Whumpee’s with short hair…
Whumper lamenting about the hair they used to have, and Whumpee secretly glad to ruin their day.
Whumpee keeps finding ways to keep their hair short (practically begging for the punishment), and Whumper keeps letting them. If they want to pick their lessons, why not?
When Whumpee looks in the mirror, they don’t recognize the person there. No longer the lovely, cared for locks, but rough jagged lines on their head where Whumper angrily cut.
Secretly loving the short hair, loving having control over it. Whumpee will pluck out any strands that get too long. Anything to have control.

Whumpees who get violent when they get emotional.
Whumpees who get so overwhelmed by their emotions, who want so desperately to make the feelings go away.
Whumpees who can’t get their heartbeat to calm down, who feel their hands start shaking uncontrollably like their body is a live wire with electricity pulsing through their limbs.
Whumpees who have to get physical -- to get violent -- to express their emotions because then the chaos isn’t only in their head.
Whumpees who throw tantrums, who break things. They take baseball bats to mirrors and rip the pages from books. Caretaker taught them to punch pillows or throw them against the walls, but it’s never enough.
They need to hurt. They need to pull their hair and scream until their throat feels raw, to slap their face and bash their fists into the sides of their heads.
They need to feel the hot tears streaming down their flushed and stinging cheeks, to feel the emptiness in their chests as their heart slows down and their body gives out from exhaustion.
They need the violence to calm them down, to numb them enough that they’ll stop thinking.

- How bout' Whumpee slowly turning into the next Whumper (towards caretaker, revenge against whumper, and unfornate third party character)

- Caretaker the ex-whumpee (being reverted to their old role)
- Wholesome Whumpee
- Hazardous Whumpee
- The escape artist
- Accused of being a Whumper, or being a whumper in the past (was it in their control)
- Takes nothing serious since their freedom Whumpee
- Feral Whumpee

love a fictional character who will scowl and tell people “I’m not sick” “I’m not hungry” “I didn’t get injured”
meanwhile he has an extremely high fever, he ate some soup last week, and the blood is soaking through his jacket

amnesia as a trauma response has the potential to be so fucking funny because imagine you just spent like 6 months breaking Whumpee down piece by piece, stripping them of their rights, destroying their mind and body with scars that will never heal, relishing in the irrevocable damage done by your hand even after they've been rescued
and then you run into them at a grocery store and they're like "oh hey (: sorry didn't see you there ((((: no i have no idea who you are but you're blocking the shelf i need to look at"
my ass would be humbled so goddamn fast. i would be shinji gripping the sink sobbing in the mirror because Whumpee basically just called me cringe. my brilliant torturing apparently meant fuckall and i'm not even worth the time of day. they'd probably misspell my name on a starbucks cup. whumper turned whumpee because how do i recover from that. what the fuck.

There’s something about a whumpee just sitting down. Not fainting, necessarily. Maybe they’re just about to faint, and they quietly just kneel on the ground at a time and place that doesn’t make sense. They don’t even have the capacity or willingness to articulate why they need to abruptly stop and sit. Maybe they’re catatonic while the others look at them.
Maybe a caretaker can see the dull, vacant look in their eyes and immediately senses that something is seriously wrong. Maybe the fainting comes just a few moments later.

A character with the mentality, if I’m not dead I’m fine. They hold out under torture, go through extreme conditions like starvation and dehydration, and don’t shrink back from danger. Every time they feel themself getting scared they rebuke themself, sneering contemptuously at the fact that they would even think to act frail when they know better. Getting hurt is never a problem for them. It can’t ever be a problem for them because they have to.
Even if they do start to sniffle a little when they’re alone out in the cold, rocking while cradling a broken bone, knowing no one is coming to help them.

the flinch that betrays a defiant whumpee’s terror
the curse that’s broken off by a plea
a small shudder that they fail to suppress
the choked breathing in between the sarcastic comments
what good is their defiance when whumper kicks their legs out from under them, leaving them on their hands and knees?
The blood on the concrete is their own and whumper kicks them when they’re down.
“Do you think I’d forgotten?” Whumper smiles and leans down. “Do you think I’d forgotten how to make you bleed?”

living weapon whumpees who, during the first few months of recovery with caretaker, are foreign to the concept of comfort‼️‼️‼️
have them flinching away from caretaker's soft touch because they believe they don't deserve it‼️‼️‼️
have a caretaker gently massage living weapon whumpee's shoulders, soothing words further adding to whumpee's overall confusion before they eventually lean into caretaker's warm touch‼️‼️‼️
have caretaker's soft words and hands holding whumpee's face snap them out of their conditioning after something / someone accidentally triggered them, startled at first before recognizing that, caretaker wasn't a threat, they were safe with them and that whumper wasn't here anymore ‼️‼️‼️

recovering Whumpee prompts
Whumpee who NEEDS to see everything around them. They will not let anyone, even Caretaker, walk behind them, they sit or stand with their back to a wall if possible. They're always looking behind them, constantly expecting Whumper there, even if it's just subconsciously.
Whumpee who makes themself as small as possible. They know their posture is taking a hit, but they draw in all of their limbs and hunch over in an attempt to be as small as possible. They're most comfortable this way.
Whumpee who has periods of time where they lose speech - partially or totally. During these, if they want or need something, they find it difficult or impossible to ask for it, and god forbid someone ask them about Whumper.
Whumpee who dissociates - their eyes grow unfocused at times and they always look confused or lost. They mindlessly follow Caretaker wherever they go, even when they're completely out of it.
Whumpee who has lost touch with their own self and feelings, and who notices that their breathing and heartbeat are speeding up. They notice their symptoms of having, say, a panic attack, too late to stop the effects.
Whumpee who has to be their own caretaker, whether that means stitching up their own wounds while biting on their wallet, or forcing themself up and out of bed in the morning.

Whumper that treats pet whumpee like a lapdog meets whumpee who had lived their whole life touchstarved and hated equals the most toxic but enjoyable relationship either had ever had.
Whumper likes how whumpee leans into their touch, the way they panic when they leave the room.
Whumpee relishes the “best” treatment they’ve ever had, and chalks up the overly close and possessive nature of it to love.

Whumpees who refuse to let themselves ever look weak again.
Whumpees who never let themselves depend on Caretaker, who refuse to accept any kindness or help.
Whumpees who never cry anymore, who’ve disconnected themselves so completely from their emotions so they can never be hurt again.
Whumpees who turn to drink or drug when the world feels too harsh to handle, even for them.
Only then, when Whumpee is wasted, can Caretaker clean them up and tuck them into bed at night.
Caretaker was worried at first, when they saw how wasted Whumpee was, but now with them sound asleep their worries faded away.
That is, until the screaming started…

Whumpee thinks Caretaker is their new master. Good trope, right? But check this out;
Caretaker doesn't notice.
Because the morning after the day they were rescued, all Whumpee did was get Caretaker a cup of coffee. It was only after then that Whumpee realized new master new rules, and Caretaker might not like coffee at all. So after an hour or so of a panic attack, Whumpee decides to stay put and not do anything.
But Caretaker didn't say anything about that coffee, so Whumpee should probably keep doing that?
And so, every morning, Caretaker gets a cup of coffee, says thank you, that's a nice gesture, and gets done with the day, while Whumpee tries to stay as quiet and unnoticed as possible. Not angering Caretaker is their top priority. Caretaker notices Whumpee is really, really quiet, but hey, they might just like it quiet. They do seem a little scared, but they've been putting off well, so Caretaker is positive that they'll get better with time.
Then Caretaker hears Whumper liked a cup of coffee every morning.
That's.. a strange coincidence.
I hope that's a coincidence.
And they finally try to talk to Whumpee about it, and Whumpee breaks into tears and Caretaker realizes what a mess this is,

Sleep
Whumpee was awake.
They didn’t know when they woke up, but they were awake.
They hurt.
Tremors echoed from their head to their toes as Whumpee pushed themselves up onto their elbows. A fire burned under their skin, and their head was pounding. Something bad had happened to them. Something they couldn’t remember.
A hand filled Whumpee’s vision. The palm was cold as it pressed against Whumpee’s forehead. It felt nice until it began to push.
“Lay down. Go back to sleep.”
The voice sounded tired. Whumpee was tired. They should go back to sleep. Yeah. Sleeping was a good idea.

The Five Stages of Grief
Denial - "This can't be happening" // "I'm going to wake up any minute...it's only a nightmare..." // "None of this real, it can't be!" // "There's been a mistake!" // "They...they wouldn't leave me like this, they'll come rescue me, they will!"
Anger - "You can't do this to me!" // "Fuck you, you fucking psychopath!" // "I don't have to listen to you!" // "You're a goddamn coward!" // "Let me out of here so I can break your neck!" // "You'll be sorry when they come find me, creep!"
Bargaining - "Please, no, anything but that!" // "N-not the cattle prod, please, I'll do whatever you want!" // "No, don't hurt them! Hurt me instead, I can take it!" // "I'll let you touch me however you want just please don't use that!" // "I'll tell you whatever you want if you just let me go!"
Depression - "Do whatever you want, what's the point?" // "I don't think I have anything left to scream for you" // "Just kill me and get it over with" // "Just...just leave me alone..." // "Why are they taking so long to find me? Don't they care? Don't they love me?"
Acceptance - "I knew I deserved this..." // "I'll be good, I promise" // "I love you, too" // "They were never looking for me, were they?" // "Yes, sir/ma'am" // "What do you mean 'leave'? I can't leave, that's against the rules"

Oh Oh Oh! You know what I wanna see?
Suicidal Whumpees
(This has nothing to do with my own issues shut up)
Particularly, a Defiant Suicidal Whumpee
A Whumpee who gets captured, who gets beaten black and blue, tortured with everything Whumper can throw at them, but still spits in their face at the end of the session
A Whumpee who taunts and mocks their captors at every turn, regardless of how much worse it makes things for themself
A Whumpee who acts as the biggest thorn in Whumper’s side because they won’t back down, they won’t submit, they won’t just give up like Whumper wants
A Whumpee who does all of this because they don’t care, who, when threatened with death, looks Whumper dead in the eye and says “bring it”, who’ll get the barrel of a gun pointed at their head and just lean forwards and tell Whumper to pull the trigger with a smile on their face
A Whumpee who takes everything Whumper does to hurt them and still throws insults back at them, because deep down they’re hoping if they piss Whumper off enough, if they push them too far, Whumper might actually kill them and it will all end
A Defiant Whumpee who spits in Whumper’s face and prays that this time it’ll finally be the straw the broke the camels back and they’ll be free
