its haunting you know
my face frozen in time
is this how I looked to you?
in the cold November nights
when we sat by the basketball ground
and you asked me
what do you think about Ash?
I couldn’t tell you
about the fleeting thoughts
of ephemeral grief and love
that were larger than my hands
larger than the love I had for you
what do you think about Ash?
my friend asks while she freezes me in time
my skin warms of the sun that faces us
my eyes wander to the air that’s charged with us
my thoughts run all over the words of the song that’s playing for us
its haunting, this love this temporary permanence of life and moments
the soft passing of time
the harshness of memories
its all caught up within me
and i’m frozen in time, all over again.

Your eyes. They shine like stars. Seems like I've spent most nights wondering where you are. My single wish come true. For you, I fell so hard. Love, your eyes. They shine like stars.

control’s contradictions
Some people believe
In conspiracy theories
Out of sheer comfort.
Because the idea
Of randomly horrible
Events are coordinated
By unsavory forces
Is more reassuring
Than to acknowledge
An inherently chaotic world
No person could ever control

blackout poem a week
This week featuring: Closer to you by Clairo
alone
Momma said, "I told you
You call me late
I pick up
Peace of mind
Hear it now; I’m fed up
Wish I could walk away.
I know it won’t change.
The things you do only make me want to stay.
I need to hear your voice.
Know I’m standing here by choice.
I’m closer to you.

Stepping into
The world oscillating
Between the waves of
Translucent resonance.
Glass temples sing
In their realm of shadows
When faint candles call
To stroll through liquid void.
A forest hidden under your skin,
Fireflies leading to a distant glade
Where the spirits are waiting for you.
Embraced by a dryad and graced
With a crown of poison ivy,
Nights spent in whimsical dancing
And promises of joy in eternity.
Have you noticed the passing of time?
Mind leaving the body
To look down at it from the ceiling.
Shadows have said their prayers,
And the human spirit is now of no interest
To everything apart from itself.

Okay so it was cold.
But look at you.
You’ve still got
your fingers and toes.
Unclench your teeth, dear.
Your skin is thicker
than it feels right now.
You’ve always known
how to build a fire
in your own bones.

Some days you won't be able to fight. You'll sit down and stare at the wall or occupy your hands and legs in mindless things. You'll draw aimlessly at a paper or find yourself unable to want to give a coherent response to any questions and or conversations. Your soul will be so tired you won't want to absorb anything. Your mind will want to be blank and your whole body will feel heavy. And that's ok. Everyone has those days, they're unavoidable. After all, we all need to heal one way or the other. You can't expect to repair an engine while it's running, right?

You can't break me. I'm not a vase. Even if you did, I would glue myself back with my mother's love.

in between the lines
somewhere along the sunsets
birds have flown back home
the sky is empty of blue
and stars have come ashore
we’re recreating a memory
with old hopes
and changed behaviours
it has left everyone unsteady
somewhere in between the lines
I’ve stopped reading
with no hopes
and a colour that is yet to dry.

We all give chase
For dawn's grace
But why do we race
To embrace with haste
The dying lights
Of empyrean space
Do we all fear
The shadows' embrace?
