in the original script, Ezra says "For if we hold that equivalent exchange persists in this space then we must give something of ourselves in order to build something new..." now this line didn't make it into the movie, but I fully interpret this as Ezra loses his arm and Cee loses her father but they both then get to build something new (ie their bond, their new life together)

What do you think happened to Charlie during Emerald Twilight? Did he know what was going on or did his ring just suddenly not work while he's on some strange planet and now no way to get off, for like. Years.

oh theres actually an issue of quarterly (#3) that tells us what happened when the battery was destroyed the first time!! he was on a planet (Hwagaagaa) trying to stop an invading military force from taking over and he ignored the call to assemble bc he was busy, and then his ring cut out and he was stranded in the middle of a warzone with literally nothing, so he ran for his life and hid until some farmers found him and then bc gerard jones is gerard jones, charlie somehow teaches the farmers to become a fearsome military through the power of acting even though charlie is, lovingly, a bitch and a pussy. anyways these panels are interesting to me bc if you squint and ignore the author you can pretend that the subtext here is that charlie became an actor because he's running from himself and he wants to be someone better than he actually is but he chooses the escapism route instead of self-improvement which adds a layer to his alcoholism and dead brother guilt backstory

and this is where his bandanna comes from! its more of a cape but im ignoring that godbless

anyways they eventually repel the invaders through a war of attrition (the invaders go this sucks idc anymore and leave), and charlie roams around the planet teaching people about the wonders of Shakespeare. and then somehow he joins the darkstars so i guess he either got off planet somehow or john swung by and rescued him. and then he dies 👍

See I’m gonna watch the new Spidey cartoon cause I’ve watched all of them and most Spidey content except the MCU (I hate it so) but my main interest is what they are doing with Peter and Norman.

Like it’s not discussed but Peter has many father figures in his comics and adaptations and Norman has to be the most complicated one as even before Spidey it was always conflicting. Norman always has had a preference for Peter over Harry, seeing him as an idealized version of what his son should be. Peter on the other hand looks up to Norman for his accomplishments and confidence is always uncomfortable by how he ignores or shames his own son in comparison, respecting Harry too much to every act on the father son bond Norman tries to enforce.

Having Norman be a direct mentor figure along with his mortal enemy highlights this with something fresh as it’s not just something Peter does for Harry in trying to reason with the Green Goblin but for him as well as it’s not just Harry losing a fraternal figure.

#it would also explain why he was so desperate for a father figure in the mcu but uhhh #I don’t like the mcu for many reason people already stated but my issue with spiderman is they don’t feel like #just spiderman movies like it’s so closely tied to the other movies and iron man that I just can’t enjoy them as Spidey movies #spiderman #spider-man #peter parker #norman osborn #harry osborn #green goblin #marvel cinematic universe #mcu #marvel comics
