christmas day tv binge part 2: watching the call the midwife christmas special has been mine and my mum’s christmas tradition since I was like 13, every year it has us both crying
love nancy and colette stuff but seeing nancy always makes me wish sister frances was still around because I always loved their dynamic being the younger people at nonnatus and having had such different lives (yes, I kind of shipped them)
similar feelings about loving cyril but seeing him making me miss lucille
sister monica joan has consistently been one of my favourites for a while and I really loved the stuff about them trying to recreate a christmas from her childhood
seems like most of what we get from patrick, shelagh and their kids these days is them being domestic and I do love that but I wonder if we might be heading towards something to do with may’s biological mother in the new season or if that was just for the special
call the midwife does patient storylines like no other show of this type, I always manage to get so attached to these characters we usually only see for one episode and I always love the connections between the patients and the main characters (and also the other patients) <3
honestly, I don’t know whether I should post on this blog or my medical drama sideblog if I ever want to post about the next series of call the midwife once it starts, cause on one hand it is technically medical and very much dramatic, but on the other hand it’s a period drama and not really set out in the same way as casualty at all. the seasons are short enough that I’m sure you guys won’t be as annoyed if I post about it over here as you would be if I did all my casualtyposting over here

CHARA INTRO: next up, dylan hwang. he's a 27yr old yuseong bay native, though his heart's not entirely here & he's only recently come back. he's the manager of ojo records and a "rockstar" (used loosely) on hiatus. you can view his stats here & his pinterest here if interested!
answer the following prompts, either ooc or ic!
when did your muse first arrive in yuseong bay?: in general, 20+ years ago. dylan was born & raised in santa monica, ca, usa, but spent summers in yuseong bay with his maternal grandparents & then relocated to yuseong bay with his mom when he was about 14. lived in the area until he was 19, then moved to seoul. moved back to yuseong bay in late january 2024 to take some time to focus on himself/his physical & mental health.
what does an average day look like for your muse?: wake up, tend to his pet rats, go to work around 10:20am / open the shop by 11am, work until 6:30pm, get dinner, find something social to do for a while (or skip this step), go home, tend to his pet rats, chill, do chores, chill, kiss his rats goodnight, go to bed.
where can your muse usually be found?: first and foremost, ojo records. as the manager & one of two employees, he's pretty much always there. his favorite post-work hangout is pierrot lanes, where he either hangs around the pool tables to hustle anyone who doesn't know better or plays some of the more classic arcade games. hangs out at 88& bar more than he ought to as someone who's trying to quit drinking, but still not as often as you'd think—maybe two nights a week. stops by memoire antiques every weekend, usually around noon on either saturday or sunday. sometimes goes through stints where he won't be seen anyone other than work, as he'll be rotting in bed for the rest of his time. usually tries to stay busy.
how does your muse feel about hanwha resort?: it's complicated.
is there an aspiration for your muse to stay in or leave yuseong bay?: on one hand, yuseong bay is his hometown & where all of his remaining family is located.... on the other, it's a little too quiet for him. but at this moment in time, he's staying in yuseong bay to "reconnect with his roots", take it slow and try to take on a healthier lifestyle, as the way he was living in seoul turned him into a candle burning at both ends & he'll be in yuseong bay until he feels like that's become a more stable and mature person.

what is a book/tv series/movie/video game character that you feel your character relates to?: he's inspired a bit by jonah simms from superstore & nick miller from newgirl, so do with that what you will.
a relevant goal or arch for your character to overcome: for starters, dylan is a man who never made peace with the loss of his father, which happened fourteen years ago now so hopefully being with his family again/taking a break from his fast-paced lifestyle will help him kind of heal??? TW ALCOHOLISM he's also trying to get sober because in general he has an addictive personality and should really quit before it gets any worse than it already is and also he experienced alcohol poisoning and that shit is no joke. so yeah... get sober! END TW
ADDITIONAL INFO.
dylan is the founder, frontman & lead guitarist of a band interchangeably called both haze & through the haze, which he started when he was 19, shortly after he moved to seoul. their main inspirations are cited as being the cocteau twins & blue oyster cult. they never got to the point of being a widely known name, but they're performed at various indie rock festivals nationwide. currently on an indefinite hiatus as dylan decided to take some time to focus on himself & get healthy, which is nice and all, but the rest of the band's kinda pissed 'cause they've been fighting to get a record deal, they finally got one and dylan blew it off. their discography draws from the likes of silica gel, thornapple, hyukoh & the black skirts.
he's from santa monica, california, where he was born and raised for the first 14 years of his life, but he spent summers in yuseong bay with his maternal grandparents. his dad passed away in late 2009, and in early 2010, dylan, his sister, his mother, and his uncle richie (his dad's brother) all relocated to yuseong bay permanently.
dylan's mom opened a hair salon in the area, which she still owns and works at to this day. dylan's sister works there with her, and dylan briefly worked there when he was 18-19 (despite not being licensed lmfao). every now and then he'll pop in to help still.
dylan moved to seoul in 2016, where he resided with only one or two visits to yuseong bay a year up until he moved back in january 2024.
is now the manager of ojo records! the job was absolutely handed to him, as his uncle richie is a good friend of the owner & dylan spent a good amount of time with the two of them while he was growing up. but despite getting handed the job, he is actually a dedicated manager.
he skateboards & is good at it, but falls a lot because he always wants to be better and achieve more. often scraped up.
lives alone with his two pet rats. somewhat of a hoarder. not intervention-level yet, but it could probably get to that point if he's not careful. collects objects to fill his emotional void.

hey i'm river! this is my comics sideblog, and you can also find my main @cirth-ithil, my star trek sideblog @transjadziadax, and on ao3 as moonrunes. my pronouns are they/them if you please, i'm an adult, i'm japanese-american, i'm a writer, and i've been reading comics for Far Too Long.
i mostly post about x men, with a side of other marvel stuff and a very small amount of dc. most characters are going to be tagged with [name]/[codename], tho sometimes that doesn't work very well (especially with magneto, or monica rambeau, etc) so that tagging system is not to be trusted (especially since tumblr keeps deleting my tags?). if you need me to tag something for a trigger lmk
i have many favorite Guys (gender neutral) but i have a particular soft spot for the new mutants and the champions. i do have an actual list of favorite characters but it's a little long for an intro post

Hi! I enjoyed talking to you too! Yeah, it's stupid but we can't send asks or replies through our sideblogs.
I've answered this question before, so I hope you don't mind if I refer you to an old post!
It's hard to say, because none of the individual relationships spoke to me that much. I enjoyed the group more as a whole! But I really loved co-parents Ross and Rachel and also really liked Ross and Monica and Rachel and Monica's relationships! I used to like Joey and Chandler's friendship a lot, but it changed too much over time. Joey and Phoebe's friendship was really nice too.
Joey and Rachel are number 1, and numbers 2 and 3 are shared by Monica and Richard and Monica and Chandler. I never know if I like Monica better with Richard or Chandler. Tbh, I wanted Monica and Richard to be endgame, because I think they had great chemistry and their relationship was really sweet and balanced, but Chandler was probably a better match for Monica since she wanted children and to grow old with someone (it would've been hard to grow old with Richard due to the age difference).
Obviously, I ship Rachel and Joey! I like Monica and Richard too, and I don't think that's a popular opinion? Also, I'm not sure, but I think people either hate or love Ross? While I agree that Ross was terrible at times, especially to Rachel in the first seasons, I think he grew up a lot and wasn't always the villain some fans make him out to be. He was the funniest character on the show imo, and one of the reasons why I love the latter seasons. David really livened up those seasons with his charisma and how he progressively played Ross in the most self-deprecating way possible. The writers helped by leaning into that interpretation of Ross as well. David had no qualms about making a fool of himself, and he had fun with it too! It was smart of them because no one likes the asshole, but Ross was so pathetic and ridiculous that it became hard to dislike him. By capitalizing on his weaknesses and vulnerabilities, he became a more compelling, interesting, and likable character. Also, while the show got a bit serious over time, Ross evolved in the opposite direction which is why I think he (partially) made the latter seasons. Is strongly disliking Phoebe an unpopular opinion? Also, I preferred her with David over Mike. I wanted her and David to be endgame!

The mission to Rhedrise was a failure. With alarms blaring, security within the facility was reinforced and all important documents put on lockdown. The rebellion had no choice but to retreat with their tails between their legs.
Owain was promptly removed from his position as the rebellion’s leader, and the organization instilled Kris in his stead. Est became the new advisor. It was by their quick thinking that they managed to move their base mere hours before their old one was destroyed by a javelin of light.
Ethlyn was killed during the escape from Rhedrise.
Lyn was shot during the escape from Rhedrise and later died from her injuries.
Lucina and Chrom, though now once more members of the Empire, were never trusted enough to receive promotions and remained at the bottom of the ladder for the rest of their lives.
Mercedes continued to serve Commander Malo in all missions.
Monica left to pursue gold elsewhere, though she frequently took jobs with the empire.
Disillusioned with her work, and learning the truth about her history, Eir decided to flee the empire with Sara and Elysium in tow.
With another snap, coils of dark magic ensnare Ro and Nine and pull them from the stage. The man - Melanthios, as some might recognize - examines the thoughtfully as they struggle. “You never learned the truth,” he says, but shakes his head. “But no matter, I know these two are what I seek.” And third snap transforms them into shards like fragments of bone - one marked by a mountain, the other a cloud. Melanthios claps again, and your stage falls apart.

hi battie how is your trip going?? any highlights?
I'm going to go ahead and answer this one first, so y'all get a rundown of what I've been up to the past 2 weeks!
To preface, I'm definitely more of an East Coast Beast Coast type of woman, but goddamn those California beaches are breathtaking, especially Santa Monica and Malibu. I might love them the slightest bit more than Miami (and I still dream of South Beach).
We also participated the picket line for the WGA/SAG strike to show solidarity! Non-union members can join the protests outside of the various studios in LA, there's info on the union websites (WGA seems to have a more consistent picketing schedule on their website, but since both unions are striking together, they overlap anyway). They have plenty of signs there to borrow, so you don't have to make your own or anything lol. I highly encourage anyone in the area who feels strongly about workers' rights and wants to raise hell over AI to go!
Back to the touristy, vacation stuff, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is worth going to if you're especially passionate about film or television. I nearly fell over getting a photo of Bela Lugosi's star because it's literally on a corner, so I was getting ready to cross the street when I noticed it beneath my feet as the walk sign changed. The Chinese Theater is also there, and the Hollywood Museum is a fun, kitschy and kind-of low budget attraction that I feel is an essential stop for classic Hollywood fans. Otherwise, it gave major Times Square energy, so if you're not big on tourist traps and crowded sidewalks, you could skip it.
We were in town while John Waters was getting his star on the Walk of Fame, which was so exciting! The Academy Museum also opened an exhibit on John Waters' films that runs through next August and they still had their exhibit on The Godfather's 50th anniversary open. I'm going to post my photos from The Godfather exhibit on my sideblog @lostloveletters (needless to say, between the two exhibits, I spent so much money in that museum's gift shop oh my god).
Also, we went to Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign, though the Observatory felt the most like a pilgrimage of anything we did. Besides the bust of James Dean (a questionable likeness, to be honest) outside the building, there wasn't much acknowledging Rebel Without a Cause since it's a science museum, after all. A lot of Star Trek merch in the gift shop, though.
I'd like to visit LA again! It's such a big city and so spread out, I felt like there was a lot we didn't have time to do despite being there for so long. It's unfortunately near impossible to get around without a car, so we had to take a lot of rideshares when walking wasn't an option. That's something that definitely makes me prefer the East Coast over the West Coast. New York, Boston, and DC just have more expansive public transit systems that's severely lacking in LA, and those are far from perfect, too. The only times I've used rideshares in my many visits to New York were to get to and from the airport, and even then I try to take taxis.
I got in late last night, so there's probably a lot I'm forgetting!
