I kept my hands on Emily’s hips her’s were wrapped around my neck. I couldn’t help the grin that was on my face as we were swaying back and forth to the music that was playing in the background. I easily recognized the intro. 

With a World Cup and Olympic medal to my name, there were only two more things I absolutely wanted to do in my life. The first, was to marry the woman in front of me. The other was to somehow befriend Taylor Swift and be invited to join her for one of her concerts.

I softly sung along to the song playing in the background.

“You really do love this song,” Emily said.

“I mean, it’s Taylor Swift,” I shrugged. I pulled my head back enough to look at her. “Do you not like Taylor Swift?”

“I love Taylor Swift.”

“Good.”

We continued to sway to the song.

“What would you say if I asked you if this could be our first song at our wedding?” I asked Emily. 

Emily pulled back from me this time to look at me. She looked a little surprised by the question.

“I would tell you that we should probably actually be engaged first before you ask me such a question.”

I waited until the song finished before I let go of Emily’s waist. I kneeled onto the ground as I pulled the small black box from my pocket.

“Will you, Emily Ann Sonnett, marry me and be my lover forever?”

“Yes,” Emily nodded.

I grinned as Emily pulled me up from my knee to press a kiss to my lips. I put the ring onto Emily after we pulled apart from the kiss.

“So, what would you say to us dancing to Lover for our first song?” I asked.

“I think it would fit us perfectly.”

I grinned at that before I moved to start on our dinner.

“You don’t mind if I announce it, right?”

“You know I don’t,” I assured her.

After a few minutes my phone pinged, but I ignored it as I continued to make our dinner. I didn’t check the notification until I had finished setting the table. It was a notification letting me know that Emily had tagged me in. It was a picture of her hand with the ring while I was in the background cooking.

“Hey,” I said causing Emily to look up at me. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”
