You will never make me feel bad for not giving a shit about this asshole.
He’s destroyed lives. He will happily destroy more, if given the chance.
You know things are bad when even most Republicans and Kentucky voters consider him a sad ghoul with no soul.
He was just useful. For a while.
Now he is not? They will drop him quicker than a red-headed step child.

i am so happy for the increase of people like Clarisse La Rue in the new show (and im ignoring the people who don't like her) (also, i have not watched the show yet, in support of Palestine's boycott against Disney+ and am currently too sick to figure out the safest way to 🏴‍☠️) because she is such a good character and i would cry for a well-written book/fanfic series from her pov
like. she truly is the epitome of "my dad is the worst man alive and i am his favorite daughter" and i super respect the decision that this adaptation has towards going towards the whole "in my version, Clarisse will never win her father's approval because she isn't his son" sentiment. not to mention, the decision to couple that by having her be cast as a person of color in addition to her pre-existing character having been someone who has been frantically trying find the opportunity to prove herself, being indirectly one-upped by white boy Percy coming into camp day 1 having fought a minotaur. the intersectionality of her misdirected fury is impeccable. fantastic, no notes
but im also just psyched for her and Chris Rodriguez and i really wish they had more focus in the books. because they are as fantastically amazing as all the other S-tier ships in the series. i think they could even rival Percabeth (notice: i didn't say "could beat", i said "could RIVAL", no Percabeth fans send me hate), honestly, if Clarisse/Chris had been given a chance to somehow be of focus. because you're telling me angry, overlooked Daddy Issues(TM) Clarisse gets to find love with Chris "calm and patient while caring greatly for Clarisse" Rodriguez? the son of Hermes who said "fuck Camp Halfblood, fuck these gods" and went to Kronos and Luke's side? who went into the labryrinth and was driven to insanity? by King Minos himself? who Clarisse was so gentle and sympathetic for, even when others thought he might be a lost cause? even when others debated even helping him because he was "the enemy"? who, after Dionysus (and lets be honest, also Clarisse, because she was his caretaker until he could be brought to Dionysus) cured Chris of his insanity, this guy saw what a catch Clarisse was to have in your life, seeing her as someone sweet and loving (because she can be! she is!!), that who she is as a person single-handedly conVINCED HIM TO LEAVE KRONOS' SIDE AND COME BACK TO CAMP??? SO HE COULD BE HAVE A CHANCE TO BE WITH HER??
their love is so iconic. and that's just the one big moment we get from their story; im so sure there is more that we dont get to see all due to them not being focused on in the story. im so glad theyre still together and so in love. its what Clarisse deserves. i hope the show shines a light on how powerful their love is too. Chris fixes none of Clarisse's tragic father-induced issues, but it helps to remember that at least she has Chris, and im so glad she does. Clarisse is a warrior that deserved a great love-story

Grief is a very odd thing. Today was a good day - I won an award that'll help me out with the remainder of grad school, and I'm happy! I am blessed to have loved ones who support me through my endeavors. But it's sometimes in those moments of celebration that grief rears its head, and the absence of someone you love becomes more glaring. Someone told me that grief is love with no place to go, and that has stuck with me.
Today was a good day, and I will work to use the award I received to further my goals and help others. I'm so thankful for my family and friends! And although she's not here anymore, I know my mom is proud. I can't call her anymore, but I can still strive to make her proud.

Mini “Should I consider whether I may actually have ADHD?” masterpost:
“The lost girls: ‘Chaotic and curious, women with ADHD all have missed red flags that haunt us’ ” by Noelle Faulkner for The Guardian
“The Lost Girls of ADHD: Getting diagnosed as an adult hasn’t been the relief I thought it would be” by Kara Eva Schlegl for Human Thoughts
“ADHD Is Different for Women” by Maria Yagoda for The Atlantic
“Failing at Normal: An ADHD Success Story” by Jessica McCabe for TEDx
“Should You Be Assessed for ADHD?” by Dr Stephen Humphries for Harley Therapy
Bonus: “The Results of My Brain Scan” by Laura Clery
There are a growing number of similar articles and resources that you can easily look up now, but the above list, starting with the first article (shared by a woman of colour friend with ADHD), is how I dove headfirst into a rabbit hole in January 2021 that's become a years-long journey.
I grew out of my selective mutism and into an incredibly organised student as a teenager, but my productivity and focus quickly went downhill halfway through twelfth grade before I took my IALs.
The first time I considered having ADHD was in August 2019, during my freshman year in university. After a friend (who grew up with far more prominent mental health struggles, including depression and anxiety that affected her grades) shut me down saying I was probably just “demotivated” instead, I quickly dispelled the thought. I didn’t want to be yet another neurotypical person trying to use mental health issues as an excuse for my laziness. I grew up with crippling, alienating social anxiety, and it had gotten worse with my move to the US for university—I wondered if I might have autism; I had always been so different from other kids. But I didn’t get a high probability on the free quizzes on the internet, and that had been the end of that.
I didn’t know at the time what masking was, and how ADHD and autism symptoms can overlap—how the two are often mistaken for one another. I didn’t know that ADHD can present differently in women and people of colour because of the environment we grow up in, and because of how we have been excluded from medical research from the moment of its discovery.
In Bangladesh, we’re expected to grow out of our neurodivergence, which is euphemised as personality quirks. There is a great stigma around having children with disabilities, and around mental healthcare in general, so parents often live in denial about their neurodivergent children. There is a very stereotypical view of how a child or adult with autism is supposed to appear, and about the occasional “hyper little boys” that will usually grow up to become quiet, calm, mature and shy. Girls are raised in an extremely regulated, structured environment with high expectations. We begin developing masking skills from the moment we develop a sense of gender.
If you are struggling to understand yourself, look up your symptoms. Do a deep dive. Ask your friends—multiple friends. Trust your instincts. Be patient and forgiving of yourself. There is so much more dimension to mental health and neurodivergence that may not be well-known within your community. There is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise.

Some healthcare advice for my lovely ladies here..
I was just reading this New York Times article about how women of color experience Perimenopause and Menopause differently from the conventionally established standards according to the White Race.
Tumblr media
Clearly, women from different races have very different experiences, duration, and intensity of symptoms. Just a gentle reminder to all my wonderful women here: do not ignore what your body tells you. Healthcare systems are biased to ignore women's pain, doctors have limited understanding of our anatomies, and these issues are far worse when we account race into the equation as well. Speak up if your doctor doesn't take you seriously.
Also, always remember to get scanned for breast and cervical cancers. Keep an eye out for anything unusual. Love y'all! ❤️
The article is behind a paywall. Please message me if you want to read the whole article!

I've never understood why human beings have periods and we have to just. do our normal things as if they aren't happening? like if someone without a uterus was like "ah I'm feeling really nauseus and sick, I'm having full body aches and pains and I think my blood sugar/iron levels have crashed" then they would be sent home. or would stay home. for being sick. but like oh right it's just because of ur woman parts?? nah that's not that bad keep going to work homie

A lot of black men are okay with colorism or excuse it because it’s not a big deal to them . But when we bring race into it we understand how it affects someone .

Rest!!!
Sleep is one of the most if not the most important part of self improvement. Resting your body and mind is important for growth, and being open for growing. The list is kind of short right now, but when I find and test more things that work I will update and add onto this list! That being said , here are some habits that I have been exercising that have helped me have a more rejuvenating sleep.
Tumblr media
1. Waking up at a set time! Falling asleep "on time" can be very challenging for people with sleeping problems like insomnia. Doing this will over time regulate your body to get tired at a time suitable for it to get enough rest! While doing this you will feel very fatigued for a week or so until everything settles down, and you might need to take a nap. That is alright! Its ok to take naps during the day.
2. Putting away your phone for at least 45 minutes before going to bed. This is pretty self explanatory. Phones can be very distracting, and not only that but it can keep you up later then usual. I know its hard to get there, so start off slow like no phone 20 minutes before bed time, or after a certain time in the night like 9 or 10 pm.
3. Drinking tea or warm water. Getting cozy and hydrated can leave you feeling comfortable and ready to sleep! This isn't a super important step, but it might help you!

Black people + colorism.
black people have become so numb to racism, that they consider colorism a preference. knowing that preference is a “favorable option”, and colorism is “favoritism towards lighter complexions”, there isn’t much of a difference if both terms are synonymous to favoritism.
“Colorism is not just the negative or oppressive experiences dark-skinned people face, it’s also the positive and privileged experiences light skinned people face. Colorism can show up as prejudicial and preferential treatment.” —colorismhealing.com
when it comes to black men having LSBW as a favorable dating partner, where does that stem from? is it solely bc it’s just a “preference” (favorable option), and nothing more than that? what’s reason behind black men having favoritism towards LSBW when it comes to relationships?
light skin is deemed as “feminine”, and dark skin is deemed as “masculine”. if DSBM view LSBW as easier, prettier, better, etc., what does that say about how they view black women who look like them? what makes black women who look like them unappealing, in comparison to fairly complexioned women? do black men only date certain black women with a specific skin tone? does it translate to marriage, or does it stop at sexual affairs?
keep in mind, men date women based on looks, because they’re visual creatures who have admiration for the beauty a woman exudes physically.
