ARC/BRD Skills Overview Part 1
Some similarities, and a big difference is in the usage of arrows as well as the fact Archer has combos, which isn't really a thing in modern FFXIV.
In possibly one of the biggest change in mechanics between 1.0 and 2.0, Archers were responsible for their ammo! Your light shot was essentially the equivalent of an "auto attack" (although it wasn't an auto attack, as far as I know - no other auto attacks are added to your hotbar, although we'll see some exceptions that might've been cut out later). The refill act would refill a special slot in your equipment with arrows in your inventory.
If you were out of arrows, sorry, you can't do your basic attack.

Your basic skill in ARR is still here too.
This is kind of a unique skill, you use MP to evade one non-melee attack. I can see this being useful in even modern FFXIV, similar to Samurai's "Third Eye" (although that's not an evade.)
This is a Ranger skill in XI. It did not make it in ARR, and I'm not sure if it shares the trait in XI where it ignores defense.
This *did* make it into ARR, but was cut in Stormblood. (Side note: It's annoying to research because they recently added an item called "Hawk's Eye".)
This essentially turned into the role skill Leg Graze, which also inflicts Heavy. Leg Graze was added in Heavensward, as a Machinist action.
This skill made it into ARR, and with ARR & HW's meta, it was important to level ARC for Raging Strikes, although in 2.0 it was simply a increase damage dealt skill, and not dependent on Light Shot (which wasn't in ARR)
This was in ARR but removed in SB and removed for the Foot Graze role action which also binds the target. Foot Graze was added in HW as a MCH action.
This was in ARR as essentially the same skill - reduces emnity generation (with no interaction with Raging Strike). In Stormblood, this turned into the enmity reducing role action of "Diversion".
It's a song! And it's an Archer song! And it made it into ARR, and eventually turned into the role skill "Peloton".
A bit of a unique - ARC in FFXIV 1.0 really shows its support strengths with the ability to give these ailments to various enemies.
Made it to ARR and still used today, albeit differently. Now it triples the number of strikes for any single-target weaponskill, not just Light Shot/auto attack.
Probably one of my favorite skills, and relatively untouched, albeit you can't hit a single target five times at once.
Still in FFXIV as of EW as a ogcd attack (with a recast lower than 80 seconds), and it *doesnt* hit a bleed attack, even back in ARR - the DoTs were moved to Venomous Bite/Windbite.
This was made into ARR but it was removed in SB. The differences between Wide Volley and Quicknock is Wide Volley is a target + enemies, while Quicknock is a cone AoE starting at the player.

“E-eh?” Going through the Dzmael Darkhold was never pleasant, but at least Tsubasa and her party made it through. Well, mostly. As she turned around to see Batraal fall, she noticed something peculiar. The rest of her party was unconscious! Tsubasa blinked, putting away her bow. How did she end up as the only one conscious? Did they all pass out at the last minute as Batraal succumbed to a combination of her poisoned arrows and Windbite? It was perplexing, but her party members would be fine. Hopefully.

I’m SO used to my rotation now that when I do leveling roulettes and they throw me into an early dungeon or trial I’m like “shit i don’t have windbite yet. shit i don’t have mage’s ballad yet. shit i don’t have battle voice yet”.

1. Dogs or Cats?
I have a great passion for all animals but i get overwhelmed so easily by energy and noise that as a pet i greatly prefer cats. Of course they aren’t always quiet or calm but when it comes to dogs, the jumping and barking are a lot for me to process.
2. YouTube celebrities or normal celebrities?
I think both are kind of overrated but i feel that maybe youtube celebrities would be more approachable?
3. If you could live anywhere where would that be?
Probably Sweden or Ireland. I’m fascinated by the history and folklore behind both countries that i’m sure i could spend years learning there in the country and enjoying the beautiful landscapes.
4. Disney or DreamWorks?
Disney 100% I know that they’ve become kind of a capitalist figure but i can’t deny my childhood heart that’s always wholeheartedly enjoyed the movies and shows. The movies were a big part of my childhood and one of the ways i spent time with my grandpa who has now passed.
5. Favourite childhood TV show?
Avatar the last Airbender and Danny Phantom.
6. The movie you’re looking forward to most in 2020?
Sonic the movie and Artemis fowl

The Ultimate Weapon - Bringer of Light

The twisted ruins of the Praetorium groaned as the lingering heat of the disastrous Ultima spell warped its steel. Pools of swirling darkness opened up under Granye’s feet, forcing her to keep moving, keep running and leaping before the black tendrils leeched her of her strength.
She made note to apologise to Thancred later for the Windbites and Venomous Bites. It hadn’t taken long for her to realise that Lahabrea was indeed planning to kill her good and proper, and she had acted accordingly, taken steps to weaken his hold on Thancred without outright killing the Scion himself.
A bolt of darkness caught her in the shoulder and sent her tumbling back over the steel floor. She rolled to a stop before the surrounding flames could touch her, but she was not spared their heat. Her lungs heaved as she pushed herself up at stared at Lahabrea from behind tangled hair.
Such a horribly twisted look of delight on that borrowed face…
Granye grunted, looking down as the floor under her opened into a yawning pool of darkness.
“Finally, Bringer of Light, your flame shall be extinguished! No longer will I endure your asinine antics!” Lahabrea crowed.
“Tell me one thing, Lahabrea.” she panted, the shadows swarming over her hands and legs, raking at the light of her very soul. “When…did you take control o’ Thancred? When exactly?”
He laughed. “Oh, as soon as he started poking his nose where it did not belong.”
“So…It wasnae you at ifrit.”
“No.” Lahabrea answered, narrowing his eyes as he watched her.
“It wasnae you who put the legwork in at Drybone with me.”
Granye pulled against the darkness weighing down her limbs, struggling, grit her teeth as she fought to bring one leg up under herself.
“It wasnae you who expressed regret, an’ remorse fer puttin’ me in ‘arm’s way!” she shouted, pulling against the murk, sacrificing her bow to it and straining to wrench herself free.
“What are you-?”
Granye screamed, ripping her arms from the pool, staggering to her feet. Her chest heaved, legs trembled as the darkness continued to sap the life from her.
“Then I think-!” She growled as she dragged herself forward, one step at a time until she hauled herself clear of the black circle entirely. Granye cried out in relief, staggering to one knee, gasping.
He stared, slack-jawed as she lifted her gaze to him once more.
“Then I think Thancred an’ I will get along just fine.”
Lahabrea leaned back. Her eyes, crimson and gold, burned with such ferocity he felt their stare upon his own soul.
“What do you expect to do in your state!? Weaponless, exhausted!” he thundered.
Granye laughed breathily, standing tall.
“Fer a long time…I wondered what the difference ‘tween yer folk an’ mine was. I wondered why ye were known t’cause trouble across ages.” She shook her head. “But I see it now. Yer like the Imperials. Ye see us as dogs an’ nothin’ else. I’ve half a mind to ask ye why again, but…” Granye shrugged. “Well, if I ken one thing about you, Lahabrea, i’s that ye dinnae like to talk with folk. Ye just do it t’hear yer own voice.”
The puddle of shadow exploded behind her, dark lightning crackling skyward. Her yew bow splintered and shattered audibly, shards of wood hurtling past her.
For once, Lahabrea felt uncertain. Many a mortal had stood in defiance of him and his brethren, but none had had quite the effect as she did. None had a stare he could feel scrape on his very being in such an unsettling and intrusive manner.
He curled his lip, seething. “Come then, Bringer of Light! Show me! What will you do without steel to sharpen your pitiful blows!?”
Her lips quirked into a grin.
“I’m thinkin’ I’ll live up to that wee title ye keep spoutin’, darlin’.”
Granye took a step forward slowly, and then another, and another, not once breaking stride toward him. Lahabrea channelled a Shadow Flare, the spell bursting from his fingertips in an angry dark pulse of darkness, lightning and fire.
It hit Granye like wind off a bluff; enough to make her unsteady, but not to stop her.
He gathered shadows to his hand and blasted them at her. Granye took the hit, covering her face with her arms as the darkness washed over her. Even when Lahabrea blasted her with two at once, she staggered under the blow, but paused only long enough to get her bearings again. She could take this. She could withstand his attacks.
“Is your brilliant strategy to defeat me to walk at me?” he laughed.
She grinned at him brightly, lowering her arms. “No darlin’! The strategy’s to run at ye.”
Lahabrea blanched.
Granye bolted.
The collision was a fantastic tangle of limbs as Granye tackled him to the ground, hooking her arm around his waist and dragging him out of his floating spot in the middle of the platform with a howl of disdain – and perhaps minor pain – from the Ascian.
Granye had her bearings first and rolled him under her, holding him down by weighing down his abdomen with hers, pinning one darkness-swathed hand to the ground by his head before he could blast her face with shadows – or scratch her eyes out with his dangerously long talons.
Lahabrea struggled and thrashed against the weight pinning him. When he took stock of the situation, though, he froze. She was touching him! It was irrational how he froze and locked up under her stare, in her grasp. His free hand, swirling with dark magic, stopped inches from her face.
“Wha’s a matter, Lahabrea?” she breathed, just enough of a smirk on her lips to show her canine. “I thought ye said ye’d wring me neck.”
He couldn’t focus, could hardly think.
For a moment light blinded him. Only a moment, and yet, when he found himself able to see again, he stood apart from the Bringer of Light, both of them floating in the vast empty of the Aetherial Realm.
What little relief he felt at their far more comfortable distance was destroyed entirely by the bright sigil that bloomed under her feet. He didn’t need to see the multi-coloured pillars of aether burst high around her to know what was to come.
He lunged to reach her, to end her first.
Pure light gathered in her hands, forming into the comfortable shape of a bow, and she drew it just as easily.

A quick guide for Baelsar’s Wall. I know it’s not new content anymore but I see some people are still struggling with it, so hopefully this will make life easier!
First and foremost, the Sky Armor ALWAYS has priority. They will ignore threat and target a random member of the party, and cannot be provoked away. They need to die first. Second to die are the archers (or Sagittarius). They will randomly afflict targets with Venom and Windbite, and in big pulls, this can cause the group to get overwhelmed VERY quickly. All other trash, treat as normal.
First boss isn’t too hard. It will summon Sky Armor trash that needs to be dealt with, as well as AoE damage.
Second trash, nothing special, just don’t stand in AoEs.
Second boss has a move called Motion Tracking, which inflicts a debuff. THE FOLLOWING IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.
DON’T. MOVE.
DON’T CAST. DON’T EVEN AUTO ATTACK. JUST WAIT FOR THE DEBUFF TO FALL OFF. NOT EVEN HEALING SPELLS. OTHERWISE IT WILL TOSS YOU AND OTHER PARTY MEMBERS IN THE AIR AND STUN YOU.
THIS INCLUDES SEEING THE AOE ON THE GROUND. DON’T PANIC. WAIT FOR THE DEBUFF TO FALL OFF, YOU WILL HAVE TIME TO MOVE OUT OF THE AOE AFTER.
Alright.
Next up is the trash with a Reaper and a big Armor. TARGET THE ARMOR FIRST, it has really annoying AoEs. Then the Reaper for the same reason. The rest is standard trash.
LAST BOSS.
WATCH OUT FOR FLASH POWDER.
What I like to do is focus target the boss so I can see his cast bar, because even though Flash Powder has the eye thing on him telling you to look away, it’s kind of small and easy to miss.
He’ll drop a bunch of swords in the arena, and honestly we typically default to destroying the one in the middle to make a safe spot.
Alrighty that’s it! Now to farm my aiming gear that refuses to drop!
