This beast was once a great serpent that roamed the seas, back when the world was one giant churning ocean.

The beast, in its pride, challenged the very gods that created it. The gods cursed this creature and caused its flesh to calcify and turn to rock.

Now, plants, mountains, and life forms of all shapes grow from its flesh.

However, there will be a day when this beast breaks free from its curse and takes its revenge…

I don't know how canon this will stay but I drew up a map for Asters world, each CityState is located next to/near a shrine of the three sky Goddess'. The northern region goes from a subalpine zone mostly just based on things I've seen growing up in Canada, no specific location in mind. It transitions into an alpine tundra before going into pure tundra biome as it gets more northern.

The shrine here is build in the center of a lake which pools between the four mountains. The mountains are facing the four cardinal directions which helps the priests of Tahti properly map the stars with near perfect accuracy.

The western region is based on afrotropical rainforests (I'm spcifically looking into the amani nature reserve in Tanzania for inspiration for this one).

The shrine in the western region is devoted to Kuu, the goddess of the moon, the lake is said to get so calm during the full moon that you can see a perfect reflection of the moon, the Priests use this to speak with Kuu, who is said to stand just barely on the surface of the calm water.

The south eastern region is based mostly on the African savannas, and it gets more barren as you head lower into the CityState.

The Shrine here is built on one of the off-shore islands, where the suns rays reflect off of the ocean to cover the Shrine with sunlight at all times of day.
