An idea I had set in an Eddie survived verse. Where Steve and Eddie become trapped in Upside Down affected Hawkins. A huge fault splitting them from the rest of the gang. Away from everything safe, constantly having to survive creatures warped by the creeping dread. A fighting battle to stay safe in a ever changing environment. Very messy doodles compilation My tablet was screaming at me for not having any space left so I went to my whump drawing files to do some cleanup. Turns out not only I have an endless amount of wip files, but each file has an endless amount of layers with sketches I put them all together so I can get back to them quickly. Putting your characters in a kidnapping scenario is a great way to practice characterization because there are just so many ways you can take being kidnapped. Are they terrified and crying? Or calm and determined? Screaming and yelling curses or making jokes? How about begging for mercy? Immediately getting violent?

And when/if they break, how does their behavior change? You can have a character start calm and collected and turn paranoid after weeks or months in captivity. Iconically, take your defiant and cocky character and make them scared and meek. Take the sweet innocent character and turn them into a monster. How would your OC develop if they were in a problem like this?

My closing statement is, test your characters. Like a geode, you need to break it to see the gems inside.

I got this idea stuck in my head, hope it helps!:

I like the idea of the whumpee not being shown straight away. The whumper really wants to make a production of it, so they're teasing the whumpee reveal. However, in the background noises can be heard. They're very distracting as the whumper waffles on, padding time to allow those receiving the video to hear them moving chains, testing tools, turning on blowtorches etc. Maybe there's a shift of the chair and a quiet "No - please." before the video ends too.

The next one is similar, except there's the tell-tale signs of the whumpee trying to keep quiet with every strike. This format continues for a few videos until the whumpee finally breaks and screams when the whumper is halfway through their demands. There's a glimpse of a smirk on the whumpers face before they excuse themselves and the video ends.

The next video stars the whumpee and whumper sitting side by side. The whumper is acting all friendly with them, but the whumpee flinches at every movement. (However your whumpee looks can be based on what you're subjecting them to behind the scenes).

I can imagine them to be treating it almost like an interview (or even a vlog depending on the setting/timeframe). Where the whumper asks the whumpee what they'd prefer, where the information is etc etc, all coming to a head when the whumper asks: "Is there anything you'd like to say to the people at home?"

And the whumpee explodes with pleads, trying to wrench themselves from where they're bound to the chair to get closer to the camera.

"Don't do it, please don't give them what they want - I'm fine! Don't give them anything-."

There's a cut.

And the chair next to the whumper is empty. They smile at the camera. There's crying in the background.

"Looks like we haven't quite convinced them yet. We'll see you next week where hopefully they'll be more... agreeable."

Caretaker answered the video call from Whumpee with mild frustration. Whumpee knew they had a busy work day and couldn't take time off to chat. They had talked with Whumpee about waiting until after work to talk. "What?"

A face Caretaker had never seen before stared at Caretaker. "Caretaker?"

"Who is this? Actually, you know what," Caretaker couldn't keep the irritation from coloring their words, "I'm sure you're some friend of Whumpee's. I can't talk now. I told Whumpee that. I have a lot of important things at work today. So, whoever you are, tell Whumpee I'll call them on my way home since they are so eager to talk."

"Caretaker, allow me--" the stranger started, but Caretaker cut them off.

"I am hanging up now. Tell Whumpee I don't appreciate having my day interrupted like this."

"Tell them yourself," the stranger said as they walked over to something--someone--tied to a chair. They fisted the person's hair and lifted their head. Whumpee sat bound and gagged in the chair. The stranger held a knife to Whumpee's throat. "Do I have your attention now, Caretaker?"

Caretaker's mouth went dry. "What do you want?" Whumpee looked unharmed, their eyes wide with fear.

The person pressed the knife point to Whumpee's throat, drawing a small trickle of blood. "Well, I just want to talk, Caretaker. But are you ready to listen?"
