Fic Search
This is driving me up the wall. I'm looking for an Arcane fanfic centred on Jinx and her growing up and her experience with sex and violence. It's longer -- three chapters or more, set in canon in the gap between Act One and Act Two. It's complete, and written in English.
The first chapter opens with Powder unknowingly witnessing a SA as a child, and Vi getting her away from the situation and not explaining anything.
There's a point later in the fic where Jinx shadows Sevika to a brothel and spies on her with a sex worker. Because she's curious about the act, and not due to a crush as Sevika mistakenly believes.
Before that, she goes with Silco to a chem baron meeting and one of the barons touches her behind the ear, brushing her hair back, and she nearly rubs the spot raw before Silco soothes her in the car afterwards.
There's a couple that parallel Silco and Jinx, and the Silco parallel has a name that is based off an element, like Silco is taken from silicon. When Jinx is a little older, she runs into her parallel [a pretty boy] and they have a drink before he gets her back where she needs to be.
Near the end of the fic, Jinx comes onto Silco and is firmly rebuffed - specifically because sex has been explained to her as "something you do when you want to be close to someone" and she wants to be close to Silco.
Does this sound familiar at all? Please help!

which authors in your opinion writes the best silcos?
okay so I feel like it won't be the best silco but more like, my favorite silco - because honestly I think fic doesn't have to be a 1:1 replication of canon, it's a conversation with canon and I like seeing how interpretations of a character differ from author to author or even fic to fic. a lot of fics I've enjoyed aren't necessarily my version of silco (or any other character shdhjs) but they are interesting and play off canon and I like seeing what aspects of a character people leave out or play up, what parts are the ones they want to explore
also, as a disclaimer I don't acc read as many silco fics as proper silco simps bc I mostly read like. him and jinx, gen fics, vanco, I don't really read any other m/m ship he has or /oc and xreader fics so that's big chunks of this fandom that I just don't know djhdhdjdj
anyways my favorite favorite silco is wiitts' silco which is the trifecta of four letter word for grief, root, anchor and one day bear fruit, and lead based and gilded with the last two being him through jinx's pov. it's just so. cess has this incredible talent for giving you a snapshot of a character/relationship and managing to pack so much complexity into this brief glimpse, you could write 50k words for something she manages to capture into 5k. all those contrasts and balances and conflicting feelings that exist within and between characters it's just insane, I adore characterization for both him and jinx in these and the dynamic between them
lullabyes has two fics but I haven't started the second one yet so I only know from the ashes - it's one of those that gives credit to how fucked up both him and jinx are, both separate and together dhhdjsjdjsj but also has this balance of that toxicity and genuine love and care, v fun v good read
divide et impera and I don't even ship f/m and I know some of you bitches will be like omg patrycja recommending mel/silco she's finally lost it but Listen. it's insane how good this one is to both of their characters, I feel like it gives credit to both him and also mel for this manipulative scheming side they both have but also they are both fully fleshed out with a more vulnerable side too
also ghosts from zaundads zine has me fucking gagged still it's such a fantastic study on grief

this is a birthday present for my wonderful friend @wiitts! gaysians gotta stick together. happy birthday cess! สุขสันต์วันเกิด!
Cass lands softly on the roof, settling into a crouch and putting her finger to her comm as it crackles in her ear.
“Nightwing to all points. What are the specs?”
“No need to sound so fancy about it,” Jason’s voice crackles back.
“Would you prefer ‘What’s the sitch?’”
“I really wouldn’t.”
“Fine,” Dick huffs. “Nightwing to all points. Report.”
“Well now you're just being demanding.”
“Hood, I swear to—”
“All good in the Hill and the Fashion District,” Tim interrupts. “Just need to wrap up in Little Italy.”
“Thanks, double R,” Dick replies.
“All good in the hood,” Jason jeers.
“Hood—”
“All clear in the Bowery,” Jason huffs. “Nearing the end of the East End route now.”
“Perfect, that’s all I asked for. Robin?”
“Gotham Heights and Coventry are taken care of,” Damian answers.
“Black Bat?”
Cass taps out her response using the button on her comm. Morse code. All clear in the Diamond District.
“Fantastic. Reconvene at the cave. Nightwing out.”
“Red Robin, out.”
“Robin, out.”
“Hood out.”
Cass takes her finger away from her ear and stands, stretching her arms above her head. She’s about to jump to the next roof when she hears the soft thud of someone landing near her.
“Spoiler,” she says, turning to face the new arrival.
“The one and only,” Steph says, smiling wide. She notices Cass tilting her head at her and shrugs. “I know I said I was going to stay in and study for my finals, but I was getting a little restless.”
Cass looks at her for a second, raises an eyebrow.
Steph puts her hands on her hips. “Stop doing that.”
“Doing what?”
“That thing where you read me front and back like a leaflet.”
Cass just keeps looking at her.
Steph huffs playfully, a smile on her lips. “Okay, maybe I just wanted a little patrol time without the bats breathing down my neck.”
Cass nods, turning towards the next roof over. “Cave?”
“Go back to the cave? Are you serious?” Steph asks incredulously. “No thanks. You guys are working on the Mullins case, right?”
Cass nods.
“Yeah, that is not a lion’s den I want to walk into. Besides, I don’t wanna hear shit from them about patrolling while off comms. You won’t tell them you saw me?”
Cass shakes her head, small smile tugging at her lips.
“Great, you’re the best,” Steph tells her, taking a step back and retrieving her grapple from her belt. “We’re still on for Friday night, yeah? My dorm room, 6 p.m. sharp, be there. We’re watching the entirety of the Witcher and eating so much fucking popcorn we’re going to be popping kernels in our stomachs.”
Not waiting for any kind of response, Steph shoots her grapple and jumps off the roof. Cass smiles and shoots her grapple in the opposite direction.
When she gets back to the cave, the boys are in the middle of an argument.
“I’m with Drake on this one, for once,” Damian pipes up, crossing his arms and slumping in his seat, his hood up. The cave goes silent for a minute as they all turn to look at him. Damian just shrugs. “I mean, if he’s right, he’s right,” he says simply, swiveling back and forth in his chair.
The rest of them shake themselves out of it pretty quickly, and it doesn’t take long for Jason to start yelling again. Cass creeps closer and Dick’s gaze flicks up to her, notifying the others to her presence.
“Come on, Cass, back me up on this,” Tim pleads, and Jason slams his fist down on the table.
“You can’t just get Cass on your side just like that!” he complains.
“Yes I can, I’m her favorite.”
“You’re not her favorite—”
They dissolve into arguing again, yelling back and forth at each other. Dick tries to step in, but it just turns into a shouting match between all three of them. Damian tuts and spins around lazily in his seat. Cass smiles. She’s home.

genuinely a struggle to pick three but I went with a range of fandoms shhshsj:
outpastthemoat - literally can't think of another fic writer in my years in fandoms who writes this soft and gentle but also sad, I've been following her since spn fandom and we don't really share fandoms anymore but I'll read her atla fics as like. the only atla fics I read shshdbnsns
shieldings - shieldings is one of most unique fic writers I've seen, with her style and humour and the way she constructs her stories and deconstructs characters. if you're not in the titans corner of dc fandom you probs don't know but I'm pretty sure no one on this planet who stans terra stans actual dc terra, they stan shieldings cinematic universe terra shshshbsns she just has such talent for making characters her own
wiitts - from talking to cess I know that the number of wrinkles their brain contains is shocking and it shows shhdhdjsj the aspect that really stands out is that they construct character relationships like no other, with all the connections and gentleness that comes with love but also all the darker more complex and difficult aspects. she takes emotions that are not easy to even describe and boils them down to essence in her stories like it's so simple and that's astounding to me
