Para mí un vino realmente gastronómico, este 🇭🇺 Tokaji Oremus Mandolas 2018 [ @temposvegasicilia ]es tan rico en matices que ofrece una amplia posibilidad de maridajes. 🍇 100% Furmint con 6 meses en barrica, con una peculiaridad: al contrario de la gran mayoría de los vinos húngaros elaborados con este tipo de uva, este es seco. Los años le han sentado francamente bien; en nariz, destaca la fruta fresca, los postres y los ahumados. En boca, se muestra elegante, untuoso y con una magnífica acidez. Alternative and colorful wine review… …………………………………………………… “There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.” Vladimir Ilyich Lenin .………………………………………………… This damsel wine was in no distress…she had a dark rose blush in the glass... but not shy at all. Right off the first pour, an attractive damson scent filled the glass. And I don’t mean a sweet plum, but one with a sharp edge. My fellow tasters noted too some licorice and a citrus ping with a lingering pink rose petal nose. And sipping, she was all damson again, tart, tense fruit. And the damson evolved into pomegranate with some eucalyptus and gooseberry with some tart blackberry and fig leaf astringency. It felt like there must’ve been some cedar wood shavings, soaked in the bottle and I feel like my wine glass had been crafted from mountain stream pebbles with that crisp, stony kind of mouth feel. She was biting, but still smooth enough in her finish. The fig leaf flavor stayed put. I kept coming back to the glass, sipping, like getting pecked on the cheek multiple times, doing my best to really figure out her flavor profile. With a harrumph I exhaled and blew the fig leaf away and all was revealed. Giovanni Benvenuto (@cantinebenvenuto ) durante la mia visita (👉 articolo in bio) mi aveva parlato del suo Orange e della sperimentazione ma forse, per il suo mite temperamento, non mi aveva detto quanto fosse fantastico. Ho voluto non solo provare questo vino, prodotto attraverso la lenta (40 giorni) macerazione delle uve Zibibbo, ma metterlo proprio in difficoltà con abbinamenti azzardati e degni di un rosso. Anzitutto il colore tra il rosa antico e l’arancio. Bello e vivo. Quasi luminoso. Poi gli odori che sono di pesca, mango, alloro, mentuccia, iodio. Bel bouquet che mi ricorda il mare e la campagna. In bocca infine è piacevolmente secco, fresco, caldo mantenendo la sapidità dello Zibibbo. Persistente davvero, chiusura di bocca precisa e finale lievemente mandorlato di grande eleganza. Si sente lo zibibbo specialmente se il vino non è particolarmente freddo cosa questa che allevia di molto anche il finale mandorlato. Abbinamento. 1. parmigiana di melanzane 2. orecchiette cime di rapa 3. bistecca alla brace Devo dire bene, molto bene. Paradossalmente molto bene con la bistecca; bene con parmigiana ed orecchiette. Un ottimo vino da tutto pasto ad un costo di circa 15€. I’m reminded of being called in front of the high school principal, and to this day, authority figures still make my hair stand on end. But this is a benevolent matriarch, with bounty to share. She had a dark garnet ruby rim, a mature look. Her nose was a fruitful bouquet of boysenberry and anise with a leathery snap. Despite her maturity, she still had plenty of fruit to offer. Very busty. Plums and figs and blueberry. Clove and anise spiced up the mouth more subtly. The plush mid mouth feel had an oaky structure with a bit of mulch mixed in. But she felt big in your mouth…lots of complexity going on. Decades on, this matriarch wine remains supple and full bodied and bouncing. You could tell she was mature, and yet still had plenty of fruit, forward. It was the background kaleidoscope of flavors and scents that kept you mesmerized. I picture this matriarch relaxing on lake Cuomo, and I would love to take her motorboating ;-).
