The cold hit you directly on the nose, it almost felt like you could see yourself turn slightly red. And yet Chase was smiling like an idiot at you, grabbing your hand and leading to an open field close by. There were other people too, but most were kids with their parents and not grown adults like yourselves having fun. You couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle when you saw Chase reach down for a ball of snow.
“Need some help kid?” You teased at him before jumping onto his back and giving him a bear hug. There was a slight noise he made, but nonetheless seeing you happy and laughing was all he could ask for.
Chase eventually forgot about the snowball and instead suggested creating a snow angel. He covered your head with a hoodie and sat down on the soft snow, cold on his fingertips. You giggled when he visibled shivered at the touch, but so did you. The two of you made snow angels and stood up to see the results, teasing each other about the ‘mistakes’ you had made like not big enough wings or some other silly thing. When the snow day was coming to an end, most of the kids and parents had gone home, and while you were tired, there was something left to do.
Quietly, even while the snow was soft and mushy under your feet, you rolled some snow into a ball. Chase was quietly checking something on his phone and luckily you were quick enough to hit him dead center on the back. He turned around, very slowly for dramatic effect and without even blinking had scooped a snowball himself. You nearly missed his precise throw before going for cover at the playground, behind trees. He did the same, scooping one snowball after another. At times giving away your location because of each other’s snickering and teasing.
“Come on! You know I’ll win anyways~” Chase would say tauntingly, with an obvious smile in the tone of his voice. All you could do is scoff, come out of hiding and toss a snowball that likely hit your desired target. By the end of the fight, you were both soaking wet that it was surely settling into a cold, but at least the two of you would be sick together.
Chase said it was a tie, but you had obviously won by the time he was sniffling first on the field. You smiled, somewhat guilty and finally decided to go home, get cozy.
At home, there was surely someone getting sick (Chase), so some hot chocolate was made or maybe tea if preferred to warm the body. All wrapped in blankets, Chase cuddled with you while swaddled. The sweet and content sighs made for a perfect night before you set a kiss on his forehead, falling asleep to the crackling of the fire that night.
