People who try to defend and help the working poor are not whiners. They are called Democrats because maybe we’ve got just a little more heart when it comes to these matters. Higher minimum wages stimulate the economy because when you don’t have much to spend it’s not like you can save for a rainy day. People having to work 2 and 3 jobs leads to more health problems. It’s all a vicious circle. Was für ein Tag!

Guten Morgen ihr Lieben! Ist das nicht ein toller Tag!? Ich bin jetzt schon hin und weg von diesem Tag! Herrlich! Heute Morgen war ich Joggen und das hat mir ungemein Energie gegeben! Es war Nebelig, mystisch und ruhig! Ich war wiedrr ganz allein auf der Strasse und ich habe meine kleine aber feine Strecke ungemein genossen. Ich war wie bereits erwähnt allain, kein Auto, kein Mensch oder Tier, nichts. Nur ich. Bereits als ich aus dem Haus kam pfiff ein einsamer Vogel seine Freunde wach und um so länger ich joggte, um so mehr Vögel waren es! Es war toll! Wunderschön und befreiend! Heute konnte ich am Schluss sogar noch einen kleinen Endspurt einlegen. Nun weiss ich das ich bereit bin nächste Woche meine Strecke zu verlängern und ich freu mich schon riesig darauf! Ende dieser Woche möchte ich wiedermal meine Umfänge und mein Gewicht messen! Ich bin sehr gespannt. Ich bin ziemlich überzeugt das ich wieder etwas zugelegt habe in der Zeit als ich nichts gemacht habe, aber ich glaube auch, das ich diese Wocge wieder Fortschritte gemacht habe. Da ich letzte Woche nur kurz meinen Bauchumfang gemessen habe, habe ich einen kleinen Anhaltspunkt und ich bin wirklich Neugierig! Wie ich am Montag ausführlicher erzähle wird es am Samstag ein neues Tatzoo geben. Ich freu mich ,wie gestern noch mal erwähnt, schon riesig darauf! Ich werde von Tag zu Tag nervöser! Ich habe bereits meine Entwürfe gespeichert und Druck bereit! Zwei Freundinnen werden mich begleiten und meine Hand halten. Nun, so schlimm wie mein Fuss Tattoo, wird nie wieder ein Termin sein. Das beruhigt! Natürlich freu ich mich auch darauf mit den Ladys zu Frühstücken! Dieses Wochenende wird toll! Habt ihr auch schon Pläne? Ich auf jeden Fall will das diese Woche so schnell wie möglich vorbei geht. Darum werde ich mich voll in die Arbeit knien. So wird die Zeit wie im Flug vergehen! Und ich freu mich jetzt schon darauf am Freitag wieder zu Joggen. Vielleicht kann ich einen längeren Endspurt einlegen!? Ich freu mich heute alles zu geben und hoffe ihr auch! It's been a while since I last posted but this time I'm trying to be more consistent with my posts! Today was a pretty chill day as the only things I did was attending school,then I lazed for a bit and went down for some fresh air and at night I'm completing notes for political science! CRITIQUE DISCUSSIONS

Strong sense of humour in the drawings overall, but a slight mismatch in the styles in the sense that there is different work that is being done by each one. Consider how the drawing set could be made more cohesive. Think about how to cross the sense of humour with a drawing that follows the more formal and traditional rules of spatial drawing.

Opportunity to use some of the interesting spaghetti forms in the utensil design. At the moment there is the long-handle aspect going on, the idea of it reaching out over the space to touch someone else. Is there another form or set of forms that I might work with to make that fork more distinctive?

Consider what material it would be made of in the real fact. 

Blurb page - add background image or drawing to help offset the amount of text. Or consider centering the text rather than off to the left. Lucy: some of it could be useful to intersperse as captions further into the document.

Happy Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day is very special, as we celebrate the first anniversary of our organization and the movement of Women of Color Golf (WOCG). This organization was inspired by my mother (Doris Ross Reddick), the first black woman to chair the Hillsborough County School Board in Tampa, Florida and my grandmother, Clemmie Ross James, who fought for equal pay for black teachers during the Jim Crow Era and who willingly (or unwillingly), waived her Florida Teacher’s Retirement pension, to obtain a “teaching job”, to educate black children in 1939.

All of their lives, these two women fought for civil rights, equal wages and desegregation of schools in the South. They demonstrated a love for God, the passion for education, dedication to charity, truth and loving kindness. They possessed a strength that surpasses all understanding. Their noble principles were: “It was a privilege to help others, and all things were possible to achieve through faith”.

They are women who believed in social responsibly and participated in community and civic organizations such as the Eastern Star, the NAACP, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Voter registration drives and numerous Unions, to support the empowerment and advancement of people of color, so we could have a brighter future than our ancestors.

In Hillsborough County, they are the only African American mother and daughter, with area schools which bear their names; Doris Ross Reddick Elementary and Clemmie Ross James Elementary.

Golf is a sport where African American’s were once denied the opportunity to play.  My mother and grandmother were denied this experience. WOCG will provide the next generation of golfer’s the exposure and opportunity to learn the benefits and value of playing this magnificent sport.

As a young black female, witnessing the impact one person can make in our society, I was compelled by these two remarkable women to be a catalyst for change in the golf industry. The mission of WOCG is to encourage minority women and girls to learn to play recreational golf. In the 21st Century, golf will be a “necessary” business skill to level the playing field globally, in a rapidly changing world.

The WOCG Golf Academy is located at Roger’s Park Golf Course, the historical black golf course in Tampa, Florida.  It is not your traditional “brick and mortar” school, but it is a “classroom without walls”, where some of life’s best lessons are creating a “greener future” for minority women and girls.
