My log is definitely one of my weaker lifts, but I feel confident in my technique. It's just a matter of grinding my way up in terms if weight.

This is just fun lift I'd sometimes do after heavier sets or singles. Basically I'd start with a red on each side, do a lift than add the next plate down to the bar. Continuing like that until I've gotten all the plates on the bar. Not the heaviest lift, but a fun little lift to change things up.

I had my first competition on April 30th, and after having some time to think I figured I'd reflect on my experience.
The competition was Chinooks strongest in Calgary, Alberta and despite coming into the competition severely under qualified resulting in an expected outcome of last place. Not even being able to get a single rep in any of the events. Still my experience was positive and despite my poor performance everyone there was supper supportive and encouraging. There was a great sense of comradery that really helped me feel more comfortable there, and really encouraged me to keep going.
While I lost I don't feel defeated, I still want to keep going and continue training. With my first competition out of the way I feel more comfortable going into my next competition this weekend. I feel more confident and feel I'll be able to make a little improvement over my last competition.

I had a thought recently, as I thought more about Brian Shaws performance at 2022's WSM. I feel like Brian is to hard on himself, as if he's placed this immense pressure on himself and I feel that's what's holding him back. Brian needs to relax and have fun. The man has done so much for the sport and has laid the foundation that so many other lifters have built upon. He's at the point in his career that he should be able to do it for fun. He should be able to do it because he enjoys it. I feel Brian has forgotten how to enjoy lifting. This is a big reason why I changed my workout routine around to be more relaxed. I want to train hard, but I don't want to forget how to enjoy lifting. I want my focus to be on becoming stronger and having fun doing it.

I changed up my training schedule a little bit, essentially I'm trying to relax a little and focus on enjoying my workout. I was using a larger more strick workout, but I found myself stressing more about it and pushing myself to hard. This led to more feelings of burn out. Now what I do is simply pick two or three exercises - usually a mix of at least one good lower body and upper body movement. Plus a few good supporting exercises. This gives me more flexibility in my work out, so I can train hard, but keep it more relaxed. I simply train the areas I want and do the exercise I want. It let's me tailor my workout plan to how I'm feeling each day. I feel like I'm already improving and getting better as an athlete.

Hit a new pr for the atlas stones. Was able to 280lbs, the next heaviest is 335lbs. 8 was able to get 3 reps out of this one, and I feel confident that I could get the 335lbs stone if I came in fresh and did my first or second rep with it.

Who goes around calling a keg toss a "light" workout?
That's like saying eating half a cow is a light supper 😜
It was light given that it was only for about 20 to 30 minutes at most, and at a relatively light weight. My normal workout are normally much heavier and last about 3 to 4 hours.

Had a strange experience this weekend. I was going to do my regular workout Friday, but end up crashing after work and didn't get up till closer to 8pm. Saturday I got in a light workout practicing the keg toss. Sunday I ended up crashing again and didn't really get up till Monday. This also resulted in me not getting my full calorie count in on Friday and Sunday. I managed to get in my workout today, and it went surprisingly well. I figured given my weekend I'd have more trouble with my workout, but once I got going it went vary smooth. My technique felt good, I felt stronger, and was even able to lift heavier. In the moment the weekend felt like a wash, and that I had wasted my time not getting in a full workout and hitting my calorie count. Leaving me feeling a bit uncertain about my ability to be a strength athlete, but after today I feel the weekend was my body forcing me to rest. I find it hard to listen to my body often times o find myself pushing my body as hard as I can, so sometimes my body has to force me to rest. It just sucks in the moment, because you feel like you're weaker than you are. That you're slipping backwards. Perhaps I just need to dedicate more time to sleep on the weekends, and give myself more time to heal from the week.

I believe this was roughly 190lbs, the axle bar is an odd weight so it can be hard to get a nice number to lift. I place axle bar in the same category as squats, squats are a great exercise but I hate doing them. That being said I'd rather do axle bar press than squats, as I feel this to be an extremely effective exercise when it comes to targeting the whole body. It's also one of the easiest and cheapest exercise to setup in yourself. It's a brutal exercise, but one I'd recommend everyone do. Plus it allows you to do shoulder press without a rack.

Here's another stone lifting video I did. This stone was bigger than the one in the last video I posted, but I'm still not sure of the weight. I like lifting natural stones as I find they provide an unique way to lift that provides a solid full body workout. Plus it's nice to workout outside.
I do have more videos to post, but I've been so busy that I tend not to have the energy to do anything in the evening. I'll try to post more videos this week though.

Was able to hit 90kg for 5 reps on the axel bar. The last time I did axel bar in competition I was able to hit a max of 200lbs. Now I'm doing just under that for multiple. Feels good to see my strength increasing.

I can't remember how much weight this was, or if I lifted more or not since this video. I find it difficult to hit maxes or heavy lifts in the gym, still I feel this was definitely a solid lift.

Was finally able to get the 200lbs sandbag to my shoulder. I struggled with it in the past, but now I have the strength and technique down to do it. I look forward to seeing if I can do the 250lbs at some point.

Random squat video. Was testing out the safety bar. I wanted to see how it felt. I personally prefer a regular bar, but I can see the appeal of it. I'd have to do a little more research on the best way to use the safety bar.
