Wilbur: Who's the lucky- who's the lucky lady, who's Missa, what's she like?
Phil: It's a dude. *laughs*
Wilbur: Phil, you didn't tell me you were bi, and also polyamorous.
Phil: Definitely not.
Wilbur: What does Kri- what does Kristin think of your- of your... husband?
Phil: SHE'S NOT CANON IN THIS UNIVERSE! And we- and it's not like that, it's not like that- it's uh, we're- it's platonic, we're just dude's hanging out protecting an egg-
i've been thinking about tallulah's situation; being cared for by her grandparents, uncles, and aunties, everyone but her "actual" parent. everyone assumes her grandpa is her dad because he's the only one around. most people refer to her as philza's daughter
yet, while she spends most days with philza, there are days when she's passed from guardian to guardian. on those days she's not sure who'll be the one to feed her, to protect her, to sing her to sleep. and, y'know, that isn't an uncommon or outlandish experience for children of busy or erratic parents. it was mine. i'm sure many viewers see themself in her whenever she thanks her uncles for food or asks about her father; clearly forever did, in his stream today.
the thing is, i rarely see a nomadic childhood like hers depicted as it is on the QSMP -- as warm, loving, and gladly given to tallulah by the other parents. it is so heartwarming to see the love that everyone on the island has for tallulah. people choose to care for her even if it's an extra responsibility because they love her. QSMP shows us how a true community is there for the children who need them, without pause and regardless of filiation. these cubitos love all the eggs, not only their own. it's beautiful.
aka a valentine for the lovely @itsnotmystic / @corvids-calling - fanart for stars fic of the same name, which you can read here !!! i really enjoyed this concept and wanted to do some art for it :3 hope you like it because i REALLY loved your work & i hope this shows that !!! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !!!!
this is also a loose love-letter to the wonderful @arginnit 's crazy background-drawing-ability and style/skill at portraying environments . wadds your stuff is insane and i love it
I dont blame you if you were a Wilbur fan, and you shouldn't blame yourself either. You had no way of knowing, you were not holding Wilbur's hand as he did the things he did.
Do not blame yourself for loving something. It's not your fault it was rotten
Reading about the Wilbur Soot allegations has reminded me of an old saying:
"I cant believe my favorite musician who wrote my favorite song 'locking teen girls in a closet with spiders' locked some teenage girls in a closet with spiders!"
[id: sketches of dsmp!wilbur and qsmp!wilbur in a comic. q!wilbur is sitting in a chair, watching tallulah sleep. behind him, leaning against the wall, his dsmp self says, “i tried, you know. changing things. making my world ‘better.’ you want to know how that worked out?” and he replies “not particularly.” dsmp!wilbur approaches him, and says “hey, i won’t stop you. you can play at peace for as long as you like. maybe some of those friends of yours will even join you.” he leans close to wilbur’s face, smiling, and says “but sooner or later... something’s got to give.” end id]
I'm going to dissect what is happening in Wilburs appology, partially for my own sanity, partially because there is merit in dissecting what is being said here, what is being implied, and understanding manipulative tactics (even when they are so poorly done because he is too blinded by his own misogyny to effectively manipulate the narrative.)
In conclusion:
He only believes the harm he did was making her clear his apartment and being selfish
Does not believe he did anything wrong in regards to ignoring her safe word, pinning her down, or causing her pain she did not want.
As such, he necessarily her feelings as irrational and his perspective as more accurate, a further case of misogyny.
Thank you to Shubble for making us all aware of this shitty mans awful behaviour, and for her bravery in being the first to step forward. Thank you all other who corroborated her words and added their own experiences.
au where Philza is a struggling single Dad and his work friend Techno swings by to help one day w moving a fridge or smth. Techno has zero (0) experience with kids and so when meeting Tommy for the first time he tries to win him over with flattery. Specifically: ‘these crayon drawings are so good for a four year old your dad must be proud’.
Murder instantly in Tommy’s eyes. He is *nine.* (Techno mixed up age and grade level have mercy he’s never interacted with a child.) Tommy immediately starts cussing him out and Techno is just like. Blink blink. “Wow Phil I didn’t know they could talk at that age good job.”
Tommy fully chooses violence that day. The moment Dad's back is turned he is an actual devil. But Techno has no standards, he’s willing to beef with a baby. Just, not in a way that means he has to have a chat with HR. And so commences a secret war behind Phil's back.
Wilbur falls into a Candace roll where he’s trying to prove to his dad that this wacko coworker is unstable and unsafe (and what if you stop paying attention to us you already spend so much time at work with him make him leave). “DAAAAAD Tommy and Techno tried to blow each other up agaiiiiin!” But the proof vanishes every time.
Philza is completely aware, but he’s 80% sure this is how they’re bonding. But the other 20% is hospital bill and he cannot afford that right now.
