how much water does sorbet needs to transform?
sorbet figure out just how much water they need to transform into a shark with their friends
-----
It was the fourth cup that did anything major. One second Sorbet was still talking in bubbles to everyone, and the second they put their fingers into the around 500ml worth of water they could speak some English. “Did something happened? What changed? Am I still talking in bubbles?”
“Sorbet! You’re talking in English!” Custard was staring at Sorbet with wide eyes, a smile slowly forming on his face, “Oh, now I know what to tell Pure Vanilla about your bubbles.”

“Sorbet! Sorbet, come on!” Custard yelled, waving the shark cookie over, “I really want to see what happens!”
“OOooooOO,” Sorbet whined, pouting. They looked around the seaside, “Ooo0oo0?”
“They’ll come, don’t worry,” Custard waved Sorbet’s concerns away. He grinned when Sorbet sighed, nodding their (reluctant) approval. “Great! You’ll love it, really, it’s a shame that no one thought to try this-”
“You meant transforming Sorbet into a shark and back with various volume of water?” Pancake asked grumpily. He was carrying two different buckets, one big enough to hold Sorbet’s shark form and the other might be a tight fit for Sorbet’s shark form. Sorbet voiced their concern out for the smaller bucket.
“If Custard wants to put you in that small bucket, I’ll bite his crown off.” Pancake reassured, eyeing the future king’s crown. “After all, his crown is just candy.”
“Hey! Don’t talk to your future king like that!”
“OOooo ooO0oo?” Sorbet tilted their head, looking at Pancake.
Pancake shrugged at the question, “Who knows? Onion’s coming with Poison Mushroom, I think, and Strawberry Crepe said she didn’t want to come because there’s a new machine she wanted to look at, Moon’s coming with Cherry.” He picked up the two buckets, “Wait here, I’ll go get water first.”
Sorbet watched Pancake gather water, wondering how their life became so… interesting. Meeting these kids in the land kingdom might be just the reason, they thought. Kids around their age and weren’t as busy as Gingerbrave. Sorbet thought they’ve done a good job in making friends.
“Ooo0 oo0ooo,” they said loudly, pointing at Moon Rabbit and Cherry blossom, who were walking over with some cups.
“We’ve brought the cups!” Cherry raised the cups up above her head, “And Moon says that she brought some food too!”
“Wice cakes,” Moon said happily, “An’ some othe’ food too!” She heaved her special rice cake basket onto the sand, petting it gently.
“Go get water, Cherry, we’re just gonna wait for Onion and Poison.” Pancake pointed at the sea, “And once we’re all here we can start experimentating.”
“OOooo0o?” Sorbet asked, suddenly confused, “Oo0oo0o ‘ooo0oo’.”
“Let’s pretend it’s a word, Sorbet.” Custard rolled his eyes good-naturally, “You just wait here for a couple more minutes and-”
“Ooo0oo!” Sorbet grinned, nodding. They also wanted to know the result of the experiment.
(The sand between their toes were ticklish, something they didn’t realise until they first stepped onto the beach as a cookie. The various sound of the young cookies screaming their excitement while filling water as they sat there watching reminded Sorbet that their lonely days were long over. Now, they have a lot of cookie friends, and not everyone knows that they could turn into a shark. Life was nice.)
“We’re here!” Sorbet looked up from the sand and found Poison and Onion walking towards them. They gave the two cookies a grin and a wave, petting the sand beside them for the two cookies to join them. Poison hold up the smallest cup Sorbet has even seen, shrugging apologetically, “Sorry, Sorbet, but after I filled this up I’ll join you and Onion.”
“Ooo0oo0!” Sorbet pointed at the beach, where the other young cookies were currently at. Poison gave them a thumbs up before leaving for water. “Oo0o oo00o?”
“Was good… Blackberry read a bedtime story last night…”
“Ooooo, oo0o0o 00o0oooO.” Sorbet ruffled Onion’s hair, grinning, “OO0ooo!”
“I think we would, have fun that is,” Onion muttered quietly.
“Oi, slowpokes! Come over!” Onion jumped at the sudden yell, her eyes already watering. Sorbet stood up, glaring at Custard, who seem to grin after seeing the tears dropping from Onion’s face.
“Oo0o0ooOO!” Sorbet said. They started chasing Custard down, pulling Onion with them so that when Custard finally caved in and pretended to fall, Onion could get a good whack on Custard.
—----------------------------------
The cookies had the cups and buckets all lined up, each holding different volume of water. Pancake has a paper and pen in her hand. Poison was prepared with their camera.
“Sorbet, where do you wanna start first?” Custard asked.
Sorbet eyed the various cups and buckets before walking towards the smallest one. “Ooo0o0o oo 0o0oo,” they muttered, looking at the small cup. It was small, smaller than what Sorbet remembered about shot cups, and the water it held was too little. “Oo0o0oo.” They pointed at the cup, eyebrows raised.
“Oh, just try it! You’ll never know…” Cherry said encouragingly.
Sorbet shrugged. What could go wrong? Worst case scenario they transform into a shark and hop into the sea for safety.
With every pair of eyes watching, Sorbet dipped their finger into the small cup. They squeezed their eyes shut.
Nothing happened.
“Come on!” Custard whined, “I thought you were going to transform!”
Sorbet pouted at the cup, slowly checking their whole body to make sure they hasn’t transformed. They held out their wet finger for all to see, “OO0oo0ooo. Ooo000OO?” A small patch of scales could be seen around the finger. The cookies “ooh”ed and “ahh”ed at the little changes.
“Well, now we absolutely have to see the rest of the buckets.” Cherry grinned at the results, looking over to Pancake to check. “Sorbet, the next cup, if you please!”
“OO0o0o!”
“Don’t tell His Majesty that I have to carry this 500ml water to talk in English. I don’t have the energy to carry this all day long!” Sorbet cried out, pretending to send a kick to Custard. They pulled their arms out from the bucket and tried to talk, but this time, only bubbles came out.
“Oh!” Moon cried excitedly, “Sowbewt only talk bubbles, bu’ when touch wa’er Sowbewt talk English!”
“And Sorbet somehow still have the scales,” Sorbet muttered, putting their arm back into the bucket of water. “Anything else I should know about before going to the next one?”
“We’ll bring this to Wizard, he might have a clue to the scales thing,” Cherry said, “But go on, Sorbet, I want to know when you fully transform.”
“I don’t think there would be a limitation on that…” Onion said, but she gave Sorbet a shy smile. “Try the next one…”
Nothing big happened for the fifth and sixth buckets, to the young cookies’ disappointment. Only more scales showed up on Sorbet’s arms, slowly covering their shoulders as well.
“Do you want me to jump into the last two buckets, or…?” Sorbet looked at the two biggest buckets. They were pretty sure those two could trigger a transformation, but they weren't sure how their friends wanted to proceed.
“Stick your whole upper body in, I guess,” Poison shrugged, snapping away picture evidence, “At least we know that the last one will make you transform.”
Sorbet nodded. They bend over the second biggest bucket, and submerged their upper body into the water, waiting for the transformation to occur. They could hear the watery “It’s almost there!” and “oohhh”s. They wriggled their cookie legs and was surprised to feel the slippery scales on them.
Rising up from the water, they took in a deep breath. “Dont have grills yet,” they told the cookies, “Maybe because grills require a full transformation?”
“Don’t drown yourself,” Custard said, “Imagine what I have to explain to Pirate. ‘Your adopted child accidentally drowned because we’re trying to figure out the water needed for a transformation.”
“Not before papa kills me first,” Sorbet snorted, “I’ll move over to the last one, then.”
They weren’t fully submerged in the water but they could already feel the difference between their tail and cookie legs. The soft pain of skin stitching back together was numb to Sorbet as they finally could breath in the water. They pushed themselves onto the surface, looking at the rest of the cookies.
“I’ll compile theses with Pancake and send it off to Wizard, then,” Poison muttered, staring at Sorbet in awe.
“Push me to the ocean? Haven’t swam there for a while.” Sorbet asked, looking out at the ocean with longing in their eyes.
“Maybe we should try to invent something so our bread wouldn’t crumble when we’re in the water,” Pancake suggested, “I always wanted to go swimming.”
“You should!” Sorbet squealed in delight, “I have friends in the sea and they wanted to know you guys as well! The fishes kept asking when I’m bringing you down to meet them.”
“One day, Sorbet. One day all of us will be enjoying the ocean together.” Custard nodded. Sorbet grinned at the promise and jumped into the water, swimming at top speed and jumping out of the water at random intervals, sending huge splashes of water to the cookies.
One day they will all be enjoying the sea together. Maybe Sorbet should try to contact their old mentor to see what could be done.
Their thoughts returned to their friends on shore. No use in thinking about their old mentor now, they weren’t even sure she could be contacted. It was a problem for another day.
Fun first, then they would think about contacting their old mentor.
