Whistling Up The Wind - A Technique For Calling The Wind to Your Aid

Of the spirits of the elements out there that I have worked with, the wind has so far been the easiest and most useful.

Before getting started, I suggest spending some time getting to know the wind spirits around you. Sit outside and feel the wind. Let your energy out to flow and ride with them, feel the world from their perspective. In my experience, they are usually quite friendly and curious. Once you've done that, you're ready to get started.

First, create your whistle. Mine is just the first three notes of the Hunger Games whistle, but it can literally be any sequence you want.

Once you have your whistle in place, head outside and either stand or sit. Gather energy around you (in whatever way you normally would), then use that energy to become a beacon. Something that says "I'm here! I am calling!" I picture myself holding up one of those old 90s ribbon dancer toys above my head like an antenna. This gets the spirits' attention. Now, focus on the wind and that you want to call it to blow around you, then whistle. This may take practice as you and the wind build your own language together.

Eventually, you will get to a point where you can call the wind spirits whenever you like. I got to the point where we could even play games together, like having them push a square scarf I held out in front of me against my body no matter which direction I faced.

It's a handy relationship to have on hot days as well. I also never feel lonely, since the wind spirits are always there!

I wanted to draw something flowy with my air witch, because it's been forever since I last did a full illustration of her. Astrid never really felt like she belongs to the air circle. One of the reasons is her fear of heights, for which she got teased by the other witches a lot, because she couldn't manage a simple flying spell. When she grew up she always wished to control fire or water magic instead. But she learns to use her magic in her own way and later also accepts herself for who she is.

Now here's the third of the main magnolians I had introduced in my first written story, Ezor, the tallest of those smallest ones.

This one is rather chill, friendly, a little energetic, playful and overall intelligent and sometimes curious. Known as the smartest of his bunch, as well as the only gadgeteer amidst them, he tends to do a lot of researches about anything their kind is not familiar with, especially from humans, including those from other dimensions, with the modern or far advanced technology in some of those. With the knowledge, he managed to craft his own pair of glasses to improve his bad eyesight that he was born with, however, what he has on his neck, to replace the scarf he lost in the raid I explained in my previous post, is not an invention of his own, but one given by Emily's boyfriend called Newton (who I'm yet to introduce here), the Forage Master 3000, a device made for detecting food in the environment, as well as detecting caves, and entities, while also including a GPS. Although he is mainly known for being smart and having a talent with building gadgets, he is also talented with tailoring, playing flute and also painting. In combat, he is no pushover, as he is able to use his wind amulet to fly and cast spells of said element, giving him an advantage while also having some fighting skills.

Ice: The charm powers up Merida/your bow and sword with ice magic, it can bring extra damage to fire monsters, it can even use its magic to freeze and cool objects. You find it on a shrine in a land frozen in ice.
