Caravaggio (1571-1610)
"Bacchus" (c. 1596)
Oil on canvas
Baroque
Located in the Uffizi, Florence, Italy
The model for "Bacchus" might have actually been Caravaggio's pupil and lover, Mario Minniti (1577-1640), whom he had also used as a model in "The Musicians," "Boy with a Basket of Fruit," "The Fortune Teller," "Lute Player," and "The Calling of Saint Matthew."

Roxie “I can’t remember the last time someone outside the art world asked me genuine questions about my art”: So I used a series of paper cuttings along with collage work underneath to create an optical illusion where you see two of the central woman figure at once. I was playing with a lot more geometric patterns than I have before and I just…don’t know if I got the shape language down the way I wanted but I think it’s got a really strong silhouette. Ya like it?
Ken “All my robot designs must be so shape all the time or I’ll die” Katayanagi: Yeah.
