"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive." - James Baldwin

Superior Subgenre: Race Satire by WOC
Here are my recommendations for satirical contemporary books by women of colour about racial fetishization and white neoliberals. Highly recommend these three books if you want to laugh, introspect, and marinate on how American society and institutions are being cooked by the culture war.

All you so called Dark academia snobs rly need to get over yourselves. It’s whatever you want it to be! Learning can be done through all different avenues, not solely a private institution that your mommies and daddies pay for. This discourse is literally just another way to gatekeep something positive from minority groups. You DO NOT need a degree to enjoy or be apart of the dark academia aesthetic. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! Words mean in relation to other words and according to culture and don’t need to be so strict and pretentious. Most of the books and media you all glorify are rooted in racism, xenophobia, elitism and a world of other unjustifiable institutions so pls save me the spiel. If I get a dark academia “vibe” from a fucking rock then so be it! It evokes thought, it makes me consider the scientific reasoning for its shape, color and whatever the hell else I’m curious about. It doesn’t need to be a book from 17th century England that doesn’t relate to me at all.
