seeing a post that gets some things right (interesting complex john thoughts) but other parts dead wrong (bad dean takes) has me like *eye twitch*

#reducing a complicated plot to dean hates all monsters and thinks every monster needs to be killed is um. first of all not even canon #do i need to bring out all the posts abt dean's monster ethics and how he thinks a monster is someone who hurts / kills innocent ppl #and that definition includes humans who do monstrous things too (a theme explored in multiple episodes in s1 !!!!) #but anyways. no he did not think jack should be killed bc he was ~not human~ he thought jack was a Dangerous supernatural being #since ya know. he Was. literally thee most powerful being after god / amara. and they had no idea what he might do. he was not their Baby #or their Kid yet. he was a stranger. a strange new supernatural being that they might have to stop. #s12 finale literally leaves off on a cliffhanger positioning jack to potentially be the new 'Big Bad' #so he's a stranger AND the son of lucifer (they had no idea how that would affect jack yet) AND he seemingly brainwashed cas and kelly #bc remember cas was all about Free Will and Choice and Fuck Heaven / Paradise / Peace #and then suddenly he's going against his core beliefs talking abt paradise on earth and jack needing to fulfill his Destiny like ??? #i'd be sus af too if i were dean #dean had no reason to trust jack right off the bat. 'oh but he should've trusted him bc cas did' ok and cas is dead now so ?? #then there's the soulless jack stuff which is a whole other complicated beast. and dean was not the only one trying to stop jack then eithe #but anyways. no you cannot reduce dean's complex feelings abt jack to simply 'lol dean hates monsters and wants them all dead' #he doesn't. half his family and friends are literally monsters. anyways. #vic.txt

I started reading Lord of the Rings (bought Fellowship of the Ring like… last spring but never got around to starting) and I’d just like to say. Holy fuck what a slow book. okay so i've been thinking a LOT about the next avatar sequel , 'avatar: the seed bearer' and , as we all know , if you don't then SPOILER ALERT , neteyam is going to (most likely) be resurrected on that film + the protagonists will meet a new tribe called the ash people .

that is enough for me to make one hundred scenarios between neteyam and a member of the ash people (maybe the first child of their olo'eyktan), i've even picked out a name for them , i'm so invested in this !

p.s.: james cameron said that he will take a different direction w the ash people from what he did w the omaticaya & metkayina , he wants the na'vi as 'bad guys' this time , so imagine . . . the enemies -> lovers i'm dead

i've seen many character deaths, i am basically used to my fav characters dying, but something about this particular death feels so very cruel, considering all that happened this season and the show's usually more lighthearted tone.

especially as it's being sold as something beautiful and 'necessary' and then pushed aside for a slapped on happy ending that rang very hollow, to me at least

Picture this: Eddie and Steve trudging through the Upside Down, walking quite a few paces behind the girls. Eddie circling back around to the subject of music in a nervous attempt to keep things light-hearted because they’re walking through almost-literal-Hell right now and this isn’t doing much good to soothe his anxiety. With every word Steve says- from his confused questioning of heavy rock artists to his confirmation of loving Toto -Eddie looks a little more horrified.

“You’ve gotta listen to people with some stage presence-”

“Who cares about stage presence over the radio?”

“It’s a whole different angry loud beast! Has no one tried to show you the ways of the performance artist?”

Steve’s eyes get distant at that, thinking of another mullet-headed man. Eddie doesn’t quite notice.

“You can even call it glam-rock if you want! I’m sure you like that, Mr. The Hair. It’s all about the theater. Like... Alice Cooper!”

“What… she hot?” Steve asks, suddenly snapping back into it.

“It’s a dude. And he rocks. He sings this song called I Love the Dead and on stage he gets his head chopped off and then the executioner picks up the severed head and makes out-”

“Ew, god that’s gross dude, don’t talk about that-”

“It’s sick and twisted and awesome. It’s all- hold on hold on.”

Eddie gets his hands in position then, posing over a non-existent guitar around his chest as he pretends to play it, more so wailing than singing the words in time with his fake accompaniment.

“I love the dead~”

Steve makes a grossed out face at that.

“I love the dead~”

And in the background, the real guitar starts to fade into the soundtrack, vocals sparking up behind Eddie’s acapella performance.

“I love the dead~” Eddie sings again, getting closer to Steve- to sing it into his ear this time- while Steve shoves at him and tells him to knock it off. That’s when they bump into the girls ahead of them, Steve cussing quietly and asking them what they think they’re doing.

The song is building steadily behind them, a guitar riff wailing as the two boys shift their focus to where the two girls are gawking. Their jaws drop, Eddie being the first to speak:

“Isn’t that?”

“It can’t be-” Nancy whispers.

“Holy shit.” Robin croaks.

And Steve takes a few steps forward, pushing past the girls to stare with wide, shocked eyes at: “Billy?”

And then there stands Billy, backlit for a quick second by a shock of lightning, looking a little worse for wear with his blood-stained shirt, face hardened and hand wrapped tightly around a gnarly looking crowbar, the song in the background now loudly singing I love the dead as he stares the rest of the teens down.... before he cracks an amused but snarling sort of grin.

“Miss me?”

#the dragon prince #tdp #tdp fic #rayllum #rayla #callum #harrow #viren #aaravos #claudia #this is an alternate imagining of Rayla's letter to Callum and the events following Through the Moon #where Callum immediately goes after her seeking to reunite #okay i'm trying not to say anything about season 4 in public because i don't have the time/energy to get into internet debates #all i'm going to say is that i really REALLY love Through the Moon #the art is beautiful the colors are gorgeous and the expressions and poses are so natural and fluid #i read it close to when it came out and it felt to me like an actual TDP episode (complete with cliffhanger) #all the dialogue was so in-character i heard it in the characters' voices and the scenes and concepts felt very fitting for the world #i love the phoenix rebirth ceremony. the colors of the lake at night were gorgeous it was beautiful #the ending felt to me like an obvious setup for rayla to get into some kind of exciting and adventurous peril and callum to help her out #and then they talk and learn that actually lying isn't such a great idea after all and they continue together #this was VERY HEAVILY telegraphed. the 'white lies' line is often repeated together with a character saying 'i'm not sure lying is right' #it seemed OBVIOUS to me that callum was going to find rayla a few days later and this would be resolved strengthening their bond further #Through the Moon got me hyped for season 4 and i was fully thinking it would open with rayla in the midst of some kind of exciting danger #then the info about the timeskip came out and it was like wait what but i still thought it'd be resolved in some way... #it was set up PERFECTLY to resolve the conflict and then they didn't deliver that resolution #and the fact that people are now calling through the moon a mistake hurts my heart (i'm not even invested in rayllum but its a great comic!) #so anyway i wrote down how i had imagined it might continue lol (but the writers are free to tell the story they want to tell) #i don't want to compete or try to compare with canon but just have fun imagining an alternate outcome!
