I was very disappointed how the Riots recently fired people, who were passionate about their work without any warning, what a shame... I do not know and will not be able to understand what could be the reason for not giving people two weeks' notice, or just week, so that they can look for work and sort out their portfolios.

Sweet lavender haze settled quietly in the clearing, overgrown with tiny wildflowers. The soft midday sun on the spring island you had stopped at for supplies was partially covered by clouds, its warmth broken up by gentle gusts of breeze. A pair of arms holds you close, back pressed against a hard chest, preventing the wind from dusting a light chill on your upper arms. The fresh spring growth is as naïve and new as your steps past a mere friendship, and as green as his mossy hair.

You both had no idea where you were or how you had gotten there.

Zoro always appreciated the way you never teased him for his lack of direction; it was out of respect and understanding on your part, but deep down it amused him that your internal compass was almost as offset as his. The rest of the crew saw him getting lost as something ranging from an annoyance to a burden, but you never seemed to mind. At times you would even drag him further away from your intended course, eager to drink in the sensations of your unfamiliar surroundings. Tiny quiet ponds, tidal pools hidden behind perilous crags of rocks, and peaceful, open clearings like this one were secret rifts in the fabric of reality where time seemingly stopped; he held these moments close to his heart.

“Looks pretty.” he says as he presses a kiss to your cheek, voice still carrying the weight of sleep. You hum a quiet thanks in return, engrossed in your work, but still flushing pink at his praise. A colorful landscape painting of the field in front of you sits, nearly finished, in the pochade box on your lap; he’s impressed that your brushstrokes hadn’t suffered despite him restricting the movement of your arms somewhat as he held you.

He leans forward and watches the side of your face with a soft, sleepy smile as you squint, concentrating on adding the finishing highlights, trying to capture the warm glow of the sun. The adorable and slightly eccentric way you scrunched your nose and bit the inside of your cheeks when you were focused was just so fun for him to watch, just as you were intoxicated by the determined look in his eyes when he trained.

Laying back against the tree trunk that served as his bed just moments ago, he admires the flow of your hair in the wind and lifts a bottle of sake to his lips. The clear liquor is expensive, rich, and smooth—you had borrowed a fortune from Nami to gift it to him. Licking his lips and setting it down, he almost feels guilty that the bottle is already nearly empty.

As you clean your brushes and wipe the paint from your palette, Zoro absentmindedly starts picking flowers in reach and placing them in your hair. By the time you start to pack up your box of supplies, he’s turned you into a sight to rival the field in front of you, a rainbow of petals tangled in your thick hair, at one time straight but turned wild and wavy with the mist of the sea. As you turn around in his lap to show him the finished piece, he nearly forgets to look, completely captivated by the excitement in your eyes; when his eyes drop to examine your work, his chest brims with pride. Decisive, impressionistic brushstrokes captured not just the physical but the emotional. One of your best.

“I’m so proud of you.” he says, unable to hide the grin on his face. In these quiet moments alone with you, he finds it easier to display his emotions without the shame of being vulnerable; he is also appreciative of the way you effortlessly can read his face during all the other times when he finds himself incapable of peeling back his shell.

He listens intently as you walk him through your process, analyzing your metaphorical leaps forward and steps back, just as you do when he informs you on the outcomes of his workouts; this was your training, and your discipline to your dream enrooted you into his heart on a visceral level. When you finally finish, he offers you the last swig of sake from the bottle.

“You’ve earned this.” he says, watching as you eagerly tip the bottle into your mouth, making sure you swallow every last drop. By the time the bottle is placed to the side, his lips are on yours, chasing the taste of liquor, and melting into your soft but passionate touch.

Pulling away to glimpse the dreamy look on your face leaves him breathless. Sun illuminating your wispy stray strands of hair, petals scattered in your hair, and barely-there freckles dusting your cheeks from too many naps in the sun, you’re a goddess of spring through and through. Worn, stamped patchwork pants straddle his thighs as he cups your cheek.

“I love you, Zoro.”

Though you often expressed your emotions through gentle looks and unspoken touches, it’s the first time it’s been spoken aloud.

“I love you too.”

He’s a demon basking in the glory of being bathed in light. Despite your divine appearance, you require no sacrifice of him, no rituals of humiliation—only a piece of his heart.

He gives it over to you whole.

In return he only asks that you stay by his side, following him to the Underworld and sacrificing your chance at salvation to walk through hell with him.

You take the lead, tugging on his hand as you stumble through the fire licking at your feet.

As Zoro begins a new turn around the sun, he counts the amount of times he’s shared sake with you and prays that twelve sinful sips are enough to keep you in his clutches for all his years to come.

River Spirit Nami (Nami Iara)

Once upon a time, a young farmer was enchanted by music coming from the deep jungle, and followed it to the grove of a ricer spirit. Overcome by her beauty, he went to embrace her—and was dragged screaming into the emerald waters below, never to be seen again.

Concept:

One of my favorite skins, Nami Iara is a concept that naturally comes to her. As the game’s “mermaid champion", her skin pool should be entirely dependent on what can be done with her tail. Older skins like Koi or Deep Sea take full advantage of it by casting her as a sea creature, while her more recent skins like Splendid Staff, Cosmic Destiny, Bewitching, and Space Groove don't necessarily do that.

River Spirit fully embraces her mermaid origins, but rather than being the more generic siren-type, River Spirit Nami takes from an indigenous Brazilian folklore. Although, this may have been more due to Cassiopeia already fulfilling that role in this skinline.

"In the forest, under the moonlight...guided by the song of the river...I couldn't believe what I saw."

I grew up reading many different iterations of the Iara myth (though they were all of Mauricio de Sousa’s creations). My favorite, I believe, came from a large green book, a collection of several other Brazilian folklores including the headless mule, the saci, and the pink dolphin.

In this version, Iara is a beautiful indigenous woman who goes out into the forest, gets lost, and becomes a mermaid. It fully omits the conflict of envy and betrayal that is present in most other versions and Iara's death before she transforms. Nami Iara is betrayed and killed by her own tribe, but connects her to base Nami's kindheartedness by opting for the more modern casting of Iara as a guardian of nature, specifically bodies of water. Nami is lured to her death by the threat of pollution and in her rebirth, vows to protect the natural world.

Design:

River Spirit Nami’s concept art is beautiful. I think the design does a wonderful job of conveying her Brazilian, specifically Amazonian, origins through its colors and accessories. It’s always a bit difficult to work with Nami’s “hair” and though it looks great in the concept art and model, I do find it a little difficult to see in-game. What I can appreciate though is the decision to allow her to be topless like many indigenous women, especially those from the group that the Iara myth originated from. The tribal paint also connects her to her indigenous roots while also having some story significance, but it’s mostly used to provide a semblance of a top (interestingly, Nami, as an aquatic/sometimes amphibious being, has breasts but no nipples lol). Lastly, I really do love the design of her staff but I wish that the mirror either had more significance or didn’t exist at all.

Splash Art:

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the splash art. I find it does a good job of portraying that more alluring side of both Iara and Nami.

Model:

The model will almost always look worse than the splash art, especially for champions with older models like Nami. Wild Rift does an excellent job on the model but you really can’t compare the two. Going back to the design, looking at the model head-on does make her forehead appear a little strange, especially with the middle strand that is part of her “hair” in her base form but part of her headdress in this skin. From the sides, though, which is probably the angle the player will usually be seeing the model, it looks quite nice. I also love her tail despite it, as well as the rest of the skin, having more muted colors than the splash art. And though I liked the staff in the concept art, I don’t really like it in the splash or model. The piranhas are cute and I appreciate all the work that went into representing the Iara myth and, by extension, Brazilian culture.

Chromas:

No chromas.

Animations:

The only new animation is in her recall where she is sat on a rock and singing, an obvious reference to Iara. It’s pretty simple, but I do enjoy her head and face movements.

VFX:

Aside from making the water greener, there’s not much of a difference from base Nami. The yellow sparkle-like effects on her abilities are very pretty though.

SFX:

No new sound effects.

However, her recall does feature a vocalization of the very first part of Nami’s theme.

Voice Over:

I previously implied that Nami is not fit to play a vengeful character, but this skin's new voice lines, unique to Brazilian servers, portray her quite well. Like base Nami, she is intent on protecting her home, in this case, the river. However unlike base Nami, she does not have the love of her people to motivate her or fall back on and her voice lines reflect that as she denounces those who have betrayed her while also using that pain to fuel her mission of protecting nature.

Additionally, I'm not sure how many people find Nami "sexy", but she does have a few voice lines that are meant to be more alluring ("I'll meet you where the river bends." or "Your heart? I'll steal it!") as Iara is, above all, a siren who enchants men with her song before dragging them to the bottom of the river to drown. I find these voice lines adorable, more than anything.

Below are some of her new voice lines as well as the several changes to her original ones that were made to be more relevant to the skin’s background:

“We are all tied to the ocean.” —> “We are all tied to nature.”

“I will see my home again.” —> “Will I see my home again?”

(I’m not entirely sure if this is an altered line or a completely new one) “They’re puddle monsters at best.” —> “They’re nothing but traitors.”

“This is minnow’s play.” —> “This is lambari’s (a freshwater fish similar to a tetra) play.”

“Ew, whale breath.” —> “Ew, piranha breath.”

“I moonlight as a shark caller.” —> “I moonlight as an alligator caller.”

“My innocence was my downfall.”

And the fan-favorite ultimate line: “From the source (in reference to birth but also a water source) to your death!”

Value:

This skin is a personal favorite of mine, though not necessarily the most visually appealing. Recent (League of Legends) Nami skins have made her a conventionally cute mermaid girl, which, in turn, reinforces that archetype and generates more conventionally cute mermaid girl skins for her. For 975 RP, I think it’s a much better skin than Koi Nami, but Urf the Nami-Tee is much cheaper at only 750 RP and arguably the cutest of her older skins.

made a spanish speaking friend on wild rift they added me cuz i guess they just liked the vibes of the english i was sending exuberantly in team and all chat that they couldnt understand. maybe it was running burst mage builds on supports like nami and karma so i end up with like a 10/3/24 kda in aram is that appealing to male gamers?
