and closed her eyes again. “I’m so lost, Alfie. But that’s okay, some people just get lost. My mother did, long time ago. Much before I could remember. They said she fell into the canal but I know better. She comes in at night.”
           Her husband tried not to let her notice his alarm. She spoke often about the children she lost but that was to be expected. The loss greatly affected her, how could it not? But he’d yet to hear her speak of her mother. “What d’you mean? Like you dream ‘bout her?”
           “Comes in right before I fall asleep.” Her eyes remained closed as she recounted the visions she had while high on morphine. “She tells me to come visit her. To follow her. Says she’ll show me how to see my little ones.”
           Whether Ella knew or not, Alfie immediately picked up on the context. In her altered state, her mind was goading her to end her own life. His stomach tied into knots and he hesitated to leave her alone. But he knew that if he didn’t show at the match, the plan wouldn’t go through.
           “El, please listen to me.” Alfie touched her cheek.
           Her eyes opened but the light behind them had died out. When she looked at him, there was hardly anything there.
           “I know you don’t think there’s much left here for you. But know that I still need you here. If you won’t fight for yourself then consider doing it for me. Because there ain’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. But I need you here with me.”
           Tears welled up in her eyes and Alfie was afraid he’d pushed a nerve. “Why would you ever want me?” Her voice cracked and she shoved the thin cotton sheet away from her. Sitting up with a grunt of pain, she pulled up the hospital gown. “Why would you want this?”
           Alfie had only seen the dressings over her wound. He hadn’t actually seen it after her surgery. Though considerably healed, it was an angry, gruesome reminder of what they’d lost. There was still bruising around the stitches where the skin was pulled taut.
           “I’m broken, Alfie, there’s nothing left of me. Those bastards took it all!” The volume of her voice began to rise. Panic and fear filled her chest.
           There was no reasoning with her once she got into that state of heightened anger and fear. “Alright, alright.” Alfie leaned away to give her space. “M’sorry.” It took all of his power not to fight her. To tell her that even if she’d lost all her limbs, if her face was marred beyond recognition, if she’d gone deaf or blind, he’d still love her. No matter what he would love her.
           In a huff, Ella fixed her gown and tugged the sheets back over herself. She sucked in a breath of pain as she lowered back down against the pillows.
           “What can I get you, love?” Alfie asked quietly.
           “Something for the pain.” She replied and took a deep breath.
           His jaw tightened. “When was your last dose?” He asked.
           “How should I know, Alfie, I’ve been sleeping all day.” She retorted with an agitated frown. “I don’t want to be in pain.”
           He couldn’t fight her. So, he stood up and leaned over to kiss her forehead. “I love you.”
           “I love you too.” She replied. But the words sounded like they were spoken merely out of habit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
           “Did you see her earlier?” Tommy came into the locker room and sat down on the bench across from Alfie.
           The man was sitting stiffly, resting his hands on the cane in front of him. He nodded briefly. “Yeah.”
           “And?” His brother-in-law struck up a light for his cigarette.
           “And she’s fucking hooked on whatever they’re giving her.” He responded harshly. “I knew this would happen; I told your aunt.”
           “They’ll start weaning her off once she’s ready to be discharged,” Tommy assured him. “It takes time.”
           “No, I’m taking her to Margate once this is finished.” Alfie disagreed.
           “That’s too dangerous. The withdrawals could make her more ill.”
           “Then what do you fucking suggest, Tommy, aye? She’s withering away in that fucking hospital and I can’t stand seeing her like that anymore!” The man’s shouts reverberated across the room.
           Tommy coolly took a drag of his cigarette. “Bring her to Arrow House. I’ll hire a nurse or two to watch after her. She can be weaned off the morphine there. Maybe she’ll have an easier time outside of the hospital.”
           Alfie gritted his teeth but considered the offer. “Alright.” He muttered. “Alright, yeah, that’ll be fine.”
           “I know it isn’t easy, seeing her like that. But she doesn’t love you any less.”
           He stood up with a heavy sigh. “Yeah, mate, sure.” When he saw her shining blue eyes again, only then would Alfie believe it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
           Arthur Shelby was supposed to be dead. Alfie knew much better and decided not to tell Ella of the plan. The last thing they needed was to have her go into another fit when she heard about what Tommy had cooking for the rest of the family. Instead, Alfie stayed with her in the hospital mere hours before she was due to be released to Arrow House.
           Alfie helped her dress, taking careful mind of her injuries. “Easy, there you go.”
           “Will the dogs be coming with us?” Luckily for Alfie, Ella was a bit subdued. She was lucid, but not in too much pain.
           “Yeah, they’re at the flat. We’ll pick them up on our way out. Everything’s all packed.” Alfie was thrilled to be finally leaving Small Heath. They’d leave it all behind, all the hurt and drama that Birmingham seemed to bring them. As much as he wanted it to be a quick change, he was wise enough to know that wouldn’t be the case. Tommy had warned him to be prepared for a long recovery.
           “I miss them,” Ella said quietly.
           “Yeah, love, they miss you too.” He smiled and helped her into a soft cardigan. “Warm enough?” He asked.
           She nodded and sat back down on the hospital cot. “When are we leaving?”
           “Soon as your brother calls me.” Her husband pulled up a chair to sit across from her. Taking her hands in his, he gently kissed her knuckles. “Things are gonna get better, El, I promise.”
           A look of doubt crossed her face but she didn’t argue with him. Instead, she pressed her cheek against his hands and let out a slow exhale.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
           Anthea and Cyril were ecstatic to have the large space to romp about. They gleefully galloped up and down the pasture fences, barking at the horses and taking in the scent of the crisp country air.
           Alfie wanted to be just as happy as they are but things were not going to plan. Once at Arrow House, Ella retreated into herself. The first few days, it appeared things were looking up. She began to walk around on her own and was finally eating enough to get some weight on her.
           But once she heard plans of slowly diminishing her morphine dose, she raged. She screamed and fought the nurses, her husband, her brother, anyone who tried to calm her down.
           “I’m in fucking pain, Alfie! It’s the only thing that makes me feel better!”
           Alfie had to hold her back as she tried to push past him. He wanted to note that she seemed okay enough to fight like a rabid dog but knew that would only piss her off further. There wasn’t much left to be in pain over. Her stitches had been taken out a week after arriving at Arrow House, the wound healing quite well. The only pain she had was the addiction to the painkillers.
           It all came to a head one night a few weeks into their visit to Warwickshire. Alfie hadn’t been sleeping much at all. If anything, he slept better in Small Heath. The countryside was too quiet for his tastes. Camden Town always had the London sound and Margate at least had the ocean to lull him to sleep. Arrow House was near-silent aside from the faint sound of crickets.
           That night, he awoke to find Ella was gone. She’d been sleeping much better than he had. Either from the small dose of morphine, she was given, the amount shrinking despite her insistence. Or she made herself exhausted after getting worked up about her pain.
           Worried, Alfie got up and started to search through the enormous estate to find her. He didn’t find her on the second floor so he went downstairs. Almost immediately, he found her trying to jimmy the lock of her brother’s office. The nurses had been keeping the morphine in the big room because Tommy held the only key. When they wanted to give her a dose, they had to consult with him. That way there would be no double doses or attempts to keep Ella calm by giving her a little extra.
           Unfortunately, Ella was aware of the location from arguments with her brother. He’d shouted a few times that the morphine was locked up and he wasn’t going to let her anywhere near it.
           And now it appeared she was taking matters into her own hand. Most likely she would’ve gotten in if Alfie hadn’t woken up. Her brothers had been helpful in teaching her how to break her way through even the heaviest of locked doors.
           “Ella.”
           Alfie’s voice made her jump. She dropped the pin in her hand and turned around. “What?”
           “What on Earth are you fucking doing?” He descended the rest of the stairs.
           She bit her tongue and angry tears stung her eyes. “You don’t understand.”
           “Love, I’m trying to understand!” He rubbed his tired eyes. “Really, I am. I understand that you feel like you need it. I know you’re in pain, but it’s only gonna get fucking worse if you don’t kick it now!”
           “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” She replied sharply and bent down to pick up the pin again.
           Alfie went to stand between her and the door. “Under no circumstances am I letting you get away with what you’re doing.” He crossed his arms over his chest firmly. “So, I suggest you go back to bed and I’ll get you a cup of tea.”
           “Or how about you go get shot and then try to handle it without painkillers.” She spat. “Because that’s what you’re doing to me.” She tried to push him aside to get to the doorknob.
           He grabbed her wrists. “Ella, your stitches are out, you’re nearly completely healed. There were no infections or anything. I’ve been shot plenty of times, love, so you can’t tell me I don’t know what it’s like.”
           Furiously, she tugged away from him. “Shut up, just shut up! You have no idea what I’m going through!”
           “Ella, enough!” Alfie suddenly shouted. Weeks of hurt had pushed him over the edge. “We lost our children, I know. I lost them too, everyone lost them! Your family lost a niece and nephew. I lost a son and a daughter. You ain’t the only one who lost them.”
           “I was carrying them.” She was more than happy to kick up a fuss again. The anger fueled her like the morphine did. They were the only two states of being she’d known for what felt like ages. It was so easy to be mean and venomous. Much easier than accepting the loss of what were supposed to be her greatest gifts. “Me! I was the pregnant one, not you, not anyone else. None of you know what it was like to lose them!”
           “So that gives you the right to completely abandon the rest of your family? What’re you gonna do the rest of your life, aye? You gonna stay doped up for the rest of your life? Because allow me to let you in on a little secret, love. Soon it ain’t gonna be enough. You’ll want more ‘n more until it kills you. We’re all doing you a favor by taking you off of it now.”
           Ella shook her head furiously and tried clawing off his hands from around her wrists. “You don’t know anything. You don’t know anything!” She shrieked. “Get off me!”
           Tommy came rushing from upstairs once he heard the commotion. “Alright, break it up.” He pried his sister away from Alfie. “Ella, Ella, stop.” He restrained her once she began to attack him. “Enough!” He yelled and hugged her tight so she couldn’t move. “I’ve had quite enough of your behavior. Both of you!” He eyed Alfie.
           “Me?” He threw his hands up. “I’m doing everything I can for that woman!”
           “Fuck off!” She kicked at her brother. “I hate you; I hate both of you!”
           “Shut it!” Tommy barked. “This isn’t working. Ella, you can’t do this anymore. Either you kick it or I’ll send you somewhere else.”
           “Oh yeah? You gonna send me to an asylum, Thomas?” She spat.
           “He ain’t gonna send you to an asylum, El, just stop being so dramatic.” Alfie began to pace. How in the world did they end up there? Shouting in a posh house because his wife was so hooked on something, she was trying to break down a door to get it.
           “Dramatic? Look me in the eyes and say that again.” She challenged.
           “Fucking hell, woman, what do you want from me?” Alfie shouted. He stopped in the middle of the foyer to glare at her. “Don’t you think it fucking kills me every single day that I didn’t take that fucking bullet? That I couldn’t step out in front of it? That I would die if it meant keeping you and those kids alive? I’d give up my fucking life right now for you but I’m the bad guy because I won’t let you fucking kill yourself with them drugs!”
           Ella’s knees wobbled and she sank to the ground, slipping out of her brother’s arms. Collapsing into a pile on the floor she sobbed.
           Tommy and Alfie shared a concerned look, but the Shelby man stepped back allowing for him to intervene.
           Alfie sighed and scooped up his wife. “C’mere.” He soothed. She cried out and tried to fight against him but was too weak to do anything else. “Stop, stop…just sit with me.” He sat down on the steps with her curled up in his lap. “Just do that. Just sit. Don’t need to do anything else.”
           Exhausted too, Tommy slumped to the floor, rubbing a hand over his weary face.
           The three of them sat there for a good while. The grandfather clock in the foyer keeping time of their silence. Ella hiccupped and sobbed but didn’t move to fight her husband. Her body was twitching with the early signs of withdrawals.
           “Listen to me, can you listen for a moment?” Alfie smoothed her hair back and wiped her cheeks. “Let’s say you and I go to Margate, aye? Like we planned. Maybe the ocean air’ll do you some good.” He thought that her morphine dose had been decreased enough that she’d be able to go cold turkey without getting too sick.
           “You don’t want me anymore.” She whimpered. “I’m so messed up.”
           “Ah, love, don’t say that.” He murmured. “You could scream at me all day and it wouldn’t change a thing. I know you’re in pain. Trust me, I know. But I ain’t giving up on ya.”
           She sniffled. “Okay.”
           There was a triumphant feeling in the air. Tommy nodded at Alfie appreciatively. Perhaps this was the breakthrough they all needed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
           At least the ocean was pretty. It gave Ella’s personal hell a better setting. The first few hours after arriving at Margate was uncomfortable. She tried to take the dogs for long walks on the beach but often got tired and weak. Alfie did his best to keep her mind off of the drugs but she got more and more agitated as time went on. All Alfie could do was to try and not engage with her. Try not to take anything personally because he knew she was pushing his buttons to get a rise out of him. Maybe then, he would give in and let her have what she was craving so badly.
           Her symptoms got worse a few days on. She hardly slept as she was in a perpetual state of cold sweat. She constantly applied and stripped off layers of clothing throughout the night and day. Chills racked her body so badly that her teeth were chattering and grinding. The nausea was almost unbearable as she spent most of the day dry heaving in the bathroom. She couldn’t even think of food let alone try to eat. She was nearly skin and bones after her stay at the hospital and those few days didn’t do anything to help.
           Towards the end of the hellish week, she appeared to be getting better. She could stomach some light meals and began taking walks again with Alfie. The light in her eyes had started to return and she was significantly more stable regarding her emotions. But she had been left in a slump. Without the usual high she got from the morphine; she was forced to face reality. She’d lost her twins and there was nothing she could do to get them back. It left her in a depressive state.
           Going on the second week, Alfie turned on the radio in the sunroom. Ella was there curled up in his armchair, staring out over the horizon where the sun had begun to set. Her blue eyes landed on him as he knelt down to fiddle with the dials. After a moment, he found a clear station playing a soft song.
           He walked over to her and held out a hand.
           Ella frowned. “Alfie…”
           “Just one song.” He begged softly.
           Damn if he wasn’t so endearing. She sighed and took his hand, sweeping the knit blanket off her shoulders. He drew her close, letting her cheek rest on his chest. They swayed gently to the music, just enjoying each other’s company for the first time in what felt like years.
           Ella nearly forgot the way he made her heart pound mercilessly in her chest. The warmth he gave her. All at once, she felt so guilty and horrible for the way she acted.
           Alfie heard her crying softly against him. “What is it, love? Talk to me.” He coaxed.
           “I’ve been awful to you. To everyone.” She whimpered.
           “Nah, that weren’t you. That were the drugs talking.” He replied. “I ain’t mad with you. I was hurt but only ‘cause I couldn’t help you.” He kissed her hair and rubbed her back comfortingly. “But that’s in the past now. I just need you to come back to me.”
           That brought on fresh tears that bled into his shirt. Of course, Ella knew she wasn’t the same woman that had married Alfie. She missed the way they were happy together. But she felt she’d lost too much to ever be the same.”
           “Just come back to me, love, please. Can’t bear it anymore.” He pled. “Just come back.”
           Cheeks stained with tears; Ella lifted her head to kiss him for the first time in weeks. He cradled her face tenderly, drawing her back. She clung to him, refusing to part again.

transmasc Luke anon - I was interested in the scene in which he goes to get the piercings and Reggie's there with him and holds his hand and Luke is like "I can totally do this on my own" while wincing and Reggie's all smiles like "I know you can, baby." anyway, Luke is 100% short-but-will-fight-you transmasc vibes and I love it
You’re correct about his vibes, we love a fighty-boy lol, and this was an amazing idea thank you so much for this Anon!!
Small disclaimer, I’ve never had my nipples pierced or top surgery so this is all info I got from a few google searches soooo be warned
“Sometimes it just feels like we’re the grey sisters.” Julie huffed, slamming her lunch tray down as she slid into the bench beside her girlfriends.
“What the fuck is a grey sister?” Carrie raised an eyebrow, poking at her school lunch.
“A group of three sisters in Greek mythology. They share one eyeball and one tooth between the three of them.” Julie rushed out, quickly digging into her food.
“Ew, why would you liken us to them?” Flynn whined, resting her head onto Carrie’s shoulder.
“Cause it feels like we all get to share brain cells. Obviously there’s six of us, and usually us girls have them.”
“Only usually?” Carrie laughed, elbowing Julie lightly. Before Julie could explain further, the other three of their group come slamming full-force into their lunch table, panting and wheezing.
“Alex, inhaler.” Julie clicked her tongue, motioning for one of his boyfriends to get into his fanny pack. The two boys were quick to help him get it out, all slowly gaining their breath back. Julie used this moment to shoot her girlfriends a pointed look.
Reggie, explain.” Flynn leveled her gaze to the boy, knowing through practice that out of the three he’s more likely to give up the story.
“We may have been making out in the janitors closet, and they may have walked in on us.”
“Luke, excuse.” Carrie sighs, tiredly placing her hand against her forehead, the brunette letting his gaze drift towards his two boyfriends.
“They’re just so cute! Look at their little faces, they just need to be kissed all the time.” The boy reasoned, his arms thrown out dramatically, as if showcasing valuable antiques to a buyer.
“I don’t know who’s face you’re calling little, munchkin.” Alex snarked, reaching over to pinch Luke’s face. “We’re older than you, in case you need the reminder.”
“Ow! Hey!” Luke pulled away from the blondes fingers, rubbing at the offended cheek.
“Alex,” Reggie pouted, drawing Luke into his arms. Luke smirked triumphantly. “Leave our baby boy alone.” The smirk quickly left his lips, replaced with another pout as the group began to laugh around him.
“I don’t know why you’re laughing, Molina. You’re the youngest here.” Luke snarked, reaching over to poke her nose.
“Yeah, but I’m fine with being the baby, it just means you’re all suckered into my cuteness.” Julie laughed, swatting at his hand before poking his nose in retaliation. His hazel eyes lit up slightly, his gaze shifting to his boyfriends who were now in a conversation with Carrie and Flynn.
“Suckered into cuteness you say?”
Fuck, here we go, Julie thought to herself, what’s he gonna get himself into this time?
~
Luke, much to Alex’s displeasure, was the only one of the boys who had a car. Luke and Alex both had their licenses, endlessly teasing Reggie about being the oldest without his, but they both knew why Reggie avoided getting one.
This though, was Luke’s favorite part of the school days. Meeting his boyfriends at his car, getting to spend time with the two where they’re more alone than they are when they’re stuck in the school building.
“I can’t hang out too long today, Moms still pissed that I skipped physics the other day.” Alex hummed, sliding into the backseat and allowing Reggie to take shotgun.
“Lame.” Reggie hummed, pulling out Luke’s CD collection to shuffle through and decide on what disc today. “What’re we feeling today?”
“Something soft?” Alex offered, grabbing his water bottle from his backpack as he took a sip. Luke hummed in agreement, noticing Alex’s slight nerves. Reggie nodded before picking out After Laughter for Alex.
“It's cool if me and Reggie hang out after we drop you off then? Totally fine if not.” Luke shot him a wink through the rear view mirror as he pulled out of their schools parking lot.
“Of course it’s fine,” Alex’s voice is soft as he reaches up to give Luke’s shoulder a gentle squeeze, doing the same to Reggie as well. “Just don’t do anything stupid, yeah?”
“Of course not! We’re not idiots.” Reggie snorted, earning an eye roll from the blonde in the backseat. It’s just a few more minutes before they pull into Alex’s driveway, him only living a few minutes away from their school. Both of his boyfriends make sure to give him a kiss goodbye as he walks up the path to his house.
As soon as Alex made it through, the door shutting behind him, Luke spun to Reggie with a wild look in his eyes.
“I have the best idea.”
~
“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Reggie laced his fingers through Luke’s comfortingly. The brunette gives a sharp nod, sliding his phone into Reggie’s jacket pocket.
“Totally. Doc gave me the green light.” Luke nodded, sounding more like he was trying to convince himself. “Besides, Alex is totally attracted to piercings so this is totally worth it.”
“I know this, baby, but are you sure it’s something you want?” Their piercer looked between the two of them silently as they sanitized the needle and tools they’d be using.
“Trust me, hun, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this piercing over the years.” Luke sent a wink to his boyfriend, squeezing his hand as he did so.
The prepping for the piercing takes longer than the actual piercing, with how Blake, their piercer, insisted on talking with them to ease their nerves for a little while before they got into the piercing part.
Reggie’s piercing was pretty quick, only getting his left nostril pierced. Luke’s fingers were threaded through his for comfort, although it wasn’t really needed. A little pinch and he was done.
Luke’s in comparison took a little longer, given he was getting both nipples pierced and Blake had to adjust clamps on him to make the process a little faster and easier.
As Luke sucked in a few shallow breaths he felt a hard squeeze on his hand, causing him to shift his gaze to his boyfriend.
“I can totally do this on my own.” Luke forces out in a haughty tone, sucking in a breath as the first needle makes its way through the clamp. His grip on Reggie’s hand tightened, causing the leather clad boy to laugh.
“I know you can, baby boy.” Reggie teased, giving his hand a gentle and loving squeeze back. “You’re the strongest person I know.”
Luke shot him a dopey grin, wincing loudly as the second needle pierced his skin. Blake finished up, making sure to wipe at Luke’s piercing and handing them both instructions on how to properly clean their piercing, with notes of their gauge sizes and Blake’s email in case they had any further questions.
They thanked Blake, following them back to the front of the shop. The couple paid, tipping Blake in the process with plenty of smiles and waves as they exited the shop.
The short walk to Luke’s car was silent, their hands intertwined once again. The brunette stopped Reggie before he could pull away and circle around to the passenger side.
“Hey, thanks for that back there, it means a lot that you’d do this and say that for me.”
“Of course, baby, it’s no problem.” The boy grinned at him, the new silver hoop in his nose catching the light.
“No, no. Really, I don’t think anyone’s said that to me before.” Luke wanted to fold in on himself, not used to the nervous feeling that filled him.
Reggie pulled the smaller boy into his arms, carefully avoiding getting too close to his chest, letting out a small laugh.
“I completely meant it, you’re definitely the strongest person I know. Well, maybe the mentally strongest I know? Alex does have to lug his drum kit around a lot.”
“Shut up and get in before I leave you here.” Luke pushed away from him gently, a smile tugging on the corners of his lips. Reggie grins and gives him a mock salute before running around the car and climbing in. They begin their trek back to Luke’s house, the boy starling when they pull into the driveway. “Fuck.”
“Fuck?”
“I’m going to have to tell my parents about this so they don’t accidentally fuck up the piercings.”
“Fuck.”
“We’re fucked.”
“What do you mean we?”
“Well I couldn’t have legally got this without you there, Mr. I’m-Eighteen-Now.”
“Yeah, we’re fucked. Let’s hope they’re in a good mood.”
“You go in first, they like you better.”
It was obvious that Emily wasn’t pleased with this outcome, but she did ease up once Luke assured her that he had checked in with the doctor beforehand and once they promised—numerous times—that they had gone to a legitimate, well reviewed shop and that Blake had sanitized all of the equipment.
Finally, after dinner and Emily’s many questions, Mitch being very quiet and mostly indifferent on the matter, the boys made their way to Luke’s room.
“We’re skipping school in the morning because you’re gonna wake up whining in pain, I already know.” Reggie laughed as they changed into their pajamas.
“I am so not going to do that!”
“Luke, honey, baby boy, my love,” Reggie leveled a look to the boy, full of love and honesty. “You skipped an entire week of school when you broke your wrist plus an additional week when you finally managed to convince me to stay here with you. You already know Emily is calling us in tomorrow.”
“Yeah okay.” Luke conceded after a few moments. “I’m going to whine because I can’t sleep on my stomach or be big spoon right now though, that’s the worst part of this all.”
“We’ll figure it out.” Reggie grinned at him. “Shirtless for both of us, less of a chance for my shirt to catch, right?”
“You’re a genius.” Luke grinned up at him. “You know that tomorrow when we do our prank, Alex is gonna find out and be pissed, right?”
“Oh yeah, no for sure. Well just suck up to him after, it’s fine, he can’t stay mad at us for too long. Our puppy dog faces paired with our piercings are gonna win him over forever now.”
“These piercings just keep getting better and better.”
