Riverbed Nightmare Pathfinder
Tumblr media
It’s the find of a lifetime. A dried out riverbed, full of pre-colonial relics, untouched since it bore witness to a brutal battle sometime in the twelfth century. A team of Miskatonic University researchers are dispatched to Clayton River at once, and by July 10th, 1927, work is underway. Then the first people go missing. Riverbed Nightmare Quest During one of the night’s rests, the main character will have a nightmare with a noisy river. You should find the location called Nettle’s Crossing, which is located on the right of Old Sycamore. Head for this location, then go to the top right corner and talk to a ghost. Sep 30, 2018 Getting drawn into this stalemate starts the quest “Riverbed Nightmare”. If you pick the Neutral option you’ll just watch as both sides butcher each other, and Jaethal will show she’s a poor gambler, as the Nixie does not, in fact, have a better chance of winning.
These farming guides are designed to help you gather materials you may need for your chosen professions. All of these guides are up to date with patch 9.0.2
If you are like me, you have many times wondered where the best location would be to farm for certain items. Here I have compiled a list of the best farming places for most items.

Horrific Visions: Living in the Grey
“Things to buy at the market; moonberry juice, parchment and ink, thread for tear in satchel, whetstone for my shovel, pig fat, hon- (the list ends abruptly. Hastily scribbled words make up the rest of the parchment). Victim is experiencing difficulty breathing, fever, delirium, acute pains to the spine and stomach, a light head, and nausea. Likely firethorn. Quick acting poison.” -Oaken’s shopping list.
Wolf eyes opened.
Blurred shapes filled its vision while loud confusing feelings ravaged its mind. It took a deep breath and was shocked with an array of dozens of smells.
Soil, minerals, decaying plants, beasts, flesh, sweat, steel, leather, fabric, viscera.
The wolf’s spine went rigid. Blood, the iron of newly spilt blood.
As the grey wolf blinked, the blurred lumps began to sharpen into distinguished shapes. The world was shaded in blues, greens, and yellows. Among the shapes and colors stood two figures. Their ears were long and pointed, their stance was uncertain. One smelled heavily of the soil. The other had a sweet fragrance. Familiar.
Feeling foreign and lost in its own skin, the grey wolf watched the two beings warily. Something moved behind him. The wolf turned his head to see a large black wolf stepping up to join him.
Alpha.
Black held his proud head high while eyeing the smaller wolf. Grey tucked his tail and bowed his head in submission. The confusing feelings swirling inside of the grey went silent as instinct roared its commands.
The black wolf turned its steel gaze towards the Highbornes. A low rumble sounded through its throat. Pack. We are pack. I am alpha. They are enemy. End them.
Grey snapped his head up, dropped into a crouch and began to stalk forward. Black dropped into a crouch beside him.
The alpha looked upon the sweet smelling one with a challenge in his eyes. He began to advance towards her, leaving the one that smelled of the land to grey.
Grey  circled the Highborne slowly.
She turned with him, never leaving her back opened. A mixture of regret and fierceness stirred in her one exposed eye. The wolf could sense there was something wild in her too. Another alpha? Grey tread uncertainly, searching for a weakness in his opponent. He curled back his lip, showed his teeth and let out a threatening snarl.
As the two circled each other, a small presence tugged at the edges of the wolf’s conscience. A wispy figure began to form behind the one that smelled of the land.
A translucent Kaldorei woman with long flowing green hair stood at the Highborne’s shoulder. She stood tall in sentinel armor and watched grey with careful, knowing eyes. Every step that the Highborne took was mimicked by the Kaldorei. They moved as one.
Grey hesitated. Belong.
His hesitation didn’t go unnoticed. The Highborne acted quickly, pulling roots from the earth with her nature magic, she sent them lurching for the beast’s legs. Grey snarled in surprise and dashed to the side. Maim.
Lunging forward, the wolf clasped his fangs around the elf’s calf and whipped his head around. With a cry, she fell to the ground.
Another cry penetrated the air. This time it was the high whimper of a canine. Alpha.
Grey released the enemy’s leg.
Off to the side, black had retreated a few steps from the sweet smelling one. The fur on his shoulder was singed, revealing flesh that was beginning to blister.
The alpha spared a quick glance at grey. Defend, he growled.
Yellow eyes locked on the flesh burner. Grey lowered his head, glaring at the Highborne with half closed lids. The elf raised her hands nonthreateningly and called something out.
The beast started in a slow stalk then transitioned into a trot, keeping his eyes on the target.
As grey drew nearer, he noticed an earring shaped like a crescent moon dangling from the Highborne’s ear.  With each swing of the crescent moon, images manifested within his head.
The Highborne with the crescent moon stood on the other side of bars. A blend of hope, resolve, and a bit of furry was etched in the lines of her face. The Stockades.
The crescent moon swung.
This time the Highborne was kneeling in her dress by a pile of dirt. A strange sight. Her hands patted the soil down. Steelbloom. The word forced its way into grey’s mind. She turned her head and smiled.
His trotting slowed into a walk. Grey came to a halt a few feet away from crescent moon. Trust. His yellow eyes began to flash silver green.
The crescent moon swung.
A malicious smile curled the Highborne’s lips in an unnatural way. Within a breath’s time she was at his throat with a needle.
The wolf’s hackles rose. Kill.
Springing forward in a powerful leap, grey threw his weight into crescent moon. Her back hit the ground. He burrowed his maw into her, tearing through fabric, sinking his teeth into the softness of her stomach.
A violent cry announced that the other Highborne, the one who smelled of the land, had risen to her feet and had seen the attack.
Grey held on tight. He would see the kill through.
Sharp pain jolted through his spine. He loosened his hold on crescent moon. Blinding pain rippled through his body. Releasing his hold, the wolf stumbled away from the Highborne on unsteady feet.
He began hacking as an acute pain filled his stomach, nausea overtook him. His muscles contracted, leaving him weak.
With a huff, grey fell to his side and began to breath shallowly and rapidly, struggling to fill his lungs properly.
As a foreign substance attacked the wolf’s body, the beast began to retreat. The body sought its natural form.
Wolf paws kicking at air and dirt began to shrink back, taking on a different form. A purple hand tore at the grass as Oaken flipped over. His back arched as he struggled for breath while wave after wave of nausea and pain assaulted him.
“What’s happening?” Ellnara’s voice.
“I don’t know!” Kyndolin.
Kyndolin appeared. She pushed Oaken onto his side. Turning his face toward the earth, he vomited violently and trembled uncontrollably.
After delving into some plant charcoal in his satchel while forcing some of the poison out of his body through nature magic, Oaken was finally able to catch his breath.
Wiping his mouth along his sleeve, he glanced at his friends.
Kyndolin was favoring one leg over the other. Blood trickled down her calf. Ellnara could barely sit at all. Her face held a waxy look as she held her stomach. Oaken stared at the torn fabric and flesh.
Realization slithered its way slowly through the folds of his mind. Turning away, Oaken doubled over and vomited again. This time the poison had little to do with it.

During one of my first nights, I was able to interview Aneokame, the owner and operator of The Brig and the Ashwood Vale Consortium.
Ran by the kaldorei named Aneokame Crowsong, The Brig is a delightful hole-in-the-wall tavern located just outside of the dwarven district. They are open from six to ten bells nightly and offers a quiet, more mature atmosphere. Things here are taken at an easy pace and one does not feel harried or as though they are surrounded by rowdy rabble rousers like at other bars in the city. Their menu includes a variety of high quality wines, meads, ales, and liquors, a true staple. If you do go to the tavern, make sure to try their moonberry mead, as it is truly out of this world!
Next door to The Brig is Miss Crowsong’s shop, the Ashwood Vale Consortium, who offer a wide variety of strange, unusual, rare, and eclectic goods! Some of the goods include potions, tea leaves, dried herbs, books, furs, beautiful jewels, and artifacts! They even have hand sewn dresses and men’s shirts, a perfect boutique if you are going to a ball! If you are ever in need of a custom piece, the Ashwood Vale Consortium should be your go-to place for fine wear! The Ashwood Vale Consortium is open in the afternoons or by appointment! Stop by today!

Next, I was luckily able to speak to a woman that recently joined the Mercantile Society! Her story is of struggles and triumph, and she is a true self-starter! Unlike Haris Pilton, of course.
Jacqueline McLean was but a girl when she arrived to Stormwind from Gilneas. She had had nothing to her name but the clothes on her back! She had to learn the streets rather quickly, and learn what the denizens of the city wanted and needed. From there, she started working on several ships, taking up whatever tasks she could. She became well known in the docks, Jacqueline McLean becoming a common name for the denizens of the harbor. She then found herself working under a nobleman for some time and that is where she began to invest in a more lucrative business. She studied language, rising up to be one of the leading Gilnean diplomats. She is often stationed in Boralus, maintaining relations with the people there and the Alliance.
She captains ‘The Siren’s Rose’. She acquired it by saving for five years, and it is the product of all her hard work since she arrived in the city. Even though she was quite young to commandeer a ship herself, she was able to make her dream a reality! She accomplished her goals at just twenty-five years old. Now she is twenty-eight, and she is her own boss! Some would even say she is the captain of her own sails! She usually employs for other men, besides her first mate, Troy. If you are looking to work on a boat sailing between Stormwind City and Boralus, then ‘The Siren’s Rose’ may be perfect for you!
Jacqueline McLean’s cargo consists of raw materials such as herbs, cloth, and ores, as well as items for personal clients. If you need a reliable captain to navigate your cargo to another port, Jackie is your gal! Her ship is almost always at the harbor in Stormwind or in the harbor of Boralus, when of course, she is not on the seas. Her door is open most of the time, always welcoming to guests!
(Character tumblr: https://shewolf-jacqueline.tumblr.com/, character name: Jåcqueline)

Say goodbye to the unpopular scents! ‘Pumpkin Gut’ and ‘Peppermint’ beard oils are officially being shelved, as they are truly out of season! They will, however, be replaced by two rejuvenating scents, bringing life to your beard!
The first scent is that of extracted anchor weed, an exotic herb found only in Kul Tiras and Zandalar! This scent is reminiscent of the ocean, and the clear oil brings a beard to its full potential! Make your beard smell of the seas and be as soft as a fair maiden’s touch today! This scent is only available in our Boralus location for 21 gold pieces.
The second scent is true to the season is that of wild steelbloom! Now now, gentlemen! It may not sound the manliest, but the flower offers a hardy scent that is sure to have your partners hoping for more! This scent is offered in all stores and in person for 15 gold pieces!

If you are seeking a rowdy experience every other Friday night, then Kegfist Brewery is for you! The popularity of the joint is astounding, full groups entering and enjoying the festivities the Kegfist offer. It seems their name-sake, the ‘kegsmasher’, is quite the hit. From what I’ve seen, it seems to be a heavily potent beverage that gets the party started. I am starting off with the appetizer of ‘Steamed Mushan Mandu’, a dumpling filled with meat from those large, savory reptile. It tastes vaguely fowl, like chicken or duck, but the seasoning is absolutely delicious. I am drinking their ‘Light Tea’, which helps wash down the heavy dumplings. There even seem to be patrons of the other faction at this establishment, a neutral place to ease the tensions of war that is currently crippling our world.
For my entrée, I decided to sample the ‘Way of the Ramen’, ordering myself some greenstone ramen. It contains lean sliced tiger, cabbage, bean sprouts, and carrots. And while it tastes amazing, one of the kickers is that it is cooked right in front of you! The noodles came out perfectly, the texture helping emphasize the stark tastes within the bowl. The tiger was cooked within the stew, soaking in the broth and the juices of the vegetables. The many different tastes bring forth a delightful sense, the textures aiding the tongue. The carrots are soft and almost mushy, yet they taste as though they were freshly picked. I highly recommend this meal, as it is an all around delicious entrée. It even comes with a fortune cookie!
I ordered from the ‘Way of the Grill’ next, Mr. Kegfist’s specialty. I ordered the black pepper ribs and giant shrimp! Yet again, this was a meal that was cooked in front of me, and boy howdy did it look very interesting! Pandaren cuisine is a marvel sometimes. Mr. Kegfist offered me three options for the ribs; mild, spicy, or dragon sauced! I chose spicy, as I consider myself quite the daredevil, but not to any extreme. I am no Sneevil Cogdeevil! Ah, I remember the days of seeing him do his stunts in the salt flats. May he find peace, wherever his is today. The ribs were delectable, falling off the bone and nearly melting in my mouth! The sauce was indeed spicy, and it felt as though I could breathe fire! The shrimp were out of this world, fresh caught and gutted in the establishment, you could taste the ocean on them! They were spicy as well, popping in your mouth as you eat them!
Finally, it was time to take my tastes to the ‘Way of the Fish’! And I am feeling -extra- spicy this evening, so I ordered the dragon sauce calamari! This may have been the spiciest thing I have ever tasted! Though it was absolutely delicious, a staple of the establishment. And yet again, Mr. Kegfist prepared it right before me! Added fun to the whole experience!
Wupoda Kegfist is the owner and head chef of Kegfist Brewery. He is a Pandaren of Halfhill, and he has been growing crops and learning the way of cooking since he was a child! Wupoda gets all of his vegetables fresh from Pandaria, crediting the magical soil for allowing his crops to grow at rapid paces and with massive growth!
Originally, his name was Wupoda Kegfist, Wandering Merchant of a Thousand Ales. It took them many tries to settle down in Pandaria, as they tried Stormwind, Kul Tiras, and a few other random places here and there in an attempt to appeal to different crowds. Then one night, his group were hired to work an event in this establishment, and they never left!
Kegfist Brewery also do catering! You heard that right, and the best way to get them to cater your event is to reach out to Mr. Kegfist through the mail! They have a pricing sheet and a few different modules for folks to find the best catering package for them. Mr. Kegfist’s tip to those of you wanting to break into the catering scene is: “Find your niche. We thrive because there aren’t many Pandaren chefs out there who have made business out of their skill. Find Herbs
Simon waded into the thick of a dense patch of hedge all because he saw some bright yellow flowers taunting him from within. He stomped carefully, trying to check where he placed his angry feet before grounding them, and hoped that he didn’t crush anything valuable. The brush around Hillsbrad could be so stiff and full and thrice already he either got stuck or nearly took out his wide eye from falling right over.
That wild steelbloom was going to be his, though. He was no gardener, just a picker, and didn’t understand how or why some plants grew where they did. Gardener wasn’t the right word. He knew this and simply didn’t care. For an herbalist he was absolutely on the willful amateur side. Educate him not on the specifics of things he didn’t really care about, and give him only the details he had any interest in.
Even though Simon had been waiting a living life to do this work, he was shockingly blasé about being any good at it.
While he maneuvered in the bush with the grace of a dazed spider, his bodyguard observed from several feet away. His hands were folded over the hilt’s knob, the sword stuck in the soil. He patiently (supposedly) waited for Simon to make some sort of progress, but due to past experiences in this, it was gonna take a lot of muttering and cursing and throttling plants before they could move on.
The wicked, greasy tongue lapped at the air. Then it curled inward, flicked outward, and slithered side to side as though he were exercising it. He was, technically, though he thought of it more as a game. What could he do with his inhuman tongue? Up down, side to side, inward outward it went, and he absently began to grind his gritty teeth in his sewn mouth.
Simon cursed, and the warrior tilted his chin up. The stickiness of the viscous black ooze coating his tongue webbed in the small space where his throat was cut open. He felt the cool breeze in that wet, then leveled his head to close it off. Still he ground his teeth, idly chewing on nothing but the nuggets themselves, to ache his jaw.
Oh, his jaw ached. It ached constantly. It stung no matter how hard he clenched it, seeking that satisfying pressure that was akin to chewing on a tender steak. His mind wandered aimlessly between focusing on the clenching and minding Simon. The idiot was picking his stupid flowers now, grumbling away about this and that (“All that bullshit for just six blossoms. I’m going to fucking kill every goddamn plant in this countryside. Six fucking blossoms. I can’t believe how stupid this is. Six goddamn blossoms-- oh fuck, mageroyal!”) and watched as he tried to reach a reach that was too far of a reach for him.
The patchwork man twisted to look around. They were still alone, no animal or passerby in sight. He gazed off into the lush hills, and then up at the gently swaying pines. Hillsbrad was a nice place to be, he thought. It would’ve been a ideal retirement spot back then; maybe he could’ve owned a farm. Suddenly that thought came to a dead stop. Emptiness. Pure emptiness.
His eyes remained on the trees, and then he brought his observations to Simon. He was cold, mechanical again. He chewed on his teeth and he rolled his tongue like a caterpillar’s crawl. Simon was now inelegantly dancing his way out of the brush, hopping on one foot and hiking the other up high. He looked ridiculous and was lucky, once again, to have made it out without dislodging his forcibly wide eyeball.
The moment that Simon had gathered himself and lifted his head to look at his companion, the tongue had stopped moving. He waited until he was approached to yank the sword from the ground and tuck it into its sheath upon his back. Simon was brushing himself off and huffing, adjusting the bag slung around his hip.
“Well that was horseshit,” he told the warrior. “You have no idea.”
When all he (thought he) got was a dead stare that reiterated that Simon was a moron, he rolled his eyes and began to trudge off along the hillside. “C’mon then,” he said glumly. “Let’s keep this party going. The population here is practically dead. I bet there’s some animal around here eating all the steelbloom or I’ve got other competition. Isn’t it kind of inconsiderate,” he asked, looking over his shoulder at the abomination that dutifully followed him, “that I have to look so hard for a plant that’s supposed to be native and thriving around here? I think it’s ridiculous. I’ll bet there’s someone else out here trying to pick it to extinction. Then again..”
Simon continued to talk through his one-way conversation while they walked. The man that was stranger than death, whose head had not been filled with anything but a sinister air, felt the fog lift once again. In his moment of lucidity he looked away at the trees and the breeze fluttering the grass and tried to remember the nice thing he had thought before.
Hillsbrad was so peaceful. It’d be a nice place to get away and spend a fishing trip, or just some time enjoying the countryside. If he could, he’d probably smile. Yes.. it was beautiful here. He’d have liked to visit back in the day. Maybe even retire and start a farm--
His head snapped back to stare at the back of Simon’s head.
His teeth ground together. And ground. And gnashed. And chewed.
And his tongue curled tight.

Healer's Crash Course
Since I've been shot, I've been a bit obligated to actually pay attention to what Mrs Jean Bendon is trying to teach me. On top of the potions, which I might talk about later, she's been keeping a poultice on the injury. Since she showed me how to do it, I'm gonna show you. Before anyone asks, no I'm not showing my wound. It's gross no one wants to see that.
You need three herbs that are pretty common, and honey to bind it. The Thalassian name is in the... Curvy things.
Tumblr media
The leaves at the top are Mountain Silversage (white sage). Personally, I love that crap. You can use it for cooking and it makes shit taste good. But it's really super good for infections. The first day or so I started getting sick and the wound was apparently getting infected. Jean took a whole bunch of these leaves and chewed them up, made me chew some too. They made my mouth tingle. Once they were all broken, she just wadded it into the injury.
It made the skin tingle and stop hurting and when I woke up the next day, it itched like crazy. I don't have a way to not be gross about this, but when we took it off, the infection had come out and the fever broke. Very cool.
The yellow stuff is Wild Steelbloom (yarrow), it's apparently good for stopping bleeding and circulation for really deep injuries. It also helps deep wounds heal more cleanly.
The fluffy green stuff is dried Bruiseweed (mugwort). From what I understand it's for pain relief, speeds healing and helps with bruises and tenderness. It can see a difference on areas where the poultice is as far as the bruise fading. Apparently pregnant women should stay away from it cuz she keeps asking if I'm pregnant. It was funny the first time. She also said something about counter-hex properties but I was too busy being unamused by the fifth pregnancy jab.
Grind it up, mix with honey, slap it on the wound, profit.

Wild Steelbloom
A tough and beautiful mountain herb growing from rocky outcroppings, used for luck and strength.
Colloquial Names: Mountain’s Beauty, Lady Luck
Physical Description: Wild Steelbloom is a small shrub that grows along the mountains surrounding Ashenvale and in the cliffs of Stonetalon Mountains. Its teardrop shaped yellow leaves are accompanied by a spray of yellow-white flowers, with four petals and a center of thick orange pistils. This tough little herb seems to prefer bright sunlight and rocky soil. Like Earthroot, it is almost exclusively found growing on the face of sheer cliffs and mountains. Both petal and leaf are incredibly difficult to tear until dried, making it resistant to grazing by animal and insect alike. It’s best to bring a sharp cutting tool to collect this herb, as it does not easily surrender its place from the earth.
Described Usage: Although this herb is small in stature, its root system is rather extensive. If one can manage to pry it from the rock, its tuberous roots are a warm delicacy for the Night Elves and Tauren who walk the mountains of Stonetalon. The flower is thought to provide luck and ward against dark magicks, specifically those of harpies. It is commonly planted and held in vases around the mountains, and the foul, feathered creatures do seem to cast some disdain towards its presence. The flowers and leaves are customarily dried and ground before being mixed with fresh water. This dilution, when mixed with its second, Goldthorn, creates a revitalizing tea-like elixir when warmed, and a potion of luck and good fortune when boiled and reduced for a period of seven hours. The latter seems to help the people of the mountain navigate the steep cliffs with minor injury or peril, even where peril and injury should undoubtedly have occured. The lack of twisted ankles I treated in Stonetalon still remains remarkably small to me.

Keynelis wasn't sure if Mar would accept a return gift of flowers, and wherever she seemed to have found the ones for him had disappeared from around the camp. So after a bit of snooping through so book and finding a glass he set to work, careful crafting a bunch of wild steelbloom flowers out of ice that would melt slowly before finding and presenting them to Mar "I could not find real ones..I hope you like these?"
The iceflowers looked as if made of crystal. When Mar  took of her gloves,  to carefully- so, so carefully!- touch the flowers awestruck, the texture of every little petal felt cold beneath her callous skin, but yet those petals were just as beautifully soft and silky as a real flowerpetal.
Before Mar herself could even think, she had jumped up, had wrapped a stout arm around the back of Keynelis neck, had pulled him down and had planted a smacking kiss on his cheek, that was as innocent as it was sweet.
For a second she stood there on her tiptoes, her freckled face not even an inch away from Keynelis, her eyes bright and big and very springgreen from the happy smile curling around her full lips.
Then she noticed what she was doing.
Promptly she stepped back, clearing her throat inhibited.
“They are beautiful…”, the Halforc said, in a try to get back the dignity she had lost in her heedless reaction, she straightened her back as if she was about to salute :  “Thank you very much, Sir. You are a very kind man.”

A Guide to Azerothian Herbs
Credit to Dobinson from EU, server unknown
Herbs and their Uses By: Gavin A. Dobinson
Part I: Herbs of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms
Peacebloom-- Peacebloom is a very common and useful plant, often found in sunny, open areas. Its flowers have smooth, white petals and a yellow center. These flowers can be crushed into a poultice that encourages wounds to heal more quickly and discourages infection, and its leaves make a delicious tea that helps ward against minor illness, such as colds.
Silverleaf-- Silverleaf is also a very useful common plant; it grows in shaded areas, and has broad, blue-silver leaves. Silverleaf is a mild stimulant, and its leaves can be made into a tea that increases mental awareness and reflexes. It also seems to enhance the potency of certain other herbs.
Bloodthistle-- This plant is isolated to the far northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms, and cannot grow elsewhere. It is a variety of ordinary thistle that has been changed over thousands of years of exposure to the arcane power of the Sunwell. It has bright green leaves with a soft, flexible spine at the tip and a bright red flower, the color of blood. Normally, ingesting the leaves of the bloodthistle only causes an upset stomach and a severe headache; while it is highly unpleasant, there are generally no lasting ill effects. However, the sin'dorei can process the arcane residue; this creates a brief state of euphoria that also enhances magical power slightly, followed by a period of moderate depression. To the sin'dorei, bloodthistle can be highly addictive. This plant seems to have only one possible practical use. In the case of a sin'dorei being cut off from the Sunwell, a preparation of bloodthistle might be used to stave off arcane withdrawal. However, the magic within these leaves is only an impure residue; it would only work for a short time, and the withdraw from the bloodthistle would make the arcane withdrawal much worse once the preparation wore off.
Earthroot-- The Earthroot is a strange plant; it has rather small, thick evergreen leaves growing out of a dense, gnarled root system that protrudes above the ground, and usually is found in rocky soil. The root is the most useful part of the plant. It has a pleasant, if strong, flavor, and is often ground to be used as a seasoning-- it is too tough to eat whole. Earthroot increases fortitude and stamina, and can even delay physical exhaustion for a time when properly prepared, although doing so has a high cost afterward. It can also be used along with an extract of peacebloom to make a potent elixir that accelerates the natural healing process slightly.
Mageroyal-- Mageroyal is a small shrub with small, purple leaves. It loves magic, and seems to grow best in areas where magic has been used in the past. However, unlike the bloodthistle, it is not harmful; it does not retain tainted magical residue. The flowers and leaves of this plant have a sweet, delicate flavor. They are often used in cooking, and can even be eaten raw. Its roots have a greater concentration of magical energy; the extracted juice, when drank, restores mana to those who are capable of using it, and the root can also be dried and used in a preparation that sharpens the mind. Combined with wild steelbloom, it actually wards against magic, deflecting arcane energy.
Swiftthistle-- Swiftthistle is a symbiotic plant; it grows only in the shadow of other plants, and appears to help them grow. It has succulent, broad, green leaves, and grows very near to the ground. As its name suggests, it is an extremely potent stimulant, much stronger than silverleaf. Used in moderation, it increases reflexes and short-term endurance, and can even block pain for a short time. However, an overdose or regular use over a long period of time can stress the heart, and even cause it to give out. It is said that the wardens of Hyjal make an invigorating tea of this leaf that can substitute for a night's sleep, however, the exact recipe is a closely guarded secret. In my opinion, such a thing would be highly unhealthful, and should only be used in dire circumstances.
Briarthorn-- Briarthorn is a shrub that grows in densely knotted, thorn-covered vines with a thick, woody outer coating. It prefers shady, dark areas, and has no leaves; it is often mistaken for being dead. In the center of the vine is a gooey sap that has incredible medicinal properties. It relieves pain and reduces inflammation when applied to wounds-- it is incredible when used on burns. If ingested-- it has a very unpleasant, bitter taste-- it soothes the stomach and relieves internal swelling. According to legend, briarthorn grows in the places where the Ancient Agamaggan's blood was spilled ten thousand years ago, during the War of the Ancients.
Stranglekelp-- Stranglekelp is a tough vine that grows in salt water, with small compound leaves. Its vines can easily ensnare and drown swimmers and even small boats, which is how it got its name. Stranglekelp leaves are considered a delicacy in some coastal regions, although its strong, earthy, green flavor is something of an acquired taste. Its vines are also sometimes dried and used as ropes. When eaten, stranglekelp helps soothe the pain of arthritis and other maladies of the joints, and increases flexibility. It is also an essential component of an elixir that allows the drinker to breathe water as if it were air for a short time.
Bruiseweed-- Bruiseweed is a tall, thin plant with purple, thistle-like flowers. Its sap attracts blood with enough force that it causes small blood vessels to break on contact with skin, resulting in severe bruising. It must be handled very carefully, and should never be harvested by an amateur. Properly applied, bruiseweed can be used to draw toxins and infection out of wounds, and in tiny amounts bruiseweed sap can boost the efficacy of certain elixirs and tonics without causing harm. This plant is often deadly if eaten, as it will cause significant internal bleeding, but the taste is usually bad enough to prevent anyone from accidentally swallowing it. Liferoot extract can be used as an antidote if administered within five minutes of ingestion.
Wild Steelbloom-- Wild steelbloom, much like its cousin, is a bush with tiny white or yellow flowers. However, unlike the common garden steelbloom, wild steelbloom has potent medicinal properties. It is a tenacious plant, and tends to grow high on steep, rocky slopes. Both varieties of steelbloom are said to ward against evil, which is why garden steelbloom is often planted along the edges of the property. Wild steelbloom relieves pain when its stems are dried and used for tea, and its flowers are often used in potions that ward against magic or negate it.
Grave Moss-- As its name suggests, grave moss is a gray-green moss that grows in graveyards and other places where the dead are laid to rest. It is a very strange and useful plant; it feeds on stray necromantic energy, thus reducing the chances that the dead will accidentally rise. As a result of this stored energy, it is somewhat dangerous to work with until cleansed. However, properly prepared, it can be used in an elixir that wards against shadow energy.
Kingsblood-- Kingsblood appears to be a large, spherical flower; in reality it is made up of many tiny purple blossoms in a spherical shape. According to legend, this flower grows where the blood of kings was once spilled. It is a stimulant. Its roots enhance physical strength and aggression, and its flowers are said to be a potent aphrodisiac.
Dragon’s Teeth-- Dragon’s Teeth is a strange plant. It only grows in a specific region called the Worldbreaker’s Scar, in the Badlands. This valley was carved by Deathwing during his initial assault upon Azeroth, and these strange, white and red plants sprung up in his wake. Oddly, they have a strong link to the element of frost; they are cool to the touch, and can be used to ward against frost or to enhance frost magic.
Firebloom-- Firebloom is a flower that flourishes in hot, dry terrain that would not support most other plant life. It is bright red and orange in color, and easily visible. Firebloom is extremely spicy; in small amounts it can be used as a seasoning, but it can also cause blistering and pain if it touches sensitive skin in large amounts. It is used in some alchemical preparations that call upon fire, but its use as a spice is more common.
Purple Lotus-- Lotuses are a famous and powerful plant, of almost legendary repute. Purple lotuses, while the most common, are still relatively rare, and very potent. They are a small, purple flower with dark purple leaves, and often found near the ruins of troll and Kaldorei cities, as they were used and cultivated by both cultures for shamanistic and druidic rituals, respectively. Purple lotus is said to bring visions and sleep, and can indeed be used in alchemy to either encourage a waking dream, or a dreamless, peaceful sleep. It is also used to create the philosopher’s stone, a needed tool for transmutations.
Arthas’ Tears-- Once known as Stratholme Lilies, this purple flower once grew densely near the city of Strathholme. Although they survived the Culling and the plague-born corruption of the land, the climate changes of the Sundering killed most of them. A few still linger, in remote corners of the world, but it seems that this plant will soon be only a memory. They are best known for their great beauty, but their main alchemical use is for a draught that allows the user to sense the closeness of undead. The irony of this has not gone unheeded.
Sungrass-- Sungrass is a thin, stiff grass that grows in sunny areas; the leaves are sharp enough to leave thin, stinging cuts on the hands, so using gloves when harvesting it is recommended. It is a bright yellow-green in color. Sungrass is most often used to preserve foods and potions-- its essence prevents or discourages rot for a time-- and can also be used in a poultice to prevent necrosis from setting into a wound. Fresh, tender sungrass shoots can also be eaten; they have a lemony acid tang to them.
Blindweed-- Blindweed is a plant with a blue flower; its green leaves have a rough edge. It grows rampant in warm, damp, marshy areas. Its stems and leaves contain a toxin that causes permanent blindness if consumed. However its bulbous, garlic-like root, when properly prepared, has strong magic-amplifying and conducting properties.
Ghost Mushroom-- This incredibly rare mushroom is a pure white, and glows faintly in the dark. It originated in the Zangarmarsh region of Outland, but spores were brought over in the First War, these mushrooms being among the orcish casters' reagents. Ghost mushrooms can now be found in several regions of Azeroth. These mushrooms can only be found in caves; they cannot stand sunlight, or any other bright illumination. They are inedible, but very powerful alchemically, having strong ties to shadows and spirits. They can be used for potions that render the drinker invisible for a short time, or enhances their ability to use the power of spirits.
Gromsblood-- Named for the orc Grom Hellscream, This spry, leafy plant grows in areas affected by fel taint; its leaves start out crimson and turn fel green as they grow and absorb the demonic energy. Some theorize this plant actually works to cleanse the affected lands by drawing out the fel, and are experimenting with this thesis in mind. Gromsblood is extremely potent, and can be used in elixirs that increase physical strength, or as an anti-demonic reagent. However, even when correctly prepared the leaves cannot be entirely cleansed of the fel taint. Therefore, products of Gromsblood should be used sparingly and with great caution.
Golden Sansam-- Golden Sansam is a relatively rare, extremely powerful herb, known to some cultures as the cure-all root. It can take up to six years to fully mature, and is easy to over-harvest. The above-ground leaves look much like the leaves of a carrot and blend in very well with background foliage. Underneath, the root is pointed, somewhat rounded, and the flesh beneath the gold skin is white and somewhat dry. Golden Sansam has incredible healing and restorative properties that fully live up to the plant's reputation. Dried and ground, it can be used by a skilled alchemist in potions that greatly increase resistance to disease and pain, or in an ointment that can instantly heal some wounds.
Dreamfoil-- Dreamfoil is a plant with emerald green leaves. According to the Kaldorei druids, this plant is closely linked to the power of the Emerald Dream. Strangely, it also grows rather well in certain regions of Outland. Dreamfoil has powerful warding properties; dried and hung in a doorway, it drives away vengeful spirits, and it can be used in a variety of alchemical warding potions, as well as elixirs that enhance one's spiritual focus, if the drinker is so inclined.
Mountain Silversage-- As the name suggests, this bush-- the leaves and stems of which are covered with fine silvery 'hairs'-- grows high in the mountains, and is often clinging to the sides of sheer cliffs. Silversage is very difficult to harvest, but extremely valuable and useful. Oil of silversage is a critical ingredient in potions that relieve paralysis, and the leaves can also be used as a component in potions that increase reflex times. It has a distinctive, pungent aroma when crushed or burned.
Sorrowmoss-- This deep purple, water-loving moss is most commonly in the Swamp of Sorrows, in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdom, which is why it is called sorrowmoss. It is an effective detoxification agent; placing a chunk of sorrowmoss in a flask of water will slowly render the water clean and drinkable, for example. It is used as a reagent in a rare and powerful potion that can cure some diseases and even break weak curses. However, it does not grow well outside of the Swamp of Sorrows.
Icecap-- The icecap grows in the far northern part of Kalimdor, mostly in the Winterspring region. It blends into the snow rather well; its flower resembles a downy puff, and its leaves are a dull silvery-green. Icecap is a strongly magical plant, possibly for the sake of surviving in such a cold region. It stays icy cold to the touch, even when taken into a warmer climate; the live plants cannot live in temperatures above freezing for more than a few days. Icecaps are used as an alchemical preserving agent, their innate chill keeping other components from overheating and degrading.
Black Lotus-- The black lotus is a legendary plant. It is said to bloom only once a century, on the night of the new moon. The flower is said to be as black as ink, and venomous. Only a truly gifted alchemist could distill its essence, and with that essence create an elixir of legendary power-- granting, for example, enough fortitude that one could be run through with a sword unflinching and live to tell the tale, the wisdom to solve an riddle thought unsolvable, or the raw power to burn a city to the ground with a mere snap of the fingers. I have yet to meet anyone who has worked with one of these rare plants, so I can neither confirm nor deny these rumors. I suspect, however, that the claims might be a little exaggerated.

☾ sleep headcanon
Percival sleeps like the dead. Real heavy sleeper. Unlike his wife, who has been known to have bouts of insomnia over the years. He rarely noticed when she’d sneak out in the middle of the night.
ൠ random headcanon
This was an old forgotten one from when I first started RP. But originally Percival was allergic to wild steelbloom. He probably still is, but how often does that ever come up in RP?
☠️angry/violent headcanon
When it comes to violence for the sake of magic, Percival is actually pretty indifferent. Killing a person for a spell is no different than crushing a herb for a potion or cracking open a clam for dinner. Which in some ways is a good thing for the victims. They often die swiftly if it’s for the sake of an advanced summoning.
It’s when he’s emotionally invested that he gets more creative with his brand of violence. The longer he holds a grudge, the more he enjoys making an enemy suffer.
