I’ve seen people toss around the idea that Dick knows how Bruce’s mind works intimately but Bruce doesn’t know Dick as well as he thinks he does. Do you agree with that sentiment?

ah... this is a really good question.

i think the case could be made both ways. because we're not just looking at what Bruce knows about Dick, but how he thinks about Dick in his internal monologue. so it can be very interpretive.

I like to write Bruce and Dick as knowing each other equally as well as the other, *and* having a blind spot regarding their place in the other's mind. Bruce's understanding of Dick has a Bruce-shaped misinterpretation in it, and visa versa. I like the symmetry of that.

one reason it seems like Bruce doesn't know Dick that well in comics is that Dick often thinks about Bruce critically. Bruce does not often think critically about Dick. off the top of my head, I can't think of a single instance. I bet it has happened, but doesn't seem to happen as often.

when Bruce talks about Dick, he doesn't talk about Dick's self-doubt and fear of letting people down. he doesn't talk about Dick's flaws. he idealizes Dick, usually saying something like "he saved me—" before switching his train of thought.

howwwwever... Bruce may still know about Dick's flaws and fears and just *dismiss them* in his internal monologue because he believes in Dick more than Dick believes in himself. Bruce is incredibly smart. they both are. smart enough to hide things from each other. smart enough to figure out what those secrets are, if they want to.

I've said before that Bruce can't understand Dick unless Bruce learns to love himself. which is veering dangerously close to a philosophical question—how well can we know people without loving them? without knowing ourselves? really makes u think :)

Selina has to sit through 3 hours of " our generation doesn't know what real music is" speeches until she finally cracks and chokes him with her whip

Martinez will never forget the day Batman grabs Riddler by the scruff of his neck and holds him like a misbehaving cat, " What do we say when we flood the city?"

"Sorry."

"That's right. Now go to your cell for reflection time."

Don't misunderstand, he's like that with the league, too. Bruce gives Billy a juice box for not obliterating an enemy to bits and he almost gets lasered.

First off this absolutely cursed AU was inspired by Lemonomelette and a post they made -X Secondly I imagine it all being about bots and cons trying to one up each others factions and not actually helping in any serious way because their too busy with their own faction bs.

Think of two rival car dealerships across the street one upping each other to get business and instead of business with cars its interstellar robot fairys trying to woo sm children to let them grant their inconsequential wishes (which may or may not be worth it) instead of the other guy next door.
