“Will-o-wisps commonly haunt deserted, dangerous places such as bogs, fens, swamps, or catacombs where mires, quicksand, pit traps and the like are plentiful.” (AD&D Monster Manual, TSR, 1977) The Monster Manual II established that the boggart was an immature will-o-wisp.

A group of us decided to swap bitties and draw them in costumes for Halloween. We might do it for Christmas as well.
Mine is of Gilbert, created by @cranberrytea451, dresses as a particular will o' the wisp called the Lantern Man. It is also inspired by "The Hermit" tarot cards.
Beth Wisperlicht is the 16-year-old daughter of a Will-O-Wisp and student at Nocturnal High, the boarding school for troubled Ghouls and Mansters. The most approachable of the quadruplets, Beth is friendly and kind, but lacks a great deal of self-confidence and is reluctant to try new things, which often holds her back from making close friends or truly connecting with people on more than a surface level.
Relying on her sisters for most of her life, Beth struggles to tackle challenges on her own, leading to anxious outbursts which she is trying to overcome.

Seriously, while the search function still needs a little work, if you can imagine it for a tabletop game, there's a good chance someone has attempted it. I decided I want to have an encounter with some will-o-wisps for Age of Antiquity and sure enough, I found a neat design for them!
Deep in the solemn beauty of the Brunch Bog, a group known as the House of Dinn floats upon its bountiful surface of greens and blues. Originating from parts of France and West Africa, they are guided by Madame Fabienne, who created many hauntingly spicy dishes and Mealsters. One famous dish and most common Mealster to encounter is Gumb-O-Wisp, a floating apparition of a shrimp that lights the way for the chefs of the House of Dinn and is a shining distraction to enemies. Although not physically strong, these Mealsters make up for it in cunning and magic—honestly, a dish for the tongue to remember and the bowels to forget.
For #FilAmHistoryMonth and #Inktober I thought I’d learn about Philippine mythology using the #Engkantober prompts @malamaya.Noel put together a few years back! First is Santelmo 🔥
Apoy ni Santelmo, the eerie light that has captured many an imagination and led many more astray. It has many other names, this one heavily hispanicized, but the phenomena is scientifically known as Ball Lightning.
Adric has been on many adventures trying to find his lost home after a massive storm blew the "Blue Flower" off her course. It's been nearly 20 years now and he's decided it's finally time to confront the mysterious blue flame that has haunted him his entire life.
Perhaps it is the one responsible for all their misfortunes?
Toby sniffled as his oldest brother wrapped an ice cube in a paper towel and then pressed it into his hand.
"There. Now just hold it for a few minutes, and you'll be all better."
On the sidelines, his second oldest brother was quirking an eyebrow. "How'd you manage to burn yourself, anyway? Ain't holding fire one of your fairy powers?"
Toby turned to him with a confused frown. "What, you mean this?" Casually, he held up his uninjured hand, which burst into bluish-white flames. "But that's my fire," he said, as though it should have been obvious.
His human brothers stared for a moment. Cautiously, the older one held his palm out toward Toby's flaming hand. He could feel the heat.
"Alright, but we've had enough accidents today. Turn that off before you burn the house down."
