March time capsule of questions

For me March in fandom was very full and eventful, because I try to read Weibo posts as if they were a cypher. Especially the posts that look in any way odd or cryptic. A source of far-fetched interpretation and total fanfiction, so I’d rather make a list of questions March made me think of:

What was DD studying/ working on in February? Which projects would take up/over his time and attention in April? 

Woodz announced that he is a husband and a father, effectively taking himself off the “eligible bachelors” list. Does it make other UNIQ brothers honorary uncles? What would that role entail?

We found out that “Bystander” and “Everything is Lovely” were alternative takes on the same song, and DD couldn’t choose which set of lyrics to cull off, — because the message is not full without any of the halves?

Is there a Da Wei to the Xiao Wei? Is there a Wei-er-gege?

XZS added more licensed activities to their options, I wonder how that will play out in the future?

What was on GG’s mind in the first half of the month? If he was in any way in need of moral support, what did DD do?

How did they take Jeremy Jones’ announcement that he is going to quit acting? 

What new long-term projects landed on GG’s plate this month?

Why does GG sometimes put a larger number of photos into a smaller number of frames?

If/when GG hides Chinese characters in cryptic photos, what is it about? 

When/if they played or still play with AI, what do they use it for? 

How is fanmail processed? What criteria are used to pass selected fanmail to the intended readers? 

How do different levels of oxytocin represented in muscle tensions, especially small facial muscles?

what are the top 5 most used apps on your phone?

     “the top five most used apps? i use kakaotalk the most, followed by melon and youtube because i’m always listening to music or watching videos on my downtime,” jiho explains easily, and he’s pretty sure most of his peers probably answered the same way. they’re all adults with too much time spent in waiting rooms nowadays. “i also use my banking app a lot, because that’s a habit i haven’t been able to break since i track how much i spend and how much i’m saving. i recently signed up for a new bank account because it tracks money so i don’t have to do it,” he says, looking a bit amused at himself for being so boring. 

     “and i downloaded a game recently, called cat&soup and it’s really cute. sometimes i just sit and watch them make their food.”

     he has to check the app to see, scrolling through it before he smiles a bit to himself. “it’s a note of all my members’ and friends’ bubble tea and cafe orders. it’s so that if i’m stopping by to get a drink for myself i can grab them one as well.”

what was the last message or call you’ve received and who was is from?

     “my last message is from a friend of mine ...” he trails off, clicking into the message and looking amused, letting out a laugh afterwards as he reads the spam of messages from said friend. “he asked me if i wanted bubble tea because it’s 1+1, and then proceeded to tell me that the line was long and also ask if he should hypothetically jump over all their heads, before finally informing me that he’s successfully managed to get the drinks.” jiho shakes his head fondly, looking very exasperated but not annoyed in the slightest. “my recent call was from my mom, because she wants to know if i’ll be able to make it home for dinner on my birthday. or on my birthday weekend. she wants to make my favourite food for me.”

     he opens his melon app to check, clicking through the songs he had just been listening to and nods. “the last song i listened to was ‘through the night’ by iu-sunbaenim. i always think about covering her songs, since i auditioned with one, so i’m considering it for my next upload on the v&a channel.” he clicks through the next few songs, “i listened to youngim-sunbaenim’s ‘and july’ recently, ‘walking through winter’ by yoon ddan ddan sunbaenim, woodz-sunbaenim’s ‘pool’ and lastly ‘12:45′ by etham. i’ve been wanting to refresh my english lately so i’ve added some english songs into the mix that i listen to.”

     “is it self-centered to say that my last search was definitely ‘agito lee jiho’?” jiho laughs a bit at this, a little bit embarrassed but not taking it back. “i’m sure everyone answered like this right? with the industry that we’re in, we sort of have to keep up with the things that people are saying online. i think i search my name at least five times everyday! i was really interested in fans’ reactions to the ‘chained up’ stage too, so that was the second search i put in.” he has to pause here to think about what else he had searched recently. “i also searched for a galbitang recipe online recently because i was craving it and wanted to try to make it from scratch, though i haven’t had time yet.” he pauses, trying to think of what else he had searched up. “eterval! i wanted to see fans’ reactions to the fandom name ... oh and the next three would be ‘lee jiho fancam’, ‘jeon haru fancam’ and ‘lee yushin fancam’. i try to monitor all of our performances, and fancams are a good way to see how we’re doing with our facial expressions.”

Honestly, the notes on my stories are down by around 500 this year despite writing almost as much as last year, but I'm not sad. I wrote for smaller fandoms a lot in this past year because lesser known groups and smaller Tumblr reader fandoms deserve as many stories as others. I'm glad to have catered to such fandoms, and I will continue to do so because I've never been one who wrote for solely one artist or for popularity. I'm a multifandom writer, so you can expect a lot of different kinds of stories for a lot of different kinds of artists next year as well. 🥰

A few plans I have for 2024 in terms of writing (from the zillion ones I already have sitting in my ideas docs):

I grew up with those movies, went to cinema at the third movie and all the following ones. Just this year (2022), I decided to read the books… and accidentally stumbled over some Drarry fanfic? That is apparently my personality now (I’ll be insufferable for you by toxik_Angel). So instead of reading the books, I now enjoy slow burn, angsty Drarry fics over books. AGAIN. ( I have some history with gay ffs in other fandoms).OH and one last thing, I am a Slytherin and my fav character is no other than Draco Malfoy. Sadly due to all the controversal stuff, I will distance myself to all the canon stuff connected to a certain person… but I will keep on reading nasty fanfictions about Draco and Harry. Recently been on a wilde readings spree. My tiktok got the hang of recommending fics to me and well, it's come to over 60 open tabs on my phone.

Heartstopper - AND ALICE OSEMAN(VERSE)

Not a big fan of Graphic Novels so I only stick to the series on Netflix but damn… this is my new comfort series when I feel sad or down. Nick/Kit Connor is embracing my heart every time. Recently bought all the books and am now officially comsumed by Osemanverse. My favorite character turned out to be Aled Last from Radio Silence!

Sex Education

My fav idiot is Otis in that series and I totally got him up until nearly end of Season 2. After that we divorced and went seperate ways. Meaning, I felt his awkwardness with sexual stuff and then he suddenly had a sexlife, meanwhile me still advoiding it at all cost. Since, I’m ace…

LoL-Esports

Meaning I am a total sucker for LEC. There’s way too many decent Gamers that I want to pour my heart out to. My favorite player is Mikyx. As casters I rly rly love Daniel Drakos. could i get some fc suggestions for the remaining members of catalyst?

Catalyst is Gold Star’s attempt at catching up to the importance of fandom in a newer generation, so I see them choosing trainees with faces they would deem “fan attractors” or “charismatic” for Catalyst. Catalyst also debuted with a little bit older of an age range than some of their peers and often have a more powerful concept, so Gold Star would have chosen visuals matching that as well.
