SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8TH, 2018. at the WINTER WONDERLAND GALA.

          “Take it from me--- the little dishes of black bubble stuff are not some kind of strange blackberry jam.” All it took was spitting a mouthful of it at one of the committee members for her to realize. At the time, Natalie wanted to find a deep hole and die, but now with a few glasses of champagne in her system it seemed like the funniest thing in the world. “I thought it just looked different ‘cause it was made fresh, you know? But apparently it’s fish eggs. That kind of misunderstanding is exactly why I shouldn’t be allowed at this sort of thing.”

   Dinner, dancing, visiting - Grayson’s participation in the events of gala were going wonderfully, but it had all felt better when he was with his beautiful date for the night. His goal had just been to get to know her, have a good time, and he hadn’t wanted to put much expectations on the evening - but as far as he was concerned, it had gone extremely well, both of their nerves aside. Grayson and she seemed to float apart after another game of secrets, or questions this time, and he found himself being yelled at - by Fitz, of all people. Once the altercation was said and done, Gray was feeling a bit crowded by the faces, drinking and smiling, the gala still in full throw. 

  His eyes sought out Alana, eager to have her presence after a bad moment with someone he considered a friend. She could fix it, turn the evening back into something of magic and excitement, but his place by the bar where it was most crowded made it hard to really catch sight of anything. Plus - they were both a bit on the shorter side, but by a stroke of luck, he noticed that glimmering dress across the ballroom. Gray’s eyes marked the spot she disappeared from, a door leading to.. well, he didn’t know. 

   After a few minutes, Gray pushed his way through the last couple, handsy and clearly in love as they displayed the fact all over each other in the privacy of the corner, and he opened the door, stepping through. “Alana?” He asked, blinking in the darkness of the evenings, realized he’d stepped out onto a little smoking area outside, of sorts.

On Saturday, December 8th, 2018, Sydney Sullivan was honored during a small ceremony at the annual Winter Wonderland Gala in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ms. Sullivan, a newly recruited paramedic with the Wilmington Fire Department, briefly attended alongside her date, Mr. Lucas Reeves, before the pair slipped off to pursue their own activities for the remainder of the evening.

        Pulling the champagne flute filled with sparkling cider away from her lips, Scarlett leaned against the open bar top and did what she does best - people watched. Being at the gala for more than an hour now, she chatted, danced, and chatted some more. Feeling like she needed some air and a breather, she decided to let someone else take her place and head to the closest door she could see. Opening it, her bare arms, chest, and legs were instantly hit with cold air. It was cold enough to feel good against her skin and give her some goosebumps. Taking in the beautiful campus ahead, she spotted someone familiar not too far away. Walking closer to get a better look, she knew it was Aydin in a heartbeat. “Aydin, hey.” She spoke in a soft tone to not make him jump from surprise. “I’m glad to see you here. What are you doing out here all by yourself?” ( @aydinpolat. )

If only to make one Carys Beren smile, Doctor Holden James Fox accepted his invitation to the annual Winter Wonderland Gala in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Though the doctor (and veteran) has been invited to the event consecutively for the last decade, this will be his first year of attendance. The man went so far as to take the weekend off of work, renting a suite for himself and his beloved. Holden enjoyed the evening in his finest crisp-black suit, surrounded by co-workers, close friends, twin sister, and his gorgeous date.

On Saturday, December 8th, 2018, Weston Taylor attended the Annual Winter Wonderland Gala accompanied by both family and friends, after a rather long stint on the road with best friend @spencerbayer.  Due to his recent promotion, Weston was honored among his team in the beginning of the night for their courageous duties within Firehouse 72 — located in Wilmington, NC. He received a handshake and a tearful cheer from the audience, as the infamous wreckage and birth of Alicia Palmeiro’s son had been the winning factor of his promotion — now nearly a month away from it’s one year anniversay.

❥ THE WINTER GALA 2018.

While grandparents Robert and Colleen Dayton have been going to the gala nearly every year, this is Heather's second time in attendance. Previously seen as a shindig for Robert to support the first responders he had once worked alongside with and just a 'grown-up' event, the Winter Wonderland Gala had been recognized in her eyes as a perfect time to get groovy on the dancefloor with friends. Plus, it was a rare opportunity to experiment playing fancy for a night. Strapless dresses are a rare find in her wardrobe, as well as the wavy half-updo being an exclusive holiday-only appearance when comes to hair. Paired with a white leather clutch, Heather has arrived in Chapel Hill fully prepared this time around by carrying a Ziploc bag in light of last year's dessert-stuffing activities. Shout out to @taylor-carson because she knows exactly what goes on and to dear @annabelxw for assisting with the sweet mission last time.

Helena Jade Draper — Winter Wonderland Gala 2018

Only after the promise of hard liquor and a nice hotel room did Helena agree to attend the Winter Wonderland Gala. She couldn’t remember the last time she wore a dress this fancy — even for prom, the blonde wore a twenty-dollar dress off of a Kohl’s rack. However, with a little bit of nudging from @scarlettmontgcmery​, she decided to go a bit outside of her comfort zone. Arm in arm with her date for the night, @ashleyfox​, and a black clutch containing her phone, a lighter and a pack of cigarettes, she felt that maybe — just maybe — she’d be able to survive the night.

On the night of December 3rd, 2018, the doorbell rang with a delivery to one young trauma surgeon. It was a dress in a bag from her own sister, refusing to accept her excuse of having nothing to wear as a reason to not attend this year. Thus, on the night of December 8th, 2018 Bexley Maxwell attended the Winter Gala with her sister ( @esmemaxwell ) and was one of the many hospital staff honored and in attendance.

On Saturday, December 8th, 2018, Asher Lewis attended the annual Winter Wonderland Gala in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mr. Lewis, joined by his sister Ms. Natalie Lewis, forwent his Dress Blue, choosing instead a simple grey suit and maroon tie. Sources indicate that the man arrived well kept, his hair slicked back and cut, and beard trimmed in a respectable fashion. It was also said that Mr. Lewis spent a good portion of the evening wearing his usual scowl and displeased eye for the dates of some of the ladies in attendance. @nctalielewis looked gorgeous in her chosen attire, a dress that is said to have been a gift from her sullen brother.

   There had been some dread leading up to the moments before he and Alana got to the gala, but together they had braved through, and now after a few minutes of finding their footing inside, it seemed she’d been caught by a friend or two, leaving Grayson by himself for a moment. He let her smile and greet those she was friendly with, some of the faces unknown to him, and let his own gaze search the ballroom for someone he could give an awkward little wave at. It was occasions like these that made him realize how truly removed he felt, at times, from his hometown and the folk who co-existed with him. 

   A blonde head, stunning and smooth in her pure white gown, caught Grayson’s eye as she moved effortlessly through the smiling faces. She put a smile on his own, nudging his way closer, and giving that ever so awkward hey look over here wave. “Hey,” He greeted her when he’d gotten enough of her attention to speak. It’d been weeks, probably, since he’d swung by the ranch. “Been awhile since I’ve seen the cookie lady. Are all these cute little food things giving you inspiration?”
