improvised a tablecloth from one part of the long warp yesterday and i am so pleased. nice things.

colourchanging silk thread peeking through and making the tiniest shiny pearls

turned out to clearly but also near imperceptively have two sides: one smoother, showing the lines and colours of the silk better one rougher, making this pebble texture with the warp threads a very textured surface, burying the lines deeper, making them fade more into the background, where on the other side they seem to have equal weight to the cotton weft

it must have to do with the cotton single used for the weft. it had a lot of character, felt wiry but soft, a lot of twist. even on the bobbin it looked very smooth, individual threads clearly separated.

#weaving #handweaving #cotton #there are many skipped threads in it that bug only me #ohwell #weave and learn #kind of feels like i'm still working on processing all the information this warp has given me #you cut it off and are swamped in material in information #and looking at things #really looking at them #takes time and can't be rushed #and so many things can be learned by putting the thing you made into situations #can only be learned that way #it sounds so vague but what i mean is #i would never have found out how much this cloth makes white porcelain almost glow #if i hadn't decided to use it as a tablecloth #and how it's almost textured enough to make resting your elbows on it against a hard surface uncomfortable #and isn't that interesting? #i like knowing those things

#knitting #lace rot #wip #brioche rot #idk if that is a real tag but i sure as fuck got it #everything shown here is a wip except the red and black striped blanket they're all on #unless weaving in ends is part of being finished. i've been sleeping with that blanket for over a year now and they're still hanging <3 #also this isn't even technically all my wips i have at least one more but it would've been annoying to add #anyway there's one lace scarf. one brioche scarf. one garter stitch chevron scarf. #the white and red stripped blanket is a baby blanket that isn't finished #the dark grey thing is sleeves for a brioche sweater (the sleeves are the only th ing that exist) #below that is the body of a drop sleeve super textured sweater. that at this point i'm thinking about making into a vest. #i've put off knitting the sleeves for it for like 6 months now idk if they'll ever get made #rounding out is a knit lace tablecloth where i started fucking around and making lace (shit) up at the ends because i had mroe yarn left #and my newest lace doily that's going to be so big that i'm going to make it a wall hanging probably #most of these are over 75% of the way finished and i just. i just gotta bring myself. i just gotta do it. i just gotta knit them.

Idk if this is a controversial view or not, but I think that what is good in the show is good in spite of Rolin Jones, not because of him, and I think that will apply to future seasons as well. It will be successful because of the hard work of the actors we’ve come to admire, not due to stupid plot twists and plotlines Jones think are good ideas. For example I don’t think the changes to Daniel would have been as amazing and well received as they have been without the innate talent and skill of Bogosian. RJ didn’t do that. The script is fine and dandy but it’s Eric’s delivery and commitment to character that made it work. Credit where credit’s due.

I agree one hundred and ten percent. Also while I have not read RJ's first draft of the first episode, some of my friends did and gave us a highlight reel and boy howdy that thing was a piece of work. It's got a lot of bad writing in general, like 0 stage directions especially about character emotions, so this can 100% be attributed to the actors. Also the loustat sex scene in Ep 1 was originally still gonna be a threesome with Ms Lilly getting double penetration, even tho why the fuck would a gay man want to fuck a woman? There are other writers listed on IMDB as well as a story editor. Some may have contributed to the bad writing (looking at you writer of Ep 5) but there is also a lot of talent and love for the characters coming from ppl who work on the show. Like I don't think it's a coincidence the worst episodes were both directed by the same guy. So it's not everyone who fucked up but it does impact the way I am many others view the show going forward.

I'm gunna end up having all the patterned paper+fabric scraps layed out I think
