my main problem with terfs outside of the obvious issue is that they stand for nothing.

if you, a regular person, are online and you say hey trans people are just people who want to live as they want.

Percy

I want to address the allegations and scandal that has engulfed Percy Hynes White. As a survivor of SA, I take all allegations seriously and give all accusers the benefit of the doubt. When I was first made aware of these allegations my heart dropped into my stomach, and I felt the first stirrings of panic rise. My own experiences make me specially sensitive when these things occur. You could say I’m triggered. I logged off for my own mental and emotional well being. Once I calmed down, I logged back on and went to read the allegations. I didn’t want to believe that Percy was capable of such a thing, but as someone who believes victims first, I was open to the possibility that this kid I thought was charming, funny and sweet was an illusion and the reality was that a monster lurked beneath the surface. However, as I began to read through the tweets and “evidence” against this man, something didn’t add up.

That’s when the anger kicked in. Do you know how insulting it is, as a survivor of rape, when girls make false allegations? Do you know the damage that it does to legitimate victims? The likely hood that they will receive justice falls even lower than it already was. It is a further violation committed against us. And there is no justification.

So over the last few days we have learned that Percy himself committed no crimes - he did not SA anyone. We’ve learned that at worst, while a teen, he was cavalier with a girl’s feelings. Not kind, but if we are to believe this is true, he also apologised when older and wiser. We have learned that when he learnt that a friend of his was capable of such horror, he ended the friendship and he was kind and compassionate to the victim.

When all that came to light, his accusers tried another avenue to smear him - they called him a racist. Their evidence? A video of a very young Percy quoting a tv show. The line happened to contain a slur. Stupid, but I think forgivable considering his age at the time. But that’s not all, according to the girls, they also offered instagram likes as proof. Problem is, the post they referenced, was not what they claimed. And don’t even get me started on his supposed twitter likes. He doesn’t even have a twitter account.

Then they tried another route - kink shaming. Again, they posted unverifiable “proof” that he liked some kinky stuff. Ok, that’s not a crime first of all. And second, fantasies and exploration of your sexuality is normal. There is nothing wrong with that except the fact that these girls violated Percy’s privacy by telling everyone.

Were they done? No. Not even. They released naked and risqué pictures of Percy that they claim he sent to them as proof of bad acts. We have a few problems with that. 1) they offer no proof that he sent them to them, just the pictures themselves, which begs the question “how did they really get them?”. 2) revenge porn is a crime, but sending the pics to them in and of itself is not. Especially if they had a sexual relationship with him at the time. 3) this is the really disgusting part. Percy appears to have been 13 years old when some of those pictures were taken. That classifies as child p*rnography and most certainly is a crime. A vile, horrific crime.

Throughout all of this, all anyone has proven is that one girl was possibly assaulted by someone that Percy knew. He reacted with shock but kindness when he found out. As to be expected. But most of all, we learned that Percy is the victim here. And we learned that there are many among us that are more vile than I ever feared.

He’s a victim of vindictive little girls who held on to images they never should have had to justify false allegations in an attempt to ruin his life because he didn’t reciprocate their affections.

This is fucking sick. It makes me sick, it pisses me off and makes my heart break for every true victim of SA, for Percy, and for his real friends and loved ones.

I hope that the people responsible face the consequences of their actions. And I finish with one final point. There is no justification in this world for spreading child p*rnography. None. There is no justification for falsely accusing an innocent person of vile crimes. None. Those involved should be ashamed of themselves.

I hope and pray that Percy is being taken care of, that he’s ok and that he is able to return to some semblance of normalcy when it all dies down and the air clears. The reality is he’ll be irrevocably changed by this. I just hope it doesn’t change him too much. I hope he emerges from this still kind, goofy and adorably weird. Take care, Percy and know that we are on your side.

I feel like this is all very futile. Nothing will happen (infuriatingly) AS USUAL. When has Meghan ever been held accountable for her crimes? Yes, CRIMES. Yes, physically abusing people is a crime, and so is trespassing. But show me the evidence she did this. There isn’t any. Just a report that disappeared, staff that’s under NDAs, and a family that won’t speak.

All we have is conjecture, gossip, hunches, and armchair diagnoses. That does jack shit when you need a conviction. You need cold, hard evidence and the truth is that there’s none. There is nothing implicating Meghan in any crime. The only thing she’s guilty of is being a shameless asshole and unfortunately, that’s not illegal.

Now, my perspective as someone who watched the whole show. If Derek, who has insinuated his way into Scott's (and Stiles's) life by brute force and manipulation, can justify stalking Scott, breaking and entering into Scott's house, assaulting Scott, and threatening Scott with death, can justify this behavior by saying it was done out of the need to protect himself and others, then Scott (and Stiles) can absolutely justify digging up a murder victim hidden on the killer's property in order to protect themselves and others.

Estate of the Bay Part 1: Johnny Law

Thought we'd put together a quick breakdown of the state of Brockton as of story start, beginning with the heroes. Names in italics are changed from canon

The Brockton Bay Protectorate core members are mostly unchanged, due to the point of divergence only being about ten years prior. The main differences are the absence of Triumph, who died in a horrible nepotism accident due to a lack of Panacea around for healing, and the addition of Redeye, who graduated from the Wards closer to a year before story start and rebranded from her Laserdream identity, severing the last tie between her and the Brigade, at least in the eyes of the public.

The Wards are a different story. Gallant was put permanently out of action in a horrible fucking rich boy accident, which was what precipitated Crystal being transferred in. Beyond that, Aegis is transgender but that doesn’t really come up except in the Wards interlude pre-Leviathan.

The biggest change to the Wards is the absence of Shadow Stalker - in her place is Scribble, aka Tammi. This is very much the same Rune as in canon, to be clear - no whitewashing here. She just got snapped up by the PRT while doing Plausible Deniability “Vigilantism” kind of like what Purity does and got press-ganged into the Wards. She’s not mask-off all the way about the white supremacy… at least not yet.

More importantly, she takes over Sophia’s Other role in the plot too - the Trio now consists of Emma Barnes, Madison Clements, and Tammi Surname. Always Sunny font Emma Barnes Goes Alt-Right.

Replacing New Wave as the independent heroes (or ‘heroes’ depending on who you ask) are the Arrows, a recently formed vigilante antifascist group. Spitfire, the leader, has a bit more steel up her spine than in canon (though she still struggles), Sophia’s still an angry loose cannon but just not. you know. in a racist way. She's got a lot of very good reasons to be angry. Whirligig in canon is just a power and a faction so she’s basically an OC - she’s slightly older than the other two, an even mix of the level head and the slacker. Doesn’t seem to quite fit with the vibes of the group.

For the most part, they’re concerned with not bringing the wrath of the Protectorate down on themselves - like in real life, killing Nazis tends to get more of a response than Nazis killing people does. A lot of what they do is lurk nearby during civilian antifascist action, ready to head off the Nazi capes if they try and intercept for their own side. A few months before story start, they killed Alabaster - more specifically, Sophia did, and while it hasnt been conclusively linked to them at story start, they’re keeping their heads down, to Sophia’s chagrin. 

They're still semi-associated with Palanquin, despite Spitfire not being a part of that group - they did approach her, and now they communicate sometimes, as the club with Case 53s is a pretty frequent target for neonazis and other shitheads.

Charlotte knows them by chance encounter, after Sophia saved her from a few skinheads.

Rogue One

Parian is still Parian. She’s aware of the Arrows, but disapproves of their use of violence, cause she’s a bit of a lib.

It's so annoying when Nalyra and this book group use excuses like this as if we're all dumb. There's lots of people who talk about the books and the show without being racist about it. The deeper issue here is not because people haven't read the books and think what you're saying is shocking.... What's really happening is that this group of BFFs loves to remove all mention of race from everything. They love pretending you can just overlay the books to the AMC show and it's a perfect match. Then, when anyone mentions how important it is to factor in race when discussing these things, here comes the screaming victimhood and all the "it's what's in the book" gifs. The "I'm sorry you just can't handle gothic literature SWEETIE" attitudes that are v tiring. Any race can be racist too (isn't that this group's favorite line too, they should know....) and only care for the wellbeing of white fandom, so these brown emojis or black fans who will make callout lists on other black fans under the language of calling out "fandom issues" or "antis" aren't fooling anyone to what the real motivation is behind it. People who worship Anne Rice are always going to be airheads who can't take criticism because look at your girl and all she was ever doing. Any adult who wants to defend her or the books is not a critical thinker or an intellectual. It's v possible to discuss her and the books without the stan goggles on. The black fans this group is always sneering at do it all the time. That's probably where the real issue lies, because it's done much better than the horseshit fanon Nalyra, Virgnia, and the rest are slinging and thinking is epic meta or something. I lurked for a long time before coming here to start pointing this out. I've seen these egos get bigger since the show has been off the air and book people crawled out from the depths to try and tell everyone "what's going to happen." It's a stupid power trip and nothing else. This group doesn't have the ability to analyze anything like they think they do, so they've grown together since the show stopped airing to start harassing other fans and pretend they're the victims just because they don't think talking about race is important in their....erm...."analysis" lol. They only think they have power because the fandom became smaller when S1 ended. They're gonna be muted again when it comes back because they aren't keeping up with the themes of the show and their takes aren't interesting. Saying the white man is always innocent, the black man is lying, the brown man is manipulative is what society already does. It's boring and it's not what the show has shown us in its own canon that it's doing. This group and white fandom in general love to take an inch and run a mile with it. Whenever anyone (but especially Jacob) mentions Louis might be a liar or an unreliable narrator they're jumping on the chance to spread that statement over every part of the story. They want so much for all of it not to be true because they need Lestat to be the good guy. They always claim they love stories about monsters except their favorite white guy can't even stay a monster for them to adore him. He can't ever even be any kind of fuck up and grow from it, he's just supposed to immediately be perfect. What's the point of the story then ffs? This is why you need to read other books that aren't written by idiot, egomaniacal authors who don't have editors and are in love with their own creations. If you always find a way to excuse the white characters, say all the black and brown characters are the unreliable, scheming ones, and scream and yell "it's what's in the books" whenever anyone reminds you to notice race......then you're just racist, girl. It's not even a mystery lol so stop this crap like you're fooling anyone. You can be as loud as you want but it doesn't mean you're actually a victim of anything but your own racist stupidity. Just because Anne Rice didn't get as much pushback as she deserved in her dumb life doesn't mean you're going to get the same treatment. It's 2024, bitch.

So I’ve mostly been lurking in the rwrb fandom but I’ve seen some discussions about what the sequel could look like so I thought I’d throw in my two cents:

Cold open with the proposal.  Dealer’s choice who, how and where (Paris seems an obvious choice, but also, well, rather obvious, dare I say a bit on the nose). Bonus points if Nora, Pez and/or Bea are somehow involved.

General background for the film would be Alex and Henry’s big fat royal wedding (I know in the book Henry left the royal family but from a narrative pov that would be wasting so much material). The wrinkled white racists at Buckingham Palace obviously come up with the most absurd obstacles and demands giving the boys plenty of opportunities to be adorably mutually supportive and cute. Or bang out their frustration.

One plot line could involve Alex getting princess diaried and finally being forced into those desperately needed etiquette lessons.  I imagine Shaan is heavily,  long-sufferingly involved (Zarah sends some very creative threats should Alex damage her boyfriend). Alex, of course, fights tooth and nail against any bit of royal protocol the point of which cannot be explained to him by anything other that ' that’s how we do it‘. Because is not a good enough reason for him to do stupid stuff. As a fellow English lit major I have a strong need for Henry to remind his grandfather that 'great customs curtesy to great kings' and maybe the royal protocols need some updates (they really, really do) and if the king can’t change then then who can?

Another plot line could centre around Philipp noticing that Henry is feeling some kind of way about certain people on the guest list. The 'I had my first time with one of my big brother’s friends when I was 17‘ bit wasn’t in the movie, but given we’ve only heard a fraction of those 72 emails it wouldn’t be a stretch to say it was in there. Pip could regain some of Alex's and Bea's trust as they work together to find out who took advantage of Henry (they eventually realise the person to ask is obviously Pez, but getting him to spil takes some convincing).  Philipp concludes his redemption arc in the grand finale of the film by punching the guy at the reception, causing a major scandal at his brother’s wedding thus making them even. Alex and Pez shameless cheer, Henry is surprised but very touched.

And then they lived happily ever after (until part 3)

Here’s a little perspective on real RS, real RS with PR and PR RS.

REAL RS (and them being private) If they were in a real relationship and were being private, we would have not got all the manipulation and games we’ve been having for the past year and a half. They would have probably not even followed each other on IG. Chris would have not followed Justin to lead fans to see his trolling. Justin would have not been allowed to post anything connecting to him. They wouldn’t have drum up the announcement with fake Broadway’s night out, a comment on IG, a papwalk and an article in People mag. They would have one day showed up together at a premiere or event and announced maybe they’re engage or even married. We would have not gotten video and pics dump like they did. They could also be private (not secretive) by just playing it like any normal couple play it on social media: pictures of them together and likes here and there and partially show their RS in real time. REAL RS with PR If they were in a real RS with PR, they would have used PR. They’re not. Using PR would have meant him promoting her show, her promoting his movie. They would have attended multiple events to show themselves, being private or not. He wouldn’t be ashamed to walk the red carpet of a movie premiere with her. He would not hide her. If you’re in a safe and secure relationship, you don’t hide. We would have got a lot more “organic sightings” (arranged or not). Everything we’re getting is highly manufactured and curated. He didn’t allow any questions about his RS in the Ghosted promo tour. He never mentioned her anywhere (not even writing her name on his famous dumps).

PR RS Anyone ever wondered how they met? We were in the middle of the pandemic. She wasn’t allowed to come to the US. There were no social events, or premieres to attend where they could have been introduced. They didn’t meet on set. The genesis of it all is some sort of arrangement between either a studio (or streaming service, a lot of people think Netflix has to do with it), agents, publicists, producers. We don’t know. And we’ll never know what he’s getting out of this cause it’s not gonna be revealed publicly. We can only assume. One thing for sure is, he’s clearly afraid of the optic of this RS (because of the age difference, the fact she looks even younger, her raunchy filmography, her racists things and friends). Was all this fully vetted before he got into this? Who knows? But now he’s showing he’s not comfortable with this. When you compare to Seb and Ale, he’s not going all in. Does it serve the “he’s private” narrative? Yes. But if he was really private, why the leaked WDW family pictures? Her friends showing they’re at his house? The constant inorganic, manufactured content? The announcement dropping the day her show premieres. This RS only revolves around likes and follows and occasional pictures on IG. You call that a RS? And I’m not even talking about all the things that were discussed on Tumblr to later be “proven” by them. They lurk and wants to shove this RS down the fandom throat.

As for is she trolling with her IG? My answer is: yes. She used to post a lot more and since this RS was revealed, she almost stopped. Like Nancy said, she’s easy to goad and they quickly realized she couldn’t be trusted. Now what we’re getting? Only things that relates to him or adjacent: follows of things he already does, likes and comments on some of his friends and family account, the use of a VPN to hide her location. Again, if they were in a safe and secure relationship, she wouldn’t have to prove it’s serious. She would post content of her spending time with her friends and family in PT, cause you don’t care what people say, and you can spend some times away from your BF from time to time. She would show she has a life of her own outside this RS. Now she hides her true self cause they have to sell a narrative that she’s spending all her time with him.

There are actually more examples. Like the VDay post, if you are a private couple why posting these things? if you are real and use PR why waiting so long to post it...

I have not been having a great week in my perception of That Fandom Subgroup (TFS) this week. Here's a succinct post I agree with (and really, read the whole blog if you don't see why people are done with TFS). There is nowhere you can go in fandom that isn't almost immediately put on edge. I have blocked and muted liberally. I don't search out posts I won't like. I mostly stay lurking. I only stick to places that have nothing to do with TFS. I still cannot escape that shit.

Anytime the racist, homophobic, transphobic, etc. discourse of the day pops up, most of the time it's from TFS. The last five months in fandom has just been an escalated storm of the usual abuse and harassment, including at least one attempted doxxing incident. Our super cool and uniquely interactive creator had to lock a post for the first time ever, and was (or is, idk, i blocked so many people) bombarded with people who struggled to tell the difference between an actor they like and the tertiary character he played. Event after event after event that make this fandom a hostile place. The fandom isn't safe. After two years of escalation, I am not giving anyone from TFS the benefit of the doubt on anything unless they take a purposeful stand and won't just retreat again into "We're not all like that" and "You are making me feel unsafe and unwelcome in this space."

There is some dangerous revisionism and manufactured victimization going on. If you criticize Blorbo or TFS member or TFS fanwork at all, it's an attack on all of TFS, and you're making the space unsafe. People police tags and keywords on all platforms to "correct" and make the platform "safe" for TFS. If you want to talk about racism and other bigotry prevalent in fandom, it's now set up as an attack on TFS and discussion gets shamed to the fringes.

There is a certain fanfic that got popular early and has extreme racial concerns, but it is highly recommended without proper CW in the recommendation and without proper tagging of the work on AO3. (And, really, people who have been around long enough know exactly what I'm talking.) These are not nitpicks (fanfic authors don't need to hear your nitpicks), but major triggers and issues that are not handled well and it is also a work that has had a large influence how people are responding to canon. Apparently, it's getting passed around with word that the backlash was because people weren't happy with Blorbo's Story, but correcting that is bad. I mean, backlash of that size being around Blorbo doesn't even sound plausible, but it's accepted without a thought.

And "but the author...", stop. Personal harassment is wrong. Public criticism of harmful ideas being passed around is not personal harassment. Describing bad things happening in a story does not mean the author endorses the bad things. However, it is valid criticism if harmful stereotypes are added to a story that directly contradict the canon it's drawing from, and slapping "well, the story wants to be dark!" into the discussion isn't a carte blanche to excuse criticism. The author should be left alone, but that doesn't mean any CWs on the fic should be quieted.

There is nothing wrong with being mindful of your own personal safety.

We all have a right to feel uncomfortable, and to act accordingly. It’s okay to cross the road to avoid others, I do this myself.

So too we should all be mindful of how we can make others feel safer when walking home at night – this is just basic common decency.

But what isn’t okay; is to fear monger, vilify and create a cultural panic around ‘men’ as a group.

To talk about men as if they’re monsters forever lurking the shadows; comparing experiences with men to walking through a room of snakes, or swimming in a shark tank, and yes, eating from a bowl of poisoned M&Ms.

This is not advocacy. This is ignorance, and hate.

Neither do such thought experiments help women ‘feel safe’ either. In fact, such terrifying analogies will likely make them feel the opposite.

Neither do you get to tell men (who are at a significantly higher risk), that they can walk the streets at whatever time they like, without fear or consequence – under the protective shield of so called ‘male privilege’.

Walking home at night is not an opportunity for you to inject your bigoted political ideas around men, or stoke fear and division.

I am tired of it.

I am tired of the endless pearl clutching.

I am tired of seeing the conversation of violent crime centred on highly privileged millionaire celebrity women, who are not at risk, and taken away from those who are – which is young, inner city, working class black boys.

I am tired of the conversation making no effort to understand what shapes violent crime, or how to reduce it, to instead fan the flames of a gender war.

I am tired of seeing tragic stories hijacked for political ends, to become yet another bludgeon to hit ‘yes all men’ with.

It is boring. It is divisive. And most of all, it doesn’t achieve anything.

So let’s look at the numbers, for a more reasonable and evidence based insight into violent crime.

Xians will thank their god for everything good in their lives, but are pathologically incapable of blaming it for the bad things that happen. It's either "free will" or "Satan" or some other excuse. This is hypocritical.

If you blame men as a category for violent crime, then you can also give credit to men as a category for the decline of violent crime over the years. To not do so would also be hypocritical.

Or you just blame the extreme minority who are actually responsible.

And if you're still like, nope, changes nothing, then okay. But just do one thing for me. Type: "I'm justified crossing the road when I encounter..." Then go look up violent crime by race, pro rata it, and see how you feel about finishing that sentence. I dare you. If one would make you feel racist about making assumptions about and blaming all members of one group, then the other should also make you feel sexist about making assumptions about and blaming all members of another group.

In fact, such terrifying analogies will likely make them feel the opposite.

This is, of course, a feature not a bug. Women's fear is a valuable political and ideological commodity.

Ra's met Talia's mother at woodstock. She was killed by a someone who was lurking near the lazarus pits (something others not allowed to do) and pushed her into the lazarus pit in panic and the pit's acids melted her or smth. Talia was extremely young back then and saw her mother get killed.

It's not that hard to do a google search before talking about stuff you have no clue about with a sense of entitlement and talking about punching someone for saying something YOU weren't aware of..

Talia and Ras are characters to be handles very delicately or you might enter the racist side of the fandom despite not knowing. I think it's not very safe to make assumptions about these complex characters, because they are evil but people blend them into 2D racist stereotypes. Which isn't good because. well. it's racist.

Contrary to popular belief Ra's al ghul isn't osama bin laden!

He has cried and killed over his PETS. Damian's love for animals was started by the al ghuls who want to save the planet and it's endangered species. They're like poison ivy but for animals idk 😭😭 Ra's literally thinks of Bruce as a son too. The al ghuls relationship with the family is extremely complicated and it's valid to not understand that!! BUT it's not valid to demonize them and feed into assumptions that could be cleared with a GOOGLE SEARCH.

I think it's a bit hypocritical to be so defensive of Damian's skin color but not his culture and heritage, along with demonizing the said heritage. The white savior trope isn't cute sis.
