six fanarts thingy I did this spring

was a lot of fun, but also took some time as i began to worry more and more about composition and style consistency with each next drawing

(text on pictures is in Ukrainian as i am from, well, Ukraine :D)

out of all of them i like how Snuffkin turned out the most, whole thing got some soul idk, i think it’s the smoke x)

also 10th gave me a bit of trouble and i ended up redrawing him from scratch one time, but i like how he turned out in the end (David Tennant’s a bit triky to draw xd)

I watched another french movie :) This one is called Princesse Dragon. It's a simple and sweet fairytale told very beautifully. Every frame is like a painting. The set-up with two girls, a blonde one from the city and a wild one from the forest, reminded me of Wolfwalkers (which is also a great movie). The friendship between them is adorable. I like that Bristle (the dragon girl) has a rounder face than regular humans, it kinda reminds me of Moomins. And I love that she doesn't talk much, not used to human speech, but princess and her mother accept her semi-verbalness. Anyway, I definitely recommend this movie 💖

MOOMIN - WOLFWALKERS AU (based on C3′s post)

FINALLY. I have done the references ksjdfhs

I tried to color them but I still can’t find a good brush to do lineart with... I’ll figure that out later.  Anyway here’s everyone’s designs in their normal form and wolf one. A rough summary of the AU under the read more!

Longing once more for a brand new adventure, Moominpappa chooses to move  from England to Kilkenny, Ireland, taking on the position as a wolf hunter in a settlement on the outskirts of a grand forest. However, Moominmamma, too attached to her home, refuses to leave England. After lots of discussion, their son Moomintroll decides to follow his father to Ireland with the hopes of having the adventure of a lifetime as a hunter’s apprentice. However, soon after arriving at the settlement, Moomintroll begins to question of leaving England was the right decision. It is not long after that, one day, while sneaking out into the forest, the young troll comes across two peculiar siblings that walk during the day in humanoid form, and roam the forest at night in the shape of wolves.

Moomin's been having terrible nightmares every night this fall. Visions of Snufkin wandering in a vast, bleak, snowy wonderland, smiling and traveling as he normally does. Except this time, he's being stalked by some kind of beast. A branch snaps, Snufkin runs, only he's not fast enough. But just as a gray, snarling blur pounces on the mumrik, Moomin wakes up with no idea if Snufkin makes it or not.

He tries to tell Snufkin not to go this winter. He recounts his dreams, and states they feel more like premonitions, but of course Snufkin insists he's worrying for nothing. "I've been out plenty of times before, Moomintroll. I know how to take care of myself." He gives Moomin his harmonica to show that he fully intends to come back; something he hadn't done since they were children.

Winter comes, and Moomin tries to tell himself that everything is fine as he settles down for hibernation. But the dreams don't stop. Every time he closes his eyes and tries to rest he sees Snufkin walking amidst the snow, and that dangerous, snarling blur of a beast right behind.

Restless, he heads out, following Snufkin at a distance. He needs to make sure Snufkin is all right. He can't stand these dreams anymore; he needs to see Snufkin make it. He needs to protect him from whatever this beast is.

Nothing happens the first week. Moomin survives on snowy pine needles and the occasional fish that he can catch underneath the ice. Just when he starts to believe that he was worrying for nothing and considers heading back, he feels every strand of fur on his body stand on end.

This is it. The exact clearing of trees he sees in his dream. The knotting bark at waist height, the overhead twisting branches that look more like thorny vines, and thick snow covering every inch of the world. Moomin keeps his ears alert, his heart steady in his chest as he follows; watching, waiting, daring anything to come and harm his dearest friend.

He's not sure how long he's like this. He notices he switched to crouching, padding on all fours as he sniffs the air, his ears swiveling at every change in sound. His eyes never leave Snufkin, waiting for that small, carefree smile to change into a panicked frown. Ready to intervene.

A branch snaps. Snufkin turns towards the sound. Moomin bares his teeth. Snufkin runs, and Moomin chases. The gray blur is right there, coming from the other side, his snarls rippling along the blanket of snow.

As fast as he's running, Moomin can finally see what the beast is. A wolf; gaunt, with bloodshot eyes and a foaming mouth. Moomin lets a growl of his own erupt from his chest as he bounds forwards, his claws retracting just in time for him to slash at the wolf's throat.

A pathetic, high-pitched whine echoes into the sky as the wolf stops, crouching low as it turned its attention to Moomin now. Blood drips from its neck, the warm droplets sinking deep into the snow as it growls again, sizing up its new enemy.

Moomin matches the wolf's stance, snapping his teeth and snarling in turn. When he sees the wolf's tail twitch, he lets out a low, forceful growl. "Leave."

The wolf lowers itself even closer to the ground for a moment, staring at Moomin before turning and running as fast as it could away, red droplets following it.

Moomin stays standing, ready to fight, a continuous, low growl vibrating out from his chest and throat in case there were any other wolves around.

"Moomintroll...?"

A soft voice makes him stop his verbal warning, and he realizes just how hard he's breathing. He turns, seeing Snufkin's pale face and wide eyes in the center of his vision.

"Moomintroll, is that you?" Tears formed in the corners of his eyes as he ran over, placing a paw on Moomin's cheek. "What happened to you?"

Moomin creased his eyebrows together, leaning into Snufkin's hand. "I had to protect you."

Snufkin's breath hitches, his jaw snapping shut. He grips the back of Moomin's neck gently, whispering, "Follow me," before rushing off the current path and through the trees.

Moomin keeps up easily on all fours, his heart still pounding steadily in his chest as if he expected more danger to come. He managed to stop his initial vision, but who's to say there weren't more wolves out this winter?

Snufkin starts to slow down as they approach a wide river that's only halfway frozen over. He stops at the bank, waiting for Moomin to catch up to him before he points at the ice. "Look at yourself."

Moomin tilts his head, confused. He pads forward, peering over the edge of the river to get a look of himself in the ice only to be met with a stranger.

Someone with thick, bushy fur around the neck, and cheeks thin enough for their jaw bone to be seen. Even the snout was a bit thinner, the tip coming to a dull point instead of a soft roundness.

"Move a little closer," Snufkin whispers. "Look at your arms."

Moomin shuffles forward, gasping when he got a good look at the stranger's front legs. Pointed elbows, slightly bent to make it easier to run. Thin forelimbs, with thick paws and even thicker claws digging harshly into the snow.

He lets out a yip, retreating from the river before looking at Snufkin, his heart beating so fast he starts to pant.

Snufkin's jaw was tense, his paws gripping his backpack straps tight enough to turn his knuckles as white as the snow. Tears still clung to the edge of his eyes, his mouth opening just enough for quiet words to enter the air before dying in the vast forest.

"You've gone feral."
