Oil and Water (ao3) - dafeedil michael/calum E, 25k
Summary: Calum’s heart sinks a little bit, and he's not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because he's allowed himself to fall victim to Michael's seduction yet again, or maybe it's because he's disappointed in himself for being so willing to try something that could so easily be dangerous. Or maybe, the most likely of all, it's because he can hear Mali's voice in his head telling him how stupid he's been to have found himself—quite literally—backed against the wall like this, with a boy he barely knows whispering dirty promises into his ear when he doesn't even know the first thing about real relationships.
Or, Calum spends a night with the boy that smells like smoke, and as it always is with bad addictions, he keeps getting sucked right back in.

"Now."

Windows to the Soul (ao3) - ashtonism luke/ashton, michael/ashton N/R, 7k (WIP)
Summary: Peeks from over books, timid glances around the corners, slow walks to class. He'd do anything to catch a glimpse at the boy who hide behind sunglasses and dark clothing. Michael gives him a dorky little smile-and-wave combo which looks so out of place, considering Michael looks like some 70’s punk band spat him out. Eyebrow piercing and all."
Luke and Michael meet at Ashton's band's show.

Riverparents and their stance on artificial Christmas trees
CORRECT ME IF I GET ANYONE WRONG!
Fred: i think is the only one who INSISTS on a real christmas tree and refuses to even look at anything artificial he will take a falling down crumbling charlie brown tree before that ❤️ it is a metaphor for him fixing broken things
FP: is not immune to the rustic charm of venturing out into the snow to cut down a real tree with fred driving them both in his truck and the radio playing rock christmas hits and both of them happy and best friends remembering when artie andrews would take him out along with the family to do just that as a little kid.... But then will never remember to water it and wont really notice an artifical one
Hiram: great big shiny aluminum christmas tree or BUST
Mary and Sierra: artificial all the way, less mess, more practical, safer, etc
Hermione: doesnt matter as long as it has spiffanys decorations 😊
Penelope: likes the smell of real trees but does NOT like that they're a fire hazard
Alice:??? Im unsure... I feel like shes a stickler for a real tree but also that whatevers most practical is high on her list
Hal: has to have a real tree cuz he cant let fred win christmas....
Gladys and Tom: doesn't weigh in on the debate, just likes the smell of real trees but concedes it can be achieved with an air freshener
Clifford: probably likes real trees with all the sap dripping everywhere 😕

Tell me about the symptoms of ptsd that fp shows
wish i had the gifset i was looking at earlier that brought all this up lmao but anyway google is free SO
agitation, irritability, hostility, self destructive behavior.... self explanatory we have visual canon proof of all those things. self isolation... like sending your son to go live with your best friend bc you dont think youre good enough to raise him (which to be fair he is not but also his sons shitty so idk whos winning that battle for rightness but whatever) ALSO im willing to bet if we saw the actual downfall of his and gladys’ marriage we wouldve seen his attempts at pushing her away much like how he was with fred in 107 at the jailhouse (not saying hed be physical with her but like... idk the mind wanders sometimes i cannot lie but mentally hed be in the same space) ALSO theres the alleged matter of the flashback where we see fp (along with everyone else but sh we’re focusing on fp right now) isolating himself from the group which i mean really him cutting ties with everyone who is not fred makes sense cuz they werent friends to begin with but (and idc what r*s wanted us to believe) he and fred were absolutely friends prior so THAT particular relationship is what needs to be focused on because fp pushing himself away from fred actually means something in this context.
emotional detachment is another could-be symptom... as i have also discussed via is reactions to freds death + his alcoholism which always either goes one of two ways: we see him drinking to numb the emotions or we see the drinking enhancing them (and of course all this ties back into self destructive behavior)
now for this part... i want to make it VERY clear that i absolutely do not condone riverdales writing.... i think we’re all aware of that here but lest this post get in the hands of outsiders lmao... just wanna make it clear. and they absolutely are not thinking this deeply... about anything.... but especially about fp... but like if i were the one taking charge of this storyline with whats already been written... this is how i would explain things:
so lost of interest or pleasure in activities can also be a symptom of ptsd and at first i was like eh i dont know if i really see anything in canon that backs this up BUT then i remembered fps constant flip flopping about the serpents and how he was all set up to have this cushy life on the north side only to later go back to the serpents (i guess? i still dont know whats hes doing) and particularly that stupid ass scene with archie at pops talking about how he missed ... street fighting... i guess.... anyway i say all this to say that it doesnt directly fit into “loss of interests” but i think its worth noting how he never seems to be satisfied (which... i know is 100% just inconsistent writing. i get that yes we know but i also think theres some truth to be dug out from that bc uhhhh i can do whatever i want thank you) but once again this also ties back into self destructive behavior because of course fp cannot just leave things alone when hes got it good he has this raging boner to fuck everything up at all times
ALSOOOOOO
why was it so easy for clifford to get fp on board with dumping jasons body ??? jughead wasnt threatened until fp was already arrested like WHAT fucking hold did clifford have over him ?? other than the fact that he was a man with much more power than fp and im not saying that couldve possibly triggered some twisted need to go along with him to like... appease him but... i dont know. im not a psychiatrist. (also again i know lazy writing but shhhh im on a roll)
heightened reactions... his fucking temper tantrums and outbursts... yea so theres that
fear/severe anxiety all i can think about is how in 302 when they were all confronted about g&g he had such an intense look on his face compared to everyone else WHICH I STILL WANT ANSWERS FOR but also i just gave myself one. youre welcome me (also ties in to heightened reactions)
did i mention depression? that bitch is clearly depressed and anyone who says he isnt is a liar or has never seen a depressed person
OH AND WE CAN ALSO TALK ABOUT THE SCENE WHERE HE ACTUALLY TELLS JUGHEAD WHAT AN ABUSIVE PRICK SENIOR WAS AND HOW HE LOOKED STILL VISIBLY SHAKEN WHILST THINKING BACK ON THAT TIME
insomnia/nightmares are also symptoms and while we have no canon proof he suffers either of those.... has that man ever looked well rested in his life? no. i rest my case.

ER: Room 6; Calum Hood/Michael Clifford (?) Pt. 1
description: in which you’re on the night shift, covering for a nurse in the ER, when a patient and his band is admitted into your room.
a/n: this is the intro to a new series! Should your love interest be Cal or Mike? Let me know!
Tumblr media
The computer chair emitted annoyingly consistive squeaks, the gears grinding as you rocked back and forth. The squeaking was accompanied by the clicking of the mouse as you dragged cards across the computer screen. You gnawed on your bottom lip, pupils dilated from the bright light of the computer screen. It was a relatively quiet night in the ICU, only half a dozen or so of patients sleeping soundly across the third floor. You were wrapped up in a too-large zip-up jacket, the hospital-provided blue scrubs not-so flattering on your figure. A patient had vomited on you earlier, then you vomited on yourself while running for the bathroom. It had only been halfway through your 24-hour shift, and you couldn’t go all the way across the city for a new set of scrubs.
Oh, and, the only available size for the scrubs was a men’s large. The strings were tied as tight as possible, pant legs rolled up. With this outfit and the amount of fly-always surrounding your face, you looked like a hot mess. You were covering for a friend who was sick, and your 12 hour shift turned into this 24 hour one. It was hour 8, and you were becoming increasingly bored. You and two other nurses were working the night shift, along with 2 doctors who circulated between here and the ER. All had been calm, though.
You continued to play solitaire, occasionally sipping at your hot tea, chowing down a granola bar. But, with the ding of the elevator, your boss and chief resident of the hospital, Dr. Greene, stepped out into the dimly lit reception area. You quickly stood, shrugging the jacket up around your shoulders better. You looped the abandoned stethoscope around your neck, grabbed two charts, and stuck a pen behind your ear.
“Evening, Y/N,” he stopped at the counter, heels of hands holding him into it.
You acted surprised, pushing your loose hair from your face. “Oh, hey, Dr. Greene. I was just about to do rounds.“
“Are you busy then? Could you get Nina to do that?” He gestured to your companion who was snoozing away with her head in her hands on the other side of the round desk area.
“I could, but may I ask why?” You politely responded, all too hopeful that he didn’t need you in the ER, but-
“Nurse Hathaway went home sick. Throwing up everywhere.” The corner of his lip tugged down in a disgusted-like expression. “Could you come help out a little?”
“Uh, yeah, sure, let me just-“
I threw up and didn’t go home sick, you thought, shaking awake Nina, informing her of the change, and collecting your things from the desk. Dr. Greene didn’t wait for you, already loading himself into the elevator and riding down to the ER. You took that opportunity to slip from the moccasins youd had on your feet. You tugged on tennis shoes and quickly punched a finger into the elevator que.
Moments later, you were pushing through the chaos of patients and stepping into the break room. You greeted the soap opera on the tv, the empty Chinese food cartons on the coffee table, and the sleeping doctor face down on the couch. Quietly, you set your bag on the chair beside him and left the room. You approached the counter, kneading your hands together. The ER made you nervous, which is why you chose to work in the ICU, but you had interned down here for a year.
It was loud, machines beeping, sometimes people screaming or crying. Because it was one of the five hospitals in LA, it was often busy with junkies or gangsters. You’d been caught by a gun on the back of your hip once, threatened to be stabbed, but overall rescued by the security around every corner. It was horrible.
You rapped a knuckle on the counter, tucking more loose hair behind your ears and carefully spinning the rings in them as you said, “What’s up, Frankie? Got anything for me?”
“Oh, Nurse Y/L/N, what’re you doing here?” Frankie, the receptionist, spun around in her chair. She chewed loudly on some bubblegum, spinning a pen in her hand.
“I’m Hathaway’s replacement. Got anything?” You repeated.
“Yeah, you can take over rooms 5-8. They’re empty, but there’s some people out in the waiting area. Not too much, its pretty slow except for the two trauma rooms being busy.” Frankie pointed off in each direction as she spoke.
You nodded, pushing yourself off the counter. You picked up a clipboard, took the pen from behind your ear, and hit the door to the waiting area open with your hip. Your eyes took in the four people waiting to be admitted, all tagged along with by one person or, in the sickest looking man’s position, three. You noticed the worried looks on their faces, the pale and clammy skin of the hunched over one, and immediately stepped towards them.
“Hi, I’m Nurse Y/L/N. I’m gonna be taking care of you today. If you follow me I’m gonna get you a room, okay?” You crouched down to be at eye level with the sick boy, whose blond hair made him look even lighter. He weakly nodded and you stood at the same time the dark-haired one did. “Can he walk?”
The question was answered when he stood and nearly fell on top of you. His arms slung around your shoulders and you caught myself on your heels. The three others grabbed him, pulling him off of you.
“Let me grab a wheelchair,” you walked to the corner of the room where a rack of wheelchairs were. You popped one open and helped situate the boy into it. You gestured for the others to follow, the dark haired one falling in step with you.
He was flustered, hair shaggy with worried hands shoved into his hoodie pockets. “He’s been sick for a few days, but it got really bad last night. Said his chest was hurting and he was really short of breath. He doesnt have, like, heart or chest problems, so we got worried.”
You stopped outside of the room and he took it as his cue to open the door. He did, you thanked him, and stepped inside. Your lips cracked into a smile, “You should be worried even he did have chest and heart problems.”
The boy let out a shuddered laugh, skin sticky with sweat. “y-yeah.”
You shut the door and stepped up to the bed, “Can you help me get him up here?” They all did, hands shaky and faces weary. “Okay. Go ahead and take a seat. I have to do a physical evaluation before I get a doctor. I need to know what information to present a doctor with.”
“His names Michael, by the way,” the dark haired one added once they all nodded with approval to your plans. “I’m Calum. Hood, his last names Clifford.”
“You already did paperwork in the waiting area, right?” You carefully brushed Michaels hair from eyes, peeling them open to shine your flashlight in them. His eyes responded with dilation, a positive sign.
“No? No one really told us anything,” the tall blond responded.
You huffed, rolled your eyes, but tried not to look annoyed for your patient’s. “Okay, why dont one of you go to the front desk and ask for an information sheet. You’ll need to fill it out for him. i dont think he’s in any shape to hold a pen-“
You had been roaming your hands around his body, taking his blood pressure, peering at the back of his throat. Now, you were checking his pulse, and noticed that his fingernails were blue. You glanced back up at his lips, hearing the door open and close. The blond was gone, doing what you told him to. Michaels lips were blue.
You checked his blood pressure on the paper and frowned. It was normal, but you continued by taking his temperature. It was 104.2. You quickly unwrapped the stethoscope from your neck and lifted his shirt. He shuddered at your cold fingertips, causing a wave of shivers to wrack his body.
“Sorry, sh, its okay,” you cooed, hearing your voice drowned out by the quickness of his heartbeat. Keeping yourself cool, calm, and collected, you took the buds from your ears and tucked it around your neck. “Okay, I am going to get a doctor.“
You slipped from the room before they could question your flushed face. Quickly, you turned the corner from your assigned rooms and walked towards the desk, where a white coat was signing papers.
“Dr. Greene?” You stopped before him, “I have possible pneumonia in 6. He’s struggling to breath and I’m worried he’ll go into respiratory distress if we dont get him hooked up.”
Greene choked on his coffee and tore the clipboard from your hands. “Alright, lets get going.”
You took twice as many strides, shorter than the doctor who didn’t wait for you. The two of you calmed your exposures outside the room, not wanting to scare the boys inside. The blond was back with his own clipboard, scribbling and murmuring with the other two.
They nudged each other to pay attention when Dr. Greene arrived. You smiled politely at them, moving to stand across from Dr. Greene. “Michael Clifford, fingernails and lips are blue, coughing like crazy but no signs of blood. Chills, temperature of 104.5, blood pressure is 160 over 120, heartbeat is quick, but I didn’t have time to check because I came for you.”
Dr. Greene reached for the blood pressure equipment and took it again, eyes widening when he showed you the 100/120. “Okay, lets get him IVed, put a nasal cannula for oxygenation, order some blood tests, a chest x-ray, pulse oximetry, and a sputum test. Let me know what you happens and I will be back to help evaluate further instructions.”
“Okay, thank you,” you got to work, quickly wrapping a band around the left arm of your patient. This one was blank of tattoos, but still pretty thick with muscle. You couldn’t deny he was a handsome man, despite the blue lips, pale skin, and sweaty exterior.
You briefly heard Dr.Greene informing Michael’s friends of what was happening when the patient himself mumbled something. You quirked a brow, hummed, and leaned closer as you began to set up the nasal cannula. “What’s happening?”
“Hi, Michael,” you spoke gently, “my name is Nurse Y/N. Your friends brought you in because they were worried about you. Turns out, they were right to be. Your BP dropped to 100/120, your skin is blueing, your heartbeats rapid, inhale is clouded, and temperature is 104.5.”
“They actually care about me?” He weakly chortled, immediately coughing into his hands afterwards. You didn’t fault to notice the blood and carefully helped him settle back into the pillows.
“Hey, here,” you grabbed a cloth, wetted it under the sink, and carefully blotted at his hands, his lips.
He briefly smiled at you, eyes barely cracked open. “Youre really pretty.”
You blushed, scrunching up your nose as you set up fluids to run through his system. He was dehydrated, and you didn’t need a doctor to tell you that. “Thanks, Michael.”
You turned to leave, nodding at the boys as you passed. You found the telephone on the wall beside the room and dialed the memorized numbers. Soon, you were back in the room, pulling up the handles of Michael’s bed. You hooked his IV bag to the rod sticking up in the back, hung the clipboard by the front rung, and helped Calum push the bed through the door.
The two of you loaded the elevator, your eyes focused on the fluttering lashes on the sleep patient sleeping soundly below you. Calum was staring at the floor, eyes glassy with worry.
“Hes going to be okay, Calum. Worst case scenario, he ends up in the ICU for 4-6 days and Ill be watching him.” You giggled, smiling wider when Calum chortled.
“I thought you worked down here?” He twisted his hands on the handles, eyes fluttering around the elevator. Suddenly, it ringed and the doors opened.
You pushed along behind him, instructing him on which door to enter. “I was just covering for someone. I’m usually stationed in the ICU.”
“Oh,” Calum responded. You told him to take a seat in the waiting area and checked in with the x-ray administrators.
When Michael was wheeled into the room and transferred to the x-ray cot, you turned to join Calum. You sat in the chair beside him, arms crossed.
“How old are you?” He turned to ask.
“Why?” You shook your head, an amused expression on your face.
“Well, if he’s gonna be in the ICU for 4-6 days, I’m going to be there, too. Might as well get to know you before I’m up your ass for the next week.”
You liked this guy, and this unworried side of him. You could tell his humor would have you bent at the waist, head thrown back in laughter. You lifted a brow, smirked, and said, “Bold of you to assume I’m not going to be up your ass.”
“Try me.”
A beat of silence passed, both of your eyes turned away from one another, “I’m 23.”
Calum tilted his head towards you and smiled, “23. Youre young.”
“graduated early, top of my class,” you shrugged your shoulders with pride on your chest.”What about you? What do you do for a living?”
“Well, I’m surprised you weren’t fangirling when I introduced myself.” Amused with your twisted face, he continued, “I’m in a band. 5 Seconds of Summer. I play bass.”
You suddenly noticed his accent, which seemed to be faded from years in the US, “That makes, strangely, lots of sense. I can see you playing bass.”
He had huge dimples which deepened. “Maybe you can actually see me someday.”
“Woah, Hood, lets get through this x-ray first.”

Hmmm you know I’m interested to see what chonis plot actually is. Riverdale is the only show I’ve watched where their ep descriptions and promos don’t actually tell you who necessarily has the a plot of the episode(and that’s every ep not just this one). I’m excited to see their dynamic actually shown to us more beyond a few seconds and what even the possible friction could be about since it actually will have relevance to the main story this season for once.
I’m excited and nervous, because I don’t trust these writers with Cheryl and all the nuance that should come with this story; they’re too inconsistent with her. Like I’ve said before, I don’t think how she acted in 3x09 was out of character, but it was a regression and it had basically no build up and it certainly showed no follow through - we didn’t get to see any of her motivations nor did we get to see her true feelings after the fact (since anyone that knows Cheryl knows that what she said to Jughead, in front of the whole gang, isn’t her true feelings); they just love to have Cheryl act out whenever it’s convenient, and ignore all the character development and growth they’ve given her.
Cheryl is unlikely to handle and react to her first fight with Toni in the way more people would, that much is a given, but that doesn’t have to mean she reacts irrationally or bitchy; I really don’t know if I trust the writers to write her sympathetically and actually acknowledge why she inevitably doesn’t react well, as opposed to just have her doing the most and come off unhinged, if that makes sense? Like, that’s what I’m really nervous about. I don’t think they’ll break up from it, I’m just worried about how they’ll handle it and how they’ll make Cheryl and their relationship look during it, because like I’ve said before, f/f ships and lesbian characters are always held up to a higher standard in fandom, and people have just been waiting for an excuse to hate on Cheryl and call Choni toxic, and they will do it over the littlest thing. So I need the writers to actually acknowledge and explore the effects of Penelope’s abuse and Clifford’s negligence have on her now, and how that’s harmed her ability to know how to be in a loving relationship and how to take criticism. Like, if they don’t have Cheryl think Toni is sick of her or she’s driven her away the first time Toni gets mad at her, then what are they even doing? You know Penelope’s constant abuse has had Cheryl waiting for it to happen, so I want them to explore that aspect with drama with them, not Cheryl being unhinged or bitchy. The dream would be for them to actually acknowledge and explore Cheryl’s mental illness ontop of that, but Riverdale would never, so I’ll aim lower.
All that being said, I had my speculations and I still do, but based on the promo - Toni sounding more scared than angry, Cheryl being more involved in the Kevin and Moose stuff than original thought - I can see it being about Toni being worried about Cheryl doing something dangerous and being impulsive. I think that’d be an interesting angle to take, as Cheryl has never had anyone to really worry about her before, and it could lead to Toni opening up about her losing people before, maybe? Her parents? And it could even tie into her stealing stuff. Though I feel like there was some drama or tension in 313 and 314 too, given how much Vanessa filmed with other people, and I don’t really see how that drama would stretch out into the next couple episodes so idk.

Two things
One. As someone who watched the Clifford the Big Red Dog cartoon as a kid. Seeing the new movie kinda makes me sad. The animation doesnt look all that good.
Two. The newer Sing movie looks kinda promising. I know how people feel about illumination but it does look less like a constant butt joke/ 'look how many songs can we put into a movie!' Sorta movie and more like an actual plot based one but who knows.

@forrestinthestars: have you guys ever seen mikey look softer?
okay, so, i have a bit of a secret i would like to share with you all. to both mikey’s fans, and to mine. like an actual plague, 3/4 of our bands are dating.
yep, you read that right, dating.
i took this photo of mikey when we were in new york for the weekend, a few weeks ago. i had a break home, and he had the weekend off. we went out up to my family’s lakehouse and spent a whole weekend together. no phones, no bands, no music, just one another. in a world like ours, its incredibly rare to find a connection with someone where you dont have to tag them in a meme, or blast on snapchat that youre in love.
again, you read that right, in love.
i, forrest evans, am in love with michael clifford.
you’re probably all as shook as mikey, trust me, i get it. i also understand if any of you are upset that i kept this secret for so long, seeing as i always share things with you. its part of what connects us, even the dark things like my eating disorders, or depression, i know you all understand and support me as much as i support you. so i hope you’re not incredibly upset that i kept mikey to myself for just a bit.
of course, im sure it will come as a shock, given my sweet boy hasn’t ever mentioned he was interested in men, but that is his story to tell, not mine. i would just like to let you all know, that i’m incredibly happy. more happy than i think i’ve ever been my whole life. i’ve always dreamed of being a rockstar, and once we got the record deal, and all of you, i thought it’d be happy, but something always felt like it was missing, but it doesn’t anymore. with michael, i truly, truly feel happy for the first time in my life.
i know it’s odd timing, given we’re both on tour in different parts of the world, but to be quite honest, i’m just missing this sweet, soft, man i’ve fallen so hard for, and i couldn’t wait to tell you all how happy i am. i truly owe it to each of you who bought an album, promoted us, and sold our tours out. if you hadn’t gotten us to where we are i never would’ve met this man. so thank you so very much.
as always, if you have anything negative to say, please keep it to yourself, but if you dont, just know im happy, incredibly and your opinion doesnt matter.
love alwyas,
forrest.

I needed to take a break from packing to write, personal stuff under the cut (warning super long post that probably doesnt make any sense)
It’s so difficult to have to leave someone, not because you don’t love each other anymore but because you are not strong enough to handle it anymore.
Jake and I met at what was rock bottom for both of us, we were both depressed and hospitalized and in a ton of pain, but we helped each other. I had just gotten out of an extremely toxic relationship and wasn’t looking to date anyone, but I have never fell so hard for another person in my life. Every feeling I had towards him was so strong and intense and though I’m young I can’t help but to think that maybe we were meant to be together. Every way I look at it, if either of us had done anything different within the 24 hours of us meeting then we would have never met. It was so nice to finally have someone who understood everything I was going through and my pain, though for the first few days I called him Clifford, because I couldn’t remember his name and he was tall and wearing a red shirt.
It’s been almost two years of ups and downs and on again off again dating but after every break after every separation no matter how long every emotion I ever felt would come flowing back as soon as I saw him or heard his voice. It’s so hard to leave someone when you personally believe that you were made for each other.
I don’t think he’s perfect. Far from really. He’s an alcoholic, which I knew going into this but I never realized how bad it was. When he drinks beer he’s mean, manipulative, cold and abusive. I can name several occasions where after drinking 3 40′s I had to wrestle with him just to try and keep him from going out and buying more, or at least running out the clock until the liquor store closed. I’m honestly surprised our neighbors never called the cops on us, after the bangs on the walls, the yelling, and the crying that came after.
But still I almost preferred him after beer than to him after vodka. When he drank Vodka I became terrified. He wouldn’t move. He couldn’t talk. I never knew if he was alive. He has countless scar on his face from falling down when trying to stand, I had to call into work countless times because I would be afraid he had a concussion after cutting his head on the fireplace. More often than not I’d have to let him sleep on the floor until he was sober enough to stand and walk to our room.
Some times he’d only drink for a day and be sober for a week, some times he’d be drunk for weeks and I’d forget why I loved him so much. Those weeks would make it easier to leave, I was miserable and couldn’t take it, I couldn’t look at pictures from before I took this chance on moving in without having a breakdown. My depression wasn’t cured before I moved in but I was a year in recovery and I was happy. Looking at myself now I felt worse than I was when I met him. The decision is always easy at that point, leaving was what I would have to do to save myself.
But then I’d get that day of him being sober, like yesterday. Some times on the day after a bender he would be writhing in pain and vomit would be everywhere, I’d take those days over him being drunk 100x over. But yesterday wasn’t like that, yesterday he was kind, he was quiet and he slept. He reminded me of the person I originally fell in love with, and I could never do anything to hurt that person. As we went to bed last night I cried, sobbed really, and he held me, because he knew that what i needed to do wasn’t easy for either of us.
Now I sit  here at a crossroads. Over half of my stuff is packed up and ready to leave tomorrow morning as planned. But I’m finding it so difficult, I don’t want to leave but I need to. This has been going on for the 6+ months that I’ve lived with him and I need to make this change but its so difficult. I don’t want to lose him, I want him to get better and its selfish of me to leave him to get better on his own. It’s selfish of me to want to leave and let him get better and then come back into his life when he’s better. I don’t  want to lose him but I can’t stay anymore.
I hate to say this but I think that’s why La La Land resonated so well with me. That scene at the end when Mia sees Sebastian after five years and everything that could have been flashes before her eyes and you can just feel how much her heart aches because now she has a family that she can’t leave, she has responsibilities but you can tell how much she loves him.
Basically this all sucks and I hate making life changing decisions.

OMG YALL there was just a bunch of fucking teaaaaaaa in front of meeeeee.... So my ex best friend katie and I are talking again and I believe I already ranted about my “friend” Hunter sexually assaulting me, and her. WELLL so a few days ago, Katie, and two other girl friends went prom dress shopping, and lemme tell yall katie looked FINEEE AS HELL MY GUY she was looking dope as shit, and so she took a few pictures to send to a few people and sadly I didnt get sent the picture so that was really triggering but ANYWAYS she sent it to a friend to sent it to hunter and he texts emma, (one of the girls that was buying dresses with katie) and says “oh my god she looks fat in that dress, you guys should tell her not to buy it. I dont know why you guys are even friends with her shes fat” BUT HE WEIGHS THE SAME AS CLIFFORD THE BIG RED FUCKING DOG SO SHUT THE FUCK UP RIGHT? ANYWAYYSS so then she was telling me that he also said that it was “HER FAULT” and that “SHE PUT HIS HAND ON HER TIT” LIKE???? NONONNONONONONO YOU ARE NOT ABOUT TO BLAME THE FUCKING VICTIM RN ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VICTIM IS NOT THE ONLY VICTIM! I swear to fucking god if he still thinks imma talk to him after this ?????? SO any wayss Shes telling me all of this, and meanwhile, Hunter walks up to emma, who’s locker is right across the hall from katies (where we were) and so emma (being the sly hoe she is) ((I LOVE HER FOR BEING SO SLICK) yeets over and whispers at katie to not talk too loud about him because he snuck up on her, to hear the tea. AND THIS GREAT BITCH (I LOVE HER TOOOO) FUCKING GOES “NAH IDC IDC IMMA TELL HIM TO HIS FACE! HUNTER WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? YOU THINK U CAN JUST TALK SHIT ABOUT ME TO MY BEST FRIENDS AND THEY WONT TELL ME? CALLING ME FAT? TELLING THEM I PUT YOUR HAND ON MY TIT? DONT YOU FUCKING DARE” and she went off, and I applauded from behind, and he went WHITE AS HELL/ then he goes. “you dont even know what youre talking about...” and WALKS AWAY??? but katie doesnt give up that easy, and she fucking YEETS HIM into oncoming walk-traffic, and he just walked away, yelling other stupid shit and she CHASES him. meanwhile I’m holding her binders at her locker, and trying to not laugh my ass off. She finally did it. she FINALLY stood up to him, and I think that honestly gave me the power to do so as well, so when he asks me why I’ve been so distant, THIS IS WHY>>> Anyway, so my mythologies of the world teacher came by and looks at me, and says “She’s got a huge grin on her face and he looks terrified” (obviously he knows katies temper and he knows nothing about the situation, otherwise he would’ve taken it veryyyyy seriously) and I was just like “well, he should be” and he just walked away... sooooo? where do I go from this??? I have like all my classes with him so after this it may be awkward, but it’ll be worth it...

Ramblings: Updates on Byfuglien, Jones, and Zuccarello; Kyrou and Fabbri; Muzzin Traded; Blue Line Production – January 29
Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice told reporters on Sunday that Dustin Byfuglien hasn’t resumed skating so to not expect him back this week. The Jets play their final road game of their broken-up trip on Tuesday night before returning home for three contests. We’ll know more this weekend.
*
Taylor Hall was not skating in the game-day skate with the Devils on Monday morning.
*
Don't forget to grab your copy of the 2019 Dobber Midseason Fantasy Hockey Guide!
*
Mats Zuccarello was not on the ice for the Rangers on Monday. They have him listed as day-to-day with a foot infection but isn’t expected to play Tuesday. He should be available later this week.
While I’m on the topic, the likely trade of Zuccarello is an interesting case of expectations. At present time, he has 24 points in 35 games but is playing on a very good top line and top PP unit for the Rangers, often cracking 20 minutes a night. Let’s say he gets traded to somewhere like Calgary or San Jose, where does he slot? Does he get 18 minutes a game? 17? 15? What about his power play ice time? It could be a case where, fantasy-wise, having him stay put might be the best thing for his fantasy owners. Be careful what you wish for.
*
Shayne Gostisbehere was a late scratch Monday night, taking warm-ups and then leaving. He has a lower-body injury but it's not expected to be severe. He could be back in a few days.
*
As mentioned before the break, the Sens are expecting Colin White back in the lineup this weekend.
*
On the topic of the trade deadline, it appears that the Flyers are prepared to trade just about anyone. There are a lot of very good pieces on this team so hopefully Fletcher doesn’t just blow it up.
*
The Lightning expect Tyler Johnson to suit up for the team on Wednesday, having missed the team’s game just before the All-Star break.
*
Seth Jones was not at Columbus practice on Monday but is expected to play Tuesday night. Just in case he’s not, Zach Werenski was on the top PP unit with Ryan Murray on the second unit.
*
We got a pretty significant trade during the games last night as defenceman Jake Muzzin was acquired by the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for prospects Carl Grundstrom and (unsigned) Sean Durzi, as well as Toronto’s first-round pick this season. It appears he’ll slot right alongside Morgan Rielly immediately.
You can read Dobber’s take on the trade here.
*
It was a beatdown in Pittsburgh as New Jersey came flying out of the break for a 6-3 win. The game wasn’t as close as even that score would indicate. Travis Zajac had a monster game with one goal and three assists. Blake Coleman chipped in a goal and an assist as well.
Zajac’s huge performance aside, Coleman is having a great season in leagues counting hits. He’s now up to 18 goals, 29 points, nearly three shots per game, and over 130 hits after posting seven in the victory over the Penguins. I wrote about him last offseason and why he was a gamble worth taking this year. All that was true then is still true now, just with a bigger sample to work with.
*
James van Riemsdyk continued his hot streak Monday night, scoring the insurance marker in Philadelphia’s 3-1 win over Winnipeg. That makes eight goals and 10 points in his last 10 games. Be careful though: he’s not shooting a lot just yet. He’s only had 20 shots on goal in those 10 games, shooting 40 percent in the meantime. This is a guy who’s averaged three shots on goal in multiple seasons, including just last year. It’s a tricky situation for fantasy owners.
Carter Hart made 31 saves in the win.
*
Let’s take a few minutes to review Jordan Kyrou.
Sunday night, Kyrou participated in the AHL All-Star skills competition, posting the third-fastest lap in the history of the fastest skater competition. I wasn’t watching, but I saw the tweets and that led me to this thought:
quick fantasy hockey tweet: Jordan Kyrou is the guy you should be fishing for in dynasty leagues as the trade deadline approaches.
— Michael Clifford (@SlimCliffy) January 28, 2019
As of right now, Kyrou is a point-per-game player in his rookie AHL season with 28 points as a 20-year old. What’s even more special about that is how bad the San Antonio Rampage are: he leads the team in points despite playing 15+ fewer games than much of the roster, and the team being the sixth-lowest scoring team in the league. He has high-end speed, which isn’t enough in itself, but he’s a high-speed playmaker as well, and that separates him from a lot of players in my mind. He’s needed every bit of that speed and playmaking to have as much success as he has on a team so devoid of top-end talent.
The question for me is where Kyrou fits once he sticks with the big club. They have Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz, and David Perron all locked up for at least two more seasons after this one. Perron is capable of playing the left side if they so choose. If they decide to leave Perron on the right, Kyrou might be stuck on the third line for the time being.
All the same, this is about the lowest you’ll be able to pay for Kyrou for the foreseeable future, I think. He’s in the AHL and has already had an unsuccessful stint in the NHL. Maybe the Kyrou owner in your deep keeper or dynasty league is frustrated, or maybe he/she is looking for help this year to push for a title. It’s time to go fishing.
*
While on the topic of St. Louis wingers, don’t give up on Robby Fabbri yet, either. It has been a brutal 2018-19 season for him with just five points in 23 games, often finding himself either in the bottom-6 or a healthy scratch. Let’s be honest, though, it’s been a bad year for almost anyone in a Blues uniform to this point. If you didn’t draft Ryan O’Reilly or David Perron, you’re probably disappointed with your Blues selections.
But let’s not forget that over his first 123 regular season games from 2015-17, Fabbri had the same primary points per 60 minutes at five-on-five (1.37) as Mark Stone, and higher than names like Zach Parise, Patric Hornqvist, Tomas Hertl, and Jordan Eberle. It’s his first season after missing a year and a half with knee injuries and he just turned 23 years old last week.
This is basically a lost season for Fabbri but it’s also an important one. He’s back on the ice and has avoided catastrophic injury. That’s a win. Like Kyrou, his value will probably never be cheaper again in deep keeper/dynasty leagues than it is right now. It’s worth at least checking in with the Fabbri owner.
*
In my Ramblings last week, I intimated that there would be a discussion on defencemen, and more specifically, production from defencemen. Let’s start that discussion.
Production from the back end is something I’ve written about for years here on Dobber. It’s mainly due to the changing nature of the game and the evolution of the position, even as recently as the last five years. Blue liners are required not only to defend their net and blue line, but start the attack, and do so by carrying the puck or passing to the correct outlet. The days of glass-and-out are long gone.
For reference on what I’ve written in the past, in these Ramblings from April I discussed shot shares, in this one we reviewed goal shares at five-on-five and on the power play, while a third one covered changes in peripheral stats. Those are just a few of the Ramblings that have pored over different types and different levels of fantasy production from the back end going back years.
I wanted to go over scoring from the back end again here today.
Let’s start with something simple: how many 40-point defencemen have there been every season since the 2013 lockout campaign? It’s an arbitrary cut-off to be sure but fantasy owners often use it as a barometer for who is and who is not useful for fantasy purposes. These are the tallies (all from Hockey Reference):
     Season
# of 40-point d-men
2013-14
25
2014-15
27
2015-16
26
2016-17
23
2017-18
30
Season 2013-14 through 2016-17 didn’t see a whole lot of change, with the number of 40-point defencemen hovering around 25, give or take a couple. That exploded last season to 30 rear guards, but that shouldn’t be a huge surprise given that scoring in 2017-18 was the highest it had been in a decade. Given that scoring is up again this year, we’d assume more defencemen would crack 40 points, right? Well, as of Monday afternoon, we had 27 defencemen in the NHL with at least 40 games played this season and averaging 0.49 points per game (which is 40 points in 82 games).
So, are defencemen producing less from the blue line? Well, it’s not so simple.
Again, as of today, we have 27 defencemen on pace for 40-point seasons (games played depending), which is fewer than we’d expect. However, we do have three defencemen on pace for point-per-game seasons: Morgan Rielly, Mark Giordano, and Brent Burns. Only one defenceman was a point-per-game blue liner over any of those five seasons in the table (Erik Karlsson had 82 points in 2015-16). So far this season, we have eight defencemen having played at least 40 games while averaging 0.85 points per game (70-point seasons). From 2013-2018, we had just six instances of a defenceman cracking 70 points, and the only guy not named Erik Karlsson or Brent Burns to do so was Victor Hedman in 2016-17 (72).
In summary, at least to this point of the season, we’re seeing a decline in the number of players on pace for 40-point campaigns compared to 2017-18 (which was a five-year high) but we’re seeing a big uptick in players at the upper-end of the production spectrum. Just think about it: if current paces hold, we’ll have more defencemen crack 70 points this year (8) than in the previous five seasons combined (6) while having fewer 40-point defencemen (27) than last season (30) and as many as 2014-15. It’s quite the paradox.
That’s it for today on defencemen but this conversation is far from over. The reason for having higher highs from blue liners but fewer 40-point guys is confounding. I’m sure there’s a logical reason for this but I want to be a bit more thorough so I’ll continue on Thursday.

TASK 001 — DIG A LITTLE DEEPER !
(Answering this as Kristoff because it’s more fun that way.)
BASIC INFORMATION.
What is your full name ?
Kristoff Andersson Bjorgman
How is it pronounced ?
Kris-tohf Ann-duhr-sohn Buh-your-g-man
Is there a meaning behind it ?
Kristoff - basically Scandinavian for Christopher, which I’m told means carrier of Christ (okay...)
Andersson - son of Andrew (I don’t know who Andrew is)
Bjorgman - .....I absolutely have no idea about this one.
Do you have any nicknames ?
Christopher (this was by Anna, when I first met her, in which I immediately corrected her), Ice Dude, Woodsy Guy, Tall Guy, Hey You, Weirdo (by my cousins)
When and where were you born ?
I am adopted, so I’m not exactly sure where, but my birth date is on May 3.
What’s your zodiac sign and what traits do you most relate to ?
Zodiac, schmodiac. I don’t really believe all that stuff. But if you really insist, they all say I’m a Taurus. That’s the bull one, right? Awesome.
Traits? Well, it says here on the Internet that Taurus men are down-to-earth, stubborn, reserved, and can be aggressive and competitive. Well, I guess that’s me alright. It also says here that Taurus men are supposed to be well-traveled and highly successful financially. Now, I highly doubt these though.... Who came up with this stuff, anyway?
Oh, but it does say that when we fall in love, we fall in love deeply and completely. Okay, that’s sounds good. And that, we’re also great at se-- *coughs* Okay, I think that’s enough for now.
What’s your nationality ?
American, but we’re basically ethnically Scandinavian.
What’s your occupation ?
The most stable job at the moment is helping out with the family’s lumber business. I mean, I’m still in college, and will continue with the family business in time.
What gender do you identify yourself as ?
Unabashedly male.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.
What’s your eye color ?
Brown
Do you wear glasses or contacts ?
No.
Hair color ?
Uh, light brown?
Have you ever dyed your hair or wanted to ?
What? No.
Height ?
Um...tall? I’m pretty sure I’m past the 6 feet mark..
Body build ?
Athletic? But also sorta slim? I mean, I dunno.
Do you have any birthmarks ?
Nope.
Do you have any piercings or tattoos ?
Also, nope.
If not, do you want to get some ?
Not at the moment no. I mean, I don’t think I’ll look good with them anyway.
Do you have a healthy life style ?
Yes, I’d like to think so. I mean, after all, I LOVE carrots.
How easy do you get sick ?
Not pretty easy. My mom usually says I’m like a rock. Not easy to break.
Any marks on your body ( injuries, … ) ?
I do have some small scars in my arms and also a bit on my legs. Mostly due to my mountain climbing, but nothing too serious.
What’s your personal style/how do you like to dress ?
Um, comfortable wear? I’m no fashion expert, ya know. I’ve heard others say that my style can be either a combination between ‘lumberjack and mountaineer’ or ‘exhausted college student and hobo’.
What is your favorite and least favorite feature about yourself ?
I like me. All of me. But then again, I think being taller than most people I know is a total bummer.
PERSONALITY.
Positive traits ?
Loyal. Hardworking. Resourceful. Protective. Frank and Intelligent. I can go on and on, ya know, but I think that’d be too selfish of me.
Negative traits ?
Stubborn. Introverted. Awkward. Sometimes bossy. Quirky. Shy. A loner. Well, so they say.
What do you consider to be the best and the worst part of your personality?
Loyal and protective, for my best traits. And my worst? Um, being stubborn and bossy, I guess.
Are you more extroverted or introverted ?
Introverted
Any talents ?
Expert at hiking, mountain climbing and camping. Also great at all things lumber. And ice. And a decent lute player.

Losing my family. Or Sven. Or anyone I love. *coughs*

No, nothing that I can think of, no.
What is your soft spot ?
I have a soft spot for animals. Usually.
List 3 pet-peeves you can’t stand.
High prices at Oaken’s. Like, seriously man. I do not believe that carrots can be that EXPENSIVE.
Complaining about having to walk, instead of riding in a truck. Look, riding in a truck is great for travelling long-ish distances, but if it’s not that far, then we should just walk, right?
The thought of committing yourself to someone for the rest of your life, without getting to know each other THOROUGHLY first.
EDUCATION.
How far did you go in school ? Are you still studying ?
Currently a junior at college. Trying to see if I can graduate with a degree in business management.
Do/Did you like school ?
Eh, it’s alright, I guess.
What type of student are/were you ?
Let’s just say that I’m not the brightest, and I’m also not the dumbest in my class.
What is/was your favorite subject ?
I loved woodworking. And also Biology, I guess. Music too.
And your least favorite?
English, I guess.

FAMILY.
Who are your parents ?
Clifford “Cliff” Stefan Bjorgman - adoptive father; current proprietor/manager of Bjorgman Lumber.
Hulda Inge Bjorgman - adoptive mother; a crystal “healer” in her spare time
How would you describe them ?
Well, dad is...dad. He’s cool, as far as dads go. Doesn’t really speak or socialize much, so I guess, we’re similar at that aspect. Loves the business as much as he loves us.
Mom...well, she’s a bit chattier than us boys in the family. And by chattier, I guess you could say that she and Anna get along very well. She can be quite meddlesome, but I think she only does that because she wants to take care of us, and that she just wants the best for us.
Do they have any siblings ?
No. I got TONS of cousins though.
Are they close with their family?
Oh, yes. Very.
ROMANCE & SEXUALITY.
What’s your romantic and sexual orientation ?
I guess you can say that I’m heteroromantic and heterosexual.
Are you seeing anyone right now ?
*coughs* Um... I mean... *coughs* Um, no?
Have you ever been in an relationship ?
Well....no. Not really...?
Have they ever been in love ?
*shrugs* I guess. Maybe. Yeah, maybe you can that it’s a yes.
How easy do they fall for someone ?
Not easily. Really.
In their view, why didn’t any past relationships work out ?
*sighs* I dunno. Maybe because they just don’t understand or appreciate me the way I am...?
What do you look for in someone ?
Well, I’m just really on the lookout for someone who likes me for...well, me. If some girl can appreciate that, then heck yeah, maybe I can like her back too.
Do you believe in love at first sight ? or fate ?
Ugh. My mom is going to tease me sooo hard for this.
Falling in love at first sight. No. I believe that you get to know first before falling in love with them. After all, you’d never know if he or she picks his or her nose if you don’t get to know them better, right?
On fate... Well, I guess I slightly believe more on that.
What’s your views on romance ? Do you go after it or avoid it ?
Oh, I mean, romance is great. I don’t exactly avoid it, but I also don’t actively chase it. I mean, I’m romantic, but on my own pace, ya know.
Did you have your first time already ? How was it in your point of view ?
*coughs* Uh, it was...alright, I guess. *coughs*
What is your view on sex ?
Sex is...great, um, okay? I mean... Why are you seriously asking me these questions though?
What are your turn ons and turn offs ?
What the---? *coughs* Okay, I’m not gonna say ‘turn on’ or ‘turn off’. Well, in girls, I like it when they are funny, and can also get my sense of humor. Also, it helps if they can tolerate me.
Were you ever cheated on or have you cheated on someone ?
Never cheated on anyone, and no one has cheated on me...not that I know of.
Do you want to get married in the future ?
Yeah, sure. Someday.
Have kids ?
Not right now. Maybe someday.
QUIRKS.
Are you right or left handed ?
Right.
What’s a word that’s always on your lips?
What?
Is there a saying you keep on repeating ?
‘You almost set me on fire.’
I find myself constantly saying this when in the company of a certain someone. *coughs*
Do you curse ?
Sometimes. Secretly. I try as much as possible not to.
What’s your worst habit ?
I...tend to smell sometimes...? *shrugs* I shower, I swear! But I guess that’s not really a habit, right? If we’re talking habits, I guess it’s my frequent preference to just...be outside. That’s a habit, right?
Do you drink or smoke ? How frequently ?
I drink...occasionally. But not that much anyway. And no, I don’t smoke.
Are they an early bird or a night owl ?
Definitely an early bird.
How tidy is your room ?
Eh...not really that tidy.
How long do you usually take getting ready in the morning ?
I like getting ready in a jiffy, so most probably, around 30 minutes tops?
FAVORITES.
What’s their favorite color ?
Shades of blue and green.
Favorite movie ?
Oh, the Lord of the Rings franchise. Definitely.
Music Genre ?
Folk.
Food ?
Um...all of it? But, the healthy ones of course.
Book ?
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Favorite non-alcoholic drink ?
Fruit juice.
Ice Cream Flavor ?
Rocky Road
Indoors or outdoors ?
Outdoors, definitely.

Bowie and the missing soundtrack: the amazing fib behind The Man Who Fell to Earth
David Bowie is rumoured to have written a score to the sci-fi classic thats locked up in some grave. But the truth is much stranger committing screaming maids, boozy melee and coke-induced sounding hallucinations
There is a great mystery at the very heart of The Man Who Fell to Earth, Nicolas Roegs cult film: its soundtrack. There is a prolonged report that long-lost music for the film recorded by its sun David Bowie sits somewhere in a vault. Theres merely one trouble: Bowies soundtrack to The Man Who Fell to Earth doesnt actually dwell. The music that appears in the film released for the first time next month as part of a collectors edition by Studio Canal and a vinyl carton to be prepared by Universal was written and produced by John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas.
The never-before-told story of its formation is almost as improbable as Roegs film. Signed to both idol in and write an original soundtrack for the cinema, Bowie, then at the top of his early renown, intended to record the music once killing had completed, envisioning it as the follow-up to his album Young Americans. But he began working instead on Station to Station, while deep into his cocaine and milk phase. After three months, he had managed to complete exclusively five or six lines in a ludicrous mishmash of styles from country rock to instrumentals on African thumb pianos and atonal electronic music.
The British arranger Paul Buckmaster worked on the demos with Bowie at his rented house in Bel Air, and at Cherokee Studios in Hollywood. Although they had composed the music playing along to a videotape of the movie , none of it was actually synched to the picture, interpreting it almost unusable. I repute[ Roeg] just got these disparate parts and likely said, What the hell is this? responds Buckmaster.
Finding himself without a soundtrack weeks from the movies projected premiere in March 1976, Roeg turned to the Mamas and Papas songwriter. Phillips third spouse, Genevieve Waite( a South African actor and simulate ), had introduced him to Roeg in 1970, when the director was in LA to work on Performance.

Four years later, the director come here for Phillips and Waite performing a musical-comedy double act at Reno Sweeney cabaret club in Greenwich Village. Subsequentlies, he offered Waite the role of Mary Lou in The Man Who Fell to Earth opposite Bowie the capacity that eventually went to Candy Clark. He told John he wanted me to do it, she announces. But Phillips had other ideas. He had written his own sci-fi themed rock musical for his wife to star in, called Space, which was about to go into product. John spoke, Genevieves going to be working on the Broadway show. And he and Nic Roeg were so wino they had this terrible fight and knocked over tables and stuff.

Those kind of episodes with Nic is somewhat I wouldnt announce frequent but “theyre not” sporadic, adds Graeme Clifford, who edited The Man Who Fell to Earth. Everybody who knows Nic, at one point or the other, has got into a wheeling around on the flooring fight with him. If John Phillips had not had a fight with him, Id enunciate, Oh really?
The next time the pair converged, Phillips was living in Malibu. We went to Candy Clarks mansion, he said in an interview before his death in 2001. Nic was going with her at the time. Roeg depicted him a cut of the cinema on a small portable TV. I merely adored the movie the moment I find it. He was unsure why Roeg was asking him to work on the soundtrack when Bowie was the obvious option, but took the number of jobs regardless, aiming to create a real American rating with banjos and folk and stone.
Phillips whose busines started in the late 1950 s in a doo-wop/ jazz vocal radical “ve called the” Smoothies, before he founded, first, tribe trio the Journeymen, then the Mamas and the Papas was steeped in American beginnings music. A musical chameleon like Bowie, he had moved effortlessly through a succession of styles, with a marked virtuosity, and has hitherto worked on soundtracks for Myra Breckinridge and Robert Altmans Brewster McCloud.

On arriving in London in 1976, faced with putting together a tally from scratch in an enormously short time, Phillips knew he necessity someone who could really play. That party was Mick Taylor, erstwhile guitarist for the Rolling Stones, who he considered the best guitar actor in the world.
They started work at Glebe Place, Phillips rented house in Chelsea. One daylight, Phillips recollected, Keith Richards stepped in and theres Mick Taylor standing here. Were playing guitar together. On looking Taylor, Richards give away a shriek. They both ice. They hadnt watched one another since Taylor had sauntered out on the Stones only over a year earlier. It was a little crabby, Phillips suggested.
Richards and Taylor reacted like pups circling. Keith broke the ice the only way he knew how: he grabbed a guitar and is participating in. We simply played old country chants, Phillips enunciated. Those is increasingly becoming the basis for the music Phillips recorded for the film, which included originals like Boys from the South, as well as energetic handles of Hank Snows Rhumba Boogie and Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys Bluegrass Breakdown.

Some of the music was very improvised, suggests Richard Goldblatt, one of the engineers who worked with Phillips. The transcriptions were quite innovative. Despite being under gigantic pressure to develops the music in a matter of weeks, Phillips continued to lead a busy and complicated life of narcotic and sexual excess. After one hearing, he arrived back home around two in the morning. Knowing nobody there, he trod round to his sidekick Mick Jaggers house on Cheyne Walk, looking for his wife. Instead, he found Bianca Jagger and Liza Minnellis younger sister, Lorna Luft. Genevieve wasnt there and nor was Mick. We all sat around, drank wine-coloured and went pissed, told Phillips. I was playing the guitar, singing some hymns and substance. Eventually, Luft left and John and Bianca who had enjoyed a brief affair in 1970, before she met and married Jagger ended up in bed.
At some extent close to dawning, they both fell asleep. At the session the following morning, Phillips was a no-show. The musicians and operators all sat waiting. Someone echo Glebe Place to find out where he was. Waite took the announce. She went round to Cheyne Walk, figuring he might be there, talked the help into letting her in and was told “hes in” the bedroom with Bianca.
So we were awakened around 10.30 am, Phillips supposed. There was Genevieve, I know youre in there, you two. Oh God, here I am in Micks bed with Micks old lady. My old ladys outside, slamming on the door. There were Nicaraguan maids run down, screaming in Nicaraguan. Genevieve storms in the door and takes a move at Bianca. I sort of hold Genevieve back and take her out. She just passed down wall street. I had to go to work.
The final session for the score has just taken place in February, with the films world premiere at Leicester Square in London now only three weeks away. Phillips began to desegregate the racetracks so they could be laid into the revise. At that spot, answers Goldblatt, abruptly, he started to go a little singular. He could discover clicks and noises on the tape and, despite the engineers insistence that there was nothing there, insisted they do everything over. But their own problems persisted. By the fourth or fifth day, concepts were pretty tense between them. Then something snarled. He lost it for some reason, remarks Goldblatt, who trod out of its present session and rendered the next morning to learn hed been replaced by another engineer.
Goldblatt was later to indicate that the projectionist had gone into the toilets and all he could hear was mortal in the cubicle next to him smelling big smells. The shower break-dance Phillips had go take, almost at the end of every take, unexpectedly acquired appreciation. He was doing astounding amounts of coke. So much, Goldblatt speculates, that he was having auditory hallucinations. Rafe McKenna, deputy engineer, recollects Roeg coming to the studio to have a serious discussion with Phillips about his behaviour. Told him off, mostly, and articulated stop pissing off the engineers and get wise finished tonight.
The eleventh hour entreaty worked. The music just came piloting out of the studio and I remain it in, reads writer Graeme Clifford. Roeg testifies himself joyous with the music Phillips produced for the movie. It had a range of different calibers that I thought was rather interesting, he does. He truly was an individual composer.
The rebuilt The Man Who Fell to Earth is in UK cinemas on 9 September, when the soundtrack will also be available, and then on DVD and Blu-ray on 24 October.

Museums as Contact Zones By: Jordan Hawkins
My tumblr post for this week is i. Response to our Thursday reading which comes from Clifford’s “Museums as Contact Zones”. First takes from this piece were that this was definitely a different perspective. As I started to read this I picked up on key similarities to other readings which refer to the museum as places of social gatherings. The main difference between this piece and the others as it doesnt focus on the visitors but rather the people who’s culture directly contributes to the content in the museum. The main point here was that the museum when these people gathered became a “Space of colonial encounters”. (Page 192)
By this Clifford means the museum to be a place where these groups of people would come and reflect on their history. (In the piece it was native americans) When looking at the museum as a contact zone it becomes an ongoing “Historical, political, and moral relationship”. (Page 192)
It also as stated on page 192 erases power imbalances of contact issues and promotes continuity and connection. I chose the above picture because it shows a similar group discussing something in a museum like setting
