You’ve Got This...
Here we are, April of 2020, stuck at home, restaurants closed, libraries closed, work closed, schools closed, society...closed! But, as with everything else, there’s a bright side to this. For most people, before this pandemic, time wasn’t a commodity because life was on fast forward most days and the off days were spent running errands and doing chores. Few times were we able to just sit back, relax, read a book, spend time with family, cook, or even chit chat with friends & family.We were either too busy, too tired, or preoccupied with pointless matters. We started this new year just 4 months ago and 2 out of the 4 have been spent inside because of this global catastrophe. What a downer, I know! We tune in to the media every day to catch a glimpse of the outside world but all we see is the negative, and not nearly enough of the positive. In my 5 weeks of being inside I have gone through just about every room in my house twice, painted, rearranged, cleaned out, and renovated anything that needed fixing or adjusting. Then I had an epiphany; Why not do the same in my life? I thought about how much better things looked when I completed those projects I put on hold for so long. How beautiful a wall could look when you took the time to paint it right, no matter how many coats you had to give it. The difference it made to rearrange a room to look and feel brand new. All these things are similar to what we should do with out hearts, our bodies, and our relationships. Take the time to iron out the wrinkles, smooth everything out with whoever you’ve had issues with, because life is but a wrinkle in time and we are all grains in an hourglass. Spend time with your family, play games together, eat at the table together, watch a movie together as a family. Don’t just sulk and complain about how crappy it is to be stuck at home. We’re all in the same boat honey, we know. If you shift that same energy into repairing, renovating, or rearranging your inner self and your family and I promise you will see the light in all of this darkness. And if you ever feel like you’re getting to a point where the road is just too rough to tread, then call me and I’ll take your hand and we’ll walk through it together. I've started recording my workouts and its helped a lot in correcting my form! Here's a great exercise for core stabilization and shoulders (plus some 🍑)
💥Quadruped with opposite arm and leg reach💥
Begin on all fours with wrists (engaged, as well as your hand) stacked under shoulders and knees stacked under hips.
As I begin to reach back my leg and opposite arm I have to really stabilize my core to keep my low back from arching and making sure my hips stay even so I dont lose balance. A good cue is to tuck your ribs!
I'm kicking out as far as I can until I feel my tighter muscles start to compensate by wanting to turn my leg inwards. I need to scoot my knees back a bit so they're under my hips more, and rest my toes vs the top of my foot on the ground.
My pecs and back are a bit tight too so I couldn't fully extend my arm, only to where I could control the movement.
I need to tuck my chin more and keep my cervical spine more stable and in line with my spine.
The video is sped up but a 3-5 second hold at the top of the movement is 💀
I followed this with a single leg bridge
I could only hold each leg for a small amount of time but that's no worry! I'm focusing on my control and correct form first before worrying about how long I can hold 😁
I've found it easier for my form if I do a bridge and then extend my leg. As it got harder to hold I lifted my leg a bit too high, something I'm working on!
If that's easy for you then start with one leg extended on the bottom and lift with the opposite glute
Try for 12 reps each side and let me know what you think!

I've seen and you've probably seen these words as well, it might feel like another resolution thrown onto the internet. truth is that I haven't really mastered this self-care mindset, which is more than “a trend.” . last year was pretty ok, but I lost track of this “work-life balance” and ultimately it affected my health.
