My Headcanon Crafts for the House of Feanor:
Nerdanel: a sculptor; about the best in all of Valinor. Many of her early sculptures were praised, but also seen as a bit strange because they looked so real, but no one could identify any model they'd been based off of. Later, it would be recognized that she'd sculpted several of her own children, long before they were born.
Maedhros: an actor. Back in Valinor, he often played romantic leads in comedies and tragedies alike. He was very dramatic back in the years of trees, but got more subdued in Middle-Earth for... obvious reasons. A few of the posters for plays he was in made their way to Middle-Earth and got passed around Himring like contraband.
Maglor: a bard. While he often composed his own songs, he was also one of those charged with memorizing the old oral history of the Quendi– the elven equivalent of like, being able to memorize and recite the Iliad. Much of this early Elvish history was almost lost by the end of the First Age, and Maglor attempted to preserve it by writing it down. Eventually, those books ended up saved in Rivendell's library.
Celegorm: a hunter in Orome's train. Was famous for his ability to hit quickly moving targets through the thick forests of Valinor, even when mounted. He also enjoyed making various things out of the pelts, teeth, claws, and antlers of his kills. He's made very nice fur coats for several of his siblings and cousins.
Caranthir: a fiber artist; mostly focusing on weaving and embroidery. He's not sure whether to feel flattered or vaguely worried by all the Miriel comparisons. He insisted on making most of his family's formal clothing because all of Feanor's kids can get at least a little craft-related hubris. As a treat.
Curufin: a smith. His father was most famous for his jewelry, but Curufin would come to be known mostly for his weapons. They were so reliable that many of them lasted until the Third Age. There are rumors he poured some of his soul into the weapons he made for his brothers. But those are only rumors.
Amras & Amrod: painters. They specialized in incredibly detailed landscape paintings. I say "they" because all their works were done together; Amrod would make the sketch and darker linework and Amras would add the colors and shading. Their work was often very nostalgic and peaceful, with bright watercolors and gentle shadows.
Bonus! Feanor saved a lot of his kids' work from when they were really young and just starting their crafts. It's all what you'd expect from a small child's art, but Feanor still acts like they're masterpieces. His kids all think it's super embarrassing but he's really proud of them.
Headcanons for Finwe and his Children, the House of Fingolfin, the House of Finarfin, and the rest of the House of Finwe. Thanks for asking about Finwe's grandkids @hyperlexia-1 :)

Rating Silm deaths
Miriel: 9/10 - Not a fun way to die but at least the child she died giving birth to was a special snowflake and not an average joe.
Finwe: 3/10 - Pretty lame if you ask me but gets points for trying to be a good dad.
Feanor: 11/10 - Spontaneously combusting sure sounds interesting. Athough it was stupid, I admire his bravery for fighting all those balrogs alone.
Elenwe: 6/10 - Poor thing. She was so brave going to middle earth with a bunch of crazy Noldor. The fanart of her death looks awesome though.
Argon: 7.5/10 - It’s said he killed an Orc Captain in the battle he was slain which seems pretty badass.
Fingolfin: 10/10 - Actually accomplished something by dying. Gets full points for his heroic sacrifice.
Angrod & Aegnor: 5/10 - I’m sorry my sweet summer children. You deserved so much better. Your deaths were unfortunately little more than footnotes though.
Aredhel: 7/10 - Took a Javelin to the shoulder to protect her son but I don’t see why she couldn’t have pulled both herself and her son out of the way.
Fingon: 8/10 - I cried like a b*tch when he died. His death sounded so painful, being held by a whip while being slaughtered by Gothmog.
Turgon: 2/10 - He got played like a fiddle by Maeglin.
Maeglin: 1/10 - Pfft. Lame. Imagine getting defeated and thrown off a wall by human with less than half your experience.
Glorfindel: 4/10 - Sorry dude. Your death wasn’t that cool. A million dudes guys died fighting balrogs and you weren’t the first to do it either.
Ecthelion: 15/10 - What a way to go out my guy. Imagine killing the dude who killed badasses like Fingon & Feanor. Wouldn’t have expected it from a happy little musician.
Finrod: 11/10 - Lmho. He went feral. Fighting a werewolf while naked and weaponless is sure something.
Celegorm: 1/10 - Turko, I love you but what a lame way to go out. A little baby half elf who might have been biologically full human completely owned you.
Caranthir & Curufin: ?/10 - We literally get no info on their deaths except that they died in a kinslaying.
Amrod & Amras: ?/10 - Same as Caranthir and Curufin.
Maedhros: 9/10 - I’m definitely not pro-suicide but his death just feels so right. Refusing to let go of the Silmaril despite the pain it’s causing him. A very fiery end for the hottest Feanorian.
Celebrimbor: 8.5/10 - It was brutal but it was far from boring.
Gil-Galad: 8/10 - I’d say it was pretty hot.

inspired by @searchingforserendipity25 ‘s excellent post about uinen holding on to tar-miriel’s bones after the sinking of numenor. warning for implied domestic violence and general death/corpse description stuff
Deep beneath the grey-green waves, there is a cave hidden by a great boulder, where Uinen keeps the bones of her love. Míriel’s dear skull and jaw, her ribcage and the miniscule bones of her little fingertips and inner ear - Uinen has preserved them all with greatest care. Sometimes she forsakes her sea-woman shape and becomes one with the waters, peers through Míriel’s eye sockets and winds around her spine.  Other times, she makes herself a solid form, and lies down on the sand beside her and holds her.
She knows every scratch and chip on the beloved bones of Míriel, made in death and life. The scratches on the left thighbone left by scavenger crabs. The gap in her mouth where a missing upper cuspid should be, had that brute of a husband of hers not knocked it out.
Uinen had seen that wound many years ago, when Míriel was still soft flesh and hot blood. She had lifted her bruised lip to show it to Uinen, and she had been angry. Míriel had loved her, of this Uinen is certain; for her kisses and whispered devotions spoke no lie, but she had always been so angry.
(That was partly Uinen’s fault. Míriel had waded into the waters on her wedding night, pockets full of rocks, and Uinen, appalled to think of the death of one so lovely, had saved her. Míriel had never quite forgiven her for that.)
Míriel, dead, is at peace.
She had not been at peace dying. As the island flooded, Uinen had heard her screams on the wind. She had raced towards her voice to save her one more time, but the seas were choked with mud and rock and corpses. Uinen, who had once drowned the Noldor, was reduced to nothing against the wrath of Ilúvatar.
When the waters had finally calmed and the broken bits of road and palace and monument had sunk and settled like shattered shells on the seafloor, one of Uinen’s handmaidens had bought her the body. It was a hard thing to see - her mouth, made for soft kisses, open in pained fear. Her lungs, so recently alive and breathing, filled with saltwater.
When her handmaidens had seen how upset she was with Míriel’s state, they had offered to take the body away, but Uinen had refused. She would look upon her love in all her ruined beauty. Míriel could not escape her death, so Uinen would not hide from it either.
They had retreated together to the cave.
It hadn’t taken long for Míriel to change. In the temperate waters, her flesh began to swell and purple like a rotten fruit. By the time Uinen had realised what was happening and frantically began to cool the waters, poor Míriel was already floating face-down towards the roof of the cave.
The scavengers of the sea, the crabs and the shrimps, began to tear at her flesh. Uinen, friend to all sea beasts, had hated them briefly for that. She thought to chase them off - that is a queen that you are despoiling! - but then, no. It was only their nature. And Uinen found that she rather liked the image of Míriel, made a million pieces, gone on to nurture and sustain the ocean that she had loved.
Míriel’s feet fell away first, then her hands. Her lovely head, next, fell to the seabed. Her lips and eyes had already been eaten away, but to Uinen her face was still surpassingly dear. Before long, she was all broken apart at the joints on the ocean floor, and once more the crabs came to feast.
When her beloved was all white bone, Uinen finally permitted herself to weep.
She tried for a while to comfort herself with the thought that perhaps it was good that Míriel was dead. Ainur were not really meant to love the Children as the Children loved one another. They were too big for the Children to hold.
There was Melian, of course, but Uinen was no Melian.
Like as not, given time Uinen’s love would have ruined Míriel. Míriel might have become another Celegorm; a spoiled, grasping creature, believing that the whole world was for the taking of the god-touched. Worse, she might have become another Pharazôn, and Uinen her Zigûr.
But in truth, it didn’t matter. Míriel was Míriel and Uinen loved her and would love her in any version of herself; even craven, even cruel. Even dead.
And so in the cave Uinen stays. She buries the bones in the sand and unearths them again, she polishes them day and night until they shine. She leaves the cave at times to dig for sunken treasure, and returns to adorn Míriel as a queen. But quite often, she doesn’t leave the cave for weeks on end.
Is she waiting for something? The end of the world, perhaps? Uinen is not quite sure. Perhaps she is simply content to stay here in this not-place, in the meantime, with what remains of one she loved once and loves still.

I simply adored your analysis of Maglor. Most of the Feanorian boys would probably feel uncomfortable with being compared to their father, but it’s absolutely true that each of them carry some of Feanor’s traits. Would the authors mind sharing a positive and negative trait that each son inherited from their oh-so complex father? I see quick-temper being a resounding answer 😅
After a longggg delay (sorry!) here are our answers to this fantastic question, anon!! We wanted to all have a stab at it, so without consulting each other’s answers we each filled out our responses separately and compared them afterwards! The result is hopefully enjoyable and/or illuminating; we certainly had fun with it:
Victoryindeath2
Maedhros
Pro: Like his father, Maedhros can be charismatic, charming, clever, and insightful. Unlike his father, people drawn to Maedhros for good reasons love him for the person he is underneath all the charisma, etc.

Con: While Maedhros is clever, he is not very good at communicating his clever plans. While he has more valid reasons for wanting to keep things close to the chest than his dad does, I think that when both of them believe they are right about something, or that there is only one course to follow, it will be next to impossible to change their minds. All of this can have very bad consequences. You know what? Meta-wise, they also both think they are the main character. Only difference is that Mae thinks this is a terrible thing and Feanor thinks it is the best thing.
Maglor
Pro: Maglor like Feanor has ambition and creative talent, but I think the difference between them is that Maglor’s ambitions pretty much centered on being the best musician/songwriter and being Mae’s favorite person in the world, while Feanor just needed to be the best and most right person in everything. Feanor could adjust—“well I can’t win in New York so I will go West and after fighting my way through the unworthy folk holding me back, I will destroy Morgoth and the railroad and who will be the hero then?” Half of Maglor’s ambitions died when they left the East and the other half died when he condemned Maedhros to probable death, and he has never quite recovered fully.
Con: Maglor is extremely self-centered, tends toward feelings of superiority, and can often think his way into making other people the problem—of course, when he can’t, he throws himself into a lake, which is something Feanor would never do. Do I mean realize that he is the problem, or throw himself into a lake in despair? Yes.
Celegorm
Pro: Celegorm doesn’t really care what most people think about him, same as his dad, but Feanor tends to make this a problem for everyone else and Celegorm tends to just go off and do his own thing as far away from people as he can get. Trying to think of other similarities in good traits between them, but you’re going to have to rely on the other authors for that. If they can find such.
Con: They both can definitely bear a grudge, particularly when it relates to someone they love. Feanor never gave Indis and Fingolfin a chance, all for Miriel’s sake, and Celegorm could very much do without Fingon’s existence, and he has never really looked the same at Maglor since the leaving Maedhros in Angband debacle.
Caranthir
Pro: Though their obstinacy is of different intensities and manifestations, both Feanor and Caranthir have a stubborn drive to them, and I personally love it when Caranthir grumpily sets himself against other people for the sake of a loved one, especially Maedhros
Con: CARANTHIR IS AN ANGEL AND WE ARE GLAD HE IS HERE. HE HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING WRONG AND I LOVE HIM. Jk I know he isn’t perfect but whatever. The aforementioned stubbornness can be a negative trait as well, taken too far or in the wrong direction. Also, Caranthir has a tendency to not look outside of his immediate family, to see the value of non-Feanorians, same as Feanor and honestly a fair few of his brothers. He’s getting slightly better about it though. Slightly.
Curufin
Pro: He has so much talent in the smithy, and he has a brilliant, clever little mind. Imagine if Feanor was a good dad and didn’t get himself killed—imagine Curufin and Feanor working side by side, Curufin super-determined to surpass his father in everything. He would too. Feanor would be so proud and disgruntled
Con: LORD THE SPITE IN THAT BOY. THE SNEAKINESS AND THE JOY IN PUTTING ONE OVER ON ANOTHER PERSON. HIS FATHER’S SON
 Amrod
Pro: He has a sense of independence in that he will not just go with the flow when the flow seems wrong, and the courage to make choices for himself that others might disapprove of.
Con: Um, unfortunately, the above traits lead to, well...*cries* HE WAS SO YOUNG HE WAS THE BABIEST BABY, WHY
 Amras
I don’t know if it is just because I am hungry and need to eat dinner but for the life of me I am blanking right now. Why does Amras suddenly seem like the least Feanor-like Feanorian? He’s a little bit proud, a little bit stubborn, yes, but otherwise I can’t come up with anything significant positive or negative. Honestly, Amras? Congratulations
Mythopoeia
Maedhros
Negative: a pervasive feeling of Instability/insecurity aka incapable of feeling safe, which in Feanor turned into raging paranoia and in Mae just sort of . . . Crushing despair. A less dire negative trait: they were both fidgeters
Positive: they are both spectacular conversationalists, very perceptive and able to read a room (or a person!) and adapt accordingly if they want to (Feanor: rarely, Mae: always)
Maglor
Negative: inability to handle criticism from anyone they don’t consider a peer (for Feanor: nerdanel, for Maglor: Mae and OCCASIONALLY his teachers)
Positive: Maglor has his dad’s sense of humor without his petty meanness
Celegorm
Negative: it’s us against the world, and the us is scarcely anyone at all
Positive: I’m going to go unexpected w this one: Feanor had excellent dress sense and so does Celegorm. Feanor used this skill in his own wardrobe but also was very particular about picking fabrics and styles for nerdanel to best flatter her and he loved surprising her with things he knew she would like. Celegorm doesn’t really care about his own looks but he does employ the same skilled eye and sense in selecting fabrics, prints, clothing etc for other people; in the story we have already seen he tends to be the one selecting things in town for other people (Mae, Aredhel, Sticks, etc)
Caranthir
Negative: he isn’t very good at trying to see things from other people’s pov
Positive: his love language is making things for people or mending things they value
Curufin
Negative: that frightful ego and need to lash out and hurt others when he is himself hurting
Positive: insatiable intellectual curiosity and creative drive, that need to understand and improve things around him (with varying success)
Amras
Negative: is bad at verbally expressing his emotions
Positive: he would be a hobbyist polymath if he could, aka would explore a lot of different interests
Amrod
Negative: headstrong
Positive: after the three eldest boys, he was the most keen on Irish dance and music—not the making of, but just the enjoyment
TolkienGirl
Maedhros.
Positive: charisma.
Negative: ability to attract attention/obsession.
Maglor.
Positive: single-minded focus.
Negative: selfishness.
Celegorm.
Positive: independent spirit.
Negative: grudge-holding tendencies.
Caranthir.
Positive: bluntness.
Negative: isolation.
Curufin.
Positive: problem-solving, esp. in technical work.
Negative: jealousy.
Amras.
Positive: free-thinking.
Negative: dependence on care-takers/the status quo.
Amrod.
Positive: belief that you alone can change the world.
Negative: believe that you alone can change the world.

Imagine being Caranthir’s twin
Tumblr media
(Hope you like it anon,)
Requested by anonymous
Warnings; none
------------------------------------------------------------------
-When you were born, it was a bit of a surprise because you were born with white hair while Caranthir was born with a dark.
-Feanor and Nerdanel were ecstatic to have a daughter. Feanor found fondness over you since you shared some similarities with Miriel.
-You and Caranthir were inseparable. Even as babies, you two would cry if you got separated for too long, so things had to be done with both of you together.
-You were a few minutes older than Caranthir, and your parents spoiled you a little more since you were their first daughter.
-You didn't like leaving Caranthir out, so you always shared your things with him.
-Growing up, Caranthir was much grumpier while you were open and loved your family.
-He was more closed off and didn't like social interactions but went with you everywhere you wanted.
-You were opposites but loved each other. Feanor would be inspired to create a symbol that showed difference but perfect balance. It was inspired by both of you.
-Caranthir was known as the dark twin, while you were known as the bright twin.
-You grew up into a beautiful elleth and looked even more like your grandmother Miriel. Celegorm was happy he wasn't the only blond in the family anymore.
-You were independent and knew how to care for yourself, but your family was a bit protective of you.
-Even Caranthir would glare away anyone, thinking they might bring you trouble.
-It would become annoying quickly.
-You might be sweet toward others, but it didn't mean you were harmless.
-You were just as protective over Caranthir as he was with you.
-You had your mother's patience, but one time another elf kid was bullying Caranthir and refused to back down.
-When no one was looking, you punched the kid in the face, sending them flying.
-Caranthir and your parents would have been shocked that you got into trouble, but you refused to back down and said you were defending your little brother.
-It was unbelievable his sweet daughter could get into trouble, but at that moment, Feanor knew you shared his temper when you refused the punishment.
-That was when you were a kid, and your family had more faith in your ability to care for yourself.
-Finwe would adore you since you were his granddaughter from Feanor'side. He couldn't help but spoil you and Caranthir a little since you both shared similarities with Miriel. It might have made him emotional from time to time.
-Feanor would most likely try to keep you away from his half side of the family, but since you shared some of his tempers. You rebelled and made friends with some of your half-cousins.
-Caranthir would be pulled along because he brooded too much; he can't bring himself to refuse you whenever you want to go out with him.
-You might have looked like Miriel, but you shared a different interest in hobbies. Sewing and weaving fell into Caranthir's hands.
-Feanor would support anything, be it politics, hunting, or sword fighting.
-He couldn't deny anything from his sweet daughter, so you might have learned some manipulation skills.
-You never meant anything terrible. You just knew how to talk yourself out of trouble with Caranthir.
-None of less, you had a loving family; and you loved your sweet little brother.
-You would have a good life before the creation of the silmarils.

Curufin’s Anger
Tumblr media
- For all his collectedness and ability to hide his emotions very well, hiding his famed Feanorian temper is easier said than done for Curufin.
- Curufins anger is like a smoldering pile of embers and it festers long and is unwavering once it’s started.
- It’s nothing explosive like Caranthir’s or Celegorms, and very rarely is he rash.
- Even though he can’t hide his anger there is a modicum of control.
- It really depends on the situation that is transpiring that will make him act rash or not.
- Usually it is a physical altercation that will make him let loose, and even then there is still control behind every action and reaction to it.
- If someone has angered Curufin with something that was said it starts with a harsh warning of a glare and a verbal cue that they need to cease what they’re saying.
- If these are ignored it is quick to turn into public humiliation if necessary in a controlled voice, jaw and body tense.
- Curufin knows exactly where it is to strike to make it hurt and he makes it look so effortless.
- Unfortunately for someone on the receiving end of Curufin’s anger the ellon knows how to hold the grudge of a lifetime.
- Once the grudge has settled in Curufin he holds onto it with a vice grip.
- Curufin knows how intense and unrelenting his anger can be and with you, you’ll find that Curufin uses every bit of restraint to prevent his frustration from getting out of control.
- This doesn’t mean that he won’t get snappish with you, but he works hard to resolve issues and arguments with you quickly.
- Curufin doesn’t like to take his anger out on you at all because he knows precisely how unforgiving and vicious his anger can be.
- It is one aspect of himself that he doesn’t want emulating his Atar.
- Unlike Caranthir and Celegorm who can fuck or cuddle away their anger, Curufin doesn’t operate that way.
- Instead he will be the one who cuts off the argument and disagreement swiftly if he feels like it is getting out of control on his end.
- Curufin will then promptly take his leave and ignore any antagonizing and inflammatory comments.
- I would highly suggest not seeking him out when does this, Curufin knows his limits and allowing his space is most wise.
- Curufin will go to the forges where he can truly release his anger and frustration.
- Curufin will approach you when he’s calmed down to have a discussion in a controlled and calm manner, even if you are still angry and frustrated with him especially for leaving.
- While Curufin may not like taking his frustration or anger out on you, he can certainly handle yours.

Family
She is the only daughter of Fëanor and Nerdanel, their third child (Maedhros, Maglor, Mairafinwë, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod & Amras)
Birth
She is born in Valinor, Tirion, 16~17 years after Maglor and 12~13 years before Celegorm
Age
She looks to be 23-24, being 7,000+ years of age
_Appearence_
Hair = silver, like Miriel, her grandmother and waist lenght
Eyes = light grey, like her father
Height = 7’4 (225,55 cm)
Race/Ethnicity = Noldor
Mouth = Punch (F25278)
Skin = pale white with some lone freckles everywhere on her body
Clothes (in Valinor) = long and colourful dresses, often red and gold (Fëanor’s house colours)
Clothes (in Middle Earth) = armour, ridding gear and once every few centuries, a dress
Special features/accessories = multiples earrings and a promise ring* given by her love
* A promise ring is kind of an engagement ring, but the gem on the ring has a very small part of the fëas of the promised elves
_Love life_
Promised and loyal to = Finrod
Children = Elrond & Elros (adopted twins), Gildor (adopted by both Mairafinwë and Finrod), Laurëafëa & Laurëndo & Laurëasámo (first biological children from Mairafinwë and Finrod, boy triplets), Mélafinwë (fourth biological child from Mairafinwë and Finrod, a girl), Mairaráto (fifth biological child from Mairafinwë and Finrod, a boy) and finally, Tulwiëfinwë (sixth and last biological child from Mairafinwë and Finrod)

Dislikes
Lies, back stabbers, feeling unhelpful/helpless, seeing her loved ones distressed/hurt
Fears
Loosing her loved ones, seeing them die, loosing them for eternity
_Hobbies/Passions_
Sculpting = she followed in her mother’s steps and became her apprentice. Their sculptures are lifelike and their style so similar, you sometimes can’t tell which statue was made by the mother and which one was made by the daughter.
Healing = she absolutely loves to heal, as it helps her feeling secure in the way that if one of her loved ones is hurt, she can heal them. For a time, she had Estë’s Mána [Mána = blessing], a necklace given to her by Estë in Valinor that had great healing properties if used correctly. She gave it to Luinheneb in the first age. Later on, Celebrimbor made her a ring, one that was supposed to be strong enough to contain the enemy at the time. It wasn’t, unfortunately, and he had to create The Three. This ring was named Elenya [Elen = star(s) + Ya = ring].
_Fun fact_
Mairafinwë stole some leaves from the garden of Irmo to test them on their supposed ‘healing properties’. She put those leaves in boiling water, because they looked like tea leave and waited. While inhaling the scent of the tea, she recalled funny and happy moments of her life.Finding this weird, she went to her mother, who inhaled the scent too and found herself laughing at a memory. That night, Mairafinwë drank the tea and found herself dreaming of happy and funny moments of her life and had woken up feeling refreshed and in a good mood. She called this tea Yullonyalië*

Celegorm headcanons
He has massive pretty privilege and is completely aware of this and uses it to his advantage unlike his also canonically good looking brother Maedhros.
He's not as much of a workout junkie as people make him out to be. He's athletic yes, he has more of a lithe body type like Maglor's, but with more muscle. I actually see Curufin being the buff one out of the Feanorians given he's in the forges all day where as Celegorm spends more time running and shooting arrows so I think he's actually be sort of skinny like how Amrod & Amras who are also hunters are pictured.
Celegorm had fairly long hair which he tied back into a neat braid when he went hunting. It wasn't exactly ideal so he did have to cut it a couple times but he did like growing it out because he, like all Finwean's was blessed with great hair. Also his whole fam was praised for their hair, Feanor & Finwe had famous raven locks, Nerdanel & Mathan had hair that was a beautiful auburn color, Maedhros's fiery hair was iconic, and Maglor's hair was so long it reached his mid thigh.
Back in Valinor, Celegorm got along pretty well with all his (half) cousins except Turgon & Galadriel.
He never really got confrontational with Galadriel though. They just disliked each other because she somewhat openly hated his dad and thought he was narcissistic while he believed she was stuck up but they mostly ignored each other and gave each other fake smiles when others were around.
He and Turgon on the other hand would give each other dirty looks all the time. And talk smack about each other behind each other’s back. The unwilling victim who would hear most of this was Aredhel who would ditch them until they stopped complaining. The only thing these two will ever agree on is that Eol is garbage.
Celegorm used to give Amrod & Amras rides on Huan all the time when the twins were small. Sometimes he would let Argon ride Huan too, which is why the kid had a initially good impression of him and a part of the reason Turgon had a bad impression of him.
While Curufin was canonically Feanor's favorite son, I do think Feanor had a massive soft spot for Celegorm and let him get away with a ton of shit. Partially cuz Miriel, who's looks and silver hair he inherited but also just because Celegorm was an incredibly loving son, like the kind who give you lots of hugs and say "I love you" every day.
When he was younger, he had a massive desire to be liked by everyone so he would somewhat go out of his way to be nice. Especially in front of adults. It was also a part of the reason Orome was so fond of him, he really was a good kid despite what he later became.
Of course, many elves did like him so as he grew older, he somewhat expected to be liked by everybody he met.
It's not like he just started being mean to everyone though, If you were nice to him and didn't bother him, you were good in his book and he treated you well back. If you weren't, you would see the ugliest side of him.
Being close to most of the Nolofinweans, he spent quite a bit of time with his half aunt Lalwen and thought she was one of the coolest elves ever as a kid.

Here are some incoherent Pokemon/Silmarillion AU thoughts
*~Feanorian Edition~*
- Pokemon from Valinor have Elvish lifespans, but they still die like mortals do. When the Elves came to Beleriand they were horrified to find out the pokemon they caught on these shores had much shorter lifespans then they were used to.
- Feanor and all his sons have an Eeveelution, he gifts them an eevee egg when they are children and it just so happens that each evolved into a different type. Feanor has a Flareon, Maedhros has a Slyveon, Maglor has Vaporeon, Celegorm has Leafeon, Caranthir has an Umbreon, Curufin has an Espeon (and hes so bitter about it he wanted it to be a Flareon like his dad), and Ambarussa have a Jolteon and a Glaceon. Celebrimbor had an Eevee, it never evolved, he was too afraid of what it might turn into.
- Feanors Flareon dies with him, Slyveon died in the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, Beren accidentally killed Leafeon, Umbreon was killed defending Haleths people during the Battle of Sudden Flames, Jolteon was killed in Sirion, Glaceon was on one of the Swan Ships and Umbarto was burned badly trying to go save him. Vaporeon is still by Maglor’s side, Espeon left with Celebrimbor but ended up dying when Eregion was sacked in the SA.
- Besides Slyveon, Maedhros' signature pokemon is a Zoroark. It became a Hisuian Zoroark after it was killed in the battle where Maedhros was captured by Melkor. It helped him guard the East on Himring and was feared by both enemy and ally both for its looks and deadly temper- even if that temper was never turned on one it protected. Many used Zoroark as proof that Maedhros did die and was brought back to life, or is one of Sauron's ghostly thralls. Elrond eventually inherited him and by the SA it calmed down a lot even if its tortured appearance still frightened everyone, especially the Sindar and those who survived Doriath or Sirion. During the TA the Zoroark mostly just hangs around the woods around Rivendell with Absol not causing problems and doing border patrol.
- Miriel has a shiny Absol that stayed in Lorien after she died, but one day it heard Maglor singing and decided to follow him home since he sounded like her old partner. The Absol later decided to follow Elrond and spent most of the SA and TA helping calm Zoroark and was an invaluable partner for Elrond
- While all Elves can send feelings, wants, or vague images though osanwe to their pokemon to converse, Celegorm is the only one that can actually speak to all pokemon. He uses this ability for evil as hell gossip right in front of your face with your pokemon about you. Finrod for some reason can only speak to bird pokemon.
- Celegorm is the only one to have a full 6 Team. Besides Leafeon, he has an Entei named Huan and a Ninetails. He also has a Houndoom, Mightyena, and a Midnight form Lycanroc- everyone calls the last three The Pack since they're always together and mostly used for hunting. Ninetails is a beautiful spiteful, grudge-holding terror, but is a cold slow type of anger than Celegorms firey temper. She never forgave Beren for killing Leafeon, and blames him Luthien for Huan's death, so she burnt down most of Doriath herself before her, Celegorm, and the Pack were taken out by arrows.
- Caranthir asked Umbreon to protect Haleth and her kin on their jounrey west. It ended up staying with her until she died of old age and Caranthir let him stay with her people after. He never regretted that decision.
- Caranthir also had a Persian and a Liepard and he spoiled his pokemon the worst out of all the Sons of Feanor. Erestor (who i headcannon as Caranthirs son with Haleth) inherited both pokemon and the help him with duties in Rivendell
- While they were never "his" pokemon, after the Second Kinslaying Maedhros came out of Doriath's woods with two little Phantumps. They followed him everywhere he went and Maedhros always said they were his responsibility even if he didn't claim them. After Maedhros' death, Maglor looked for them but he never found them. He hopes they moved on.
- Back in Valinor, the first weapon that Feanor ever made became possessed by a Honedge. It was a Aegislash by the time Maedhros was born and it was the sword that Feanor waved at Nolofinwe. After Feanor's death Maedhros inherited it, and even after he gave up his crown it refused to follow Nolofinwe causing more stife as many believed that Aegislash only followed the rightful High King of the Noldor. When Maedhros was captured Aegislash stayed behind with Maglor but it never listened to him, always looking out towards Thangorodrim. Maedhros used Aegislash to defend the East and to burn down cities and it never failed him. At the end of the FA, Aegislash allowed himself to be gifted to Elros and be passed down through his descendants to only be partnered with the true Kings of Numenor. He was shattered in the SA by Sauron, and while his blade was broken the spirit inside was dormant until the blade was reforged at the end of the TA and he was wielded by Aragorn when he led the charge against the Black Gate.

further idea for comatose míriel: fëanor expects to have the same condition, and finwë tells nerdanel she is to make sure he produces multiple heirs no matter what, ones who haven't inherited this. fëanor doesn't go unconscious, but he does get spacey when he's pregnant, unable to focus on anything but growing new life. maedhros has inherited this, too, but in him it's being obsessed with having children and no interest in anything else. luckily fingon is happy to help with that!
Those are great ideas!
I feel like Feanor would be even more of an obsessive inventor than in canon in that case. He knows he’ll just forget all about his latest project next time he’s pregnant, so he had to do it now. Maybe he doesn’t even realize it for the first couple. He has Maedhros and Maglor and Celegorm and then realizes that he literally hasn’t stepped foot in a forge in a decade. So he fervently works to create something new, before he loses the idea once more. He has a duty to his father and his wife to have children though, and he does love him, so he doesn’t stop getting pregnant.
Maybe that’s why he can never replicate the Silmarils. Nerdanel knocked him up literally the day he finished them, and the last week of memories flew out of his mind. He had assumed he’d be able to take notes later, but instead he’s focused on the twins growing inside him.
Also, how spacey does Feanor go? He would probably notice pain, but anything less than that? If Nerdanel blindfolded him “to spice things up in the bedroom”, would he notice when her hands were replaced by another set? Would he think it was odd if a cock entered his ass while he was already deepthroating one? Finwe and his other offspring are very interested in finding out. (I bet they could get a pregnant Feanor to fuck Miriel and not realize it. Nerdanel’s voice urging him on, the voice is behind him and the body in front of him isn’t responsive but that doesn’t seem that odd.)
__
I bet Feanor requires his sons to check if they inherited the spacey pregnancies before they can be his heir - it wouldn’t be good for a king to lose track of the word for a year at a time, and even worse if the king just never woke up. Maedhros thinks he’d do a good job and he loves Fingon, so he gets pregnant first.
I’m picturing that for Maedhros, it’s like a switch has been flipped. Feanor goes back to normal within a year or two of giving birth, but Maedhros doesn’t. He doesn’t space out during his pregnancy, he just really enjoys it and feels like he’s fulfilling his ultimate purpose in life. And when he gives birth he loves the kid, and is so proud of how he and Fingon made a person together!
But Maedhros also feels unsatisfied. Sure, raising the kid takes a lot of his attention, but it doesn’t take much physical effort. He spent a year having his body fill a specific purpose (and the way elves work, he could do that fairly directly). Now it feels odd to only have his own life dependent on his body.
So Maedhros asks Fingon to breed him again. He doesn’t wait, it’s less than a month after their eldest is born when Maedhros brings it up. Fingon is aware that Miriel’s line sometimes has weird pregnancy effects, and wants to wait a bit to make sure Maedhros isn’t about to drop from exhaustion. (Also to make sure Maedhros physically recovers from the birth.) Fingon asks to wait a year. By the end of it Maedhros is begging during sex about how he needs to be bred, he looks so good pregnant, carrying babies is what he’s made for.
Fingon is happy to oblige Maedhros. And after that first, Maedhros only waits enough time between pregnancies to reassure the healers. Then it’s back to being Fingon’s breeding bitch.
Maedhros only owns maternity clothes now, he doesn’t need anything that can’t accommodate his bulging belly. When sorting through his old stuff to give away, he comes a cross a lot of court robes, completely unlike what he wears now. He thinks it’s funny how he used to care what the latest fashion was, and what would make him look official and commanding in public. None of that is at all inetersting, especially compared to his children, and the new baby sibling he can feel getting bigger every day

Of Stargazers and Hunters
He did not expect the events of that day. Not like this. But as for now, no one except Andreth knew, and Aegnor was grateful for that. Of course, he realized the revelation was inevitable, but little did he know that in fact, it lurked just around the corner.
Characters: Aegnor, Celegorm
Part III. (part I., part II.)
“Tell me, Sharp Flame,” Celegorm spoke again, the scorn behind his words loud and clear. „Have you considered your choice well? Do you even realize what burden you've chosen for yourself and the rest of us?”
“The rest of you?” Aegnor glared back, and indeed, the fire inside him was awake by now. “How does my marriage concern you, or any of our kin, cousin? Are you ashamed of me?”
Celegorm let out a short laugh. “No, not yet.“ He said then, his voice bearing some wicked amusement, and stared right into Aegnor's eyes. At first, his gaze was relentless. But in the end, it was the hunter who looked away. „But hear me out, Ambaráto.“ he began in a calmer voice again, glancing into the darkness of the forest. „It was during the last summer as I rode past a few villages of the Atani. I stopped at a funeral.”
“Yes, their lifespans are short.” Aegnor agreed impatiently, being confronted with things he was well aware of.
“A man stood there, with an infant in his arms.“ the hunter continued nonetheless. “It appeared the mother had died of fever shortly after childbirth.”
“Why are you telling me this? I'm in no need of such lectures.”
“Then you're surely aware that your wife may leave you sooner than you'd expect, to a place unknown.” Celegorm noted very aptly, his eyes turning to Aegnor once again. “And my question is – what then? Will you choose the path of our grandfather? Will you seek your solace with another, offending your family, even your children, perhaps?”
So this is where this argument has been heading to, Aegnor realized for himself. And he had to reject these notions. “Your assumption cannot be more wrong, cousin.” he said. “After my lady wife leaves Arda, the fate of Miriel awaits me.”
Cold silence followed, before Celegorm seethed: “Do not expect praise or sympathy from me.”
“I need neither.”
“Sure.” another derisive laugh form the hunter. “But I wonder now, what a woman this must be, to be able to steal one of our fiercest warriors from us? What a waste.” he uttered in a disgusted tone.
This was the last bit. The fire inside Aegnor's heart was now burning bright and hot. “What are you complaining about, Fëanorian? You have no right to speak like that. Not after having sacrificed an entire army to the ice of Helcaraxë!” Somehow, he could hear the last word echoed several times by the surrounding rocks and trees.
But Celegorm remained calm. “Careful, Arafinwion.” he said slowly, leaning forward to put weight on his words. “I believe this matter was settled long ago. You stood with Findekáno and spoke of forgiveness with him.”
Aegnor did not flinch a fraction, even if their foreheads almost touched. “Fear not, cousin.” he replied, holding his flame under delicate control. “My forgiveness lasts. But so does my memory. All the more when I'm listening to such twisted logic as yours.”
Angamahtar's snort could be heard from below, and then silence settled around once more, tout as a bowstring. The two elves did not speak nor move, their anger and discord reflected in their eyes only.
Huan's low growl interrupted the stillness as the creature loped up the hill.
One blink of one pair of eyes.
“Fair enough.” said Celegorm, and slowly moved back. He kept observing his cousin's face though, cautious about the flame that now burned with a different light than before. And rightly so, as now there was something more to protect.
Huan stopped before them, and after some time of observing and catching the scents, he simply reached out with his nose and lightly poked his master's shoulder. Nothing happened at first, but when he did that again, Celegorm's lips finally quirked. “Don't be afraid, lad, the quarrel is over.” he said, finally looking away from his cousin, and raised a hand to scratch Huan behind one huge, furry ear.
The hound hummed, sounding quite content. He then turned and brushed his head against Aegnor as he walked past them, into the forest again. The elf patted the creature on the side and also felt a light smile sneaking to his features. “Oromë was wise to let Huan guard you.” he commented on the previous situation.
“And who guards you, Sharp Flame?” Celegorm returned, his voice lacking much of the previous gravity though.
At that, Aegnor could only shrug his shoulders. Then he finally put his bow aside, sat back and bent his knee to rest his chin on it.
„But where's your lady wife now?” Celegorm asked all of a sudden, maybe a bit surprised with himself that he had not voiced this question earlier.
„Her company has set up a camp at the creek over the hill.” Aegnor replied softly.
Celegorm's lips tugged again. „So... shouldn't you be with her now? If I were you, I wouldn't let a moment of our time slip through my hands.”
„Certainly.” Aegnor had to agree. “But it turns out her father is not aware of today's news either.”
The hunter laughed merrily at that, and Aegnor watched the scene with keen eyes, as he hadn't seen anything like it from Celegorm for quite a long time.
“In fact, I'm a part of that company as well.” he explained further when again he had Celegorm's attention. “I'm seeing them safely back to Ladros.”
“Safely...” The hunter noted as if to himself, raising his eyebrows and shaking his head.
Aegnor cleared his throat, but otherwise chose to ignore his cousin's meaningful tone. “For tonight I took the duty of guarding the surroundings.” he added quickly.
“I see.” Celegorm sighed and turned his eyes to the starry sky once more. He seemed to be considering something, and waited for a long while before he spoke: “Huan and I could stay here and take the guarding duty, should a certain elf wish to bid his beloved a good night.”
“That elf has been wishing for that the whole evening.” Aegnor confirmed and did not even need to summon his horse, as Angamahtar had just climbed the slope and stood before him, awaiting a night ride though the pine forest.
A genuine smile was on Celegorm's lips as he said: “Well met, Aikanáro.”
The latter flashed him a bright smile in return. “Indeed, Tyelkormo,” he agreed and leapt swiftly on Angamahtar's back. “Thank you.” he said and looked at his silver-haired cousin for a final time before darting into the night.
-The End.

@finweanladiesweek
DAY ONE: Míriel Þerindë and Indis
I’ve depicted them both in their wedding gowns here, sort of two different moments in time linked together.
Under the cut is a VERY long head-canon/meta that eventually kind of turned into a fic, hidden in case you just want to focus on the art.
Indis is a Vanyar lady from the House of Ingwë, I like to think she was close in age to Finwë and they met when the Vanyar and Noldor first arrived in Valinor. They end up dancing and socialising at pretty much every event and are pretty good friends. That friendship has the potential to change into something romantic. But what’s the rush? They’re immortal. He’s a king, finally establishing a safe place for his people. There’s no danger here. No need to produce heirs. No need to marry the first person you dance with.
Míriel didn’t enter the picture until later. I like to think of her as half-Telerin hence her silver hair. Her parents were a Noldor nis and a Telerin ner who met during the great journey, her mother choosing to remain with her husband and the Teleri who lingered East of the sea. As a result Míriel was born on Tol Eressëa, and is quite a bit younger than Finwë and Indis.
Despite her typically Telerin looks, Míriel was a Noldor at heart and immersed herself in Noldorin culture and craft, soon settling on embroidery and weaving. She even journeyed to the House of Vairë to further her textiles skills and learn from the Vala and her Maiar.
I like the idea that many elves in Valinor follow a specific Valar, learning from them and acting as emissaries and ambassadors and links between them and the elves. Any elf can choose this (e.g. Celegorm and Oromë) but it is more common among the Vanyar. It just so happens that Indis is a devotee of Vairë.
So they meet in the House of Vairë. And they’re very different. Indis is philosophical, interested in the themes, and the music, and the history of Vairë’s tapestries; Míriel inspects the stitches with a magnifying glass, and has to be stopped more than once from teasing the fibres apart to see how they’re woven together.
Indis channels logic and a cool composure, very insightful and granted foresight in many matters. She’s mindful, and always present, finding pleasure in this very moment. Míriel buzzes with ideas, sometimes her head hurts and she can’t think straight because she HAS to work through this next project, move on to the next one, she can’t step away she can’t stop. And her composure can be obliterated by one blow to her pride.
But somehow the friendship works, opposites attract sometimes. And upon their return from the house of Vairë, Míriel invites Indis to Alqualondë. And after that they visit each other often, and share letters once Míriel has learned to write Sarati. And if those letters ever start to take on a more flirting tone- well there’s no rush for them either.
It’s on one of these visits that they run into Finwë, Indis introduces her new friend, and the rest is history. It’s only after this that Indis turns her keen insight on herself and has an “oh shhiiit” moment. And now her best friends are engaged and what is she supposed to do?
She helps Míriel dress for her wedding day, arranging jewels, combing her hair, lifting the heavy embroidered fabric of the wedding dress she worked for months on over her head, and finally placing her crown on top.
They’re happy. She’s happy for them. There’s no betrayal or tricks or seduction, just love. Besides it’s probably better Finwë marries a Noldor woman anyway.
So when Míriel announces that she’s expecting a baby, Indis is sure the dull foreboding she feels is nothing but jealousy from a deep part of herself that she tries to shut away. She watches and helps Míriel as she pours all her creative efforts into beautiful things for this baby. Toys and clothes and blankets and anything else she can think of. Indis teases that the child won’t have to repeat an outfit for at least 100years at this rate. They take a trip back to the place they met and work together at one of Vairë’s vast looms to make a tapestry mural for the nursery.
But soon the frenzied crafting starts to slow. And slow more. Until Míriel barely bothers to do anything. People who know her are worried, but she just takes her husbands hand and says that she’s tired, after all she is working on something special at the moment.
When Fëanáro is born Indis watches her friend scream and curse, and eventually weep with joy as she whispers to her husband “he’s the most perfect thing we’ve ever made”
Things do get better for a while. But Míriel’s eye starts to twitch when people congratulate Finwë on their son, until eventually she barks out “of course he’d get the credit! I only did all the hard work” in a rough, sarcastic laugh that’s so unlike her. She doesn’t go to any formal events after this.
She sobs to her husband that she’s frightened. She doesn’t know what’s wrong with her. She’s happy, except that she’s not. She finds no joy and no inspiration, she’s cold and tired and feels like she’s fading away.
Finwë suggests a trip away, so they go back to Míriels house in Alqualondë, and she doesn’t feel as watched, as judged, less angry and paranoid.
But the grief doesn’t lift. She can’t settle to work, she can’t find anything she wants to work on, her head is emptied of ideas and full of fog and she just wants to sleep.
Indis comes to visit them and finds Míriel in the nursery one evening, crying quietly. At first she won’t talk, simply saying that she doesn’t want to wake him, but the tears don’t stop and eventually she whimpers that she’s scared, and she’s disgusted with herself. Because she loves her son so much, but she can’t help but resent him. In some small dark part of her mind she’s angry with him, for taking her happy life away from her, taking her strength and her drive.
Indis takes her hands and pulls her to her feet and down the stairs to Finwë. “we’re going to Lorien. Tonight. Staying here isn’t helping her and she needs more than this.” She towers over both of them and there’s no arguing with her tone.
Irmo and Estë help all they can. Nienna helps more. Eventually Míriel calms. Almost eerily.
One night she calls Indis to the garden of Lorien. Míriel embraces her and kisses her cheeks and thanks her for her help. She holds her hands and tells her she’s sorry, but she’s made her choice.
Indis tried to change her mind. So does Finwë when he runs toward the sound of a raised voice. Not Míriel this time.
She asks Indis for a moment with her husband. And Indis runs to fetch Fëanáro.
She hands the baby to Míriel and asks how she can leave him, he needs her.
Míriel’s face crumples but her resolve doesn’t. “I’ve already given him everything I have”
She presses the baby into her husbands arms and kisses him before lying down on the stone bench and closing her eyes. Míriel sighs, finally feeling peaceful, and doesn’t breath again.
After the resulting uproar has died down, Indis doesn’t see Finwë very much. She visits occasionally and reads his letters about Fëanáro’s brilliant progress eagerly, but nothing is ever as it was.
When they meet again by accident on Oiolossë, it all comes back to them both. They’ve missed each other, they miss Miriel, but they don’t have to loose each other. So they fall in love, and she comes back with him to Tirion while they make a plan. Fëanáro (the equivalent of a 10yo) is wonderfully pleasant to her, he asks about his mother a lot, and shows her all the things he’s learning about and working on. He’s so like Miriel that Indis doesn’t know how Finwë stands it.
When they first tell him that they want to get married, he doesn’t think much of it, at least until he picks up on the gossip and controversy, it’s only then that he starts to realise that something is different.
Indis gets ready for her own wedding without her best friend.
Fëanáro doesn’t take the Statute well, and the problems start. He decides to move away to continue his studies. Indis is not invited to visit him when his Father is.
Finwë is terrified when Indis gets pregnant with their first child, but she’s not. “I am not Miriel. As much as some might wish that were the case.”
The relationship between Fëanáro and his half siblings is a whole separate post. But the things he says about her and her children hurt Indis.
Sometimes she wants to scream at him “I knew your mother! I was her friend! I lost her too! She would hate to hear you talk to me this way!” but she won’t. She can see how he feels and she understands why, but this doesn’t mean she takes the way he treats her children lightly, and he wishes Finwë would back her more in this. But she bares it, and she teaches her children to be kind.
This all changes with the incident. Fëanáro can lash out, he can say cruel things, but he has never threatened one of her children before. And he never will again if he wants to keep his head on his shoulders. She hears the Valar’s judgement, and knows she will comfort Finwë over his sons banishment, as much as she is grateful for it.
The rage she feels when Finwë decides to go with him is cosmic. But it’s when she sees Nolofinwë’s face that she snaps. She tells him with eyes sharper than any sword that if he chooses to go, he can never come back to her. No matter what happens between his sons, she will never forgive him for what he’s doing to her’s.
The news of his death makes her heart hurt in the strangest way. She’s closed herself off from him but the pain bleeds through. At least now he can be with Miriel, she thinks. He made it clear where his heart truly lay when he left. She laughs until she sobs, then composes herself to comfort her children.
She nearly sends Fëanáro to reunite with his father in Mandos when he insights her children and grandchildren to follow him across the sea. She nearly faints when Arafinwë comes back baring tidings of the kinslaying, the streets Míriel showed her around littered with bodies and the beach they would walk along in the evening wet with blood.
Indis stands beside her youngest son when he’s crowned and moves back into her old rooms in Tirion, abandoned when Finwë left for Formenos. After all, she’s been a ruling queen for longer than Arafinwë has lived. She’ll make a good advisor.
In Mandos Míriel is faced by the life she chose to leave behind. First her husband, and then her son. She speaks with Finwë for a long time, and many hurts are healed, but they’ve both made choices they can’t take back. Míriel stands by her decision, she chose to stay, at least in part so Finwë could move on, they make their peace with other, and she encourages him to return and make peace with his other wife. News of their son’s death stops him. He knows that he will remain, it’s with Fëanáro that his heart truly lies, not Míriel, whatever Indis may think. So he appeals for her to be allowed to leave in his place, every inch the king as he points out that the statute will remain unbroken.
She is allowed to see Fëanáro once before she leaves. There are no words for how she feels. So sad, so proud. She’s so sorry to leave him again, but she promises to watch over his sons.
Míriel returns to life, but she doesn’t return to the life she left. She stays close to the halls, and goes to a timeless place, but one she knows well.
It just so happens that Indis is a devotee of Vairë.
So much is different, and there’s a lot to work through, and it’s hard. But being back where they began, with a new life for each of them, is made easier with this reprise of their youth.
And if, as their friendship blooms again into a new form, Míriel eventually asks about the specific wording of the statute, and what it means for them being the two living parts of this three person marriage, well- there’s no rush to figure it out.

hey! yo! you mind talking a bit more about the extended fëanorian family ocs you have? how many there are, how they’re related, when they’re born, the rough arc of their life?
Hello thank you for your ask! No I don't mind talking about them at all! I love them all very much but please be prepared that this is going to be a long one and that I couldn't even fit everything I want to talk about in here
I have talked about Maglor's, Caranthir's and Curufin's wives before so I left them out on purpose. So I'm just going to talk about the third and fourth generation here.
If you exclude Elrond and Elros Maglor and his wife Cellin have four children and in order of their birth their names are Gilloth, Nelladon, Gilrin and Belegur. Gilloth has a son named Arrod, none of the other three are married or have children. Curufin and his wife Aiwë have one more child besides Celebrimbor, Aracundo. Celebrimbor himself has a son named Aenion. Caranthir and Calairie remain childless. I'm not sure yet where Gil-Galad belongs family wise in my headcanon but let's just assume he's Orodreth's son for convenience.
I don't exactly have stories for them all. Aracundo, Nelladon and Aenion are probably the most fleshed out one's when it comes to their stories but I love them all regardless.
Tumblr media
A badly drawn family tree for reference. If you want some more details there are about 2k words of bullet points under the cut :)
Gilloth
Daughter of one of Maedhros's guards and Maglor's second in command
Born some time before the Nirnaeth Arnoediad
Both her parents die in the Nirnaeth, and she is taken in by Maglor and his wife Cellin and is raised as their daughter
Loses her voice during the War of Wrath but refuses to tell anyone how it happened (possible Trauma related?)
Helps Celebrimbor run Eregion in the S.A
Is very interested in architecture and has great talent
Also helps with the construction of Rivendell and moves there after Eregion falls
Has great impact on her siblings upbringing
She and Erestor start courting after Glorfindel locks them in a room together and only allows them out after Erestor confesses his feelings
They marry mid Third Age
Their only child is called Araráto or Arrod in Sindarin
Because Maglor has given all his children a father name (be they his real children or not) she got one as well
It's Tintanárë (Sparkling Fire)
She's very close with Aracundo especially during the latter half of the second Age and the early Third Age
Her favourite people in Middle Earth are dwarves. She gets along well with them and even learns some Khuzdul from Narvi because she can't just reveal the secret
She is very strong at Oswanë and uses is constantly to communicate
Elrond has a lot of headaches because she directs her absurd thoughts at him to annoy him
Arrod is her sunshine and she would die for him
Not a very good warrior but she's doing her best
Aracundo
Second Born son of Curufin and Aiwë of the Teleri
Fathername: Artafinwë (Exalted Finwë)
He's my depressed disaster gay
Tall boy™ (maybe even taller than Maedhros?)
Born: 464 F.A (same year as Turin because reasons) in Nargothrond
He doesn't remember his dad because his parents parted ways after the Lúthien incident
He grows up in Cirdans care because that's where his mom took him
His best friend growing up was Ereinion even though the other is several years older than him
He doesn't have a lot of temperament and is more like his mother, calm and sensitive
Fights in the War of Wrath as Ereinion's second in command but is more known for his strategies and not for his actions on the battlefield
He and Ereinion get married early into the Second Age (yes he's Gil-Galad's husband and they love each other very much fight me)
He goes absolutely berserk once he sees his brother used as a banner of Sauron's forces after Eregion falls and probably takes down half their army by himself
People who knew Maedhros had a very very vivid flashback that day
When his mother sails not long after he remains in Middle Earth to fight Sauron
He gets much more quiet and reserved after losing his brother, mother and nephew in one go
He is very much pro Last Alliance and openly supports Elendil but mostly because he wants to avenge Celebrimbor's death
Uh… you know who dies during that battle? Ereinion and Aracundo blames himself for it
He stops speaking and becomes a shadow of himself afterwards
Refuses both the crown and Vilya
Lives with Cirdan for some time but moves to Rivendell after Celebrían sails to support Elrond
Has no big part in the second ring war
He sails alongside Cirdan and Celeborn
His life gets from good to worse to tragic to suffering
But he gets reunited with Ereinion in Valinor so it's not a total tragedy
Nelladon
Maglor's and Cellin's first biological child
Born: 1700 S.A
Died: 2770 T.A.
Has Nerdanel's signature red hair but otherwise full on takes after his mother's side of the family
His fathername is Russanáro (copper fire)
Aso has the epithets Copperhead from the dwarves, Pityatinto (Little Sparkle) from his grandfather and Tyalmahto (Toymaker) from the Numenorians
Self sacrificing idiot (we'll get to that later)
His passion is toymaking but also woodworking but he's also a great singer and loves storytelling
For every new baby family member he makes an abundance of toys and when all of them grow up he travels the world to make toys for the children of other families
The only members of his own family to never receive a toy from him are his younger brother Belegur, as well as his cousins on his mother's side of the family (all of them are born after his death)
A very good boy, only wants to make the people happy
He finds Aenion again with the dwarves of Erebor after they establish their kingdom there
Tries to talk him into visiting their family but stays unsuccessful until his death
Speaking of his death and self sacrificing
He dies during Smaugs attack on Erebor while he tries to make time for Thrain and Thror to escape. He faces Smaug in the throne room with nothing more than a iron shield on him
And burns
He fully knew he was going to die but he did it for his friends
Probably aroace
Also the first member of the House of Fëanor to get re-embodied
Gilrin
Maglor's and Cellin's only biological daughter and Fëanor's only biological granddaughter
Born: 20 T.A.
Like Celegorm she takes after Miriel in terms of appearance but inherited her grandfather Tinwës blonde hair
Not the tallest but still like half an inch taller than Fëanor and Curufin
Has a lot of artistic talent and can paint life like images
She painted the wall painting of Isildur cutting of Sauron's finger only with a very bad sketch from Glorfindel and a mental image provided by Galadriel as a reference
Basically always happy and smiling
Hates it when she has one-sided conversations, feels like she's intruding somehow
Celebrían is her big idol and she was devastated when she got hurt and had to sail
Was even more devastated after Nelladons death and isolated herself for a while
Starts traveling with Gildor and his group from that point on to get some distraction and is among the elves who meet Frodo, Pippin and Sam in the Shire
Will not sail until her parents do
Does her best to support Aragorn as the new king of Gondor because she feels like that's what's she owes to Elrond and partially also Elros even though she never met him
The most Avarian out of her siblings
Belegur
Finwë 2.0
Seriously the boy looks like Finwë as much as Arwen looks like Lúthien
People find it quite disturbing (People are Maglor, Glorfindel and Cirdan)
Fathername: Cuináro (living fire)
Born: either 3019 T.A. or somewhere between 10 and 50 Fourth Age
Youngest member of the House of Fëanor even younger than his youngest nephew
Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen and Arrod call him little uncle and he hates it (he loves it but pretends he hates it)
Spends most of his childhood in Gondor because his parents moved the like almost immediately to be with Aragorn and Arwen
Has a deeper connection to men than all of his other siblings (aside from Elros for obvious reasons)
He feels weird when he sees his best friends from childhood grow up, get children and then see those grow up and have children of their own all while he himself is still a child/teenager/going adult
When Elfwinë's son Éomund II. who he was closest with dies, Belegur is devastated
His relationship with mortality becomes rather complicated afterwards
Dedicated scholar and historian
Also only sails when his parents will
Has a very easy time befriending people
Probably the best warrior out of his biological siblings just because Gilrin hates fighting and Nelladon just doesn't care about weapons
In possession of the one Feanorian Braincell might as well have inherited it from his mother)
Aenion
Celebrimbor's son
Born somewhere between 1620 and 1680 S.A
I have no idea who his mother is, any suggestions?
Thought about making him the love child of Tyelpë and Annatar but this feels kinda weird but also hilarious
Looks like Curufin acts like Caranthir
Cantëacurufinwë™ (blame the fact that Tyelpë is called Nelyacurufinwë)
Aenion probably isn't his real mothername but he calls that himself and everyone just does the same
Grumpy cat™
Raised by dwarves after Eregion fell and stayed with Durin's line until the Sacking of Erebor (Thrain brought him to Rivendell)
Speaks almost no Sindarin but is fluent at Westron and Khuzdul
Has no interest in learning Quenya
Creative use of swear words
A Smith like almost everyone else in his father's line
If he is Sauron's child, he has very much cat eyes and you can't convince me otherwise, also the Ring would probably love him
He goes back to Erebor after the dwarves retake it and helps them rebuild it
Feels very guilty for Nelladons death because he couldn't convince him to flee with him
Can't look Cellin or Maglor in the eye because of this
Fights during the War of the Ring alongside the Dwarves of Erebor
Sails with Gimli and Legolas
Arrod
Son of Gilloth and Erestor
Born sometime after his parents wedding
Takes more after his father in terms of appearance but has been influenced a lot by Glorfindel growing up
A total goof
One of the elves who 'greet' Thorin and company when they arrive in Rivendell
Gets into unnecessary fights very often
Very protective
Loves Estel to death and is very sad when Aragorn grows up and doesn't want to be carried around piggyback style anymore
Does it anyways
Idk I have not thought about him a lot
Here and here are Picrews that visualise them :) || Tolkien OC Overview here

Assorted House of Feanor Thoughts
I wrote this as a reply to someone, but then realized that this should be a post of its own.
Line between extrapolation, interpretation & headcanon is going to be fluid here
Long post under cut
The seven sons in general:
all moody, fierce, intense and brilliant, each in various different ways
none of them can really stand to be cooped up in one place for long
F R E C K L E S you will not convince me otherwise
Apart from the ones explicitly described as pretty (ie, Maedhros and Celegorm) they’re actually relatively plain by elf standards, or at least sort of rugged-looking, especially compared to their part-Vanyar cousins - I mean, figures that some would turn out more like Miriel or Nerdanel both of which were supposedly more average.
all are very resourceful having spent most of their lives helping out with their parent’s projects, exploring the wilderness, or (save for Celegorm) hanging out in Aule’s halls. Most can probably whip up a steampunk or magitech solution to basic war-related problems
Because of this they’re a very tight-knit group
growing up, they did not know many children their age; Ironically the most contact they had was with their cousins because Feanor paid semi-regular visits to Finwe. Apart from Turgon (and Orodreth if you place him in the second rather than the third post-journey generation) the cousins really dug the adventure stories. (Galadriel pretended not to be interested and offered plenty of critiques, but listened anyways)
more survival skills and just a lot more casual than your average princes
They’d all been adults for a good while by the time of the rebellion; the twins are a tad older than Aredhel, Galadriel and Argon; Caranthir and Angrod are about the same age. Curufin is younger than Aegnor.
They all look back at that trip to the lightless shore of the outer sea as a cherished family memory
Also I don’t think Feanor disciplined his sons very much after all his own father let him get away with everything. In his eyes the brats can do no wrong especially not Curufin and to a lesser extent Amrod Nerdanel tried her best to counterbalance this and it kind of worked on some of them, but the three middle ones were a lost cause
I think a lot of the weight behind the oath comes from how Feanor made them promise him to see it through on his deathbed. It was his literal last wish.
Maedhros:
The Leader™, the most strong-willed and the deadliest fighter by a huge margin. What the orc under your bed has nightmares about.
Obviously a very competent diplomat, strategist, and the sort to put constructive results over personal glory; resilient, formidable, unpretentious and tough as leather
but not at all overconfident, and the type who is not blind to the flaws of the people he loves. He knows very well that Feanor wasn’t perfect and does many things that his father would not have agreed with - at the same time he has a strong sense of obligation, honor and loyalty which turns out to be his fatal flaw in the end when being loyal and keeping his word  increasingly requires him to do dishonorable things
if there was a definite breaking point it was the fiasco with Dior’s sons
Stoic but courteous and eloquent; From Finwe’s death onwards increasingly grim, grizzled and not very hopeful, though he’s the sort to give his all and try to be noble even when there’s no reward or even thanks or respect.
Despite this, he has as a dry sense of humor and at times uses it to defuse tense situations or disarm people he’s negotiating with (see the scene with Thingol’s message) - does have a streak of gallows humor to him especially after the Thangorodrim incident
As the heir Feanor actually let him in on trade secrets and scientific speculation; Their relationship is probably the most equal; I do think Feanor was capable of actually appreciating that Maedhros got a mind of his own and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself. Feanor values independent thought, even if he’s not always good at really living that value with his tendency to take things personally and see others as taking sides for or against him.
Can’t really craft stuff to the same degree without his right hand. He then focussed on more abstract/mental pursuits which were perhaps his forte, to begin with but it still bothers him more than he lets on, especially since he still retains, or swiftly regained, his skill at making things dead.
He may or may not qualify as a cinnamon roll but he definitely looks like could kill you
Maglor:
Maedhros might have been the token responsible sibling, but Maglor was the understanding, comforting one and always had a nurturing streak - hence why he was the one to take in the kids.
Sensitive Artistic Type™ - goes from quirky and passionate back in Valinor to melancholy & tormented as the war drags on
one of those people who despair over & get self-critical over their work even when it’s regarded as masterpieces
Like Feanor and Miriel before him, he tends to get super absorbed in his work/art and just plain disappears for days
Now some ppl hold that he didn’t start having second thoughts until near the end, but judging from how he comes along to Fingolfin’s party or to hang out with Finrod, I’d hold that he was always ‘the nice/gentle one’, but not solely in a positive way; Unlike Maedhros he did not stand up to Feanor about the thing with the ships and indeed lets Maedhros talk him out of turning himself in at the very end, so he’s probably somewhat lacking in assertiveness
Even so, he’s probably one of the better fighters, given the difficult territory he gets, that he’s the one to kill Ulfang, and how long he survives. He probably feels ambivalent about this.
I imagine him having an agility-based fighting style
Probably codified the heroic epos as a specifically Noldorin art form
Celegorm:
A lot of ppl focus on the barbarian aspect, but I’d say he actually has some degree of ‘subverted prince charming’ going on, with how he sweet-talks Luthien at first before throwing her in the dungeon, and how he seems to have been one of the more accomplished ones, joining a respected order and all
He’s actually pretty elegant and perhaps playfully gallant, but it’s a facade; He’s an animal underneath; though his instincts are probably somewhat nobler than what ends up happening when he gets roped into Curufin’s schemes
usually, the first to react and leap into action when something happens.
Herculean strength, daunting presence
also a fairly efficient general, if a bit of a glory hound and pretty fearless in the pursuit of victory
very much has an ego and doesn’t like being humbled at all
Strikes me as the sort of person who would take badly to the realization that they can no longer return to the glory of the past or being judged unworthy, not that he’d respond with anything but defiance
Wrestles giant monsters barehanded
Always low-key wished to fight creatures of darkness before the rebellion to test his might against them; Orome and the Maiar members of the hunt would have told stories of them
though he gets his pretty face from Daddy, his strong build comes from Nerdanel, possibly somewhat accentuated by his being a dude
Caranthir:
grumpy, moody, no filter, likes his alone time, shows his feelings mostly through actions, also somewhat pragmatic
the quartermaster; Actually one of the smarter ones, if not outright the second smartest after Curufin, though he has more a logistic/administrative sort of intelligence
generally one of the more prosaic, practical family members, or maybe he’s just more subtle about his dramatic side or has a harder time expressing it. Definitely has Hidden Dephts™
I mean, putting your hideout on the slope of a mountain near a deep, dark lake circled by mountains? Goth AF. A+ aesthetic there.
Hosts the family get-togethers at his fortress. Has most certainly shoved Celegorm and Curufin in the lake at some point
has a certain respect for strength, valor and skill even in ppl he doesn’t necessarily like; Not at all diplomatic or polite, but also not finicky or fastidious, so actually forged a whole lot of alliances on a “everyone’s money/swords are equally good and we don’t have to set conditions” basis and seems to have been pretty successful at this
started out haughty but definitely learned to be more open-minded/ broaden his horizon over his time in Beleriand - but as no good deed goes unpunished, Ulfang happens
Whereas Curufin and Celegorm can put up a noble veneer but will totally stab you in the back if provoked, Caranthir’s sort of the opposite, in that he’s rude and quarrelsome on first contact but has a good heart deep down (see the Haladin incident) and doesn’t keep grudges long term once he’s done grumbling where Celegorm is sore loser and Curufin a spiteful twerp.
though personally, I don’t see Caranthir as trying to reign himself in. He wouldn’t really be known as “the harshest” in that case. Who was gonna teach him to behave himself, Feanor maybe? kek.
Curufin:
We have a lot of actual dialogue & description for him - he has this characteristic little defiant smile, is often coldly contemptuous in tone, some level of ruthless pragmatism
has mild/vague foresight - nothing as impressive as what Finrod and Galadriel have, but he has it more or less to the degree that Feanor did.
actually pretty insightful, thought-through and political-minded in some ways, too bad he shares Feanor’s tendency for unwarranted suspicion and factionalism, as well as a tendency to just act on his own without checking with anyone
always either filthy from work or fully blinged-out and impeccably groomed, no in-between
more calculated and subtle than Feanor - not that Feanor ever needed calculation or subtlety since he could get by on sheer awe or intimidation. Celegorm and Maedhros have that same quality in spades and Curufin’s a little bit jealous
Not actually that much older than the twins, but always acted older than his age, especially once he heard that Feanor was the same
collects weapons, loves fancy horses, the most traditionally aristocratic of the seven
Got married relatively young; saw it as a matter of honor to further his family’s line
continued his scholarly pursuits in Beleriand; this is part of why he elected to share a territory with Celegorm
The last Celebrimbor ever heard of him was a magically sealed box filled with research notes he sent out in case he didn’t make it out alive
Did not take his parents’ estrangement well and is stubbornly salty toward Nerdanel (though deep down he misses her as much as his brothers if not more)
Frequently the Bad Influence/ Shoulder Devil to his brothers.
But when he gets excited about his research/craft he’s got this “exited cocky little boy” side to him that’s surprisingly pure.
Only Nerdanel and possibly Celebrimbor’s mom are allowed to call him ‘Atarinke.’ His brothers might still use it when they’re teasing or scolding him.
The Twins:
Every time a fic does something else with them than “generic prankster redheads” I cry with joy
We don’t have that many data points on them, but most of them suggest they’re every bit as fierce as their brothers
they’re somewhat aloof & mostly do their own thing;
As kids they’d mostly sit in a corner and play with each other. Possibly deliberately played up their identicalness as a kind of emo fashion statement / to fuck with people (”Should we do this Ambarussa?” - ”I don’t know, what do you think, Ambarussa?”)
never really gave up their semi-nomadic ways
Compared to Celegorm they probably more on stealth and precision than strength and bravado. They suddenly appear in front of you, and bam! You’ve got an arrow poking out of your face. Probably the ones scouting the perimeter of the camp.
Amras is a bit sassier, but it’s actually Amrod who’s a little bit braver.
Hardly ever argued until their parents’ estrangement; That led to quite a few quarrels between them.
For all his faults, Feanor made a point of doing things with each of them individually.
quietly nursing some level of pent-up despair and frustration until they push for the assault on Sirion
In the version where one of them dies, and then no one ever talks about it, - I imagine that the remaining one ended up cynical in a “let’s just get it ever with we’re already doomed after all’ kind of way
Bonus:
Celebrimbor
“Curiosity killed the cat but the second mouse gets the cheese” incarnate. He’s a sweet, excitable,  deeply good guy, but Curiosity is the strongest force within him, besides maybe “think of the potential”
very bold in his thinking, not held back by any conventional boundaries. This is partially why he ended up more independent than his father and uncles but ironically that might in a sense make him more similar to grandpa than any of them
Really looks like Feanor. Like, Arwen and Luthien level of resemblance. It takes ppl a bit to notice because of how different his general demeanor and surface-level personality is.
Very scattered and absent-minded, prone to sudden flashes of inspiration, often shows up in some form of disarray
spent his adolescence at Formenos. Retained a certain affinity for wintery places ever since
He sensed something fishy about Sauron before long, but between wanting to avoid the family propensity for unwarranted suspicion and being tempted by all the possibilities of what he could do with that power/knowledge even if it did come from a fishy source, he didn’t act before it was too late - he can't have been fully clueless since he hid the three; There was definitely just a bit of actual seduction/forbidden fruit appeal in place there, whether to use the word “hubris” probably depends on your philosophy.
He drops the ‘th’ once he renounces Curufin, but slips right back into the old habit when excited or exasperating. At some point during his rule of Eregion, he stops bothering to hide it - A similar thing happens when he’s talking Sindarin with his northeast Beleriand accent.
I know this is a very popular old hat headcanon, but... His other name is also “Curufinwe”. Everyone called him Telperinquar from the start, lest all three come running and grumble about being distracted from work, but after the Nargothrond debacle, he had other reasons for not using it. But really, Telperinquar/Celebrimbor is just another more metaphorical way to say “this baby shall be good at working with his hands” so yeah
My HC for where he was between the Finrod incident and the second age is as follows: He departed for war with Gwindor’s troupe (this is someone who tried to engineer a way around entropy - not a “do nothing” sort of guy) and fled the battlefield with Turgon. (hence some of the passages that place him in Gondolin can still be made to work. He totally made Earendil’s baby-sized mail coat) He fled with Idril’s party. Had she not tipped him off somehow he would probably have died with the rest of the smith’s guild. Or perhaps he grabbed all the valuable records he could find and ran for it because someone needed to preserve them. As living surrounded by the survivors of Doriath would have been awkward to say the least, he went to the isle of Balar to offer his skills and service to Gil-Galad. This is where he befriended/ reconnected with Galadriel and Celeborn.
Finrod once told him the “faithful stone” legend from Brethil. It would be an inspiration to him much later. Generally credits Finrod with being a good influence on him.
Judging by the stars on the doors of Durin his stance on his family probably softened over the years. He essentially attained their original new dream of exploring distant lands and building unparalleled new realms, at least for a while - also definitely has a similar “screw destiny!”/ “I defy you stars!” attitude. Perhaps he wanted to see their vision done right.
But on some level, I think he also wanted to associate himself with their fame eventually especially once his own accomplishments grew. His feelings were probably always very ambiguous because he must have admired and envied their great works but also lived getting weird looks whenever he did what he’s best at and loves doing most in the world because it associates him with these very ambiguous people whom many hated... at one point in the past he must have really admired his father and grandfather, I mean, he came with them across the sea.
Nerdanel
She got Feanor the apprenticeship / gave him the idea after they met on their travels.
Were seen as something of an eccentric hippie/ hipster couple in the early days
She’s tough, confident and definitely quipped/ yelled back at times. Definitely described as ‘strong-willed’ and individual. Like this was a ‘kindred spirits’ thing before everything went to hell
it counts for something that even during the ugly bitter parting scene the worst Feanor could say was “someone must’ve turned you against me because you definitely cared once” rather than “you’re a traitor” for all that everything else in that scene made him very punchable
Their relationship dynamic, as I see it, is that she’s the one person who just sees and treats him like a normal dude. No apprehension, no fawning. He’s not “the greatest” or a tainted aberration to her, he’s simply a like-minded friend. So she’s pretty chill about his idiosyncrasies and doesn’t see them as a big deal, but on the other hand, she’s not overawed and will not take bullshit
Since she is good at understanding people she probably usually gets where he’s coming from even when he’s not being reasonable
possibly invented abstract art; was most certainly influential.
the elves who serve Aule probably have their own little traditions. She might’ve imparted some of those on her descendants
Also ppl tend to forget that she also does metalwork. Again, it’s quite possible that she got him into it and that if they’d never met, he might have landed in a completely different discipline
I think it says a lot about Feanor that he chose her for being smart, creative and independent-minded. It shows that he actually values these things and that it’s not just a rhetorical device;  he’s not a hypocrite, he failed at what he was genuinely trying to aim for.
She had Finwe won over the moment she mentioned that she likes children. To Feanor’s chagrin, she proclaimed that his then-tiny half-siblings were the cutest thing ever but since he was trying to impress Nerdanel, he actually kept his composure there.
She was totally buds with Earwen and Anaire.
I really like those fics where she played some part in the reconstruction efforts. She’s already renowned for her wisdom and has some familiarity with the court, so why wouldn’t Finarfin make her an advisor?
Miriel
She was described as having “silver” hair like what the teleri sometimes have, but that was for lack of a better world. It’s actually pretty close to pure white. It was an unprecedented anomaly. Celegorm got it. Though overall Maglor might be the one who most looks like her. Or maybe Caranthir.
Well, her tendency to refuse to eat her words no matter what has certainly proven highly heritable
Canonically one of those ppl who talks very fast
Feanor doesn’t look very much like her at all, but he talks like her and is similar in his body language etc. The shape of her hands, however, has made it all the way to Celebrimbor in an unbroken line. Maglor’s got em too.
She was the only one of her family to make the great journey. That’s why “the names of her kin are not recorded”. You see, they tried to convince her not to go, and that only made her more determined.
Miriel and Indis used to have this thing where Miriel would sing while Indis plays the instrument. First time Indis caught Maedhros and Fingon doing something similar she got very emotional about it. She told them how she and Miriel also used to have a sort of odd friendship despite their opposite looks and personalities. Maedhros had at this point never even heard that they used to be friends. She proceeded to tell him some fun stories from Miriel’s youth and encouraged the two to spend time together.
We’re told that Miriel and Finwe only got together in Valinor; Since Indis had a thing for him since before the Vanyar moved out of Tirion it’s fully possible that Indis actually liked him first. Maybe she actually introduced them to each other, like she wasn't confident enough to ask him on a date so she brought her friend, only for the two to be immediately smitten with each other. Poor Indis decided that she had no chance and moved out of town when Ingwe did.
Miriel definitely expresses her love/admiration in the way of “You! You’re perf! I must make art of you!”
Since his arrival in the halls of Mandos, Feanor has made several of Vaire’s Maiar cry with his critique of their tapestries, but he holds that his mom’s are best.
Feanor himself
In general, I hold that while he said many things that were not right, there’s a lot of what he prophecied that was not quite wrong and does come true in a kind of way, even if not necessarily for himself and his family. They sort of pave the way as Promethean figures. The second mouse gets the cheese (it’s usually some Nolofinwean)
Though he’s also the ultimate example of “you are not immune to propaganda”. Literally the smartest man in the world; Still touchy enough to be an easy mark for emotional manipulation.
I think a lot of ff undersells what a polymath he must’ve been and that part where he worked on many different topics and was “the most learned”.
You know the type of author who has a bazillion unfinished wips going and jumps wildly from topic to topic? Feanor’s research notes are exactly like that, especially the tendency to disintegrate into cryptic jottings and notes right before the most interesting part.  Just like the unfinished texts from HoMe Just like Gauss or Euler, having invented everything a hundred years ahead and 40% more discoveries buried that he never felt ready to publish. (I can also definitely see the sons – especially Maedhros and Curufin – spending the better part of the siege of Angband compiling some of it into a presentable format. Celebrimbor would then be the one to stumble upon implications /corollaries that had somehow been missed for thousands of years.
For all that I enjoy fics where they’re all smoll and adorable as much as the next person, canonically we’re given every indication that he was an adolescent or young adult by the time the remarriage occurred. The published silm has him “well-nigh full-grown” by the time Indis started having kids; In the HoME passage detailing the romantic meeting on the mountain it’s said that he was “wandering in the mountains” (ie, old enough to do so on his own) at the time. He moved out as soon as he could, so he and his half-siblings never actually spent any significant time in the same household
I mean, he reacted like a teenager would, and IMHO neither his character nor Finwe’s make any sense if this wasn’t a single parent situation early on.
Personally, I really don’t like that headcanon that he was nicer to the sisters for no reason. I don’t think his relationship with Fingolfin was ever much better than the sort of “awkwardly tolerating” we saw at the reconciliation scene; At the same time, I don’t think things would ever have escalated to that degree if Melkor hadn’t gone mucking things up.
In the same vein, I don’t think he always had beef with the Valar. He used to hang out in Aule’s halls and let Celegorm study with Orome after all and studied their language. - he certainly seems to have had some romanticism for the Hither Lands evident in his speeches, he traveled far past the well-lit areas, made crystals that shine in starlight etc. so he was probably always somewhat independent-minded and he certainly knew, better than anyone, that the Valar are imperfect and can’t fix everything (they couldn’t heal Miriel after all) - but it’s a long way from healthy skepticism and understandable disappointment to asserting bad intentions where there are none.
There’s a long way between not wanting a relationship with someone, and pointing stabby objects at them. Feanor was always difficult and never the type of person to be easily satisfied but at the same time, he clearly had his “delight” in his work and life as it was pre-Melkor. He could’ve gone on as an inventor and author of strongly worded opinion pieces; perhaps the elves were even “meant” to go back & come into contact with the Edain for a brief while, just without all the murder.
The thing about Melkor’s lies is that they made a complicated situation conveniently easy in a way that he (and Fingolfin!) would want to believe. It’s not really either of their fault that they both exist, but if your rival is actually out to get you then suddenly all your negative feelings are justified
Personally, I don’t think it the remarriage made that much of a difference - Miriel would still be dead. What Feanor’s really mad at is the inherent unfairness of the world. But he can’t fix or fight that, so in a misfire of his engineer’s mindset that thinks in terms of simple cause and effect and wants the world to be logical and controllable, he blamed something tangible (Indis.)
I think Melkor hates him so much because he’s kinda what Melkor wishes he was or likes to think he is. They’re both the mightiest of their respective kinds and don’t really fit in, but Feanor’s actually extremely creative. He goes and does his own thing, and maybe errs in overlooking that no man is an island and that all works are built on those of others, but, look at Melkor who wants all the scale of a group project but none of the “cooperation” part and basically can’t make anything of his own. “You’re like me, yet you’re successful? I cannot allow it!”
In a sense you have classic Satan and Miltonian satan in the same setting, and they can’t stand each other
