yeah i skipped some guys , i dont draw some of them enough to have much unique designs and some of them are a png of a dog

trust me i am just surprised as the rest of yall that i am doing hlvrai art . design notes below (very long, mind your step)

gordon:

wow this guy dont got no head

i didnt want to give gordon a face because of how unexact the person is as the fandom engages with it. is it wayne rtvs? (well as presented to an audience, yes) is it gordon freeman? (well as seen from an in game perspective, yes) is it a whole new guy entirely? (well as

i cut the confusion and took it a whole new direction: guillotine

hlvrai being treated as a very broken game is fun to me as a design perspective, so if you (the audience) are not supposed to see his face, what happens when you see it anyways? missing texture time

there are eyes drawn over because i did not have confidence in my expressions at first and then it grew on me

i think if i were to draw (and i have drawn) an actual person under the mask i would still censor the eyes because that is where the vr headset sits!!

though i really like seeing how other people interpret gordon hlvrai it is not . my gordon ? we are talking about the same guy . but this is my gordo . i made this one . this guy my guy . maybe i should draw other gordon designs

i can draw the hev suit from memory and it is also the entire reason why i can render metal confidently

i liked how people changed the lambda to read ai :] i also have no clue if i wrote the lambda correctly

dr coomer:

as much as i draw/drew him i find it more fun to not stick to one set design :)

so a lot of my takes on dr coomer tend to jump from idea to idea, especially from what other people are doing, though they could be fitted to the left and right designs!

the left design is mainly based off what i saw in fandom spaces

we see rounder shapes, making for a more friendly and welcoming appearance

i think of this as straying from the more professional uniform of the actual scientist models

enter swimming shorts and bright yellow socks, for some reason

so now he kind of looks like a cool science teacher :)

it might be the lab coat

the right design is mainly based off thumbnails for hlvrai itself

these use a more angular appearance

i want to push how comically buff he is because of strength he shows at times, especially since his left design seems to completely down play it as a comically not buff man who is still very strong

the shadows on right design coomer get so much more harsh and exaggerated because i have comic books on the mind :)

he really does look like a dehydrated comic book character huh

tommy:

stick bug (he gets it from his dad) (this thought process is explained at gman section)

i pushed a lot of the saturation of colours in her design because i think tommy gets to be a little silly with it

fun art story of the day! when you color, try messing with hue! you might notice you can get away with a lot as long as your values are about right

i like pushing this with white because you can get away with a lot of things reading as “off white”

old faithful for me is cool shadows with a warm transition colour to keep things visually interesting

tommys design looks a little like a school boy, with the tucked in button up shirt+suspenders+shorts+jacket tied around the waist . and the primary colours . but like it is really fun to dress up so brightly

i actually was strongly inspired by medieval babies if that is a weird descriptor? i wanted him to both be a middle aged man but also a young adult

do not be like tommy, who has their finger on the trigger of the gun while not even looking at where it is pointing and good god he is squeezing the trigger . top ten firearm safety of all time

bubby:

the absurd part is that i think bubby is tall . he is just between tommy and gman who are exaggeratedly lanky .

i wanted to make bubby a pointy kinda guy, so he is the only one actually wearing the lab coat proper . and the only one actually wearing dress socks but not even wearing dress shoes

i wanted to give him a novelty tie but i was running low on ideas and running high on boreds so we dont get a tie

he does have crocs though!! in attack mode!!

i do think we all kind of saw his model and collectively decided it works for him because i have honestly not seen major divergences from his model?

gman:

i wanted to stress the more spooky and unknowable nature of him and took it in the dark souls direction of “make bigger than player character”

he cannot walk through any doorways but you will have to crane your neck to look up at him

in the opposite direction of tommy, i pulled a lot of the saturation in gmans design

it feels important to make them both not fully match the rest of the slightly less broken npcs because there was so much work to make them look cool so i have to respect that

actually a lot of gmans and tommys designs are made in opposite to one another

gman has a largely stationary face and very stiff line work

while tommy is pushed to expressive as possible

thats pretty fun, way to go me

benrey:

benrey also has two designs

and in both of these i keep getting too lazy to use a reference so  the vests are super plain (forgetting the badge and black mesa logo) . i think the helmet is supposed to be darker actually .

the design ethos of benrey was “built like a brick shithouse”

a friend of mine took this cooler and interpreted it as a shield/wall/barrier as a physical (and narrative) obstacle

again the first uses fandom designs

most notably the overcast shadow (seen in video thumbnails but i never noticed it or understood why so many people did it until someone pointed it out to me)

i think hlvrai is such a great medium because it acknowledges it is a game and is able to play into that to great effect! i think the shadow is fun to imagine as solid black as a small reminder of the impossibility of the space :]

benrey is a smug cat in the body of a human . to be honest . and this is the full range of emotion i have ever drawn him with

the second was mostly because as fun as taking creative liberties are, i just really wanted to see benrey as is: the half life security guard model in all its slight wonk :]

i actually do prefer this design . it is a little more uncanny because i choose the worst translations of the model . i like it because it is a little more uncanny !

that can be said for like . every single design in this line up huh .

We see this panel in the extra chapter from vol 9 it’s just larger this time and notably missing Olivier's glare of annoyance despite the larger space.

Roland looks so sad I need to know what happened between him and Astolfo so bad.

This scene is set up that it makes my immediate thought that it will be the last panel of the chapter or that it will be the last panel before we step away from Astolfo's past and go back to the current timeline (since we know that some panels contain stuff that seems to happen in the current timeline) but I do think it might be the opening page of the chapter since it seems to start where 58 ended.

Guess we’re getting more Astolfo pov this chapter and judging by the panels shown earlier (like 10 days ago) I’m guessing the first part is going to be flashbacks about him and it ends suddenly here or adds more?

Either way the characters we see in these panels seem to be from current timeline (these are the panels)

Oh shit. I mean we did get confirmation on this by Georges, once again in the extra chapter (thank you Georges and the extra chapter) but it’s nice getting it straight from Astolfo (or younger Astolfo). Seriously though what happened? Conflicting interests? A vampire attack? The churches interference/manipulation?

In this context, I guess this shows that Roland’s aware of Astolfo’s thoughts on him since it puts focus on his face in the panel. He definitely doesn’t approve of Astolfo's worship of him but I don’t see him confronting him about it though so I don’t know what happened there.

The guy who I presume is Charles' vice captain from the last chapter is behind Roland once again making me believe this is directly what happened after chapter 58 ended since that was were he was when Charles called for Roland.

I do think that it's Charles saying those lines since there wasn't anyone else in the room except the scar guy who doesn't seem to be speaking and Astolfo who clearly isn't saying that.

That seems to be Astolfo going up to Roland since the feet are small and bloodied. I do think that Roland was disappointed in himself for only being able to save one person which is why Charles is getting him to look after Astolfo so he knows he at least saved one life (which is quite sweet but this guy looks like a manipulator so...)

Roland looks so traumatised though and I'm not sure why. Astolfo was in pretty bad shape but the cloak (I think it was Roland's cloak?) was covering his body last chapter and I'm not sure if he still has it on in this panel so maybe that's where all the damage is? Or some other reason, maybe he was just shocked Astolfo was still alive after what happened.

Also I do have a life outside of stalking Mochizuki's twitter page (I just check it every 3 hours every day even in class it's not a problem)

As an artist, seeing your interpretation of ACoTaR characters make my heart burst because like you said about the basic model design for the characters… they’re all the same, conveniently attractive, no flaws whatsoever. Despite the more cartoonish approach to your design, they look far more realistic than whatever the author interpreted. For the first time I’m seeing a short Rhys (HE LOOKS FERAL AND IM LIVING FOR IT) And a plus sized Amren, not to mention you emphasized more on poc-coded characters with skintone. Please draw more SJM characters in your art style because you’re very talented and I can tell you have so much creativity ❤️❤️❤️

Hi!! Wow thank you so much! I have a pretty torn relationship with the Acotar series as a whole as well as Sarah J. Maas' writing. A lot of it doesn't appeal to me as much anymore but I read the series back in high-school though and I really enjoyed it at the time so I have a lot of nostalgia for it! I appreciate you liking my art as I also feel like the Fandom (as much as a lot the art is really well done) lacks a lot of diversity. Not just with poc but with bodies and even faces. I think thats why people fight over fan castings so much because the characters are described so loosely. Really only being "so incredibly beautiful/handsome that its mind-blowing" and that doesnt leave a lot of interesting or noticable characteristics to shine through. And what is beauty anyway if everyone looks the same? I want Feyre to look at feral, lanky Rhys with his weird cat eyes and sharp bat teeth and think WOW that's the most beautiful man I've ever seen in my life. It's much more charming to me.

Also thank you for liking short Rhys! He's described as being very cat-like but I have a hard time picturing a big buff dude moving around like a cat LOL. So he's always been on the lean side to me. Anyways you've also inspired me to draw a little more so my next post is for you~

Glad I'm not the only one who hates the slimmed down Eggman art. He is EGGman. SHAPED LIKE AN EGG. Let him be big. People don't need to have ripped abs or be 99% muscle to be strong/intimidating/whatever. If they truly want a character that's super ripped and muscular, they can find a different character. Eggman is strong, eggman is fat, the fact that people can't seem to accept those both is super frustrating.

Anyway, that's my little rant. I have some strong opinions about this unfortunately underrated egg, and I'm glad to find a space where I can share them. Hope you're having a good day, take care!

Slimmed down Eggman art has always been my worst enemy lol. I'm so glad I'm not alone in my frustrations with it because it's so immensely popular. Everyone always prefers official skinnier versions over the fat ones and it's not a coincidence, they intentionally slim down classic or modern Eggman in art, or make skinny redesigns or draw him slim and buff instead. Also more people only started saying Eggman was hot when the most popular slimmer versions started existing and more people think fat Eggman ns4w is repulsive, while they say skinny sexy Eggman ns4w is hot. The fatphobia has always been extremely obvious in many ways and some don't even try to hide it and admit it openly.

I've loved fat Eggman and cared about keeping him round for as long as I've liked the series, besides Heroes, X was the first Sonic media I consumed around the same time and whenever there were simple small errors between frames where he was randomly drawn flat looking or skinny, even that bothered me. It made me draw a very chunky Eggman so I could be especially careful and make sure I never accidentally drew him too skinny and I loved it so much that it stuck as a part of my style lol. So the actual intentionally slimmed down Eggman in both official and fan content really bothers me especially when even the accidents would bother me a lot.

I'll only ever make the exception for Boom Eggman, I don't like him as much but he's still at least more faithful than Kintobor or jimbotnik in other ways. But did the whole slimming down a fat character for a redesign thing really need to happen in the first place? No. Just like how skinny characters aren't redesigned to be fat, there's no reason to slim a fat character down. Especially in Eggman's case, as it's literally the actual reason he has the goddamn name EGGman, it's not something that should just randomly be taken away for no reason when it's a core defining trait like what lmfao. Also makes me sad that any version can be liked by fatphobic morons as a result because they don't deserve any.

I can't pretend I don't hate the skinny Eggman gender swaps or younger anime boy redesigns, even all the anthro ones are skinny. Slimming down and making characters "conventionally attractive" sucks. Let them be interesting and fun instead of the most boring standards with the most generic designs. A little creativity here! I also don't like when people draw ripped skinny Eggman when they find out about his strength because fat strong people exist! He's great rep and proof he doesn't need to look like that to be strong and yet people do it anyway and I don't think it's sexy or funny or whatever. I hate when people are like "wow he actually looks strong/like a power type character now" nah, he already does exactly the way he is.

Eggman being a big strong fat man is one of the coolest most admirable things about him to me, I find it sad that a lot of the fandom don't respect it and are so fatphobic too. I'm very passionate about loving and appreciating that as he really deserves. 💜 Lol this is indeed the perfect place to share those strong Eggman opinions as I unsurprisingly have a lot too, I'm glad you find this a good place to do so. ^^

sketches of chip chadwick from earlier this year-- thats all four of them, now. i did not do as many preliminary sketches of him like samson, taggart, or basil because i had trouble deciding on what hair to give him, so i decided to just make it up as i went along. as a result theres not a lot of unposted stuff, most of the drawings of him are just whats already in my tagcen tag. whatever, hes shaped like a buff triangle. and i still dont know how to draw his hair

fun facts™ about Chip!!

His legal name is Chase Chadwick. Unlike Basil, Taggart, or Samson he doesn't particularly care enough to hide it but ironically enough most people just think thats a fake name anyway.

He used to just wrestle under just his actual first name Chase, but changed it to Chip Chadwick in response to Afterburner saying he had a chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately Afterburner quit and disappeared from the scene before he saw this, but Chip kept it regardless.

He has a twin sister named Sasha Chadwick. She is a regional manager for a major grocery store chain and their parents generally consider this to be more successful than Chip being a wrestler, although they've been coming around to it in recent years. Chip has got a whole complex about "being the lesser twin"-- He's lived in her shadow his whole life and its made him mildly deranged.

Chip graduated university with a major in physics and a minor in economics. He was also in a fraternity, and was taking wrestling classes (to… Relax? Blow off steam??) while in the process of getting his degree. Deranged overachiever.

Hes been passionate about wrestling since forever, but didn't think it was a viable career choice especially compared to Sasha "im getting a college degree in management" Chadwick, which is why he also went to college but for the comparatively more sciencey and important Physics major*. He also got a minor in economics, in order to segue into some sort of career in the financial sector. He ended up taking wrestling classes on the side to fulfill the need/desire to be showy and physical. college nerdjock…

Despite all this, he always took it extremely personally when Afterburner (Basil) said he was not good at wrestling lol. Burner (and Taggart) had all the free time in the world to tumble around and train. Between getting his degree and (after he graduated) his intern-job, Chip did not have all the free time in the world. But he never brought this up because that'd just be making excuses (and shouldn't he be the best at everything he did?)

After Chip lost to Afterburner (for the nth time…) Burner said something so scathing to him, Chip straight up quit his job in order to train and commit to wrestling full-time. He returned extremely buff and good at wrestling. Unfortunately Afterburner quit and disappeared from the scene before he saw this, but Chip kept going regardless…

He's pretty successful for how early on he is in his career, with some big wins under his belt (he beat samson! well... after he had already lost the championship he was holding, but still), but he still isn't satisfied.

anyway thats it! i may have secretly made chip a poor little meow meow. i can't help it it is in my nature as a creator or whatever to give all my characters a certain amount of pathetic quality and also problems. but dont be fooled and dont pity him. trust me he sucks and is mean and rude. i just dont draw it enough. look

*for a long while i couldnt decide on what he should've majored in. it needed to be something impressively technical (so, STEM) but mostly bookish/nonphysical/abstracted/very involved with equations (which is why he'd want/need to do an extracurricular tangible and physical activity, like wrestling), and also something immediately prestigious and capitalistic with a clear career path because hes doing this to rival his sister (which rules out stuff like "lawyer" and anything that goes into straight academia). it would ideally be something business/finance adjacent so basil would be drawn to finding chip's behaviors familiar/relatable but not literally business or finance because that'd too relatable to basil which would make him nope the fuck out. i didnt think him being a CS major would fit for the type of Guy i was trying to manifest, and neither would biology/chemistry/medicine. i wanted him to be some sort of math major but i couldnt figure out valid non-academia pathways for that. i initially didnt want to make him major in physics because of (ahem) comparisons to certain crowbar-wielding scientists, but then i learned that there was a common track of physics -> finance data equation career so i reconsidered. i think it ends up fitting. another important element is that chip had a very specific career path in mind here when he went to university and got his degree (and a minor too! jeez) but because he was fueled not by passion but by spite, it was very easy/quick for him to drop everything to do wrestling instead. this is something that would also repeat itself again when it came to the tagcen tournament, as he had this very specific plan with samson (win tagcen tournament -> get into the invitational continental tag team tournament -> win big tag team gold) which he would stray from to chase after basil... again... for the second time. chip's endless stubborn obsession with basil is like, the main catalyst for the conflict in the TAGCEN story, so. the more things that reinforce that concept the better. anyway thanks for reading my ted talk about my thought process on characterizing my antagonist. ive done this to varying degrees with basil and taggart and samson too but chip is the only one im the least embarrassed about publicly pontificating about

Readers' Ideas for WoW Improvements

WoW Insider published an article asking its readers to submit suggestions to WoW to improve the game. We were thrilled to get your suggestions and you didn't disappoint. Many of the commenters had what we considered were actually some fantastic ideas, so we decided to take them up for further discussion. Theartofkerembeyit

In my opinion, an excellent idea. It's been the case many times when I'm trying to level a DPS character, that I've had a conflict between wanting to finish the story of a zone and also wanting to advance with my leveling. It's easy to level up areas in WoW by using the buffs from guild perks, jewelry and other items. Of course, there's a way to ignore the gray mobs and the gray quests as well as the fact that you're being far less efficient than if you moved on to another zone but why do players have to make that decision?

It's also possible to go back to old zones or old content at 90, but there's something to be said about playing zones at levels. This change could make the game more engaging and richer in story as well as replay value. Players would be able to spend longer in each zone, and have more areas to explore and new characters to experience.

This is something ladyjbritish and many others pleaded for. And, like the above it's an extremely sensible idea. Sure, you might want to simply send one toon to a different server to test the waters or to try out an e-rogue guild, or similar, but in the long run , if the new server fits it's not a surprise that players would like to bring their entire team over to their new home.

One commenter mentioned that they would love to see this feature made available at lower cost than cost of a brand new game. This is a sensible point. It makes sense that people would consider the new game a viable alternative to staying on a dying server or paying a lot of money to transfer characters or buy an entirely new game at a much lower price. Yes, you could start over on a different server but it's a huge difficult task to leave your group of alts in the dust.

A similar update is planned for an upcoming patch. Players will be able to queue for several LFR sections at the same time, but MaikS89 goes one step further by stating that players should be able to queue for offline characters. At first, I'm awestruck by the idea. It's an excellent use of time, especially for DPS who suffer extremely long queues. However, there are some downsides for me, and this seems like a far less obvious shoe-in than the previous ideas. It could encourage people not to play a character as often. Although you are able to queue for LFR while queued for, and actually playing, other content, a change to allow an offline character to queue appears to be a step too far.

On the other hand, it will allow players with an main that needs some LFR equipment, or valor, and many other alts that require leveling or other gear, to get all that done in a shorter timeframe. I'm not certain what to think about this.

This is a much more secure idea. One of the things that could hinder it is the possibility of fears for server economies, where players are things like transferring massive amounts of gems or other items from server to server in order to profit from the best markets. But it seems like this could potentially be restricted. It would be great to have an account-wide bank to allow new characters to draw from or for heirlooms to be transferred to other characters. This would solve many problems, with minor inconveniences, but a substantial improvement in the quality of life.

This request is perhaps more niche. Personally, I would absolutely enjoy the opportunity to play in both regions to play with my friends in the EU as well as those in the US using the same accounts without the need to create US-specific accounts just to play across the Atlantic. Although the ping isn’t the greatest but I can still play on US PTR servers as well as on live servers with minimal difficulty. This is something that could, frankly, be implemented across several other games, , to facilitate cross-region play and accounts. This is a great idea!

Something small like making the grind to endgame insane, adding hundreds or uber rare collectible astels and focusing on fun combat would have made this game at least understandable. I dont get its purpose other than a short-for-mmorpg pretty scenery quest grind.

Its just why in 2019 release a game based on a game type proven to not do well? It doesnt have any interesting endgame, and the grind isnt long or full of interesting stuff to farm. Theres nothing wrong with the game though, specifically. Realistically it doesnt have a place in mmorpgs, other than maybe sitting in between older korean f2p mmorps, which last i checked were all basically dead or private server centered to avoid awful predatory cash shops. Typical in korean fashion the scenery has some really nice views, using a heavy blur function, it can look very beautiful for its low tech engine.Īstels are collectible and theres progression, but seem to all be lollies or lulz based. You quest hub hop and progress then theres some light endgame. I dont think its an awful game, its just, this is a circa 2006 format mmorpg. Definitely the most solid eastern MMO i’ve tried in a while. One of the better MMO’s i’ve played at release. Everyone i’ve met in game is enjoying it. Endgame is currently locked until early access ends.Īs it is there would have to be nothing worth doing at endgame to kill it for me. As far as Korean MMO’s go I find it more engaging than others i’ve tried. I didn’t in any way say that it’s perfect. I’ve been playing a few days I did say that so not far. You would recommend based on how many hours of gameplay and what level achieved - the game gets much worse later than first 30 levels Let us know how the endgame dungeons are (if you ever get there) and how mind numbing it is when you can single pull every mob lol I would recommend.Ī lot of what you said reads like promotional material. They level up, have there own system of gearing, and give bonus buffs depending on which Astel's you have in your deck. I find the astel system very interesting and that's really the draw going forward. Some people have reported problems but I myself have had zero issues. I've had no issues downloading or installing the game. As long as that doesn't change I can see myself getting a fair amount of enjoyment out of the game. The cash shop is fair and doesn't sell anything to make your character more powerful. Some of the characters are annoying though. If your fine with a game that plays similar to WoW then this might be for you. Really the only thing that feels very unique. The game can look really beautiful at times. So far I'm enjoying it much better than BDO or Bless.

And so preparations for the final event begin! Let’s see if these being one on one matches helps me get through them a bit faster when I’m not having to transcribe quite so much action all at once.

[No. 32 - Smile, Prince of Nonsense Land!]

Another character profile to start out with! (I swear I’m gonna have to make a post compiling these once we’ve gotten all of them for class 1a… maybe run a comparison with the end of chapter profiles? Eh shrug.)

I swear, my instincts say that something that that tail should not be as flexible as it is because of its circumference. I know, I know, quirks, freaking magic, don’t think about it, but still. It’s a very straightforward quirk with a surprising amount of utility, and he makes full use of it. Good for him! Now, onto the chapter proper.

Kirishima is pretty hyped for a tournament, thinking about how they’ll be up in ‘that ring he sees on TV every year.’ Mina asks him if it was a tournament last year as well, but Sero’s the one to answer - the format’s always different, but most years involve some kind of head to head competition. (Apparently the year before theirs involved foam sword fighting, and now I’m incredibly disappointed we didn’t get to see that for this sports festival finale… would have been absolutely hilarious.)

Midnight holds up a box of lots, saying that match-ups will be decided by drawing lots. Once that’s done, they’ll move on to the festivities and then the tournament itself. It’s up to each of the sixteen finalists whether or not they participate in the fun, since she figures some of them would rather take a breather and save their strength. 

She starts to call for the first place team to draw lots, but Ojiro raises his hand, calling for her attention. He then states that he’d like to drop out, much to the shock of the others. Someone (I think Kirishima?) asks him why, since this is his chance of being noticed by the pros. Ojiro stats that he has no memories of the cavalry battle or anything that happened in it up until the tail end. And it’s probably his quirk that did that. 

Ohh, ominous. And Izuku’s really concerned for Ojiro here. Ojiro states that he knows this is a great opportunity, and he knows it seems stupid to throw it away, but this final turnament… everyone else made it with their own strength. But he’s standing here and he doesn’t even know how or why. He just can’t take it. 

Hagakure says that he’s thinking about it too hard, and that he can just show what he’s made of in the tournament. Mina agrees, saying that by that logic, she shouldn’t really be here either. Ojiro starts crying, hiding his face in his hand as he shakes, explaining that he’s talking about his pride here. He doesn’t think it’s right. (He also has no idea why the girls are dressed like that. Really, the entire cheerleader gimmick seems a bit… awkward, here.)

Izuku has no idea what to say. But class B’s Nirengeki does - kind of. He admits that he can’t remember anything either, so he wants to withdraw as well. This is a contest of skill, so letting someone who didn’t do anything advance… doesn’t that defeat the whole point of the sports festival? Isn’t it against the rules?

Kirishima starts to tear up, calling the two manly. Up in the booth, Present Mic announces the strange turn of events, while Aizawa wonders what Midnight, as the coordinator, will decide. Midnight’s ruling?

She likes it. The two are allowed to withdraw. Aoyama puts a hand on Ojiro’s shoulder and promises to win it for him. 

Midnight tells the kids that replacing the two will be members of team Kendo, who took fifth. Kendo replies that if it’s gonna be like that, then shouldn’t it be team Tetsu instead? Her team was immobilized pretty much the whole time, while team Tetsu were giving it their all to keep what they had until the very end. She then hastens to assure that they aren’t colluding or anything, it just feels right.

Tetsutetsu is in tears by the gesture. After a brief transition, it’s decided that Tetsutetsu and Shiozaki will join the finalists, bringing the number back up to sixteen. And with that, the match-ups can be drawn!

Izuku notes that if he wins his first match, his second’s gonna be against Shouto. Which I feel is very rude of him to just entirely discount the possibility of Sero winning the match. I mean, it’s an honest assessment, but STILL. Rude. Anyways, before his match with Shouto, he still has to face off against Shinsou, who has to be-

And speak of the devil, there’s the guy in question. He wants to know if he’s Midoriya Izuku, which startles Izuku. Izuku recognizes him from the declaration of war two weeks back. He goes to respond, only to be cut off by Ojiro’s tail over his mouth. Shinsou huffs and turns t head away, while Ojiro warns Izuku not to answer him. 

We get a few other reactions from some of the other students: Shouto contemplates how his match with Izuku will be sooner than expected, and that he wants Izuku to bring his best before he takes him down. Katsuki wonders out loud who Uraraka is, which startles an eep out of her, possibly for using her actual name. Mei approaches Tenya, chucking as she starts to ask him something. And Present Mic announces that they’re setting aside the tournament for the time being, and getting on with the thrill-a-minute festivities. 

There’s a few snapshots of what everyone is up to over the course of the side events: some of the non-finalists racing massive balls (probably rubber?) around the inside perimeter of the stadium, Ojiro talking to a stressed out Izuku, Tokoyami napping in a tree, Tenya drinking five (5) cans of orange juice, Katsuki doing… something, Shouto crouched down resting somewhere outside the stadium, and finally some students searching for items on the cards they were given. Oh, right, and the girls are doing cheerleader stuff, with Hagakure being the most enthusiastic, and Jirou and Momo as the least. 

Honestly, with that jump, Hagakure is either buff as heck, or Ochako is lending her a hand. 

While all this is happening, Izuku is narrating how some people preferred to psych themselves up, while others tried to relax. Everyone was dealing with it differently. And before they knew it, the time had come.

We come back into the narrative as Cementoss is just finishing up crafting the battle platform from scratch, which is honestly incredibly impressive. I guess his manipulation of cement includes being able to dry it out super fast. And really, with how it looks, he’s just showing off. Especially with those torches, like, those can’t have been made from cement. Were they just put there and the cement set around them? Did he use the cement to manipulate them into place? I have questions, sir.

As I said, showing off just a touch. 

Present Mic thanks Cementoss before asking the crowds if they’re ready. He talks about how the students have been through hell to get here, but now it’s time for the one-on-one tournament! They’ll only have themselves to rely on. Even if someone isn’t a hero, that saying holds true! You know it! Spirit, technique, strength, wisdom, and knowledge! Use them all and show us your best!

...They’ll only have themselves to rely on, even applied to non-heroes? Uh, wow. Talk about the underlying 𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓾𝓮𝓼 showing up here. I honestly can’t help but think that Izuku’s issues with heading off alone in the current manga arc has less to do with emulating All Might, and more absorbing all these small asides and comments from all the staff of UA. Which is fucking 𝕪𝕚𝕜𝕖𝕤.

Anyways, while Mic’s doing his thing, Izuku is trying to calm himself before his match, only for Toshinori to come up to talk to him. He notes how it took a while, but Izuku’s finally getting the hang of using One For All, and gives Izuku a wonky thumbs up. Izuku is surprised to see his mentor there, but also corrects him - he doesn’t really have a hang of it, he’s still uneasy. He brings up his microwave visualization thing, and how he’s been trying to recall when he launched it at the villain, but it still feels dangerous. As if he could fall apart if he loses focus for a second, and, well, it’s like Toshinori saw. Given the level his body is at, even when Izuku controls it, it only gives a small boost in power. 

Toshinoir thinks on it for a bit, before reminding Izuku about that talk about giving it between zero and a hundred. As Izuku is now, heis body’s capable of about five percent. Izuku considers that, thinking that if it’s like that, then he’s just gotten lucky with everything. Toshinori gives him a few thwacks on the head and neck, telling Izuku that that’s because he’s always been trying his hardest, calling him a prince of nonsense. He also chides Izuku, saying he’ll never be a hero looking so mopey.

While Izuku recovers from the assault, Toshinori tells him to listen, before stating that especially when Izuku is feeling worried or scared, that’s when he needs to smile. Izuku’s come this far, so show some bravado, even if it’s fake. To punctuate this, Toshinori swells up into All Might, giving him another thumbs up. And I guess it kind of works as motivation, since Izuku seems less stressed?

Anywho, we finally get into the first match! Present Mic announces the two, with Izuku getting a comment about his making a weird face despite his good performance, and Shinsou getting a comment about not having done anything to stand out yet. The rules are simple - win by knocking out your opponent, immobilizing them, or getting them to say ‘I give up!’ Bring the pain! Recovery Girl’s on standby. And fight dirty if you must! ‘Ethics’ have no meaning here!

...this explains why Shinsou immediately went for such a low blow. 

Anywho, Cementoss makes himself a seat to watch from, so as to be prepared to stop the match at any time. Present Mic clarifies that going for the kill is a big no-no and will disqualify you, because a true hero’s fists fly only when in pursuit of villains. 

Shinsou starts talking, contemplating the ‘I give up’ option before asking Izuku if he gets it? That this battle’s going to test his strength of will. If you have any kind of vision for your future, there’s no sense in worrying about how you get there. Like that monkey, babbling about his stupid pride. 

Wow is Izuku pissed. Present Mic announces the start of the match as Shinsou rhetorically asks what kind of dumbass throws away a chance like this. Izuku rushes forward furiously demanding to know what Shinsou just said - only to stop dead. Shinsou calls it his win, while in the stands, Ojiro is stressing out, tail flailing as he snaps at how he’d warned Izuku about this. Toshinori is waiting at the entrance to the stadium, confused. 

Present Mic asks what’s wrong, the battle’s just started, show some spirit! Mere seconds into the match, Izuku is frozen in place?

And we end the chapter on that cliffhanger. What an introduction to Shinsou, and we have more to go in the next… one or two chapters, can’t recall. 

Anywho, see y’all next time for spooky quirk shenanigans! Can’t believe our first ghost sighting is about to happen. Fricken love ghosts.

A/N: Those that Lovelink know Damien Jones or his counter Austin. I was thinking about doing a Damien FF and after yesterday’s date I definitely needed to do it! Thanks to @khoicesbyk​ for the idea and giving me the push to write this. MC is named after her MC in the app. Normally I have to write SMUT after a few drinks haha. I'm standing in the prison car park just staring at the door, I look down at my watch 10.37 AM. 7 minutes late what if something has happened? I pull out my phone and load up Lovelink.

*Damien last active 8.09 AM*

Then I hear the creaky iron door open. I look up there he! My Damien a free man!

He looks around then spots me, the brightest smile appears on his face as he starts sprinting towards me.

My eyes well up, his arms wrap around me, he lifts my feet off the ground and spins me round "KARA!"

He pepper kisses all over my face before his lips crash against mine, his tongue invades my mouth "God, it feels so good to be able to do that without worrying about a guard catching us or counting the minutes until our time is up! That's all thanks to you Kara. Most people wouldn't have stuck by me like you have" he lands soft kiss against my lips.

"Damien, guess what?"

"What?"

"You are finally a free man!"

He grins, "Come on, I need to refuel, then burn some energy," he puts me down and gives me a look that warns me that we need to leave now before he takes me right here.

"Let's get you home!"

We get into the car, "I never thought I'd see the back of that place"

He's looking out the window, staring. I reach over, take his hand in mine "Your future starts today"

He kisses my knuckles "Our future! Kara you are my future"

My cheeks burn "What do you want to eat?"

"Besides you? Something greasy, a burger oh, and fries and a chocolate milkshake"

I laugh "OK, I think there's a diner just down here"

We pull in and head inside, we order Damien leans over the table and takes my hands "You have no idea how much I've missed touching you"

I bite my lip, he gaze makes me squeeze my legs together "Oh, I think I do!"

"2 Cheeseburgers with fries, 1 chocolate shake and 1 strawberry shake!" the waitress puts the food down in front of us.

He face lights up "Thanks," he says as she leaves us to it.

He takes his first bite "Oh..My..GOD" he says between chews.

I can't help smiling at him "Kara, are you sure you don't mind me staying with you?"

"Hey! Now you are out I don't want to spend a minute away from you!"

He chuckles "Good because I wouldn't want to be anywhere else"

We pull to my apartment building "Home sweet home" I tell him.

He looks up at the building "Nice area so much nicer than where I've lived before" he smiles at me.

"Come on, let's get you inside" we head up, he's close behind me.

I open the door and before it slams shut his lips are on mine like I'm the air he needs to survive. His hands roam my body desperately, his lips move to my pulse line, I push off his jacket needing fewer clothes between us.

His hands slide under my thighs before he lifts me up, I wrap my legs around his waist. He moves us across the room our lips not leaving each others, he lowers me onto the kitchen counter pulls back just a little to look at me as his hand glides up my leg and under my dress "Damien?"

He smiles "I can't believe this is real," I blush, he reaches his goal, he pulls my underwear to the side. The pads of his fingers brush against my core making me shiver "God, Damien!" I see him grinning as he's standing in front of me.

I pull his t-shirt over his head, run my hand down his chest and abs.

"Oh!!" his fingers dip between my folds and play against my clit, I reach for his belt and unbuckle it. I slip my hand beneath his jeans, I can feel his hard shaft trying to break free, he groans.

I pull him back to me, kissing and nipping his neck "Kara....fuck" I dip my hand under the waistband of his boxer, grasp him and start working up and down. His head collapses against my shoulder, both trying to catch our breath as we match each other's rhythm.

"Damien....I..." I don't need to finish my sentence he pulls down my underwear and removes his "Wait, there's some condoms in my bag" he reaches behind me and grabs one.

"How long you had these in there?" He smirks.

"Before my first lesson at the prison, but we never got a chance to use them" I wink.

"I'll make it up to you now" He rolls it over his hard member.

His lips smash against mine as he pushes pass my entrance filling me. I wrap around him adjusting to his size, his pace is slow to start with "Harder Damien" a growl catches in his throat.

He draws out all the way to the tip before he thrusts harder all the way to the base, each thrust is more powerful than the last.

I dig my nails into his back, and he hisses "Ohhh...baby!"

He reaches between where our bodies meet and works against my clit "Fuck...." I feel him grin against my lips.

His pace speeds up I grip his shoulders anchoring myself, I can't hold back anymore, I clench around him as I fall over the edge "Damien YES!"

"God Kara! Shit" I feel his body jerk as he hits his own peak.

Both panting, he places a soft kiss on my lips "Wow that was..."

He lift me up of the counter "I'm no way through with you yet!" he takes us over to the couch.

"Damien!" I giggle.

"No!! I didn't do it! NO!!" I stir the room still dark, I turn on the lamp"No! It wasn't me!! Kara Please!!" I hear Damien scream I turn over, he still asleep, he must be dreaming.

I touch his face and whisper "Damien, hey, it's ok! Wake up" I stroke his face, he's sweating.

He begins to stir gasping for breath, after a moment he realizes where he is "Hey, did you have a bad dream?" He nods "Aww baby! What was it about?" He casts his eyes away from mine "Hey, you can tell me"

"I...I was arrested. One of Bennie's goons set me up, Kara, I was so scared. The worst part was you actually believed I did it!"

I turn him to face me "Hey, I would never do that because I know you aren't capable of that. It was just a bad dream"

He looks at me with sad eyes, "I know but it felt so real"

I place my finger to his lips shushing him "You know what's real? Me here with you" I place his hand on my chest.

His face starts to soften, his hand come up and hook under my chin he pulls my lips towards his, I rest my hands against his peeks.

He stops "Kara, I love you"

I smile, "I love you more"

He laughs before claiming my lips with his. The kiss starts of soft before becoming more intense, his tongue swirls with mine.

I pull away "Let me show you how real this is" I place little kisses down his neck, chest, he groans. I brush over his boxers to find him ready for me, I hook my fingers under the band of his boxers freeing him.

I grip around the base before circling his tip against my tongue "FUCK, KARA!" he groans.

I take him fully in my mouth working up and down his hard shaft. His hand clutches my hair moving me to his rhythm "Crap...baby....that feels" each time I draw back I lightly graze my teeth against him making him buck his hips up.

I pull him out "Feel real enough for you?" before he can answer I work my mouth along him again.

"Fuck...yes" he arches off the bed.

He pulls me up towards his lips, so I'm straddling him, I reach over to the bedside table and grab the foil packet. He pulls away takes the packet out of my hand rips it open between his teeth in one swift moment he slides it on.

His hard member runs along my apex before entering me making me cry out "Oh!" he moves slow stretching my walls, he pulls me back to his lips as his hips thrust up against mine.

I sit up a little and move my hips with his"Kara..you feel so..ride me baby" as he thrust his hips up and plunge mine down causes him to go deeper.

"Damien, just like that..oh" I press my hands against his chest.

"Baby...that's it ride me harder...fuck" I speed up my rhythm his hands clutch my hips moving me to his beat.

He sits up grasping my hair capturing my lips with his. His kiss is rough, his hips thrust up harder and faster. His arms wrap around me, pressing me tighter against him.

"Come for me Kara! I know you're holding back!" he thrusts up harder, pushing me towards the edge a few more thrusts "Yes Damien YES!" this send towards his own climax "Kara!!" he collapses backwards on the bed with me against his chest, both trying to catch our breath.

The next morning I left Damien in bed sleeping while I jumped in the shower, behind me, I hear the door open.

I feel his presence behind me, his hand moves the hair away from my neck, and he begins to kiss against my pulse line, his other hand cups my breast.

"Morning" He whispers, I turn in his arms and gently kiss his lips as his hand dips between my legs and brushes against my centre.

I moan against his lips, he lifts me up and press me against the glass. We get lost in each others embrace.

Later I'm just about to I head over to my dresser as I look up at the mirror my heart melts. In red lip stick, there's a love heart with a message that reads.

Kara, Will you be my girlfriend? D x

"You found it, then?" I hear him call over from the doorway "So, what's your answer?"

I run over to him, crash my lips to his. He pulls away slightly "Is that a yes?"

I nod

"Well, that causes for a celebration" he walks us backwards until we fall onto the bed.

"I love you Damien"

"Guess what...I love you more Kara!"

ROBIN 80TH ANNIVERSARY - REVIEW!! - The GREAT, the okay, the meh, the wait what, and the freaking awful

None of the stories I’d consider bad in this besides the Super Sons one.

They have flaws, some don’t have any but aren’t that great, and just weird choices, with some disappointments.

I’m just gonna be honest about each story because that’s all I can do.

DICK GRAYSON’S FIRST STORY: Really freaking good.

My favorite story is probably the first one:

Like the art is the best in the whole issue, and the only real flaw is how mean they made Bruce through-out it.

It’s yet again another story of how and why Dick quit (I guess he didn’t get fired this time) being Robin, but it’s just nice. Nice pacing, timing, dialogue, good art, and because the people working on it are 80s writers and artists, it keeps it feeling classic.

Which is great for a little showing of the 80s world, and I’m no big 80s DC guy at all, but it’s a really nice flashback for that.

One thing that was disappointing but I won’t count as a flaw (since it’s really not, just a wasted opportunity) is that this kid didn’t end up being Tim:

It looks like a young Tim, it’s drawn by the first artist on Tim’s Robin ongoing, written by his creator, it’s about the history of Robin, and he’s an overeager Robin fanboy-- like why wasn’t this kid Tim? He even has that dorky bowlcut Tim had when he was little, just less 80s styled.

A missed opportunity honestly.

The story though shows Dick’s compassion, talent, frustrations as he became his own man, his views on Robin, some of his sense of humor even. So his characterization is pretty great, but it is written by the man that grew Dick his own unique character to begin with, and it’s great to see this story keeps it up. (Prolly gonna find out this is an old script, but hey, it’s a good one.)

A weird retcon story, but it’s a nice callback to the 80s, and I think it’s really well-done beyond Bruce being a controlling grumpy prick to the point it feels like parody.

DICK GRAYSON’S SECOND STORY: It’s just alright.

Where the first story is a flashback to the 80s, this is a direct flashback to he 90s, with the writer and artist that started his ongoing solo.

And it’s good. Like I had a lot of fun reading it, good heroics, feels of it’s era, but like the last story that’s the fun.

There’s nothing really to say about it besides it’s good. There isn’t anything too standout about it.

DICK GRAYSON’S THIRD STORY: It’s forgettable.

I forgot this was a thing in this, and it just feels like a waste of page.

It’s in no way bad that I seen, but it’s so very bland and one note. Titans fight and Dick acts as leader. Very generic.

The art’s really good though.

DICK GRAYSON’S FOURTH STORY: It’s better than that last one at least.

Unlike the last one, this feels like it at least has a point to be here, and it actually feels like it makes sense to be in he 80th anniversary as well.

I’m not a personal fan of the “Grayson” series, it just sexualized Dick too much honestly, made him cheesier again a bit, and the writing was a little on the off-side in a way that just made it all feel empty besides a few moments, but I never read the whole series to be a great judge on it.

But also because of that, I have no idea who these people are for this story to be grand. What makes it feel like it’s worthy of being here though is trying it back to the history of Robin like the first story with these little bits.

Without these moments though, you wouldn’t have a clue why this is there.

Also Dick just suddenly wears this:

Which is super duper off-putting. But Oh-ho gotta have sexy Dick in there somewhere I guess. Just-- wow, was that super sudden.

JASON TODD’S STORY: It’s good but this kid doesn’t look right.

The story is very simple and sweet, and I think it works a lot given Jason and Bruce’s complicated relationship.

It’s even written by Judd Winnick who did Under the Red Hood, which is awesome.

But who is this kid they keep calling Jason exactly? It irrationally bugs me, because all the art has been super spot on till this story. They even write him well, but it just genuinely doesn’t look like post-crisis Robin Jason.

Like to show what I mean--

You read it and this is how the kid speaks.

Super snarky,

a bit of a rude edge to it,

practical sounding but rough teen-ish still

yet still mature enough to feel like he can handle himself.

So you might place this around when Jason was 15 given he’s Robin, and when he was 15 and when they gave him a unique design finally away from a generic silver age Robin, he looked like a young body builder--

Like this is what Jason Todd looked like when they settled his look away from a Dick clone:

A young body builder type, strong jaw, working out, mature features for his age

So who the heck is this?

Like this isn’t what Jason looked like besides pre-crisis, but this is post-crisis Jason. They already settled what he looked like during that 80s run, and this isn’t it. He’s not supposed to look like a generic silver age Robin anymore.

Even beyond it not looking like what Jason’s supposed to, it doesn’t fit the dialogue. He’s written as a practical, snarky, yet in his own way still mature teen. Soooooo why’s he look 5?

It’s so off-putting and it bugs me.

However, beyond that, I really like the story, and at least the artist was good at drawing adult Jason.

Them representing Bruce’s and Jason’s complicate relationship of distant but still caring is something I really enjoy. It’s so much more true to character rather than acting like Jason is just a part of the family like nothing ever happened.

More of that dynamic for them, please.

TIM DRAKE’S FIRST STORY: It’s pretty good, but it’s missing something.

Not the highest praise ever, but I do like this story. I enjoy it’s setting at Tim’s school. High school was a constant setting for Tim’s comics in Robin, and they rarely ever treat it like that so I enjoy this story bringing it back.

I really enjoyed the connection  between extracurricular activities and what he does as Robin. It’s that blend of relatability and heroics that really made Tim work as a character. So that’s also great they brought back.

One of my favorite things that they bring up is Tim being into eSports, cuz it reminds me of how much Tim was into video games. It’s a very modern version of him being into the arcades in the 90s. Which is great.

However a downside is that it doesn’t really focus on Tim as a character like the other stories did with the other Robins.

Nothing about his never give up attitude, his insecurities, his underdog likability, how hard he is on himself, or things like that.

In-general this story says nothing about his personality besides a mention that he’s geeky. Which is a pretty big let-down because it keeps it from being any better, despite it already being good.

Freddie William’s art is also very hit or miss. It’s so crude sometimes, and Tim seems so buff compared to before in his actual Robin run. It’s very displeasing given that his early Tim work was top 5 Tim art material. However I still enjoyed that they brought him back even if he can’t draw Tim as well anymore. Tim’s still good in the babyface in most panels at least.

BUT-- this is still a pretty good Tim story. It’s just lacking.

Like it just should’ve been more about Tim as a character since it’s a Tim Drake story.

TIM DRAKE’S SECOND STORY: It’s honestly just pretentious.

Tim doesn’t talk like this. Tynion has a melodramatic tone to his characters that works great for characters like Batman, I’ve actually quite liked his Batman run so far partially because of that, but it doesn’t work for Tim.

This is not what Tim talks like. It’s so very unnatural sounding for a kid. Yet Tim talks in this incredibly dramatic tone except for a few light hearted spots, when I feel like it should be the opposite.

It’s also trying hard to be a character study, but again it’s so unnatural. It sounds like a fan describing their view of the characters, not the characters themselves. Like since have these guys became each others therapists?

And then he has Dick say these things that makes Tim seem like a Gary Stu and the greatest most talented guy ever.

Also having Tim hang out with Jason when Jason’s using guns even though Tim’s insanely against that sort of thing.

They even have Damian talk like a typical fan person who dislikes Tim based off of superficial things for a bit.

The fact it treats that Detective Comics Rebirth part of Tim’s character history as uber important is also a bit pretentious of the writer given he wrote that too. Despite Tim only being in that run for like three arcs and wasn’t even in-character for most of it.

Best part of it, is the vague acknowledgement that Tim didn’t want to be anything else but Robin to me.

Otherwise it just reeks of awkwardly written fan fiction.

Honorable mentions of quality though, is Dick and Tim being brothers train riding, and Damian’s mini-adult coming out. I’m so sick of them making Damian a generic kid sometimes that I actually liked this part even if it’s through a snarky filter.

STEPHANIE BROWN’S STORY: Better than expected, it’s actually pretty good.

I actually really liked this story. Overall I think Steph’s actual Robin run sucked, this is still a good story if I can get past the era it’s set in.

Unlike Tim’s stories, this actually uses her character.

How reckless she can be without it being super exaggerated, her attitude, love that they brought back the diary format for her inner-monologue too. 

There’s not much to say besides I’d actually consider this one of the best stories in the thing, except for the fact Steph clearly disobeys Batman and she was said to get fired for that. That’s a decent plot holes for me.

I super love the detail of Tim being so small that Steph can’t fit in his uniform. That cheered me up.

Them bringing back her Robin era artist was also great. Unlike Freddie Williams, their art actually really improved.

DAMIAN WAYNE’S FIRST STORY: The genuine worst story in it.

It’s so-- baaad.

Fan service can work if it’s in good quality. Like being in-character, or a nice homage. The train riding in Tynion’s story was that.

This isn’t that.

Damian and Jon didn’t get along right away, not even soon enough for this “mostly” part to feel right as a joke, because they obviously didn’t get along mostly right away. They fought a lot. They even show it on the full page them fighting, but they downplay how long they did fight just for fanservice. It took a long time, and even when they did it was still contrived.

Then they have Damian and Jon in the same class, when they aren’t the same age for that to make sense..

They even have Jon help Damian on his tests when it’s constantly shown that Damian is a brainiac who wouldn’t need that.

It’s literally even in the history summary at the end that he’s highly intelligent. So he probably wouldn’t even ever need a study partner considering he’s even said to have actual PHDs anyway. Which makes the study partner thing just plain out of character.

There’s also panels that straight up feels like oddly specific deviantart fetish art, which is so nasty. Especially considering that I know damn well that’s there’s pedophiles who make this same kind of oddly specific fetish art on there. So much so I had to stop using the site cuz of the anxiety it gave me.

And they downplay how mean Damian can be too Jon so much that it irks me.

This is the worst story in the whole comic, genuinely. Nothing good is in it, besides some decent enough art.

It’s certainly pandering to it’s fandom, but to certain parts it really shouldn’t be.

(This sort of stuff was still happening in their miniseries. Jon really shouldn’t want this as a brother. That’s stockholm syndrome.

DAMIAN WAYNE’S SECOND STORY: It’s better than the last one, but somethings missing still.

Unlike the last one avoiding talking about Damian’s actual character besides to play it down. This one actually uses it.

It’s just so quick, and empty feeling at the same time that it’s missing something. A bit like an inverse of Tim’s first story. Tim’s story had the setting and interesting story format, but no real character, while this has a lot of usage of the character but no interesting setting or story.

A lot of Damian’s character is that he’s not a natural Robin as far as attitude goes. He isn’t a typical Robin, and I enjoy how they play into that rather than be afraid of that. It’s what makes this actually work for me.

Although it makes you question why he’s still Robin, I consider that a good thing, because YOU SHOULD. You want the character’s to actually acknowledge things as if they’re real and not just ignoring things.

He’s not typical, he’s unique for better or worse. That’s Damian, and that’s what you should show of him.

This goes into why Damian’s the exact opposite of what a Robin normally is. That’s great.

But it’s missing anything memorable about it. However I think that’s cuz it leads into a future issue of Teen Titans which gives it a reasonable excuse.

I’m really hoping it leads into something.

Although i have a feeling they sadly might do the same thing as typical and ignore Damian’s actions more. Avoiding any genuine feelings.

OVERALL

It’s not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Only two stories I’d actually call bad, which is a lot less than I thought With just occasionally sloppy art, not even what I’d call back, but just crude or not drawing the character accurately which will annoy some more than others.

When I heard of this book I got so worried, but only two stories is actually almost relieving how little that is given the potential ego-driven things they could’ve done, which only those two stories then.

To me, I say it’s worth a pick-up, just rip out a story or two to keep it friendlier to revisit

Mostly was just really missing that extra heart in a lot of the stories.

Sorting Hat Chats - Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

Oh man oh man oh man was this movie good. It’s a new year, so here is a special post for y’all! For my New Year’s Eve I had a Studio Ghibli marathon of three movies lmao. 

As always, here are the basics of the system I’m using. 

I did not need even half an hour of screen time to be sure that NAUSICAA was a Badger Bird. Oh man I have never seen such a beautiful Badger Bird. She cares about everyone and everything, Kushana and Kurotowa do bad things but at the end of the day she wants them to live and let’s them go back to their home. She’s protecting the baby Ohm as a child, she doesn’t want to kill the insects or Pejite either, she just cares about everyone. She cries after realizing she’s killed people because she let her rage get the better of her. 

You could easily read her as a Badger secondary, because she has a powerful model she built for her people, but she’s a Bird secondary first and foremost. The first thing we see her doing is collecting spores and fangirling over the shed skin of the Ohm and just being an all around scientist. We later learn that she has her own secret room that she irrigated herself with soil she gathered herself to grow non-toxic plants because she wanted to help her father. That’s just so Bird secondary. And she always has a plan! She has this rapid Bird that kicks in during combat situations. She’s so smart and brilliant. 

But of course she has a Badger secondary model and it’s gorgeous and healthy. She picked it up for her people because she realized that she had blind spots and that her Bird secondary wasn’t what her people needed. They needed a Badger secondary to lead and she’s fantastic at it, because of her primary probably. She’s popular with the people, she takes care of everyone, she works hard with everyone, she’s awesome. She’s so fucking cool I love her!

(Side note: If you’re drawing Nausicaa I will only accept buff girl Nausicaa. You cannot tell me the girl who planks on her glider and can take out like six Tolmekian soldiers isn’t a muscular girl. You just can’t.)

And I’m starting to think that your primary and secondary can feed into each other sort of. Nausicaa if she weren’t a Bird secondary would’ve probably never felt an innate curiosity about the Ohm and the other bugs, but she is, so she’s curious about then and then she doesn’t dehumanize them-she wants to protect them because he learned about them and considers them people to! 

LORD YUPA is a total Bird primary. He says it himself early on that he’s searching for the truth. His truth is very Badger though, he checks on other villages and towns, and he saved a squirrel-fox(?) thinking it was a human baby. But what he really wanted to do was find the dude from the legend and unite the world of nature and the world of man. He played it off like it wasn’t what he wanted, but we all know that’s what it was. 

As for his secondary, Bird. Him and Nausicaa get along so well because they are both Bird secondaries. They’re both interested in the Toxic Jungle and they’re both incredible strategists. He’s a strong warrior because he’s honed his skills for so long and that’s how he knows how to work things out. He understands how to calm Nausicaa down and negotiate with the Tolmekians. 

ASBEL’S primary I had a little trouble figuring out. Honestly he was like the least interesting character to me lmao. Anyway, I think he’s a Snake primary, who builds models based on the main girls in his life (PLATONICALLY). He loses his shit when Lastelle dies and takes out a bunch of Tolmekian ships and only loses his nerve when Nausicaa tells him to stop because she looks like Lastelle. Then he aligns himself more with Nausicaa because she reminds him of Lastelle. 

So I’m guessing his model is either Badger or Lion, but I’m leaning towards Badger because the two main villains are Lions. 

Oh and his secondary? Lion. Pew pew shoot the ships and kill the bugs. I don’t know what you want from me, that’s the best I can articulate it. 

KUSHANA is a Double Lion and in my opinion she’s a fascinating one. She cares about power and strength like any other Lion, but you can see she’s not just a power hungry princess or whatever, she’s someone who genuinely believes what she is doing is right, and is also someone who is incredibly insecure. The way she absolutely loses it when the villagers says she is nothing like Nausicaa and they can’t believe she’s a princess is so interesting. And she’s not just a black and white bad guy! She’s a woman who has lost to these bugs and sees them as dangerous and sees the Toxic Forest as needing to be put to death. We see that she cares at least something about Nausicaa, or that she was just wowed by her. 

And there is something about that scene in the middle of the Toxic Jungle where she’s trying to be in control of the situation. Nausicaa asks her what she’s afraid of, and it’s being out of control, and the trauma about the bugs. She needs to be in control and-I’m getting off topic. 

Okay so, her secondary is a Lion, she shoots people and points her superweapon at the bugs she wants dead. She’s a shouter and woman who inspires her soldiers to fight. 

(Another side note: best line of the movie goes to her, “Yes and whatever lucky man becomes my husband will find worse than that.” alkrgjskbf)

KUROTOWA is fun and also a Double Lion, that might just be why he and Kushana get along. He talks about his dreams and ambitions that have been reawakened in him, so he probably got burned or just suppressed his Lion for the good of his country. He’s hear to win and be powerful. Glory Hound Lion.

And his secondary, again, shooty-shooty, slicey-dicey. Also good at rallying his soldiers.

She-ra Season 5 Thoughts and Rambling

I just finished watching this season and I’m now radiating enough soft gay energy to power a small nation, SO LET’S FUCKING DO THIS

SPOILERS AHEAD

-Horde Prime is like the most unnerving villain I’ve seen in a while and of course he had to have THAT bullshit as his gimmick

-I’m not talking about episode 5. It was a good episode, but also the most triggering shit ever

-Love the new characters so much, even though they showed up for like half an episode

-Dad Micah is amazing and I love him and look I’m a full blown lesbian and I still find this man very hot

-ALSO NEW SHE-RA IS EXTREMELY HOT HOLY FUCK

-PLEASE STEP ON ME MA’AM

-ALSO BOTH OF CATRA’S NEW LOOKS LIKE OH MY GOD

-Everyone’s outfits for that musical episode were amazing. Especially Mermista’s

-I love how all the drawings on Netossa’s note were made with Noelle’s art style. That only made those two even cuter

-Wrong Hordak was a treat and I love him, but every time old Hordie did anything I was like “THAT’S MY BOY!”

-But I love seeing WH’s dumb smile in the opening sequence

-Speaking of clones, wow I can’t believe Prime got palpatined

-Also I sat through that god damn opening every time just to see the little changes oh boy I still dislike the music

-Lots of people getting punched in the heart with some much needed character development

-Swift Wind....was not insufferable, for once

-Melog is now and forever the best animal companion in the whole show

-Shadow Weaver legit got away with child abuse apparently, but fuck it at least the bitch is very dead now

-Though I was not prepared for how pretty she was

Now let’s get down to what we gay goblins are really here for THE SHIPPING:

-Glimbow really got fed and I’m very happy for you guys for getting that quality content

-Glitra got a lot more than I expected to be honest and I’m loving it. Glimmer really did understand Catra better than Adora some times and I was here for it. I’m super gonna keep making content for this ship still

-This was the season that sold me on Glitradora, like holy fuck yeah now I can see it. I ship it now

-Entrapdak IS BACK, BABY! GIMME THAT LAB PARTNER GOODNESS!

-SeaMista also getting a real big boost this season. Even a mind controlled Mermista has to stop what she is doing to yell at Sea Hawk

-Spinettossa continues to be the best wives ever though they may get some competition in the future

Finally the one thing we’ve all been waiting for: CATRADORA!

-I love all the little looks and blushes they gave each other during the season

-I love how Catra is the reason Adora can transform again for the first time

-I love Catra’s blush when she sees the new transformation.

-I love Adora’s blush when Catra cut a fucking wall in half me too girl

-”Not the way I want her” KICKED ME IN THE BALLS AND STOLE MY WALLET

-And the kiss. I wasn’t expecting them to kiss, but oh my god they fucking did it. Our girls are canon

Now if you guys will let me get a bit more personal here there is one last thing I want to add.

With the release of every season, Buff Anon left the blog until she finally managed to watch everything and then she came back. She was always very dramatic about this and this is the last time that will ever happen. She will never have to leave my blog ever again and this makes me very happy

This show and this blog is what got us together. We met because of it and we fell in love. This month it’s gonna be a year since we started dating and this has been the happiest year of my life. I love her with all my heart and even with She-ra ending now, we and all the friends we made in this fandom, will stay together.

She’ll never leave this blog again and neither will she leave my heart

Thank you all for making this the best fandom experience ever and Thank you Crew-ra for helping me meet the woman I love.

Byakuya Togami- “I just have a lot of questions about him... like... why is he with a bunch of freshman when last game he was a freshman like two years. The timing doesn’t make much sense. Also, they’re bringing a lot of attention to the fact he’s fat. Like, they draw it so it’s obvious and talk about it so much. Like, why?”
