"And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it."
Jacob’s Ladder (1799-1806) Wiliam Blake
"Jacob's Ladder" Talon Abraxas
Tumblr media
"The story of Jacob’s Ladder is an ancient allegorical and biblical tale, describing the alchemical process of reaching complete Gnosis. A symbolic ladder that we all must climb if we wish to reach the spiritual heights of the Divine in the Heavens while we are encased in physical matter here on earth. As we climb, we must purify ourselves, our thoughts, habits and actions, in order to activate all of our senses and DNA." -Gnostic Warrior
Genesis 28: "And Jacob had a dream about a ladder that rested on the earth with its top reaching up to heaven, and God’s angels were going up and down the ladder. When Jacob woke up, he thought, "how awesome is this place, this is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven!”Jacob then took the stone that he had placed under his head, and he set it up as a pillar, and he called that place Bethel, though previously the city had been named Luz."
Ironically LUZ is a girls name of latin and spanish origin that means "LIGHT". It's where we get the english names Lucy and Lucian from. Think LUCifer(Greek: Phosphorus), the LIGHT bringer... or the adjective LUCiferous, which literally means: emitting LIGHT. Certain insects like fireflies and other bioluminescent creatures also contain a chemical enzyme called LUCiferase which makes them Illuminate and GLOW.
It is through our DNA (which contains phosphorus) that we can become conscious to the worlds within and without. It helps us discover who we really are so that we may live in the LIGHT, enter through the "gates of Heaven", and dwell in the land of Bethel aka "The House of God".

The Ghost In My Heart
Warnings: romance and impending doom
Preface: Welcome foolish mortals to part 1 of The Ghost In My Heart. I hope you enjoy your night with the Graceys as much as I enjoyed writing it.
You were fairly new to New Orleans when you got a letter one morning, inviting you to a housewarming party for that evening. The address was about an hour's ride northwest of your chateau. As you arrive that night, you take in the beautiful view of Gracey Manor, handing off your horse to a stable boy and walking through the doors.
Your ears are greeted with banter and laughter, with music drifting through the air. There to greet you as well is a tall man with dark hair and quite the mustache wearing a red vest and a tan overcoat with a white cravat. Next to him stands a woman in a long plum colored silk dress with a pair of black gloves, her hair done up in a curly bun with 2 locks in front of her ears. “Good evening and welcome to Gracey Manor! We’re so glad you could make it. This is my husband William Gracey and I’m Eleanor Gracey,” she puts her hand out. “I’m y/n l/n.” you gently accept her welcome. “Ah I hear you’re also new to the area. How has the bayou treated you so far?” William inquires. “Well it has been quite the adventure I must say. The untamed wilderness here is remarkable.” “And remarkably dangerous.” William says. “Indeed it is, but it’s all in the name of exploring the unknown and the heart of adventure.” he sighs with a smile and nods his head. “You simply must tell us more about your daring adventures here, I’m sure you have some stories to tell so far.” Eleanor remarks while guiding you into the living room and taking 2 cherry brandies from a servant’s tray and handing one over to you. “Well I suppose I do,” You tell the Graceys about your journey from your place of origin to New Orleans and your few but exciting adventures while living there.
The night continued on pleasantly getting to know the Graceys and some of the other local aristocrats. Not that many of them interest you that much, they all seem to be the same, stuck in their class, aristocrats you saw back home. The Graceys were different though, they had a feel of genuine care to them than the others didn't and it was a much appreciated breath of fresh air that you needed from high society.
As you finish off your brandy the song that was playing ends and another more upbeat song begins. Eleanor gasps and takes you and William by the hand. “Oh, I love this song, we must dance!” Eleanor exclaims. “Surely you know how to dance.” William says “Of course. I was a fine dancer back home.” you reply, and she whisks you and Wiliam to the dance floor. Everyone on the dance floor forms a circle and begins to trade places with their dance partners and then eventually trading dance partners. When the song is nearing its end and you feel you are about to drop, you trade dance partners one final time and come face to face with William. He beams at seeing you again, you do the same, and you both skip to the music and time seems to slow. You feel his soft hand in yours and your pulse matches the tempo of the song. You feel this moment could last forever. Then the music stops, pulling you back down to reality. You both bow and the audience applauds. Eleanor returns to William’s side and is practically glowing. You giggle at her appearance. "My it looks like you had a wonderful time." “I love that song and dance, it’s one of my favorites.” she smiles back at you. “It was quite fun indeed.” you reply.
The night winds down for the evening so you step outside onto the front porch with your last brandy, taking in the cool autumn night air as you watch the waxing moon illuminate the landscape before you. “Beautiful, isn’t it?” William’s voice sounded behind you. “Very much so.” you reply. “This house, this land, I’ve traveled to many places and seen so many estates, but none I’ve wanted to settle more than here.” “I couldn’t agree more.” You both stood comfortably in silence for a minute just looking out into the night. “I’d like to say I greatly enjoyed your company tonight. I hope you can return soon. Maybe for a picnic sometime. I’m sure Eleanor would agree.” William asked gently. “I’ll be away for some time, I have some business to attend to in Kentucky, but I’ll return in 3 weeks' time.” “Then I shall see you then.” William smiles warmly at you and walks back inside. You take a breath and summon the stable boy for your horse. You mount your steed and head back to your chateau, your path lit by the milk-light of the moon.

Cauldron Part 3
Tumblr media
He was what his parents liked to call a late bloomer, unlike his sister. Not because he couldn't use magic, but because he didn't want to. He and his sister both contained an extreme amount of magic but Oisin… was too afraid to use it.
When he and Puck were little they were playing with some trick spells that their mother taught them. It was just light. Nothing but pure energy. Rose had pulled just a small amount of her energy from within and held it in her hands. It sparkled and glowed a lovely golden light and carefully she whispered a few small words to it. The glow shifted and shimmered until it was in the shape of a butterfly. When Oisin tried it, however, it didn't turn out so well. As he went to pool his energy in his cupped hands, he found himself feeling full, energized, and powerful. “Oisin!” His mother’s voice echoed in his memories. When he opened his eyes, His sister had fallen unconscious. She collapsed on the floor, pale, almost lifeless. It took a few days for her to recover. He never forgave himself.
The thing about magic is; if you use too much at once your body can be drained of all energy and a mortal body like Oisin’s wouldn't be able to keep himself alive. He would be too drained and his life force would seep out of him, turning him to dust or sand. He had seen it happen with another witch. After that, he prayed that the universe would never let that happen to him and his sister, not again.
The other thing about magic is; if you don't use it enough it will just build up and build up until your little mortal body doesn't know what to do with all the power. It’ll build until your body can't hold it any longer and you snap… you die. So what his mother did was teach him little spells that he could use every day to keep the energy from overwhelming his mortal body but weren't enough to drain him of much energy. It was a challenge to keep the balance but with his mother's help, he had finally mastered enough basic spells that would most likely be helpful in the long run. Oisin hadn't even noticed the kid in front of him. He crashed into him and out of his thoughts, landing flat on the cold tile floor of the hallway. The kid was tall with dark hair and hazel eyes. “Oh hey, sorry about that.” He held out his hand to Oisin with a kind smile. “Thanks, Sorry I wasn't looking where I was going.”Oisin apologized and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m Asher. Asher Lily Van Helsing, but you know… call me Ash.” He said politely. Asher looked like a sweet dude. He was about Oisin’s age and seemed completely normal. The only thing that sent off a million red flags was his name. Van Helsing…
As in… famous vampire hunter from a novel by Bram Stoker. Oisin didn't pay much attention in class but when your own father happens to be a vampire you start to think that people like Bram Stoker weren't just writing straight fiction.  “Oh, uh, Oisin… Oisin Wiliam Nightshade. Nice to meet you.” Oisin lived up to his name. Little Deer, that’s what it meant. His knees shook and all he wanted to do was run away at the sound of Ash’s voice. It was a smooth, sweet hypnotizing voice. So, not particularly scary but still. Ash smiled at him. He smiled back. “So, where are you from?” Oisin’s heart pounded between his ribs but he still smiled. Ash could tell he was shaking. It isn't hard for a hunter to track a deer. “Oh, my family and I are always on the move. It's always been that way. My dad has a pretty complicated job.” The moment the words slipped through Asher’s mouth Oisin got shivers down his spine.
“So what do your parents do?” He asked. Oisin was completely caught off guard. He didn't know what to say. His pale lips were sealed shut. His speckled constellation-covered face drained of all color. But before long his little sister came to save the day. “Oisin what are you doing? You’re supposed to be in the office. Mum is waiting for us.” Her voice had traces of false worry laced through her words. Oisin let out the breath he was holding and looked at his sister who wore her signature black sunglasses. “Sunglasses indoors?” A girl with long blonde hair and red dyed tips stepped closer to Asher. “What are those American Optical?”
“Ray-Bans.”
“Can I see?” She asked, snatching them off of Puck’s face. Puck was completely startled by this girl’s behavior and looked down at the ground, but not before catching a split second of eye contact with Asher’s hazel eyes. They were the strangest pair of eyes she had ever seen… besides hers of course. His were light brown with specks of green and a ring of gold that clung to the pupil.
The girl next to him busily examined the sunglasses for anything useful, not that you could find anything useful in a pair of glasses. “Bianca, cut it out.” Asher took the sunglasses from her and handed them back to Puck who looked at the ground. He smiled down at her. She was only a few inches shorter than he was. Oisin took the glasses and took his sister by the hand. “Sorry, our mom is waiting for us. It was nice to meet you both.” And with that, he pulled his sister away leaving the two teenagers in the hallway.

The Medium and the Nameless Ghouls
Case file 005-4 Nihil file The Yellow kazoo
After finding another soul fragment from Saltarian, Sara, Omega, and Phil decide to recruit Wiliam, Sara's apprentice, and Nihil to help in the search. Will they find the soul fragment before Saltarian and Sister Imperator?
The group made it inside the mansion. The Director Markus was being interrogated by Alexander. Markus noticed Sara wearing the necklace. He used his cane to activate the stone in the neckless.
Alexander notices Sara's necklace glowing red. "How did you do that?" he asks.
Markus unscrewed the head of his cane and twisted the head open. He showed Alexander and Sara his Philosopher's Stone. "This is my grandmother's stone. She gave it to me after she passed away years ago. I hid it in my cane so no one can get their hands on it." Markus Twist the head of his cane shut and screw it back in place. "I was afraid when Sister Rebecca found out about the stone. She could do something crazy with it. So, I got this cane customized. So, I can keep the stone with me at all times."
"Clever move, Markus," Alexander told Markus. "anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you." They shake hands and exchange business cards. "I hope the charges against Rebecca can be put on trial. Once the warrant gets threw the judge."
Sara goes to Alexander. "Hey, Dad. Can you use my phone to call Detective John Stevens? We're ready to finish off the interrogation."
Sergeant Jackson and Detective Stevens went to Copia and the ghouls. They handcuff Sodomizar and Swisstopher.
"Sara, I need to speak to you in private." Lieutenant Kibbles takes Sara to another room. "A ghoul showed up." Sara gasped. "He was telling us that his uniform and mask were stolen."
"Could it be the bishop?" Asked Sara.
"I'm not sure if it was the bishop. You should go and see him. I know you can handle ghouls better than we can." Sara nods.
"Okay, I will work on it." Sara gets out and walks over to William. "William, can you go upstairs and get Terzo for me?" William looks confused. Sara pointed up to the second-floor corridor on the left. "His room is on the left side of the corridor. You find his name on the door of his bedroom."
Markus appears behind Sara. "Are you sure to send the boy upstairs alone?"
"He'll be fine. He just needs to hone his skills with Terzo." Sara told Markus.
"Let me guess," Markus's left eye glows behind his sunglasses. "the boy has a secret power."
Sara's left eye turns white. "He's my apprentice. William Parker is from a long line of spirit mediums. His grandmother is the founder of the Spirit Medium Society. Only those with spiritual powers can become a member. Maria Parker wants William to become a member when he turns eighteen. He can sense spirit energy from objects and artifacts. I think he will make it as the next head of the society."
William makes it to the corridor and checks out the hallway. He sees a phantom of Secondo in his Papal makeup and clothing. "Excuse me, mister?" Secondo looked at William and twitched his right eye. "I'm looking for Terzo. Are you him?"
Secondo smiles and points his staff down the hall. "No, my younger brother is in the last room on the left. I don't know why you want to meet with him."
"Sara wants to talk to him about something. She's my mentor and trainer."
"Yes, I know. You're the apprentice she told me about." Secondo leans over William. "The one who can sense spirit energy from objects and artifacts." William's jaw dropped. "I am Secondo Emeritus. Sara's late uncle." William's eyes fixated on Secondo's staff and traced his fingers on the base of his staff. He felt a strange energy on his fingers. "You can sense the incantation. The spell that is placed on my staff."
William traced the strange symbols on the staff. The symbols glowed green. "Wow. That is so cool." William smiled.
Secondo fades into mist and then turns back into his phantom form. He is wearing his button-down suit and without his makeup on. "If you need anything, I will gladly assist you." Secondo vanishes from the hallway.
William walks over to the room and knocks on the door. Omega opens the door. "Do you want something?"
"Sorry to bother you. Sara wants to talk to Terzo." William told Omega.
"I see..." The paintless Terzo appears behind Omega. "She wants to know more about my death."
Omega rubs the back of his head. "Come in."
William enters the room and sees three painted Terzo fighting over the mirror to fix their makeup. William sees three balls of energy coming from the ones in the mirror. The paintless Terzo yells at them. "Hey, we have a guest! Mind your manners!"
The three looked at paintless Terzo and then straight to William.
"Is he the one who can sense energy from objects?" The tuxedo Terzo told the paintless Terzo.
"Well, yeah. Did you hear that from Sara?" William asked.
Omega smiles and pats William. "She told us about you. We heard your gift is handy in the investigations."
William lowers his head. "I do not want to lose my gift. My dad lost his ability to sense spiritual energy. It upset my grandma."
The papal Terzo spoke to the other two in Italian. They nodded. "How about you take a look around the room. To see what energy you can find."
"Master Terzo, he is still a child." Omega glared at them.
"Hear us out, Omega." The pink shirt, Terzo explained. "There is a piece of my soul somewhere in the room. We can not find the soul anywhere."
"Come to think of it." Terzo used his energy to locate the soul fragment. "I can feel it being close by. Where is it?"
William closed his eyes and reached out his hands. "Can you guys leave? I can feel your spirit energy interfering inside the room."
"Allow me to stay here to keep an eye on William. You must go and see Sara. She's waiting for you." Omega told Terzo. The three decide to go without their makeup on. They took Omega's towel and left the room.
"Do contact me when you find something, Omega." Omega nods as the paintless Terzo leaves the room.
Omega sees William take deep breaths as he moves around the room. "I can feel a strong spiritual energy. It's dormant."
Omega uses his demonic eyes to see the energy waves. "I can't see any spiritual energy."
"Give it some time. Spirit energy can't be forced. It will appear on its own when the time is right." William looks at Omega. "It was something that Sara taught me." William inches close to Terzo's working desk. "I can feel something here." William opened the pencil drawer on the desk. He uses his fingers to feel pens and paper.
"It is not in this drawer. Let us try another one." Omega told William. Will nods at Omega.
William felt his hand being guided to the top-left drawer of the desk. He opens the drawer to find an opened compartment with a dusty yellow kazoo. "A yellow kazoo?" William takes it out of the drawer. "Omega, I can feel a strong spiritual energy coming from the kazoo."
Omega sees a purple glow from the kazoo. "This is Master Terzo's favorite toy." Omega starts to remember Terzo's first time on stage playing the song, Zombie Queen with the yellow kazoo. "He was really good at playing that thing." Omega starts to cry. "He was banned from playing it. The sound was getting annoying."
Omega takes the kazoo from William and summons the soul fragment out of the kazoo. The soul takes the form of Terzo in a white tuxedo with gold trimming. The soul floated into the air before slowly landing on the bed.
William looks at Omega. "I'm not kissing him."
Phil knocks on the door panel. "Is everything alright?" William points at the bed. Phil looks shocked at the sleeping soul of Terzo on the bed. "I have to get Sara!" Phil ran to Primo's study. Sara and the four Terzo Fragments look at Phil in the doorway.
"Phil, is everything okay?" Asked Sara.
Phil rushes over to Sara's ear and whispers. "Your apprentice found a soul fragment."
"He found what?!" Sara yelled.
Phil grabs Sara. "Come with me." He puts her on his back and runs to Terzo's bedroom. "Take a look at what he found." He takes Sara off his back.
Sara goes to Terzo's bed and looks at the sleeping soul fragment. "Phil, get me some latex gloves and my phone." Phil left the room. Sara raised her hand at William. "Nice job, Will."
William gave Sara a high five. "I love it when you give me a random test with my powers."
"At least I know you're not rusty." Sara and William see the four Terzo fragments enter the room. "Boys, say hello to fragment number five." Papal Terzo took his hat and placed it on his desk. Phil arrived with Alexander and Detective Stevens. "Phil, did you get what I asked for?"
"Yes, I did." Phil gives Sara a box of rubber gloves. "Do you need help?"
"Yes, please, I need your energy to keep his soul stable," Sara said as she put on the rubber gloves. Phil nods and holds out his wings. "thank you, Phil."
"Sara?" Detective Stevens tossed a digital camera to her.
Sara takes pictures of the sleeping Terzo. "Terzo Emeritus, age 62." She gets a close-up of his neck. She removes his gold clip-on tie and opens the top buttons of his shirt. She examines Terzo's clean neck. "Detective, this one has no scar." Detective Stevens takes a look.
"You're right." Detective Stevens takes the camera and takes photos of Terzo's clean neck. "He is an odd one. All the others show the scar of decapitation. This man shows no noticeable scar."
The sleeping Terzo hums as he wakes up from his sleep. He yawns and then stretches out. He reaches over to Sara and pulls her over to his face. "Don't I get a morning kiss?" Terzo puckers his lips.
Sara put two fingers on Terzo's mouth. "Not with your niece, Uncle Terzo." Sara smiles big. The awakened Terzo looks shocked and sits up from the bed.
He sees the other soul fragments standing by his work desk. "What is going on here? Am I dead?" They sadly look away from him. "Who are you people?" The awakened Terzo began to panic. Phil and Omega rushed over to Terzo's side. Omega grabbed Terzo and held him close to his chest.
Omega's beating heart calmed Terzo down. "It is okay, Master Terzo," Phil whispered. "we are here for you." Phil gently rubs Terzo's back.
Terzo hugs Omega and cries. "Omega," Omega holds Terzo tightly. "Omega, why?"
"It is okay, Master Terzo. You are here. That is what matters." Phil tries to calm him down.
"Sister Imperator..." Terzo wispered.
"She's been arrested," Sara told Terzo. "Uncle Terzo, Sister Rebecca Imperator is in the police detention center."
"I... see..." Terzo fades into a purple mist.
"Master!" Phil and Omega yelled. Phil uses his demonic powers to gather the purple mist. He opens his mouth and inhales it. Phil's wings grew large and covered his body. A pentagram glows on the floor under Phil. Phil opens up his wings. He shows himself as Terzo. The pentagram vanishes. Phil faints on the floor. Sara uses her left eye on Phil.
"Terzo's soul is slowly fusing back together. It's going to take some time for Terzo to recover." Sara sighs in relief. "Thank goodness. A little bit longer, his soul fragment would have vanished."
Omega Picks up Phil and carries him to the bed. "I will keep an eye on him. To see if there are any changes."
"Sara, can we talk downstairs?" Alexander sternly asked.
"Sure, Dad." Sara goes to William. "Will, can you go with Detective Stevens? He is going to take you to the crime scene. Is that okay with you?"
"Sure thing, Sara." William nods.
"Don't forget to wear gloves." Sara reminds him.
"Okay." William takes the box of gloves and leaves with Detective Stevens.
Sara notices Papal Terzo looking down in his open desk drawer. "Is there something wrong?"
Terzo looks at her in shock. "My diary is gone!" His skin grew pale as he stared into her face.
"I didn't see it when I was with the boy," Omega called out. "I will help you look for it, amore mio."
"Grazie, mio caro." Terzo goes over to Omega and kisses him.
"Please, not in front of my daughter," Alexander complained. "that is something for the bedroom."
"You are in my bedroom, signore." Terzo smile.
"Vaffanculo anche tu, stronzo." Terzo's jaw dropped at Alexander's words as he walked away with Sara.

Corey and Oats in…
Scream If You Wanna Have Fun: A 2022 Halloween Spooktacular.
Those who are followers of the previous adventures of Corey and Oats would be no doubt familiar with the 2021 halloween special which was Corey’s first halloween adventure, and now Corey’s about to go on his second adventure. It was October 31st 2022 which meant one thing…our microbial friend and his pretty horsie friend were going to have another halloween adventure. The two were at their house in Nile Road that morning sleeping when Mel woke them up, she informed the two it was time to dress up.
Corey dressed up as a bat and Oats dressed up as a unicorn princess as the duo followed Mel to the bedroom as she pulled out a magical key which she used to transport the three of the to a special area which took them on a path to a Spirit Halloween store. They had been to Spirit Halloween a couple of times before but they also noticed their friends David, Rhys, Kara and Rebecca were there too helping out, sorting out the animatronic display. David had picked himself up that werewolf doll from Home Depot that played the song ‘Macho Man’ and he had shown it to his friends, but a peculiar thing happened as he did as hairs started growing on his hands and he gained a bit of musculature.
“Hey…David, I didn’t know you liked to work out a lot.”
“I don’t, at least not normally…hmmmm.”
David slowly began to gain muscle mass as dark gray fur coated his body and his fingernails lengthened, he grew a little bit in height..as his hands altered and enlarged as did his feet which sported black longer than normal toenails that resembled claws. His jacket turned orange and developed a checkered pattern as he removed his shirt, his blue jeans remained as normal though as his ears slowly stretched out and became pointed as his eyebrows thickened and turned black while his eyes turned yellow, his facial features slowly pushed out into a lupine muzzle as he completed his transformation…turning into a living version of the werewolf doll he had bought. ‘I was worried you were going to become inanimate.’ ‘Don’t you worry, I personally would loathe that if that happened to me.’
Corey found himself turning into a bat-creature as Oats turned into a female version of himself who was a princess. Damon found himself develop black fur on his hands and arms which enlarged as he bulked up, in addition to this he gained a stripey yellowish vest as a pair of cymbals manifested in his hands which he played with as his feet shifted to become like the hand feet of a monkey or an ape as his his pants also changed.
The fur slowly spread all over him before reaching his face, as his eyes glowed an eerie yellow color and his features becoming primate-like and his teeth sharpened, he looked rather a lot like he was a living version of the animatronic version of Monty as his transformation finished, he kept his mind though and was fascinated by what was happening to everyone as he saw Rebecca turning into Evelyn Leech and Rhys turning into Headless Kelp, Corey saw his good friend Tim Burton over by the Beetlejuice section of the story along with Winona Ryder and the two of them got to speak to the ghost of Glenn Shadix, which delighted Oats because Oats was a fan of his and he even sometimes dressed like his characters. Oats was even more delighted when he saw Mel talking to her ghostly friend Robin Wiliams, who was cracking up people in the store with his classic monster impersonations. The ghost of Gilbert Gottfried was also there, messing with some guests in the store by pretending to be Claude Rains in the Invisible Man and also checking out the props and makeup.
“You seem to really love this.”
‘I know I've always been a monster kid!’ Gilbert laughed. Mel put on an Elvira costume and found herself turning into Elvira herself but still keeping her mind, as the group ran around the store having fun. Corey met up with Shorty and had a boxing match with him before going over to Regan Macneil and asking her for her autograph which she gave to him, they played around with Lil Skellibones and Mr Dark. And even got excited when they saw Buzzsaw entering…’I loved you in the movie.’ Oats exclaimed. ‘Thanks.’
Then Corey and Oats went through the tunnel of death and saw the tubes with the bubbles of death before being greeted by Lord Raven. Corey put some badges and stickers in a bucket for all their friends at the store before buying some versions of the animatronics and some Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice things as well as some special horror character clothing. In addition to that they discovered all sorts of treasures.
Afterwards they paid for their items and decided to have a party in the store, Oats looked at Robin and hugged him. ‘Robin, you’re my hero. You taught me so much about how to find happiness and also you taught me that it’s okay to be sad sometimes.’ ‘I am glad that I could help you.’ They partied in the store and even got to see all sorts of kooky monsters.
They left the store before going exploring in a haunted house attraction where they saw real ghosts and monsters, and they even met Master Gracey, Constance Hatchaway, Ezra, Ramsley and the hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion ride and movie. Corey and Oats also took part in a musical number before paying a visit to their friends in Kinzville and going to the reading room clubhouse where they got some candy from the ghost that's haunting the place.
Oats saw Bojack the Cyldesdale in his cute little scarecrow costume and he also saw the webkinz Nightmare and he was happy to see her, he hugged her and she gave him a special halloween present to go with his outfit and form…a magic tiara, which made him super happy. A couple of hours later they decided to return back to their home in Nile Road to have a party of their own where they all partied and had halloween fun. In the afternoon they all played webkinz and warped up some of their karaoke songs, they had lunch before that though.
When it came around to the evening time they put on a special karaoke song that was a compilation of halloween songs and everyone joined in, they then had dinner and relaxed. The last songs they performed that night were ‘Born on Halloween’ ‘Music of the Night’ (which they dedicated to Carmela) and Lullaby by The Cure. When it was over Corey picked up the microphone. ‘We’d like to thank you all for coming to our karaoke party…we hope you all enjoyed yourselves, have yourselves a safe and wonderful halloween, don’t let the monsters, demons and microbes get you, and we wish you all a good evening.’
The audience cheered as the trio returned to normal, after that they relaxed and had fun. When they went into their bedroom that night, they snuggled up with Mel and had sweet halloweeny dreams about their adventures. As the bed transformed, turning into a floating ghost train that took them on a tour of haunted places throughout the world, with Tim Burton as the conductor.
Also they encountered many halloweeny kinzville pets who loved Oats’s costume and loved Corey. Corey greeted every one of them with a smile as they had a wonderful halloween tour. And thus with out this special and the adventure both come to an end but don't be sad, there are more coming up, stay tuned for Corey and Oats in the Canadian Aykroyd Massacre, Oats and Corey at the Kinsgwood Halloween Ball, Corey and Oats in ‘A Visit to the Horror Museum’ and Corey and Oats in…’Corey and Oats’s Galactic Journey’ which will take them to a special Star Wars exhibition.

after birth
i’ve always been mad that we never got to see what happened when mulder went in to bring scully to the hospital after she gave birth to wiliam, so this is that scene.
big big thanks to my favorite ladies @absolutetosh @scintillatingbluefishies and @stellaxxgibson for the beta and love.
also i’m on ao3 now. https://archiveofourown.org/users/R00M203
_____________
He rushes in. The sounds of screeching tires and car horns are thick and muffled in his pounding ears.
“Scully! Scully!! Where is she?!”
He isn’t  sure if he is  actually speaking; his senses overwhelmed by swirling dust, helicopter roar, moving cars, and complete, utter panic.
Peering through moving windows at lifeless eyes, he screams her name for what feels like hours.
Through the polluted air he sees a familiar face. The surrounding erratic movement makes him dizzy, but he walks towards the face, struggling to move quickly, feeling as if his body is submerged in molasses.
Monica.
“Mulder!” She calls, finally spotting him through the smokey lights.
He tries to analyze her expression, but can’t discern if her apparent  lack of panic is real or just what he is trying so desperately to see.
“How is she?” he yells, finally picking up speed towards her. The ground beneath his feet feels like beach sand, seemingly requiring every muscle to move forward.
“She’s inside!”
As if breaking through a barrier, he pushes past her through the splintered wooden doorway. Monica catches his arm.
“She needs to get to the hospital.”
He nods, pausing for the first time in what seems like days to prepare himself for what he’s about to see. He breathes in, and enters.
Scully is laying on a small metal framed bed, in a grey t-shirt he’s never seen. She’s underneath what he guesses used to be white sheets, but are now stained red. Red, he takes note, that is still pooling between her legs. She glows in the candle light, wet hair stuck to her skin, face glistening in a mixture of tears and sweat. Her eyes flutter inconsistently. She cradles a bundle on her chest.
“Scully,” he exhales, a breath that seemingly propels his stuck feet toward her.
Her drooping eyes snap as he reaches her. She turns, using the last of her strength to shield the bundle beneath her.
“MONICA,” she screams.
He feels the pulsing in his chest quicken. He’s never heard such piercing panic in her voice. Not in all of the kidnappings, attacks, or abductions had he heard such penetrating fear erupt from her. She always seemed eerily calm when her life was threatened. His stomach churns at the realization that this time it wasn’t her life she was fighting for.
“Scully, it’s me. I’m here. Are you okay? Is the baby okay?”
“Get away from me!” She spits, her head still turned away from him, her spine curving protectively over the now crying bundle. “Don’t touch my baby.”
Her breath begins to quicken. She groans quietly under her breath.
She needs to get to the hospital.
Just as he remembers Monica’s words, he hears her voice.
“Dana, it’s okay, it’s just Mulder,” she soothes, rushing to the other side of the bed.
“How do you know?! They can look like ANYONE,” she gasps. “He’s normal …. he’s not what you thought …. please …. leave my baby alone.” She pants into the bundle, her voice getting weaker the longer she talks. She’s struggling for air.
“It’s a boy,” Mulder whispers, his heart suddenly in his throat. At the sight of blood still pooling between her legs, he suddenly snaps into gear.
“Scully, it’s me! Look!” He gestures to Monica who helps tilt her face towards him. He turns around, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Oh my god, Mulder,” she exhales, a breath that quickly transforms into an exhausted sob. “How did you find us?”
“She’s losing too much blood,” Monica warns. “We need to get her to the helicopter now.”
“No– NO,” Scully suddenly spouts in another adrenaline filled burst. “You can’t move me until the umbilical cord is cut, and he needs at least another 3 minutes.”
“Scully,” Mulder starts, kneeling down to her, “You’re losing a lot of blood. We need to get you to a hos-”
“I know I’m losing blood,” she shakes her head back and forth, “I’ve been losing blood. But he isn’t … My vitals are low so it’s taking longer … for him to get the nutrients he needs.” She pants, out of breath, “Please … a few more minutes.”
She adjusts the baby on her chest, the shirt stretched down and over him so his skin is against hers. Mulder sees the top of his head– wet and red. Normal.
The baby turns his little face to see what all the commotion is about. As Mulder watches the small blue eyes darting about the room and the tiny hands clutching at Scully’s collar bone, he feels a tightness spread across his chest. Tears flood his eyes. He reaches out to touch him gently, then her. Scully closes her eyes and releases the weight of her head against his hand.
“Scully, you’re freezing,” he whispers.
“I’m going into shock,” she says plainly. “I’m hemorrhaging … not enough blood is getting to my organs … so my body is … shutting down.” She shakes her head and gulps in an attempt to control her breath. “It could be because my… uterus didn’t contract enough … after he was born … or there could be a tear …or–”
“Scully, we need to go,” Monica starts.
“One more minute,” she commands in a voice so powerful they both know there is no way to refuse.
Feeling unbearably helpless, Mulder tucks a strand of drenched hair behind her ear. She smiles slightly.
“Monica, I need you … to massage my lower stomach … it stimulates contractions which …   slows the shock,” she chokes out, her voice getting smaller with each word.
Monica jumps to her feet and presses into her abdomen. Scully cries out involuntarily and Monica freezes.
“No … that’s right … keep going,” she grimaces and lets out a sharp exhale. Mulder squeezes her clammy hand.
“Listen to me, Mulder,” she starts, looking into his flooding eyes intently. “In thirty seconds … you need to cut …the umbilical cord. Then…you both are going to… fuck,” she closes her eyes in frustration and inhales as slowly as she can, “pull out my placenta.” She exhales, exhausted, clearly using all the strength in her body to continue talking.
He nods as she continues. “I don’t know …if I can stay awake…. to talk you through it.” Tears flood her eyes and he moves a hand to wipe the escaped ones away, ignoring the wetness scattering across his own hot cheeks.
“Once the umbilical cord…. is cut…. one of you needs to press on my stomach…. like,” she gestures to Monica’s current motion, “and the other needs to grab the cord…. and pull gently.”
He nods eagerly, fear evidently plastered across his face. She winces but continues to talk, her voice noticeably straining.
“Now….when it’s out…. ah…. there’s going to be even more blood,” she gulps and takes as deep a breath as she can muster, “Mulder–”
He cradles her head in his hands and listens more intently than he ever has in his entire life.
“Everything you need for him…. is in my apartment…”
“Scully, what are you–”
“Don’t buy storebrand formula…. it's not good for him… my mom will tell you what kind to buy…. since I won’t be able to–”
“Scully, stop.”
“And hold him against your skin…. when you feed him….it’s bonding… for both of you.”
“Scully you don’t–”
“And sing to him …. when you put him to sleep.” Her chest rises and falls quickly. She lays her head back. “I know you hate your voice but–”
“Scully, listen to me,” he takes her face in his hands. “You don’t need to tell me these things because you’re going to do them. We’re going to get both of you out of here. Safely. Okay?”
She looks at him dreamily, her eyes beginning to gloss over. She’s not reacting to the pain anymore.
“Scully— Scully, I can’t do this without you. You have to stay with me. Please–” his voice catches as his throat constricts. He gulps down a rising sob.
“Kiss me,” she whispers.
Holding the back of her damp neck, he presses his lips to hers with more fear and love and pain than he thought was possible. They inhale together. He pulls back and looks into her closing eyes.
“I love you,” she breathes into his parted lips.
He kisses her again, but this time she doesn’t inhale with him. He feels her suddenly limp in his hands, beneath his lips. He pulls away.
“Scully? Scully!” He yells, lifting her face up, trying to shake her awake.
“I’m cutting it now,” he announces to Monica, who’s already handing him scissors.
“Press here,” Monica orders, moving to the red space between her legs as he replaces her hands with his.
He does, and as she pulls, he feels movement beneath his hands, beneath her cold skin. Monica gasps as she successfully removes the placenta and the increased amount of blood Scully warned of spills from her too.
“I’ll carry her. Tell the pilot we’re coming,” Mulder shouts, already drenched in red as he hooks his arms under her legs.
“I’ll grab the baby,” Monica starts but Mulder quickly interrupts.
“No, leave him,” he pants, “I have them both.”
Not about to waste any time arguing, Monica runs out of the little wooden house into the dust storm that is now outside.
Mulder scoops up Scully, making sure the baby is still perfectly nestled in her arms. The baby begins to squirm, letting out a quiet cry.
“It’s okay little one, you’re safe. Everything’s gonna be okay.” He repeats the last thought again, more to himself than to his son.
Her head bobs as he runs, as quickly as he can, to the helicopter. He tries to shield their faces from the swirling dust. Unconscious, she still cradles the baby perfectly against her chest.
It takes Mulder, Monica, and the Pilot to get her limp body into the helicopter safely. Mulder follows. He cradles her and their child in his lap, forgetting the blood, forgetting the super soldiers, forgetting everything. He rocks back and forth, whispering the closest thing he’s ever said to a prayer against her cold, soft hair curling against his lips.

This is an image by one of my favourite photographers Chloe Sheppard. She has multiple images from this shoot and i love them all. This is one of my favourites. I like the use of light, this shot feels really natural to me. Shot at sunset there isn’t too much light to work with but it has a cool temperature.
Tumblr media
Shot By WIliam Verbeeck. I quite like how these shots are further away from the subject and how he has also included more of the background and his dog. I would like to try this out with someone. This shot uses harsh direct sunlight. You can see it highlights one of part of his face and body while the other side is covered in shadows.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both these photos are shot by Rosie Matheson. The first photo has beautifull captured natural daylight and this has brightened up the subjects face. The second photo has a darkera and duller light to work with. I love the use of a low apetrure that is only focused on his eyes, it really makes them shine. Both these photos are great examples of beautiful portaits using natural light.
Tumblr media
Shot by Leo Berne. This shot uses dappled lighting and direct sunlight. I believe the photographer has posed the model in this position to get the sunlight to cast across her eyes. This is nice shot which feels natural.
Tumblr media
This shot is using daylight again but this time using a reflector. You can see that there isn’t too much light in this shot but some is shiny through a window. A reflector has been used to fill in the shadows from under his eyes. His eyes are glowing and shiny and his face is nicely highlighted. The background is nicely highlighted as well.

(submission) Your new years surprise...
nuttyperfectionenthusiast a proposé ce billet à norwegianssweethearts: Your new years surprise...
Spot on, when it comes to Noora and her attachment issues. This is the thing most of the haters don’t get about her and William (in my opinion and I would love to hear yours). The only way for Noora to actually end up in a relationship with someone, was if that person pushed her and did not give up. Whenever Noora says no to William, she wants him to persuade her by reasuring her, that he cares. The few people, who are close to her are the ones who did not give up on her, when she said no. Eskil is extreme in not respecting Nooras “no” and not listening, when Noora brushes him off, yet he is probably the closest to her. We all thought Noora learnt the lesson, when she called Eva in S2E11 and told her William broke up with her, yet it took her ½ a year to tell anyone, Sana, what really heppened in London.
Conclusion: Our girl needs her man… Sorry its late and I am babbeling.. thanks for your Noora alalysis from last week. It was so interesting. I would love to hear your thoughts on those last scenes in S4, where JA is playing with the fans or the hate. You mentioned this a while back. Good night everyone. I hope you all made it into 2018 safe and sound.
Thank you for coming back with your thoughts!
I see what you mean about Noora and “no” and I think... it’s a tricky question? I agree that no IS no, and I agree that William maybe should have taken the hint and given up. I mean, when you say no to a boy but he doesn’t listen to you, it’s kind of... irritating. However, if we’re talking about N/W only, I’ve never thought Noora was telling him a clear no, so *shrugs*. She was rejecting him in a playful way and I mean... imo it was more flirting than telling him no convincingly. It’s implied that she initiated the deal between them and she agreed to go on a date with him, so I mean... honestly? *shrugs* lol. But more to your point, yes definitely, Noora needs to be reassured. She lets people be friends with her more than she is friends with people. She does it with Eskild, with Sana, Vilde... She calls Eva in 2x11 but I think that it’s more because the girls asked her to let them know how it went (maybe?). She is definitely a kind of ‘loner’ and yeah, I agree if W had not been a bit persistent, they wouldn’t have ended up together.
About the last episodes of the last season. First, a little disclaimer: this is my opinion, and I don’t know Julie at all so I’m probably projecting. (I would have definitely done it that way but maybe she didn’t.) I don’t think Julie, Mari, or even Thomas, cry themselves to sleep every night because people do not like season 2/William/Noorhelm. I don’t even think they care that much, to be honest. It’s probably annoying for J and M. T has his own fans, I don’ t think hate hits his insta comments/twitter. For him, being mistaken for W is probably a bit disturbing for various reasons but it’s not the subject right now.
First, I don’t really think Thomas coming back was like totally unplanned/a surprise for them. By that, I mean that I don’t think J rewrote the entire season just because T agreed to come back. I think when she decided that it would be the last, she decided to tie up every plot and decided that noorhelm would be endgame even if she couldn’t *convince* T to come back for a few episodes. That’s why the “William subject” was brought up on 4x01, imo. They used the whole email thing (*clears throat* FB messenger is way quicker and easier, but Noora wanted to write him an Email? sure). I don’t know when/how T agreed to be there for the last episodes but I mean, I think the E-mail worked because they could easily say that William had answered and it would have done the trick. So, yes, I think J wanted/expected T to come back because it was the last season ever. She maybe knew it was a possibility, they have always seemed to be on good terms.  So I think Noorhelm was always gonna be a thing in the last season of Skam in her mind.
But then, Thomas accepted to come back. The scenes where he appears are very cute, in our perspective. They’re also...  very intense I would say. It’s very ‘Skam’. I think it fits with every other episode, but I think J had a little fun. First, with the Penetrators grand entrance. It’s a bit dramatic, with the slo-mo and all. She kept under wraps that William would come back, so maximum impact. Then, she had Noora (!!) disappear with Wiliam for 4 days. For us, it’s like... normal but it can be frustrating for some people lol. Everybody was looking for her. Vilde (yes, she made Vilde say that lol) even voices her concern. “We don’t know him blabla” but look! another slo-mo and Noora is glowing, dressed in William’s clothes, not caring about anything else than her boyfriend. ouch. She says that they talked about everything, she even thanks Sana for the E-mail. She doesn’t explain much more because well, it’s not her season. There are a lot of implications, though. in 4x10, Eskild even says that he doesn’t like William. I don’t remember what exactly he says but he basically tells Linn that it’s Noora’s decision and that they can’t do anything about it, I think. Then there’s obviously William’s clip where you see them being ... at peace. Noora teases him, she is doing her own thing and we learn that he decided to come back for her. It’s showing that decisions were made, that they’re happy but that it’s not just ‘physical’. We later also learn that William lost everything he went to London for.  J ends their journey with the last scene, where Noora asks William for sex.  Like, I don’ t know how to explain it. I think she wrote the end that way because she wanted them to have their happy ending but went just a bit further just because... well she can. It’s her show. You can growl all you want, spread your hate however you want, at the end of the day, noorhelm is endgame because it’s her show. (I’m not saying people shouldn’t voice their disapproval, it was just so funny to me to see the last episodes because I was like “Oh, Julie!” every time haha)
Hope I made what I meant clearer.

Story of A Hero- 23
{First}{Previous}{Mobile}{Next} Jazz was sitting on Will and the twins’ table monday at Lunch. She held a mysterious cardboard box on her lap and, for a moment, Will was confused…
Until he saw the familiar green lightning bolt logo. Instead of confused, he became excited, and nearly bounded over to the box. Jazz grinned at him, but continued to hold it close even as he approached. “So… Weird thing, but my sister came outta her room this morning. She gave me this. Made me promise not to let anyone but you touch what’s in it. And then, she ate breakfast with me and walked me to the bus. I don’t know what this thing is, and I don’t care. But I know you did something, and because of it, I got to see my sister, and hear her laugh and stuff. So whatever this is? You take good care of it.” She spoke with a serious tone, yet also seemed happy. Will was happy for her.
He nodded. “I know you said you don’t care to know, but… that box likely has my parents’ research,” he explained. “Oh,” Jazz said, understanding blooming on her face. She gave him a cheerful smile. “Explains why it’s so important… And why she’d only trust you with it.” Even though she didn’t know Will, as far as Jazz was aware. He held the box with the same care she had. “She trusted you with it, too. I think that’s a good thing?” “I think so too.” Their conversation ended when Percy and Lily arrived. She rejoined her table, and they ate together. It was hard to concentrate through the rest of the day, with the anticipation and fear all welling up at once. What could it contain?
-x-x-x
The box contained an external harddrive, as well as a note, written in green glitter pen. William decided to start with that first.
“Fun fact,” it read “A friend of mine has ‘Anaesthesia Awareness’. Waking up during the herein described procedures caused damage to his Adex. (Read up on subject KX-023) This break is what allowed us to break free.
I believe in you, William.  Let the mistakes of our past become the tools to build a better future.
Tessa Nickols (xxx-xxx-xxxx. Let me know if you need any more help. Give my number to Kat too. I miss that brat.)
PS- For privacy reasons, many names and faces have been redacted. Hope you understand.
PPS- Hard drive password is your sister’s middle name.”
Diana. The password was Diana. William wondered if that was done by Tessa or by his parents, but he only wondered briefly.
The amount of stuff here was… Intimidating. He didn’t even know where to start. He had to take a deep breath and center himself to even try to tackle this. Maybe… weed out the unnecessary stuff? Grant applications. Letters to investors. A bunch of other money related things. That was irrelevant to his studies. It went into a special folder. Just in case. Facility descriptions… As the document began with nothing but maps of the facility, William was going to ignore it, until he noticed that there were several pages. The building only had four floors, if he remembered correctly. There should only be four pages, if it was nothing but maps.
“As this is a foreign field of research, much of our equipment has required upgrades, and some custom equipment has been needed to advance our research.”
The section below the maps continued on, describing what kind of upgrades and changes had been made to existing equipment. It was all incredibly fascinating to William, but one very specific section caught his attention.
It described, in great detail, a special instrument created to measure and observe resonance.
“Tests have revealed that Adex exude a special energy. It has been named “resonance” due to the way it reacts within human subjects. With this, resonance can be observed and measured. This advance has increased the success rate of forced symbiosis to 98.7% Forcing symbiosis with two subjects who’s resonances do not match almost always results in MEIR-Type entities, and/or loss of one or both subjects. Forcing symbiosis with a subject that exudes no resonance at all results in failure 100% of the time.”
“So resonance has… types. And this thing they made shows them in different colors,” he said to himself, and scribbled this fact into a notebook. To his surprise, Imshael hopped onto his desk. “Hello,” they greeted, before curling into a ball near the keyboard. “I want to help.” “You… want to… help?” William repeated, confused. The words themselves were not confusing, but rather the ‘who’ they were spoken by. Even after the first time he’d heard Imshael during training, they’d still stayed so quiet Will almost forgot they COULD speak. “Well, yes. Bayesh and I feel I may have answers to questions you might have. I am, after all, an Adex. You’d assume I would know a few things about myself.” “I think assuming that would be kind of silly. Humans have to learn about their bodies, I’m sure you guys do, too. But...unlike us, there is no school for adex.” “True,” they said, swishing their tail to and fro, “But you learn things with age. Like the fact that resonance’s color matches the color of the adex itself. The color of the thing within you. It also tends to dictate what kind of abilities we will grant. I’ve come to notice white adex mean white light, for instance.” William scribbled that down, and gave her a few small pets as thanks.
Then, he continued to read.
None of it was nearly as interesting as the resonance testing equipment, and most of it made him grumble in disgust. The schematics for Meir containment cells. The dampeners that kept the ‘subjects’ from using their powers. All kinds of resonance sapping weaponry.
“Oh. Hey, maybe that could be useful for… I don’t know, fighting bad guys?” Harley suggested. For a moment, William considered keeping the documents and then sending them to Angel. She’d know what to do with them, and how to make them into weapons that could be used to fight metahumans and meirs without the need for HeroNet. But William turned to Tessa’s letter once more, and sighed. “We promised we’d never let anyone else see this research, Harley. I’m not going to betray Tess’ trust…” William reminded her. Harley looked down, and would probably frown if her muzzle would allow. “Oh. My apologies. Shall I leave?” Imshael asked. William looked down to them, then back to the screen, and then to Harley. “Immy’s technically not another person… They’re an Adex.” While true, William gave a sigh. Technicalities didn’t sit well with him. But he had Tessa’s number, so he decided to ask her.
[Will] Hi Tessa, this is William Kray. We received the hard drive safely, but my father’s Adex wants to help. You said not to let anyone else see what’s on this drive.
[Peony] Oh! A wild Will! Right down to business, I see. Call me Peony, kay? Wow. She answered pretty fast. But Jazz did say that she never left her room, so she likely always had her phone.
[Peony] Would Kat trust this Adex? Knowing who your parents are, I would say there’s no one more trustworthy. But ultimately, I kept this stuff safe FOR your sister.
[Will] Right. Thank you, Peony.
Kat… She wouldn’t be angry if William let Imshael see the data. But she WOULD be angry if it was used to hurt anyone. So, ultimately, Wiliam chose to put a pin in it and continue to read.
He moved on to the folder that contained actual test results.
“KY subjects?” William read out loud. There were twenty entries, but no indication what the KY stood for. William had to examine them, and after a few, he noticed the pattern.
“These are… Older than me. The subjects were all adults… This must be the initial testing for forced symbiosis… Look, this person is deceased,” he pointed out. The other four sets of eyes looked to where he was pointing.
“Of course. Adults can’t fuse with us. The necessary changes can not be done to an already fully formed body. That it took them twenty people to notice,” Imshael grumbled. “Well… I guess… The good news is that they only resorted to using children because nothing else would work… Granted they could have just… Not continued their research on forced fusion.” “Not every question needs to be answered,” Harley agreed. “Like… I don’t actually want to know how many bugs I can fit in my mouth?” While Imshael and Harley continued to list off examples of things they did not need to know the answer to, William skimmed through the rest of the KY files, but they were ultimately more of the same.
He moved on to the KX subjects. Those he knew. “Kx-01 subject. 12 year old female. Volunteer, informed consent (See risk waiver) blah blah…” William read out loud, frowning. “This girl became their first Meir… But they ‘learned a great deal about Meirs, how to contain them, and how to destroy them’ thanks to her… I… Don’t…” William had to step away for a moment. Destroy. They meant kill. Murder. End a life, maybe even two. He couldn’t bear to read about the tests they did on the meir. He closed the file and moved on. More Meirs. More deaths. Some children saved at the cost of their Adex being destroyed. Few successes, until... “This one’s different. KX-14,” Will eventually said, his brow relaxing from the ever deepening frown he’d had previously. “Different how?” Imshael asked. “Successful symbiosis with ANB72… Result, the ability to mimic the abilities of other Adex. KX14’s ability has allowed us to predict the type of abilities an adex will have-”...Basically, this says she’s the reason we know Adex colors correspond to what kind of power they’ll give. She also… ‘claims to see a faint colorful glow’ coming from the Adex.’... She could… See resonance?” Though Harley was wagging her tail enthusiastically,  Imshael showed no sign of interest. Their tail just… swished lazily. “Immy, there’s people who can see Resonance! Isn’t that cool?” he asked, putting his hands near them, but they didn’t move. “I suppose?” they said. William frowned. “You knew already.” “Yes. Sorry. I see you’re excited. I do not mean to detract from your excitement.” Imshael’s apathy aside, William continued, noticing that there was a small note at the end of kx-14’s file. They weren’t the only person to see Resonance, but it took until subject 19 to realize that this phenomena was a real thing and not a stress induced hallucination or something of the sort. From there, there was a lot more successes. 22, however, was an outlier.
Succesful at first, the stress and isolation turned them into a Meir. “Dr. Evergarden decided to use the Meir to test out the powers of successful subjects, beginning project Nightmeir.” It linked to the project, but this William refused to click. He continued.
Kx-023. William picked up Peony’s note and looked again. She’s mentioned this subject, told him to look.
“Subject awoke during procedure. Panic caused a small scuffle until he could be sedated again. No lives lost, but Adex suffered damage. See Incident reports.” And dated later, a note had been added stating :”Subject releases small amounts of Resonance even with Dampeners. Without dampeners, subject can not control his ability and destroys anything he touches. (Re: Request- Wall repair in B2-B wing,)” And a little later still, “Subject experiences blackening of veins in hands (What??) Sent to medical examination immediately, but no medical reasons have been found. He is perfectly healthy. Maybe this is caused by the Adex damage? Continue monitoring.”
William looked back to the floor plan, on an inkling that this wall that needed repairs might be one that resulted in the collapse.
Unfortunately, he realized that he was not an architect and couldn’t really figure it out, so he returned to his reading.
There were few deviations. Meirs, successes… He could tell that it was around there that they’d managed to get the Resonance measuring machine working. Hell, even the number of consenting subjects rose the closer he got to his sister’s number.
There wasn’t much to learn, but he did notice a naming pattern for the Adex, and understood they were named by their color. From there, he compiled a list of Adex colors and their abilities… But there was one strange code he didn’t understand. Some adex codes started with an “A”, but they were few. 14, 24,72…
Wait.
72? 72 was…

Outstanding Auction Record for Ian Fairweather at Deutscher + Hackett
Rarely has the Cell Block Theatre at the National Art School seen so many art industry personalities, insiders and habitués as at the Deutscher + Hackett’s fine art auction on 10 April 2019. Many would have been there to observe how Charles Blackman’s Alice on the Table (lot 9) fared, after the artist’s Sleeping Alice offered just the previous night at Sotheby’s did not awaken. With hopes of $1.5 to $2 million, Alice on the Table sold for $1.35 million hammer price or $1.647 million including buyer’s premium - not exactly flying, but respectably standing up for herself. In the event, auction records were set for Bronwyn Oliver’s Unity (lot 2) with $330,000 hp and Ian Fairweather’s Barbecue (lot 23) selling for $1.4 million hp. The sale achieved a total of $9.008 million IBP, with 100% sold by value and 87 % sold by volume.
[caption id="attachment_5736" align="alignleft" width="300"] Lot 23, Ian Fairweather, Barbecue, set a spectacular auction record for the artist: estimated at $800,000 to $1.2 million, it sold to a room bidder for $1.4 million hammer price.[/caption]
Continuing on from the night before at Sotheby’s with two extraordinary results and auction records for two interior scene woodblocks selling for $201,000 and $260,000 IBP, Cressida Campbell expanded her commanding presence on the Australian art market at Deutscher + Hackett – and perhaps suitably at the National Art School, as this is where the artist graduated from in 1979 and where she developed her unique print making techniques. These new game changing results that practically doubled her prices overnight are highly likely to affect the primary market and will no doubt be watched closely by Campbell’s primary dealers Philip Bacon in Brisbane and international dealer Simon Lee with galleries in London, New York and Hong Kong, and will surely have a lasting effect on her prices and standing.
Speaking of commanding presence: Campbell’s The Ebro, Gore Bay, 1987 (lot 1) is a striking early example of her genius, rich in colour. Unsurprisingly, its $40,000-60,000 estimates were looking rather tame compared to the $80,000 hammer price, whilst even a large edition screenprint of 99 The Verandah also from 1987 (lot 81) sold for $12,000 hp, doubling the low estimate of $6,000-9,000, aptly illustrating auctioneer Scott Livesey’s comment on Cressida Campbell being “The Talk of the Town”.
Sadly, Bronwyn Oliver is no longer with us, but we are at least fortunate that the legacy of her art is so exceptional. It is however exceptionally rare. Unity, 2001 (lot 2) was sold by Deutscher + Hackett previously almost ten years ago in 2010 for $110,000 hp. The rise in value has also been considerable for these major works. A most comparable sculpture slightly smaller in diameter, Blaze, 2003, was sold also by Deutscher + Hackett in May 2017, achieving the second highest price at auction of $240,000 hp. However, the re-emergence of such an important and scarce work by Oliver was enough to excite buyers leaving the expectations of $200,000-250,000 well behind, finally selling for $330,000 hp, a new auction record for Bronwyn Oliver.
Leading the way into a number of abstract compositions by various artists was Rosalie Gascoigne’s Honey Flow, 1985 (lot 3). The vertical wood arrangement perhaps discouraged some buyers, and it sold for $100,000 hp, below its $120,000-160,000 estimates.
A particular favourite of D+H director Damian Hackett, Ralph Balson’s dreamy Matter Painting, 1962 (lot 4), was strongly bid, selling for $34,000 hp and above the high hope of $30,000. Following this abstract theme, Godfrey Miller’s similarly dated Crucifixion, 1961-64 (lot 5), achieved a handsome $85,000 hp on expectations of $60,000-80,000.
Rocking through those glorious 1960s, while Yvonne Audette’s Conversations between the Stars, 1964 (lot 6) didn’t light up the heavens, it still sold at the low estimate for $70,000 hp, the fourth highest price for the artist at auction. The last of this little run of delightful abstract paintings elicited considerable interest. Dale Frank’s Jeremy Huguenot, 2000 (lot 7) doubled its low estimate of $25,000, selling for $50,000 hp, suggesting a number of potential buyers had already picked out the perfect spot for it in their home.
The much talked about UK collection of paintings containing lots 9 to 20 included the ultimate trophy picture Alice on the Table, 1956 (lot 9), from Charles Blackman’s iconic and ground breaking Alice in Wonderland series of paintings. It sold below its low $1.5 million estimate, but nonetheless for a very lofty $1.35 million, placing the work firmly as the third highest price ever paid for a painting by Charles Blackman, behind Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, 1956, sold by Sotheby’s in 2017 for $1.55 million hp and The Game of Chess, 1945, sold in 2016 also by Sotheby’s for 1.475 million hp.
The surprise non-sale of the evening would have to be Justin O’Brien’s serene Two Figures in a Room, 1990 – 1993 (lot 10), from the same important UK collection. With what appeared to be very enticing estimates starting at $150,000, it failed to excite any bidding enthusiasm and passed in.
There was more interest for Arthur Boyd’s The Old Mine, 1951 (lot 11): this painting with its rich detail and ethereal glow had been off market for 25 years after selling with Sotheby’s in April 1995 for $140,000 hp. Last night it sold for a healthy $350,000 on hopes of $350,000-500,000,
William Strutt’s Slack Times, 1883 (lot 13) achieved the highest price at auction for the artist when sold at Menzies in April 1998 of $170,000 hp. As we know, art goes up and art goes down, and changes in taste no doubt affect a painting of this kind. Victorian sentimentalist art like the one offered would be a difficult sell I imagine without a large reduction in price expectation. Estimated at $200,000-350,000 it failed to find a buyer on the night.
More joy was just around the corner however: whilst Fred Williams gouache paintings often feel undervalued in the market, there was no such reticence to pay a higher price, in fact the highest price for a work on paper by this master of the Australian landscape. Lysterfield, c1968 (lot 24) was estimated at a modest if not unexpected $45,000-65,000 which fired the interest of several keen bidders. After much deliberation from phone bidders, auctioneer Roger McIlroy finally hammered it down for $87,000 hp, while the following lot Australian Landscape, 1969 (lot 25), a major oil by Fred Wiliams, sought to meet buyer expectations rather than the vendor’s, selling for $440,000 hp on $500,000-650,000 hopes.
It was a similar tale for John Brack’s Four Pairs and a Single, 1971 (lot 26). The painting with Joseph Brown Gallery provenance sold at $75,000 below the low estimate of $550,000 for $475,000, perhaps enabling the buyer to purchase another picture with their savings. They could have secured David Boyd’s Truganini – The Drowning of her Betrothed, 1959 (lot 28) had they wished, as it sold for $68,000 hp, just below expectations of $70,000-90,000.
There is inevitably great joy in consigning pictures for sale at $1 million plus for a fine art auctioneer. Consigning two therefore would be double the joy. On the downside, if neither sell, it potentially leaves a very big hole in your sale results and your bottom line too no doubt. Million dollar plus painting number 1, Blackman’s Alice on the Table (lot 9) successfully made it, but what of lot 23? Would the monumental masterpiece Barbecue, 1963 by Ian Fairweather (lot 23) run out of gas before it reached the magical million dollar mark? Estimated at $800,000 to $1.2 million, this was in line with Gethsemane, 1958, the painting de-accessioned from the Art Gallery of NSW collection in 2010, and sold with Deutscher + Hackett for $800,000 hp. Hopes were high that Barbecue, an equally if not more spectacular work, would eclipse this result.
After an absentee bid of $750,000 got things moving, it was Damian Hackett’s phone against a gentleman in the room on the phone to his client. Bidding was orderly and consistent between these two very serious bidders, the magic million dollar achieved by the gent in the room. Mr Hackett’s bidder was quick to come back with his own $50,000 increment bid, and so it went $1.1 million / 1.15 million until the calm, cool and collected room bidder ultimately triumphed over Hackett securing the ultimate prize and what could only be considered as an outstanding result for the vendor of this painting selling for $1.4 million hp, a truly ground breaking new auction record for this much lauded artist.
The other Ian Fairweather offered on the night, Sea Anemones, 1957 (lot 32), from the Kerry Hill AC collection, Singapore, also did well: estimated at $200,000-250,000, it sold comfortably mid-range for $230,000 hp.
The vibrant and engaging Autumn Hillside, Heidelberg, c1900 (lot 37) by Emanuel Phillips Fox sold below its low estimate of $30,000 for $28,000 hp. Not so for the next lot, his wife’s Ethel Carrick Fox’ Flower Market, Nice, c1926 (lot 38): it attracted numerous bids and achieved a very nice $55,000 hp.
On the back of the fabulous John Peter Russell exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Rocher au Chien, Clos Marin, Belle-Ile, 1897 (lot 39), was a gift from the artist and was somewhat of a gift to the buyer too. It went to a room bidder for $320,000, $20,000 above its low estimate.
A stunning still life painting with fruit and flowers by Hans Heysen (lot 42) - famously rejected by Anna Pavlova in prima donna fashion by letter in June 1928 – was embraced by its new owner last night. Estimated at $65,000-85,000, the high point of expectations was just enough to secure this major work.
The luminescent Yarra Sunset, c1930 (lot 43) by Clarice Beckett hit the right note with buyers, selling exactly on its low estimate hopes.
Mortimer Menpes’ Archer, c1897 (lot 63) was aiming high: bidding was furious and the $15,000-20,000 estimates were overshot very quickly, with the room bidder finally giving way to the persistent phone bidder who ultimately paid $60,000 hp, three times the high estimate.
Demand for the best works by Ben Quilty at auction is consistently high. Although modest in size at 21 x 21 cm, The Dead Pirate, 2005 (lot 75), a gift from Quilty to deceased artist Adam Cullen, garnered large interest, as this pirate sailed way above the high estimate of $15,000, finally becalmed at $24,000 hp.
Guy Boyd’s bronze sculptures rarely surpass $10,000 at auction, and given the $5,000-7,000 estimate on Lovers Changing into a Tree, c1969 (lot 94), the auctioneer thought them appropriate. Bidders however had a different view, and as one dogged room bidder found out, he at least had the vocal support of the audience who were on his side when he missed out on this exquisite example of Boyd’s work at $21,000 hp, the third highest price for a Guy Boyd sculpture at auction.

Corey and Oats in…
Scream If You Wanna Have Fun: A 2022 Halloween Spooktacular.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Those who are followers of the previous adventures of Corey and Oats would be no doubt familiar with the 2021 halloween special which was Corey’s first halloween adventure, and now Corey’s about to go on his second adventure.
