Using this as an opportunity to promote @wittyy-name ’s fic The Marks We Make. I’m on the final chapter rn and FUCK IT’S SO GOOD.

Summary:

Lance McClain constantly dreams of the day he'll finally meet his mysterious soulmate. They don't say much, if anything at all, but they leave him with gorgeous paintings temporarily tattooing his skin. It's not exactly the situation he hoped for, but when he feels the connection between them, he can't bring himself to resent them. As much as he wishes his soulmate would just talk to him, he's resigned himself to being patient. In the meantime, he has a loving family and good friends to help him get by.

Keith Kogane dreads the day he'll finally meet his obnoxious soulmate. He's just an art student who's struggling to find his place in the world. There's so much he hasn't been able to control in his life, and the thought of having a soulmate, just another thing in his life which he also has no control over yet can't do anything about, is a little terrifying. So he ignores the words that occasionally appear on his skin. He has other things to focus on: like being a new student at a big university where his childhood friend and step-brother go.

welcome to the twentieth fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics. 

1. for we are the beautiful thieves by @caimani-ao3

Keith and Lance go undercover (sort of) at General Iverson's gala to steal back an Altean artifact the general stole while treasure-hunting. Keith's job? Sneaking away in the middle of the party to find the artifact. Lance's job? Looking pretty in a dress.

love love LOVE adventure fics this shit ROCKS. voltron?? thief archeologists whose main goal is to steal artefacts from rich asshole collectors and return them to where they came from?? iconique!! klance playing the pretty distrction?? iconique moreso!! 

2. ring my bell by @dumdum692 [EXPLICIT]

And granted, Keith has always been a sore spot for him in this way; Lance has always felt at odds with his domesticated temperament, and Keith holds absolutely none of that. Keith doesn't give two whopping shits about getting pimples, or if Stacy in English class thinks he has bad breath. Keith isn't standing zombie-eyed in the purple lights of a party, plotting woe-is-me narratives of his own melancholia and loneliness, gazing detachedly into a red Solo cup full of jungle juice - he just is, and that's always made Lance, in equal parts, devastatingly embarrassed and devastatingly horny.

Sadly, this scale weights significantly more towards the horny end as of late, because Keith is developing quite a few, very distinctly Galra characteristics, and it's driving Lance absolutely buck fucking nuts.

this fic is a proud truther of two important things: a) lance’s type is literally anyone who can kick his ass and look good doing it, and b) lance has a big vocabulary entirely so he can be as melodramatic as possible whenever he so pleases. and i for one am thankful for its service.

3. Cross My Path by @wittyy-name [EXPLICIT]

Lance owns a witch themed cat cafe that rescues black cats. Each one has a unique collar and color coded name to help tell them apart. He's not supposed to play favorites, but he's already adopted his favorite, Red, as his own. Cold and distant to everyone, Red is extremely affectionate to Lance. Needy. Clingy. Protective. But Lance doesn't mind. He makes Lance's home a little less lonely. He's a little weird, but aren't all cats? He loves his baby boy, and he's eternally grateful for the day that little black fluff ball crossed his path.

Lance doesn't think twice about Red's odd quirks. That is, until he wakes up with a naked stranger in his bed.

And hey! Turns out Red is actually a witch named Keith who's been cursed to be a cat for twenty years. A really hot witch who's still very affectionate towards Lance.

any fic that’s tagged with catboy keith is a winner in my book tbh. and this fic is AMAZING the entire concept is unbelievably cool and the storyline is adorable!! also healthy relationship boundaries and expectations for the win!! plus rough sex also!!

Keith couldn’t feel his legs. Upon further realization, he couldn’t feel his arms either, or his hands. He could, however, feel Lance’s hands, and they were all over him, running up and down his chest in inspection, tilting his chin this way and that, pulling him up from the floor where he figured he’d landed probably because his knees had just given out on him.

“Stupid,” he heard Lance say. “You blew out your legs.”

those 2016 fics man!! they never miss they just dont!! insane to me that this author apologises for being ooc as if their portrayal of keith is not the most in character portrayal possibly ever lol. AND this fic has oldest child lance my beloved

Despite the cheery innocence in her voice, Keith can see that familiar spark in her eyes. A trickle of nauseating anticipation snakes down his spine. “Only this time, you’re going to hold hands.”

I haven't got any! But it's not really that bad, to be honest. It's just life. But I wrote some more! I got a start on it! I've been inspired, I'll say, by the work of @maychorian, @binart, and @wittyy-name.

Enjoy a snippet at the start the not–yet–whump fic—

Streaks of light against the black. Bright, bright light. Lance closed his eyes, just for a moment. But no; the light was still burnt into his vision. And when he opened them again, it was all just the same: swarms of Galra fighters surrounding them, inconceivably dense.

So if you know wittyy-name and zizzani fanfic shadow of the past and ghost of the future same time switch concept but different

It's not a time switch it's a dimension switch (it's a season 4 divergent?) the last thing that happens is meeting Lotor...or is it?

And the switch is from the world from the show to one where the gang is in a home of delinquents

That's right they are a bunch of hell raisers, well except for hunk he just followed Lance in.

Shiro is their live in counselor

And this delinquent home is funded by Allura in one of her many humanitarian projects.

Coran is the bus driver/delivery/if you need outside help he's the one to call. Why?

Because the house is in the middle of nowhere, and treated more like a camp than anything.

Keith is an Arsonist that burned down a building

Pidge is hacker who helped him get into that building

Lance nearly killed someone

Hunk helped drive the victim to the hospital

There's reasons why each of them did these things you can even change the reasons if you please

But the only thing that should start the same is pidge and Keith are friends and hunk and Lance are too

Keith and shiro are still brothers but because his family adopted Keith though he left Keith behind to pursue his career and left in a messy fight.

There is no aliens in this universe but there's still a kind of magic.

There are soulmate connections here.

They appear as glowing color when skin touches skin, though it's not just romantic there's also platonic/familial connections

So if Lance were to touch hunk the color will come out blue, if he were to touch a stranger nothing would happen. If he were to touch Keith it would turn purple.

Mixing colors is romantic, your color is platonic

Your color will pop up on your friend if you touch your own arm while thinking of them, but if you aren't thinking of anyone your automatically going to talk to your soulmate.

It doesn't last forever just as long as your in contact.

Also you can break the connection, however it's very painful and leaves actual scars

But if you were to truly reject your soulmate and you were to agree with it then you start to cry

But these aren't normal tears, they look like stars falling down your cheeks. And it burns like acid.

You can't melt your face off but you will be branded with a black mark where your tears fell the most

So the one who 'switch places' is Lance.

TW: major character death and mentions of sui

You can take this out if it makes you uncomfortable but the thing is the reason why they switched is because they both died at the same time.

There is another variable but I'll only tell the writer what it is!

Of course they were rescued in time to live but they did die in the medical sense for a few minutes.

Voltrons Lance, VLance, was killed by Shiro (or was he?) And woke up in a hospital bed on earth.

The Lance of this dimension was rescued after an attempt.

And everyone is shocked when he's awake.

Not because he survived, but he's nothing like their Lance. So happy and goofy and talks to everyone like they're friends.

Which is weird because they hate each other.

Even Hunk is considered barely an acquaintance.

So Lance who considers these people his family plans to fix that, while trying to find a way to get back home.

The thing is, is there really a home to go back to, or is this all in his head?

You have full range to change what you please but there's just a few things I ask to keep.

One is to keep the soulmates stuff, doesn't have to be the same thing just soul mates

The future pairings are Klance, Shiro matt, shay hunk are already a couple.

I had someone with pidge but it was just an oc that is only ever mentioned in the background (an android in the Voltron universe) so that can be scrapped if thou pleases

Lotor is there to cause a wedge between Lance and Keith. Like Lance Lotor is also bi. The two of them actually like each other, and bond over their shared interest in Allura.

It's not a ruse Lotor legit just likes Lance.

And last but definitely not least

The title, if you don't mind, can it be Astronutcase?

I find that digital sketches/drawings is much more of a back seat hobby nowadays, but I do have the occasional drive to sit down and work on something. This one has been sitting in a WIP folder for a long time and it’s not the cleanest but hey, it was fun to do. So have one for the road folks.

Largely inspired by @wittyy-name choose ur own adventure fic and decked out in an outfit from a super pretty manga, Akagami no Shirayukihime.

Lance and his friends have been regulars at the Altea Dance Studio for years. Not just for classes, but to hang out, practice, and spend time with good people who love dancing. Every year, they audition to be one of the few representing Altea at the regional dance competition. Lance always auditions solo, but this year he misses out on auditions and blows his chance to participate. And so does his self-proclaimed rival, Keith. Luckily, Shiro comes up with a brilliant plan: convince Lance and Keith to audition as a duo. With a little convincing, and a lot of effort, these two might just be able to pull it off and go to regionals... or they might crash and burn.

14yo Petey was completely obsessed with Dragonriders of Pern, so grown up Petey was very excited to discover there's a klance au for it!

Bronzerider Keith and Bluerider Lance w/ their dragons Red and Blue, who, thankfully, are far more self-aware than their riders. From @wittyy-name amazing klance au, Tilting Skies (rated Explicit, so please mind the tags guys).

I like to think all the dragons of Pern are not just the same design different color/size, but all unique. I think it's suggested in the books that dragons of different colors have different body types and strengths. I see Blue as a water dragon, so I tried to bring in elements of the ocean into her. Red is very much a powerful fire dragon.

welcome to the thirty-second fic rec friday! where, on friday, i rec five of my favourite fics.

1. A Dragon’s Treasure by @wittyy-name

As heir to the kingdom, Lance always thought he knew exactly what life had in store for him. That is, until a dragon kidnaps him at the age of sixteen. Suddenly his life is a lot less parties, lessons, and castles, and a hell of a lot more barren mountains, grumpy dragons, and boredom. From heir to prize, in just one night.

So now he’s stuck living in a cave with an adolescent, grumpy dragon who doesn’t seem to want him there but still won’t let him go. Not to mention his annoying habit of defeating every suitor who tries to come rescue Lance.

As much as he hates to admit it, he’s probably going to be here for a while. So he might as well settle in and get to know this dragon named Keith.

i accidentally lied last week this one is the last one from my rereadables collection. and for good reason!! dragon beauty and the beast tbh. and wittyy-name ALWAYS nails the complicated i-love-you-and-feel-trapped-by-you, complicated relationships kind of thing. and i fckn love it so so much 

2. Needle and Thread by VulpesVulpes713

Based on the prompt "kisses meant to distract the other person from whatever they were intently doing ". Keith tries to fix a tear in his jacket. Lance just wants some attention. The end result? Feelings.

this one is so cute they are so in love u know?? they just like to be around each other. always a fun read. vulpes is very good at klance with a crush on each other regardless of whether they’re already dating lol

3. Plans Are Overrated, Anyway by @chyeahlex16

"Lance, I-" "I know, I know," Lance said as he bustled around his nearly bare bedroom, tossing shirts out of drawers and pictures off of walls into his open suitcase on his bed. "I totally procrastinated till the last minute, just like you said! I don't need to hear the 'I told you so,' a little help packing would be nice!" "Lance-" "I bet you're already packed," he went on, oblivious to his best friend anxiously shifting in his doorway in frustration and anxiety. "Man, I can't wait until we get there-" "Lance! I have something to tell you!" Lance blinked, stilling his movements. He'd never seen his best friend so... guilty and anxious before. His brows pulled together in concern. "What's up, buddy?" "I'm not going to the Garrison with you." ~ In which I project onto Lance about things that I'm currently going through because I need to vent lol

HUNK AND LANCE HUNK AND LANCE HUNK AND LANCE. we do NOT have enough of it in this here fandom, ESPECIALLY prekerb, early relationship, and what a shame! i have always loved this fic’s exploration of their relationship and the ways they had to learn to grow into themselves, the starts and explanations for the way they were when we saw them. i love them

4. With These Hands by @azapofinspiration

Despite all the trouble they'd been through, Hunk figured everything had turned out all right. After all, he and Lance had managed to return to the castle!

Then Hunk sees the bruises and knows that things are not as good as he thought.

bro a-zap has always KILLED early season dynamics and their missing moments series is everything!! ive always needs three hundred percent more context on the mermaid episode and this fic provides not only that but also some excellent hunk & lance moments, with hurt/comfort that isnt imbalanced or infantilizing on either paladin’s part which is a low bar but awesome anyway 

5. Not As Clueless by @azapofinspiration

Pidge had always thought it was strange that despite being quite observant, Lance had completely missed the fact that she was a girl. However, it seems that that wasn’t really the case.

from the same series i just mentioned! lance IS observant, thank you very much, and i loved this take and interpretation. as much as lance does have a tendency to be dense about things, he also tends to be very observant bc hes a walking dichotomy. he notices things but his conclusions are often different than what others would make, and this entire concept is nailed in like 1.5k words
