Re: the Luz and Hunter being each other's type though. I remember when Hunting Palismen had just come out and well-meaning commentators on twitter and elsewhere were falling over themselves to be like "I LOVE that they've established a QUIRKY SIBLING VIBE between these two!! So as not to interfere with Lumity!! Because that would be Biphobic! We all agree on this interpretation!!" when like. I also agreed that lumity was probably too far along for Hunter to be intended as a love interest but 🤨🤨🤨 Come on. I'm currently feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of all the WIPs I have on AO3 (COTTA, CORB, COBB to mention just a couple of them) because I really want to work on all of them, but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it. I know people will appreciate my words whenever they're ready, and I'd rather work on what sparks joy than force myself to focus on certain WIPs and not write anything 💗

Having said this, I'm back at working on 47572 things at the same time! I have so many projects for EGF and I'm curious to see how many of them I can finish. Here's one that's about half done already, so there's hope for it 😂. It's very rough but whatever:

He stays silent for a long moment. “I guess that could be arranged.”

It's on him for being a fan of the book series that's been consuming half of my thoughts for the past two years.

WIP Wednesday

I’m feeling rather blue today. I finished writing my first novel at the beginning of 2021 and did a full rewrite earlier this year. I’ve queried so many literary agents (granted, just a few with the rewrite). But I got another rejection today after they had requested more pages, and it hit me hard. I’m not quite sure why.

I’ve never written for an audience before this fic, not really. Today, I am particularly grateful for this community of readers and writers. I’m thankful for the encouragement and comments, the reblogs and positive feedback. I’ve never felt so accepted as a writer.

It’s hard, trying to break into the literary world. But this fandom is the easiest, kindest, warmest place to write. So truly truly truly—thank you.

Chapter 8 of Stress Management will be out next Thursday. I can’t post anything from that chapter (hello, spoilers), so I’m posting a quote from chapter 7, one that seemed to resonate with several of you.

Getting To Know You Game

Last Movie: i have been possessed to do a rewatch of the shrek films (timecapsule popculture classics.)

Currently Reading: jade legacy by fonda lee (third book in the greenbone saga. really good series but almost painfully long. will be excited to finish it), vengeful (second book in the villains duology. it's very fun.) I am also caught up on detraquee (dramione) by hysteracal and it's slowly become my favourite fanfiction ever. an absolute delight I would rec to anybody.

Currently Watching: i don't watch many shows but i am watching some anime updates (jjk, my happy marriage, bungou stray dogs), and have watched the first two eps of the one piece live action (fun so far!)

Last thing I wrote: a jjk ficlet (why, brain. pls focus on original work.)

Currently writing: working on an original project unofficially titled Persephone, as well as my usual hp wips. I've also signed up for the hp pumpkin spice fest and am hoping the time constraint will mean more speedy writing this month!

Well hello everybody!

I’m working on my Secret Snowflake Exchange fic, which is going to be a smutty Watford-era thing. (I can’t give many more details than that, or my giftee will see their prompt.) I had about 2.5k of set up written and it was taking too long to get to the sex so I opened a new doc and tried to start it in the middle of the action instead. He doesn’t say anything at first. Just rolls his eyes and clutches at his curls. It’s infuriating, and I hate that it’s become a gesture I find painfully endearing.

He takes a step away from me and crosses one leg over the other awkwardly. He’s either trying to hide his erection or surreptitiously rub himself against his own legs. Either way, I don’t know why he’s bothering to hide at all. I know it’s there. And he knows I’m hard, too.

Don’t feel too bad for the me, I’m feeling better about where I am now, and I might be able to recycle the other bits later on in the fic as flashbacks or something.

Deadpool - obsessed, amazing, no notes, i've seen it so many times

Deadpool 2 - same as above, i think i like this one better than the first actually no idea why but it SLAPS and i'll literally never say no to watching it

Shrek 2 - one of my all time faves, i have the entire thing memorized

Cheaper by the Dozen 2 - don't ask me why i seem to like sequels so much anyway i like this one a medium amount but it really reminds me of when i was a kid watching it so it's a nice throwback

Top Gun: Maverick - obsessed with my babygirls (hangman and bob), not a huge fan of tom cruise i usually actively avoid his movies but the dagger squad make up for it and all in all i really loved this movie

Hitman's Bodyguard / Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - all around good soup, action comedy is my favourite genre, obsessed with them being sarcastic and joking when in serious and dire situations, i've seen both of these movies many times

Legally Blonde - when i was in the hospital my mom and i watched this like 4 times and since then has become our movie, we rewatch it a couple times a year

I will share one of my favorite taekwondo stories from many years ago because I think it is funny. Two different short dads I was sparring with managed to accidentally nail me in the face with the same kick on two different occasions, months apart. (You cannot hit the face in taekwondo but going for a headshot it happens a lot.) The first time miraculously didn't knock out any teeth but my upper lip got stuck in my braces and I had to rip it out while laughing maniacally. I looked like a corpse for weeks. The second time was straight in the nose, so my nose is still slightly crooked and makes a crunchy noise if I wiggle it to this day.

Both of the dads felt terrible but I was a teenage boy so I thought blood on my uniform was cool.

The "short dad curse" was real for a bit there and the only reason it hasn't continued is because I am now the short dad myself.

I got a small notebook to write tasks in, things I've done, what and when I ate, etc. This has been very helpful for memory loss and blackouts.

Don't have one, but one of these days I want to write something more hopeful, something along the lines of a 2010s-era superhero cartoon but as a novel. Don't have a plot for that one yet. It's rotating in my head, though.

One of the best pieces of writing advice I ever heard was "give yourself permission to suck." When you sit down to write you can't be fixated on making it perfect the first time. All your first draft has to do is exist. Anything you write down you can change later, but you gotta get it down first.

Stupid little ramble about pete/mikey etc read if you dare

The whole pete mikey summer of like thing has been taken way too far and while this isn't particularly new, i want to just talk about it.

Idk how controversial of a take this is but p/tekey (censor for search) should be kept in fan spaces. I remember when Chris had that insta live where he talked about his friendships with pete and mikey and tbh the chat was actually horrible. Maybe I simply had too high of expectations but I expected more people would've been respectful. So many people just filling the chat asking if pete and mikey were together. I remember Chris talked about how our (fans) idea of how the whole summer of like thing went is different to real life, and basically that the truth would probably be disappointing. And he's right. Our perception of sol is largely based on fan speculation. In truth, we don't really have solid proof. Pete never came out and said "ya me and mikey fucked in 05". Our view of sol is largely based on things like lj posts and them sharing clothes and other stuff.

I keep seeing people taking it all way too far. I rbed some posts about this earlier but ppl who think that a lot of fob songs are about Mikey need to realize that not only are they reducing the meaning of the lyrics to being about mikey, but also mikey is not in fact the only person important to pete. Because yes making silly posts about bang the doldrums is fun (genuinely such a good song can we all collectively acknowledge that) (also its even funnier that it was written for fucking shrek. There is another timeline where bang the doldrums was in shrek) but dude. Saying all of ioh and a bunch of other assorted song are actually about mikey is just untrue. Pete as a songwriter puts a lot of layers and different meanings in his songs, and with ioh specifically, the lyrics reflect some of the struggles pete was dealing with at the time. Others have brang this up as well, but id just like to add that petes songwriting isn't acknowledged for being really amazing and innovative. There are a lot of factors as to why and I've rbed other posts that talk more about this. But i want to say that people further minimizing petes songwriting by simply saying his songs are about mikey are just doing harm, whether or not they mean to or not. Being silly about bang the doldrums is one thing but saying songs like I've got all this ringing in my ears and none on my fingers are about mikey is :| dude (sorry first song that came to mind)

And above all. These are real people. You may be thinking "well you post weird stuff about mikey you have no room to talk" and that's a whole other can of worms but doing things like commenting under pete or mikeys or ppl associated's posts asking about p/tekey or tweeting at them or tagging them or generally attempting to directly ask or bring it up to them. Yeah thats fucked up. Constantly bringing up something that happened 17 years ago to p or m is not gonna make them talk about it. Asking them or publicly speculating about their sexualities isn't gonna make them talk about it either. From what I know, Mikey is not comfortable publicly disclosing his sexuality and frankly it isn't our business. Just in general stuff like shipping etc needs to be kept in fan spaces. I'm not anti p/tekey or anything obviously. I think it is fun. I feel like generally how people characterize the relationship and m and p in general (ex. How they are written in fic) is more based on fan knowledge than real life. Like how ppl characterize mikey as either a sexmaster or shy nerd, but obviously irl I'm sure mikeys personality can't be put in a box like that. It's like the way a lot of fans see band dudes is more like a fictional character than a person. I know that personally, i see a divide between the fan interpretation of mikey (basically the way we as fans characterize him based on the info and speculation we do have) and irl mikey, who we (im guessing) do not know personally. We don't know about his private life.

Basically people go too far and take the whole gay pete mikey thing too seriously and i dont like it. But i am just some rando on the internet so others may see it differently. Idk. Just my thoughts
