Stubbornly Hot-Headed
-----------------------------
Scenario:
Some people are really stubborn, but they pale in comparison to MC. Whose head is about as thick as a rock. Mix that with MC's anger issues, and we have a ticking time bomb. However only one person is able to reason with MC and that's their S/O.
-----------------------------
[OCTAVINELLE EDITION]
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto:
Azul is conflicted.
On hand he now has a third bodyguard, not that he particularly needs one.
But on the other hand, your constantly being hurt.
And on the other, other, hand you can cause a decline in his customers.
So he really is quite conflicted on your temperamental personality.
He did express these concerns to you after a lot of thought and anxiety.
And you do try your best to not be so quickly angered.
But when someone starts shit talking your boyfriend, you can only see red.
Everytime you get into a fight he makes sure to take care of your wounds whilst also lecturing you.
His favorite thing about you is probably your over protective and maybe even a bit possessive nature over him.
It has, on more than one occasion, made him blush as red as a tomato.
-----------------------------
Tumblr media
Jade Leech:
Oh good heavens.
Your on your own with this my dude.
You shall never now a moment of peace in your life ever again.
Why? You might ask.
Well I'll tell you.
Because Jade is going to spend all if his free time studying you.
Testing your limits seeing just how far you can go before you become enraged by him.
But thus experiment was swiftly pushed aside when he realized the toll it had on your mental health.
Despite his very scary, often violent, and apathetic behavior he does hold some empathy for others.
Although this empathy is only given to a chosen few.
Once he comes to the realization he's hurting you he immediately stops what he's doing and begins to apologize and comfort you.
After that he does his best to never upset you too much ever again.
He doesn't ever shy away from a chance at teasing you though.
He doesn't particularly mind you fighting others all the time, he just doesn't want to deal with the repercussions of the fights.
Like the other student wanting to fight you again for example.
He deals with those who seek out a second beat down from you and gives them what they want.
Although I'd say a beat down from him is a lot more dangerous than one from you.
He loves that resting bitch face that you have. It truly compliments your caring personality towards the people you love.
-----------------------------
Tumblr media
Floyd Leech:
Good luck my dude.
Because this man gives absolutely no fucks.
The moment he found out how much power he holds over you. You were done for.
He, like Jade, also loves to how far your patience with him can go before you start getting pissed off.
Turns out you don't get mad, you just cry.
Which is arguably worse in his opinion.
Once he found that out he makes sure never to take it too far.
Emphasis on too far becaIuse he's still gonna annoy you, that's just in his nature, but he won't go too far.
He prefers you to be laughing and or blushing not crying
If you get into a fight with another student he will gladly come fight with you.
A teacher will have to break up the fight because you and Floyd on the same team is very dangerous.
You both beat the shit out of everyone who dares to cross your paths.
If you get harmed during a fight he'll have Jade patch you up while he cuddles you from behind.
He finds your fighting face hot asf, and will often compliment you on it.
Which in turn makes you blush.

Ok more touching grass. I’m blocking people because I don’t intend to belabour this point with newbie activists but this is for the rest of you, for future reference.
We are all typing on phones and computers that are directly complicit in the genocide in the Congo. On an internet funded and infiltrated by US and Israeli spyware. Your lack of “silence” on either matter doesn’t erase your complicity.
When you mature your politic, you will come to realise that the true wickedness of this system is we are all put in ethical gridlocks and stalemates, which make doing the 100% pure thing, dangerous.
If you can get on here and not get fired for saying Free Palestine, especially anonymously, or under the cover of a lack of major influence, understand that is a privilege EARNED for you by generations of activists, who learned how to manage the risk of taking on this system by using nuance.
You think a man that marched against the Iraq War is complicit in this genocide because he is, IN YOUR DEFINITION, “silent” on it?
This is what I mean about a) controlling other people’s behaviour, and b) creating a false dichotomy of action that is antithetical to how the very system works. “Silence” was never meant to be a colloquial term when used with “complicity” - it is a systemic term. The silence of those with institutional power is complicity. Not miss ma’am at the coffee shop.
And THIS IS WHERE I REMIND YOU ONCE AGAIN - “celebrities” are Gig workers in an industry primarily funded and run by religious conservatives. Just because the industry says they’re liberals, doesn’t mean they are.
Movements work on consistency, and there are many ways to act. Demanding one way of action, and not providing any institutional power to back that demand other than “your disappointment” is reckless. This is not the stuff of movements that last. How are you planning to potentially support performers who’ve spoken on behalf of Palestinians, when all this is over and you’re back to drinking Starbucks? Will you care? Will you, once again, use your “lack of silence” (only one part of activism) to proclaim that you want to support them, or will you have tangible means to do so? I fucking doubt it. We don’t, even collectively, currently rival the support structure of the entertainment industry, that is run by religious conservatives - anyone that speaks out, is calculating their risk against their action.
Allow people to do their own fucking math, and if they haven’t been openly and brazenly fucking Zionist on main, give them the fucking benefit of the doubt. That’s what the adults/seasoned activists are doing. We have to see through the liberation of everyone, and that doesn’t happen by burning through everyone’s support systems at once.
This ain’t dick riding. This is me telling you to stop centering your “disappointment” on the internet, and keeping score about things that only move the needle by increments. This man, and his words, and your “disappointment” in him, in this moment, DOES NOT MATTER TO THE CAUSE. AT ALL. Get on the fucking phone and out on the streets like the rest of us. There are lives at stake and his part of his math, so he still has a voice to use in the long term, does not affect you at all if you’re truly here for the systemic change.
Tldr; His voice would be nice, but not at the cost of having his voice in the future. You dig?

The more I think about this scene, the more interesting it‘s the storytelling of it, how it ties the two day timeskip, and gives us more information on the group’s current dynamic.
After Mike‘s monologue with El we don‘t see them interact together almost at all, no heart-to-heart, no longer talk.
Pretty much the only interaction was in the hospital when El leaned against him for support. (In a similar fashing they show support to their other friends.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, with how this scene tells the audience what was happening on both sides:
Instead of El telling Lucas what happened (it would be to repetitive as we have seen it from El’s point of view), we have Lucas saying that “Max died. Her heart stopped. But then she came back. They say it’s a miracle.”
Tumblr media
Which makes the others look at themselves – meaning they know what El tried to do, how she tried to bring Max back, they talked about that, at least off camera.
Tumblr media
(Curious is how Mike and Will look at each other first, before the camera pans out to El).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the next time they have any sort of chat, it’s the scene where Will asks if El even talked to Mike at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which means that beside explaining what she tried to do, El didn’t talk much in the van with them (which is understandable because she’s going through grief, despair, all other emotions of losing to Vecna, and losing Max.)
What we know is El mentioned to Mike how Brenner thought she wasn’t ready, and that might have be why she couldn’t save Max.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will knowing that Max was saved thanks to El, meaning they know how she tried to save her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“She’s never lost before. Not like this.”
It’s just interesting to see how they purposely filmed another scene of Will and Mike talking, instead of showing us any talk between El and Mike, especially after his monologue to her.. ehm.
Instead we get these two talking close to each other again, being vulnerable, almost another heart-to-heart, and with Will immediately after this sharing he still feels Vecna in Hawkins.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Will could have say it before, any time after arriving to Hawkins, around Dustin, or with El and Mike and Jonathan in the van.
But he chose to share it with Mike and only him.
Even after pouring his heart out to Mike in the van in 4x8 - that was the way he protected himself so Mike would still be there for him as his best friend. If he had understood Will’s feelings more clearly, there was a chance (in Will’s eyes!) that he could have lost him.
But he still feels safe around him to open up, to share and be vulnarable about other important things (just like in season 2 when he had the vision of Mindflayer but said to Mike not to share it with others - “They wouldn’t understand.”, or with Dart - Will specifically trusted only Mike to share it with him first, that Dart was from the Upside Down).
And during the last scene we see them, standing side by side, with all the doom on the horizon. At that moment it was probably still only Mike that knew that Will could feel Vecna.

i remember right after the first ep came out, a lot of people in my non-tumblr circles saying of aemma’s death “why did they do that that wasn’t in the books how dare they ugh ugh ugh gross”
and yes
but also that why did they do that is something that’s sitting with me because i think we were all so used to the bar on got being so low that things like that were done to shock the viewer and nothing else.  and that’s not hotd’s play.
aemma’s death was setting the stage for eighteen different things—the explicit horror of it was intentional.  it echoes through the following episodes, the seed for what we’re seeing with alicent’s marital rape, with viserys never being able to understand that his “love” for the women in his life (aemma, rhaenyra, alicent) and his “i’m just trying to be a good guy” attitude is nothing more than a velvet glove over a punch that still hits just very hard: he treats the women in his life as pawns.  not just because king, but because that is who he is even in his most private and “human” moments with them.  he waffles and prevaricates and tells different truths to different people he cares about because he himself can’t face his own truths.
and all that is before we get to what’s yet to come, with rhaenyra’s own marriages and childbirths which will absolutely have important echoes of aemma’s death.
this show is highlighting in the most brutal possible way the misogyny of martin’s world. aemma’s death was more than just a plot point, more than just something to make us hide our faces and go “here’s this world again, back at it to horrify us and make us hurt”—it is echoing and reverberating.  it is the thesis statement of the whole show.  it wasn’t meaningless.  it was the point.

I'll admit that Chris Pratt as Mario was the one part of the trailer that didn't work for me, but everything else really did have quality to it. Jack Black had the perfect balance of threatening Bowser and campy Bowser, the animation was exactly what I'd hope a Mario movie would look like, and it's clear there's a lot of passion in the project, to the point where they even incorporated Mario creatures that aren't as well-known and mainstream. I don't think it deserves being entirely ragged on just thanks to one lackluster part.
I’m afraid I have to disagree! Chris Pratt Mario is easy to rag on because it’s exactly as awful as predicted and ties into an existing awful trend in current animated movies (also Chris Pratt sucks as a person), but I also think it's just ... the most obvious symptom of an issue strewn all throughout the trailer.
It lacks soul. Sure, the character models are up to the industry standard and the color work is very good and there’s nothing immediately artistically offensive about it, but it’s just so lackluster. The characters’ lines and body language are completely to-the-point, have no individuality or spunk, no flavor. There’s no word play, no slang (made up or real), no distinct speech patterns. All the characters’ lines sound like they came directly out of 11 other movies from the last decade. The body language accomplishes getting across some very basic emotions, but again, everyone moves the same, there’s no sauce on there, it’s just “character is scared,” “character is excited,” “character is surprised.” Bowser’s character acting while talking is also very awkward and janky (reminder that Hotel Transylvania, a similarly badly written but EXTREMELY well-animated CGI movie came out TEN YEARS AGO).
On the subject of Bowser, I also think Jack Black was a very poor choice for him. Yeah, he can do the voice rumble, but it has no depth, no reverberation. It’s generic.
It’s not just Chris Pratt Mario that sounds flat and lifeless, even though he is definitely the worst offender - everyone, from Toad to Luigi to the penguin guys at the beginning, all literally just sound like Some Guy.
Which becomes a problem when “tiny cute cartoon animal sounds like a grown human being” was supposed to be a joke at the beginning! The joke doesn’t land when every other character sounds like that and it’s not meant to be funny!
This being another problem. It’s not funny or has an interesting plot teased? They tried to crack some jokes, but they were regurgitating common cartoon gags that were done to death a decade ago. It was some Ice Age 4 style comedy. And with the generic plot threads introduced, the trailer really had nothing going for it except “please come look at our movie, it has some nice special effects!”
As for using lesser-known Mario characters ... I’m sorry to say, but that’s a really common marketing tactic for this era of big franchise movies. A really basic, generic plot front and center so newcomers to the franchise can keep up with the plot, with these little nuggets of “remember this obscure guy or thing?!” for longtime fans to point at and go “oh yes I remember that guy or thing!!” It isn’t evidence of passion, it’s evidence of the creators knowing how nerd fandom operates and taking advantage of people’s sincere affection for their favorite stories.
I love bad movies and I don’t fault anyone for being excited about the Mario movie, but it’s disheartening to see people hyping up these soulless cash grabs just because franchise movie creators have caught onto which levers to pull to make fans swallow their garbage without complaining too much.
It was the same thing with the Sonic movies. They have basically nothing to do with the Sonic franchise, even the main character is completely divorced from the thematic context he was born out of, but tons of people love it just because it’s superficially “heartwarming” and more or less manages to dodge some of the obvious problems of other family films in the same genre.
Again, I’m not saying no one’s allowed to like these movies. But how anyone can look at the Mario trailer or the Sonic movies and call them good adaptions ... is beyond me.
The Mario and Sonic games’ stories aren’t good because there’s a guy named Mario in overalls and a blue hedgehog named Sonic who save the day in each their silly little way, they’re good because of their unique themes and ideas. Mario’s story is appealing because it’s quirky, energized, full of weird places and weird people that are nothing like any big blockbuster movie. Sonic’s story is all about environmentalism and anti-capitalism! Sonic stands for a green future! These traits are the heart and soul of the franchises these movies are trying to adapt, it’s what makes them good, but mainstream movie producers don’t care about any of that. They just put the funny-looking guy on the screen, try not to piss off any parents or long-time fans too much, then wait for money to start rolling in.
Besides, Mario’s only two defining character traits are “Italian” and “plumber,” and I do think it says a lot that even getting those two things right was too much effort for Illumination. The sheer balls it takes to look at a massive franchise like Mario and decide to change 50% of the most recognizable traits of its main character are astounding. Maybe it would be stupid to trash the movie over a single miscast voice ... but when it’s the main character? When said miscasting takes away one of his two character traits? That’s not nitpicking, that’s identifying an underlying problem with the production process, that is, a lack of interest in the very franchise they’re trying to adapt.
Nintendo has more money than god. They should be able to get a hold of an animation studio that can do more than just make pretty special effects and look up obscure characters on a fan wiki.
I don’t want a Mario movie that’s more or less non-offensive, I want a Mario movie that’s good. I want a Mario movie that understands the property it’s adapting. We have got to stop patting big blockbuster movies on the back for doing the bare minimum.
