White Darkness was better than I expected. I don't know enough about Haitian culture or history to know if the author got everything right, but it was certainly more nuanced and respectful than a lot of other portrayals I've encountered. It was overall well written and engaging, and I'm intrigued by the introduction of the Great Old Ones. I know there are lots of eldritch abominations in the VNAs, but I didn't expect actual Lovecraftian gods!
