I JUST PUT IN MY 2 WEEKS AT MY NONPROFIT JOB WHERE THE ENTIRE HR DEPARTMENT QUIT AS WELL AS THE ENTIRE MARKETING DEPARTMENT… as well as 4 other Development associates in my 8 months… it was shockingly horrifying guys.. the eye widening story times i could .. i plan to share on my page and my live streams in the coming weeks…

… you’ve seen me literally deteriorating with every stream. No exaggeration: I was dying slowly and on camera.

I’ve lost 10+lbs, not sleeping more than 4 hours, big under eye luggage, weeping on camera on times, pacing my bedroom, and just living with a new crushing work anxiety✨

This job has been a WILD ride and between the nonprofit corruption and horrifying stories of upper management… I’d been beaten down to a new low.

I’m so genuinely happy to share:

I’ve accepted a NEW position and plan to start April 14th as well as taking a week off before I start!

Which means I’ll be COMING BACK TO LIFE aka practicing intentional self-care, therapy sessions on deck, sharing some of my journey using all my favorite platforms: streaming on tumblr live, creating content for my YouTube channel, and generally beginning to thrive again! 🥹

I’m FINALLY GOING TO GET THOSE YOUTUBE VIDEOS DONE 🥲 can you even fucking imagine? After a 2 year hiatus 😦

This may be an unpopular statement but, I hate the term "Quiet Quitting" and how its being used right now. If I was hired for the position with the duties listed on my job description, and I'm doing and performing those duties, then I am "working". If I do more, then I'm have either made the choice to "Take initiative" OR I am forced to "Overwork", to that if I am doing more than my listed tasks and performing the duties of a higher position...PAY ME IT. If I suddenly stop, I did not quit, no because YOU NEVER HIRED ME WITH THE PAY TO DO IT.

Quiet quitting are the people are actually purposefully under performing and NOT doing their job descriptions, so they can either be asked to resign or get fired. Because USUALLY people are fired because they are NOT performing their job duties.

People doing their job description are WORKING, and they have chosen to have work life balance and not be bullied by lazy or cheap supervisors or managers or employers who are probably UNDER PERFORMING.

Because what ever happened to the concept of "If you need a job done, do it yourself." If you can't do it yourself you HIRE and PAY someone to do it. And if you think people resorting back to their job descriptions and are working within the labor laws and OSHA, and you are the employer and you don't like that then....DO THE JOB YOURSELF, HIRE MORE PEOPLE, UPDATE THE JOB DESCRIPTION AND PAY OR....Prepare of a mass exodus. Employees who are working and performing their job duties well, are not lazy and they are not quitting.

it's actually terrifying how quickly the concept of self care (originally a radical concept rooted in the black panther party's efforts to support other black ppl living through racism) became another tool of self-management which is viewed as both a moral obligation + an individual responsibility. businesses + employers + other institutions now easily wield it as a progressive way to say "if you're upset about xyz, make yourself get over it". "we are going to treat you like shit + you need to learn how to cope with that or else you're doing something wrong"

i have seen job listings where "ability to practice self care" was listed as a requirement for employment. as a case worker, we were repeatedly drilled on "self-care" as a response to unconscionably high case loads, traumatizing experiences, dead end job obligations, + poor living conditions due to subpar pay/high stress. my clients would go to appointments regarding their evictions, food insecurity, active domestic violence situations, etc + receive tips on "self care" without any tangible community, legal, or structural support to follow.

everyone absolutely deserves to care for themselves + it is useful to circulate affirmations + advice on how to do this. this should happen within communities, through a sincere concern/love for one another, as a way of helping everyone live the best life possible while we work towards total liberation. it should not be a replacement for caring for one another!!! it should be one of many ways of caring for one another!!!

Blitzle Elesa backstory under cut!

Blitzle was gifted to Elesa so she has an “easier time” integrating into Nimbasa by her well meaning dad. This is not the greatest move, since the two feel they are more obligated to stick together then, you know, actually choose each other. Blitzle’s meant to be a utility mon— he helps charge elesa’s hearing aid batteries and basically serves as an emotional support when things get rough. He’s… not the biggest fan. (I like to imagine Blitzle was originally part of a battle track, but his IVs aren’t the greatest so they shuffled him out. He’s a bit bitter about that.)

Inciting incident where they actually start taking the proper steps to becoming partners is when Elesa takes a tumble down a hill and Blitzle twists his foreleg going after her. (Local child eats shit! More at 11.)

They’re just kids, and they’re still learning.

(When Elesa decides to challenge the gyms, Blitzle’s so excited he accidentally trips their house’s circuits.)
