I took advantage of the continued nice weather this morning and took Zella hiking as soon as we dropped the kids off for school. I’m so glad I did because as soon as we got home the clouds rolled in and the temperatures plummeted!
Wolves with wolves are never savage 🐺
I got off work before the kids got out of school today, so Zella and I took advantage of the warm weather for a beautiful afternoon hike. She even got to chase a squirrel!
About 15 minutes before I go in to work, he starts to play DIRTY and just lay against me, staring at me like this….
Zella, action hero!
What could be better for your Daily Dose of Dog than Zella racing through fallen leaves in the autumn sunshine? Enjoy!
It was windy at the lake today, but I was still surprised that we had the trails all to ourselves. We took the blue trail, which I’ve hiked dozens of times and know particularly well, so I was surprised by how many pictures I took. The sunlight really light up the fall leaves! We found several small (if slightly terrifying in the case of the ground wasps) friends today.
Today’s Daily Dose of Dog features Zella’s puppy, Rhino, visiting on a play date.
I don’t know what she’s doing with her face, but her ears are hunting for small things that scurry
Today’s Daily Dose of Dog brought to you by Zella, proving that she can, sometimes, at least pretend not to be a goober.
We had a lovely hike at Warbler Ridge this morning. There was one other hiker who pulled in at the parking lot right after us, but they maintained distance the one time we passed on the trail.
We followed what looked like a fresh cut trail until the sound of a power saw startled both of us. Then we found a dry creek bed and followed it back to the trail. I didn’t know there was that much sand in this part of the state!
Sometimes…Zella is not very smart
We went on a family hike and picnic this afternoon. There were a LOT of other people on the trail and Zella was very much excited to see everyone. We also saw about 7 other dogs on our hike.
Today’s Daily Dose of Dog, featuring Zella’s noodle tongue!
Today was a good day for a hike! The trail was pretty busy today. We passed 4 college aged kids who seemed to be having a discussion about the oxygen cycle and trees, and a couple that had a handful of lovely fall leaves. Zella was very excited to meet each of these people!
Another lovely morning hike down at the lake. First frost of the season and lots of pretty fall leaves!
Despite the wet grey start to the day, we had a lovely 1.5ish mile hike this afternoon. This one was significantly more challenging than the last one, but Ranger did fantastic and both dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We found a shed deer antler, a turtle shell, and some sort of plant gall (maybe an oak gall?).
Took Ranger (and Zella) for his first post-op hike this morning! It was beautiful out at the lake with the leaves starting to change colors and all the little purple asters along the trail. And not only are the pelicans back, but the vultures were out in force today too! Makes me wish I had brought the good camera.
Zella and I went for a walk at Woods Lake this morning. The pelicans are out in force again and the leaves and sumac are changing colors. We also saw two large vultures in a dead treetop that at first I thought couldn’t be a bird because it was far too large. (In my defense it was too large to be a huge bird, because it was two large birds!)
