I’ve been thinking about how Hannibal’s inner urge is being seen by Will, so what does he do when he has to frame him? He forces Abigail’s ear in his throat. This is Hannibal who - if we follow canon - was forced to eat his own little sister. A young girl he felt strong responsibility to, who he felt he had to protect. Who maybe even anchored him to the world.
So he feeds Will a body part belonging to Abigail. In all the horror, Hannibal is desperately saying “this is what made me into what I am and maybe it will make you understand me, but you do not have to endure my pain. Abigail can have what Mischa did not. She can live.”
Of course he says that no one made him but come on, he’s not a reliable narrator, we know that.
That’s maybe one of the reasons why he says to Will in Mizumono “I let you know me, see me” and then he kills Abigail. If Will has betrayed him, the lesson has not been thorough. Will needs the real experience, and so he kills Abigail in front of him. It’s not so weird, after all, that as soon as he recovers from the events in Mizumono Will goes to Hannibal’s Castle.
