I'm kinda disappointed that there's so very few fics exploring the Core Transfer as an opportunity for Weird Shit happening.
Like, want it or not, JC is the single person in the world that successfully underwent an insane experimental medical procedure and how is that not something to explore? Wen Quing didn't supply a handy guide with negative effects, did she?
Imagine if the word got out that Sect Leader Jiang can unsheathe and use Suibian - gasp! Is he the reincarnated Yiling Patriarch?! That's why he was so bent on killing demonic cultivators, to hide himself?!
Or, hey, if somehow it got out that he has Wei Wuxian's core? Wouldn't demonic cultivators keep crawling out of the woodwork to get their hands on the core of their Idol? Wouldn't there be people ready to experiment on the only available specimen - people who lost their cores to Wen Zhuliu, or those who wanted to get cores without having to work for it, or people too old to start cultivating... There'd be plenty of folk ready and willing to discover how the Core Transfer works to achieve power.
Fuck, imagine JGY learning about it ahead of time and giving Changmei the go ahead to discover how Jiang Cheng regained his core? If they could work out how to melt cores and how to transplant them - the power in their hands would be insane!
Imagine Wei Wuxian coming back to life in a world where JC has been on the experimenting table for some time now, and one step of Huaisang's plan is for Wwx to discover it and save JC, and hope he will be able to testify...
(Jin Guangyao, feeling a bit sad as he visits the "lab" and seeing the co-parent of his child nephew, the man he learned to respect, the man he drank innumerable cups of tea with as they discussed and argued and gossiped across the tables in Lanling or Lotus Pier... Seeing the man strapped down to a stone table, cut open, mumbling nonsense as his loose hair drags over the floor, soaked in blood and carelessly stepped on as Changmei excitedly circles the table... It's a shame, truly.)
Or, the new core not sitting entirely right in the new cradle, some of the veins didn't connect right (Wen Quing was working fast, in a field, with one patient barely alive and the other actively dying, only her brother to help her, she couldn't catch every single strand!) and that results in some qi overflow. In effect JC radiates qi - the more he uses, the bigger the spill; the bigger the spill, the more ghosts and ghouls are drawn to him. The man is a walking ghost-flag. His Night Hunts go by fast, he steps into the forest and the monster of the month is already waiting. (That's why he was so annoyed at JL with the mountain hunt! What do you mean you can't find the ghost? Never happened to me! Sight, nets it is!) But Jin Ling loves hugging jiujiu, because it's always so warm...
I just - it's such a crazy premise, I need some off the wall take on itTT

Hi! I've read your jc's post and I find interesting how you framed jc and jyl's relationship. we don't have one single scene only about them (novel canon), because it's from wwx's pov mostly. So there's a lot of room for interpretations. For example, imo their relationship is almost quite balanced; jyl is much more a mother figure for wwx than she is for jc, because jc has a living mother, a mother he fiercely loves. jyl doesn't need to stress much about jc, because he doesn't give problems. At his worst, jc is a bitch. wwx, at his worst, is a BIG problem. Also the moment when jc says that jyl is the one who has to forgive jzx, not them, it's an important moment Imo, because it gives me the impression that he perceives her as a person and he respects her wishes. I would love to hear your interpretation about them and their relationship!
I agree with you, anon. Also, I've been thinking of this every day since you sent it. Thanks for the obsession.
Jiang Yanli is the only authority figure in Jiang Cheng's life who gently corrects him and encourages him to be better without damning him for having flaws. When Jiang Cheng kicks out Wei Ying, she is the one he knows will help him. She does so, and she encourages him to apologize and put Wei Ying's bed back in his room--which Jiang Cheng, it turns out, has already done. Whenever Jiang Yanli corrects him, he accepts her better judgement and never argues or feels unloved or compared to anyone. Jiang Yanli is, I think, a truly kind person, without whom the household would not survive.
Wei Wuxian tells Jiang Cheng to comfort Mianmian in the cave; and he says that Jin Ling looks like his mother only when he's crying, at which point Jiang Cheng defends and comforts him. I think Jiang Cheng was the one who comforted Yanli, while Wei Wuxian likely tried to distract her. Jiang Cheng can accept his people's negative emotions; Wei Wuxian almost seems to blame himself for them.
Jiang Yanli is the only person that we know Jiang Cheng is comfortable showing his softest side to. Therefore, she must be completely safe. If she teases him, it's gently and without malice; but I don't think she teases him. He privately suggests that Wei Wuxian give Jin Ling his courtesy name; Jiang Yanli shares this because she knows Wei Wuxian would feel loved by this gesture.
When YunmengJiang is in desperate need of allies, respectability, and funds, Jiang Cheng gently rebuffs Jin Guangshan's offer of a rekindled betrothal. He respects Jiang Yanli enough to make her own decision, and he values her more than political gain. She, in turn, trusts him to mean what he says; and I think she knows that Jiang Cheng would have supported her all her life in Lotus Pier if she could not find a love match.
In short, I think they were tied together very closely.
My personal headcanons include that she teaches him how to do non-cultivation things when he's overwhelmed, like cooking and needlework. Before he was old enough to understand why Yanli doesn't cultivate (which I accept CQL's suggestion that she's chronically ill), he tried to help her improve by giving her baby lessons on meditation. I think that Jiang Cheng is a deep well into which secrets can be shared without fear, and I think he was safe for her to express her more filial negative opinions. I think she was the safest person to tell any positive, delicate feelings to.
Baby Jiang Cheng followed her around like a duckling. After she married, he must have visited dozens of times. Through her, Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan were able to understand each other better; as you may have seen in my recent chengning ficlet, I think that happy year ended with Jiang Cheng privately calling him Zixuan-ge.
All she wanted to be truly content was for her a-Xian to come home. Jin Zixuan and Jiang Cheng tried to make it happen for her. Because who wouldn't want to make her happy?

does Jin Guangyao play a villainous role in Wei WuXian’s story? yes. but is he also the Narrative’s special boy? also, yes.
I don’t remember the post, but the fact that Wei Wuxian, and by extinction, the narrative sympathizes with Jin Guangyao has already been brought up. He draws a comparison between himself and JGY when the crowd suddenly turns against JGY in Lotus Pier and wants WWX to deal with him, and again when the other Sect Leaders led by Sect leader Yao assume that the Guanyin statue is made to resemble JGY himself ‘cause he’s a narcissist, and when people are saying nasty things about JGY in a tavern after his death.
but another way in which the narrative sympathizes with JGY is that every time JGY is shown doing a shitty thing, it’s immediately followed by him being shown in a situation in which he is a victim, or has done something good.
he paralyzes Qin Su after she finds out some horrible truths about him and hides her in the creepy room where WWX finds JGY’s sworn brother’s head? A chapter or an episode after that we see him being trash-talked and cast out by other Nie soldiers when they’re drinking the water he brought, while he’s doing thrice the work they’re doing. we see him cleaning the battlefields and helping the commoners after battles, we see him voluntarily do the work of the servants as a deputy general when they lack staff, and pour people tea, while they rudely clean their cups when they take it from his hands (which NMJ does nothing about), we see him loyally arguing with LXC that he can't leave NMJ for his father’s sect after all NMJ has done for him, and learn that he has saved LXC. CQL shows him in his Meng Yao Era more. We see him repeatedly receive scorn when all he gives others is curtsey and smiles, we see beforehand the Nie Captain be an absolute bitch to him so I'm sure nobody in the audience regretted his loss, but even then we immediately get that jumping in front of NMJ and taking a stab to the chest to save him, and the teary banishment scene that cancels the "guy is now officially a scheming murderer" out.
He's being a bitch to NMJ in the Nightless City? He kills Wen Ruohan & turns out that he has been bravely spying for the Sunshot campaign all this time and they owe him their victory. But even then, he apologizes to NMJ, kneels down, and surrenders himself.
He's protecting Xue Yang? You have him explaining to NMJ why he can't go against his father's wishes, and how he's scared of everything and everyone because he was never given the luxury of safety, status & power, so he can practice that power freely. In the end, NMJ offends his mother and kicks him down the stairs (which he's well aware is a trauma for JGY). Which honor-bound ancient man wouldn't have killed the man who disrespected his mother and kicked him down the stairs? What would have NMJ done had this been done to him? But even then, in the book, the narrative does even more to make JGY sympathetic, LXC comes to NMJ to calm him down, and he says that JGY's in a difficult situation right now. His stepmother beats him & his father doesn't listen to anything he says anymore. Otherwise, he wouldn't have talked back to NMJ. & after that, NMJ's qi deviation happens when he drops eaves on this conversation between LXC & JGY:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean if you've tried to murder him thrice, shoved him down the stairs, & called him a whoreson, taken any opportunity to scold him, & you don't like it when he talks back to you, at least let him talk behind your back. He's not even lying or being disrespectful or anything.
He retaliates against WWX & LWJ’s attack by showing WWX as a villain and the way he has killed NMJ comes to light? a few chapters later WWX is surprised that JGY hasn’t visited LXC to demand a search but to tell him that he has prevented everyone from searching the CR and thinks it’s best if LXC, whenever it’s convenient for him opens the doors of the CR so JGY can get this search over with and shut the other sects up. And reassures him that he won’t let LWJ’s reputation be tarnished in any way. (At the stairs of Jinlintai, JGY knew fully well that LWJ was doing what he was doing because he was in love with WWX, as we learn at the Guanyin temple, but he loudly suggested that LWJ is being deceived in front of the crowd to save LXC's brother reputation.) The Donghua even has a wartime flashback from a young Meng Yao saving LXC, feeding him, hiding him, washing his clothes, getting beaten up by the Wen soldiers to keep LXC safe, and even then bringing back food for him with a smile.
He takes everyone hostage, twice (his hostages are children the first time) and is at the peak of his villain moment? You have the whole Guanyin temple thing happening. (which, personally for me, was what really elevated him from an interesting character to my poor little mew mew in my eyes.)
When JGY kneels down, WWX feels uncomfortable. He feels embarrassed on his behalf:
Tumblr media
the same effect of inducing pity & sympathy for him is achieved in the show by somber music swelling in this scene, reaction shots, slow-mo, and a wide-shot of everyone in the temple as JGY kneels down to make him look especially small, while almost 2/3 of the shot is of the candles of the Guyanin temple. in the exposition scene when LXC kneels down to hear JGY out, the statue of Guanyin is between them. THE LOCATION OF ALL OF JGY TRAGIC EXPOSITIONS IS A GYANYIN TEMPLE! The temple of the bodhisattva of mercy who is considered to be the physical embodiment of compassion!
And the sympathetic reaction shots when he talks about JGS continue throughout the scene.
then we learn that he had to marry Qin Su because she was already pregnant and he didn’t want QS & JRS to have his and his mother’s fate and that the reason they had to rush things through like this and conceive a child was that JGS might have further caused problems for their marriage because he really disliked his son. and that if a political fall-out happened between Jin & the Qin clan, JGY would get the burn of it. (still a shitty act, but you can’t help but understand where he’s coming from & pity him), he goes on about his father kicking him down the stairs of Jinlintai on his birthday while celebrating JZX’s birthday, we learn about his childhood in the brothel, about JGS saying that he could save Meng Shi but he didn’t ‘cause she would be too much trouble, and that their son wasn’t worth mentioning, we see JGY & SMS deep connection, the show gives us some very good Xiao Shushu & A-Ling moments, & even though it’s been always clear & is especially clear during the whole Guanyin temple scene, we see truly see the depth of love, respect, and loyalty JGY has toward LXC.
We see him in the Villainous Friends chapter telling Xue Yang that he can vandalize people's shops and restaurants for no reason, only under the condition that he doesn't wear the Jin uniform. But it's immediately followed by the mention of the bruise on his head given to him by his stepmother because she can't vent her anger on her cheating husband, who JGY has to retrieve from brothels every night to ensure his safe stay in Jinlintai for another day. We see him massacre the He sect, and right after that, he goes to retrieve his father from the brothel and hears those awful things and you can't help but sympathize with him.
Because what is really important is that you understand Jin Guangyao. There are about 14 chapters in the book and 4 episodes in the show of JGY explaining himself while crying on the floor because it's less about "Jiggy eVIL" & more about look what the society who turned his back on him & his mother when they needed their help, and sneered at them when they tried to improve their situation, and never forgave JGY for being born has done to this man to make him do such horrendous deeds. (And his sword's name is Hensheng. Meaning "hate to be born". They made him never forgive himself for being born either.)
So by saying that X & Y has happened to JGY, and so what he does is for self-preservation, nobody's JUSTIFYING his genocides, & nobody's denying that JGY had a choice in everything he did. Even if his other option was to accept his place, sit down, shut up, and suffer in silence, NOT murdering a whole sect that includes children by doing experiments on them is the better option. The point is that it's not the point. JGY's atrocities are only means in the story to tell the cautionary tale of a classist, cruel society. The things that JGY has gone through cannot be erased from the conversations because "JGY EvIl. Periodt." The Narrative doesn't want the reader to do that! It's specifically structured to put the reason JGY's got to this point on the forefront every time he does a crime. The fight with NMJ's fierce corpse ends as quickly as it begins. The Climax of the story is mostly JGY's monologues. 14 chapters of monologues cannot be dismissed as JGY gaslighting LXC & shedding crocodile tears.
in a story that has Wei WuXian as a protagonist, and literally starts with the monster the society has made of him through rumors and has this theme going on through the rest of the story, especially with JC, and baseless accusations are the first thing that happens when JGY's secrets are out in the Lotus Pier, and then ends with society making a monster out of JGY after his death through rumors when Sect Leader Yao speculates that the statue's face is modeled after JGY himself (which WWX especially comments on), and in the tavern when people made such crude remarks that even those who were participating in the conversation felt uncomfortable, I think it's clear what and who the real villain is.
MXTX could have written people talking about literally any real atrocity that JGY has done, but instead, they talk about what he hasn’t done and read the worst out of his every action in life.
And actually, with everything that JGY has been through, he’s not even the worst case that could come out of his situation. He did have good intentions. For all his genocides, unlike Xue Yang, he didn't actually want to see the world burn. He did help the innocent common folk. He helped them during the sunshot campaign, and with the watchtowers, he fought against systematic corruption, and he treated everyone with respect. He rescued LXC and QS. We don’t know how many others he has personally saved. It's that the means he had to use to have the power to help the poor was incredibly dirty because he was playing an unfair game that was especially designed against him. (I'm not saying helping the poor was his only objective when he tried to gain his father's approval and a secure place in Jinlintai for himself. Though it's sad that he had to fight for these things at all.) The best he could honorably do was be NMJ's deputy general, which didn't save him from being bullied and people cleaning the cups they took from his hands. He knew that if he tried to help the innocent without having the political power to do that, he would end up like WWX. But what he didn’t know was that he would end up like that if he, unlike WWX, played by the rules of the game and compromised his morals anyway. There was no winning for people like them.
Dismissing the good that JGY has done, the real desire he had for helping the poor, and what he’s been through cheapens the character, cheapening JGY’s character to a one-dimensional Marvel villain, and dismissing the commentary that he represents on society as a whole is a disservice to the story. And that’s a crime cause the story is great.
his fall from grace, the heinous acts he had to commit to find himself the slightest bits of safety, security, and respect wouldn’t be that much of a tragedy if he didn’t want to be good and do good for people.
Then there is JGY's death and the framing of it. Here is a wonderful analysis by @sapphicdalliances of why his death wasn't justice and that was the point, how he died because of an act he didn't commit, and here are great analysis by @thatswhatsushesaid & @crithir about how his death is described as a gut-wrenching horrible scene framed through his horrified nephew & ward's eyes, both in the book and in the show, how it didn't bring the Nie brothers any closure either, and how through the lenses of LXC and JL, and by JC’s & WWX’s reaction we see his death as a tragedy.
Tumblr media
His death is because of a dishonorable trick. His last act in life, pushing LXC away is an act of love and of forgiveness. In the CQL before that, he pushes Jin Ling out of danger, too.
As said in the aforementioned posts, after it, we don't see a victorious Nie Huaisang or Wei WuXian. In fact, neither of them is victorious.
WWX, and by extension, the narrative blames NHS for his scheming & risking innocent lives. WWX is especially appalled by NHS' treatment of Meng Shi's body. He points out that JGY, being a big liar with a considerable criminal record, will be forever accused of lying, no matter what. While he immediately after brings JGY's last genuine act toward LXC as proof that JGY couldn't have been lying.
Tumblr media
In the CQL, he straight-up calls NHS the devil with the coldest tone he's ever had towards NHS.
NHS for his part doesn't seem victorious either.
Dare I say he even looks like despite years of scheming he was not ready for it when JGY pushes Shuoyue deeper inside his own chest. (Who would he be acting for at that moment? Nobody's looking at him. And he’s sweating!)
Tumblr media
And I think there's a "no, he didn't" in his last "I don't know." To LXC (at least in the show) when he's insistently asked whether JGY was going to attack LXC or not and he insistently answers "I don't know". It's a confirmation without confirmation.
Tumblr media
And then in, IMHO, one of the most beautiful and nuanced scenes, NHS finds A-Yao's hat, in the book, he bends down, picks it up, and quietly goes away (and that's the last we see of Nie Huaisang), in the show he wipes off the dust on it, and his hand finally gets bloodied, literally & metaphorically despite trying his best to not do his dirty work himself. And we get a flashback of A-Yao's childhood that I always assumed we're seeing through NHS because maybe JGY had told him that story. Not only does the order of the scene, combined with NHS' deep in thought look seem like it but also NHS cleans JGY's hat when in that memory A-Yao's mom tells him that he needs to take good care of his hat.
And that scene is especially beautiful because the show went out of its way to show their close relationship pre-time skip. And we see NHS keep A-Yao's principal by cleaning his hat when JGY himself is too dead to do that. Even when the reason for his death is NHS himself. And by NHS getting his hands bloodied while cleaning the hat, and staring at it with a deep, nuanced look, that combination of care & hatred is shown in that scene.
I think he feels empty. He's spent years after years planning this thing. It was his only drive. Now it's over. And it wasn't a grand, victorious moment. It just...happened. and it was something that needed to happen, in his eyes.
And he did love his san-ge for a long, long time before the betrayal came to light for him. And then he hated him for a long, long time. But at that moment with JGY's bloodied hat in his hand? I think that's the moment when love and hatred have both run their passionate course and they've finally reached each other in the middle and collided and ran out of strength and intensity and separate, clear meaning and they just take their exhausted leave together, leaving only a trace behind.
And most prominently we see a devastated LXC and JL. We see Jin Ling's flashback of when his Xiao Shushu gave him his spiritual puppy. We see him being the only one who could cheer JL up when he was down for days.
We see JL choosing to keep loving him despite everything.
His loss is felt and the memory of his good deeds keeps coming back in JL's narrative:
Tumblr media
The Narrative doesn't just sympathize with him. The Narrative mourns him.

When I first knew mdzs, I saw the takes that stated wwx did not love lwj equally. Personally I felt they wanted wwx was the only one that got chased after and somehow they make one get loved but do not give the love to other. So I really wanted to tell you how I am so happy to know and read your metas that show details into wwx's love. Thank you.
WWX love LWJ so much start from his first life. WWX cherishes and values his LWJ. Their love to each other is mutual and equal.
Hi Anon,
Thank you for your lovely comments 🥰 I'm glad my meta makes you happy ❤️
I agree with you wholeheartedly! I noticed a lot of the fandom insinuating that their love was rather one sided and I found it very strange - which is why I wrote some of the meta on my blog. WWX's crush on LWJ is practically screaming off the pages in some of the scenes, even when he was younger! It's just utterly adorable!
It's quite funny that some people think WWX was the one who was "chased after" - because it's actually most definitely the other way around. WWX was the one chasing after LWJ, calling his name, getting upset when he was rejected and trying to get his attention any way he could. WWX was relentlessly pursuing LWJ, whether he understood his feelings at the time or not. He got LWJ little gifts, invited him to come and stay at Lotus Pier and even asked him on numerous occasions to come to a local restaurant with him while he was at the CR as a teenager.
"...Back then I’ve invited you to dine out together before. How passionately I tried! You were the one who refused to go. Every time I talked to you you’d glare at me, and everything you said started with a ‘no’. I’ve really met so many obstacles..."
Chapter 116
"...I took them to that Hunan cuisine at Caiyi Town… The exact one you never agreed to go no matter how much I tried to persuade you…"
Chapter 120
I particularly love the two extracts above, because they really show us just how much WWX (subconsciously) tried to court LWJ when they were younger! Especially as in hindsight, WWX knows what his true intentions and feelings were when he was inviting LWJ places all those years ago. We later get further confirmation of WWX's understanding of his feelings back then, in the Dream Come True extra chapter as well.
It astounds me that people can't see WWX's feelings for LWJ in his first life. MXTX has literally written a number of scenes centered around WWX and his pining - including the Lotus Seed Pod extra. Even in the main novel, she wrote the archery competition not just as a little scene where WWX pulled on LWJ's forehead ribbon - but to show us how much of a crush WWX still had on LWJ, even after not seeing him for a whole year.
Of course, that's not to diminish any feelings LWJ has for WWX. Poor LWJ was under the impression that WWX was not interested in him in that way (or indeed men) and that WWX just flirted with everyone. Which is quite funny, because if LWJ hadn't been blinded by jealousy, he might have noticed WWX didn't act that way with anyone else. He was certainly the only man he paid any attention towards in such a way and he never chased after any of the girls he charmed either. Even in WWX's second life, LWJ did not actively pursue him because he was under the impression WWX did not return his feelings. He was just happy to have WWX alive once more and be a part of his life, any way he could.
If WWX did not love LWJ as much as LWJ loves him, WWX wouldn't be as blissfully happy as he is at the end of the novel. It's even more apparent in the extras, where we see the loving and intimate post honeymoon life they have established together as a married couple. They are both truly devoted to each other, no one loves more or less than the other - they are equal in every sense of the word. That is the beauty of their relationship.

for all the flirting and stuff pre time skip wex wasn't undyingly in love with lwj. that opens him up to other people. wq and him built a settlement together, and most definitely were in love. they're good for each other in a larger than life sense . he could not have married anyone else.
that anon does have a point where lwj and wwx wouldn't have worked out regardless and a marriage of convenience would have solved the problems. we even see that in cql,, i think there's a good fic by shanastoryteller that shows exactly this too.
Anon. Anon, anon, anon. Why the everloving fuck do you think I would read a mediocre hack of a "fanfic" author who can't get characterization right to save her life and scams her readers by getting them to buy updates to when she's working on fic? ShanaStoryteller is a hack of an author who should move on to original fiction because as a fanfiction author, she's pretty terrible at it. ShanaStoryteller has no respect for the world she writes in and I have no respect for her.
So let me debunk the stupid fanon you've dropped in my inbox this morning so that maybe this time you'll get the hint and move on. Mess with the Sangsang and you get the Peerless Cucumber.
Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian are not a romantic ship in any actual canon version of Modaozushi. Not even CQL. At best they are like siblings, in most cases they are just allies against inevitable doom. Could not have married anyone else? Why would he want to marry Wen Qing? Where in any one single line does he suggest that this is ever a thing on his mind?
A marriage of convenience would have saved them? Hah! Don't make me laugh. I'm sorry that you've so bought into Shana's fanon that you've forgotten the reason why they end up in the Burial Mounds to begin with is because Jiang Cheng won't protect them. What does Wei Wuxian marrying Wen Qing do? Absolutely nothing other than lock him into a marriage he doesn't ever want. Jiang Cheng's conditions for Wei Wuxian going back to Lotus Pier are very simple: Ditch all the Wens back in the slaughter camps and slink back alone. Marrying her saves no one. Jiang Cheng would do nothing and Wei Wuxian lacks the social power to do anything more than what he does already in canon.
As for the downright hilariously wrong claims that Wen Qing would have made him happier than Lan Wangji, this just proves to me that you don't understand any of the characters involved. Wei Wuxian does not want someone like Wen Qing. Wei Wuxian is not looking for a marriage at any point until the person in question is Lan Wangji. In the book the first time he ever mentions anything like that is asking Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu in the Yunmeng Ancestral Hall to save Lan Wangji for him because he is the first and only person Wei Wuxian has ever even thought of that way.
And then your dismissal of Wangxian not working...well obviously I can't convince you to ship what I like, just as you can't convince me to believe in your pack of idiocy, but also there's a reason why they are the main romance and there's nothing that even comes close to competing with them. From the beginning they are compatible, but unaware of how to connect. Life gets in the way, but they never stop thinking well of each other and wanting to have things work better between them because they like each other. That is the cornerstone of any romance right there. You have to like each other. Wouldn't have worked out in any way? It took Wei Wuxian being dead for thirteen years to keep them apart for as long as it did. When they actually get the chance to spend time together at all? They get married in two months. That's how much they like each other. That's how likely they are to get together.
Wen Qing and Wei Wuxian lived on top of a corpse infested, resentment filled mountain for a year and nothing happened at all. Wen Qing built the settlement for the rest of her family while Wei Wuxian was the snarling guard dog on the outside. Only at the end of her life does she release him from the debt she invoked on him, presumably with the expectation that he will leave and take A-Yuan with him because all of the adult Wens have known all along they're living on borrowed time and eventually it's going to run out. It isn't a happy farming family, it isn't a peaceful settlement. It is a barricade against the inevitable. What's romantic about that? What's salvageable about that?
This is why I kinda hate stories where everyone lives and makes a happy life there. It's not a happy time, everyone's just scraping by one more day at a time, watching the sand in the hourglass run out aside from the toddler who they are trying to keep from feeling this same sense of dread. Outside of the farms and the ramshackle houses the corpses and spirits still wander and it's a miserable place to be. The Burial Mounds/Mass Grave Hills/Luanzang Gang is the place where some of the most miserable times of Wei Wuxian's life happened, do you really think he'd want to start a life and a family there? He goes there because it is a necromancer's paradise and the only place he can think of where he has the direct advantage against the Jin and the Jiang and the Nie and the Lan coming up to siege him. He does not go there to make a home, he goes there to make a threat.
Anon, just let it go. You can like ShanaStoryteller if you'd like, I won't stop you from doing that. But I refuse to read her crappy, out of character fics, I refuse to kowtow to your thinly veiled homophobia of "Wei Wuxian wouldn't ever be happy with Lan Wangji, he should marry a woman instead", I refuse to stop insulting her works when you show up in my inbox to cry about it and I suggest that you very kindly fuck off.
If you return again, I will block you. You have your corner of the fandom, get the everloving fuck out of mine.

Do you think wwx is a bad or good cook?
i think he is probably an ok cook? we are told that his food is far too spicy for others, but not that its badly made in any other way.
there is also that little scene in dream come true about him burning a hole in a pan & being chased out of lotus pier's kitchen.
'Wei WuXian responded, his expression serious this time, “I’m sorry. I was just too happy. Lan Zhan, how come you’re so good at everything? You’re amazing even when it comes to cooking!”
His praise was of utmost sincerity. Lan WangJi had heard countless compliments from when he was a child, but not a single one of them were able to make it so hard to stop the corners of his lips from blooming into a smile. He only pretended to be calm, “It was no difficult task.”
Wei WuXian, “No. It is. You don’t know how many times I’ve been chased out of the kitchen.”'
but i think this is not that straightforward.
in context, wwx had just teased lwj about how he wouldn't be able to cook (wwx assumes) due to his upbringing & taste. but he then learns that not only does lwj intend to cook for him, but he had also done so before and wwx hadn't eaten much or been able to appreciate it as much as he would have wanted to if he'd known! wwx was reeeeeally desperate for lwj to cook for him, absolutely thrilled at the idea, so he heaps praise upon lwj. when lwj insists its nothing, wwx insists that it is, after all, he's so bad at it, he was even chased out of the kitchen. so i think wwx here was mainly just really wanting to make sure lwj knew that he really appreciated him cooking for him, esp after teasing him before. i think he exaggerates how bad his skills were here, afterwards he backtracks a little and says he just burned a hole in a pan one time.
lwj wants to make sure he can cook things wwx will like, but he doesn't really want to tell wwx he made the food because he doesn't want him to pretend to like it out of obligation. while wwx wants to eat it specifically because lan zhan made it, and he genuinely would love it even if it tasted bad, just because it was lwj who made it. they're so cute lol.
also
'Lan WangJi, “What did you put inside the pan?”
Wei WuXian thought about it for a moment, smiling, “How could I remember something from so long ago so clearly? Forget about it.”
Lan WangJi didn’t comment, but he seemed to have slightly lifted his brow. Wei WuXian pretended as though he didn’t notice the minuscule expression. Suddenly recalling something, he threw his hands up in regret, “But back then why didn’t you tell me you were the one who made them? I was an idiot. I didn’t even eat all that much.”'
it seems like there is more to this burning a hole in a pan story than wwx was letting on. i suspect he was actually up to some kind of mischief back then lol
anyway, i got off track. it seems wwx might cause some chaos in the kitchen, and his food is too spicy for others, but other than that we're not told that his food is bad.
not that it matters either way, because he definitely won't have to cook again for the rest of his life haha

For the mzds oc (whose name fell out of my brain whoops): how do you feel about WWX’s resurrection?
(!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so excited to answer this one dkjgfhkjh i haven't done much with her yet! and her name is Lei Bao 雷豹, courtesy name Wuying 乌撄!)
(Lei Wuying is, for those unfamiliar with her, the head disciple of YunmengJiang post Wei Wuxian's death. She was one of the very few juniors to survive the Fall of Lotus Pier, and so remembers what it was like to learn from him, and remembers what it was like when Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan were in charge.)
Lei Wuying sighs and makes a face, torn between some kind of aggravation and frustration and fondness, even now. "It's been strange," she admits. "He was my hero when I was young, and even after everything happened - I know why he had to leave us, I do, I get it. He was protecting us. He never stopped protecting us. But I was still a kid when he left - I was. I didn't think it at the time, because I'd just been a person of authority during a fucking war, but I was still a kid, and he was my hero, and when he left it hurt. I didn't like feeling like I wasn't good enough for him, like our sect wasn't good enough for him, even though I knew that wasn't why he left. And when he died... sorry, I don't really like talking about Nightless City, even this many years later."
She shrugs and runs a hand over her forehead - there's cinnabar ink on her fingers, and it leaves a streak across her face. "Anyway, as for the actual question - it was always like there was a ghost in Lotus Pier, if I'm honest with you. Jiang-zongzhu wouldn't ever admit it, but with how much time he spent hunting down any rumor that da-shixiong returned, and the fact that no one really dared mention him within the walls... da-shixiong's ghost was there in all the ways he wasn't there, if that makes sense. And I've always been more reliant on talismans than my peers, because of his influence, and so I taught that to my disciples once I took this position. But none of us ever expected da-shixiong to come back."
A laugh, and then, "Though of course, if anyone was going to do it, it'd be him, just to piss Jiang-zongzhu off. I think it'd feel less strange that he's back if I'd had the chance to speak to him, honestly. The only time I've seen him is during that impromptu conference here in Lotus Pier shortly after the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, and he was paying more attention to Hanguang-jun than anyone else at the time. He looked happy, though, and I think - now that I'm older, I think that's the best I can want for him." She sighs, a little rueful, and says, "Now that I'm an adult with my own juniors to look after, I realize that Wei Wuxian isn't a hero, or a devil, or anything like that. He's just another person. And if he needs to join GusuLan to be happy, then I'll be glad for him.
".... I'm still going to try and meet him at the next Discussion Conference, if Jiang-zongzhu takes me along. I want to compare talisman designs. He's not the only talisman inventor in the jianghu anymore. That's what he gets for being dead for thirteen years."

CQL Headcanon
Lan Wangji hasn’t seen Wei Wuxian since they bid their goodbye’s on that cliff in Gusu. It’s been three years since then. He’s not expecting his next meeting with wwx to be at a cultivation conference in Lanling. As a disciple of the Jiang sect; as Jiang Cheng’s right hand man, carrying both Suibian and Chenqing and wearing the jade lotus bell on his belt. Jiang Cheng introduces him as his brother and a senior disciple of the sect.
Wei Wuxian cultivates his new core the same way he cultivated his old one with the Jiang sect, his brother helping him every step of the way.
“I only have this core because of you, so I’m going to do everything to make yours stronger so shut the fuck up and get back to training”
Lwj is still chief cultivator so he goes to lotus pier whenever possible to see wwx.
Wwx wants his two remaining baby brothers to get along so he forces wen ning and jc into situations where they have to work together.
Wen Ning becomes the archery teacher at Lotus Pier so now the junior disciples of TWO major sects follow him around like ducklings.
When lxc comes out of seclusion, lwj hands the mantle of chief cultivator and sect leader over to him.
Bonus: ”Lan Zhan, come back to Yunmeng with me” and he goes.

hey plan! as i continued my scrolling through twitter (thinking that there might be some accurate representation of the rotted grape, but *sigh* can still find any) i found this post instead and can i ask your opinion of this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i just felt so mad reading this. them thinking that jc wanted to "protect" wwx is so dumb?? like didn't jc want wwx to let him go back to the sect because he didn't want to deal with the wens who he OWES HIS LIFE TO?? and then these clowns saying wwx pUbLiCly hUmiLiaTed jc like didn't jc humiliated himself because orchestrated the death of his saviors?? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE GRAPE LOVERS because without wwx wn & wq's combined help, your UwU sAd bAbY gRaPe would be coreless and probably DEAD (sorry if it got long because of my rant here but i truly do want to hear your opinion on this)
and i present this art i found on twitter where wwx calls out jc for being a homophobe https://twitter.com/farisaki/status/1445458768322445325?t=mWTeCTAE3HMmwtfZ9ZbiDg&s=19
haha I'm sorry to say but your first mistake was continuing to scroll through twitter. -2/10 do not recommend
Like far be it from me to dampen the enthusiasm of this person trying to reinvent the wheel w their groundbreaking think piece, but wtf are they talking about. Honestly I remember some other beacon of wisdom saying: "how come WWX was so dumb and didn't just kidnap a random Wen soldier and make WQ use their core for the transfer?"- like they didn't grasp that the whole thing hinged on the willing participation of the donor. Same here.
Wei Wuxian knew jiang cheng's character very well. At worst he's always seen the jiangs through rose tinted lenses. So while WWX would know very well jc wouldn't actively help him save the Wens since nothing in their past half lifetime of knowing each other had ever shown jc to give two fucks about helping people, he probably only didn't imagine jc would leave him with no option to help them other than defection. AND MAKE NO MISTAKE, jc didn't bring any compromise to the table that included saving the Wens other than for WWX to cut ties with the Clan. jc doesn't help the Wens because he DOESN'T WANT TO not because he can't. WWX makes it clear that the reason he's defecting isn't because he wants to but because he doesn't want to involve YunmengJiang and jc agrees. "“Jiang Cheng’s tone was indifferent, “Then let’s arrange for a duel.” jc's "compromise" was I'll destroy Wen Ning for you, and turn in the rest of the Wens- that jc in his own words called “the old, the weak, the women, and the children.”- to their death or you're out on your ass and WWX understood him.
“Jiang Cheng, “You burn this corpse right now and return to them all these leftovers of the Wen Sect. That’s the only way to make the subject die!” As he spoke, he raised his sword again, preparing to attack.”
“However, Wei WuXian clenched his wrist, “Are you joking?! If we return Wen Qing and the others to them, they’d meet nothing but a dead end!”
Jiang Cheng, “I doubt you’ll even return all of them. Why do you care what kind of end they meet? A dead end it is, then—what does it have to do with you?!”
Lmao- "I NEVER see this take. That WWX acted like a rogue agent" yes you absurd, classist, intellectual dead zone, bc it's a ridiculous take that the story does not intend any reader with a modicum of understanding or empathy to take. The author thought surely people will GET why it's nifty of WWX to want to save these innocent, vulnerable people: these nice siblings that helped them, this sweet Granny, this cute toddler etc. jc himself doesn't disagree that they owe the Wens a debt!
“Wei WuXian finally lost his temper, “Jiang Cheng! What- What do you think you’re talking about?! Take it back—don’t make me give you a thrashing! Don’t forget. Who was the one that helped us burn Uncle Jiang’s and Madam Yu’s corpses? Who returned to us the ashes that are in Lotus Pier right now? And who took us in when we were chased after by Wen Chao?!”
Jiang Cheng, “I’m the one who fucking wants to give you a thrashing! Yes, they helped us before, but why in the world don’t you understand that right now any remnant of the Wen Sect is a target of criticism!”
These people are somehow more self absorbed than jc. So pathetically selfish they can't even stand altruism and heroism in a fucking fantasy novel.

The prompt is: continuation to the WWX returns as Qinsu situation! I would really like to see LWJ's reaction? Like, he knows it's WWX, but who hes seeing is a small woman, wearing Jiang sect colors and she's so delicate, but he can see, not only by the music he heard, but also her smiles and the hair framing her face. And ofc, the way JC acts around her, how he talks to her and he wouldn't talk to other women like that and the overprotection? Weird. So LWJ knows, his soulmate and he talks to her
sequel to this
Lan Wangji received many letters.
Small sects all over the cultivation world presumed to know him based on a single meeting while others prevailed on his reputation alone to write to him and ask for assistance – that was the unifying theme of the letters. They wanted something from him. His talent, his connections, his willingness to exert himself on behalf of others…something.
He’d never gotten a letter like this before.
Jiang Cheng was the leader of a Great Sect. He didn’t need anything from Lan Wangji that he couldn’t get elsewhere, and on top of that they didn’t much like each other. And yet here he was, asking Lan Wangji to come to the Lotus Pier, to come quickly, and to tell no one where he was going.
One might suspect some sort of trap, except – Lan Wangji really did know Jiang Cheng, whether his handwriting or the careless way he put his words, and he thought that the letter was sincere.
He was being asked for something, yes, but he had no idea what.
So he went.
He hadn’t gone more than a few dozen li before he realized that he had company.
“You were not invited,” he told Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi, both of them blinked at him as if they’d never done anything wrong in their lives and that he was clearly just temporarily mistaken about the nature of their endeavor. The fact that he was perfectly well aware that they weren’t allowed out of the Cloud Recesses without appropriate supervision, which they currently lacked, was omitted out of courtesy. “You should go back.”
“Hanguang-jun is very generous with his time,” Lan Jingyi said, honey-sweet. “Offering to escort us back and all.”
Lan Wangji sighed and turned his face towards the Lotus Pier. Jiang Cheng had spoken of haste and secrecy – he would need to prioritize one over the other, as returning to the Cloud Recesses now would mean that he’d get drawn in with questions of punishment of the two disobedient children behind him and other sect matters, and likely not be able to set out until well into the next day, if that.
And he was, by this point, extremely curious.
“Very well,” he finally said, and ignored the way the two of them hugged each other in glee. “You may accompany me. Your punishment will be doubled upon our return.”
They did not seem particularly concerned by that.
It took some time to reach the Lotus Pier from the Cloud Recesses, even when flying on a sword, and with two juniors along it took even longer than he had expected he would need. Still, he assured himself that Jiang Cheng would not take the time to write to him – to him – without accounting for the possibility of such delays; if the matter was truly urgent, then surely he would not have taken the time to write…
Lan Wangji found, to his surprise, that he was worried.
Not that he liked Jiang Cheng any more than he had the day before, which was very little – whatever camaraderie they had had in their youth or during the war had frozen over by the time he had emerged from his ‘seclusion’, with him having stewed for three years over Jiang Cheng’s actions against Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng seemingly unreasonably angry at him in return. His anger had faded a little when he’d realized that Jiang Cheng was angry for the same reason he was – failure to be there in connection to Wei Wuxian – but their relationship, such as it was, had never recovered.
And yet he was worried.
When he was only a half-day’s ride away from the Lotus Pier, he received an urgent message from home: disaster at Lanling Jin, it said, someone has kidnapped Chief Cultivator Jin’s wife. Requesting your presence urgently.
He ignored the message.
If his relationship with Jiang Cheng was cool then his relationship with Lanling Jin was positively icy: he would not set foot in the place where they had conspired to ostracize and murder Wei Wuxian.
He wondered if this was related to what Jiang Cheng had written to him.
When he arrived, landing easily with the juniors performing adequate but not stellar dismounts behind him, he saw a woman standing on the pier that suggested to him that that was in fact the case. That he had not gone to Koi Tower in years did not mean that he had not seen Sect Leader Jin’s wife, Qin Su, before, and this was very evidently her – the face and body were unmistakable, even if she had chosen to dress in the colors of Yunmeng Jiang, and in the clothing of the male disciples to boot.
Why would Jiang Cheng bring her here? Why would Chief Cultivator Jin Guangyao believe that she had been taken by force?
Why had Jiang Cheng requested Lan Wangji’s presence, of all people?
Qin Su turned when she heard them arrive. She was not wearing a sheer veil the way she so often did, he noted: her face was just as he remembered it, with a pointy chin and a small nose and wide eyes, unmistakable.
But her expression…
A broad smile broke out on her face the second she saw them – saw him – and she raised her hand in a jaunty, careless wave that was nothing like what he remembered of that reserved and gentle woman. “Lan Zhan!” she called, bellowing happily at the top of her lungs. “Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, over here!”
Oh, Lan Wangji thought, abruptly off balance. Oh, that’s why he wrote.
You’re back.

I agree with your points on the various threads you talk about of the Jiang Family. Reading them gave me lot of insight on their characters especially JYL once I took off my rose-tinted glasses.
Madam Yu is poison when it comes to her family dynamics and unfortunately JC turns to her guide more so than his own father. Madam Yu is a character who purposely makes things harder for her self because she is unsatisfied and unhappy. People in the fandom like to say she is a victim because her husband is not in love with her. But really who would love her as a wife or as a mother? I wouldn't... Honestly can you imagine living your whole life being tense at the dining table. I always joke with my mother and play funny pranks it'd fucking hurt me if my own mother would have said she wished I wasn't born. I am no psychologist but ya gotta admit shit like that would make you have trust issues or make you rethink critically of your own mother.
For all the Madam Stan out... MY is incredibly hard to please with
People like Madam Yu is destined to live a lonely life because they are incredibly narrow-minded and point out all the faults in their own life instead of their own actions.
That is why WWX had a second chance. I always think that he must have received divine intervention and reaped his awards because of all the good and acculmated good karma earned in his first life. He followed his own moral code and did the right thing even if things went south for him.
She is not a victim, but an abuser, a woman who terrorizes her own husband, children, and everyone around her for no apparent reason.
I'm beginning to suspect that, just as JC must have been appeased by his actions, Madam Yu was as a child.
Well, WWX got a second chance because he was powerful enough and lucky enough in his acquaintances that he was picked up as a useful tool for revenge. It gets glossed over a lot because it's not a hugely important part of the story, but WWX only gets brought back so someone else can take advantage of his incredible skill and good nature; the only difference is that unlike the Jiangs NHS is happy to leave WWX alone to live his life once the task he needs him for is done. I don't think divine intervention figures into it, he was just useful. To useful to leave dead, as it happens. Remember, all the sects were trying to track down WWX's spirit, presumably so they could use it; NHS and MXY were just the ones to make it work.
But yeah, people always treat YZY like a victim when... name one thing that happens to her that isn't her own damn fault. Her husband doesn't love her? Well, maybe she shouldn't have forced him to marry her! Her children are useless? Maybe she should have taught them instead of just berating them when they weren't instantly perfect! Her sect was destroyed and she died? Maybe she shouldn't have picked a fight with the people who'd parked an army on her doorstep! Her husband likes his ward better than her son because he was in love with the kid's mother rather than his wife? ...Well, that one's something she made up so it's even more her fault than the others because any consequences are entirely in her head and any rumours about it came from her. Really, if JFM wasn't so insanely distant and conflict-averse she would've been out on her ass years before WWX showed up in Lotus Pier. In fact morally she should have been the moment she started mistreating his children; JFM might have been okay to ignore it for himself, but he didn't have the right to make that decision for his kids. YZY got infinitely more than she ever deserved just by being allowed to stay in Lotus Pier; she certainly didn't deserve love from anyone there. Also, I hate this insistence that JFM was abusive because he didn't bow before YZY's every whim; seriously, pay attention to those arguments and it's like "He was abusive to YZY because instead of leaving WWX to starve on the street he brought him into the sect and gave him a position worthy of his skills", "He was abusive to YZY because he occasionally told her off for abusing children", "He was abusive to YZY because he had feelings for someone other than her at some point", "He was abusive to YZY because she concluded he liked his brilliant and charming ward better than his jackass son who she actively prevented from learning anything approaching decent behaviour and he didn't immediately devote all his time and attention to showing her otherwise"... They range from stupid to the usual JC stan argument of "How dare he not shut up and take abuse and instead openly dislike being treated like that". YZY deserved death more than she deserved anything approaching love from the people in her life and people claiming that JFM was the abusive one because he didn't obediently adore the woman who'd been treating him like shit for years just because she wanted it are... so wrong.

One thing I love about the LWH AU is how it completely derails the political nightmare atmosphere. Good!JZX did that too but JGS and Bad!JZX might have been able to wrestle it back on the rails in canon. But once LWH yeets JC into a fake dating friends to lovers romcom its all over. Twin Jades almost qi deviating. JC like a GPS recalculating route. Everyone waiting to see if a Nie feels like confessing their undying love while we're here. JGS can't operate properly in this atmosphere.
it's the big distraction everyone needs (except jgs fuck him lol)
jgs keeps trying to redirect a lot of the discussion conferences, but no one is having it in this au. the drama is too juicy. they're waiting for the next conference at gusu/yunmeng, so they can see this train wreck in person. will sect leader jiang agree (why wouldn't he, it's such an auspicious match)? lan qiren approves??? everyone that's anyone took lessons at the cloud recesses, they know of their famed love story origin. this is Gusu Lan Romance, the Sequel.
good!jzx is doing everything he can to deflect notice from lanling jin, his renewed betrothal, himself - that's enough mortification for one lifetime "ah... since... since jiang-guniang's brother is sect leader, it might be more appropriate for him to be wed first..."
jgy works hard, but gossip mills work harder - especially when his wants are in contrast w the current affairs. he also is roped into damage control by lxc, who has never been blindsided in this way.
nmj, being close to lxc and his family for most of his life, knows exactly how the little lan brat's actions are going to affect her geges and long-suffering uncle. the first moment of privacy he gets, nmj is near howling with laughter. he wishes no ill will on lxc, but there's something so hilarious watching your most-composed friend be utterly gob smacked by something innocuous.
the kiss flies out of both lwj and wwx's heads. wwx is too busy laughing 'ahahaha a stone-faced lan confessed to jiang cheng ahahahhaha' and once the shock wears off for lwj, the implication that even if his own gay pining can't come to fruition, he's still going to be related to jc is Not Acceptable.
"No"
"a-cheng, it's rude to be so curt with a young lady. and she's not a bad match, won't you consider it?"
"haha- yeah, jiang cheng, she -hahah - you'll break her fragile maiden heart hahahhaa" wwx sees lwh as female-lwj (which her first appearance and stoicism does nothing to debunk that), and imagining lwj with a fragile maiden heart, concerned over these frivolous matters of the heart has him fucking rolling.
(jc changes his mind when the first meeting, a private invitation to lotus pier to formally reject lwh, starts with lwh enduring wwx's teasing.
as lwj's agitation grows more and more obvious, lwh just "it is doubtful that wei-gongzi has any experience, judging from how he peddles his stories like conmen hawk their false goods." the directness of her response, one with zero-embarrassment and spoken like fact, renders wwx unable to respond as typical.
jc thinks 'someone that can shut his mouth. maybe this can work out.')

The Untamed, episode 46 - watching notes
Full disclosure: I'm not in a particularly good mood today. Have you seen that "no productivity. Only guild." Meme flying around? That's me today :|
Hopefully this will distract me (though distraction was the problem in the first place 🙈)
I apologise for any typos you'll finde in this post 😅
To recap, the last thing I learned was that apparently, Jiggy married his own sister because Jin Guangshan was a scumbag who raped more women than he could possibly remember
I was told by several people that this episode is their favourite. No pressures or anything :D
The way someone is dragging up Jiggy's secrets has a lot of poetic justice to it. Everyone is outraged and gossiping. Consensus is reached quickly. Kinda makes me feel that that someone (who probably also wrote the letter to jgy) knows exactly how to use the sect world's worst qualities as a weapon
Yao what's-his-name, resident gossip queen, at it again
Don't look at me my memory is as bad as wwx when it comes to names :D
I was about to write who is Lianfang Zum again and then I remembered that it's jiggy's honorary title. See what I mean? ^^
What does it say about me that my heart makes a leap when I simply see wwx leaning close to lwj to whisper to him? 😅 I'll probably die reading the novel, that's what that says
Oh so it was the maid who sent the letter
Come on Wei Wuxian! That was cruel
Yeah Yao what's-his-name, why would you need to know the identity of who ever is behind this? It's not like you've ever been deceived before!
What's... with that bracelet?
I love it how everyone looks positively startled when Lan Wangji says something unprompted :D
Wait ... Zwei Jun is in his hands? Shit, i don't remeber what happened there. Where did Xichen go again? 😬
I'm so confused right now 🙈 I can't watch and read the subtitles and type
Okay, watched the whole conversation again, now I'm following
I reiterate my earlier statement that whoever is pulling the strings here knows exactly what strings to pull to get the clans to act
Great, another mob 🙄
Loooool
NOW you want his help? 😂
Sure, as soon as he can serve YOU with his "evil tricks", that's okay!
You can see how much wwx changed because he does not hold their hypocrisy to their faces. He mostly seemed tired of it
And Jiang Cheng just realised that wwx might indeed not be responsible for Jiang Yanli's death, didn't he? He's almost stunned 🥺
Or is BEAUTIFUL to see Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji move in such unity! 😭
Oh ... those are the graves of his foster parents, right? :(
And Yanli ... oh God I forgot about Yanli 🥺
I'm crying again. Nothing on this show will ever hit as hard to me as the Yunmeng siblings' fate
I couldn't help myself, I legitimately just stroked my laptop screen where Yanli's plate was 🥺
So many conflicting emotions
Thanks to a friendly anon, I know that these three bows together are marriage thing! 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
So yeah, they're married now. I dont make the rules :')
Somehow, this feels like them asking wwx's foster family's blessing
And now I'm imagining Shijie smiling back at them gently and I'm crying 🥺
And by God, I love lwj's gentle teasing :')
This whole scene, he's so soft! 😭
And it think that Wei Wuxian probably thought that he'd never get to step into Lotus Pier again. But here, he can finally say his goodbyes to his Shijie properly. He can heal! 🖤
And again, I cannot stress enough how wonderful that is! And how rare and precious in a show like this. So often character's get put through unimaginable trauma, but they either brush it off no problem or the show/movie ends immediately after the main action and you are left to imagine the number it did on the character's psyche. There are so rarely fantasy shows that really dive into the emotional fallout the plot has on their characters and then give them time to heal. Thus show does both and I'm so goddamn overjoyed my it!
Come to think of it, it reminds me of a very good hurt/comfort fic 🤷‍♀️
Jiang Cheng pleae, fir once, try not to be angry immediately when you're hurting :(
He still takes special offence that lwj is there. Makes me wonder if he still feels like wwx chooses lwj over the Jiang sect and is still hurt by it 😔 (note that at the same time, he reminds wwx that he's very much not a member of the Jiang clan anymore. God, the man has not worked through his own feelings ...)
For once, as much as I love it when lwj defends wwx (especially when it's not against any physical harm, but because he doesn't want wwx to be hurt emotionally) I think him interfering with this particular conflict does not help
Okay sorry, but no! lotus pier was not destroyed because wwx saved lwj in that cave. That was just an excuse for the Wen sect. They would have come eventually anyway
Ohhh
So there's my answer
He's still hurt because he feels wwx chooses anyone else over his family, which is to say him
And he probably can't understand because their positions are so different. The (future) sect leader and the son of a (dead) servant and a rogue cultivator who never felt quite like he belonged 😔
It's so goddamn tragic how much between these two was destroyed simply because they have such a different status in society and could never quite understand each other's perspective
And again, wwx just takes it 💔
Until, that is, lwj's honour gets besmirched
Don't fight in front of Shijie 🥺
Jiang Cheng's every action screams that he still loves his brother and that amidst all that pain for his lost family, is also deep betrayal and grieve for the brother he thought he could always count on 🥺💔
Tumblr media
Can we appreciate for a second how much this shot tells us? From Jiang Cheng's angry desperation, to Wei Wuxian's quite acceptance of his rage (which must be so confusing to Jiang Cheng and probably hurt him even more. Because fighting is always how these two resolved their issues!) to Lan Wangji who is in full on protective mode (which I find more than heartwarming, but still think probably isn't helpful rn)
He ... what?
I still don't quite understand when exactly wwx's lack of golden core shows. Why does he have a nosebleed here?
What?
Oh!
Wen Ning 😱
I get what he wants to do!
Have we ever seen him this calm and determined before?
Abd they understand 😱😱😱
The look on all of their faces! Shiiiiit
I'm crying again
Oh wangii is crying 🥺
Wen Quing 💔💔💔 I'm crying even harder just looking at her. I've MISSED her 🥺
Lan Zhan your FACE!! 😭
The way he's looking at wwx in his arms, as if he's seeing him fir the first time
And by god, I can only imagine what he must be thinking
He must be reevaluation every single interaction they had since wwx started down the path of demonic cultivation 😭
I'm a bit in awe of Wen Ning here and how much he must have been holding in. That's the steadiest and most confident he's ever been
Oh Jiang cheng 💔
Tumblr media
That looks like a man whose entire world has just been shaken to its core
And Lan Wangji is crying so much 🥺
God I hope he doesn't blame himself even more 🥺
Aaaaaaahhhh, so that is why he wouldn't just carry the sword for appearance sake and why he just had a nosebleed!
Jiang Cheng probably needs about a month to process all that :/
And therapy ...
Aaaaaaahhhh! The boat scene! I've seen gifs! 😍😍😍
Tumblr media
A penny for Lan Wangji's thoughts ...
Oh I'm so so so so glad that Wen Ning gets to say thank you to the man who raised his ... cousin (?) :')
Oh god we get to see!!!!
Oh little a Yuan 😭😭😭😭😭😭
I wonder now, did Lan Qiren know who the child was that his nephew suddenly brought back to cloud recess?
I'm glad that we all learned from this that keeping secrets from the people we love, especially secrets that concern them personally, will eventually come back to bide us in the ass. Than you for delivering that important lesson, wen Ning!
Which reminds me that I hope they eventually tell wwx that they know 😬
I swear to god, one of these days I will melt from the gentleness in lan Wangji's gaze :')
Shit. He had to be awake? 😳
You can pinpoint the moment Lan Wangji's heart breaks for all the suffering wwx endured and how close he came to loosing him even then 🥺
Waking like that in you lovers arms in the middle of a lotus pond - that's the dream *sighs* (minus the passing out bit)
It's weirdly cute that wwx thinks that it's Jiang Cheng's insults that have lwj so upset 😅
Oh GOOOOD ...
I can't
Tumblr media
The moment Yanli's themes started to play and she appeared I started to bawl 😭😭😭
And he's sharing the lotus pods with them ... oh please, lwj, please understand what he's saying. That's his pove language! His sister's food was how he received love and right now he passes it on to you! Please, please understand it! 🥺
Oh lwj, don't 🙈
Awwwwww ....
He's breaking the rules for you!!! Just to make you smile!!! 😭😭
And holy shit look at their expressions 😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By now you should know that he's willing to break the rules for you :')
And poor third wheel Wen Ning 😂
Tumblr media
Now there are glittering butterflies???
Do they have some kind of romantic aesthetic bingo going on in this episode???
Oh okay, messenger butterflies
Tumblr media
Please appreciate wwx almost climbing into lan Wangji's lab in excitement :D
Thay scene transition was pretty af!
Hey! Why do they bully wen Ning? 😤
Tumblr media
*shakes wwx by the shoulders* DO YOU GET THAT HE LOVES YOU NOW???
Huh, this episode was a roller coaster. you guys did NOT exaggerate! I loved it to pieces. I'm floored once more by all the actor's performances. Wen Ning revealed a lot about his character, Jiang Cheng broke my heart, Lan Wangji made it melt and Shijie is still able to make me bawl in an instant. But ... I'm not left with a bitter feeling. Sure, jiang Cheng and wei Wuxian havebt reconciled, but the truth is the first step to even have that possibility. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are both healing and whatever happens in the last 4 (4!!!😭) episodes, I'm not dreading it that much right now. I feel like we're climbing upwards :)
@sweetlittlevampire @fandom-glazed @elenirlachlagos @allhailthedramallama @luckymoony @kyrrahbird @i-love-him-on-purpose thank you guys for staying with me for this crazy ride 💙🖤💙
Also one last thing: please don't tell me what happens differently in the novel in any given scene. I am still reading it (about half way through rn) and I'd like to still be surprised by stuff like first kisses and love confessions 💙🖤
I should have put something like this at the end before, but I always forgot. That's on me 😅 so don't feel bad, if you've shared something before :)

You just finished cql????? I did too like three days ago and that last jc bomb???? AAHH THESE BROS. THESE DUMB SELF SACRIFICING BROS I LOVE THEM TO PIECES,, aND WWX + LWJ + AYUAN BEING A FAMILY? Y e S. ITS WHAT WWX DESERVES. All the happiness. All the love. EVERY BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD AND LWJ MY BABY DADDY HE LOVES WWX SM (and honestly, saMe) THIS SHOW JUST TORE MY HEART OPEN AND PUT IT RIGHT BACK IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE 😭❤️
hello love!!! 💙💙 OMG YES, YES I DID. and until now my heart is wrecked, squeezed out, drained, from overflowing feels from that drama because!!!! (ok brace urself coz this is going to be LONG)
the yunmeng bros. our two heroes of yunmeng. their love goes beyond what their words could ever express ; we have one who would rather keep things to himself because he's too afraid to be of burden to the people he loves and the other who would rather mask his true feelings with words of spite because that's how he's been all his life. he communicates with his fist, most especially those which he can't express through words. but the thing is wuxian always, always understood what jiang cheng means. he knows that in every snarl, he means well. but circumstances had driven them both to be soo blind even to each other's own intentions.
and tHAT'S WHAT MAKES IT MORE HEART BREAKING 😭
because we //know// they love each other dearly. coz why wouldn't they?? they are brothers. nothing will change that. no matter how much they fight, they'll always make up. so when wuxian came back, even with fire coming out of his mouth, jiang cheng's only question is why didn't you come home? why didn't he come to lotus pier?? you promised you'll stay by my side. why didn't you?? and you also can't blame wuxian because he badly wants to go home. him saying that he wants to visit lotus pier even in his dreams just shows how even after everything that has happened, lotus pier is and his only home. but life has been tough and fate is a bitch.
the entire last ep i was just really screaming into my screen for those two to just MAKE UP ALREADY. WE ALL KNOW YOU WANT TO. JUST...MAKE UP ALREADY. and somehow we saw they did...with wei ying's soft touch on jiang cheng's face. that pained smiles beneath the tears,, you just //know// they still love each other so so SO much. and i just — HURT FOR THOSE TWO IDIOTS. they deserve so so much and i just won't accept an ending of them not making up and leading lotus pier together. that's not possible. 🥺
and the reveal of jiang cheng's sacrifice?? like, i know wuxian's sacrifice was beyond anyone's wits but jiang cheng's sacrifice was just as big 🥺 and it just HURTS seeing them like that after all the sacrifices they've done for one another. no one can tell me they haven't made up. idc what it says in the novel. i'm gonna cry again!!!! 😭
oh god when wuxian realized who sizhui is?? that his little family, the family he made from scratch in the burial mounds, was not fully exterminated?? that the little radish kid whom he cherished so much he sees him in every toy and every street in yilling is alive and well. not just alive and well, but a wonderful, smart and kind young man. the way he turns to wangji and smiles as though saying thank you. thank you for not letting him lose another family. thank you for always being by his side, no matter who's in front of them.
and just!! you are so right!! wangji loves wuxian so much!! they both loves each other so much!! and i am so amazed how the show depicted this love despite the censorship and all. MAN I LOVE THIS SHOW TO BITS!!! 💙💙💙💙

Even if we had no confirmation as to why, wouldn't it be weird for the argument of how much JC loved WWX that he kept Chenqing at Lotus Pier but let go of Suibian? Isn't Suibian the sword of the WWX that grew up alongside him in Lotus Pier? Of the brother he had during peaceful days? Then why let the Jin keep it, but make a fuss about Chenqing, the weapon of the Yiling Patriarch? (Not saying that JC didn't love WWX in some manner, but it's odd to frame that as out of love)
Yeah, he explicitly wanted the weapon he thought was most likely to draw WWX back to Lotus Pier. He wanted bait, not a keepsake of his beloved brother. Why he wanted to lure WWX to Lotus Pier... well, we have no explanation for that, so everyone can come to their own conclusions. But personally it feels less like him wanting a reminder of his brother and more like one more facet of his obsession. WWX was dead, but JC insisted on keeping the thing he thought he’d come back for, specifically because he thought WWX would come back for it.
