Spirit Work Basics
You voted, I listened. I meant it. So buckle up as we go through the basics of Spirit Work.
I've touched on this on other posts but I'll make a massive post here. This is not going to explain everything and will still be pretty broad. Cause I do not have the time, the knowledge, nor patience to try and explain EVERYTHING.
But I do hope it helps.
Look under the tags advice, spirit communication, spirit work for more detail.
So hello, I'm Sol. I've been working with spirits since I realized I was speaking with them. I had the gift since I was a young child, first spirit I saw being my grandfather on my father's side shortly after he passed away. He was a pastor, supposedly, I was doing the best I could to repeat his favorite verses despite me being a small little shit. I don't remember the verses, I do remember speaking to him a lot however.
Which is where we'll begin, how to speak to spirits.
Maybe she's born with it? Maybe it's insanity~♪
Well, how do we begin with speaking with spirits? There's a number of ways, actually. Some do have the natural ability, like myself but that shouldn't discourage people who are newly trying and don't have that natural affinity for it. Spirits can and will talk to anyone if you open yourself up. Just takes a bit of work. But Sol, you may ask, how do I do that?
If you've been on witchblr for a bit you know what I'm about to say next: Yup.
Meditate.
Tumblr media
Now listen, meditation is a way to open yourself up to the spirits around you or just at least signal "hey, I'm open to talk to." It gives you a good sense of your own energy and the energy around you. Meditation doesn't have one look either. A lot of people can't just sit still and kept their legs crossed or be on their knees with their eyes closed (I see you ADHD/ADD people). Hell, my lazy ass will meditate lying down.
Literally the definition of Meditation: to engage in mental exercise (such as concentration on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness. transitive verb. : to focus one's thoughts on : reflect on or ponder over. (merriam webster)
It's pretty broad, right? Hell, you can even work out and meditate. I do it all the time. Cause I focus on my breathing and the feeling of energy through my body. Basically you can get creative with it.
While you're meditating, make sure you're feeling your own energy. This can come in a number of ways; waves, your heartbeat, a feeling of something cloaking you etc. While you have that feeling down, envision an opening, whether its a door, or just acknowledging you're reaching out to the other side. Whether or not you get an answer back, you are putting yourself out there and that's half the battle done. Just be sure to know how to close yourself and ward your body. Spirit work and opening yourself like that is no joke and I'd like you to be safe.
To do that, just envision whatever you had opened closed or recede back or whatever you used that worked for you.
Signs to Look for
Some of the more common tells of a spirit hearing and trying to communicate are of the following:
Small echos/voices in the back of your head
Random thoughts that may not be your own
Knocks or things shuffling
Strange dreams
Small phantom touches
Feelings of being watched
And Many More!
"But Sol," some of you might say, "that's really fucking vague and could just be explained away."
Yeah...welcome to spirit work. You thought this shit was easy?!
You have to work on your discernment. It is a skill needed for this type of work.
Tumblr media
Seems counterproductive, but it's not! See, if every bump and noise was reported as ghosts or spirits, well...we'd be even less believed than we already are. When doing spirit work, or ghost hunting, you are stuck with the burden of proof and it's a huge burden to have. This is why people ask for repeats of actions, to speak again in recorders and other things. We're asking for repetition, because science is prevalent, especially in spiritualism and occultism. We have to be our own skeptics so when we have something that can't be explained away, we truly have something to celebrate.
Tools on the Job
No one said you had to do this all on vibes. No shame in using tools. I'll more than likely take the time to make specific posts about each tool in the future cause this post is already really long but I'll give you a nice rundown of basic tools.
By the way anyone who tries to shame you for using tools or says "only trainee or baby witches use this or that" are tools themselves (not the good or useful kind) and should not be given the time of day. Tools are fine. Use them for help if you need it because that's what the fuck a tool is for.
Now these aren't all the tools you can use but I'll give you some well known ones. I've seen witches get real creative and it's honestly super cool watching them use strange things that you'd never think about as a witchcraft tool. But that's what makes it so fun.
Tarot cards
Tarot is something I often use. 78 cards all with different meanings. There's many many ways to interpret them and multiple themes that many of them have.
My best advice for these are to just look up the overall meanings both upright and reversed just to have a general consensus of each card. Play around with them a lot, and interpret them the way you would as if you were making a story with them. You can also use them for spirit communication.
Calling forth a spirit allowing them to touch the deck (just leave it for a moment and allow them to influence the deck as it were before doing the spread). Holds a lot of power in your hands but is a little slow.
Pendulum
A pendulum is usually a crystal tied to a string or a chain that can be swung over a board of either yes or no or maybe for its options. Sometimes there is a mock ouija for the pendulum to spell out things as well.
Cool thing about a pendulum is it can be anything that swings if you wish. Some people I've seen take off their necklace and use it as a pendulum just fine. Just have a singular point and you can get to work anywhere with it. Please make sure to ward yourself from invading or malevolent spirits when you do this though.
Lots of pendulum or spirit boards exist and have different templates as well.
This is more of a call and response type of device to use. Especially when you feel a spirit present Still has a fair bit of control in your hands.
Ouija board
The infamous kids game works around the same way a pendulum does, except there is a planchette that slides over the board. This is a call and response based tool much like a pendulum. However, it is a little easier for the ghost to manipulate and control. Which is where all the stupid stories of ghosts completely taking over and fucking up shit takes place. Also, half of the biggest problems are just humans being humans which means victims of groupthink. So... stupidity. Someone freaked so you all freak...the energy gets bad and shit happens. Do your best to remain calm and just work through it.
Also no. ZOZO XOX 2O2O etc does not want your ass. Many spirits claim that shit to get a rise out of you anyway. Guys...no, I swear it does not happen. This is main character energy that none of us have...or want! Even if a demonic entity came in to fuck with you, there are plenty of other ways to do it. Be fucking for real.
Please remain kind and courteous to who you contact. Do not let your paranoia about this tool make you do stupid things. Always say goodbye when you are finished. Try and stay as calm as you can.
Never. Ever leave the planchette on the board unattended. Lest you get an unwanted guest or one that'll overstay their welcome.
Crystal Ball
Crystal Balls are a good way to detect energies. This is normally used in a private setting cause it desires a lot of concentration. Now, I'm admittedly not that knowledgeable in this because I don't use my crystal ball often.
Also, your crystal ball doesn't have to be clear. Mine is obsidian and I love her.
When having your question, focus on it and concentrate. Make sure it is open ended. I mean you can have yes or no, but it's gonna be a bitch to decipher a yes or no answer.
Close your eyes and let the answers come to you in the forms of images and colors and such, examine all you can as just let your intuition work.
Sounds simple but its a rather interesting art form to work on. Symbols and such can confuse you and it's heavy on your interpretation. I'm sure there's books and stuff out there for a general view of this symbol you see might mean this or that but...largely, this is a true test of how you read your intuition.
I'd do it more, if I wasn't closeted and lived with nosy closed-minded people.
C'est la vie.
One important thing though...don't leave your ball uncovered. Especially if it's clear. That's how you end up with burned shit. Those bitches are like mega magnifying glasses. And it happens faster than you think. Science is scary.
Mirror/Water Scrying
Mirror and water scrying is kind of the same as a crystal ball except it's a quicker and often less expensive way to work on your divination.
Some people have a specific mirror that they black out and scry that way. Others have a scrying bowl made for divination alone. It's just as good. You can use any bowl or mirror however. Just be sure to cleanse the area before you start and after you're done.
Some thank the water used for divination before putting it down the sink or in the earth. But that's more of an individual's choice/belief/faith than anything else.
Lots of occultism and spiritualism has a thing with mirrors being portals, openings, etc to the otherside and can bring some unwanted visitors.
And as someone who now sleeps with their mirror facing the wall now, I will say I believe a lot of what people say on that.
I want a goodnights sleep damnit.
Just be sure to cleanse your tools after use. Better safe than sorry.
ETC.
There's a lot of creative ways people can use these tools and magic. So don't think of magic as a recipe for how to be a witch or do witchcraft. That's half the fun of witchcraft.
Discovery.
Finding ways to do things, to hear, to see, to communicate. Yes there are certain tools that work better than others but, we as individual people also work in different ways.
There's a psychic out there who reads asparagus like bones. There's someone who will scry with a puddle on the ground they found. People have their own methods and ways to work their magic and we should learn from them. So if you have some non normal tactic or even something unsual, embrace it to the fullest.
I divine with music. If you ask me it's Apollo's influence. My spirits communicate with music.
When I meet people and get a good vibe on them a song comes to mind, and even if I forget your face, your voice, who you are, that song will remind me what I think of you. Songs pop up in my head when people associated with it are close.
I'm not going to say I'm the only one in the world who does this, cause that would be some bs. But its my tactic and its natural.
Do what is natural for you and not what other witches say you should do.
Even me, I beg you not to try and emulate or follow my advice down to a T if it doesn't work for you. Don't force it to work.
I am just one person, one voice spouting some advice. Take what you can from it, take what helps and work your own path. And then in turn do the same. I'm a path offering person not a director. But that's...just...me...
"But Sol, how do I speak to spirits?"
Talk.
Tumblr media
Yeah, that simple. Talk.
This can be in a lot of forms. Some write and burn letters to ancestors, or past family members. Set up a placement for talking to them. Admittedly, a lot of spirit work and communication is experimental. We just warn you over some things because they've happened enough for us as a collective to go ah, a pattern.
I have urns at home so it's pretty easy to say hello in that case.
I am NOT telling you to go into a graveyard and just go wussap. No. Some spirits don't want your tomfuckery. Also if they're feeling really chatty all at once you might get overwhelmed and you will not have a good time. Read the dead room.
Open yourself up. WARD YOURSELF FIRST! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS. But yeah open yourself up. Learn how to open your pathways and close them first. That comes with meditating. Yes, this is why damn near all of us nag the shit out of y'all about meditating.
Just talk and listen. It won't happen immediately. It takes time and a careful ear. Remember signs to look for. You might spot them before you hear them. Small instances of shadows out the corner of your eye. A touch from nowhere, a shiver down your spine. Other things going off or being moved, etc. Slowly, someone or something will receive your message and try to respond in kind.
When you get these small responses, just keep calm and say hello or acknowledge what they've done.
"Oh, someone's here"
"Hello there"
"Are you still here?"
It'll be awkward (try to remember where you are, don't be a weirdo in public), but overtime you'll get better at it.
Conclusion!
Like any skill, spirit communication takes practice.
There are a vast plethora of ways to communicate with tools that I haven't mentioned as well, like automatic writing which is a pretty good beginner way to jump in.
Just have a pen/pencil on paper, write what comes to mind. Its a good way to practice hearing and catching signs as well.
And something I will never stop saying is you don't have to take this journey alone! Especially if you don't want to. Find someone experienced to start this journey with. Someone who calms you, who can support you. Support and asking for help is good. Last thing any of us want is for you to get hurt or scared out of doing this if this is something you really want to do. So call us, talk to us. Confide in more experienced people.
So many times on this site and other places, we are begging to form this beautiful network so we can help one another, give advice, hang out etc.
We are right here, just reach out for us. You'll get a hand back in kind.

Candle Magic Beyond Colors
Tumblr media
A lot of people talk about color correspondences with candles, but a candle's potential in magic runs way deeper than that! Here's a list of things I don't see people mention as much:
Loading a Candle
Carve out a small hole in the bottom of the candle and stuff it with herbs, a name, whatever else you want to "fill" the candle with.
Carvings
Etch sigils, symbols, names, and other things into the candle before burning! (I like the idea of writing my problems/worries onto the candle then watching as they burn and melt away.)
Dressing a Candle
Much like loading a candle, mix your herbs in an oil or have a pre-made magical oil ready to cover your candle in before lighting.
Reversals
Chop off the top of the candle, flip it upside down, and carve a new wick out of the bottom (now top.) This is a good way to inverse its symbolism!
Shape of Candle/Container
Not all candles are little cylenders. Candles shaped like pyramids, spheres, hearts, skulls, or animals can all have those correspondences taken into account as well.
Life of the Flame
Some candles are meant to only burn for a short period of time then be blown out. (Like birthday candles.) Others are meant to burn continuously over multiple days (like yahrzeit candles or seven-day candles.) Others can be lit or extinguished as you please. Which one makes the most sense for your goals?
Burning or Beacon?
A candle flame is a light in the darkness, drawing things near. It's also literal fire which can burn away whatever it touches. Which one is your candle trying to do, burn out something undesired or serve as a beacon for what you DO desire? Plan accordingly.
Read the Wax
Always a classic, you can read the shapes made from the wax once the spell is complete to get a gage of how things went/are going. Followup information is always good and can tell you a lot!!

Only YOU Can Prevent Witchy Fires
Hello witches, workers, and all in between! Your friendly neighborhood Granny is here to teach you a few things about fire safety!
Yes, yes, I know. “But Buggy, this is tumblr! And you're on a boring witchcraft blog! What do we need a lesson on fire safety for? We aren’t in kindergarten!” But trust me! More than one witch has accidentally singed their hair or set their own altar on fire before! Sometimes we get so into the spiritual that we forget to be mindful of the reality around us.
I’m going to go over a bundle of good tips to keep in mind for making a wax seal over that spell jar or burning a few bay leaves or ingredients to release that nonsense into the air! Even a section for the kitchen witches!
Indoor Safety:
*Those annoying fire alarms? Make sure they are operational okay? Change those batteries at least once a year, preferably twice. (If it is something you are in control of.)
*Always use a fire-safe candle holder for candles! Trim down that wick before lighting! I know it seems silly to use a pair of scissors or a wick trimmer, but trimming down that wick will always make that flame much easier to manage. And that flame? If it gets big enough to cause black smoke ALWAYS put it out.
*Always keep the candle in your line of sight, no meditation with an open flame going okay? Also if your candle is big enough to burn for more than four hours...put it out at the 4 hour mark.
*The longer a candle burns the more carbon gathers on the wick itself and that can make the flame get bigger and more unstable. Those ultra-wobbly flames that flicker and waves like one of those wacky inflatable arm flailing tube men? That is something you don’t want.
*Putting out a candle: We don’t recommend putting it out with your fingers no matter how cool it looks. Use a candle snuffer, or blow it out. I promise blowing out a deity candle won’t insult them!
*Another crucial tip is to keep anything that could catch fire a minimum of three feet or 91 centimeters AWAY from the fire source. That includes carpeted flooring, cloth, hair, rugs, altar cloths, papers, books, all sorts of things! Always wear your hair back when working with fire, and wear close fitting clothing that won’t hang or drape into the fire with your movements.
*Another tip given straight from the NSC is to NEVER use candles or other fire sources while tired or inebriated! That means no 2 am spell jars if you are half asleep! ALSO never EVER leave a candle WARM or actively BURNING! Same goes for any items you are burning down like bay leaves. Burn them in a fire safe bowl that is much bigger than you think you need. Toss the debris around and soak in water to ensure they are safely doused.
*IF you are using wax to seal off spell jars I highly suggest getting a wax sealing kit! Wax sealing kits come with a little spoon that you drop bits of wax into and ‘melt’ them down over something like a tea candle. An example is this: Which you can find on Amazon for roughly $10 USD!
Tumblr media
The spoon is perfect for pouring and there’s less likelihood of the candle you would sit on top of the jar from falling off because...there is no candle! If you only have a candle to work with...please don’t burn the candle on top of the object you are sealing, put the candle in a safe holder and hold it over the object once warm to let the wax drip down. Have the object you are sealing sitting on top of a safe ceramic plate or bowl in case of drippage!
But what do I do if a fire starts?
Good question! That depends on the type of fire it is! Here’s a breakdown of the types and methods to put them out: Ordinary Fire: An ordinary fire is caused by candles, papers, cloth, plastics, that sort of thing!
The good news is these types of fires respond amazingly well to plain old water! It’s always advised that you keep a bucket or pitcher full of water within reach whenever using candles just in case!
Electric Fire: Electric fires are caused by a source of electricity, like wires getting crossed and arching.
NEVER use water on an electrical fire! If you do, you'll just electrocute yourself. If it’s safe to do so...unplug the object from the outlet. Turn off the electricity in your house’s electric breaker box. Smother the flames by pouring baking soda onto them.
Chemical Fire: Chemical fires have a chemical as a fuel source, like rubbing alcohol, nail polish & polish remover. Even your nails near a candle can produce a small chemical fire if you aren’t careful! (Dry those nails up good before using candles.) These fires can only be put out with a fire blanket OR pouring a LARGE quantity of baking soda or sand onto the fire.
Cooking Fires: Cooking fires are the most common form of household fire. It can be caused by grease, burning food, or burning cooking oil. Water will NOT work on any fire oil or grease based, it may seem like a first instinct to grab the pan and toss it into a sink with water...DON’T.
That will cause the oil to splatter and can injure you and make any flames spread further! It the fire is small enough and contained within a pot or skillet, have a lid or baking sheet handy and throw that onto the top of the fire, this will smother it out. A fire blanket can also be used for this. Do NOT swat at the flames, this is just a fanning motion and will give the fire more oxygen to grow with! Pour a large amount of salt or baking soda on top of the fire. MAKE SURE it is not flour, as flour will cause the fire to grow quick enough to even explode! Turn off any heat source.
And if the fire is in the oven or microwave? Leave that door CLOSED. It seems super scary but the fire will smother itself out when trapped in a small box. (Of which both cooking items are.)
Outdoor Safety:
Never burn outdoors if it is windy or extra dry! Do not burn general trash, only burn natural dry vegetation/herbs. Always check your local ordinances and make sure there are no burn bans in your area currently active!
If you are going to burn outside, clear away a circular space for the burning items. Far enough away from overgrowth, houses, powerlines, and other such things. The burning site should have plenty of dirt or gravel around it, usually around 10 feet, 304 centimeters circular if burning a campfire-size burning space. Make sure the dirt and gravel is well doused in water to prevent any spreading.
Always stay around the fire until it is completely out. Turn the debris from your burn a few times and douse it hard with water. NEVER leave dry ash on the ground, embers could be still warm enough to catch on the inside of the ash! Keep checking on that burn area for a few days or a few weeks to make sure nothing is left, especially during warmer or dryer months. Don’t toss matches or other lighting instruments just anywhere! Those can still be warm and still catch grass alight.
And there you have it! A crash course on being safe with fire while doing your thing and slinging your spells!

Now I've been going through my old grimoire and so far, I've got
Tips to know before practising witchcraft
Elemental Witchcraft: Water Magick
Shielding, centering, and grounding
Sigils
A spell
A few diary entries
Shells (a list)
Cleansing a space
Colour Magick
The Pentacle / Pentagram
Imbolc (notes from a podcast)
Rituals
Study spells
The Moon: some facts
Moon Magick
Auras
Meditation
Intention and vision boards
Méditations based on the Moon phases
Magickal self-care
Dream Journalling
The books I've read so far are:
Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials: Mabon, Yule, Imbolc, and Ostara
Water Magic by Lilith Dorsey
Air Magic by Astrea Taylor
Fire Magic by Josephine Winter
Earth Magic by Dodie Graham Mckay
Moon Magic by Diane Ahlquist
Moon Spells by Diane Ahlquist (NOTE: I'm not quite sure if Diane Ahlquist identifies with witchcraft, so I wouldn't base my entire practice of Moon magick from her books)
Pastel Spells by Orriculum Rose
The Modern Witch's Guide to Magickal Self-Care by Tenae Stewart
The Witch's Book of Self-Care by Anne Murphy-Hiscock
I HIGHLY recommend starting out with the books on self-care for beginner witches, even though there aren't any rules about where you start learning. This is only because it's easy to get burned out or feel overwhelmed by the lack of rules, and we all need reminders to slow down and take care of ourselves nowadays. Tenae Stewart's book tells us to find out for ourselves, while Anne Murphy-Hiscock's book has plenty of ideas and tips for beginners.
The Witch of Wonderlust channel on YouTube has also been incredibly helpful, and I also listened to some episodes of thecomfycozywitch podcast.

Combining the Elements: Water
Elemental magic sometimes requires us to marry two elements into one to get our desired results, which can be a bit baffling at times. This short guide is to help with some suggestions of elemental combinations you can use to combine the power of two, sometimes opposite, elemental energies into harmony. There are likely many other combinations, these are just some of my personal suggestions - but other combos exist!
Tumblr media
Water and Fire: steam, vapor
Water and Earth: clay, mud, roots, wood
Water and Air: bubbles, fog, clouds, storms
Water and Light: rainbows/colors, mist, reflections
Water and Shadow: ink, paint
Water and Sound: water drops, rain, rain sticks, waves
Water and Frost: ice, snow
Water and Moon: moon water, dew droplets
Water and Sun: foliage/flowers, fruit

How I Celebrate the Wheel of The Year
As you may know, the Sabbat names such as “Samhain”, “Imbolc”, and so on are appropriated from Irish Paganism. As a Hellenic Pagan, I don’t feel comfortable using these widely used names as I have no association with Irish Paganism and have absolutely no intention of further appropriating their culture. Instead - I’ll explain how I personally celebrate the Wheel of the Year in my craft based on my own beliefs.
The Festival of New Beginnings
Formerly known as “Samhain”, the Festival of New Beginnings is celebrated on October 31st and is the Witches' New Year. It is a celebration of new beginnings, where accessing magick is at its peak. It is a time of change, as the wheel of the year is once again repeating itself. It is also a time of communication between the living and the dead, as the veil between the physical and astral realm is the thinnest, therefore making this festival a perfect time to communicate and honour your deceased ancestors, or communicate with any spirit on the higher realm.
Note that this is not an actual "new year". The wheel of the year and the sabbats is cyclical, meaning the sabbats occur in cyclical patterns and not in linear "years". This festival is not a definite start/end point of the wheel of the year. It is a hypothetical "new year" as it is a celebration of new beginnings, which is commonly celebrated as “New Year’s Resolutions”
Colours: Black, gold, orange, purple, silver, white.
Deities: Hecate, Hades.
Decorations: Pomegranates, apples, pumpkins, gourds, autumn leaves, acorns, nuts, berries, fall herbs, and any other harvested items as they correspond to the current Fall season and their energy will therefore be higher, pictures of deceased loved ones, black candles and besoms for protection when communing with the dead.
Animals: Bat, black cat, owl, raven.
Crystals: Aquamarine, bloodstone, carnelian, jet, obsidian, onyx, smoky quartz.
Plants: Allspice, broom, nightshade, mandrake, mint, nutmeg, rosemary, sage, thistle, wormwood.
Any other correspondents that represent communication, protection, and high energy may be used.
How To Celebrate:
- Tell stories of deceased loved ones.
- Burn pine, myrrh, or cinnamon incense.
- Use symbols of death like scythes or bones, where death symbolizes change.
- Set goals for the coming cycle.
- Manifest! Attract new desires to your life to create your new beginnings.
Winter Solstice
The Winter Solstice is celebrated from December 21st to January 1st. It is a time to embrace new beginnings as nature dies, only to renew next season and start fresh. The winter season is very different than the seasons previous. It is also a time of peace and love, and to rest. It is a time to give back to nature to show your love and gratitude for the past growth of nature, as nature dies for the Winter season. Gifts can also be given to friends and family at this time to show your gratitude for them. It is a good time to honour Persephone for the cycle of the seasons.
It can be difficult to say that Winter is a beautiful season, as it is a time of depression for Demeter, but it is important to acknowledge that the winter festivities such as ice skating would not be possible without the Winter season. There is beauty and joy even in darkness. Acknowledging and appreciating all of the joys of Winter helps Demeter grieve.
You can also honour Gaia, and her abilities to produce such beautiful snow and ice.
You should reflect on how Demeter, Persephone, and Gaia's powers differ, and why they are all honoured at this time. Demeter is responsible for the growth and care of crops. The time at which she is grieving and does not tend to crops is known as the Winter season. Because Demeter is grieving the loss of her daughter Persephone when the winter season is created, Persephone is attributed to the cycle of the seasons. Gaia is responsible for creating the snow that falls while Demeter grieves, while not responsible for the cycling seasons herself.
Colours: Red, green, white, silver, blue, gold.
Deities: Mother Gaia, Pandora, Apollo, Cronos, Helios.
Decorations: Evergreen, pine cones, wreathes, mistletoe, holly, berries, bells, candles, elves, lights.
Animals: Bear, boar, deer, eagle, owl, robin, squirrel, snowgoose, snow tiger, wren.
Crystals: Bloodstone, clear quartz, diamond, emerald, garnet, ruby.
Plants: Thistle, chamomile, ivy, mistletoe, peppermint, rosemary, sage.
Any other correspondents relating to Winter, gratitude for nature and others, and embracing darkness can be used.
How to Celebrate
- Light a cedar, cinnamon, clove, frankincense, juniper, myrrh, peppermint, or pine incense.
- Make birdseed ornaments.
- Leave gifts of pinecones underneath trees outside to give back to nature.
- Make and hang wreaths of mistletoe for protection.
- Gift turtle doves ornaments to someone you wish to strengthen your bond with.
Festival of Light
The Festival of Light is celebrated on February 1st and is a time to celebrate fertility and rejuvenating energy. The festival of light originates from Imbolc, which means "in the belly", meaning that Spring is in the belly of Mother Earth, soon to be born. The festival of light has an emphasis on the coming of light after a dark winter, and is a time to appreciate winter while looking ahead for signs of spring.
Colours: Brown, green, and pink for the coming spring, white and blue for snow, and yellow for light and rejuvenating energy.
Deities: Aphrodite, Demeter, Eros, Hera, Hestia, Mother Gaia, Pan, Persephone, Prometheus.
Decorations: Candles, incense, seeds, nuts, water, herbal tea, snow, flowers.
Animals: Bear, deer, groundhog, lamb, phoenix, sheep.
Crystals: Amethyst, bloodstone, garnet, onyx, ruby, turquoise.

- Gather snow. Appreciate it before it’s gone for another cycle.
- Burn white candles for cleansing and purity.
Spring Equinox
The Spring Equinox is celebrated on March 19th to the 22nd, where day and night are equally as long. Because of this, the spring equinox celebrates with a strong emphasis on balance, such as life and death, or dark and light. It is also a time of fertility and equality. It is a good time to honour Persephone for the cycle of the seasons.

- Collect Spring flowers.
- Burn green, pastel, or white candles.
- Burn a pair of black and white candles to symbolize balance.

- Begin to cultivate seeds indoors, in preparation for planting outside.

Any other correspondences that relate to fertility, love, life, and joy may be used.
How to Celebrate
- Go for a nature walk.
- Have a bonfire and dance around its flames; rejoice.
- Make a bouquet.
- Go for a picnic.
- Do colourful makeup.
- In short, do anything that brings you joy and will create wonderful memories to remind you of all the wonderful things in life.
Summer Solstice
The Summer Solstice is celebrated on June 21st where the Sun is at its highest power, meaning an abundance of life, growth, and energy. The Summer Solstice marks the point in which the Sun's power will fade, reminding us nothing last forever. It is also a time of appreciation for the Sun's power and energy, thanking the Sun for the abundance that Spring has brought, and knowing the Sun's power will return again next year. It is a good time to honour Persephone for the cycle of the seasons.
Colours: Blue, green, gold, red, orange, white, yellow.
Deities: Artemis, Athena, Eos, Apollo, Helios, Hera.
Decorations: Flowers (especially roses or sunflowers), herbs, fruits, vegetables - anything to symbolize the growth that the Sun has brought; mirrors, seashells, symbols of the sun.

- Watched the sunset, acknowledging that the sun's power fades as it sets, and it will continue to fade for the rest of the year, but its power will return once again next year – that's the cycle of the sun and the seasons.
Festival of The Harvest
The Festival of the Harvest is celebrated from July 31st to August 1st. It is a time to give thanks for the first corn and grain of the season, and to enjoy the fresh harvest. It is a time to thank Gaia and Demeter for their efforts this growing season in order to enjoy the plentiful harvest. It is also a time to face our fears and improve ourselves as winter is approaching, so we must get used to the darker parts of ourselves.

We all know I’m a lazy witch. Of course in a perfect world I would spend every moment planting lavender around my garden, perfecting my tea blends, and staying warm in my cozy cabin by the fire. But in reality I have barely enough time to get in the shower before I start my day. And I don't own a cabin so…. So in reality is that really lazy? Or has capitalism made us all squish out every second out of our day getting stuff done just so we can do in all over tomorrow? Yes. Yes it has. So when I say I’m a lazy witch, maybe I’m just an exhausted witch. Either way, here are my favorite lazy witch hacks for when you are out of time, or just don’t have the energy to put in a full two hour ritual every full moon.
Visualize your circles around you and forgo placing crystals or items in an actual circle. Magic is metaphorically speaking so just imagining yourself in a big bubble will do just fine.
Keep your crystals on your windowsill so you don’t have to remember to charge them with the moonlight.
Every candle is a magic candle.
A shower anytime makes a great cleansing ritual.
5 minute meditations for releasing stress works wonders when you’re feeling over it.
Pull a single tarot card when you have a question that needs guidance.
Step outside barefoot to ground yourself and just stand in th dirt for a few minutes.
Leve a portion of your dinner uneaten for ancestors.
Keep witchy spell notes on your phone.
Use moon tracking apps so you don’t have to keep checking the moon phase.
Use white tea light candles for everything because sometimes it really just doesn’t matter.
Stir things clockwise (coffee, tea, cake mixes) to bring towards you and counterclockwise to let go or release.
Line your front door with salt for protection.
Place rose quartz in your room to remind yourself to self-love
Make meals with intention, think about health or happiness next time your microwave your mac and cheese.
Light a match and blow it out to suck up any bad vibes in a room.
Wear blue to manifest passing a test or getting a new job.
Walk outside during a full moon and spend a few minutes recharging under the moon light.
Spend a few minutes every morning writing down your intentions for manifesting your life and visualizing what you want daily.
Remember that you are a badass witch and don’t forget it.

When NOT to Use Herbs in Witchcraft - Witchy Quick Tips
Herbs are a huge part of many people's craft, but you need to know when to use them and when not to. Here is a quick guide on just that!
Tumblr media
When NOT to use herbs
This probably sounds a little strange if you're not too familiar with herbs, but stick with me here: there is a time and a place for everything, even herbs. Here are some examples of when you shouldn't use herbs:
If Consuming:
if you or those around you are severely allergic
if the herbs in question interact with any medications that you take
if the herbs are known to interact or otherwise mess with any mental or physical disorders you may have
If Burning:
if pets, small children, or someone with a lung condition is around
if you are in an enclosed space with little to no ventilation
if you're renting, make sure it's okay to use incense or burning herbs
Other Notes:
Make sure to keep all herbs out of reach of pets or small children, herbs should only be consumed if properly prepared (like in food) or they have been given the OK by a medical professional.
If you are foraging, make sure the herb you're looking at is actually the herb you're looking for; many safe herbs have VERY harmful--even deadly--look a likes.
Never replace your prescribed medication with herbs.
Also do not use herbal supplements if you're unaware of the side effects that they could cause.
Never use herbal supplements from shady or unknown sources.

Getting Back into Witchcraft - 10/30/23 - Who Can Use Witchcraft?
Literally anyone can use witchcraft. Simple as that.
Tumblr media
But, for the sake of (me) delving back into witchcraft, let's talk about the historical and relevant point of this idea - that witchcraft has primarily been used as a tool of the oppressed, undermined, marginalized, chronically ill, mentally ill, poor, othered, etc. This includes various cultures and indigenous practice (where referred to by these groups as such).
While it is somewhat difficult as just someone on the internet to find specific examples of this, it shouldn't be a surprise that the constant onslaught of government control, societal conservatism, religious colonialism & imperialism, the wiping out of various cultures, the entirety of the feminist and lgbtqia+ movement around the world - provokes ordinary people to disconnect from the norm in order to find peace, power and to fight back in ways that money and class can't afford them, because it often isn't accessible.
One example of course is the spell that was cast by Gerald Gardner and his group of witches in an attempt to keep Adolf Hitler at bay in the 40's. Whether you believe that it actually made a difference or not, it represents a time when people were so incensed about injustice and protecting their land, that they chose to conjure a defense mechanism built out of pure will and theory.
(Barring of course the very real criticism of Gardner, this is just an example we can use)
*And important note though in regards to this story, is that Gardner also volunteered as an air raid warden and provided some weapons as a part of tangible defense. In the same way, I think it's important to recognize that -
a) Being a witch implies that you are at odds with society, and you need to participate in activism in real life, and
b) doing so only increases the likelihood of your spells to work because you've already put energy into tangible actions
We will definitely talk about that idea more under the topic of spellcrafting, but I think it's important to recognize that being a witch is inherently political and socially at odds with the mainstream. It seems like as witchcraft becomes more acceptable and watered down, people do and will tend to ignore this for the sake of false positivity, love and light etc. But if we are using witchcraft as a tool to better ourselves or to protect ourselves from negativity, we should also be using it to do that for those around us that are disadvantaged or targeted.
Another point is that especially in the 00's, as we've learned about how dangerous covens can be, especially for women, that connection within the witchcraft community is becoming harder and harder to cultivate. People are wary, weary and there is always the looming risk of white supremacy leaking into our circles. So it is even more important to be knowledgeable about politics, dog whistles, scams, cults and about what sexual abuse can entail. At the end of the day, it is more dangerous for you to be uninformed and avoiding all negativity. Knowlege is what gives you protection and power.
On a related note - although there is still a big social implication that witches can only be women and a lot of the violence has been targeted at women, it is historically incorrect and factually incorrect that only biological females (ew) can practice witchcraft. That's not even considering that most of the original texts on witchcraft were written by men because women were either not allowed to be authors or had a very hard time accessing education or support in that sense. This contributed historically to afab people having to practice in seclusion or private and being demonized while men had an easier time sharing their own ideas. *Some people tend to think that this further justifies men being barred from being welcome in witchy spaces - and there are valid concerns - but at the end of the day that's enough proof that men, women and anyone in between can participate in occult practice and study it. I think it's also fair to say that while gender isn't a true factor in being able to cast spells, it can certainly shape your practice in an individual sense, and there are lessons to be learned from anyone who practices regardless of gender, or because of it!
Then comes the great debate -
Is "witch" a gender neutral term?
And yes, I think in 2023 we have come to the conclusion that it is - that witchcraft transcends gender - but there are always alternatives for those that may not feel comfortable with the social implications of gender that come with that term, or similarly Wizard or Warlock.
For that we can use practitioner, magician, mage, sorcerer, enchanter, occultist, (insert sect here)-mancer, etc.
I'm not sure if it's still used widely, but at one time "Wix" was also introduced as a non-binary version of Witch and is totally acceptable.
So, let's end this off with another Tarot reading!
Tumblr media
Who can practice withcraft - The Hermit, Reversed
Personally I feel like the connection here is the idea that isolating and gatekeeping the practice of witchcraft in regards to gender is limiting and harmful to the overall potential of knowledge available to us. Becoming so bent on a single idea or belief can be harmful and limits us as a community and a resource of power, and putting yourself (or your gender) above others when it comes to access doesn't gain you any favors or special privilege. We can all walk individual paths within witchcraft, but closing off the experience as a whole is harmful.
Is being a witch inherently political - 10 of Pentacles
This makes me think about the dynamic that the oppressed and underserved are constantly at odds with - the desire and fight to have the same resources as those with generational wealth, access to healthcare, access to education, even having access to community in general. A critical point of witchcraft is to put control back into our hands where society or global power has taken away that luxury. The 10 of pentacles represents all of that, and how that wealth of knowledge and even tangible wealth spreads out to our communities when we actually foster that kind of environment. To me, witchcraft is a path for a lot of people to build safe spaces and thriving communities while under a much larger pretense of control.
What gives a witch power - The Wheel of Fortune, Reversed
The Reversed Wheel represents confusion and the inability to predict the future; it is a feeling of being out of control. So consequently, what gives a witch power is the ability to flip the card and produce clarity, bold decisions and wrangling all of the ways that the world throws you off. This could be through personal inner work, breaking generational curses. This could be through building up your own confidence and trusting your intuition. This could be through calling on various other powers and taking problems head on in unconventional ways. Just because the world is spinning in a different direction doesn't mean that you cannot find and cultivate a personal balance by tapping into your own power. Witches are path makers. Where there is none, a witch's power is to make one.
It's not a competition.
There it is. There is no point in trying to put yourself higher than others when it comes to witchcraft. It is a personal tool and experience, and people unlike you practicing it doesn't make you any less able to reach your goals. It is for everyone.

- astrology (just cover the basics, i don’t rly use astrology in my practice but u can if u want!)
- types of witches
2. Get a book for your research, preferably a basic beginner’s book. I recommend “Spells For Change” by Frankie Castanea. link here
3. This is kinda optional, but get some supplies! I recommend:
- oracle card deck (easier to learn than tarot cards)
- candles: white is the best for beginners as it can represent any meaning!
- incense sticks like frankincense, patchouli, sandalwood
- crystals: i recommend clear quartz since it can be programmed to any need!
4. Your first spell should be a protection spell! remember to cast a circle before you start. i recommend a spell jar to start since they’re rly easy to make. see photo below for one I made :) (but DONT USE WHITE SAGE UNLESS UR INDIGENOUS PLZ, i used garden sage)
Tumblr media
5. Take your time. Lots of baby witches make the mistake of jumping right into spirit work and deity work, but plz don’t do that! Def wait at least a few months of lots of practice and research to stay safe :) once you’re better experienced, try to work with your spirit guides. they are very supportive and help me so much with my daily life.
6. Get excited! Witchcraft is very healing for me and also rly fun!
Tysm for reading, good luck! i believe in u!

Witchcraft and Communing with Spirit
Tumblr media
Dealing with spirit I must say is inevitable when you delve into witchcraft and for that, people should be prepared and know what to do when they do come across spirit.
We have a flow of people coming to us with questions and concerns on what they are experiencing and we always say this….if you wish to communicate, learn how to safely do it. If you do not, then you need to know how to shut down and keep closed for business so to speak.
But we’ve found that not everyone is willing to put in the time to learn properly and want it done then and there, then come in asking further of us to basically sort them out. This isn’t something anyone can just ‘sort’ out for you, you yourself need to put in the work and develop your way of communication or closing down so you can do it whenever the time comes.
I started dealing with spirit before I delved into witchcraft which was over a decade ago and let me tell you it’s not something you just go into willy nilly. When you don’t know how to protect or shut down then you’re basically open for business all the time and spirit have no idea of time so if you’re flashing an open sign at your door then they are gonna come in and try to communicate whenever and wherever. You may not even get the opportunity to have your say in this matter, if spirit REALLY needs to communicate with you they will try their damn hardest to gain that contact and if you ignore them then things can happen stronger. For example, things moving around the house or going missing, noises you’re not used to, your name being called, the list really does go on. This is when you NEED to pay attention and find out who and what they want. If you are afraid then you can ask someone who is within this field for help in communicating with them.
Please beware of people offering clearances for hundreds or thousands of pounds because they are taking advantage of you and your issue will not get sorted. We have had many people come to us for help after being taken advantage of and we have aided them for free and they are now calm and clear of any negativity and spirits (if there was any in the first place)
Let me tell you a little story about my first encounter with spirit…
The first spirit I came across (that i remember) was my grandad who passed with cancer when I was 15. I was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy the same year and while we were dealing with the loss of a loved one and my health diagnosis I used to stay around my nans house quite a bit and I used to sleep on my grandads side of the bed.
A year after he passed away, I kept feeling someone by the side of the bed and waking me up with a jolt of electricity through my body. This happened practically every night and even when I was sleeping in my own bed I could feel the same energy there. This I must admit used to  scare me a bit because I had never come across anything like that before and I couldn't work out why I could sense exactly where this energy was and that it was shaped in human form. I could see the image in my mind’s eye and I didn’t know how to close down. Afterall I was only 15 and this sort of thing isn’t taught in schools. I did feel like I was going a bit doolally.
I spoke to my nan about it and she said ‘It’s your grandad’ which then didn’t scare me, it actually comforted me knowing he was still around and making contact with me. However I was losing sleep over it and all he was trying to do was have contact with me while I wasn’t preoccupied with usual day to day life.
You see when you are in bed and drifting off to sleep your energy rises to a lighter level and this is easier for spirit to reach us for contact so that’s why a lot of the time people experience spirit while they are in bed, trying to sleep or in their dreams.
After around another year my Aunt passed away. I then started to feel 2 spirit energies at the bottom of my bed. I could feel one was male and one was female and I could feel the different sizes of them as if they were physically standing in front of me. I knew this was my aunt and grandad together coming to say hello. So I used to greet them back.
Once I acknowledged them the feeling of being unsure dissipated and I was able to easily have them around me without any fear at all.
Little did I know this was only the beginning of my journey and they were preparing me for more work with spirit. You see if you come across a spirit of a loved one first and know it is them then you’re not scared because they loved you in the physical plane, so why wouldn't they still love and care for you in the spirit world. They will protect you on the other side now as they did when they walked the earth with us.
Years passed and I used to go on paranormal investigations with mum (who bloomin loves paranormal) where I'd meet other spirit energies and communicate with them. I attended classes on different subjects such as mediumship, meditation, witchcraft and alternative healing modalities where I learnt how to communicate safely and shut down when I no-longer wanted to communicate.
This led to my grandad introducing me to one of my Spiritual Guide. I was much more comfortable and accepting of a new energy because I trusted my grandad and knew he wouldn’t let anyone come near me if they weren't safe.
And there my journey truly began with my Guides and Spirit.
Now working with my guides is my first protocol when I wish to do any spirit work whatsoever as they are my security guards on the other side. They keep me safe and help with communication or work I have to do. They have also helped me plan classes according to what my students need at that time and I must say they are always right. I usually get told that they were discussing the subject or reading up on it and then we surprisingly do it within the class, so it makes sense that I was guided to cover that subject.
So working with spirit can be very beneficial within your spiritual journey and I find it ever so important and beneficial to work with spirit within my craft. They have actually made my work more powerful as I’m able to tap into other energies to help elevate my own power when casting spells or rituals.
Working with spirit can be as simple as meditation and asking for guidance on what you need to do or go as far as conjuring spirit and asking them to join you within your space. Now here lies the danger so to speak, you need to have your protection up and knowledge of energies before you just invite an energy in because the energy that comes through may not be the one you’ve asked for and has basically invaded the space or the energy is so strong that you cannot cope with it.
Then you have to remove the energy/spirit fully so it’s not to bring any problems to you. This is where work, connection and confidence with your guides comes in, if you haven’t got them by your side and at full strength to be with you then you’re going to have problems with removing energy. This is where lack of knowledge and dabbling can bring you misfortune.
So please know what you're doing first and who you’re working with before you just dive head first into working with spirit. Not everything on the other side is all love and light.
Attend classes and work with mentors within this field of work to work on your own protection and communication skills with spirit to gain the knowledge and experience before you battle anything, if anything on your own.
As I said, working with spirit can definitely enhance your work within your spiritual journey or craft so delving into them I say go for it, but learn, grow and above all, take your time.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and no craft can be mastered in a day or one class. It takes practise, practise, practise.

Calling in and working with Deities is the same, they have stories behind them, things they like as offerings, deities that they can work hand in hand together and others who are completely opposite that it would be unwise to call them in as well. Deity work is a process again.
It’s not ‘dial a deity’ and one will come to you and it's that easy. They have to have a reason they come and work with you and it must be beneficial to them as well. They will need payment in form of offerings such as incense, crystals, drinks (wine, sale, whiskey), food etc
Each deity will respond to the correct energy, offerings and dedication above all to lend their energy to you to heighten your work. If you’re just going to call in a different deity everytime you work, your own energy is off and you need to stop, re-evaluate why you're calling them in and respect them more to know they don’t just come at your beck and call.
Again dedication is highly recommended. I personally only work with Hekate and wouldn't dream of bringing in another deity because I don't know enough about them or kick Hekate to the side because someone else may do the job better for me.
1. that deity wouldn’t come and 2. How disrespectful to Hekate.
I do daily mantras to keep a thread of communication and connection to Hekate and regular offerings, rites and work with her to keep my connection with her strong.
So you want to work with a deity?
First of all ask yourself why you wish to work with a deity? I know of witches who don’t believe in them so therefore don’t work with them and they get along just fine on their witchy journey.
Second, ask yourself if you want to work with a female, male or both?
What pantheon? Greek, Celtic, Roman, Sumarian? Egyptian? There are so many to delve into and explore.
So say you’ve researched and feel drawn to one or two. Or a deities name keeps coming up in books you've read or within shows you watched, there’s a reason the name keeps coming up.
Now learn more about them. What are their likes and dislikes? What do they look like and feel like when contact is made? Do they like particular times of day or moon cycle? Can you commit to dedicating yourself to them?
As I mentioned above, there’s a lot more to it than ‘dial a deity’.
Meditate on it and ask for them to draw near for clarification, do some divination and see what is said about this connection.
Ask you guides, as they will be the ones allowing safe connections to be made.
Once you have all the necessary information then get going, perform a ritual to them and give offerings to them. However don’t expect them to make physical connections straight away. You won’t get this ‘oh my goddess you have come’ moment. Connection will take time and you may not feel the connection for a while, but keep going with your dedication and soon enough you will be heard and they will respond. Then your work with them with truly begin.
I hope this has given you a little insight into working with spirit and how important it is to be connected with your guides and have the knowledge before working with spirit/dieties.
Many Blessing to You All

Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: Review
Tumblr media
This is: Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: The History, Remedies, and Spells of a Rich Folk Magic Tradition by Auburn Lily
Rating: 2/10
Pros: Some information presented is correct, like the information on “ingredients” isn’t too bad if not a super small amount of them, she mentioned red clay which a lot of books seem to forget exists. And this book’s aesthetics? 10/10 for the illustration work, colors, fonts! I also appreciated the insistence that you help the land as much as possible, as well as the land’s original inhabitants and to give Indigenous voices space.
Cons: There is so much I was so disappointed by. First off let’s get this out of the way: The author in her bio on her own website auburnlily.com claims she is a starseed. I have a LOT of personal feelings about the Starseed movement and how it damages the progress of mental health and getting help and medication for said mental disorders. But this should have been the first major red flag that this book would not be what it says on the cover.
A lot of my problems are as follows:
Most folk workers don’t use the same three or four ingredients…in this case:
Peppermint. Rose. Essential Oils. Crystals, usually citrine or black tourmaline.
Actually we tend to not use crystals at all unless we’ve adapted them into our practice ourselves…the old folk didn’t have pretty rocks to use they got at the New Age store in the town square, alright?
A LOT of this information is definitely tinged in a new age and modern light. The correspondences for the days of the week mentions “The Goddess” which we don’t…deal with??? At all??
Another example:
Grannies used to use the bible and ‘faith healing’ to avoid persecution from their community.
Absolutely not! She mentioned the witch trials a minimum of 6 times, which (ahaha good pun) almost made me roll my eyes into the back of my head, then I read the bible to avoid persecution part and almost burned the book on the spot.
Faith healing is NOT a cop out.
It was the way things WERE. Were there hexers? Yes. Were they given a wide berth sometimes? Also yes. But they also had their place in the community! The hexer in my family, Flossie, was respected with some fear, but she was also the person who scorned lovers and cheated on spouses went to. When the police were hounding moonshiners a few came to her for cop go away works.
The author also insinuates that Yarb Doctors were held in higher regard because they didn’t use faith/and or gender may have had a point in that. I dunno what yarb doctors and grannies she talked to but men were not allowed in the birthing room, that was a Granny’s responsibility and by god they did it well. You never backtalked a Granny, they were and are the backbones of their communities.
Now that I’m off that soapbox, the author also seems to believe that meditation, third eyes, astrology in a modern way, and crystals are critical for Appalachian witchcraft which is stupidly incorrect. Her recipe for floor wash is hogwash and far too simple and small, her candle color correspondences are laughable…especially that little line on Orange: “Helps with menstrual cramps.” If that was the case no straight woman in Tennessee would get cramps because they all wear orange at least once a week for their team.
She only uses Hoodoo like…3 times which is better than most authors so I supposed that’s progress? But the author also hates baneful work and makes mention of that fact numerous times.
The author also has quite a few love spells mentioned, and weirdly enough…a lot of her ingredients in OTHER spells are also the same ingredients in her love spells. How strange.
My final and most damning gripe, the author seems to believe that stereotypes make for amazing offerings to the ancestors. In particular…the Irish would appreciate offerings of potatoes. You have to be kidding me.
Overall: Yet another new age witch trying to make folk magic look far more complicated and fluffy than it is. I hated this so much. I didn't even touch the "Open the healing channel" and "Reparative Visualization" "SPELLS" she includes which sounds like absolute woowoo.
Proof of some of these claims are below:

This is my self-love altar. It's really small, but now I'm using one table for both studies and everything else, so I made this small and on a tray instead. It's really simple to make!
Things on my altar:
3 tealight candles - 2 pink and 1 white. I would rather put 1 white, 1 pink, and 1 red candle but honestly, it doesn't matter as long as the intention is there. The bad thing about tealights is that they don't last for so long, so I'm only going to light them when I say my affirmations.
1 sigil - I got the idea from Pinterest. I like how it turned out.
4 shells - these are also associated with love. I don't work with deities, but for those who do, shells are connected to Aphrodite. Water is generally connected to emotions, and I added them because my zodiac sign (both sun and moon) is Cancer ♋.
1 moonstone - also can be associated with my sign, and the moon, and intuitive abilities. I don't have a rose quartz but this is also associated with love sometimes. It's best to put a crystal that you like, and it doesn't always have to be associated with love.
4 jasmine flowers - also can be used if you don't have roses. There's a jasmine plant in my garden, and I pick the flowers from there. I also personally like it as it works well for intuition. Jasmine is also a popular flower in Kerala (my state, in India) so there's the cultural aspect of it too.
1 love poem - from the poet Rumi. The poem I chose is 'The Beauty of the Heart'. I read it when I'm working with my altar.
1 bracelet - which I enchanted. It was a gift to me from my dad, and I wear it whenever I go outside. It's also got diamonds, which are also associated with love.
1 lip balm - I enchanted this too with some intentions
1 mirror - because the only person that matters the most in your life is you! I look into it every day to say my affirmations.
The affirmations I use:
I am beautiful, inside and out.
I love myself, and so I attract love.
