Ragnarok de Dies Irae - Shinjuku
When Joshua and the Shibuya Reapers decide to release Sora from his responsibilities as a Support Reaper and let him go out to help the worlds in the Underground plane, they first send him to Shinjuku to ally with Yozora, a fellow Reaper Agent (who is not bound to the hierarchy within his district and runs missions that the Angels agree to).
The situation in Shinjuku takes what little is known about Verum Rex and also runs with the idea of Verum Rex being a parody of Final Fantasy XV. Yozora was loyal to the previous Magister (counterpart to the Conductor), Princeps, but rebelled when the vile, power-hungry Matestahlidor took over as Magister and set about subjugating the UG and threatening the RG, and he became a Reaper Agent at the Master of Masters' suggestion. He allies with Players, currently Magia and Aegis, to fight the forces of the Magister, who wishes to use the Gigas robots to conquer the UG plane and corrupt the people in the RG by unbalancing their Karma to enslave them. To keep people from getting suspicious about the strange events going on behind the scenes, he collaborated with Square Enix to work his escapades into the Verum Rex franchise.
Hoshi Inlustris is the counterpart to Lunafreya and serves as the Oracle of Shinjuku (effectively the counterpart to the Composer) (she is not the Nameless Star in this), where she watches over the aura of Karma and uses the Game of the UG to judge the souls of the dead and make sure that their Karma remains balanced. She is torn between her duty and her love for Yozora, particularly as the Magister and the Commander wage their war and force Yozora to oppose his standard duty.
The Underground plane of each world operates differently from the next. While this is the same world as Shibuya, each special ward has its own rules (only Shibuya and Shinjuku will be explored).

had some hopes and thoughts abt “unreality” the other day that i’m still going a bit brrr over
Remembering that the Realm of Light was once a single mass of land that was split apart as a result of the spread of darkness/ the Keyblade War. How this means that, while each world exists and operates on its own time axis and unique “order,” the keyblade can be summoned in each world (and tbh, by extension, the existence of keyholes as a whole) because the keyblade is an intrinsic part of the Realm of Light. Also a really neat way of probably justifying why disney characters like Merlin, Fairy Godmother and Triton know about the keyblade and worlds at large in ways they typically shouldn’t.
But Unreality might not adhere to those same principles, and that makes me so 👀👀 Like! Was it also a single land mass that was split apart, or is it made of worlds that exist in natural separation from one another?
Mainly, does Kingdom Hearts as an entity even exist there? Without it, could a keyblade be summoned at all? It seems like that’s not the idea put forward in the KH4 trailer, but I can’t help but think about the way Sora summons the keyblade like it’s something he’s fighting to do. Like it isn’t meant to naturally occur, but can be done so now, because whatever laws or balance Quadratum had in place prior to the arrival of the MoM, Strelitzia, the Darkside, and now (presumably) Sigurd have been upset by their presence. This thought based mainly on the MoM’s comment to Darkness about how wherever light goes, darkness follows.
But also.... mmmm thinking yet again about Game Central Station being forcibly connected to the data Daybreak Town, and how we get Ralph as a summon after being thrown into Verum Rex in Toy Box. If that connection to GCS was set up from Unreality/Quadratum as a means of connecting a world with the keyblade to a universe where the keyblade isn’t “meant” to exist..... i am so grabby hands

Death spared no mercy for his mechanical kin, nor did the iron titans of their wayward king. Amid the neon jungles of Shinjuku, did the deity draw blade and crossbow against the behemoth-class Gigas unit: a goliath Yozora accosted one time too many. Despite its monstrous proportions, the Gigas titan was painfully predictable in its movements-- something which cost Yozora his abdomen. Be it arrogance, or a genuine lapse in judgement, Yozora delivered the final blow to the machine: shrapnel spearing through the king's torso.
Tumblr media
Yozora did not wage war on Gigas units unprovoked, of course. His sole priority was protecting the very woman who was now ailing him of his wounds. ❛  Don't--  ❜ Night sky insisted with gritted teeth, as his companion pried soaked fabric away regardless. Ichor flooded in abundance from exposed flesh, blood thick as the steel that cleaved him.
And yet, the Verum Rex would siphon every last breath from his lungs, if it meant sparing his star.
❛  Astra.  ❜ Leather palm grasped firm at her wrist, scarlet webbing into silk. His grip only loosened once he was certain she ceased her ministrations. ❛  ... Spare yourself. It's not safe.  ❜ With a muted grunt of exertion, did the monarch press his back against concrete wall, hoisting himself up with the building's support. ❛  The station isn't far. We'll recoup there.  ❜

Verum Cedrata Review
I’ve put off doing this review for an awfully long time, and not for any good reason. Back in January, I reviewed another Verum soda I purchased at World Market, their Gingerlime flavor, and I’ve been holding onto this bottle ever since. According to the cap, it’s good for at least another year (and three weeks), but if it turns out to be somewhat flat, there’s a reason. According to the…

Religious symbolisms on EP 12 in Christian and Buddhism/Hinduism perspectives
Isn’t it amusing that the final episode, EP12, fell on this year’s Lenten week? Rebirth and resurrection, the anastasis… those themes. Easter Sunday, the Christian Jesus alive again overcoming Death itself.
Isami Ao being reborn as Bravern’s latest persona, Burn Brave Big Bang, to defeat the all-powerful of all the Death Drives. Most of all, Lewis Smith coming back. His own resurrection, his own rebirth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Burn Brave Big Bang is definitely Isami complete with his standard snarl
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verum Vita. What’s in a name? First off, it is a bastardised Latin that lacks an “e” at the end that means “the truth of life,” which sounds ironic as her lust for murder supersedes.
Upon introducing Verum Vita, a choir-like music could be heard chanting in Latin. (It was reminiscent of Carmina Burana’s “O, Fortuna” or “Dies Irae” by Guiseppe Verdi.) Then a pink lotus 🪷 appeared on her feet/bottom of her tower. A lotus has a significant meaning in different religions. In Christianity, flowers don’t often play an integral part in worship. Though, it represents purity and God’s creation of the universe. However, in Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism, the lotus signifies purity of the heart, soul, and mind, and also, rebirth. It is an extraordinary exemplary as such that it remains pure and clean when coming out from the murky waters.
Usually, Hindu and Buddhism religious arts consist of deities either seated or floating on a lotus flower.
Verum Vita resembled the deity Kisshōten, the equivalent of Lakshmi in Japanese Buddhism. With a blossoming lotus under her feet, this goddess symbolises fertility, wealth, prosperity and beauty. The lotus under Verum Vita was not just any colour, but pink. In Buddhism, “the pink lotus flower is the supreme lotus and is considered to be the true lotus of Buddha.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few frames later, the lotus pedestal where she used to stand on transformed into marsh grass, which could be interpreted as the moment her fallen mask, her real intention, was revealed. Instead of holding a wish-fulfilling jewel called Cintamani, Verum Vita was holding a sword.
Tumblr media
It is interesting the way this series subvert everything and use the religious imagery as the forces of evil subjugating the humankind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Isami and Verum Vita both declared that they didn’t want to die. But there lies the difference between the two. When the first one wanted to save the world, the other strived to destroy it.
It feels like a mishmash of all beliefs fused into one huge spectacle to make this episode parts parody, parts fairy tale, and it is interesting to watch.

I decided to watch some old KH trailers in honor of the anniversary today, and I have to admit, I don’t think I ever rewatched this one after the release of Melody of Memory. When it was first revealed, we were under the assumption that the Master of Masters was the opponent Kairi was facing, but as we now know, it was actually Master Xehanort. While we were aware that the Master of Masters has more plans and tricks up his sleeve, to think of this line in the context of Xehanort is a little different. It brought to mind an old theory of mine, so I decided to go back to KH3, Re:Mind, KHDR, and MoM to compile as much evidence as possible for it.
(As a disclaimer, it slightly undermines the authenticity of his ‘conclusion’ in KH3, so if you’re a big fan of that scene, feel free to skip this one.)
Tumblr media
This line in KH3 is a good place to start. From the get go, it was established that Xehanort planned for nearly every possible outcome of the Keyblade War. I also think it’s safe to say that every action he made was an intentional choice based on these plans. So the question is, what is the “final plan” referenced in Melody of Memory’s trailer? I think the game gave us the answer:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It may be easy to jump to the conclusion that this was just a plan for revenge, since Sora is the one who stopped Xehanort to begin with. However, I want to reaffirm that every action he takes is for a reason that serves his goals. It wasn’t just a plan to make Sora disappear, but likely to make him disappear to Quadratum specifically.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was even foreshadowed in KH3’s Toy Box world. Young Xehanort sends Sora to the world of Verum Rex—though it’s probably closer to a “data” version in this instance:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YX in particular is very confident that Sora’s overuse of the Power of Waking will lead to his disappearance:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And MX has a similar line in Re:Mind:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Except this is where things get interesting. The Sora in Re:Mind is time-traveling from a point in time after he defeated Xehanort.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xehanort must know this, because he sees the real Sora (from this point in time) about to begin the final battle in the distance. He then acknowledges that the Sora he’s speaking to is from the future. Unless he witnesses the present Sora time travel during their final confrontation, he can conclude that Sora survives their fight to time travel later on—meaning his plan doesn’t come to fruition. Sora unknowingly reveals his hand in Re:Mind this way, and opens the door for Xehanort to plan accordingly—which is kind of mind-breaking to think about…
It gets even better here, during Sora’s fight with Terra-Xehanort:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sora brags that, like Xehanort, he can also time travel. To which Xehanort responds that Sora will then also need to make the “ultimate sacrifice”, or in other words, “pay the ultimate price”, as MX said. “Also”—as in, Xehanort has made this sacrifice as well by time traveling. As in, Xehanort will also disappear to Quadratum.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have evidence to believe that as well. I also like the interpretation that he intentionally planned this to survive the world being purged, but that’s kind of a separate theory.
So to recap, Xehanort was probably aware that Sora would survive their final confrontation in order to time travel afterwards. He correctly predicts that the consequence for time traveling would be to disappear… specifically to Quadratum—something that Melody of Memory considers his “final plan”.
So… why? Why would he want Sora to also disappear to Quadratum? Trying to answer that question leads to the most controversial part of this theory:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s really nice to believe that Xehanort gave Sora the X-blade as an admission of his defeat, and I’m definitely not against that interpretation. But it is a little strange that before—and after—this scene, in Melody of Memory, he continues to act like making Sora disappear was his big plan. It doesn’t feel right, if he was supposed to be letting Sora “win” here.
I’ll be very curious to see if Xehanort has a role in Quadratum, and why exactly he “paved the way” for Sora to be there as well. Either way, I am holding out for a geniune change of heart from him, especially if what we saw in KH3 was more of a manipulation.

I’m too tired to go too deep into detail on this one but here’s my Kingdom Hearts 4 theory that I want to put out into the world.
The nameless star and the girl we see in the Verum Rex trailer aren’t actually the same person. It’s a red herring.
Yozora takes clear inspiration from Noctis from FFXV (e.g. the scene of Yozora in the car that’s shot-for-shot a scene from an early trailer with Yozora replacing Noctis).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while many think that’s because Nomura is using ideas he never got to bring to life when he worked on Versus XIII, aka “Beta FFXV”, before the project moved on without him, I think it’s less that and more to do with Nomura’s feelings in letting go of his characters and letting someone else write their story.
I think Yozora is the answer to the question “What if Noctis knew that his story was so far removed from what was originally planned? What if he knew his fate was changed?” (Put a pin in that, because there’s more to this question.)
Anyway, we all saw the nameless star for the first time and... Okay, well, a lot of us thought it was Strelitzia at first and that Square Enix North America (henceforth SENA) had just put romantic dialogue somewhere that wasn’t supposed to be romantic and accidentally made Marluxia sound like Strelitzia’s love interest. (Wouldn’t be the first time that happened in KH3. Thank you SENA.) But once we saw more of her and Yozora in Melody of Memory and Re:Mind respectively, we all realized she was from the same place Yozora was from, and we all thought about the only girl we know who’s from Verum Rex and we all just...
...assumed.
But we haven’t seen the nameless star’s face. And we haven’t heard Verum Rex girl’s voice. So we don’t actually have any confirmation that they’re the same person.
So here’s my suggestion.
Verum Rex girl is Luna in this equation.
Tumblr media
And Nameless Star is Stella, the girl who was originally going to be Noct’s love interest back when FFXV was Versus XIII.
Tumblr media
We meet Nameless Star in what is essentially Kingdom Hearts Purgatory. But she’s from a fictional world. Fictional characters can’t die. Not in the way we know it. I can pop Into the Spider-Verse into my DVD player, hit play, and boom, there’s Uncle Aaron, alive. You can’t do that with real people.
But if a character is written out of a story, they’re gone forever. That, I propose to you, is true death for a fictional character, which is why Nameless Star is hanging out with dead people. And she’s lost everything. Her whole identity. Her name. And the person she loves doesn’t remember her. Because she’s not part of his story anymore.
Yozora also says that the way he looks isn’t what he really looks like. A lot of people have taken that to be the start of an explanation for why he looks like Riku, and it still might be in some roundabout way, but I propose to you that he’s been redesigned, and he’s aware of it.
So here’s the core of what this all means, why it’s relevant.
Kingdom Hearts loves its parallels, yeah?
So here’s what I propose to you.
Sora’s story is also, as we speak, being rewritten. At least in a sense.
Sora sees Riku’s light, and twenty minutes later, it’s apparently Kairi’s light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sora saves seven hearts, including Riku’s, and three hours later, he’s only saved six, and Kairi’s heart is the seventh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Somehow or another, Yozora found out about what happened to him, and, due to some trial or another, also found out what is currently happening to Sora. And he wants to save Sora from suffering his fate.
I don’t think there’s any hope for Yozora himself. He is, after all, the night sky, what could have happened if Sora’s story got the “bad end”, so to speak.
But I do think he can “save Sora.”
So here’s the rest of that question.
What if Noctis knew that his story was so far removed from what was originally planned? What if he knew his fate was changed?
And what if he saw the same thing happening to Sora, a kid destined to have a queer love story but forced into a romance with a girl by a greater power instead, and refused to let that slide?

Just a thought, but what if the Quadratum Riku’s currently jumped to isn’t the Quadratum that Sora’s stuck in? They both look like Tokyo, but real-world locales have been used in fiction all the time. Verum Rex looks based in Tokyo too. The games aren’t strangers to the idea of multiple iterations of the same world.
So maybe Riku traveled to the Quadratum of Verum Rex while Sora’s one step further into his unreality/our reality. Maybe Yozora’s guarding the portal to the “truer” Quadratum and is keeping an eye on Riku because of that, knowing that someone who comes from that side of reality is searching for the Sora he’s meant to save/protect.

Hi! May I ask which are some good super starter or basic grimoires? I tried Agrippa and just...it didn't go in...i have the Picatrix but I honestly think I'll just get the same result, it's way above my head. Is there anything simple i might "get" or should I honestly just accept it's not for me and move on? Thank you!
Hey, so I have this post right here that goes over why no grimoire that's worth learning from with the intent to practice it through is going to be classified as beginner/starter/etc. So I'm not going to rehash that part.
As for "getting" Agrippa, I think it's important to remember that it's an encyclopedia. As such, when you're beginning to explore grimoires, it's best to use it as a reference book. Can you use Agrippa as the foundation of your own practice? Yes, but unless you're already familiar with occult concepts and topics, it might require far more than one or two surface readings to fully digest what it's talking about.
So since it sounds like you're newer to grimtrad circles, I have a few books that I think might help build that foundation without all the dense walls of text and jargon to read through (though please bear in mind that I struggle to remember what is/not common knowledge even in mundane matters, so if some of these are a bit trickier to navigate, feel free to blame it on my incompetence):
A Deed Without A Name by Lee Morgan (staple)
Conjuring Spirits by Miller (Miller's work is v good)
The Black Arts by Richard Cavendish (read critically, don't accept everything blindly)
The Hermetic & Alchemical Writings of Paracelsus - Waite & Paracelsus (denser)
Magic, Witchcraft, and Ghosts in Greek and Roman Worlds
Elucidation of Necromancy
Celestial Intelligences by Kaminsky (denser)
Wortkunning
Some books that I worked with or through that seem easy enough to bring to real life application, with the right dedication and mindset:
The 6th & 7th Books of Moses
The Sworn Book of Honorius
The Book of Oberon
Seven Spheres & Gateways: Through Stone and Circle (1 book) & Through Light and Shadow (different book) - best combo, anyone can practice these really
Keys of Solomon & Grimorium Verum & Secrets of Solomon - solid combo
The Goetia of Dr. Rudd (a particular fave)
The Complete Mystical Records of Dr. John Dee (learn a bit of Latin first or have a solid translator on deck)
Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) & Greek and Egyptian Magical Formularies & Techniques of Greco-Egyptian Magic - best combo, imo
Orphic Hymns Grimoire & The Hekatæon & Tartaros - another good combo
The 32 Keys
Azoëtia & The Black Dragon series
Book of St. Cyprian
I think it's worth mentioning that reading more is a great way to broaden your awareness of occult concepts and topics. If you look at how things are considered across different dedicated areas of study, then you're more likely to understand the foundations of said thing. One perspective is very limiting. It's better to seek out multiple. By reading from the first list, which should give a pretty solid introductory to broad concepts, and then sifting through the grimoires mentioned, you should be able - through applying yourself properly to the task - gain an understanding of how these things may function/interact in a living tradition, and then through applying them yourself gain the practical knowledge of how they actually are.
And as a closing note: I would personally recommend leaving behind the idea that you're supposed to "get" occult books. You study from them, you learn what you can from them, and through implementing what they speak of and experimenting with what interests you, you acquire that knowledge plus your own discovered knowledge and heightened awareness. In this way, you'll come to realize why I refer to my engagement with the occult as a study and practice.
Of course, if none of this was helpful, you can feel free to disregard my input here as the ramblings of a twenty-something nobody. Have a good one!

Some things that I would like to see in KH4
1. A sidequest where you gather different plants from different worlds for Strelitzia’s apartment. Make the damn place look like the urban garden to end all urban gardens
2. Literally everyone recognizes Yozora and he has no idea why up until someone shows him that Kingstagram post Sora made in KH3 that shows the poster of Verum Rex from Toy Box. Better yet, give him the physical copy of said game.
3. Luxord mission control
4. Star Wars characters thinking that Sora’s magic is an “anomalous use of the Force”
5. Sora looking for Neku once he hears that Shibuya is a thing
6. Riku and the unregistered Keyblade motorcycle that never fails to get him in trouble with the cops
7. Speaking of the cops: After the trailer they bombard Sora with questions and the poor guy is like “um, look, I really should lie to you about all this but I’m a really bad liar and I’m not sure what lies I can even tell you so can I just not talk about this?” and he has those puppy dog eyes that scream “I really miss my friends” and the police leave him alone because poor thing. Except for That One Cop He’ll hound poor Sora until the end of time
8. Heartless plushies for sale in a week flat after they appear
9. Strelitzia party member
10. Speaking of which, her Keyblade formchanging into a scythe that looks too similar to Marluxia’s for Sora’s sanity
11. Sora will jump on the local social media the first chance he gets and we all know it. ALL sorts of content - cooking, the pant collection, fighting, “look at this cool bird”, “wow this building is so weird gotta show it to Riku” and other weird stuff. He basically becomes a lifestyle influencer with a side of monster slaying and he has absolutely no clue what he’s doing, so just posts cool things as far as he’s concerned
12. Luxord running the casino mini-game
13. Yozora giving Luxord crap whenever he loses said minigames
14. Ava vs Luxu, except that it involves a screaming match on top of the fighting that DOES get posted online
15. Imagine the Master of Masters treating Luxu/Xigbar like he’s still that awkward teenager... In front of everyone who knew him as Xigbar. Top tier blackmail material right there
16. Sora vaguelly referencing a “fighting tournament” and NEVER giving specifics
17. Dream Eaters in the real world. Cue even more plushies. So many dream eater plushies. Except that then the Dream Eaters will get jealous of the plushies and will start giving cuddles to EVERYONE so there’s no point in the plushies anymore
18. Have you seen that post (don’t know from which website, I found it on Pinterest) where Ventus introduces his friend groups to each other... and from one hand it’s Lauriam and Elrena and one the other is Lea, Isa and Skuld and they all look extremely awkward? That needs to happen.
19. Foretellers looking up cosplay because they’re tired of everyone questioning who they’re cosplaying as
20. Luxu being #tired of everything
That’s all I got for now!
