In a new sitcom filmed in Calgary, the cast and crew are predominantly black. The idea for Smell Da Coffee originated with Ireke Amoji, who moved to Calgary from Nigeria six years ago.

Among the goals are making people laugh and highlighting African Canadian culture. “The African Canadian humour is among the best,” Amoji said as he laughed.

Seeing the representation of his community on screen in a Canadian sitcom made Amoji feel proud. An Arts Development grant helped him get the project off the ground.

“There is a desire for something different among the people. The project was directed by Stella Orji, who shot the footage in the southeast community of Erin Woods last summer.

Orji said it was cool on the set that the actors and crew were mostly Black. Orji, who moved to Calgary from Nigeria four years ago and works at Simba Creative, which handled the production process for the album, said she felt at home while working on Smell da Coffee.

People in Alberta’s Black community can relate to the jokes regardless of what country they came from, she said. Watching the show and hearing something that they say makes you say ‘Yes I get that,” Orji said.

“Even though we are different, there are many similarities,” Amoji said of the varied countries represented in the pilot. “The cultural expressions that I used were understood by people from Ethiopia. We do that too at my place,” Amoji said.

Also discussed are thorny issues that many immigrant families face when adjusting to a new culture. “So many families, especially African Canadian families, are splintered by taboo subjects that they have no idea how to deal with,” Amoji said.

It aims to share cultural perspectives and build bridges between communities, Orji explained. She says, “We’re sharing stuff and integrating. In my place, we speak this way and eat this way, and you are teaching me how we do this, too. It’s improving the world,” Orji said.

As part of the production, Amoji said he wants to include references to Calgary’s history. “For Calgary, I tapped into the culture of the Calgary Stampede and also the culture of John Ware, who was a cowboy.

Now the pilot needs a place to live. TV networks are being pitched Smell da Coffee by the team behind it.

“Well...What can I do for you?”

“...uhmm...That’s right. The reason why I’m calling is to inform you  that Driver Kim is going to pick you up outside of your work place the next friday.”

That was the last word you could tell him after he hung you up. 

The fustration is build in up inside you. You only want to know what happed with your ex fiancé but how things are going maybe solve the mystery could take you a bit more than expected. But meanwhile you have to wait patiently.

"They must've been planning this for a really long time." I haven't had a chance to post much this week, so I thought I'd least throw this out before tonight's episode. I have the feeling that the "couple" who was planning to use Emily's eggs, was A.D. All along. The fact that this couple miraculously conceived on their own, but informed the clinic only AFTER the egg retrieval process was completed, sounds to me like A.D. Had a plan for those eggs well before that. Emily had made the plan to donate her eggs before returning to Rosewood. Meaning that the recipient had already been established before it was even suggested that the girls come back for Charlotte's hearing. If A.D. Was the "couple" who wanted Emily's eggs, then that means this entire plan was in place before Amoji, before Charlotte's death, before the girls even came back to Rosewood. Which means that A.D. Is likely responsible for Charlotte's death. (If she is even dead.) A.D. Most likely killed Charlotte off to keep the girls in town so that they could start the game again. If Charlotte had lived, Detective Tanner would never have taken measures to ensure that the girls all have to stay in town. And the girls would've gone back to their lives...and A.D. Would never get to finish their game.

Hey! You say you don't expect answers such as who AD is, Amoji etc, until the finale - which i totally get and think that too. But a part of me is considering this time jump between 719 & 720... Do you think we could find out who AD is in 719? Maybe we won't get an explanation until 720 but I don't understand the time jump and how it will be relevant to the ongoing who-is-AD storyline unless AD is revealed in 719 🤔. (Like after the Charlotte reveal we had the big time jump.)

I think it'll end up being a tiny time jump. Like literally a couple days. Something the writers shouldn't even have bragged about. I think we'll go from the liars in jail at the end of 719 to somehow released a few days later, ready to find out who AD is. And nah I can't see them revealing Uber A in the non finale episode. This is freeform, they spoil all the questions that will be answered, in the finale. If we were finding out who AD is next week, trust me it would be all over the promos in big red font 😂 actually I hope they don't reveal AD next episode. I'm happy to wait for the finale for that. It's literally just 8 days away. I want the finale to be epic!

I think Caleb is part of the AD team. He's a tech genius and we know someone has to be on the team. He knows how to build an electric fence, like Emily pointed out, and we've seen that around the doll house. I've noticed he hates Mona more than anyone else does and doesn't want her around for anything even though she's a genius and could really help. I think he's afraid of her, if anyone can figure out he's AD it's her. I'm pretty sure he's the one who picked out the hotel room that just so (1)

Happened to have a hole in the floor that AD could snatch Hanna from. He’s the one who lead the others way from the room just before she was kidnapped. When they found “hanna” in the church he figured out it was a doll while everyone else was too upset to realize that. Since 6B he’s had access to Spencer’s, Hannah’s place, and the Radley. He gave everyone “bug free” phone so he probably has a way to track them. When they were looking for Spencer’s receipt he’s the one that flooded the place (2)

Flooded the place, making the situation look very suspicious and as a result the investigation extended to all the liars not just Spencer. He’s too smart for such a sloppy move. He had to have known that was a bad idea. He left to erase the footage just as Lucas was arriving at the Radley. He probably went to his apartment to steal the comic book instead. And then marrying Hanna so they can’t testify against each other. I think Lucas is such a big part of the show now to set up him and Hanna (3)

As end game because Caleb will be discovered as an AD member. Marlene even said she can’t say for sure Caleb and Hanna are end game. I don’t think he’s working alone and might not even be the leader but I do think he’s a part of it. I think Amoji and AD are separate and Mary and Rollins were coming for Hanna (as Amoji) but AD intercepted her. (4)

Also there was a scene where they all wrote who they thought killed Charolette and there was a blank slip. We all assumed Emily just didn’t want to name Ali but what if AD was among them? They want to see what the other have to say because they’re sure someone knows what happened but at the same time they didn’t want to provide a name the girls could hide behind (5)

Those are really interesting observations, some I haven’t looked at from the point of view of Caleb being involved. He definitely is tech smart. It’s a good, valid theory. But just going off by my own feeling, I don’t see this happening especially now that Haleb are married. I can see Caleb being involved the way Aria was - via blackmail, but I don’t think he’s out to hurt Hanna and the rest of the girls. We don’t have long left now! We’ll know (hopefully) everything next week :) (I lost the message but I agree with you that Mona killed Charlotte. I think it’s also possible she will die this episode or in the finale. Maybe she confesses to killing her, A.D. finds out, and takes their revenge for Charlotte by killing her killer.)

OK GUYS I AM REALLY SHOOK BY THIS EPISODE NOT GONNA LIE AND CONFUSED. It was a really good episode probs one of the best of 7B but idk if I can really believe that monas AD?????? Like this has to be a red herring if not I think I’ll be a little upset. Maybe. Right now after this episode my top suspects are: Spencer/Ali Twin as bethany young or unknown name (Shit maybe they both got a twin lmao who knows) & I mean I guess mona shit. But idk I think maybe she was just delivered the game. Im doing a rewatch of 7A to see who I forsure am laying my money on lol.

Anyways!! 

I give this weeks episode a 8/10 I think Marlene & co. really stepped up this week & i’m not gonna lie I’m excited for the last 2 episodes!!

Omg i am so confused with this show because they always drop the storylines and start new ones without closure for the old storylines (was that sentence understandable?😂) I legit feel like I always only understand the recent storyline but don't get any connections with what happened before. Could you please explain what's the difference between uber a and ad? I mean after the time jump.. were there multiple people tormenting the liars? Like I know there was ad and dunhill& Mary drake (1)

(2) who wanted revenge on Ali for Charlotte right? But why? I only remember that they took their money and Mary didn't want to hurt them right? Were they only after Ali or all of them? Ok now to ad? What. Do. They. Want??? Is ad the one who wants to find Charlottes killer or what is the whole point of the game? Also who the heck was über a? I used to think it's just another name for ad Also what the eff happened to Amoji? Was it ad/über a just that they stopped using emojis or another person?

From what I can tell, Uber A is A.D. Mona is Original A, Charlotte was Big A, and A.D. is Uber A. I think the last time Marlene clarified that, that’s what she said. 

I think there were multiple people. Archer wanted revenge on Ali for Charlotte, but mostly they wanted the money. As far as I can recall, Archer is the one who kidnapped and tortured Hanna, so I think at some point, Archer definitely started going after all of them. 

I think A.D. wants to know who killed Charlotte, and I think they think the girls did it. Or they used to think that, I don’t know if they still do. 

According to the PLL WikiA, Uber A is A.D. and A.D. is Amoji lol so I guess they stopped using emoji’s because it wasn’t threatening enough. Hopefully this helps a bit :p
