FRANK X EDDIE!
✦ Frank and Eddie, two completely opposites in personality and even so, they make a strangely good and iconic duo. They'd say that they never see them becoming lovers but that would be a terrible lie. They were the most fruitest— pardon my french —motherfuckers in the neighborhood.
✦ Now, Frank and Eddie are both independent and secretive people. Having to live on their own for a long time caused them to become a bit recluse and prefer to do things on their own rather than trusting people to help them. It was a bit rocky at first, having to navigate the simplest things like who gets to cook for dinner and which chores would the other do, but they managed in the end.
✦ The two of them even made a timetable for what chores they'll do each day and made a promise not to get in each other's way when the other is busy.
✦ Now, Eddie was sweet, a bit too sweet for Frank's own liking. It took a while for the monotonous puppet to get used to getting random hugs and kisses throughout the day, even the short love letters stuck on the fridge with the heart magnets on them became a normal occurence for him.
As Frank put another pancake down on his lover plate, He felt a pair of large, soft arms suddenly wrapping around his waist. He shivered at the hot breath caressing his cheeks as Eddie leaned against his slender form, hiding his face in the crook of Frank's neck.
Frank sighed, smiling softly. "Good morning, Eddie." He patted his lover's hand, signalling him to let go. Eddie didn't follow and only hugged him tighter, mumbling something under his breath.
"I love you too, Eddie. But can I get my waist back?" Frank patted his hand again.
"Mm... No."
✦ Frank was never the one for physical touch. Not that he didn't like it, no, but he was too stiff, too awkward to even initiate the simplest hand-holding, so he opts for the alternative: quality time and gift-giving. Little handcrafted butterfly pins and accessories aligned Eddie's bag strap and hat; matching custom-made rings on both of their hands; and countless papers of written down date ideas filled Frank's binders— that was Frank's idea of affection and Eddie loved it.
✦ Whenever Eddie comes across someone, he'd flex all of the wonderful handmade crafts Frank made for him, flaunting the ring in front of any neighbors that tried flirting with him. It made Frank's plush heart swell, nearly punching air when Eddie refers to him as his husband.
✦ Both of Eddie and Frank are incredible fans of nature, so their dates consist of walks in the woods, picnics and such. They're always rarring to go and be one with nature just for a while, but they try not to stray too far from the town because, well, there isn't much that lies beyond their little circle.
✦ Although, when the days are getting colder or when it's almost impossible to go outside, they'd huddle up on the couch and Eddie would narrate one of Frank's or his favorite books. Sometimes, they'd watch TV but there isn't anything worth watching on it.
✦ Even though they have seperate cooking days, one of them is bound to assisting the other in cooking. Eddie would turn on the radio and have Frank indulge in a little dance break while the cookies bake in the oven.
"You look quite divine tonight," Eddie sang along the tune of the radio, holding Frank's hand in his own as he twirled him around the kitchen isle. "Here among these vibrant lights!"
Frank yelped, eyes widening for a second as Eddie dipped him, his grip on the monotonous puppet's waist was firm but gentle. Frank took a breath, smelling the vanilla and jasmine scent on Eddie's shirt as the latter pulled him up. "How charming." Frank commented, rolling his eyes.
Eddie smiled, pecking a tender kiss on the corner of Frank's lips. "I know I am." He boasted, his collars was tugged and his lips crashed on Frank's, he could taste the bittersweet chocolate he had given to his husband (Although they weren't actually married, but gays will be gays).
As they pulled away, both of them had blazing red faces, warmth seeping to their fingertips and cheeks. Frank lets go, slapping his palms on his face. "Gosh, that was so embarrassing." He groaned into his hands.
It took some time for Eddie to snap out of the kiss before wrapping his arms around Frank, grinning and swooning like a teenage girl who just had her first kiss. "Aww, I didn't know you had that in you, Frankie!!"
"Eddie, please—"
✦ Random, unprecedented thought: Eddie would definitely call Frank 'My little butterfly' and sing that song we all used to hear from our plastic barbie filp phones whenever Eddie's in a fun, little mood. The reason is, as always, up to the reader's interpretations <3
FRANK X READER X EDDIE!
✦ Eddie and Frank are new to relationships, having little to no exprience in such things and you might as well be the same. If you have some experience— especially in polyamorous relationships —then, you can bet the two of them will mostly likely turn to you when situations regarding it arise.
✦ Like any relationship, communication is key, and Eddie and Frank are more than just willing to try polyamorous a try. There isn't exactly a reason why they were drawn to you, perhaps it's because of your personality, your skills or whatee, but you caught their eye and there is no way in Satan's living quarters you're escaping them.
✦ But of course, if you aren't sure with the whole situation, they'll give you some space and time to think about it. No matter what your choice is, they'll understand you and respect your decisions. Strange since literal puppets have more decency than most humans, but oh well.
✦ They'll also walk you through their schedule. Frank does more of the talking while Eddie sometimes comments and adds a few things that Frank forgot to mention. In the end, the schedule didn't matter much since all of you put equal work and often assist each other in their chores.
✦ Sleepovers aren't uncommon, in fact it happens almost every day of the week! You guys stay at either Frank's or your house, huddled up on a bed that's conveniently large enough for all three of you. Sometimes, you guys chose to set up a cute pillow fort and sleep there in peace until one of you kicks the supporting pillow and it all crashes down on you.
✦ Frank is surprisingly a messy sleeper.
✦ You guys get to have individual dates, of course! But the guilt of leaving one of you behind consumes you just a minute before your date, so it ends up with just all three.
✦ Frank loves to flaunt off his collection to you, feeling a sense of pride swelling in his chest whenever you compliment the crafted butterflies he carefully painted and organized for many straining hours or appreciate his intensive knowledge on insects. Sometimes, you two just spend bouncing mindless information you have consumed on hours without end until something or somwone interrupts your little session.
"And this one!" Frank pointed to a page on his book, more specifically an picture of a butterfly with bright orange wings and black vein-like patterns. "This one is a monarch butterfly. Scientists calls them Danaus plexippus, which in Greek literally means "sleepy transformation." It references the species' ability to hibernate and metamorphize. It's not exactly my favorite species of butterfly, but they are interesting."
"I suppose so, yeah." You nodded, having your head supported by your hands as you leaned closer to get a better view at the image. You, then, thought deeply and nugged Frank's arm for his attention. "Say, why don't we go out to the forest and search for some? I heard from a little star that there's a hotspot for colorful butterflies."
Frank raised a brow, his interest piqued. "Hm, I suppose we can go only if we invite Eddie. He has a better sense of direction than I am so..."
You rolled your eyes playfully, knowing full well that he wanted to bring the sweet mailman along was because he feels guilty of leaving him behind. "Whatever you say, my little butterfly."
"(Name), please. Not you too."
✦ On the other hand, Eddie enjoys taking you on walks, especially on days where you're stressed and need some relaxation. He also enjoys talking with you over some good lunch, sharing his experiences with you as a mailman. Eddie is a touchy person, so he also likes to spend his time with you cuddling. He's the big spoon most of the time but he loves being little spoon, he wouldn't admit it though.
"Wait, wait, wait!" You paused Eddie's little tangent, your brain processing the story he ahd told you before he went on about the history of mailboxes. "They managed to pull out Julie's mailbox and dragged it all the way to the pond?"
Eddie chuckled, pulling you closer to his figure. You can feel vibrations coming from his chest as he laughed. "Yeah! It sounds unreal but if you take a look at the dirt near Julie's place, it looks like something was dugged up and then buried again."
"Dear lord, what kind of food are they eating?" You shivered at your own visual interpretation of the scenario. Must be distraughting for Julie and her poor mailbox.
"A dozen of eggs, at least." Eddie shrugged, his entire being melting into the sofa. At this point, you can consider him a part of it from how soft and warm his arms feel.
A moment of silence pass before you finally spoke up to break it. "Anyways, wanna be little spoon and continue your story?"
"Yes please!"

I noticed something. To the best of my (sleep deprived) recollection, I think Robin is the only major/og/classic superhero sidekick (at least in DC) to have a non-derivative identity? Think about it; Wonder Woman has Wonder Girl; Aquaman has Aqualad, Flash has Kid Flash, and Green Arrow has Speedy-- he gets points for the original name but the identity and costume are clearly derivative. (Also, kinda weird that the derivative names are all also diminutive, and Robin isn't.) You'd think he'd have been named Batboy or Batkid or Batlad or even something like Black Bat (Blue Bat?) (I also just realized why Nightwing chose blue for his original costume... Robin's egg blue... Am I slow?)
Meanwhile, aside from being a small flying creature, the Robin identity/moniker is completely different from Batman's, and doesn't even feature a suffix like his does (such as boy/man/lad/etc.) (Thank the gods we didn't end up with Robinlad.) The Robin identity stands alone, even among many major DC heroes... It needs no support or confinement from identifying information such as Woman or Man or Boy or Girl (Imagine if Superman was just The Super... Wonder Woman just The Wonder... Just Aqua... etc. Ew.) It is both unique to Dick, being his mother's nickname for him, and meant for passing on, being gender/age/etc. nonspecific.
Batman and Robin's identities/themes are also completely different... You've got the Dark Knight and the Boy Wonder. Additionally, Robin's costume doesn't have any animal elements-- it doesn't even follow Batman's theme of the costume reflecting the features and/or color palette of the animal namesake. Where's Robin's dumb little beak mask and cape cut like bird wings (Hawk & Dove anyone?) Where did the green and yellow come from? And where are Robin's pants?
So what do we get from this?
Well, from an Arthurian perspective... I really wonder why the hell Kane, Finger, and Robinson made him this way. (Does Robinson being one of the creators have anything to do with it?)
From a mixed Arthurian/Watsonian perspective, maybe Batboy/kid/lad/etc isn't intimidating enough. Unlike most heroes, one of Batman's main strategies is to inspire fear and one of his main appeals is that he's edgy and dark and brooding. But why not Blue Bat then? Why a wee little songbird? (I know they were trying to soften Batman's image by adding Robin but still, they weren't trying to make him lil songbird soft.) Why the Boy Wonder, why the goofy (but iconic) color scheme and (I ask you again) why no pants?
OKAY I WANTED TO LEAVE THAT THEORIZING IN BUT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND:
Robin is DC's first sidekick. In fact, as far as I could find, Robin is THE FIRST superhero sidekick. It's not that Robin's creators were shaking things up with their sidekick... It's that most of the creators of sidekicks with derivative identities were being lazy. RIP.
Anyway, a Watsonian perspective (because let's be honest, what we care about is the implications on story and character,) and this is where it gets good... Maybe Bruce a. didn't want Dick to turn out anything like him, and b. wanted Dick to have the opportunity to develop his own identity, not living in the shadow of The Bat. We see other sidekicks struggling with not being The Real Thing... Thinking they're never quite as good as the original, always living in the shadow of their hero. Bruce was never asking Dick to be just like him-- that's the last thing he'd want.
Bruce was never the best father, but maybe, just maybe, he got this one thing right.

☂️🍑 Y2K Peach, My Beloved 🍑☂️
jksdjksdwk Istg I need to draw other Mario girls, but I always end up drawing Peach in the end I’m just currently too obsessed with her, plz help me 🥲
Drew this as both a (belated) 18th anniversary to Super Princess Peach (damn, I can’t believe this game is the same age as me 💀), and as a (also belated) birthday gift for one of my buddies from DeviantArt, @therosypinkprincess .
We both really like Peach, so I felt like drawing her a sweet little present. I suggest you check out her art if you have the time, it’s absolutely beautiful and so pretty 💖💕
I wanted to start this before October 20th rolled around, which was the day Super Princess Peach first dropped in Japan (and coincidentally the same day Super Mario Wonder also dropped), but I was starting to get a little burned out after trying to complete a bunch of Spooktober and Blacktober art, so I had to put it on hold. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, I finally had the motivation to continue the art, with a few changes.
I love Super Princess Peach. It’s one of my favorite Nintendo DS games, and I love that Nintendo finally realized that it was time to give Peachy some justice by letting her go on a solo adventure. This time she got to save the day all by herself, and also rescued her mans this time.
Games like this, the Smash Bros. series, Mario + Rabbids, SMB2, and others prove that Peach is more than just a pretty-faced damsel, and is far from a “dumb blonde”, or an, “airhead”. She doesn’t always get kidnapped and is clearly capable of defending and taking care of herself and uses her hyper-feminity to kick ass.
It’s perfectly a-okay if you prefer other Mario ladies over her, but it bugs me so much that she’s so often just categorized as only a damsel because she’s girly, kind, empathetic, and soft-spoken.
Also greatly annoys me how often in stuff like fanart, fanfiction, and animations, she’s always made a punching bag, demonized, or made weaker to make the other ladies look better in comparison. All of that is just no 😃
And regarding Super Princess Peach, I never understood the whole, “sexist” accusations that people were calling the game all because Peach had different emotions in the game. She ain’t the only one who uses her emotions, the rest of the cast has different emotions too, but unlike them, Peach can actually control hers. So, all in all, I just personally find the whole, “sexist” claim kinda goofy ngl
Honestly speaking, I only have one gripe with this game. I wished that they did a little more with my boy Perry’s backstory, because it sadly didn’t go anywhere, and it hints that his kidnapper might be at large. Other than that, the game is still pretty solid, and it definitely holds up. Especially the music, it’s got a couple of bangers.
As you’ve guessed by the title, I wanted to go for a more Y2K feel not just aesthetic-wise, but also fashion-wise. I went on Google, and searched for a bunch of outfits from 2005, the year SPP came out. I went with this outfit I found on Google, and since it had pink in it, I definitely knew that it would be perfect for Peach. There’s also this 2005 Fashion Fever Barbie that also inspired this outfit.
And speaking of which, at the time of sketching the art, I was also watching some Y2K stuff that I grew up with to get me in the mood, and that included some CGI Barbie movies (because Barbie is such a movie icon ✨) such as The Barbie Diaries and Fairytopia. There’s also other stuff I watched like Winx Club, Totally Spies, and the Bratz TV Show.
I wanted to put her hair in pigtails, along with giving her peach fruit earrings because, well… that’s literally what she’s named after. Also included a little easter egg reference to her final smash in the Smash Bros. series if you can figure out where it is 👀
I really loved how this art turned out, though I wanted to give Peach the whole, “down-to-earth, wholesome, sweet girl-next-door” type vibes with her new outfit, with a hint of some girly pop. Kinda similar to characters like Lizzie McGuire, Betty Cooper, and Disney ladies such as Snow White and Giselle. I think I succeeded with it, both her and Perry look kawaii af ❤️
And for those of you who can't read Japanese, the text on the left side just reads, "Peach and Perry-chan!". I just put it into Google Translate, and thought that it would go well with the art.

Hey I just saw your latest post and was wondering if you could do making out with Luz hcs? Thanks Bestie!
MAKING OUT WITH LUZ NOCEDA [HEADCANNONS]
OFC, I actually had this in my drafts before you asked, thanks for the motivation to finish it!
Tumblr media
I see this girl as the type to pepper kisses all over you face, making you turn bright red.
-Her preferred way to make out is to build a pillow fort and snuggle underneath it, exchanging sweet light kisses.
-Long, passionate kisses aren’t really her style and she tends to lean towards the chaste, affectionate smooches.
-Will usually just throw an arm around your shoulder, she isn’t the full snuggle make out like Amity.
-Her preferred spots for smooching is your cheek and the bridge of your nose, but she isn’t complaining about your soft mouth at all.
-We’re all aware of her iconic, “Oh crickey.” line so you can assume she says some silly things after a more intense kiss: “I.. You taste like the griffin egg we just ate.”
-She doesn’t feel the need to lock the door since nobody will usually burst in, but King does have the tendency to push it open and join you both under the pillow fort.
-Suprise kisses are the best kisses, she doesn’t care if it’s you or her doing it.
-Her jumping on your back and placing a big “smack!” On your cheek, more of a silly kiss than a real one.

Week 6 in Singapore: Step 6 Appreciate the wonders of Singapore
Before we start this week's blog content, I would like to share with you a very tasty breakfast that I had this week. It is called Kaya toast. It is around 4 SGD for toast, two soft boiled eggs and iced coffee.
Tumblr media
This week's content is about Marina Bay Sands. One of the must-visit destination spots for anyone visiting or studying in Singapore. Marina Bay Sands is a great location to see anything. Activities range from light shows to hiking, food streets, casinos, museums, etc. My favorite part of this area was the cloud forest. The cloud forest is breathtaking and shows how Singapore was able to incorporate a verdant oasis within its bustling urban landscape. The cloud forest highlights the need to protect and preserve so many vital natural resources for future generations. I also really enjoyed the Super Trees which lit up at night and each tree is equipped with photovoltaic systems that harness solar energy to power the lighting and irrigation systems of the gardens. Here are a few pictures:
Tumblr media
Another iconic spot is the Marina Bay Sands building which is supported by 3 skyscrapers and does wonderful light shows. You walk along the river to see Singapore's iconic skyline.
Tumblr media
****SIDE NOTE: Marina Bay Sands is around 1 hour of public transport away from campus so it is important to plan ahead especially if you go in the night since public transport closes around 12.
There are so many other beautiful places in Singapore but Marina Bay really captivates how far Singapore has come in a short period and their tenacity to keep growing technologically, culturally, and sustainably!
Thanks for keeping up with me,
Ayushi Chowdhury

Chicken & Waffles
A classic Southern comfort dish that combines crispy fried chicken with fluffy waffles, often drizzled with maple syrup. Ingredients: For the Fried Chicken: - 2 pounds chicken pieces (legs, thighs, wings) - 2 cups buttermilk - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon garlic powder - 1 tablespoon onion powder - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika - Salt and black pepper to taste - Vegetable oil for frying For the Waffles: - 2 cups all-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons sugar - 1 tablespoon baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon salt - 1 3/4 cups milk - 1/3 cup vegetable oil - 2 large eggs - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Instructions: 1. Marinate the Chicken: - Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and pour buttermilk over them. Let them marinate for at least 1-2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator. 2. Preheat the Oven: - Preheat your oven to 200°F (to keep the cooked chicken warm while preparing the waffles). 3. Prepare the Dry Coating for Chicken: - In a shallow dish, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. 4. Bread the Chicken: - Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. - Take each marinated chicken piece, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off, and dredge it in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. 5. Fry the Chicken: - Fry the chicken pieces in the hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy. This usually takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of the chicken pieces. Ensure that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). 6. Keep Chicken Warm: - Place the fried chicken on a wire rack on a baking sheet and keep it warm in the preheated oven while you make the waffles. 7. Prepare the Waffle Batter: - In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. - In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. - Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay. 8. Cook the Waffles: - Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it. - Pour the batter onto the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until the waffles are golden brown and crisp. 9. Serve: - Place a crispy fried chicken piece on top of a waffle and drizzle with maple syrup. - You can add butter, hot sauce, or additional toppings according to your preference. 10. Enjoy: - Serve the chicken and waffles immediately while the chicken is still crispy and the waffles are warm. Enjoy this delicious and soulful combination of flavors and textures!
Gumbo
A rich and hearty stew originating from Louisiana, typically made with a strong-flavored stock, meat or shellfish, and vegetables such as celery, bell peppers, and onions. Ingredients: - 1 cup all-purpose flour - 1 cup vegetable oil - 1 large onion, finely chopped - 1 bell pepper, finely chopped - 2 celery stalks, finely chopped - 3 cloves garlic, minced - 1 pound andouille sausage, sliced - 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces (or 3-4 pounds of chicken thighs/drumsticks) - 8 cups chicken broth - 1 can (14 ounces) crushed tomatoes - 1 cup okra, sliced (fresh or frozen) - 1 teaspoon dried thyme - 1 bay leaf - Salt and pepper to taste - File powder (optional, for serving) - Cooked white rice for serving Instructions: - Prepare the Roux: - In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the flour and vegetable oil over medium heat. - Stir continuously to prevent burning. - Keep cooking and stirring until the roux turns a dark chocolate brown color. This process may take about 20-30 minutes. Be patient; the color of the roux is crucial for the flavor of the gumbo. - Add Vegetables: - Once the roux reaches the desired color, add the chopped onion, bell pepper, celery, and minced garlic. - Cook the vegetables in the roux until they are softened, about 5-7 minutes. - Brown the Sausage and Chicken: - Add the sliced andouille sausage to the pot and cook until it starts to brown. - Brown the chicken pieces in the roux, turning them to sear on all sides. - Add Broth and Tomatoes: - Gradually add the chicken broth to the pot, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. - Add the crushed tomatoes, dried thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. - Simmer: - Bring the gumbo to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 1 to 1.5 hours. Stir occasionally. - Add Okra: - About 30 minutes before serving, add the sliced okra to the gumbo. This helps to thicken the gumbo and adds a unique flavor. - Adjust Seasoning: - Taste the gumbo and adjust the seasoning as needed. Add more salt, pepper, or thyme if necessary. - Serve: - Remove the bay leaf before serving. - Serve the gumbo over a bed of cooked white rice. - Optionally, you can sprinkle file powder on individual servings for an extra layer of flavor. Enjoy your homemade Southern Gumbo! This dish often gets even better the next day as the flavors meld together.
Shrimp and Grits
Shrimp and grits is a classic Southern dish that combines creamy grits with savory and succulent shrimp. Ingredients: For the Grits: - 1 cup stone-ground grits - 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth - 1 cup milk - Salt and pepper to taste - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional) - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter For the Shrimp: - 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined - 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste) - 2 tablespoons olive oil - 4 cloves garlic, minced - 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved - 1/2 cup chicken broth - Juice of 1 lemon - Salt and pepper to taste - Fresh parsley for garnish Instructions: 1. Prepare the Grits: - In a medium saucepan, bring the broth and milk to a boil. - Gradually whisk in the grits, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the grits are thick and creamy. This may take about 20-25 minutes. - Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese (if using), butter, salt, and pepper. Keep warm. 2. Season and Cook the Shrimp: - In a bowl, toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, making sure they are well coated. - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. - Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until they are opaque and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside. 3. Prepare the Sauce: - In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. - Add halved cherry tomatoes and cook for another 2 minutes. - Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice, scraping the bottom of the skillet to incorporate any flavorful bits. 4. Combine Shrimp and Sauce: - Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, toss to coat them in the sauce, and let them heat through for another 2 minutes. - Season with salt and pepper to taste. 5. Serve: - Spoon a generous portion of the creamy grits onto plates. - Top the grits with the Cajun shrimp and sauce. - Garnish with fresh parsley. 6. Enjoy: - Serve immediately, and enjoy the delicious combination of creamy grits and flavorful shrimp! Feel free to customize the dish with additional ingredients like bacon, green onions, or a squeeze of extra lemon juice according to your taste preferences.
Collard Greens
Slow-cooked collard greens seasoned with smoked ham hock or bacon for a flavorful side dish that's a staple in Southern cuisine. Ingredients: - 2 bunches of collard greens - 1/2 pound smoked ham hock or bacon (optional for additional flavor) - 1 large onion, finely chopped - 3 cloves garlic, minced - 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth - 1 to 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes (adjust to taste) - Salt and black pepper to taste - 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (optional) - 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, to balance bitterness) - Hot sauce for serving Instructions: 1. Prepare the Collard Greens: - Wash the collard greens thoroughly under cold water. Remove the tough stems and ribs, then stack the leaves and chop them into bite-sized pieces. 2. Cook the Smoked Ham Hock or Bacon: - If using smoked ham hock or bacon, cook it in a large pot over medium heat until it begins to render its fat and becomes slightly crispy. 3. Sauté Onions and Garlic: - Add the finely chopped onion to the pot and sauté until it becomes translucent. - Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. 4. Season: - Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste. Adjust the heat level based on your preference. 7. Simmer: - Bring the pot to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let the collard greens simmer for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until they are tender. 8. Adjust Flavor: - Taste the collard greens and adjust the seasoning. If the collards are too bitter, you can add a tablespoon of sugar to balance the flavors. For a touch of acidity, add apple cider vinegar. 9. Join us on a journey through the wonderful world of chocolate chip cookies and discover where to savor the best in Qatar while learning the secrets to bake your own batch.
The Origin of Chocolate Chip Cookies
Before we delve into the art of baking the perfect chocolate chip cookie and discovering the best options in Qatar, let's take a moment to appreciate the cookie's humble beginnings. The first chocolate chip cookie is said to have been created by Ruth Wakefield in the 1930s. Ruth was the owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts, and she decided to add chunks of a semi-sweet chocolate bar to her cookie dough. The result? It is the iconic chocolate chip cookie that we all know and love.
Choosing the Right Ingredients
If you are looking to bake on your own, the foundation of any chocolate chip cookie lies in the quality of its ingredients. Here's what you'll need:
Butter: Unsalted butter is preferred because it allows you to control the salt content. Make sure it's softened but not melted.
Sugar: A combination of white and brown sugar adds a wonderful depth of flavor and a perfect chewiness to your cookies.
Eggs: Eggs provide structure and moisture to your cookies. Room-temperature eggs work best.
Vanilla Extract: A dash of vanilla enhances the cookie's flavor.
Flour: All-purpose flour is the standard choice, but you can experiment with different types for unique textures.
Baking Soda and Salt: These are essential for leavening and balancing flavors.
Chocolate Chips: Opt for high-quality chocolate chips or chunks. You can use dark, semi-sweet, milk, or even a combination of these for a different flavor profile.
Baking Tips and Tricks
Chill Your Dough: Let the cookie dough rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before baking. This helps the cookies hold their shape and prevents excessive spreading.
Use Parchment Paper: Line your baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup a breeze.
Evenly-Sized Cookies: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to ensure all your cookies are the same size, which ensures even baking.
The Perfect Bake Time: Baking time can vary based on your oven, but a good starting point is 10-12 minutes at 350°F (180°C). Look for cookies that are golden brown at the edges but still soft in the center.
Experiment: Don't be afraid to get creative. Add ingredients like chopped nuts, dried fruits, or different types of chocolate for a unique twist on the classic recipe.

Wingate by Wyndham Charleston: A Place to Gather
The Thanksgiving Spirit
Thanksgiving is not just about the food; it's a celebration of gratitude, family, and history. The origins date back to 1621 when the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast. This has become a symbol of cooperation and mutual respect.
The way we celebrate has evolved, but the essence remains the same. As John F. Kennedy said, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them."
So as we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, let's remember to be thankful for what we have, share with others, and indulge in our favorite dishes. In the words of the fictional character Joey from "Friends," "It's not that common, it's doesn't happen to every guy, and it is a big deal!" Yes, Thanksgiving is a big deal, and it's time to celebrate with gusto! 🦃🥧🍽️

Best Traditional Italian Thanksgiving Dinner Ideas 2022 | Appetizers, Sides, Desserts, Drinks & More
Italian Thanksgiving Dinner Ideas to Wow Your Guests
The festival honoring the Gods of Harvest (Giorno del ringraziamento) is an integral part of the culture in Italy. However, Italian expatriates living in America are not far behind in rejoicing in the tradition of Thanksgiving.
Whether a native American or an immigrant in the country, you can give a twist of taste to the Thanksgiving food in Italian fusion. This year, serve the Mediterranean-inspired turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and candied yams for a refreshing fete.
If Italian cuisine is on your mind for the coming Thanksgiving holiday, here are the best ideas to plan a delicious traditional Italian feast for your loved ones.
Tips to Plan Thanksgiving Festa with Yummy Italian Menus
You can never go wrong planning a full-course traditional feasting meal for your guests. You may take a cue from the options below. As with any Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll need all of the proper ingredients to make for an excellent feast Italian style. Appetizers, main courses, sides, and desserts are all an important part of this seasonal Holiday that much of the world enjoys celebrating.
Aperitivo (Appetizers)
The tradition of welcoming guests with beverages and some light food is a part of Italian culture. So, the dinner starts in the evening, welcoming guests with Aperitivo. This course may include champagne, white wine, spumante, or prosecco. The drinks are commonly served with nuts, stuffed green olives, or cheese cubes.
 Antipasti (Starters)
Charcuterie platter such as figs with Gorgonzola cheese filling wrapped in prosciuttos is a must for an Italian Thanksgiving starter. But if you are looking to add a few more items, here are three alternatives:
Crispy Sicilian Crocchè
Derived from the French croquette, Neapolitan cuisine’s 17th-century deep-fried street food originated in Sicily, Naples, and Campania. You can make this dish in numerous versions with mashed potatoes, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Serve the succulent cheese-stuffed Crocchè hot before the smoke evades to feel the gooey texture.
Arosticini
Arosticini is popular lamb meat skewered kebob of the Abruzzo gastronomy culture. Natives of the region relish the soft meat with bread and the local red wine- Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
It is also an ideal dish for your BBQ party in winter. This smoky-grilled antipasto is a spicy, sour, and flavorful treat for the tastebuds.
Ricotta Cheese Balls
Crispy outside and juicy inside, Ricotta cheese balls are for all occasions. Serve them with sun-dried tomato-chili sauce.
Antipasti appetizers for thanksgiving dinner in Italy.
Primi (First Course)
For the main course, traditional Italian Thanksgiving dinners usually include the same main dish as we do here in America. Turkey! Everyone across the world that celebrates this holiday loves this wonderful tasting bird, and is usually the center piece of the dinner table, where you can find a couple of the family members debating as to who gets the legs and wings. But in Italy they have a first course before the turkey is brought out, usually pastas and breads are included in this part of your T-day dinner.
Pasta all’Arrabbiata
The Italian Thanksgiving menu must include at least one pasta variation. Classic arrabbiata is always a choice over others for the angry face hues. It does not take more than 30 minutes to cook this Roman pasta made with rich red chili sauce. Avoid the Pecorino Romano DOP when on a diet, but put a handful of grated cheese for a holiday treat.
Tortelli Di Zucca
If you have had enough cheese pasta and arrabbiata sauce, try this classic recipe native to Lombardy. The iconic flavorsome pasta has a filling made with mashed pumpkin, amaretti, and nutmeg. After stuffing, the pasta is sauteed in sage-infused butter.
Involtini di Parmigiano
Homemade parmesan rolls outrun other bread when planning a party for esteemed people. Feel the juice in every bite of these uber-soft and fluffy rolls with the richness of butter.
Pasta e Fagioli
Soups are perfect for a light first course. While Italian primi does not contain meat, this soup with crushed sausage is a bonza if you want to do it with a few items in the main course. Pasta e Fagioli is colorful and easy to make with finely chopped carrots, beans, tomatoes, and other seasonal veggies treated with assorted herbs. Feel the crunch of sausage granules with soft pasta and juicy vegetables.
Italian Thanksgiving Turkey
Secondi (Main Course)
As with most who celebrate Thanksgiving, the turkey is almost going to be the main course! Of course there are those who may want to switch it up a little, and vegans and vegetarians probably want to opt for something like a tofurkey. But if you don’t want to stick with the traditional holiday bird, then you might want to try some of the dishes we have listed below.
Gattò di Patate
Palatable aromatic mashed potatoes are your best bet to ditch the lasagna this year. There are several versions of mashed potatoes in Italian cuisine.
The dish is made with boiled potatoes, eggs, breadcrumbs, Grana Padano DOP cheese, butter, and black pepper. Add soppressata salami and provolone cheese to the potatoes to make a protein-packed meal.
Ali di Tacchino a Lenta Cottura (Slow-Roasted Turkey Wings)
It is super easy to cook the roasted turkey in Italian style. You can make this dish seasoned with fresh herbs- thyme, rosemary, or sage, on any occasion throughout the year. Add a bit of tartness and flavor to these savory chicken wings with Negroni cranberry sauce (I love to cook it with Campari). If cooking cranberry sauce for kids, avoid alcohol and use fresh orange juice…tangy and flavorsome.
 Contorni (Salads and Veggies)
Insalata di Carciofi e Bottega
The vegetable salad makes an ideal combination when served with carbs and turkey on the feasting day menu. Emanated in Sardinia, this piquant salad is made with artichokes, bottarga, radicchio, olive oil, and lemon juice.
Insalata Caprese
This salad preparation is excellent for novices trying to excel in culinary art. A seasoning with shredded basil, olive oil, and salt makes a classic Caprese with diced tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.
An Italian dessert, Tiramisu
Dolci (Desserts)
Torta Di Zucca
This cousin of the traditional American pumpkin pie comes with a twist of Amaretto liquor filling and a tart shell.
Dark Chocolate Pie with Cherries
The chocolate mania is never gone for kids. This luscious cake is high in nutritional value too. Flavored with dark cherry syrup and butter. It is soft and chocolaty inside and crispy outside.
 Italian-Inspired Drinks and Cocktails
The starters on the Thanksgiving evening are best served with these curated Mediterranean cocktails:
Tuscan Vin Santo with Cantucci Biscotti
Vin Santo, the holy wine best served with crunchy almond-filled Cantucci biscuits, is a must for Thanking the God of Harvests in Italian style.
Hot Chocolate Rum
This sugary drink is made with a mix of melted dark chocolate, creamy milk, and rum treated with sugar and spices.
Frozen Quadratino
If you love dark rum, this drink goes well with roasted turkey and crunchy rice balls. All ingredients, including Kahlua, chocolate, and ice are blended well and served in a tall glass. Present the chilled drink topped with whipped cream and cinnamon powder.
SESAMO Wishes You A Happy Thanksgiving
While the above are only a few ideas from the flavors of Italy. If you love Italian food, the choices are endless for a formal dinner or a fun party with friends. Ensure you have a few items for each course and some cocktail options. When skipping the mixology art, white wine or vodka goes well with the food to make your guests comfortable.
