Prisema, did you name Mochi after munchi, like having the munchies?
Is your plan for him to become "Mochi/Munchi Knight", the great devourer of sweets, goods and evil?
"He's named after mochi, a little doughy snack. And...I suppose he does kinda look like one, as silly as the name may be. It is rather fitting...hehehe."

So, I've heard some voices here and there lamenting how little Gabe content - especially new Gabe content - there was and you know what? I completely agree, so I thought why not, I can try to add my little droplet into this tiny sea of Gabe appreciation we have here on tumblr.
Summary: Elena visits Gabe in his house for the first time and learns something new about his past.
Word count: 1937
AN: just some friendly fluff really, headcanon heavy, from Elena's POV but Gabe centric
"Oh, watch out, the first step is-" Gabe turned around just in time to catch Elena when she started to fall backwards. "-loose."
"Thanks for the warning." Elena shot him a glare when she regained her balance. In response Gabe only sent her an unapologetic grin and pulled her up on the next step.
"Everyone's so used to it by now that we keep forgetting to fix it with my dad," he explained as they finally reached the first floor.
The stairs led to a narrow corridor, with the same room placement as the bakery beneath it. Two doors on the right, one on the left and a wide opening to the living room at the end. In a few brisk steps Gabe opened the door on the left and invited Elena in with a courteous gesture.
"Welcome to my humble abode, your highness."
Her highness graced him with a nod and slipped by him, into the small room. Elena gave it a quick one over. It was indeed small - in fact, there probably wasn't much more space than what each guard got at the barracks - and the decor wasn't much fancier either. Cream colored walls, a thin bed by the window, a wardrobe opposite of it, one wall taken up by a bookshelf and a small cabinet by another made up basically all the furnishing of the room.
"Humble is a good word." She nodded solemnly, earning herself an eye roll from her friend. They both chuckled.
"Hey, it's your room that's out of the norm, you know?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Elena retorted, thinking about how three or even four such rooms would fit into hers. She walked over to the cabinet and picked up some trinket. "But it's nice to finally see where you grew up."
Gabe couldn't stop a fond smile sneaking onto his lips when he noticed the badge she was examining.
"Yeah and I didn't really get to change much here in the past five years. For example this thing I got back when-"
"Gabriel!" He was interrupted by his mother's voice from the bakery.
"I'll tell you in a moment," he sighed. "Make yourself at home!" He added from the doors and quickly ran downstairs to his parents.
Elena took another look around the room. It wasn't entirely empty, she had to admit that, and the poster of Antonio Agama on the inner side of the door confirmed that Gabe didn't change the decor much since he moved out.
She moved to the bookshelf and moved her hand across the titles - though there weren't that many of them to count. The lower shelves were taken up by some boxes and bags and what could've been a neatly packaged tent. Then finally a whole shelf dedicated to the whole collection of Antonio Agama's books. Elena chuckled to herself when she read some of the more dramatic titles and noticed even one that wasn't in Avaloran. On the next shelf, between other various travel books and biographies, was only one book by señor Agama, titled simply 'The Gecko's Tale'. Driven by a hunch she took it out and couldn't help but laugh when she read the blurb on the back. Although that explained how the whole kingdom found out that she's a bit adventurous too.
Finally her gaze got to the plant on top of the mantle. Hidden so deep in the room, it extended its ivy like stalks towards the sun, climbing a string helpfully hung between the bookshelf and the window.
Down on the windowsill two other plants looked out on the little cobbled square behind the house. Elena leaned in to smell the orchid and noticed something half hidden behind the pot. Slowly, so as not to accidentally damage the plant, she reached for trinket and retrieved it into the light. It turned out to be a wooden doll, painted to resemble a familiar navy and maroon uniform...
"Is this you?" She turned to Gabe as soon as he entered the room and showed him the figurine with a wide smile.
Gabe stopped for a moment. Furrowed his brows as he tried to see what Elena was even holding, and then furrowed his brows even more when he recognised it.
"Of course not," he grumbled, closing the small distance between them. "It's just an old thing anyway."
"It does look a bit like you though." She jumped away from him at the last moment.
Gabe gasped. Elen giggled and moved her hand away when he tried to reach her.
"Why would I even have a figurine of myself?"
For a moment they circled each other, like two lions judging if it's worthy to fight the opponent for a steak, except the steak was now wooden and 15 centimetres high. They both hunched subconsciously and made their steps in the fencing manner.
"I don't know, why does Esteban have a whole wall of his own portraits?" A sly grin slid on her face. "But I see you've decided to match his collection."
"Oh now you've done it." Gabe shook his head to hide his smile and in the split of a second was right by her. Feigning to go right for the prize, he swiped her legs out from under her.
Elena waved her hands in the air giving Gabe just the opportunity he was waiting for. He swiftly yanked the figurine from her hands, giving her the last push to fall backwards completely. He turned his head with a victorious grin, just in time to see her legs rising at the height of his knees. And suddenly the ground was much closer than before.
He folded his arms to his chest, protecting the figurine with his body and rolled on the floor. Though he didn't have to roll far, of which he was promptly reminded by his head crushing into the cupboard.
He groaned loudly and let his body fall limply to the floor.
His pained complaint was answered by Elena's laughter from the bed.
"I'm getting too old for this," he mumbled and Elena's laughter only got louder.
Finally he sat up and lifted the figurine to his face. He carefully examined it for any cracks or splinters, checked if the joints in the limbs didn't fall out and most importantly if the head was still on firm. Finally when he made sure the trinket didn't get damaged, he let out a relieved sigh.
"You're lucky it's still whole," he grumbled, rising to his feet.
"Hey, I was being careful." Elena now sat up too and sent him a playful smirk. "All the way until you decided to trip me like that."
Gabe rolled his eyes again and huffed in pretended annoyance.
"So if it's not a limited edition General Nuñez action figure," Elena continued. "What is it?"
Gabe sat down next to her and thought of an answer for a moment. He changed the position of the little soldier's arms and reached for a pin to put into his hand as a sword.
"It's really just an old toy," he said finally. "But you know, it has sentimental value."
He finally passed Elena the figurine, so she could take a look at it herself. It wasn't as old as she thought at first. The paint was faded, but still held onto the uneven surface of the wood and as she moved her fingers across it, she realized that it must've been all whittled by hand, by someone who put great care in it, but wasn't a professional.
Still the amount of details was impressive, especially in the construction of the thing. She moved the tiny soldier into the proper fencing position and to her delight found out that it fits flawlessly, the wire on the joints creaked quietly, as if it had been waiting for an opportunity to shine for ages.
She glanced between the figurine and Gabe on her left for comparison. The uniform, despite the familiar colours, was a tad different, it resembles more what she remembered from her childhood, than the uniform Gabe was wearing at the moment.
"I got it from my first fencing teacher," he continued.
"The same one who threw coconuts at you driving training?" Elena raised a brow, earning herself a chuckle.
"Yeah, the same one." A sad smile reached the corners of his eyes as old memories resurfaced in his memory. "He was a tough man and always talked about how big an annoyance I am, but -" he gestured to the figurine and shrugged.
"Well, that explains why it looks like you," Elena bumped him with her shoulder. "I'm sure he could've already seen that you'll be a great guard."
"Oh, I don't think he even wanted me to be a guard," Gabe laughed again. "But you know, the situation was a bit different." He pondered something for a moment before continuing. "And to be fair, I didn't even realize that it was supposed to be a guard at the time, I was pretty sure he just came up with the design by himself. I only really connected the dots a few years ago, when I found this old thing again."
Elena nodded silently and put a comforting hand on his arm. She could see that this topic wasn't easy for him.
"Though maybe what you said was the point." He straightened suddenly and his gaze went back to the figurine. "Maybe he wasn't completely against me joining the guard, just... joining the right one."
His smile became wider and it was like his whole face lit up. Elena raised the little soldier's arms to make it cheer. They both laughed at how expressive this piece of wood was.
"So where is your coach now?" Elena asked, caressing the wooden toy one more time.
He only sighed at first and for a moment his gaze became clouded again, before he shook his head to cast the memories away.
"I wish I knew," he sent her a sad smile. "One day he just... disappeared. A few trinkets and one letter is all the proof I have that he wasn't just my hallucination."
Elena's lips twitched in a matching sad smile, but before she could say anything, they both heard a voice from downstairs, calling the unmistakable word 'dinner!'
Gabe clapped his hands on his knees and sprung up to his feet.
"Ah, just in time", he extended his hand to Elena. "I think eating is a much more fun topic than discussing the weird things I did in my childhood."
Elena examined his face for a moment more, but gave up on asking all the questions that pushed to the tip of her tongue. She sent him a smile instead and accepted his hand.
"Oh, you mean you did more weird things?" She made the little figurine gasp.
"I feel like I shouldn't have started this topic," Gabe laughed.
"Oh no, you won't escape now." She poked him in the chest and put the little soldier in his hand. "I gotta know all the crazy stories."
"Okay, okay, I'll tell you something," Gabe raised his hands in defeat. "But you can't mention it to my parents, please, they'll never stop until they tell you my whole life story."
Elena made a theatrical gesture of tapping her lips in thought as she backed out of the room.
"I'll consider it," she sent him a wide grin and in a second turned and ran towards the stairs.
"Hey- wait!" Gabe called out, running right after her to save what was left of his reputation.

Every so often I dip into transformers fanfic (specifically bayverse) just because the concept of giant shape-shifting mechanical immortal robots just slaps so hard. All of the fics get so close but never quite scratch the itch I want, so here.

Cybertronian Sam Witwicky, vessel of the Allspark
A seeker, naturally, but I haven't decided on alts yet. Or a name (I like Rubicon, because of the doorway/point of no return/on a knifes edge between two worlds meaning and.. Also because the Allspark kinda looks like a rubics cube lmao)(but it doesn't sound quite right and I'd like to lean more into the idea of sacrifice maybe?)(or maybe something celestial or mythical for the space/alien/spark=stars metaphor... Apollo?).
I haven't seen it done, but I really like the idea of the Allspark using its own material to create the cybertronian body, given the total lack of actual resources it has (and needs). This would give Sam a very unique bronze/gold protoform instead of the usual grey/black metal, and eyes/optics the colour of sparks. The feather horn things were meant to be a lot smaller, but that was the smallest they got! And idk, I've grown to like them. A little nod to his organic origins. And the circles are supposed to be extra eyes. The boots I was delighted to find, they blend so well with the body and make it look like he's not bare lol. Because hero forge isn't quite that free with design (yet), please imagine a couple wheels by his ankles he can drop down to rollerblade on.
I had a ton of fun with the colours, I think it's my best one from scratch yet! It was so hard to keep from adding too much detail or clothing, and I did struggle with the sheer bulk of a typical cybertronian build. The pauldrons and scarf help with that, but he's intended to be pretty slight compared to the average anyway. In every continuity they're so, so bulky ToT. I might tinker with the proportions now I've finished the model! The spear... Well I'm a sucker for staffs, but it's not a cybertronian weapon unless it can slice or shoot something, preferably while transforming into something else. This one is also a laser gun, very energy intensive if you're not hooked into an infinite power source lmao. He's got a few emergency cannons in his arms, because... Why not?
Man, now I've made him, I want to write something for him so much... Must resist, must resist...

I am painfully unmotivated and can't seem to get out of this creative funk. Soooo... since I can't be bothered to draw any of my own actual characters, I figure I can throw these dooders around and see if that'll help. That's where y'all come in. >v>
Please feel free to send asks/questions or prompts for some silly doodles I can do with these two! SFW, thanks LMAO. Here's their original reference with tidbits of how I portray them in my HC. They can involve other characters too! Just as long as one of these guys are around. xD No pressure/gen, but if I can at least do a few of these I'd be happy to maybe open up regular Kirby OC requests later down the line. I've been itching to draw some of y'all's characters for a while now and I think that'd be really fun as well. :^)

Maybe things have changed since I last checked the Pokemon YouTuber landscape but. why did no one talk about the queercoding in Journeys past episode 3. I think I saw a few reactions to later episodes where people were like "ha that's kinda gay" but that was it
Like, I genuinely can't figure out why there aren't video essays being made about this, either to complain about it being gay (or romantic at all) or to advocate for it potentially becoming canon. Pokemon is like, one of the biggest anime series ever, you'd think implying a gay romance with its main character would turn a few heads but there's just. nothing?? Somehow???
There's... there's no way it's actually subtle enough to go over the heads of this many people on YouTube, right?? Sure their dynamic is primarily platonic in nature, but then you've got the scene where they hold hands for no less than thirty seconds and they specifically note that Gou is embarrassed about it, which is like. a classic trope
Not to mention Gou saying "that's so you" in a fond voice about Ash before asserting that he totally doesn't want help him out or anything like every tsundere character with a crush ever, or the way both Kiawe and Gary feel the need to test Gou to make sure he's a good "fit" for Ash, or the way that Ash is way more physically affectionate with Gou than any other previous companion, or the freakin spin hug--
THEY'RE EVEN ROOMMATES LIKE C'MON
I don't think I've ever seen a show this popular with this much queercoding in it have that aspect be almost completely absent from video discussions before, it'd be impressive if it wasn't so frustrating
The only explanations I can think of for why this is the case are:
Everyone who could be making videos about it are extremely tone deaf to queercoding
They're so confident in the idea that Pokemon would definitely never do anything gay that they brush it off completely
They want to associate with Gou as little as possible because he has a surprising amount of haters
Related: they're too busy being mad about Ash not catching Grookey or something similar to care about the interpersonal relationships happening in the show
All of which, kind of drive me insane I won't lie
I can see it now: Ash and Gou get together, YouTube explodes with videos claiming that this was totally out of left field, or maybe some will admit that Gou showed signs but adamantly refuse that Ash is even romantic enough to BE gay, or (more likely) saying he should've been with a different girl instead
And everyone else who was picking up on this since episodes 2 or 3 will be like "WE TRIED TO TELL YOU BUT YOU WOULDN'T LISTEN"
A scenario which would be as annoying as it is gratifying, I assume, but like. why would that be a more likely scenario than literally anyone making a video essay about it on YouTube beforehand. What is happening

He wonders if, had he had a taste of friendship with all those things before returning to his reality, if he would feel quieter, and lonelier, and more sad, now that he wasn’t friends with them.
The answer is probably yes.
Wilbur tries not to think about this very often; it just makes him hungry for all the things he’ll never have. An insatiable hunger.
Wilbur wonders if Phil ever feels like this.
~~~
Finally, Wilbur settles on something, because he taps the screen once before lowering his hands, keeping hold of the phone and letting a song play from it.
Guitar. That’s what starts this song off.
Tommy tilts his head. He’s never heard this before. It’s a new song to him.
But it’s… pretty. As far as the first bit goes, at least; all gentle guitar and soft singing, all that. It sounds like something Ghostbur would like.
And then the chorus comes around, and Tommy’s eyes widen a little bit as the lyrics hit his ears.
“Jesus, my heart, your home. Jesus.”
Tommy flicks his gaze to Wilbur, inquisitive.
Wilbur gazes back, even and calm.
The song continues playing, and after a few seconds, Tommy turns his attention back to it. He’s paying more attention to the lyrics now.
“I will sing for you, all my days. Always quick to give you praise. When I was in sin, you saved my soul. No greater love will I ever know.”
“Do you go to church?” Tommy asks, because he couldn’t keep the question inside his chest any longer.
“No,” Wilbur answers, quick but sure. “Not really, no. I don’t even believe in most of the things this song talks about.”
“Oh. Then…” Tommy furrows his brow. “Then why do you listen to it?”
The song turns loud, strong guitar strums and almost yell-y singing, and Wilbur turns thoughtful, tilting his head ever so slightly as he looks off into the distance.
For a moment, he doesn’t say anything.
The song keeps playing.
~~~
“You tried to revive Wilbur,” Ghostbur said, hoping that the king would understand what so few seemed to. “You tried to kill me."
~~~
Wilbur hums, and with a quick prayer to whoever is listening, Niki starts to drive.
~~~
Ranboo’s heart drops. Oh no.
“Hey, hey, um… W-Wilbur? What… what uh, what’s wrong?” Ranboo hurriedly kneels down, as close to Wilbur as he dares.
~~~
(Another one for heart because I wanted to share :)
No. Everything is warm and hazy, drifting in and out of focus with each beat of his heart—a heart which, as far as Wilbur can tell, is slow, lazy, irregular. Irregular. A wobbling spotlight that shines in the wrong places, doesn’t follow the cues.
~~~
“Hello!”
Wilbur blinks, peering up from his phone to see Ghostbur walking into the kitchen, blinking the sleepiness from his eyes. “Hey. I got, um…” He gestures vaguely to the island. “McDonald’s.”
“McDonald’s,” Ghostbur repeats, sounding inquisitive and amazed at the same time.
Wilbur blinks.
Ghostbur comes to a stop in front of the island, looking around at the paper bags filled with breakfast food. He blinks hard, as if trying to will away any leftover wisps of unconsciousness. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had McDonald’s.”
~~~
“You can sleep after this,” Tommy assures, hovering in case the cup spills from Ghostbur’s hands. “Just- make sure you drink enough, y’know. I don’t want you getting diehydrated or anything.”
Ghostbur doesn’t smile at Tommy’s joke, and Tommy suddenly feels lonely. Which is weird, because Ghostbur is right here. He’s not lonely.
His heart just gave a proper pang though, didn’t it?
“You’re not ever yourself after doctor visits,” Tommy says softly, watching as Ghostbur sips at the straw with nearly-closed eyes.
~~~
(Couldn’t find one for gentleness so I went with gentle instead!)
He hopes that his voice sounds gentle. He wonders if it’s possible to bend his voice in such a way that sounds gentle.
~~~
When they get inside, the song isn’t finished, so they stay in the living room and Ghostbur sways the both of them back and forth, back and forth, all the way until they finish na-na-na-na-ing. It doesn’t matter that they can’t see very well, with all the lights off; they know they’re both here. They can hear each other. Tommy can feel the soft wool of Ghostbur’s sweater sleeves.
They finish the last lyric, and for a few seconds, the whole house is quiet.
Ghostbur leans forward, pressing a kiss onto Tommy’s head. Tommy blinks as he pulls back.
Ghostbur smiles. “I think of you whenever I hear that song."
Tommy doesn’t know what to say to that, so he doesn’t say anything.
As they both lay in bed, facing each other, Tommy moves a little closer than usual. Ghostbur keeps his eyes closed, but he rubs his thumb along Tommy’s arm until they both fall asleep, and that makes Tommy feel better.
When Tommy wakes up, the first thing he does is check to make sure Ghostbur’s still here. He is.
Ghostbur’s thumb is still resting against Tommy’s arm.
Tommy moves a little bit closer, and he falls back asleep.
~~~
“You could’ve been trying to pull a prank on me, or a joke.”
Wilbur’s heart twinges, just a bit. “I wouldn’t do that.”
Ghostbur says nothing.
“I’ll help you, alright?” Wilbur takes a step closer, water sloshing up his legs. “I’ll make sure nothing… bad happens, or anything.”
Ghostbur finally looks up, meeting Wilbur’s eyes. He looks skeptical.
Wilbur raises his brows. “Promise. Y’know, we’ll be like… we’ll be like brothers, right? This is the sort of thing brothers do!”
Ghostbur tilts his head thoughtfully. “Perhaps.”
“Look, I don’t wanna stay out here all day, man. Just try it. Look, you suck in a breath and hold it, so your body stays buoyant. See?” Wilbur breathes in to demonstrate, but Ghostbur wrinkles his nose.
“I know how to hold my breath.”
“Then do it, man! Come on!” Wilbur gestures at the water, grinning. “I’ll make sure you don’t sink. I’ll grab you if things go south, alright?”
Ghostbur looks at the water again, nodding after a few moments. “Okay.”
“It’s just fl-“ Wilbur cuts himself off, eyes widening with surprise as Ghostbur lowers himself down and takes a deep breath, shutting his eyes.
And Ghostbur freaking floats. He lays there in the water with his eyes shut and his freaking shirt on and he floats. He barely even moves, actually; just floats there, like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
For a minute, he stays like that, and for a minute, Wilbur stares, not quite sure how to react to this.
I didn’t know he was going to do it that quickly.
After a minute, Ghostbur blinks his eyes open, quickly widening them as he tries to right himself.
“You’re fine,” Wilbur assures, stepping forward and letting Ghostbur cling to his arm and get pulled up. “See? Right here, just like I said.”
Ghostbur says absolutely nothing, squeezing Wilbur’s arm with both hands and breathing hard. His hair sticks to his forehead in a dark mess.
Wilbur realizes that his own hair probably looks the same.
“You did it, man.” Wilbur laughs, because there’s really nothing else to do. “You floated! Y’know? And I didn’t even have to do anything! Man, are you sure you don’t know how to swim? I’m being serious. Because that was fantastic, right there.”
Ghostbur stares at his hands, wrapped around Wilbur’s arm, and then he slowly brings his gaze upward, until they meet his brother’s. His eyes are wide. “That water is cold!”
Wilbur laughs again, louder. His feet nearly trip over themselves, but he manages to stay upright and not fall into the river. “Yeah, I suppose it is.”
“And… I floated.”
Wilbur smiles. “I suppose you did.”
“Oh.” Ghostbur glances at the water again, eyes dancing. He looks back to his hands, holding onto Wilbur, and blinks. He pulls his hands away. “I think I hurt you.”
Wilbur looks down, noticing how his skin is white where Ghostbur had held onto it. “Nah, I’m fine.”
“That might bruise.”
“It won’t.”
“I was just a little nervous.”
“I know. But you floated anyway.” Wilbur raises his brows. “Yeah?”
Ghostbur looses a breath through his mouth, nodding. “Yeah. I did, I did.”
Then he brightens. “Oh. I really did, didn’t I?”
“Heck yeah, man.”
“Oh.” Ghostbur slowly runs his fingers through the river, creating small waves. He smiles—a flickering sort of thing. “I did. I did.”
Wilbur grins. His arm probably will bruise—Ghostbur has a hard grip, man—but he can’t bring himself to care. He doesn’t care.
There’s birds chirping everywhere.
~~~
He glances at the window, watching orange light bleed through the closed blinds. Is it too early? He planned to do it tonight, after the sun set and the world grew cold.
But there’s nothing else to do.
Wilbur huffs a laugh that sounds more like a sickness. Might as well. The timing won’t change anything; it’s inevitable either way.
He grunts as he rises to his feet, wandering towards his dresser. The slivers of sunlight that worm their way between the blinds cast lines on the wall. Wilbur blocks them with his shadow.
~~~
“But,” Tommy continues, dipping a fry into some ketchup. “This makes it better.”
“What does?”
“Food. Five Guys. Even you.” He holds up the ketchup-dipped fry, waving it about with a glint in his eye. “I love salt!”
Wilbur huffs a smile, gazing at the table.
~~~
(Another one for love just because)
Ghostbur smiles, huffing quietly to himself. Tommy is very funny. He does such strange things. Ghostbur loves him more than he loves anything else.
~~~
(Annnnd another one)
Niki shakes her head. “My bakery is gone.”
“Wh… gone?”
“I burned it.”
He stops walking, and some of the leaves go quiet.
Niki walks ahead of him. After a second or two, she hears leaves again.
“Oh. Okay!” He comes up alongside her, and he’s taller than her, because he’s always been taller than her. “That seems like a strange thing to do to something you love. Why did you burn it?”
