Accidentally my first painting
In addition to the pincushion I made for my mom, the pumpkin I made for my friend, the hummingbird I made for my grandma, and several felted cat toys I unfortunately did not take a picture of, my final Christmas 2022 project (at least, that was felted) was a painting for my brother.
Technically it is a wrist cushion actually. It's apparently a little too tall. But my brother works on the computer a lot, so this is what I thought might be useful. And, to make it more fun than just a wrist pad, I painted a scene from stardew valley on to it. It was a real challenge, because I had only done 3d up to this point, and figuring out how to blend and layer was mostly intuitive, but there were still a lot of starts and stops. But it's recognizably Stardew Valley, and that's what counts!

Besides showing what I have made for my shop, I also wanted this blog to be a place where I can show some practice projects and personal projects. The images above were taken in late December 2022. I wanted to learn a new skill connected with needle felting and I've always wanted to try wool painting! This was my first attempt, loosely following a book that my lovely bestie purchased for me for Christmas.
It was a lot of fun, building my canvas and blending wool to create a gradient sky. The trees were the most painful to do since I had to add each branch. I think it was a good first attempt and I'm itching to practice more (though with much smaller canvases lol).

Landscapes in Wool Part 3
Everyone loves Moon Shadow. If there was a design I wanted to steal from Mattson, it would be this one. Gonna have to come up with my own version.
