Book asks: 1, 2, 15, and 20!
1) book you’ve reread the most times?
I am like a chronic rereader so this is kind of hard to figure out, however it's probably a tie between any of the books from the Spenser series. I reread it at least once a year for every year (and I’ve been reading these books when they were regularly coming out new about as long as I’ve been reading so!).
2) top 5 books of all time?
oh jesus books are so hard for me to rank because there are so many books i read and love and never think about again and then there are books i read and it's been twenty years and i am still thinking about it. I’ll go authors over individual books because I love a series. Robert B. Parker easy number one. Frank Bidart is (at this point in my life at least) my favorite poet so number two for him. I think I’ve read just about everything Mette Hjort has written so pop her on there. Hard pivot to name individual books: On The Road (😔🫡) and Post War as #4 & #5 respectively.
15) recommend and review a book.
Title: Words of Stone by Kevin Henkes | Rating: ★★★★.5
So this is a book I read in the fifth grade for our reading groups and it haunted me so thoroughly that for years I had nightmares based around an inciting incident of the novel. I cannot express how many times I'd wake up sweating and shaking from a nightmare because of this book. But I also could not remember the name of the book I knew it was Stone-something or Something- Stone and it was like 2020? 2021 that Betty, the icon and hero that she is, actually found the book i was talking about and I reread it thinking okay it won't be as good as it was when I was a kid.
Honestly it is still one of the most heartbreaking upsetting books that I've read. It's just got a lot of heavy topics, it's got some really complex child characters. It's just a ruin your night stick with you for life books if you read it at the right time I think. The way it ends is a big factor for why I think it hung with me for so long. It just ends. Nothing is wrapped up, you don't get any resolution of the tension It's Done. There's no sequel there's nothing. And I love that. I am not giving any plot details beyond this: it's about a boy who lost his mom and the friendship he makes with a little girl one summer.
Enjoy!
20) what are things you look for in a book?
I am, and always have been, incredibly picky. Like genuinely I can walk in to bookstore, ready to spend money, and 9/10 walk away without anything. I don't know if there's anything specific that I can say I look for. If the vibe is right I'll know it, but I can go 'I want a cozy mystery' and spend an hour minimum carefully picking up cozy mystery after cozy mystery and not finding one that sticks out to me or vibes with me. It also is super specific. Timing IS in fact everything so there are books I said meh too that I rad years later and loved! There’s no one thing that I will always gravitate too, but good vibes win out.

"Hornet is Void" theory, not in any sort of intentional, engineering-your-other-babies or whatever way, but in a "PK had awful policy with Void cross-contamination and it meant that Hornet came out with a handful of VERY conspicuously void-y characteristics that everyone tries to ignore because no one actually knows for sure where they came from and acknowledging them in any formal way could lead t a political shitshow" way.

Anon voice for the character ask thing i am inquiring about buckethy barnes
first impression? kind of a tragic little guy eh, i am sure that since he has died i will be no- what's that? he didn't die? more horrors befell him and it was the power of love that brought him back to the surface after being submerged for years? Uh Oh
impression now? insert like 85 betty posts here - he's blade runner he's metropolis he's babygirl he's balls deep in that fucking body four goddamn times a day and the times he's not he's thinking about it
favorite moment? the tws knife flip. we all know the one. sat in a movie theater three times for that movie just because it rewired my brain so intensely
idea for a story? the thing is like. the version of bucky in my head is so much better than anything marvel could do but alas there he is stuck. so there isn't much in the way of stories i would like to see him in. i feel like best summed up would just be i wish we'd had a moment where steve had watched him hungrily and gone god damn bucky i love to watch you work.
unpopular opinion? {heavily redacted} and that's how i feel!
favorite relationship? you already know it's his fucked up little sickly to thickly bestie steven grant
favorite headcanon? it is not a headcanon so much as i have adapted this fic into my worldview of bucky
